A *real* pinch me moment happened today. It's been a little bucket list dream for me to write for Dread Central for a very long time. A piece I pitched not too long ago went live on their website.

I'm really proud of this piece. I get to talk about why I really love horror, and why it's a genre that has helped me reclaim who I am (the good bits and the bad bits in equal measure).

From the spectacular body horror of Argento's Suspiria, to the intimate glances of girlhood horror with Kusama's cult classic, Jennifer's Body, come take a look at how the final girl helped me discover who I am.

Midnight Mass' Disability Conversation is Necessary Perspective

Midnight Mass took me about a month longer than everyone else to finish because it so deeply gets to the heart of something I've been struggling to articulate within myself for years about my disability and the way I navigate the world. Beyond tracing the trajectory of my personal relationship to my own body, it also gave the disabled character a fulfilling story arc--and the last word.

Re: Ready or Not 2. And if/how it could work.

We know from the movie, Mr le Bail made deals with other wealthy families and some of them suffered the consequences of not living up to their end of the bargain. But many are presumably still around.

So, cut to Ready or Not 2 and some other poor bride finds herself in the same or a similar horrible Grace did in the first one.

Cut to Grace, who has been playing detective for the last few years, showing up to save her ass, like Arnold in T2.

Makes sense and is a logical reason why Grace could return.

The Lake will be released on Blu-ray on May 16 via Dread and Epic Pictures. The 2022 Thai kaiju film opens in select theaters today and hits Digital on March 14.

Lee Thongkham (The Maid) and Aqing Xu co-direct from a script by Thongkham. Lamyai Haithongkham, Sushar Manaying, Teerapat Satjakul, Thanachart Tulyachart, Vithaya Pansringarm, and Wanmai Chatborirak star.

Jordu Schell (Cloverfield, The Mist, Predators) designed the film’s giant creature, which is brought to life using a blend of practical animatronics and CGI.

The Blu-ray includes both the original Thai audio with English subtitles and an English dub. Special features are listed below, where you'll also find the trailer.

Ectober: Dread

A part of the Paulina Phantom AU.

“I am not going to be stuck like this forever,” she told Danny when the accident first happened, when her hair turned white and her clothes ice-blue. She had looked in a mirror and seen a stranger staring back and declared that this was not going to be her reality for long. 

But it turns out it isn’t so easy to reverse your own half-death. Turns out this isn’t the kind of problem you can throw money at to escape, and there isn’t any easy undo button. And maybe there are upsides, maybe it’s not so bad to be a superhero with fawning fans… 

It doesn’t help the dread, the chills down her back, when she picks up a mirror these days. Because what is she supposed to do about the fact that the stranger’s face is starting to look far more familiar than her own?
