Fíli is the kind of person, who when woken up by a crash at 3 AM and coming upon a raccoon, that fell through the ceiling and is actively rampaging his apartment, will softly sigh "aww man", before putting on a bike helmet and oven mitts and getting a broom to gently herd it out of the door, while Kíli goes apeshit in the background and stands on a chair and shrieks.

How do you imagine hybrids work in love and legends? We've seen elf/humans.

So there are 6 different species and aside from the mermaids, they're all compatable to have children.

I headcanon life expectancy, colouration, and the shape of facial or body features to be gradient traits, so they pretty much randomly combine between the two parents like any other child

Magical traits are probably more binary. So a fairy hybrid child could inherit the eyes, wings, and/or sparkles, or none, with no middle ground. A demon hybrid will usually inherit a faded form of the markings, but they won't always be able to transform or earn horns. Dwarf hybrids might inherit the ability to echolocate vs just having larger ears.

If two species with strong magic have a child, they're more likely to inherit magical traits (e.g. elves and fairies with strong magic vs humans and dwarves with low magic)

Considering the domains are all friendly with each other, I imagine it's fairly common to have mixed ancestry and there's no real taboo aside from the grief of lifespan differences

Imagine: dying Ace appoints a teenage Rimmer to take his place. Rimmer grows up as Ace. In every universe, he finds himself and a Lister. Always together, always some sort of dynamic duo. Except.... this Rimmer never even *met* his Lister. He left his universe too soon. Think of the loneliness that he'd feel, realizing he never got to meet the one person he's supposed to find in every reality.

Do you have a favorite headcannon for cultural differences between Hobbits and Dwarves? I love cultural differences for the Hobbit and am always down to hear others opinions on what those might be.

Well I love the trope of miscommunication due to cultural differences. My 'favorite miscommunication' is the reason for gift giving. As in Hobbits frequently giving gifts which more often than not are homemade, like pies or jam, knitted or sewed items, a little figure carved from wood, etc. Hobbits give gifts to show appreciation or simply for the pleasure of sharing. Sometimes, because it is polite. So giving and receiving a gift is not that much of a deal and sometimes even expected.

For the dwarves, the significance of gift giving depends on certain factors:

Is the gift handmade?

Is the receiver related to the giver or has a close relationship to them (like bonds forged in battle, strong friendship,...)?

What is the reason for giving the gift? Simple appreciation or a certain intend?

How does the receiver react to the gift?

Giving gifts between family members is fine and happens frequently without big ceremonies or tamtam. If two shield brothers, who have fought together for some time or who survived a harsh battle together, give a gift to one another, it's to show appreciation or to gift something that ensures better protection (to show you wamt your shield brother to survive a long time).

However dwarves do not simply give, solely for the pleasure of it, but with intent. And based on the circumstances named above, the intent of the gift giver can be understood from outside viewers.

Now the company has been giving gifts to Bilbo. Because he is their comrade, who has fought beside him, because he is their friend, because be saved their lives. (Because they want to keep him.) Bilbo, during their journey, hasn't really been able to reciprocate. There wasn't much he could cook or bake, the food was too scarce. Most nights, he was too anxious to get into his storyteller mindset and give the dwarves a tale of their own. The dwarves don't really mind, that Bilbo does not give them a gift back in turn. The gifts aren't given with the implication of having to give back after all. But for Bilbo, it is a terrible rudeness and he can't wait to be able to give back.

Both parties get really confused by the abundance of gifts and the reactions of the receivers.

lotr species as plants:

Dwarf's as lemon trees 🍋

They are lemon trees. They live fairly long lives, but since these lemon trees aren't in the sunlight so much, they don't grow so tall. Lemon trees carry golden fruit that are sour.

Elf's as oak 🌳

Trees that can live hundreds of years. They are tall and can see far away. Oaks are loved by many animals and plants that don't mind being around them. And every fall season their nuts fall off, which attract the birds and squirrels.

Humans as weeds 🌿

Yes, you read right. Weeds grow fast and have a shorter lifespan in comparison to other plants. They grow and live in places others think are impossible. Can be a pain in the ass to get rid of. If they grow freely in the right places some of them can shine beautifully. And many animals like to be around.

Hobbits as strawberry plants 🍓

A lot of people and animals like them. Loves to be fed by the sunlight! Stays close to the ground and are colorful. They're fairly quick to reproduce. If you have one, you will often end up with four or more without warning. 

Goblins as a Venus flytrap 💀

Always stays in larger groups. Can eat basically anything, which can look pretty disgusting in another person's point of view. Doesn't like to dry out and tries to keep a distance from too hot and sunny places. Not the biggest plants either.

This has been laying around in my folder for months unfinished. I wanted to write for all species, but I lost the inspiration when I got a new ps game that I have played a lot lately. Maybe I will get back into writing for the rest with part 2 another time when inspiration for lotr comes back. That's it, I hope you enjoy reading these anyway! <3
