Annual Update 2024
Alright everyone! New year, new updates for all my stuff!
Starting with ...
AtDFF and AYC
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The new signatures for my main art, AtDFF, and AYC)
As some, and by that I mean most of you have probably noticed, I rebooted AtDFF... again. I technically started a revamp all the way back in 2020 where I was redrawing the older updates to better match the current style and reformat the asks and text for better readability, but that didn't impede on the main updates (well, besides putting more onto mine and the rest of the team's work load.)
The Reboot
This past year though, I made the decision to completely reboot the comic for a few reasons. One was an attempt to renew my motivation, another was wanting to rework some of the lore, yet another was being inspired by @askfallenroyalty to remake the comic and post to ComicFury, but I think the main factor was... I wasn't all that happy with it. I think I kept comparing it to other comics, especially Fallen Royalty, which is my own issue, please don't go blaming anyone else. I knew I could do better, especially after over 5 years working on this, but now looking back, part of me feels that, rebooting it again is, in a way, diminishing those years. Even with the 2020 revamp, prior to it you could go through the updates and really look at how my art has progressed, and though true you can still scroll and find the old updates, it's just... not quite the same. Same can be said for the 2023 reboot.
Does that mean I'm going back on the reboot? No. I already have the next updates planned (I just haven't had a chance to work on them that often) and I really like the new lore of the world that I've come up with. I just think this will be the last time I ever reboot the comic. Whatever happens, happens, and I need to just roll with it. Even if what happens is our little roadtrip getting derailed into a corn field again, lol.
Comic Fury and New Comic?
With that said, what do I have in store for the new reboots of AtDFF and AYC? (yes AYC got rebooted too, I just haven't posted the first update like I did with AtDFF) Well, I mentioned a Comic Fury, which surprise. Both AtDFF and AYC have their own Comic Fury pages now! Don't worry, I still plan on posting to Tumblr as well, but now you can also find them on Comic Fury. Along with another comic I'm planning to do (eventually), Undertale-ish: The Comic. Ever wonder what Ish Frisk's journey through the Underground was like? Want to see what happened in most (not all) of their 800 runs? Want to see this child grapple with their self insecurities, perfectionism, and the responsibility of having full control over time and an entire civilization's lives in the palm of their hand? Want to see Chara as a ghost? Well that's what you'll get with Undertale-ish: The Comic! Coming I don't know since I such at scheduling and time management for these things!
Schedule
Speaking of scheduling! When are any of these comics coming out? Well... I just said I suck with schedules, and I can't promise really... anything when it comes to release but like... I know I for sure would like to release things... regularly? Even with the start of the reboot, I started it in April, and that stuff extended until at least August. Every summer I naively think "Oh! I'm gonna have so much time to work on the comic!" and then I get a summer job. Because I'm nearly 20 and going to college and even if I'm still living under my parent's roof, I can't entirely rely on my dad to pay my tuition. Only for half the year. Then during the school year, I have classes, and I feel burned out by the time I get home, and- It's a whole thing I need to find someway to work around or else nothing gets done and my brain just screams at itself. So, I think scheduling is something I'm gonna figure out throughout January, and try and get a backlog of updates ready throughout February to April or May so maybe we can start posting again in summer. Does that feel like a long wait? Even being near a year from the first update of the AtDFF reboot? Yes. But also I'm trying to over estimate and give myself the time and space I need while still attending college, and I wouldn't just be working on one comic update, but multiple. I'm trying to give myself space and some grace instead of making promises that feel hollow after a while of being unfufilled.
Lack of Motivation and How to Fix
Another thing to address, is my motivation when it comes to these series. I don't think it's accurate to say I've felt completely unmotivated to work on either comic, I mean, I was motivated for some of the beginning of last year to full on overhaul them, but I will say that, these comics have started to feel like a job. It's been something I've felt for a couple years now, where I've been having less fun with the comic as it's begun to feel like actual work. Believe me, I'm super excited for some of the later plot points of both AtDFF and AYC, and I love Undertale-ish and these characters but to get to those points or character moments, it feels like I'm slogging through what comes before it, which isn't good. This is something that sure, rebooting helped for a bit, before I got caught up in school and other stuff, but it's not a permanent solution and I've felt myself slipping back into the comic feeling like a job.
