ALL of these intrigue me, and I'm making laser eyes from my trash can at the Crossecho one, but since it looks like I might get to read that one eventually, I'm curious to know what the Crosswrecker one was about! ♡
wip game thingy!
I'll give you a lil slice of both because it's you, bro! ♥ Thank you for asking!
"long ride home"
A canon divergence set between seasons 1-2 of TBB, where the Batch don't leave Crosshair on Kamino, but he insists on going back to the Empire anyway, so Echo agrees to temporarily split from the group and give him a lift back. Cue the two of them having some pretty tough conversations about loyalty, morality, autonomy etc. but then of course this develops into Other feelings because I am mushy, haha.
I'm teamed up with @ann-i-inthestars who's made some lovely art to go along with it, very excited for this one ♥♥♥
crosshair/wrecker thing
Set in the same universe as "my heart is not a machine", and serves as a bit of context for Crosshair and Wrecker's specific dynamic, with some reference to the rest of TBB polycule. With the series being from Echo's POV I didn't really get a chance to explore the other dynamics as much so I actually have a bunch of little concepts in my head for some connected oneshots I wanna finish someday :')
I've put a lil excerpt under the cut!
When they were four, he and Wrecker fought.
These days, Crosshair can’t really remember what it was about—a snack, maybe, or something he’d said—but he remembers what happened after with a near-perfect clarity.
A hand around his wrist, a quick, hard pull, and just like that he was yanked off his feet and flying through the air.
The wall caught him, hard. Crosshair doesn’t remember it hurting as much as he remembers Wrecker’s face, no longer scrunched in anger but slack with horror, his eyes wide. He remembers how he’d looked at his hands, the way they’d started to shake. Like they didn’t belong there. Like they didn’t belong anywhere.
It wasn’t the first time, and it wasn’t the last. Each time, Nala Se would sweep Wrecker off on his own somewhere; sometimes even for days at a time. Tech would fixate and Hunter would fret, and Crosshair would make the bed in Wrecker’s empty alcove, tucking the sheets in tight but leaving the dent in the pillow.
Wrecker always came back, but they’d all wondered if one day he might not.

I read the hcs where the reader proposes to the boys- could you do the reaction of the reader when the boys propose to them?🥺
Everybody me calm down because this is my first ever request. And I just got so excited.
Of course, I can do it! This also turned out a little bit as how the boys would propose but I hope it meets your expectation! 🥰💜
Here it is:
Hunter
- Hunter takes you to the beach for a picnic. He talks more than usual, smiles like an idiot. He is so excited but so nervous at the same time.
- He already prepared everything, he went there before and bought a wine, snacks and flowers, and music in the background, of course.
- There’s nobody but two of you. The sun about to set.
- He gets you up for a slow dance.
- As you dance, he tells how much you mean to him.
- He stops and holds one of your hands, he gets on his knee.
- You know what’s about to come up.
- Your heart goes brrrrrrrr !!!!
- ‘‘It has been always you and will forever be you, Cyare. Will you marry me?’’
- You’re about to cry, is this real?
- ‘‘Forever?’’
-  ‘‘Forever.’’
- ‘‘Promise?’’
- ‘‘I Promise.’’
- ‘‘YES!’’
- You scream so loud that luckily nobody around you.
Tech
- Tech knows what to do, he always does.
- He takes you out to the dinner. He says let’s wear something fancy this time as though we’re just normal couples.
- His jaw drops when he sees you in a dress that you looking all stunning and he once again realizes, you are what he wants.
- While you eat your dessert, he takes out the ring and puts right next to your hand.
- Tech’s like :)
- And you’re ????
- ‘‘Will you marry me?’’
- ‘‘You made that ring?!’’
- ‘‘Uhm, that doesn’t answer my question.’’ He starts sweating.
- ‘‘Tech, this looks awesome!’’
- He coughs,  ‘‘I’m glad you love it, I made it thinking about you.’’
- You can't take your eyes off the ring because it is awesome. ‘‘Can I wear it?’’ you say excitedly.
- He sweats more, ‘‘Of course, Cyare, you can.’’
- You put the ring on your finger,  ‘‘Oh, sorry. What did you say?’’
- ‘‘I said, will you marry me?’’
- Your eyes wide open, you can’t say anything for a while.
- Tech dies more inside waiting for you to answer.
- You smile, ‘‘Yes, Tech. I will marry you.’’
- He relaxes, you both get up from chairs to kiss. He holds by your waist and pull you closer to himself. ‘‘Finally.’’
Wrecker
- Wrecker knows only way to propose to you and he’s sure that you’ll love it.
- He is right.
- You both are carving pumpkins in the garden of your house.
- He insistently doesn’t show you what he is doing. He says it’s a surprise.
- It really is btw.
- Wrecker finishes it before you and he orders you to close your eyes.
- You wait for him to allow you to open them again.
- When you do, you rub your eyes to make sure if what you’re reading is true, that pumpkin says, ‘‘Will you marry me?’’
- ‘‘So, what do you say?’’ he says with a proud grin on his face.
- ‘‘I say, YES!’’
Echo
- You come home only to see rose leaves all over the floor, candles and some silly photos you and Echo take.
- He waits for you in the living room. He holds a bouquet of flowers.
- He gets up to greet you, kisses your cheeks and hands you the flowers.
- You wonder what’s this all of this for, it not your dating anniversary or anything.
- ‘‘What’s happening, Echo?’’
- He wears you a crown made of daisies on your head.
- He doesn’t answer your question, he take off the ring from his pocket.
- ‘‘I’ll make it short, will you marry me?’’
- You can’t believe your eyes, you love Echo so much, you both has always been for each other, you always dreamed about this but...but you can't see that coming. It catches you off guard.
- ‘‘It’s okay if you don’t want to.’’
- ‘‘Echo, are you kidding me? I love you so much, I always wanted this!’’
- ‘‘So?’’
- You throw your arms around his neck, ‘‘Yes! Of course, yes!’’
Crosshair
- Crosshair does not exactly sure how to propose to you, it gets on his nerves.
- He doesn’t even sure if you’d say yes or not. Normally, he’d be very good at observing people but you’re the only one he can’t exactly figures it out and to him, this makes you even hotter.
- He thought about putting the ring on your finger when you’re asleep.
- Then he thought how silly this is.
- He wants to do it when he’s alone with you.
- He kicks his brothers out of the house.
- He decided to do it on the tub. Having a bath together is a thing you do it once in a while, so you wouldn’t notice anything.
- He brings a wine with himself and doesn’t care to pour it to the glass, he drinks it from the bottle.
- You are shocked because he usually doesn’t drink that much. You ask if something’s wrong.
- Crosshair says nothing but kiss your lips.
- Then he says, ‘‘I will tell you something but don’t freak out.’’
- ‘‘You don’t freak out.’’
- He sighs and reaches for the ring.
- He gives you the ring and asks, ‘‘Will you marry me?’’
- You definitely don’t expect this from him. You cup his face and look at his eyes for any doubt.
- You can’t help but say,  ‘‘I’ll almost think you love me.’’ jokingly.
- He rolls his eyes, ‘‘Well, I just proposed to you.’’
- You kiss his lips this time.
- ‘‘I will consider this as yes.’’
- You nod, ‘‘Yes.’’

(The Bad Batch) Tech x Reader: Pause - PART 2
(Set during episode 3 “Replacements”)
SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 3 below if you haven’t seen it yet!
Note:  I had multiple people ask for a second part to the first one, and I had so much fun writing it, so here we are!  This had me swooning at 8 in the morning while I was writing up the end!  I really hope you enjoy!
Link to Part 1 (set during episode 2)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“I should’ve gone with them,” you muttered to yourself, staring through the viewport of the ship into the darkness outside.  “Omega is so young.  She really shouldn’t have gone in the first place.”
“Hunter will look after her,” Tech spoke up as he welded a few parts of the ship together at one of the main consoles.  He didn’t take his eyes off the project in front of him, only spoke over his shoulder.  It gave you room to admire his profile for a moment while he so diligently worked.
“You’re right,” you sighed.  “But still, I can’t help but worry.  Please give me something to do so I don’t drive myself crazy thinking about it.”
Echo chuckled as he worked on a separate console on the other side of the cockpit, nodding you over.  “You could hold these sheets of metal while I screw them back into place.”
“Yes, sir.”  You clambered past the assorted parts and pieces that littered the space, catching your foot on a particularly heavy chunk of metal.  It made your eyes water.  “Okay, ow.”
“Are you alright?” Tech actually paused his endeavor and pulled his helmet up to glance your way.
“Yeah,” you replied, shaking off the pain.  “I just tripped on this thing.”
   “Be careful.”
“No worries, I’ll try not to break any of the parts.”
“The parts weren’t what I was concerned about.”
Your gaze found his for a split second before he lowered his helmet back on and resumed welding.  Rather than dwell on it too much, you turned your attention back to Echo and took hold of the metal sheets so he could screw them into place properly.  Wrecker was causing a bit of a commotion in the back of the ship, most likely putting together the room he announced he was going to make for Omega after she and Hunter had departed.  You were touched by his gesture and listened with amusement to the sounds of stuff being dragged around and dropped back there.
“Hey, _________!” he called.  “Could you give me a hand with something?”
You exchanged looks with Echo who had finished replacing all the sheet metal on his side by now.  He gave you a nod, letting you know he could spare you for a minute.
“I’ll be right back,” you told him.  You headed down the hall to see Wrecker holding a strand of lights in his hand with the other hand ghosting over the spot where he hit his head during the crash.  “What’s up?”
“Can you hold this end of the strand?  While I hand the other side?”
You smiled.  “Sure.  You know,  this is really nice of you.  Omega is going to love it.”
   “You think?”
“I know it, Wrecker.”  The two of you exchanged grins before setting to work on hanging the lights.  Wrecker paused when he reached the end of the strand, and you were struggling to hold it up so high.  “Uh, what’s the hold up?”
“I took too many hooks,” he said.
“Oh,” you nodded.  “Well here, you hang the last part, and I’ll put the rest of the hooks away.”  He dropped the set of hooks into your palm, and you made your way to a compartment where the squad kept miscellaneous supplies.  On your way through the doorway, you encountered a figure on its way out.
The first thing you registered was Tech’s eyes widening slightly in surprise as the two of you ended up squeezed in the small space together, nearly chest-to-chest.
   “Sorry, ________.”
“No, it’s my bad,” you insisted.  “I didn’t look before going in.”
“Well, I didn’t look before going out.”
Meanwhile, neither of you had moved from the spot.  His close proximity sent your heart racing as he gazed down at you, close enough that you could lean in a few inches and kiss him if you wanted- which you did want, of course.  Did he?
“Everything going okay up there?” you asked.
“Yes, most of the individual parts repairs are complete.  “All we need now is that capacitor.”
“That’s good news.”  Your face fell a little.  “I just hope Hunter and Omega both make it back alright.”
His gaze was so sincere as he responded, “they will." The hand he had just rested on your shoulder twitched as he hesitantly pulled it away.  “We, ah, never had a chance to talk on Saleucami.”
