Noise Canceller Poll!!
Tumblr media
All the time, people call my Ear Defenders "headphones" and I *hate* it. I dislike it because it feels like they are calling them are want instead of the need they are and, as I need them for education and work purposes and this misnomer makes people think they have batteries (when they don't) and leads to people trying to make me remove them, however, I can also understand someone liking this term as it can help normalize your device and make you feel less "odd" or like you stick out. I wanted to see if many of the latter exist before making a post about this subject. I would love as much data as possible, so please share.

god tier combo.
loop earbuds, headphones, full volume music.
idk what's different about it, how exactly it sounds different then just lowering the volume, but it is literally the best thing ever.
I think its the way it drowns out the background noises while not blasting my eardrums. like jerry rigging a sound canceling function on my 7-dollar headphones.

does anyone have any recommendations for good quality ear defenders ?? ive been using wired noise cancelling headphones for over a year now, but the noise cancelling aspect stopped working a few months ago, so they just muffle sounds now.
id appreciate any that aren't bluetooth or anything !! just regular non tech based ear defenders; i think ive had enough of headphones lol. and if you find anything, please comment/send the link to me !! i have a hard time finding certain things online sometimes.
thank you !!!

Wearing ear protection 24/7 is okay. It's valid. If you need it, you need it. If you want to, do it. We wear ours pretty much all day every day. and that's okay.

I got these dbud earplugs and oh my god it’s been a game changer!! I love how they just take the edge off sound without making me completely unable to hear anything because I have this fear of missing what people are saying if it’s important. It’s like the sounds can’t penetrate my skull anymore. And not having the constant background noise is kind of weird at first but really peaceful. They do kinda hurt my ears after a while but they’re great, I wish I had started wearing them sooner.

Finally accommodating my needs and purchasing a pair of noise-canceling headphones for when I'm out has single-handedly been one of the best steps forward I have taken in accepting my autism and working with it vs against it that I have taken in my 23 years of life.