So how might I remedy this? Well, I think the solution might lie in another series I started this year, Drawing Junior Secret Squad until Chapter 3. Even if DJSSuC3 is more Deltarune focused, I've enjoyed drawing Chicago and my other fankids pretty much daily as, there's not that much pressure on it. Definitely not like there is with AtDFF or AYC. I don't have to line, or even color them since, they're just little doodles. I don't have to worry about missing a day since, I'll just do multiple the next day. They're quick, they're easy, I can just draw whatever idea I have with the characters I want, I'm having fun. Back when Ask the Dreemurr-Font Family was nothing but an ask chat on Amino, that's what I did it for. For fun. I wasn't worried with popularity or being like other creators, I just did silly little character driven roleplays for fun. I think that's been my issue with the comics. They aren't fun anymore. They're work because, I feel it's my job to tell this story rather than just... telling it because I want to. So, I think going forward, I'm gonna try to have more fun with the comics and Ish in general. For you all, that's probably gonna look like more sketches and doodles getting posted and maybe even just sharing small comics based off ideas that pop into my brain or from roleplays that happened in my server. Little things to help me regain the enjoyment I had with these comics and world.
Deltarune: Fool's Fate
I think that's all I've got to say on the Undertale based comics, so how about now we move onto something Deltarune related? As I was doing DJSSuC3, I introduced an idea called Deltarune: Fool's Fate. Aka, Chicago and Co's adventures through the Dark Worlds after Kris denied their destiny. So far, this has just been little doodles, character designs, and a roleplay I've been doing in my discord server. I've been having quite a bit of fun with that RP, we're nearly to the end of what would be the first "chapter" and have been fighting Dorothy, the secret boss of the Attic Dark World and who some of y'all might recall I made a real life doll of when my old computer finally kicked the bucket earlier this month. (I've still yet to make her dress or crown) I think roleplays have always been the thing I find the most enjoyable when it comes to character exploration as, I don't have to spend forever drawing comics and I get to sorta live through the characters. It's something I've been doing for characters from even before I was in this fandom. With the Fool's Fate roleplay too, I've also got to come up with elements that could feasibly be in an actual video game without, you know, actually coding a video game.
I don't know where Fool's Fate will go from here, while it'd be cool to have it be an actual fangame, I don't have that sort of skill. Nor the budget to pay a team. (My team for the comics is really just a bunch of friends I convinced to help me out for free.) Even with a sprite comic, it'd be too much. So, for now, it'll likely just remain a concept and roleplay. But, who knows. Maybe someday I could make it into something. I mean, after watching this year's Underevent I wanted to.
Other stuff
With all the UTDR stuff out of the way, what about some of my other stuff? (Because, surprise, Undertale and Deltarune aren't the ONLY things I do. Just the things I hyperfixate on the most.) Well, I've got my Fakemon region, Azmayca, POW-R, Dragon Riders, and Kinder Eyes which I started last summer. I don't really have any plans for them, asides from bugging people for ideas and doodling whenever I'm in the mood. However I think starting this year, I'm gonna try to post more of the doodles I make. Either ones in my sketchbook since DJSS gave me the confidence to post sketchy silly little doodles like that, or sketch doodles I draw digitally as warm ups. Though who knows. Maybe a hyperfixation swing some time during the summer will cause me to actually try to do something crazy like outline the whole Azmayca region and hypothetical game. Hopefully not something like that though. Making the evolutions of my redesigns of the starters might be nice.