You nodded.  “Yeah, things have been a little crazy.  What was it you wanted to talk about?”
“I recall we both had something to speak to the other about.”
You suddenly felt bashful and tore your eyes from his and let them fall to the floor.  “Well, you first.”
He went quiet for a moment.  “Alright.”  He inhaled deeply as if gathering the nerve.  “I wanted to speak with you because over the course of our missions together, I’ve developed feelings-”
“_________!”  Wrecker called, his thudding footsteps nearing the closet.
Tech clamped his mouth shut while you replied before he reached the closet.
   “Yeah, Wrecker?”
“Omega’s room is done!  Wanna’ see?”
“Oh, awesome!  I’ll be there in a minute!”
His footsteps faded down the hall again, and you glanced back at Tech with a chuckle.  He adjusted his goggles, a small smile on his face at the amusement of the situation.  You were convinced that he was about to say what you really, really wanted to hear.
“Anyway, as I was saying,” he continued.  “I’ve developed feelings for you, _________.  It’s never happened before, and I only know from what I’ve read that the proper thing for me to do would be to tell you and to ask to court you, if you wish to do so.”
Your heart was fluttering, eyes were watering, and the smile on your face grew even wider.  “Tech, I feel the same way,” you told him.  “I know this situation we’re in as a squad isn’t conventional, but I do have feelings for you and would love to ‘court.’”  The last word broke off into another giddy laugh.  You only had to move forward a few inches to wrap your arms around his form in an embrace.  It wasn’t super comfortable with his armor on, but it felt right when you pressed your cheek against his chest plate, and you felt his chin on your head.  The two of you stood there squeezing each other for a minute or so and listened to the quiet breaths that filled the air.  Then, you pulled your head away to angle your face up towards his, and he accepted the invitation.  His eyes fell closed as he kissed your lips.  It was warm and a sort of relief washed over you as your hands traveled up to grip his shoulders while his pulled you in tighter.  He was still a little rigid at first, but as soon your lips moved against his he responded.
Your back fell against the cool metal wall as his lips chased yours.
“Ah, sorry,” he murmured.  You bit your lip and smiled, leaning in for another kiss.
“It’s okay,” you assured him.  “Didn’t bother me.”
The moment was beautifully awkward as he pulled away to stare at you like he had many times before.  The pause went on longer than you expected, so you finally spoke again in a humorous tone.
   “What?”
“I’m just admiring your beauty,” he said, reaching up to run his thumb down from your forehead to the tip of your nose, a small gesture that made you smile again.  “So many times I wanted to have this moment.”
“Well, now it’s here.”  Then, your brows went up.  “Oh, I need to go see Omega’s room.  I told Wrecker I’d be there in a minute.”
Tech was hesitant to let you go, but he seemed to understand.  He most likely also wasn’t up for a situation where Wrecker would come looking for you and see the two of you in the supply closet.  Even if he didn’t see any lips making contact, the jokes would go on and on for the rest of the time on this moon.  Neither of you were entirely up for it.  You’d let the rest of the squad know about your new relationship when the time was right, though Hunter might pick up on it before then.  He was pretty observant.
“I’ll go with you,” Tech said.  “Wrecker will want me to see the room anyway.”
   “Okay,” you nodded.
“Ladies first.”  He gestured to the small doorway, and you grinned.  You took his hand and headed out the door first, him following behind.  Neither of you let go until you neared the room where Wrecker was showing Echo already.
“There you two are!” Wrecker said.  “Check it out!”  He gestured to the room past the lifted curtain to show the space he had made for Omega, and you gushed at how great it looked while he stood there proudly.  The lights shone in your eyes and reflected off Tech’s goggles beside you.
There had been some rough times behind you, and there were sure to be more ahead.  The galaxy was in disarray while this new Empire claimed it was order.  The squad had lost one member.  Everyone missed Crosshair, but there was hope of bringing him back.
This moment felt like another pause from all of that.  It was a day of new beginnings.

pt v, pt vii
XXXXXXX
It had been a week ever since your break in Coruscant. That time and the moments that followed have been playing in your head non-stop ever since you got back to Kamino. However, once you got back, you were swamped with work. You were one of the only non-clone communications officers based on Kamino, so you had to deal with some data that came in from off-planet bases. It was frustrating to say the least and most of the clones who dealt with communication for their squadron left most of their work unprocessed, so you basically had to clean up after them. Due to work being unprocessed and sorted could cause a malfunction or even a virus to attack the computer system on Kamino. That would result in multiple horrible outcomes if the separatists get access to anything on the clones or any other upcoming projects the Kaminoans were working on for the Republic.
It seemed like you were living in that communications room because none of the boys really saw you anywhere else. It concerned them greatly and they decided to intervene before you die from overworking yourself. You were typing away on the computer when the door slid open which let in the batch one by one. You didn’t bother to turn to acknowledge them as you were sorting out multiple files.
“Mesh’la?” Hunter called.
“Hm.” You responded nonchalantly, still working.
“You’ve been at this for 93 hours, 34 minutes, and 20 seconds.” Tech explained while looking at one of his devices, “Working at this rate is concerning and unhealthy, especially for a simple being like you.”
“Huh… so if a clone were doing this they’d be able to work just a bit longer?” You asked, not looking away from the computer.
“What he’s trying to say, cyare, is that you need to take a break…” Echo insisted, placing one hand on your shoulder.
“I’m almost done, I swear.” You murmured, looking over data being transferred.
“Lucky for you, darling. I’ve created a program to help sort stuff out.” Tech went to the computer and plugged a small goober into one of the ports on the console, “It’ll notify me when it’s done sorting.”
“Come on, ad’ika, time for rest!” Wrecker moved to pick you up and carry you out of the communications room while the others followed.
You all arrived to their room and Wrecker tossed you onto one of the bunks, which caused you to laugh gently. You sighed, relished the feel of the bed under you, then it dipped slightly. You looked to see Hunter with a gentle smile on his face, which you returned before he pulled you up onto his lap. You pushed off the bandana around his forehead which caused some hair to fall into his face so you pushed it away for him. He held you closer, placed his face into your chest, and sighed.
“You alright, Hunter?’ You murmured, caressing the hair on the back of his neck.
“He’s missed you, like the rest of us have.” Echo smiled while cleaning his mechanical hand.
“It wasn’t like I was off-planet. I was just working.”
“Well, the idea of you working usually involves being with us most of the time.” Tech explained, “So it was odd not seeing you for such a long period of time.”
You hummed before kissing Hunter’s head, “I missed you all too…”
The next day, all of you were sent on an important mission. The Kaminoans didn’t give you much detail, only saying that it was urgent. You sat on the Havoc Marauder, looking over the map of the planet on your holopad.
“We have to be careful, this planet is famous for raiders, thieves, and smugglers.” You stated, looking everything over.
“We’ve handled much worse than that combined!” Wrecker laughed while slapping Tech’s back, almost causing him to drop the device he was holding. You shook your head, made your way out of the cockpit, and found Crosshair cleaning the parts of his sniper rifle.
“Do you think it’ll come to that?” You murmured, crouching beside him.
“Have to be prepared for anything, sarad. Especially on a planet like this.”
You nodded gently, picking up one of the pieces, “You should teach me…”
“How to put it together, or how to shoot?”
“Both… but we can take it one step at a time.” You looked at him with a smile.
He hooked your chin, “Well, let’s work on your aim without a blaster first. And test how good your eyesight is. When we get back to Kamino, I’ll show you the shooting range.”
“Kamino has a shooting range?”
Your question caused Crosshair to smirk as he finished cleaning all the pieces.
You shook your head with a small laugh, “I guess I don’t know Kamino as well as I should.”
He nodded gently and helped you up. Before you could move away from him, he grasped your wrist. His smirk was gone, his eyes were now focussed, and his stature became tense. He raised his other hand to cup your cheek and look into your eyes.
“You stay close to us…”
“I know, Cross…”
He nodded before going to the gunner’s mount to wait there until you landed. You strapped in as you were arriving at your destination. Once you landed, you all geared up and got ready to tread through the town to reach your target. You wore simple civilian clothing because it wasn’t safe to be wearing a Republic uniform full of outlaws and mercenaries. You pulled up the hood of your cloak over your head before nodding to Hunter. You all then left the ship and headed into town.
Tech was using a tracking device while you walked the streets, he was babbling on while you and the others looked cautiously at your surroundings. There were multiple stalls along the edge of the dirt street, selling many different things including spice, weaponry, and droid parts. You were in the center of the batch, and they urged themselves closer as if to shield you from danger. Hunter turned his head to you, which caused you to nod reassuringly. Even if you couldn’t see his eyes through the visor of his helmet, you knew he was checking up on you. You all then turned into a vacant alleyway to discuss how you will find the target faster. The boys discuss different strategies and you tried to listen to them, but then the crack of a whip caused your attention to be caught outside of the alleyway. One of the vendors was holding the weapon and using it against a young twi’lek. They were speaking two different languages, so the chaos was uncontrollable. You winced while watching and couldn’t stand it any longer. The batch noticed at the last second that you had rushed out of the alley to stop what was happening.
“Lodestar!” One of them called to you, but you ignored it and blocked the vendor from hitting the young twi’lek again.
“That’s enough!”
The vendor growled, “The little slave was stealing from my stall!”
You quickly placed down some currency, “Now it is paid for.”
The vendor took the money and scoffed, “They are lucky this time. Next time, I will tell their master.”
You shook your head and urged the twi’lek away from the stall. Then you crouched down and looked at the child’s injuries, whispering gently. You were lucky enough to be familiar with many languages due to your past, so making conversation with the young twi’lek wasn’t hard. Footsteps approached the both of you, so you let the child run off and turned to see the batch. It was going to be no surprise that they were upset with you, so you said nothing and followed them. Tech had found the location of the target, so you all moved quickly. You had to separate due to the package you had to retrieve being heavily guarded. You were with Tech, helping him monitor the motion inside of the small building where your package was being held. You scanned the holopad before speaking into your communicator.
“Careful, Hunter. There are multiple bodies coming toward you.”
“See them. Find how many are guarding the package.”
Tech diligently moved the camera and you watch on the holopad.
“There,” You signalled Tech to stop and looked over the thermal radar, “Five that I can see, Hunter.”
“Cross, what’s your status?”
“None up top. All clear here.”
“Wrecker, Echo?”
“Almost have the grate open.” Echo responded.
“Charges are all set.” Wrecker confirmed.
You winced gently, looking down at your arm where the whip had caught you. You thought it was only a graze on the fabric, but it was deeper and blood was staining your sleeve. Tech saw it and was about to say something, but then there was noise near where you two were hiding. It was one of the guards and he was sniffing around. Your eyes widened and you looked to Tech before placing the holopad in his hands carefully.
“Our location is about to be compromised, I’m moving now.” You said quickly before climbing up to the roof of the building next to you. You looked over the ledge and kicked a small piece of rubble, getting the guard. He looked up and saw you. You smiled gently before running along the tops of the buildings. He ran along the street following your trail.
