i hate how so many games don't support ds4 controller button prompts. ds4 support is broken on epic games. i had to mod MGR:R to make them work. now i'm playing Tunic and apparently it does support them, but they just aren't working. somewhere between Steam and the game there's a problem and it just assumes it's an xbox controller.

an aside: reddit is both super helpful and never helpful. it's super helpful in that it compiles resources and advice that you can search to solve lots of problems. it's never helpful in that if you ever have a problem that isn't covered by those resources, people will downvote and ignore you, or worst of all, they'll give you the advice you've already tried, then get mad at you when you say you tried it and it didn't work. they usually just leave you hanging, but sometimes they'll insult your intelligence, call you a liar, or otherwise make the problem Your Fault because their advice must be infallible. they can't give up the tiny bit of status they gained from helping you or assuming they know more than you, so they dismiss and belittle you, and you still never get an answer to the problem.

im sure this has been called "the help forum effect" or something, but in my mind it's The Reddit Effect.

Using the mouse to aim focus mode attacks goes hard as hell but in the same vein blocking on mouse and keyboard feels like hell so i'm not gonna be a charge blade perfect block master until i get a controller i guess lmao

i couldnt stand playing p4 for longer than 10 minutes but brain damaged saved my life its so good. i might give p4 another chance eventually but id rather play pbd 10 more times

DS4 Windows

This program let's you use a ps4 remote on windows. Often games will not understand ps4 controller inputs, this seems to basically make your computer think it's an xbox remote. Personally I prefer the ps4 remote, so I love this. It's also free.

turns out that if a controller has a ps4 controller layout and a ps4 button it does NOT mean it's a ps4 controller. i have this beautiful see through wired controller, but it's fucking nacon. meaning games won't recognize it as a controller to be giving native ps4 support to, and it's not supported by ds4windows either. meaning i have to go back to using a real ds4 if i want to see ps4 buttons for games that support it. problem with that is that pc bluetooth sucks ass and all my cables are short 😔

EXTREMELY important question, for dual joystick controllers, do you prefer them to be symmetrical like the dualshock series or offset like the every other one

personally i *adore* the second generation ds4's design, she's so so cute

A few hours in and the scariest part of Alice: Madness Returns is the ancient PC port. Like, I'm running this on a device that would be a supercomputer in 2011 but still getting random stutters and crashes. And this is after setting compatibility mode to Windows 7, as I originally failed to start in general. Oh, and it's very cool that I had to run the DS4 app bc it was acting as if there was no controller on Steam overlay.

Between just sitting on the rights and this decision not to patch for modern systems even tho game's still on sale, EA is once again proving they're deserving of their haters.

from the little bit of testing i did (i don't have my own 3ds w/ me, this is my sister's) i rly did luck out with the melon mix control scheme bc i dont even know how to actually move the camera here whereas on emulation i could just use the left analog stick on my ds4

It's true neither the one i bought or the one i got from my friend were brand name ones but damn it sucks to feel twice now the damn things just stop working little by little😭😭😭

I turned on my PS5 with my DualShock 4 but when I had last used it I was playing RE7 so I got the pop-up that’s like “hey dumbass you can’t use DS4 with PS5 games” but the light on the controller changed meaning the game recognized it as a valid controller so you cannot tell me it’s a technical limitation. they did that shit on purpose. if you don’t give Sony another $75 for plastic they will turn your console into a pipe bomb. and spit on your broke corpse

A small feature but took a while to get my head around, and a very common thing to have, Controller Glyphs and all of them following what is currently rebound.

Also added little things like: the icon for switching controllers also shows up no matter what, every HUD that's interactable also has labels now so you're not lost, and it force pauses during a Dungeon Run when the controller disconnects. That last one was something I never thought was an issue until I got a Bluetooth DS4 and it just randomly dying in the middle of any game.

Not perfect, as I was a little lazy to make specific icons to make it easier to read from a glance. But it should get the job done well.