Commissions
Another thing I'd like to finally do next year is update my commissions sheet. It's something I've had in the work for a while now, and was working on along side launching the comic updates. But, like the comics, school and work got in the way so... I sorta forgot about it. Regardless! I'm gonna try to post my updated sheet some time within the next few months, it's mostly just been havin to draw or find recent examples of my work. Hopefully then I'll actually get some more commissions because, um *looks at the whooping $3.94 in my checking account* I could really use the extra money. I might work during the summers and get grade payments from my dad but, that stuff is to pay my tuition and some of my lunches during the semester, and even with lunches, 500 dollars is spread thin through 17, 16 ish weeks. That's like, only $30 a week, which is maybe enough to cover buying lunch at the campus food court like, once or twice from the food court. Maybe three times if I'm lucky and conservative with my spending. Not to mention that $300 of that went to my new laptop, and even if I should be getting $300 from a paycheck I was never paid back when I worked at Arby's 3 summers ago, I still haven't gotten that gift card in the mail so... Yeah. If I was living on my own, I'd be screwed. Which is why commissions and Patreon are like, my only source of income during the school year. (I still need to look into getting an on campus job for this upcoming semester but that's its own whole big can of worms.)
Patreon
Speaking of Patreon, that's another goal I want to set. Actually posting to it again. I had a burst early last year were I was regularly posting to Patreon with early access chapters of The Puppet and the Real Boy (before I retconned that with Fool's Fate) and thanks to my only Patreon ever @kierangecko, I managed to make around $50 bucks which ended up being used to help get blanks for some of my Christmas gifts for people (thank you Gecko. I know I did stop posting after like, May, but that money really came in handy.) So for this next year, I'm gonna try to post to that again. Be it WIPs of the comic, scripts, little doodles I don't post on Tumblr or whatever, I want to make Patreon another source of income. Which involves posting to it at least monthly. And even if I don't, then you guys won't have to worry about anything since I've got it set to not charge for months I don't post anything.
Resolution Review
So, to review some of my... I guess you could call them resolutions, though I'd rather think of them as goals I don't absolutely have to hold myself too but would just like to accomplish, I'd like to...
Have more fun when with AtDFF and AYC through drawing and posting more loose, silly comics and doodles
Try figuring out a posting and work schedule for AtDFF and AYC by then end of January
Hopefully get a back log of updates for both comics ready to release by summer
Start on and release Undertale-ish: The Comic sometime this year
Keep doing Drawing Junior Secret Squad until Chapter 3 until Chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune hopefully come out sometime this year.
Possibly design hypothetical secret boss predictions for Chapters 4 and 5 of Deltarune before the next chapters come out.
Keep working on, designing characters for, and coming up with Dark Worlds for Deltarune: Fool's Fate. Perhaps even drawing some tarot cards with the chapter bosses.
Post more about my other projects, even if they're only sketchbook drawings or warm up doodles.
Update my commissions page and hopefully take more commissions to earn some extra money/save up for college or to move out.
Post regularly to my Patreon, also to earn some extra money.
Generally have a better year than 2023 and to find more enjoyment in my art and projects.
Closing
Ho boy! That was... A lot! This has turned out to be one very long post. Hehe. Well, should be over now that I've said all I need too. Also, if I haven't said it already, I'd like to thank all of you for supporting me and my art. Be it my comics, DJSSuC3, my other projects, or anything I've posted this year. It means a lot to me that people even like what I draw and you all mean the world to me. With all of that out of the way, thank you Creative Creators and I hope you have a Happy New Year.