“Cross, I’m coming to you.”
“Excellent.” He responded and he started to set up his rifle before you reached him. You jumped onto the roof where he was set up and turned to see the guard shot down. He then stood up and looked at you. You sensed the disappointment.
What?”
“You were reckless today.”
“I stayed close.” You shrugged, looking at the cut on your arm. He grabbed it gently and looked at it.
“How did you not notice that?”
You were quiet while looking at him, but then a small glint caught your eye and you gasped before pushing him away from you.
Blaster noises distracted the team from the mission, knowing it came from your and Crosshair’s location. Hunter had retrieved the package and had come out of the grate where Echo and Wrecker were..
“Lodestar! Come in!” Static.
“Crosshair!” Silence.
Then, guards started to rush around the corner. The three batchers rushed away and Wrecker had set off the explosives he placed around that area.
“Tech, head back to the Havoc Marauder! Echo and Wrecker will meet you there!”
“What about you?” Echo asked.
“I’ve got to find Crosshair and Lodestar.”
Hunter handed Wrecker the package and they went their separate ways. Hunter managed to get to one of the rooftops and rushed to where you and Crosshair were. He jumped onto the roof where you were and saw the dead alien, a blaster next to him. Then his eyes led to familiar white hair.
“Crosshair!” He rushed over to his side and saw you laying in his lap, unconscious, with a blaster wound on your side. He immediately noticed the race of Crosshair’s heart, and sensed his growing shock, so he placed his hand on his brother’s shoulder.
“We have to go. We have to get back to Kamino.”
Crosshair nodded before letting Hunter pick you up and rushed with him back to the Havoc Marauder. They arrived back to the ship.
“Tech! Echo! Get us out of here now!” Hunter called as he boarded the ship with you in his arms. Wrecker was frozen with shock when he saw you.
“Ad’ika.” He whispered.
The ship moved quickly out of orbit and it was only a few minutes before everyone gathered together. Tech and Echo were rendered silent when they saw you on the floor with Hunter by your side as he exposed your wound.
“I need a bacta patch, now!”
Crosshair was the one to move to get it and give it to him. He took his place on your other side and helped Hunter.
“So...so pale…” Tech whispered, almost speechless as he looked at your condition.
Hunter was getting extremely overstimulated with everyone’s heartbeats and breathing, but he tried to focus on you. Tech was right: you were extremely pale, but as Hunter sifted through the different pulses reaching his ears, he found your weak one. He cupped your face.
“Mesh’la…” He called, “C’mon, mesh’la.”
“Can we lightspeed jump to Kamino?” Echo asked Tech.
“I...I don’t know…”
“Figure it out, Tech! Hurry!” Wrecker pleaded, his eyes averting from you to him.
Crosshair was extremely quiet with his eyes only on you. A million thoughts ran through his head. It felt like minutes before he spoke.
“Do the jump.”
“What?” Tech asked.
“Do the jump, now.” Crosshair repeated.
“We don’t know if it’ll make the wound worse.” Echo explained.
“If it does, we’ll be at Kamino!”
“Cross, it’s too dangerous-” Echo started. “We have to, or else the Kaminoans will have no patient, and we’ll have a dead officer!” Crosshair snapped, gripping your hand in his.
The rest of the squad looked to Hunter, who nodded.
“Do the jump.”

• title of the fic is from the hindi song "ishq wala love" from the film student of the year. i've linked the song (in blue) with some pretty good english translations in case you would like to take a listen, but it isn't necessary for the fic–i just thought it fit well!
• i kind of got way too invested in building up the environment at the beginning, so apologies if it seems like a slow start! i just had to indulge in having the other characters there too <3
• please ignore the inaccuracies of the havoc marauder. i don't really know what the ship looks like, especially the living quarters, so i unintentionally ended up using the ghost from swr to guide my writing for that part.
• what the reader says at the end about the word in love in her native language is true. the language i'm referring to here is hindi, and we have several different words for love. in my very humble opinion, i think it’s one of the many characteristics of the language that makes hindi so sweet-sounding and poetic :)
• THANK YOU FOR 100 NOTES OMG AHHH YOU ALL ARE TRULY AMAZING 😭<333 (7/1/2021)

After Tech piloted the Bad Batch away from Pantora and safely entered hyperspace, you all decided to turn in to get some rest–or at least attempt to. With the bounty hunter scare, you and the boys figured it would be best to discuss what to do tomorrow morning, for Omega’s sake.
You tucked Omega in with her doll and offered her a comforting smile. “Don’t worry ‘Meg,” you said softly, running a gentle hand through her cropped blonde hair. “You’ll be safe, I promise. You’re stuck with us for life.”
Omega smiled sleepily at your teasing and held her arms out for a hug, one which you gladly indulge. “Sweet dreams, love,” you murmur as you let go. You shut off the lamp in her makeshift room and closed the curtains as you climbed down the ladder.
You turned around to find Hunter looking at you from his seat in front of the blinking controls. You raised an eyebrow as you plopped down in front of him unceremoniously, the exhaustion of the action-packed day catching up to you.
"You're good with her," he murmured as you both glanced at the light beige divider and you shrugged in response.
"Just looking out for her. Besides, you're not so bad yourself. She mimics your every move," you grinned. Hunter chuckled fondly as he recalled the memory where they were all stuck in the Kaminoan prison cell and Omega copied his every gesture.
The two of you lapsed in a comfortable silence as you mulled over the day's events, the hum of the ship thrumming beneath your feet.
"We'll be okay. It's tiring and difficult and none of us know how to raise a child, but we'll be okay," you said, breaking the quiet with optimism. You placed a hand on Hunter's shoulder and smiled. "Crosshair will be okay too. Have faith."
Hunter sighed but nodded in agreement as he put his hand over yours. "Goodnight," he said as he stood up, stretching his muscles.
"Sleep well."
You sat at the small table for a few more minutes to think before standing up yourself. You quickly checked in on Tech in the cockpit since he was on watch, and he immediately shooed you away, insisting you get some sleep. You had a feeling he only did so to optimize the ship in peace without distractions.
Nevertheless, you obliged and left him alone. Walking to the back of the ship, you completed your rounds. Wrecker was snoring loudly and you stifled a laugh. At least he was sleeping well–it was all you could ask for really. But frankly, you had no idea how Crosshair was ever able to sleep through it. Thinking about him and seeing his empty bunk made your heart pang in loss, but you were as determined as the rest of them to somehow bring him back. You had to.
You opened the door to Hunter and Tech’s shared room to find Hunter already sleeping soundly and you quickly left. With his enhanced senses, he was already a light sleeper, and compounded with his responsibilities as a leader, he rarely got any rest. You worried for him.
Last stop was your and Echo's room. You stepped in to find the light still on. Echo was sitting on the floor in front of your bunk, staring at the ground.
"Hey there handsome," you joked lightly in an attempt to get his attention and mask your unease. Echo usually only came near your bunk when something was wrong and after everything that happened today, it was safe to say you were concerned.
Echo didn't respond. Did he hear me? You make your way over to your lover and sit down in front of him. You place your hands on top of his.
"Echo, honey?" You said softly and finally finally he looked up at you. Your heart dropped into your stomach.
"Oh, darling," you breathed and you moved to his side to envelop him into a hug, his head resting comfortably in the crook of your neck. You didn’t say anything more–you saw the deep pain swirling in his eyes, the grief, the loss. The anger. You let Echo take the lead; you knew how difficult it was to wrangle raging thoughts and muster them into words.
You didn’t know how much time passed of you two sitting on the floor, breathing each other in before Echo spoke.
“Today… when we went on the supply run, I was dressed as a droid.”
You bit your lip, knowing exactly where this was going. But you didn’t interrupt, letting him continue. Your thumb rubbed absentmindedly on his arm as you listened.
“That vendor we were talking to wouldn't take what we had. And then he saw me,” Echo took a deep breath. You stayed quiet, holding his hand in a manner that you hoped soothed his anxieties at least a little bit.
“Hunter sold me as a droid to him. I-I know he doesn’t see me as a droid. I know that. But–” Echo’s voice cracked. He cleared his throat of the emotion building up. Echo didn’t know how to express what he wanted to say. He didn’t even want to speak it aloud–that would make it feel too real. And Echo severely doubted he could handle the heartbreak. Can I do this?
“Cyar’ika,” he murmured and you hummed in response. Echo pulled away from you, his hand still in yours. Now or never. “I need you to be completely, absolutely, 100% honest with me,” he whispered. Echo steeled his expression, doing his best to hide how terrified he truly was.
You nodded because of course you would be. When were you not?
But the way Echo gazed at you threw you off. Something was wrong, very wrong. You were almost scared of what he would say next, but you made a gesture for him to say what was on his mind. Clearly, this was important.
“Do you really want to be with me when I’m just–” Echo struggled with the last few words and you strained to pick them up with how they caught in his throat. “–a pathetic, disgusting, hybrid machine?” It’s out, I said it. I said it. Echo felt like he couldn’t breathe, the pressure on his chest too much, too much. He stared down at the floor, face flooded with shame.
You stared at him in blatant disbelief, eyebrows furrowed and mouth open from a shocked laugh. No no no Echo. You’re nothing of the sort. You didn’t move. Echo’s breath hitched as he looked back up at you, broken and open and raw.
“Don’t lie, please don’t lie to me. I know there's no way you could ever love me when I… when I look like this,” Echo whispered, but he may as well have shouted with the way the blood was rushing through your ears.
And then something in you snapped.
You removed your hands from his and placed them on his cheeks, pulling him in until your foreheads were touching. “Echo, you need to listen to me,” you instructed and heaved a breath as you tried to sort your own rushing thoughts into articulated words. But the effort was futile as your careful speech turned into a haphazard and passionate stream of consciousness.
His eyes glistened with unshed tears and your heart broke into pieces. Echo gave you all of his attention. What are you going to say? He didn’t want you to agree, but he would understand if you did. Echo felt disgusted with himself. The walls were closing in on him. Breathing was getting harder.
“You are the best damn thing that has ever happened to me. I don’t give one flying banthashit about any of your mechanical parts. If anyone ever says anything about them, they’re di’kuts and you can send them my way because I will not hesitate to punch some sense into them,” you spat with pure determination, not even noticing the Mando’a slip. After being surrounded by clones for so long, you absorbed bits and pieces of the language. You didn’t even register how Echo picked up on the word, much too focused on getting your point across. You were a person on a mission and nothing would stand in your way.
The knot in Echo’s stomach was loosening a bit, the storm in his mind beginning to break. The walls were a bit farther from him. He wasn’t drowning in his own presence anymore.
“Because you know what? You’re still my Echo. You’re a man, my dear. Not a machine. You never were, and never will be. These parts?” you gestured to his scomp link, his legs, the cybernetic implant in his head. “They mean nothing. Absolutely nothing. Don’t focus on them.”
You smiled sadly as you rubbed your thumbs gently on his cheeks. “I fell in love with you, Echo, not your body. I love the way you make me laugh, the way you comfort me, the way you cry with me. As much as I kriffing hate that you have been through so much pain because of those damned Separatists, I’m grateful for the fact that I’m in love with a man who would do anything for his family, for his brothers.”
