I think chilchuck is the first character I've seen people (myself included) DE-twinkify. Does this make sense

hi!! do you happen to know if thistle's age was mentioned anywhere? i'd heard that he was around 60 but took a peek at the new bible and his age is listed as unknown :x
I don't think it ever was.
but we can make some guesses (these are WILD very personal guesses btw)
he was brought to Delgal's father as a child, I think he looks 5 but definetly not older than 8, so I'd split the difference and say he's 6. Elves age around 5 times the rate of tallman so he'd be around 30~35.
Delgal's father already looked like an adult when he got Thistle and then he had Delgal, i'd assume that wouldnt be much later after thistle's arrival so I'll put him at around 35~40 when delgal is born
Delgal looks older when they finally get into the dungeon and he already has a son, tallmen in dungeon meshi live around 50 in average (I'd assume a king would live longer due to better lifestyle but still) maybe he's in his mid 30's when they get into the dungeon? I dont think he looks in his 20's and his child isnt very small either
That would indeed make Thistle's around his 60's by the time they went into the dungeon, lets say this was 30 years later Thistle would be between 65~70, that's not so far from 60 (unsure where the 60 came from) but even by this calculation thistle would be 14 in tallman years at the oldest when they went into the dungeon and stopped aging. I think the oldest you might argue for his age is 75? (which is 15)
If anyone has more concrete information please share!

Dungeon Meshi must be the only anime that can make me cry my heart out and then switch to a Yuri fanservice a second after and get away with it

I started watching Dungeon Meshi because it was a nice anime that was fun and helped me chill out before going to bed. I could watch an episode and I wouldn't feel such an irresistible need to click the next episode button, so that helped. (I don't want to get hooked on a series bcs if I did, I'd stop doing anything except watching it until I finish that. And that's inconvenient cause, well, I HAVE to work).
But then, the plot got better and better, and now I'm a bit obsessed and I'm loving it so much.
The thing is... Now that it's over... Omg guys I need more. And I guess I should just read the manga, but it's not the same😭 reading a manga consumes much more energy than watching anime and when I have free time I'm too tired for that😔
Boy I didn't expect this anime to be SO GOOD I'm so amazed it's so amazing. At first I thought "oh it's good, it's nice and entertaining and chill, just what I was looking for. But I don't think it's as good as my faves"
And now??? It has become ONE of my favourite animes. Seriously just WOW.

this is quite random but i was thinking abt someone in dunmesh who becomes an artificer (equivalent, ik it doesnt have strict roles) bc they suck at other magic right? then i realized magic isnt some arcane thing here, its commanding/communicating with spirits. do you have any thoughts on how an artificer might work here? or any other class equivalent?
OK!!! So I'm actually really excited to get this ask because my dunmeshi OC is actually an artificer! They’re a dwarven magic researcher specializing in ancient languages who becomes an artificer to overcome the low magic tolerance that dwarves have!
However, while I have been putting a lot of thought into how an artificer would work in dunmeshi, I feel like I am too unfamiliar with the two dunmeshi magic systems (I'm not finished with the manga and am too scared of spoilers to deeply research it yet) to say that I based it off canon.
In my head, artificer magic relies a lot on glyphs and symbols, such as carving symbols and spells into objects and then activating it with a little bit of mana which is just a fraction of the mana it would take to do the spell like a caster would. I think that this would work because there definitely seems to be evidence of similar magic already existing (such as the tattoos that were-creatures seem to have or the fact that the teleportation spell people use to leave the dungeon uses two physical items to work).
That being said, I can also see it being based in the same ancient magic that Marcille uses, writing magic circles/ glyphs that tie the item to the dimension with infinity, allowing you to do certain things with it depending on the circles/ glyphs. That, of course, would also make it highly illegal, but maybe that's an element you'd want to add to your character. (I'm considering it for my character given their specialty in ancient languages).
I think you can do a lot of cool things with a dunmeshi artificer, especially given the technology we've seen dwarves have, so I think there must be a way to make it work! I'm sorry that I'm not well researched enough to go into more detail than this, but thank you so much for the ask! I absolutely love getting asks, especially ones like this! Feel free to send any more thoughts, questions, or feedback!

Thinking abt how Marcille is just so young compared to her lifespan. She is only 50 years old out of (potentially) 1000. And that explains a lot of her character to me. Love Marcille.

#she’s so smart and that makes her feel mature when in reality she is immature like Im not good at words so idk if I am explaining this well#but sometimes she really gives off that vibe of a teenager who thinks they know everything but#in reality#they are so young#like a teenager can know a lot and seem mature but they are still a kid#idk Marcille reminds me of that sometimes but also she is an adult idk#dungeon meshi thoughts

I finally started Dungeon Meshi (if you see posts from me claiming I haven't, they were queued)
Is it me or the instructions on how to eat a slime sounds like how you would go about eating snails
...Ngl, that kinda makes sense now that i think about it lol

Learning lore from each character feels organic and natural despite everyone being so close and protective of one another.
They fought a whole red dragon and still don't know where each other is from or if they have loved ones outside of the dungeon.

I understand that tall men are our POV characters, but surely being like a foot taller than everyone around them would have some occasional consequences
#youd think thisd happen at least a little bit#I love stuff in fantasy where they'll occasionally talk about how weird humans are. it comes up a few times in the story but honestly I do#love it a lot. especially that troll stuff I thought that was pretty cool#laios touden#falin touden#marcille donato#dungeon meshi#delicious in dungeon#chilchuck tims#arts#GODAMN IT I SPELT HIS NAME WRONG I KNEW I SHOULD HAVNT HAVE RUSHED THE DIALOUGE