How do you feel about the gaster as the skeledudes' parent?? I don't really see it, I've always thought that maybe he was just Sans' boss (or something??? ) for a period of time, but clearly its relatively popular in the fandom ig
i think it's highly likely that they're related, but less likely that he's their father. i think broster is a lot more likely, since that rules out having to explain the logistics of who their other parent is. the reason why i think they're related, aside from the fonts/skeletons thing and the gaster blasters, it's that for 2 main characters like the bros toby is likely to follow the same pattern he started with the dreemurrs, where all the members in a family are the same type of monster.
i do enjoy my non-skelebros-related gaster from time to time of course! i just don't think it's gonna become canon. although of course, it could always remain unconfirmed

Alright Guys. It's theory time. But first, have this super lazy Sour Patch Kid looking ass diagram of the eight fallen humans
Tumblr media
I would've added the switch soul. But at the time that i'm writing the first half of the post, it's 10:30pm and I'm tired.
I guess I'll take this as an opportunity to say that reader discretion is advised. This post will deal with serious topics revolving around suicide, child abuse and child neglect. Please remain civil and respectful while interacting. Debunking/constructing on this theory is greatly appreciated, but no "oyasumi", "going to get milk" or any sort of jokes surrounding these topics are not allowed and I may even block you if i have to. I like dark humor but this post isn't made for humorous purposes. Proceed with caution.
[Several hours later/I've had a good night's sleep/Keep reading for theory]
(Sorry for all the warnings. I just wanna make sure that anyone who gets upset by these topic have scrolled past already)
THEORY TIME!
(Sorry if this is incomprehensible af. I could prob make an AU out of this but don't count on it. I've tried making AU's before and couldn't keep up)
If you've been a fan of Undertale and Deltarune for a long time, you may have come across a lot of theories on the fallen humans coming from dysfunctional households. I've seen many people theorize/headcanon that Chara, the first fallen human after the war between humans and monsters fell from Mt. Ebott as a suicide attempt, and tried poisoning themselves prior to surviving the fall, meeting the royal Dreemurr family, accidentally poisoning Asgore. I put "suicide attempt" in bold font because even though the humans in Chara's village thought Asriel killed them when they died, what if a small percentage of the villagers didn't believe Asriel killed Chara, and some of the humans suspected suicide.
This could've lead to other humans (specifically the children) who come from dysfunctional families and where tired of either the abuse and they had to endure everyday seeing Chara and Mt. Ebott as a way to escape.
In short, Mt. Ebott was a suicide spot for abused kids
Something to support this claim can be this piece of text from the Undertale intro.
Tumblr media
In the Undertale intro, we see Chara, the first fallen human. The main protagonist, Frisk was the eighth (and depending on which route you take) the last human to fall into the underground.
At the end of the pacifist route, Asriel talks about how Chara hated humanity and asks what Frisk fell in the first place.
One can assume Frisk wanted to free the monsters, but even with some before hand knowledge, it's highly unlikely that Frisk would've known about Flowey/Asriel and all the shenanigans from the pacifist route.
To top it all off, the reason why I quoted "legends say that those who climb the mountain never return." is because it can be taken in the concept of Mt. Ebott being a surefire way to kill yourself. Especially if seven others died prior; six of them never returning to the surface. Therefore, you're bound to be killed either by the impact of the fall, or by other monsters.
I hope my tired ass is making sense. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DEBUNK! Here's the post prior to this. Good day. I shall be waiting for my (somewhat) loving family to arrive in a good few hours.

Finding Yourself Chapter 9: Reunited
(A.N. - This story is now FINISHED! Not gonna post the following Epilogue chapter, because it’s an emotional moment of its own and doing so may make me cry. Thank you to everyone who’s followed this story! Be sure to go to the Ao3 and leave a kudos or a comment!)
In any other circumstance, going down Highway 287 at over 120 miles per hour would make Asriel beg for the car to stop.
Then again, this wasn’t any other circumstance. Asriel’s mind was in a thousand other places.
How could this have happened? Was Frisk all right? Were they alive?
The third of these thoughts brought Asriel to the brink of tears, but his eyes had gone red with tears already, as had everyone else in the car. There were no more to cry, even if there was so much still to cry about.
The radio was on, but nobody was listening. Everyone seemed to be stuck in the same loop of thoughts. Nobody could even muster up language or words of any kind. The dread hung so heavy in the van that it practically had its own seat.