A tear slipped down your cheek as you remembered Fives coming back home from the Citadel but no Echo in sight. You would never admit it to anyone, but you swore a piece of you had died that day.
Echo felt like he was going to cry. The pressure that had been building up in his chest was releasing. He could breathe again, slowly, slowly. His only focus was you, was your words. The artificial lights didn’t seem to be as glaring now. They were softer, calmer.
“Echo, my love, even through it all, you not only survived, but you came out on top, victorious,” you paused, briefly overcome with how much love and gratitude you had for this wonderful man. “You came back to me, Echo, and you’re as handsome as ever. I have never stopped loving you, and never will. Don’t you ever forget that darling.”
Echo drew in a shaky breath. The harsh cold of the floor grates was biting into his skin, but he didn’t care. It grounded him as much as your warm touch on his face. He could breathe again. My cyar’ika.
Your fiery and passionate emotional speech came to an end as you stared into your lover’s eyes. There was so much more you could say, but you feared words would not be able to convey it all. You hoped your eyes would be enough to soothe his pained and tired soul.
Silent tears trailed down Echo’s face and you gently brushed them away as you pulled him into a tight hug. It was all you could do to not cry yourself. Echo was always so strong–you admired him for it.
“Thank you,” he whispered, voice thick with appreciation and love. You didn’t say anything. There was no need to. The charged air between you both was enough. The two of you sat in a comfortable silence on the floor of the Havoc Marauder, deep in your own thoughts.
“Ishq wala love,” you muttered fondly after some time, still caught up in your own mind.
“Hm?” Echo questioned, curious as to what you said. The soft sound gently pulled you out of the clouds and back to the man in your arms as you attempted to explain.
“There’s a phrase in my native language, ishq wala love. You see, in Basic, there’s just one word for love, which is love. But back home, we have several different words for love, each with their own subtle, but distinct meaning,” you blew out a breath as you tried to figure out what to say. Echo was hanging on to your every word.
“There’s… there isn’t really a direct translation, but the best I can come up with is that the love that we have, ishq, is much deeper than just romantic love. It’s deep and strong and pure and unyielding. It–it reminded me of us,” you admitted, a bit sheepish. Your fingers dance along Echo’s scomp link, nervous.
Echo took a moment to process your explanation before smiling. You felt your heart stitch itself back together again after seeing that beautiful smile. You would do anything to keep it on his lovely face.
“Ishq wala love,” he echoed, his pronunciation a bit off. You giggled in response. “Close enough,” you teased and Echo simply beamed. You leaned in and planted a chaste kiss on his soft lips, rubbing his metal arm gently.
Echo stood up then, offering a hand to you to help you up. You took it and he led you over to the bunk you shared together. You both quickly climbed in, relaxing in the warmth of the well worn blankets and the other’s presence.
Your head was near his chest and you could hear the soothing dull sound of his steady heartbeat. Your arm curled over his waist protectively and your head rested comfortably on his flesh arm. Echo shut off the light and you were ensconced in black velvety darkness.
“Goodnight, cyar’ika.”
“Sweet dreams, Echo. I’ll be here, waiting for you.”
please consider reblogging! it really helps me and is super encouraging ^_^

You stood in the doorway. Looking at the sniper who had his back to you. Sitting in a chair leant forward as he stared down at his feet.
"What do you want?"
His voice was harsh and bitter. You weren't sure what happened between you two, or what you did. But as of late he had been.. Distant.
The two of you used to be so close. It wasn't a talkative close, but more of an affectionate one. A close that had the both of you comforted and feeling love from both sides.
"I want to know if you're okay?" You spoke. Still standing in the doorway. Too afraid to step further inside. No, you weren't afraid he'd hurt you. You were just afraid he would shut you out.
"I'm fine," he spat.
You flinched just a bit at his words. Frowning  as you shuffled your feet. "Cross.. I know that's not true, but-"
"But what?" He snapped. Standing from his chair to turn and face you.
He got closer to you. Backing you up into the wall as he stared down into your eyes. Your brows furrowed in concern.
"But what, huh? But you're here for me? But you care? What is it?" He sneered.
Your eyes were full of hurt and concern. Searching his for the issue.
"But I do. I am here for you and I do care." You spoke. Keeping your voice soft.
"Why have you been so distant lately? Just answer that and I'll leave."
Your words made him ponder for a bit. He seemed to be genuinely at a loss for words. As if he didn't even know.
"Cross, I love you, you know that right?" He furrowed once more at those words. You bit your tongue, you stepped a bit too far over his line.
"Love?" He chuckled. Looking back to your face. "You don't love me, just like I don't care about you, no one does."
His voice was low. It wasn't true, you both knew it, but it was still enough for the tears to flow down your face in wavy patterns. Your breathing going jagged.
"You don't mean that," he knew you were insecure when it came to how others felt about you. You always felt you weren't enough. Your chest ached with worry if someone even stared your way too long.
His expression faltered a bit. A look of apology making an appearance for a second, before fading back to his glare.
"See, you're weak and flawed. Who would want to love that?" He barked.
You looked down, letting out a small chuckle that seemed to catch him off guard.
"Says the one who chases away everyone. All because they're trying to help." Your voice cracked a bit. Before you pushed past him to head out of the ship.
He didn't even chase after you. He only stood back and watched you leave.
"Where's y/n?" Tech was the first to notice your absence. Especially when Crosshair left his room without you.
It wasn’t like you were both attached at the waist, but you did happen to hang around each other a lot. Your presence was all he needed to feel at home. But apparently that wasn't enough anymore.
Crosshair looked up to his brother when he stood in front of him. Arms crossed. "Crosshair, Where's y/n?" Tech asked. Hunter, Echo, and Wrecker looking to the slimmer male with concerned expressions.
"She left," was all he said before he pushed past the slightly broader male.
"What do you mean, 'she left,'?" Hunter asked. Now following his brother. You were one of them. With or without crosshair, they treated you like their own. You were a friend and you'd saved all of them at least once or twice out on the field or just from wounds that could have killed them.
"Is she okay?" Echo asked, and Crosshair groaned. Turning to face them all.
"We got in an argument okay? I told her I didn't care about her. Is that what you wanted to hear?" He snapped.
Everyone stared at him in shock.
"You did what?" Hunter asked. Wrecker following echo. "We'll find her, Sarg." And with that those two were off to look for you.
"Tech, go check the transmissions. Make sure she hasn't tried to contact us." Hunter ordered, and his younger vod nodded as he headed off into the other room. Leaving Hunter and Crosshair alone.
"Why would you do that?" He snapped. Noticing Crosshairs' look of guilt. "She's nothing but sweet, 'nd kind, 'nd all around loving towards you. Hell, she does love you and you know it."
Crosshair let out a long sigh. Rubbing his forearm. "I know," "then why say you don't care about her?"
There was a long pause. Until he turned to head towards the exit for the Marauder. "Because I may as well hurt her now before it's too far along."
Hunter grunted, grabbing him by the shoulder to stop him. "No, you better find her and at least apologize. She thinks the world of you and I know you think the same of her. I can sense it for kriffs sake. I know it's scary, but we're clones. We don't get many admirers, you need to cherish this for now." He speeched. Crosshair tugging himself from Hunter's grip. "Fine."
You were in the old tree hut the six of you found on the planet you were sent to scout. Just as Echo assumed you would be. He knew you better than the rest. You knew each other from the 501st, after all.
"Y/n.." he called, and you inhaled. Watching as Wreckers head peaked through the entryway. "You were right, She's here!" He shouted as you moved to stand.
'Hey, hey, are you alright?" The pale trooper asked, and you merely nodded. Rubbing your eyes. "We heard what he said to you." Wrecker piped.
You frowned, looking down.
"It ain't true, you know."
You shrugged, scuffing your feet. "It sure felt like it was." You spoke quietly. Looking up to Echo and Wrecker.
"If I know my brother, and I do." Wrecker started. Approaching you slowly. "He does care about you. He's just scared."
You chuckled. Wiping a few more tears away that fell. "Scared? So saying no one cares about me is how he shows fear? Good to know."
"Y/n, it's not just fear. He does care, he just doesn't want you too attached in case something happens. I've watched him long enough to know this." Echo spoke. Reaching out to pull you in for a hug. Which you gladly accepted. Chuckling as Wrecker pulled the two of you closer for a group hug, as he proclaimed.
"He talks about you when we go to 79s and you stay back on the ship, or at the barracks. He says how," "no other girl can down a shot like you can." Crosshair interrupted from behind. Causing you all to look towards the entrance.
"How sweet," you spoke, though your voice was laced with sarcasm. They all picked up on it.
"I talk about how it's no fun without you. Too. You make everything fun." He admitted, and you shuffled your feet some more as Echo and Wrecker stepped aside. Watching as Crosshair neared.
"And I don't talk about feelings much, you know this best." You nodded at his words. Watching as he side eyed his brothers and they left the hut.
"Y/n," you refused to meet his eyes. Until his hand reached out to cup your face. To which you glared at him and flinched away.
"Why are you here? Thought you didn’t care about me. No one does." He sighed. Licking his lips as he watched you.
"You're stubborn, you know that?" "Go fuck yourself," you spat. Crossing your arms before turning away from him.
He sighed. Rubbing the side of his head. "It ain't the same without you, though," you rolled your eyes at that. "What do you want? If Hunter sent you here don't bother. I know your words are probably forced."
He sighed again. Pulling you back into his chest. Which you squirmed to get out of. But his grip only tightened.
"Please just listen," he requested.
You decided to still in his grasp. Which told him you were cooperating, a little.
"What I said earlier, I didn't mean it."
"It still hurt," you snapped.
"I know it did, but I'm just scared to get too attached. I'm a clone. I was built for war, not life."
You felt a wave of guilt rush over you.
"Forgive me?" He questioned. "I need you," he finished.
You pondered, then leant back against his chest. "I will, but you can’t do that anymore. You scared me and.. You hurt me. You know I already feel like no one cares about me, and that the world's out to get me. Stars, that's where we're similar." You told him, and he only nodded. Hiding his face in the crook of your neck. "Won't happen again." He spoke. Kissing the skin that bridged from your neck to your shoulder.
You exhaled. Craning your head to the side. "If it does, I won't be this willing to come back." He hummed at that. It was an agreeing, 'I know,' sort of hum. As he rested himself against your back.
"Can we head back?" He asked, and you nodded. "Sure, but I'm still mad." He shrugged. "I know, I'll make up for it." "You better, I thought I lost you over something I did."
Crosshair shook his head in disagreement. Turning you so he could pull you in for a proper hug. Resting his chin on top if your head. Standing like this for a moment before pulling you back to tug you back to the marauder. To which he drug you to his room to hold you in his bed. Not letting you go until Hunter insisted the both of you eat.

Breaking down Hunter and Omega’s relationship. Pt 2.
