Ear protection!! It's so important for a lot of autistics. Mainly for us. We need ear protection 24/7 but at times we don't think we need them, and we regret it after.. We get overstimulated quickly. But the mornings are so hectic we forget our ear protection, whether it's our headphones or earplugs, and it was bad. This is your reminder. Ear protection protects us. It protects you. It helps us. It helps you. Wear your ear protection. ☂️ - Allison

ok serious request for advice, please!!! i have struggled with noise sensitivity for most of my life but the last year or so it seems to be getting even worse. ANY suggestions for practical or coping strategies to help me deal with this would be IMMENSELY appreciated.
more info: i live in a relatively quiet house and area but am still struggling every single day to cope with noise. the sounds of my family slamming doors and cabinets, moving around plates and utensils in the kitchen, and even the click of the mechanisms any time a door is opened in my house are SO incredibly loud to me that it is startling and physically painful every time. i am usually in my room with the door closed and fan on at all times and everything is STILL so loud. i have to sleep with earplugs in even though it hurts my ears because every sound wakes me up, and even with them in i can’t sleep if someone is using the washing machine or other devices in the house. i bought expensive noise-cancelling earphones which do help, but even with them on the noises are loud. more people are home right now for thanksgiving and i don’t know how i’m going to deal with it without melting down completely.
please please please, leave any suggestions or resources you can think of. options for soundproofing, comfortable ear plugs, best coping techniques, how to try to talk to my family about this kind of thing, anything at all.

Sensory issues. My opinion on Loop earplugs. Not good for noisy restaurant. Everything is lowered in volume the same amount. Yes the restaurant isn't as noisy anymore, but I still can't hear at my table over the remaining noise any better since they're quieter too.
Very good for movie theater. It's like taking the remote control and just tapping the down volume. Really rekindled my love for watching movies. Makes it a very pleasant experience. I assume this would be good for concerts too as long as no one was gonna talk to you. Cons: They do suffer a bit from the amplification of your own head sounds (cronchin' on popcorn gonna sound a little louder to you than normal, since that isn't being dampened by the loops like everything else is) but not as bad as foam earplugs. Pros: Doesn't sound muffled like foam earplugs. Also most people just think you have cool jewelry on.

COMMISSION ME!!!
So I can buy myself earplugs and a chewelry because living in this house as an (about to be diagnosed) autistic person is a NIGHTMARE🥹
My Commission Sheet
Just some the gems that happen here EVERY DAY:
- I live with my grandma and she has the TV on full volume bc she cannot hear (well I can, pretty well, and it's TORTURE)
- my uncle has the TV in the other half of the house on full AS WELL, sometimes even blasting music
- no one goes to bed till around 10-11:30 pm so obviously the TVs are on, people are chatting etc while I'm trying to sleep (spoiler alert: I can't)
- my mom makes this GOD AWFUL sound with her mouth occassionally that DRIVES ME CRAZY and she WON'T STOP
- my grandma wheezes when she breathes (like, all the time)
- my uncle chews SO. LOUDLY...
- NO ONE can put the dishes in the sink without making such orbital sounds that my ears start to bleed
I'm about to go insane... /halfsrs
These happen every day and there are MORE that happen occassionally. In short terms: I live in an autistic nightmare. And I have this "thing" I hate SO much... I am always moving my jaw and snapping my teeth together when I'm not aware and it usually hurts after a rough day, idk why or what that is, but yeah I desperately need a chewelry or something.
Anyway, thank you if you read all this! Have a great day! 🫶