It contrasted with nearly every other road trip ever taken by the Dreemurr family. Their trips to California’s beaches were replete with jokes, stops for drinks, and investigations of kitschy tourist traps.
Often Asgore and Toriel were emblems of frivolity and joy on these long road trips. Now, Toriel sat grimly at the driver’s seat of the van, staring ahead as if to curse the engine for its lack of instant transportation.
Asgore, often the font of many a belly laugh, now sat glumly staring out at the road. He was nearly as desolate now as he had been in the palace before the barrier had open. An uncharacteristic despair dwelled in his eyes.
Undyne’s motorcycle continued leading the way, and from what Asriel could tell by her posture, she had none of her usual glee. She was deathly serious as the lights on her cycle blared to warn vehicles ahead of the incoming motorcade which burned rubber towards Denver.
The rest of the trip continued as such until Fort Collins had fallen behind them, and until they had switched onto I-25, ploughing on until they reached the outskirts of Denver.
A voice came over the radio as they continued to speed forward, “Crown Convoy, this is DPD. Please advise, you are proceeding at unsafe speeds. Please slow your convoy to Nine-Zero Miles Per Hour. How copy?”
Toriel gruffly picked up the receiver and spoke, “This is Crown Convoy. We will not slow. We are bound for Saint Joseph. This is a matter of absolute diplomatic urgency, and we will not be slowed.”

Hey since the previous anon mention storyshift is there going to be a crossover with that au? Just curious.
I don't really want to crossover with "AUs" I want to crossover with established comics that have a similar vibe: undertale askblogs.
I already have 2 pretty solid ones and that is a pretty good number of crossovers I think. (Afac and Ask Dreemurr Font Family )
I could however do homages and references to other AUs. (For example outfits. Sans has a closet full of... somewhat familiar outfits)

What made you start this series.
I had wanted to start an ask blog for a while, I actually tried a few times on Amino but nothing stuck until this blog at AtDFF. I think I was trying to figure out a bit of Ish Chara's past when I made it, and since I was already trying to get an ask blog rolling for modern Ish, I thought why not make one for the past of Ish to explain some backstory. And here we are. This blog definitely has a looser script than AtDFF since I mostly made it for fun and just to explain some of the past of the world. It's just kinda gone from there.

Kit Character Reference
Full name: Asriel (Kit) Dreemurr
Title: Pastry Master, Prince of Goldenflow, Adolescent Prince
AU: Crystaltale
Soul Representation: Hope 95%, Kindness 5%
Age: 14 | 19
Alignment: Lawful Good
Likes: Magic training, cooking
Dislikes: Dealing with Cedric and Elliot’s nonsense, official work
Font: Determination Mono
✧─── ・ 。゚★: *.Backstory.* :★. ───✧
Kit was born into the Dreemurr family, one of the 8 royal family descendants of the Arches. Thus, making one of the strongest monsters stat wise. Unlike the other brothers of his, Elliot and Frisk, he doesn’t know about the oddity of the current timeline. The one thing he remembers is that his parents adopted Elliot and the monsters lived in the Lucidial for around 3 centuries. Even though, in Elliot and Cedric’s knowledge, that should be impossible!
✧─── ・ 。゚★: *.Personality.* :★. ───✧
As a teenager, he still acts like he’s a 10 year old. In terms of curiosity and naiveness. He’s still timid and sometimes shy though is not afraid to try something new. Because of that, he sometimes is not the best to do complicated tasks because of his clumsiness. Elliot tries to help him overcome his clumsiness, shyness, and timidness with Cedric helping too. Eventually he got the confidence he needed...a bit. Despite all of that, when it comes to cooking all of those traits are gone. As if cooking is his only pleasurement to calm down. Because of his cooking passion, he asked Vanity to take him as her apprentice in pastry cooking.