We’re back at it, here with the second post in this father-daughter-space-duo series! You guys responded to the first post better then I expected in all honesty! I didn’t think my insights were viewed as so important lmao. I don’t really think much introduction is needed here, the post itself is very self explanatory.
(Pasted paragraph: I would just like to add a disclaimer here. I am, in no way whatsoever, slating the other batchers for having differing relationships with Omega. I absolutely adore everything single one of the boys, and I think they all have wonderful and unique interrelations with her. Although I may point out these different approaches in comparison to Hunter’s, I am not stating these engages are wrong, just different is all!
I’m going to separate this into a little series- covering each episode in a separate post, which I’ll have tagged as the series progresses. Once I’ve tackled these two, as they’re my favourites, I’m going to move on to each individual Batcher and perhaps a few other dynamics such and Hunter and Crosshair, or Wrecker and Omega! Let me know what you guys would like to see!)
(Thank you to this weeks proof-reader: @treasureofmy-heart 💛)
Cut and Run: S1/E2
We kick off this episode with Hunter walking in on Echo inspecting Omega and Wrecker fast asleep on the floor. His face is very relaxed and he clearly finds it very sweet that her childlike curiosity has tired her out. His line, “ha, well this is a first,” while holding a strong gaze in Omega’s direction, suggests that she’s been exploring for quite some time, unleashing her endearing juvenile inquisition in the batchers presence. Hunter continues to claim she’s curious, using the same lighthearted tone he has always used in her regard, sparing the conversation in the medical wing on Kamino. This continues to confirm his gentle approach and concern towards the young clone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Echo confronts him over the situation at hand, it’s evident that Hunter hasn’t actually thought about what he’s going to do with Omega, yet by the look of quizzicality on his face. I personally took this as a sign that his initial thoughts were always “we’re going to lay low with her, look after her, while keeping everybody else safe.” It’s clear here that Echo has differing ideas that Hunter hadn’t even began to consider, and I think that’s what perplexes him in this moment. He needs to consider everybody.
The kid is up and awake! (Let the havoc commence aha.) Omega’s reaction to sunlight and dirt is definitely one of my favourite developmental moments of hers, it really sets in place that this little girl may have been an intelligent medical assistant, but she lacks experience, and still needs a guiding hand to help her through this new world she’s never endured before. I’d like to point out that it is, in fact, Hunter who stops to watch Omega’s reactions, and his FACE when she’s playing in the dirt! I’ve never seen such a parental smile on a man so stoic! I feel like I’m repeating myself a lot, but he is so endeared by her! She’s a breath of fresh air in Hunter’s very toxically routined life, and I love that for both of them. When they finally reach Cut’s land, Hunter is the one to pull her back, despite the fact she had to run between Echo and Tech to get to him. And upon Suu and Cut’s arrival, I actually didn’t realise that Omega creeps behind Hunter, most likely because these are strangers she doesn’t know and she feels she needs the protection. This confirms a clear bond between them has already began to flesh out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There isn’t too much to say about the introduction and inhibitor chip discussion, as Omega spends a decent amount of that time exploring Cut and Suu’s house, but I will just say that it’s a nice touch that she ends up back at Hunter’s side when her part of the conversation is needed, she always seems physically drawn to him. Which brings me to my next point. Upon Shaeeah and Jek’s arrival, Omega once again creeps behind Hunter out of fear, only deciding to approach when formally addressed to do so. *Sigh*, and when Shaeeah pulls Omega out to play, and she halts to ask for Hunter’s permission, which is clearly given through a series of comforting smiles, is a plain indication of a trusted child-parental relationship. I must admit, Hunter’s face is pretty hilarious when everybody practically calls him out on his parental role- it’s just “why are you all staring at me..?” Because you’re acting like a dad, my dude.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay! Down to Cut and Hunter’s discussion. It’s a nice touch that Hunter is the first one outside to watch Omega play, swiftly followed by Cut, who, rightfully so, questions her existence. Although instead of explaining Omega’s origin (and by that I just mean that she’s a medical assistant clone from Kamino), he states that it doesn’t matter what the Kaminoans created her for, because she’s with them now, and to be with them she doesn’t need a purpose, she’s just a kid and should be allowed to act like one. Cut goes ahead to tease him over the ins and outs of raising a child, but to Hunter it was a no-brainer, Kamino wasn’t safe, so she was coming with them, as I’ve said previously, he saw NO negotiations. And as Cut says, “I (you) have to do what’s best for them.” This adds sentiment to the narrative of Hunter’s commanding role within the squad and Omega specifically.
So I’m shifting ahead slightly to the ball incident, and I have a LOT to say about this scene. First of all, it’s clearly evident that Hunter is the first to leave the house, along with Cut and Suu following closely behind. Associating this trio together is purposeful on the animators part in my opinion, they intentionally exclusively had Hunter leave with the other parents in the situation, isolating him specifically with that role in Omega’s life. When he finally reaches her, we see the protective hand come straight out to guard her against the Nexu, a typical trait they’ve established between them.
Now we move on to the confrontation. This is the first time Hunter raises his voice at Omega, and immediately she turns herself away from him, curling into her shoulder and making herself small. Omega is going through a lot of emotions right here, she’s afraid, anxious, and she’s being forced to deal with the fact that for the first time, Hunter is mad at her, for something she didn’t even intend to do wrong. Whereas from Hunter’s perspective, he hasn’t acknowledged she’s already in a bit of a state, and instead feels the need to immediately lecture her for her mistakes….although this lasts all but thirty seconds. Upon Cut’s attempts to diffuse the situation by having him pull Hunter away and reiterating that “she’s (Omegas) not a soldier”, his face immediately softens, he forgot for a moment, but now he realises and instantly the features are set in a regretful frown, he clearly feels awful and misrepresented. Hunter continues to observe Cut’s behaviour as he comforts Omega, who seems to take to the attention like a kicked puppy, lip trembling, eyes shaky, shoulders hunched, and I honestly think as Cut carries her away- is the exact moment Hunter realises he isn’t good enough for Omega. (I’ll further out on this in a moment)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I only want to briefly touch upon Omega’s gunners nest scene because I don’t think it has too much impact on her relationship with Hunter, however I would like to address the symbolism. I personally see the removal of her headpiece and the addition of her bangs as a new beginning, attaining the contrasting yellow light of Salucemi in comparison to Kamino, where she would’ve been given her jewel. Considering the episode’s outcome, Omega is no longer the tightly held, quivering little girl from Kamino, and instead she brings a slight unruliness to her aura, a little cheeky, definitely her brother’s sister. Still a sweetheart of course, but with a matter of confidence and boisterous behaviour to her. She seems to bounce out of her sadness quite easily here, as she seems suddenly awkward- yet curious- over Tech’s plan later on.
Furthering out into my previous point about Hunter believing Omega deserved much better in comparison to what he could provide: his conversation with Suu. “Protecting them is what we do.” The realisation on his face when she says this, it’s so…raw, something he’s taking time to comprehend. He heeds her words because he knows she and Cut are experienced in this field, they are better suited for Omega than he and the boys are, he believes he isn’t good enough for her, and this is projected when he insists ‘Mega leave with the family of four. Although Suu questions his sincerity, and he does indeed dodge the straightforward answer, this is what Hunter anticipates is best for Omega. He’s putting her needs above his happiness, no matter the heartache.
Moving along slightly, as Omega and Hunter spend a short period of time away from each other during the ship impoundment, I briefly wanted to touch upon the tone of Hunter’s voice when he learns Omega is on route to their position…by herself in a heavily armed spaceport. His eyes widen in a moment of fear, his voice is suddenly strained, he is struck with another raw emotion, something he frankly can’t obtain right now, and it’s let out in a minor threat towards his brothers- “if something happens to her-“ a clearly indication of worry.
This next point absolutely breaks my heart, the poor dears, both of them. Upon Omega’s arrival, Hunter is left to explain his forced proposal that she should leave Salucemi with Cut and Suu. As usual he completes his little ritual of taking her shoulders and crouching to her level, although this time he can’t quite look her in the eyes, a clear sign of regret and guilt, because he doesn’t want to give her away, he knows deep down she belongs with them, but he doesn’t believe he has what it takes to raise and protect her. The way Omega’s eyes crumple really catches me here, she’s being left, again… All this kid has ever known her entire life has either been abandonment, abuse or isolation, and she’s being passed on to strangers by the only people she’s ever been able to trust, and not only is it clearly breaking her heart, but she’s taking it personally, she thinks she’s at fault, much like Hunter does. Her line: “but, I want to stay with you.” compressed with the quivering tone and her precious accent really aides her desperation here, it conveys her in an adequate and very precise way.
Tumblr media
Starting a brief new point to split these up slightly: I bring us to the continuous glances shared between them. Omega consistently looks over her shoulder to Hunter, she doesn’t want her eyes to leave him for one moment, she’s savouring his face, his details, for the very last time. And equally, Hunter is letting go of something he doesn’t want to leave behind, he likes the kid, to the point where his own self depreciation and doubt have been forced ahead in order to protect her, he can’t risk anything at this point. I’d also like to quickly mention how beautifully Omega’s eyes are animated, they intel so much, those precious little doe irises hold such story to them.
Moving on to a little jump cut enduring the batch’s escape and Omega’s return: Hunter’s tone of voice when addressing Wrecker is so pained, and his facials match it perfectly “she’s not com-“ it’s almost as though he’s biting back the urge to sprint headfirst into the gunfire if only to catch up to the little clone before it’s too late.
However, seeing as she’s managed to find her own way back that wouldn’t be exactly necessary. I think it’s a nice point that Hunter is the one to rush to Omega’s aide after she is grabbed by the trooper (flowing a brief flash of concern crossing his face), although Wrecker might’ve been closer, it’s a nice hint to their subtle closer bond. He, once again, crouches to her level although an unnecessary step in the situation, and I see this as another nod to their familiarised dependancy.
Finally, my last point for this episode, is their final conversation within the last few minutes. It’s faint, but the fact that the other batchers are all busying themselves in the cockpit, leaving Omega and Hunter to chat privately, is a very distinct use of separation. It also should be noted that Omega is the one to approach Hunter, this shows a decent level of not only maturity on her part, but trust between them as family, she trusts both him and herself enough to advance on a delicate situation, we even see her hesitate slightly, before pushing forward with a slip of confidence, and that takes a lot of gut from a little kid. She stands her ground, but with compliment. She very much reminds me of Hunter himself in the brig, assertive yet respectful. And speaking of Hunter, his face is just absolutely guilt-ridden when talking to her, because he too made the mistake of attempting to give her away, no matter how much good he thought it would do them both. While Omega is admitting she has a lot to learn in regards to safety and tactility, Hunter is suggesting he has a lot to learn about raising a child and providing the necessary care for her. It’s a brave moment for both of them, to be honest and open, and yet its received extremely well on both ends.
“If this is where you want to be…then this is where you’ll stay.” The admiration in his voice, the admiration in her eyes! They absolutely adore one another, and it melts my heart every time it’s displayed!
