[Free Video Game + Soundtrack] Sanitarium [Award-Winning Psych Horror Adventure]
As part of GOG's 2022 Summer Sale running through June, a rotating selection of free video games are being given away for a limited time, courtesy of the developers and retailer.
Sanitarium by DreamForge Intertainment is an old-fashioned point-and-click exploration adventure from 1998, centred around a psychological horror tale as you play an asylum patient unable to remember anything about surviving a car crash, and visiting surreal worlds populated by mysterious children and ancient gods and ghosts of your past, as you attempt to figure out what's going on by talking with NPCs, triggering flashback scenes, and solving puzzles by using items. This won Computer Gaming World magazine's 1998 Best Adventure award in a tie with Grim Fandango, and was also a nominee for several other industry awards.
To get the freebie, simply click to claim from the promo banner on Gog.com's front page (scroll down to where it's sandwiched between Flash Deals and Featured Deals, requires account signup with valid email and billing address, but no payment info), and you can read more about the game (compatible with Windows only) on its dedicated catalogue page and its Wikipedia entry. An MP3 soundtrack of the game's original music is also included in the giveaway.
Offered DRM-free worldwide until Wednesday morning, June 8th at 9 AM Pacific TIme (5 PM UTC), available directly from the retailer.

[[ Gollvelius' Tavern by Wesley Phua.
Gollvelius' Tavern was a tavern in Menzoberranzan in the mid–14th century DR, located to the southwest of the city. It was a retreat for many of the drow.
Here, a band of adventurers from Icewind Dale found Jarlaxle, and they exchanged information. He informed the party that the people captured from their village might be used as fodder in a war between drow houses, in which they would be sent forth to activate the protective glyphs.
On the advice of Rizzen Do'Urden, the companions returned to Gollvelius' Tavern to speak again with Jarlaxle. He made a promise to supply them with the House Do'Urden insignia, in exchange for a golden necklace, found in the Mantle caverns. Jarlaxle didn't fully commit to his promise, but instead revealed to the party that a drow patrol of young nobles carried the insignia in another set of caverns nearby.
-- Inspired by the computer game Menzoberranzan, developed by DreamForge Intertainment, Inc. and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. in 1994. ]]

Sanitarium is a very unique and special title I already reviewed three years ago, so for any more in-depth information, check out the article. Suffice it to say that it has lost none of its weirdness over the years, as it explores twisted worlds of a man who lost his…

Point and click : précurseurs des jeux d’évasion
Tumblr media
(The Secret of Monkey Island, Lucas Art, 1990)
Tumblr media
(King’s Quest VI : Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow, Sierra Entertainment, 1992)
#romantique
Tumblr media
(The Secret of Monkey Island, Lucas Art, 1990)
Tumblr media
(The Secret of Monkey Island, Lucas Art, 1990 VS version Remastered, 2009) Je vous incite à découvrir -si c’est pas déjà fait- ces jeux maaaaaaaagnifiques!
-Myriam, Mighty Pirate™

Rites of War for free in GOG’s Warhammer Weekend sale • Eurogamer.net
Deals for the deals throne.
Seems like everywhere’s gone mad for miniatures this week! Following in the footsteps of Humble’s Warhammer Bundle, you can now visit GOG to get a free copy of Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War as part of their Warhammer Weekend sale.
For those of you who haven’t come across it before, Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War is a turn-based strategy game made by DreamForge Intertainment back in 1999. In it, you lead the Eldar on a quest to protect one of their Maiden Worlds from human and Tyranid invaders.
It looks like a classic turn-based strategy affair, though you’ll find that even games in the late-90s weren’t shying away from layering extra RPG-elements on top of everything. In Rites of War, your troops can earn experience points, which can be spent on different upgrade paths to improve their skills and unlock new psychic abilities.
You can grab Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War for absolutely nothing for the next 48 hours.
While there, you can also check out the Warhammer Weekend sale that’s running for the next couple of days. A wide array of Warhammer games all feature, including some new DRM-free additions to GOG such as Warhammer: Chaosbane, Space Hulk: Deathwing – Enhanced Edition and Battlefleet Gothic: Armada.
I’ve summarised a few of the deals below, many of which much cheaper than their Humble Store prices:
Both the Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War freebie and Warhammer Weekend sale will end at 2pm UK time on 19th July.
After more top gaming offers? You can find loads over at Jelly Deals. Join us to find the best SD card for Nintendo Switch, our picks for the best PS4 external hard drive or where to find the best Xbox Game Pass Ultimate deal.
If it’s other digital game deals you’re after, don’t worry, there’s a lot going on right now. You can check out the Green Man Gaming Summer Sale or you can catch the end of the Ubisoft Forward Sale for discounts on Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and more.

GOG release: "Chronomaster"
GOG release: “Chronomaster”
GOG and Throwback Entertainment bring back a universe bending sci-fi adventure game with DreamForge Intertainment’s Chronomaster. Chronomaster certainly can’t hide its 90ies history with its outdated 3D environments, but it’s the content that counts, and here it’s about the Chronomaster Korda who wants justice in a world where magic and science co-exist. It sounds a bit familiar if one has…