As an adult, he becomes more confident and more responsible. He still enjoys cooking till this day and has created many recipes, especially pastry related. His famous recipe is his Snowflake Puff Pastry. Since he’s an adult now, he has been working with official related activities in his father's place. He really doesn’t like it but Elliot (as his advisor) makes sure he gets the job done. Another reason he doesn’t cook that much is that he injured his leg at some point. Thus, he’s unable to stand for a long time without his walking cane. At least, he still can enjoy some of the human’s pastry and Vanity’s!
Even though he’s adolescent as an adult but what kind of it? There are many ways to be childish but he’s indeed a bit of royalty selfish.
✧─── ・ 。゚★: *.Fighting Ability.* :★. ───✧
He fights with a sword and his fire magic also he can do melee combat. His fire’s color looks like a rainbow colored one with aqua as the main color. His swordsmanship and melee combat comes from Aster as his mentor alongside his brothers. Justine, Kit’s father seems worried about his children learning dangerous skills at such a young age but Aster and Selina assure him. Selina agrees with his children's dedication as she trains hard too as a young one.
He could turn into his Hyperdeath form with the help of 8 hope animus crystals alongside with the Animus Book or with any strong animus magic source. He will only uses it if it’s necessary as it takes a lot of recoil after the usage.

Have you heard of an ask blog called Ask the Dreemurr Font Family? (AtDFF)
I’ve seen them floating around. They did a similar sort of OC-contest type thing for background characters in their school that I did once. Same format and everything. No judgement here by the way! I’m happy to inspire things!
And they’ve got a real solid Frisk design in my opinion. Looks way more like an Actual Human than mine. XD

Chapter 2: Burning spaghetti, and other signs your cousin-slash-dad may not be ready for parenthood
Word Count: 1140
XXX
Chara woke up to the smell of burning spaghetti.
For a second they were afraid that Mettaton had left them with Papyrus after all.  That’s what Alphys had wanted, right?  Chara had pretended to be asleep when she woke Mettaton, but they’d heard the whole conversation.  Alphys didn’t want to deal with a kid in her house.
Chara couldn’t blame her.  They’d never been the… easiest kid, anyway.
She hadn’t kicked them out, though.  They were lying on the same lumpy blue couch they and Mettaton had passed out on.  So either Papyrus had come over early, or…
“Damnation, I knew that wasn’t enough glitter.”
Mettaton was in the kitchen, burning the spaghetti himself.  Huh.
Chara tried to climb off of the couch, but their fragile soul still had trouble coordinating their bony legs.  They fell in a heap on the carpet.
“Sta—I mean, babybones?”  Mettaton’s head quickly poked out of the kitchen.  “Are you al… oh dear.”
He rushed over and scooped them up in his arms.  That would’ve been fine if his hands and apron weren’t covered in sparkly tomato sauce.
Chara tried to stick out their tongue, then remembered they no longer had one.
“I’m fine.” They tried to wriggle out of his arms. “I’m not gonna die again just from falling over.”
“Of course, darling.” He set them gently back on the couch.  “How are you feeling?”
They rolled their eyelights.  At least they could still do that.
“You know you’re not really my dad, right?”
Mettaton blinked.  Chara heard his internal fans whir, which was as close as the robot could get to blushing.
“You heard all that, didn’t you.  You always were too nosy for your own good, cousin.”
Chara smirked. It was hard to do without lips, but they never shied away from a challenge.
“And you always exaggerate.  I don’t even have a nose.”
Mettaton laughed.  It sounded a little different than when he’d been a ghost.  Though the new sound felt foreign, it would have been weirder if it was the same.
They’d both changed since Chara had been adopted into the Blook family.  But just like the last time they’d woken from death, he was there to give Chara something to hold on to.
“If I didn’t know better, I would have assumed you were Papyrus’s child, too,” Mettaton said.  “You have his sense of humor.”
“I’ve been around a lot longer than him.” Chara crossed their arms.  “If anything, he has my sense of humor.”