Tumblr media
I hope you liked my analysis of Hunter and Omega’s relationship in episode two of The Bad Batch! Of course, I’d love to discuss these two with anybody who might be interested, so please feel free to drop me an ask or a DM, and if you’re captivated enough I’d totally recommend looking out for my future posts on the topic!
As always, much love to our ‘Megs and Hunter, thank you for reading! 💛

Misfits - Chapter 3
Fandom: Star Wars - Clone Wars / The Bad Batch Pairing: The Bad Batch / Reader (Polyamorous) Rating: M (Rating May Change) Tags: Polyamorous Relationship, Force-Sensitive Reader, Slow Burn
Work Summary: After a year working with the 501st, you've been assigned a new post - Clone Force 99, aka the Bad Batch. You're concerned about the transition - you found it hard enough to fit in with the 501st, and now you had to acclimate to an entirely new squad. As it turns out, the Bad Batch is very accommodating.
Chapter Summary: Hunter insists that you nap on the way to Kamino.
read it on ao3 | start from ch 1 | or read more below
“Get some sleep. It’ll be a while until we reach Kamino.”
Hunter gestured towards a bunk that you could tell was well used. You worried the inside of your lip, considering the offer.
This ship was a far cry from the accommodations you were used to. It reminded you more of quarters you once shared with a pirate crew – cramped, but cozy.
You didn’t mind it, per say… but it wasn’t what you were used to. On the Resolute, you had your own quarters, completely separate from the rest of the clones. It had been both a blessing and a curse – it afforded you some privacy, being the only female Captain, and working with a majority of clones who had never experienced such direct contact with a woman. It was honestly tiring dealing with their staring – which wasn’t even a majority sexual, honestly. They were just curious about you, and while you didn’t blame them, that didn’t mean you wanted eyes on you while you were just trying to get some rest.
The Bad Batch didn’t seem to be quite as bad as the 501st, and you suspected that perhaps because they were a smaller, elite squad, they had encountered women in different environments than just a club full of clone chasers like 79’s. You could feel Wrecker’s eyes on you half the time, and his curiosity reminded you the most of the 501st’s own sneaking glancing. You also caught Tech looking a few times as you set your meagre belongings in the cargo area – he had seemed flustered and turned away, datapad in hand. You had no idea what his fascination with you was, but you assumed you would find out soon enough. It was almost cute seeing how you flustered him, if only because your own men – or, former men – had grown so used to your presence that they had gotten harder to fluster.
But then, there was Hunter and Echo, who both reminded you of Rex. Rex hadn’t been bothered with your gender if only because he had worked so much with Ahsoka the years prior. You didn’t know who Hunter had worked with that made him so comfortable with you, nor Echo, but you were glad that at least your gender wasn’t causing any more awkward tension than it should. You felt strange enough barging into Hunter’s team, where you technically outranked him as a Captain, but knew about as much as a shiny when it came to this squad.
At least everyone was better than Crosshair, who avoided you like a bad smell. He obviously had some kind of a stick up his ass.
But that was besides the point – the real question was: did you trust these men enough to sleep out in the open like this? You didn’t think they would hurt you, or anything quite so dangerous, but you did value your privacy. And it seemed strange to sleep in their communal space while you still felt like an outsider. That was far too… intimate for your liking.
“I’m fine,” you tried to respond to Hunter’s offer with a polite smile and a nod. You didn’t want your refusal to read as rude – you just didn’t want to open yourself up to something so intimate as sleeping in another clone’s bed, even if it was simply a matter of convenience. You didn’t doubt that the clones crashed in whichever bunk was available – the blankets on the bottom two looked more worn than the top, which alluded to the fact that they shared these.
You denied the offer, even though you were tired. You hadn’t slept since the Resolute had returned to Coruscant, and the fatigue was wearing on you. But you were a force sensitive. You could draw energy that way, you hoped. And maybe with an extra cup of caf from the small galley on the ship.
Hunter frowned at you. It wasn’t that he was outright offended by your refusal – he looked exasperated instead.
“I know you’re tired. Rest. We don’t have private rooms like on the star cruisers you’re used to, but it’s safe.”
Your eyes widened, and you shook your head. “No, I- I didn’t mean-“
“I know. I know we don’t have much,” Hunter shrugged, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms. “But it’s what we’ve got. Took Echo some time to get used to. I don’t blame you.”
You sighed, remembering Echo. Hunter’s looking at you and seeing Echo – another 501st member adjusting to a new place. And, he’s right, to an extent. Maybe you’re overthinking things. The Bad Batch has been nothing but kind to you so far.
“I’m sorry,” you shook your head. “You’re right. It’s different from the 501st. Over there, I had a private Captain’s room. And here-“
“You’re right in it,” Hunter finished. You nodded, sighing. Hunter nodded at you, understanding, before he continued.
“Ain’t no use in separation here. Each member here was selected for a purpose, and each is an expert in that field. I’m a superior in name only – I’m more like a coordinator, if I’m completely honest,” Hunter admitted, and you breathed a sigh of relief.
“So, you guys operate more like pirates or something than an actual military unit?” you asked, with a raised eyebrow and a little quirk of a smile. Hunter shrugged, making a little noncommittal noise.
“I’ve never worked with pirates, but maybe.”
You laughed, relaxing. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad, taking a nap in the open. After all, you were going to be working with these men for the foreseeable future. You had to learn to trust them, and if there were any issues with boundaries, you would work it out. It would be fine, especially if the crew operated the way Hunter said they did – you understood that structure far more than you did military hierarchies of command.
“Thank you, Hunter,” you patted his shoulder gently, well aware of the armor that covered it. “If you don’t mind, I think I will take that nap. Maybe up there, though.”
You gestured to one of the top bunks, and Hunter even cracked a smile himself.
“High ground. Good choice.”
You shared a smile, shaking your head at him as he clapped you on the back and made his exit towards the cockpit.
His touch left you warm, even thought it was friendly, the sort of thing the clones took part in all the time. You kind of hated the way your cheeks flushed as you hopped on the bunk, untying your boots and kicking them to the floor, discarding your jacket and what little armor you had (shoulder plates and forearm guards, really) at the end of the bunk.
Not only was the Bad Batch different from the other clones in terms of their operation style – casual, bound by trust rather than duty – they were also different from other clones in certain physical aspects. Hunter’s hair, in particular, caught your eye far more often than it should in a professional sense, even as you tried to ignore it. And that little smile he just gave you –
No. No, you couldn’t do this. You had to work with Hunter, and if something happened between the two of you, you couldn’t count on the fact that you both would be able to remain professional.
You wrapped the blankets around you in a little cocoon as you tried to talk yourself down from all of this. It had been easier with the 501st. Those degrees of separation prevented you from forming those attachments. But here – this wasn’t a military structure. This was a team, a crew. You couldn’t get away from these men – for kark’s sake, they all shared these bunks.
The bunks, including the one you were occupying. They were homey – the blankets wrapped around you were plentiful. A couple were standard issue – you recognized the distinctive Republic insignia emblazoned on them. But some were clearly handmade. There were scraps of fabric entwined, one around another, weaving together to make a sturdy blanket. Another looked to be a quilt, hardy and thick, made to withstand the chill of space travel.
You were enveloped in them, completely cocooned, and you were already starting to warm up again despite the absence of your jacket. You tried to turn your brain off, for just a moment, and relax into the softness of the blankets, into the homey little bunk. The Bad Batch had obviously taken care to make their beds cozy and warm, and you appreciated it – it spoke to how they valued their space, their comfort. It was nice.
You started to drift off, and you couldn’t help but notice that even the blankets smelled nice. Not from a fresh wash, necessarily – no, it smelled more like it was pleasantly lived in. But didn’t it seem like the bottom bunks were the most used by the Batch?
Maybe this was Hunter’s bunk, you considered with a little smile, curling in on yourself. Hadn’t he mentioned the high ground? You imagined that a veteran officer like Hunter might care about things like that – about being able to get a jump on anyone trying to disturb his sleep. He would feel safer up here, like you did. The way this bunk was angled, there was a good view of the outside hatch, so Hunter would be able to see anyone trying to enter the ship.
Maybe it smelled like him, then. You could imagine him wrapped in these blankets too, maybe ones that thankful civilians gave him for his help.
You had told yourself you didn’t want to get attached, but as you drifted off into a light slumber, you couldn’t stop the visions that danced behind your eyes – Hunter in the bunk with you, his broad chest pressed to your back, his arms wrapped around your waist. If he snuggled too close to your shoulder, his hair would tickle your jaw. Maybe he would tell you the stories of the blankets wrapped around the both of you – his fingers tracing over yours as you thumbed over the handmade details, as his low voice hummed in your ear.
You drifted to sleep thinking of him, the thrum of his voice, rough hands against yours. And if those thoughts spilled over into your dreams – that was only for you to know.

Explanation: Kimber joins Tech on an afternoon flight.
Tumblr media
Late the following morning, the Bad Batch were returning to the area where they'd left the ship after going on a run through the island. However, instead of it just being a regular run, Kimber had insisted on making it a race for fun, which the Clones gladly obliged to.
"Ha! I win!" cried Wrecker as he reached the ship first, naturally being the fastest since he was also the tallest in the group.
Crosshair came up just behind Wrecker with Kimber directly at his heels.
"Beat you, sunshine," he said to her with a triumphant smirk.
"Hey, I would've beat you had you not parkoured off that tree in front of me," Kimber retaliated, giving him a playful shove in the arm.
"You kicked dirt up at my eyes," he stated.
She snickered. "Only because you deserved it."
Of course, being the Bad Batch, the Clones played dirty in the race and Kimber gladly joined in that. If anything, she excelled at it just as well if not a little better than the others.
"Kimber also tried jumping me from behind," put in Wrecker, but then he laughed. "Didn't work out for you, did it?"
Her eyes squinted as she grimaced at him.
"Seeing her fall flat on her face was rather amusing," said Crosshair with a hand on his hip, still grinning teasingly.
Bemused at his taunting, Kimber scoffed and said back, "Oh, you're gonna get it, Crosshair. Mark my words."
Still smirking, he just put a toothpick in his mouth without a word.
Right then, Hunter, Echo and Tech all arrived at once, jogging their way over to them.
"Took you three long enough," said Wrecker as they joined them.
"Not all of us are as fast as you, Wrecker," commented Echo.
With a slight push up on the bridge of his goggles, Tech added, "It has also been proven better to move at a slower pace in order to conserve energy."
"Whatever you say, Tech," said Wrecker.
Hunter didn't say anything and instead had his eyes on Kimber. She caught his gaze right away and offered him a subtle smile. Neither of them could stop thinking about the previous night when they decided they wanted to be together and how much happier they now felt. It was almost unbelievable that it had all actually happened; that they both truly felt the same for each other after believing otherwise for some time.
Kimber begrudgingly averted her eyes so as to not catch the attention of any of the others. Hunter wanted to keep their relationship secret from the others for a little longer, simply because he felt the secrecy made it a bit more fun, to which she agreed. He had fallen asleep next to her bed during the night and she had to quickly shoo him out before he was caught.
"Well, I shall be back," Tech suddenly said, walking back to the Marauder while everyone else dispersed elsewhere.
“Where is Tech off to?” Kimber asked Hunter curiously, who came up beside her.
“He’s going to go fly the Marauder around for a while,” he answered. “That way, we won’t run into problems with the engine since it hasn’t been run in a few days.”
She nodded in understanding. She watched Tech enter the ship by himself, immersed in his datapad, like usual. Admittedly, she felt bad that he was going off alone. Something inside her wanted to go with him and keep him company.
“I’m going to go with him,” Kimber told Hunter, lightly tapping his shoulder. Then she whispered to him, “Don’t get too lonely without me.”
He grinned pleasantly and whispered back, “I’ll be counting down the seconds until you return.”
She flashed him a smile before quickly turning away and walking to the ship. As she got to the top of the ramp, she turned back around and, after making sure no one else was around to see, blew the Sergeant a kiss. He pretended to catch her kiss in the air and then brought his closed fist to his lips, which made her blush as she ducked into the Marauder.
“Hey Tech,” she said as she walked into the cockpit where Tech was powering up the ship. “I heard you’re taking the ship on a run. Mind if I join you?”
Tech looked up at her after hearing her speak and was a little surprised to see her there, but he gave her a small grin and replied, “You are more than welcome to join me, Kimber. The company would be greatly appreciated.”
Now that she had his permission to tag along, Kimber slipped into the other pilot’s seat, watching out the front window as the ship was lifted off the ground and it took off into the sky. Once it leveled out, all she could see was the vast, blue ocean ahead of them. Even though she had gotten to see an ocean on Kamino, this was different since Bestine was less dark outside than Kamino was. She could see the light of the sun reflecting off the waves and it was a beautiful sight to behold.
“Do you enjoy watching the ocean, Kimber?” Tech asked, noticing the far-off look in her eyes.
Glancing back over at him, Kimber answered, “Well, I grew up on a desert planet, Tech, so there wasn’t exactly a lot of water to see.”
“That is a fair point,” he replied, realizing his slight blunder.
She snickered at him and continued to watch out the window for a few minutes. After a little bit, she then spoke, "You know, I never did thank you properly for helping me with putting together my armor, so I want to say thank you. It really turned out perfectly."
"I merely gave you suggestions that you followed. The true art of your design came from you," he pleasantly responded. As she smiled at him, he then added, "I do also wish to convey my personal apologies for the way the Prime Minister treated you. His behavior was unfair and unjust."
"Thanks, Tech. I don't know what I would have done had Lama Su tried to take me away...so I'm glad you boys were there."
"Of course. You are part of our squad, after all, and we were not going to let the Prime Minister get in the way of that."
Kimber was touched to hear Tech say this. He wasn't usually as open emotionally as maybe Echo or Hunter, so to hear him express such sentiments to her was really moving.
"That means a lot to me to hear you say that," she said to him.
He gave her a nod in response. "How are you adjusting to your new life with us?"
Kimber exhaled loudly in thought. "It's...challenging, I'll admit. The training is hard, but I know it's necessary and I'm willing to do it. Otherwise...I'm happy."
"Excellent. Your happiness is vital, so it's pleasing to hear that you're adjusting well," Tech said as he steered the ship.
She smiled. "I never imagined I would end up with a group of Clones like you guys."
Tech nodded and stated, "Likewise, we never thought we'd have a civilian woman in our squad. As Clones, we would primarily work with other Clones and, on occasion, the Jedi. Having you join us felt...like the right choice."
"You really are too sweet," Kimber commented.
He then held up his index finger and stated, "Technically, the word 'sweet' applies to a flavor of food that's of a sugary nature. The proper word usage in this instance would be 'kind' or 'friendly' or even perhaps 'generous'."
Kimber chuckled in amusement. While Tech's literal nature was probably a bit annoying to some, it was endearing to her. His brothers gave him a hard time about it most of the time, so she was more patient about it for that reason. That and sometimes, it was actually enjoyable hearing him talk about things he knew. He was passionate about knowledge and she saw nothing wrong with that.
"Very well. You are too generous, Tech," she said to humor him, giving him a pleasant smile. She looked back out the window, seeing a few islands below them. "What can you tell me about Bestine?" she then asked him.
Tech pushed up his goggles just a touch and proceeded to tell her, "Bestine is, of course, an aquacultural planet vastly covered in oceans and small islands and is part of the Corellian Trade Spine in the Inner Rim. There were issues with colonization in the early days of this planet's history, but eventually, an island paradise was brought about. It's also well known for its ship repair and construction industry. The Republic held a fleet on this planet in the early days of the war."
"Fascinating," Kimber commented, genuinely interested. She could tell he was enjoying sharing information with someone who would listen. She then decided she would indulge him a little more and asked him something that she already knew about just to further give him a chance to share what he knew: "Did you know that there is connected history between Bestine and Tatooine?"
"Indeed," he responded. "A transport called the Dowager Queen full of Bestinian colonists crash landed on Tatooine after a sandstorm. The survivors established the Bestine Settlement and the city of Eisley, which was later renamed Mos Eisley to coincide with the neighboring city of Mos Espa."
Kimber folded her arms and propped her feet up on the dashboard of the ship. "You're right. Mos Eisley was built around the wreckage of the Dowager Queen and the ship was transformed into a first-class hotel. It's a very popular location for all the trade shows that come to Tatooine."
"How interesting."
"You certainly know your stuff."
"Well, I don't spend so much time on my datapad for nothing."
"I suppose that's true."
A few more minutes of silence passed until Kimber noticed that Tech was beginning to steer the Marauder straight up into the sky.
"What are you doing?" she asked him.
"We're just leaving the planet's atmosphere for a little bit," he explained.
The ship broke through the clouds and they were met with a sea of black full of glittering stars. After flying a little further out, Tech then pressed a few controls and put the ship into hovering mode where the two of them now sat, staring into the endless void of space.
"This really is a wondrous sight," Kimber said, gazing dreamily at the stars. "How I would love to see this with Hunter...."
Tech glanced over at Kimber and took notice of the wonder in her eyes. Even though they'd taken her to a few different planets already, they'd never really taken the time to enjoy the sight of the stars in space and he figured this was her first time ever really doing so. He felt a pleased smile cross his face. She looked happy. Even though he didn't always outright say or show it, he was glad she was with them.
He said her name to get her attention and when she looked in his direction, he told her, "I have another personal inquiry I wish to make of you...however, I fear it may be impertinent of me to do so."
"Tech, you can ask me anything," she reassured him, "and if I am uncomfortable answering, then I'll tell you."
He nodded and then proceeded to say, "Since the day we found you, your physical recovery has come along marvelously...but how are you faring with your psychological recovery?"
Kimber hummed in understanding, seeing now why he might've been hesitant to ask such a question. "That has definitely not been easy. I still have nightmares sometimes, though none as bad as the one on Rishi...but Echo and Hunter have been helping me."
"Echo is certainly the right candidate for assisting in your recovery...though how has Hunter helped you?"
She clenched her jaw to keep her face from revealing the truth of Hunter's true involvement and said in answer, "I believe he's been able to sense my distress with his heightened senses because every time I wake up from a nightmare, he's been there to help console me and calm me down."
"I see," Tech said.
"Yeah...so things are slowly getting better," she added.
"That is good news to hear. You seem happy and I merely wanted to be sure you weren't still suffering in any way and just putting on a front for the rest of us."
She snickered. "Even if I tried, you lads are far too observant for me. I wouldn't be able to hide anything like that from you guys."
"Nor should you have to. We all look out for each other here."
Tech and Kimber both shared grateful smiles.
Then Kimber said to him joyfully, "That means the world to me, Tech. Thank you."
He bowed his head and replied, "My pleasure, Kimber."
They both leaned back in their chairs, admiring the view in front of them. At least, Kimber did. It didn't take long for Tech to whip out his datapad and start typing things out on it.
"What sort of things do you have in that datapad?" she inquired curiously.
While keeping his eyes on the screen, he responded, "Ship schematics, weapons information, planet histories and details, profiles of important figures in the Republic, battle strategies, notes I've taken from our previous exploits, hacking systems and programming...many things."
She turned sideways in her seat to face him, bringing her legs back down. "Can you...can you show me? And teach me about some of those things?" she asked a little shyly.
Tech faced her, puzzled. "You want me to share my knowledge with you?"
With an encouraging smile, she replied, "I would love it. Will you?"
To say Tech was pleased that Kimber was showing an interest in his passion would have been an understatement. He swiftly turned in his chair, now facing her also, grinning from ear to ear.
"Gladly," he said.
Tumblr media
Back at base camp, Echo approached Hunter, who was standing alone with his arms folded and staring up at the sky. He'd been doing that for a few minutes and Echo started getting curious.
"You looking for something?" Echo asked him.
Hunter cast a glance at him briefly before looking back up. "Tech and Kimber have been gone for a couple of hours. I thought they'd be back by now."
Putting a hand on Hunter's shoulder, Echo told him, "I'm sure they're fine. If they were in any trouble, we would've heard from them."
"I know you're right. I just can't help but be concerned."
"You worry too much, Hunter. Kimber is just fine."
Hunter gave him a perplexed look. "What makes you think I'm only thinking about Kimber?"
Echo simply grinned deviously at him.
Before either of them could say anything more, they heard a ship approaching and the Marauder came flying in above their heads, preparing to land a few yards away from them. Seeing their ship, the two of them started making their way back to meet the other two. As the ramp to the Marauder lowered, Kimber and Tech stepped down, still in mid-conversation.
"...and that's why, in such a situation, it would be more beneficial to use a seismic charge," they heard Tech say.
"Ah, I see. That certainly would make more sense than using your standard weapons system," replied Kimber.
"My point exactly. Well, thank you for accompanying me, Kimber."
"It was my pleasure, Tech."
With that, Tech bowed his head to her and then noticed Hunter and Echo coming towards them.
"What took you two so long?" Hunter asked, his hands on his hips.
"Simply lost track of the time, Sarge," Tech casually informed him before just walking off, immersed yet again in his datapad.
Both Hunter and Echo watched him walk away and then looked to Kimber for an explanation.
"Tech was regaling me with lots of facts and information," she informed them, looking pleased.
Hunter heaved a sigh and said, "I'm sorry about that."
"What? No, don't apologize. I asked for it," she clarified. They raised their eyebrows at her and she went on, "I've hardly been away from Tatooine until recently and I barely know anything about the rest of the galaxy. I want to know more about the places we go to and the things we see. Tech knows so much and so I asked him to educate me a bit."
"And you enjoyed it?" Echo questioned.
With a grin, Kimber looked right at him and asked back, "I'm smiling, aren't I?"
Unable to argue that point, both Echo and Hunter just exchanged glances and shrugged, smirking in amusement.
"Well, I'm sure that made Tech happy," Hunter commented.
Kimber turned and looked to where Tech had gone, leaning against a tree and tapping on his datapad...with the hint of a small smile on his face.
"Yeah...," she replied gladly. "I think it did."