“Fair enough, little cousin.”  He stuck out his tongue.  No fair.  “So, ah.  Since you already know what Alphys said… have you considered what you want to tell the others?”
“I’m not telling them I’m Chara.”
They’d picked a new name the first time they “died,” throwing away the name their human parents had inflicted on them.  They’d become Chara Dreemurr.  Then when they died for real, the Blook family had given them a new purpose, kept them from fading away with apathy.  They’d become Stabstablook, to the envy of their cousin Maddy.
They hadn’t chosen a new name while traveling inside Frisk.  They hadn’t needed to since Frisk had never asked.  Maybe they would’ve been Nobody, just for the pun.  It didn’t matter now; they’d traded in that opportunity when they’d stayed behind at their grave, keeping silent vigil with Flowey until he inevitably grew bored and disappeared.
How long ago had that been?  Long enough to dream of another lifetime, of a strange goopy skeleton and a human body that wasn’t their own.  “Kris” was a name that didn’t belong to them, that would be better off without their accidental interference.
They’d lived too many lifetimes to go back.  Chara and all those other names were dead.  The skeleton that had been pulled out of their grave was… someone else.
“I’ll pick out a new name eventually,” they mumbled. “Good job keeping Alphys from asking, by the way.”
“I wasn’t lying.  We both know how important names are.”  He brushed his hands off on his apron.  (Chara noticed that it said OH YES! over a picture of Mettaton’s box form in a chef hat.  Classy.)  “I won’t tell anyone who you are, but we have to tell them something.”
“I thought we already did.” Chara flicked glitter off of their shirt, even though the spaghetti stains made it unsalvageable.  “As far as Alphys knows, I am the biological child of you and Papyrus.”
Mettaton’s internal fans were deafening, and Chara couldn’t help flashing a toothy grin.  Alphys was the best.  They couldn’t have come up with a better (or more entertaining) excuse if they’d tried.
“There is only one tiny problem with that.” Mettaton winced.  “I haven’t, ah, actually gone out with Papyrus.  Yet, of course!  I’m sure that if I showed up at his house… with a bouquet of rose-shaped spaghetti… he would surely swoon into my arms!”
“Great.  Sounds like you’ve got it covered.” Chara flopped back on the couch, already tired from all of this talking.  It took more energy to be chatty now that they had to move a physical mouth.
Mettaton’s fists balled in frustration, but then he relaxed and stood up straighter.
“I do!  Everything will be covered in moi!”
“Especially Papyrus,” Chara said with a snicker.
That was how they found out that robots could blush.  Or maybe he was just so flustered that his ghostly abilities made it possible.
“If you were on my show, you’d be censored for a comment like that,” he hissed.
“Good thing we’re not on your show.” Chara winked.  They hadn’t realized how much they’d missed things like having a face.  Maybe Frisk would’ve laughed at Chara’s puns every once in a while if they’d had facial expressions to pair with them.
“Hmph.  Then I’ll… wash your mouth out with soap!”  He smirked smugly.  “That’s what human parents do, isn’t it?”
“...No?”  Chara hoped their voice didn’t sound too suspicious.  It was nice but strange, having a real voice again.  It echoed inside their skull and came out somewhat distorted. Was that effect what produced the “fonts” skeletons had? If so, they still didn’t know enough to identify their own.
“Anyway.” Their gaze flickered to the kitchen, which was half-hidden behind Mettaton’s head. “Your spaghetti’s burning, Dad.”
Mettaton’s eyes widened, though Chara couldn’t be sure if it was from the sarcastic title, or from him finally noticing the smoke billowing through the doorway.
“Papyrus says that adds flavor!” he insisted while running back to the kitchen, his apron trailing like a cape behind him.
Chara didn’t know if skeletons could taste.  Judging by the culinary choices they’d seen Sans and Papyrus ingest while inside Frisk, they didn’t think so.
If they could, Chara figured they were in for a worse time than having their mouth washed with soap.

Now I'm currently thinking about what the DF kids are up to during The Puppet and The Real Boy. Most of this won't be really relevant for a while buuuuuuut, just thought I'd put it here.
Got a bit long so it's under the cut. Interested in hearing more about where the Undertale/Deltarune cast has ended up by the time of TP&tRB? Shoot me an ask!
Starting with Asriel because he will end up being relevant the soonest. It was mentioned back in Chapter 5 that Asriel recently graduated film school. This is because Asriel decided to go into the film industry. He currently has a mid level script editing/writing job at Mettaton's Studio and has been waiting for his chance to possibly direct something bigger than some random commercials or short films. Out of all the gang, he lives the closest to Chicago as Azzie has an apartment in Meta City (A city that's not that long a drive from Ebbot and Hometown and where Chicago lives.)
As for Exxy? Goat cat plant boy still lives in Ebbot and helps Asgore out with his flower shop. Exriel dropped out of college a few years ago, giving up his degree in botanical engineering or something as he found college just wasn't for him. He's been trying to make it up by working on an online degree at his own pace. For now though, he regularly visits Asgore and Goat Dad's 3 adopted boys. Rupert, Wilbur and Yule. Exriel lives in a small starter home with his partner, an human named Emily, and his 4 year old kid, Elyxiem, aka Elli.
Chara ended up moving to Hometown with her partner, a human named Sara to open up a bakery like Sara's dads' had in Ebbot. Chara also runs a gym/work out studio and teaches self defense classes. Susie has been one of Chara's regulars, using the gym as a place to train up or pent out her anger. Chara and Sara live in the house that, in normal Deltarune is Toriel's house. However in Ish, I'm still working out stuff with that. I'm thinking maybe for a short while the DFs lived there around when the older kids went to college? Not all that long before the story of Deltarune takes place in Ish? idk, there's a lot of shuffling around I've had to do to make this timeline work. Regardless, currently Toriel, Sans, CK and Sariel all live back in their old house in Ebbot. With CK and Sariel going to school in Hometown after the schools in Ebbot closed. It's not that far a drive as the cities are next to each other and the DF's live near the border.
Finally, Frisk! Frisk finished their generals and is currently finishing up their law degree online from their home in Portalopolis. While they and MK would've preferred to actually live in Hometown or Ebbot, both to raise their 2 year old kid, Rebecca/Gecky, but also to be closer to family like Chara or Sans and Toriel, the closest they could get while also being close enough for work was the outskirts of Portalopolis, which borders Hometown. Frisk is finishing up their law degree so they can be an actual politician and be the proper ambassador of Monsters to Humans, even if they've technically held the title since they were eight. In reality, they were a figure head and someone else did the actual ambassador work (sadly not Papyrus.), but they've always wanted to get actually involved in it. Also it was either law school or med school and Frisk found law school to be the lesser of two evils easier of the two.

are you going to submit a character for ask dreemurr font family? i only ask because i saw Kylo Renalds and that somehow seemed like something you would do. idk. but he wasn't by you and now im just kinda curious what kind of child you would submit?
I don’t think I’m going to for now. At least until I am used to the universe yet. I know the kids are AU refugees. Still would like to get used to the universe before doing anything like that. Also I don’t think I’m experienced enough making characters beyond that wrassler for AFAC’s contest and my Shadow Monk in dnd. Even then I think it would be hard to keep from writing a novel for the backstory. >_>;;
As for what child I’d submit, I think personality-wise if I did it’d be based on mine, a nerd who enjoys reading webcomics and posting theories about them on the internet. Would probably see someone do magic and be like “Holy shit! that was awesome! I wish I could do that.”
And may or may not hope to one day call someone out on a malicious lie in a r/quityourbullshit manner as Pursuit - Cornered plays in their heads. xD;;
(Also, I look at Kylo Renalds and I immediately thought of Human-Maverick.)