Lightning Prompts 10/5
Hey everyone! Thanks for coming out for this LIVEWRITE! We had a great time with so many different puns, me constantly consulting my lawyer (@a-shout-to-the-void) and the usual couch-vaulting. We also did a round of prompts! I took suggestions from the lovely audience and wrote mini-fics to it. They’re too short to have their own entries, so here they are!
TUMBLR USERNAME: @rainylune. PROMPT: Insufferable mother in law comes for a visit to Yukimura and MC.
Frankly, he hadn’t quite wrapped his mind around the concept of wormholes in general. Sasuke had patiently explained it to him at least five times, but none of the lectures ended with any better understanding. And really, it didn’t exactly matter this time.
Either way, understanding or not, her mother was coming to visit.
“She really likes things…” His wife’s eyes glazed over in a way that Yukimura usually saw with battle-hardened soldiers. “...tidy.”
Hells.
He was disciplined and minimalist, for certain, but that didn’t mean he was strictly clean. What did tidy even mean? He went back and forth on trying to scrub the place himself, panicking, and having his vassals join him in turns.
Put him on a battlefield? Sure. Put him in the crosshairs of a mother in law with exacting standards? Yukimura was very certain he’d prefer the battlefield.
When Sasuke finally picked her up, Yukimura made sure to have his retainers greet her befitting a great lady. He wore his best clothes and threw a feast for her, and by the end of it she was still frowning. What was he supposed to do? Beads of sweat collected at the back of his neck as he went to guide her to her room.
“This is your castle, correct?”
“Yes… my lady.” Yukimura staggered over the honorific. “Err, is something wrong?”
But the woman peered at him over that deep set frown, observing him for one long, harrowing moment--and started laughing.
“This has been priceless. She told me you’d sweat.”
“What?” Yukimura fumbled for clarity. “What?”
“It’s been lovely.” And his mother in law smiled bright at him, checking his shoulder with hers. “I’ve been giving you a hard time. She said you’d sweat a little.”
“Oh.” He rolled that over and over in his head, nodding intently. “I see. Have a good night, my lady.”
Oh, he was going to make her pay for that one.

TUMBLR USERNAME: @darkmindsthinktwistedthoughts. PROMPT: Explaining something modern to Kenshin. (Author’s note: I picked ‘Dada’ cause memes)
It started one day because she dropped an expensive teacup on her foot. Kenshin rushed to her side to check for any scratches, but she just stared off into the distance and deadpanned, “Well, I might as well die.”
“What?” Kenshin asked, horrified. “No, never--”
“--Oh, no, no honey, I don’t mean that literally.” His love laughed as if it were nothing at all. “No, that’s a pretty common joke in my time.”
What? He just stared at her, a hand full of ceramic shards. “How is that a joke?”
“Uh, so…” She lifted the hem of her kimono and scooped the rest of them up. “It all came from this thing called ‘Dada’.”
“‘Dada’,” he echoed solemnly, and the bizarre word apparently was funny enough in his mouth that she laughed outright at him. “What is that?”
“It’s an art movement? Basically after a very large world war, people were so traumatized that they decided nothing really was secure, sacred, or really mattered anymore? So they just started throwing things together and calling it ‘art’. A lot of it was usually pretty dark. So my generation kind of made their own version of it. There’s things like a picture of one of our presidents in red that says ‘then perish’, and things like that…” She giggled and added, “They’re called ‘memes’. One of them is ‘Well, I guess I’ll just die’.”
“Is that what Sasuke is forever quoting at you that you laugh so much at?”
“Yeah, but he’s mostly just doing vines. I’ll explain that one later.”
“Hmm.” Kenshin dumped the shards into a wastebin and clapped off his hands. “Teach me more of these ‘memes’.”
The next time he used his newfound knowledge, he was in battle. The blade of his lesser sword snapped, and without hesitation he turned and waved the hilt at Sasuke. “Ninja!”
“Yes, my lord?” Sasuke called back, fending off another oncoming samurai.
Kenshin lifted his broken hilt, deadpan. “This bitch empty. Yeet!”
Sasuke collapsed to the ground in laughter when his lord flung the shattered hilt into the crowd of enemies. Dada. He could get used to it.

TUMBLR USERNAME: @unstoppablelinda. PROMPT: Nobunaga and Kenshin in a bout of Wii Fencing.
“You do realize that no one can challenge my prowess in swordsmanship, correct?” Kenshin’s drawl was smooth as a winter day in spite of all the sake they’d put down. “You can’t win.”
“Fine words from you.” Nobunaga chuckled, haughty as ever. “They’ll go well on your tombstone.”
“Oh my god,” the chatelaine muttered, face in her hands. “Sasuke, what have you done.”
“Sped up the inevitable.” Her best friend looked unphased, but the flush in his cheeks betrayed just how drunk he had to be. “Besides, maybe in doing this we can keep them from having an actual sword fight.”
“Doubt it,” Yukimura huffed.
The two men latched the safety wristbands on with characteristic seriousness, both mouths set in a severe frown. Sasuke casually switched their Wii avatars to the closest representation of each man (which slowed the proceedings significantly as Kenshin kept insisting that his did not look like him, both of the eyes were the same color and it was almost insulting to think that it resembled him), but in the end, they both faced off against each other in a fencing match.
“Alright,” Sasuke slurred unsteadily. “You face--face the screen, not each other--”
“We can’t fight if we’re facing away from each other,” Kenshin pouted.
“No fighting happens adjacent to your opponent,” Nobunaga agreed.
“No, you do it at the screen. See?” Sasuke reached out and shook Nobunaga’s Wiimote to demonstrate, accidentally scoring a point against Kenshin. The buzzer went off; Yukimura shouted, Shingen bellowed a laugh, and Masamune cheered.
“You’re my ninja,” Kenshin stated, utterly offended. “Aiding the enemy, I see?”
“Come then, Kenshin.” Nobunaga soothed expertly. “It would be unsportsmanlike of me to not allow you a free point back.”
“That’s insulting. I don’t need that.”
“Then come, and stop your whining.”
“Whining? I won’t be the one whining when you lose--”
“Uh oh,” Shingen chuckled.
Kenshin charged at Nobunaga with his wiimote. Nobunaga parried just in time, the two of them suddenly in full blown duel. Sasuke shouted something like ‘not the equipment!’ but it was too late. The avatars on the screen floundered as the two men moved faster than the machine could pick up.
At the same time, both of the wrist bands snapped off the wiimotes and the two controllers went flying, one of them through a window and another straight into the TV. Yukimura and Masamune dove for the flat screen, bracing it before it shattered.
“Hmm.” Nobunaga hummed.
“I’ll go get it,” Kenshin huffed, taking the stairs two at a time to retrieve the one he’d flung into the street. “And afterward, you and I will finish this.”
“Please don’t,” Yukimura groaned. “And to think I just wanted to play bowling.”

Solarweek: Fight
It was a quiet day at Echo creek middle school, or as quiet as one would expect given the circumstances. Recess had just begun and two students were already staring each other down. On the one side was the girl known as Star Butterfly with her new magic wand, short blond hair, light blue t-shirt, and jeans and on the other side was her arch enemy, Sol Diaz, sporting his classic red hoodie and black skinny jeans as well as his three henchmen, Alfonzo, Ferguson, and Marcus. “You should just give up Sol!” Star exclaimed as she pointed her new wand at him. “You know you can't win, and I know you won't win.”
“How's that?” Sol asked. “You’re outnumbered and outmatched!”
Stars attention turned to Sol's three henchmen who all shared a concerned look. “How exactly did we get dragged into this?” Ferguson asked.
“I have no idea.” Alfonzo said with a shrug.
“I think it had something to do with a sparkler.” Marcus added.
Sol smiled as he took a step closer. “So … where is my disadvantage?”
“Your disadvantage lies in your second strike.” Star said with a smile.
Sol looked at her suspicious of her words. “Second strike?” He asked. “But I only have one strike.”
She smiled and nearly batted her eyelashes at him. “Why the second one you'll earn today after loosing to me even with all this help.”
Sol's face turned bright red as his henchmen shared a confused look. “Uh, what is she talking about?” Ferguson asked as he looked to Marcus.
“Don't ask me.” Marcus replied. “I just joined, remember.”
“It's not important.” Sol said as he looked back at his friends. “We will win which means that her point is completely mute.” He turned back to Star and smiled. “Now how about we get started. Bring her down!”
Ferguson and Alfonzo shared a shrug before darting towards her screaming like a pair of maniacs.
“Oh please.” Star said as she easily side stepped and tripped both of them. “You two can do better than that.”
Ferguson pushed himself to his feet and tried again only for Star to side step him once again and smack him on the back of the head with her wand, knocking him to the ground. “Who’s next?”
Sol looked back at Marcus who was trying to back away. “Marcus, get in there!”
Marcus let out a sigh. “I guess having dignity was fun while it lasted.” He ran towards her and slid to a stop before pretending to grab what could have been a sword or some form of whip. “Flame lash!” He wiped his hand forward as Star held up her wand in defense.
 “Supper bubble-“
“Too slow!” Marcus shouted back earning him a confused look from Star. “You do know a whip was the first man made object to break the sound barrier.” Star continued to look at him confused until he grabbed the top of his head and sighed. “That means it travels faster than sound.”
“Ohhhh.” Star said in realization. “Ach!” She threw herself back to what appeared to be a delayed reaction.
Marcus let out a small laugh then extended his hand as if he was about to do something else. “Flame blast!”
Star quickly rolled out of the way before making her way to her feet. “Flame blast!” Marcus shouted again, not letting Star a chance to recover. Star began to wave her wand as if about to cast a spell but Marcus was just a little faster. “Flame blast!” He shouted again forcing her to run more.
“Don’t you know any other spells traitor?” Star shouted at him.
“I just started this.” Marcus replied. “Cut me some slack.”
Star’s face lit up as she turned to face the boy in the blue hoodie. “Super slack buster!”
Marcus’s looked dumbfounded before slapping his face. “I walked right into that one, didn’t I?” He turned around and threw himself onto the ground as Star turned to face Sol.
“You’re henchmen are getting better but their still not good enough.” Star exclaimed.
“Well then I will have to take you on myself.” Sol replied as he took his fighting stance. “Mega death ray!”
Star dodged out of the way and pointed her wand at Sol but didn’t say anything. Instead, Star began to run at Sol who retaliated by trying to blast her again. “Mega shockwave blast!”
Star braced herself against the imaginary attack as Sol took this opportunity to attack her again. “Mega energy ray!”
Star couldn’t dodge out of the way of this one and threw herself to the ground. Sol froze at the sight of his crush, helpless on the ground as she tried to get to her feet as if in pain. “Oh no.” he whispered as he began to run up to her.
A devious smile crept across her face as she sprang to her feet and pointed her wand at the unsuspecting Sol. “Super narwhal nightmare!”
Sol was shocked but still threw himself to the ground all the same. “Sneak attack, that’s not like you Star.”
“You’re right, but that because I didn’t know it would work before.”
Sol’s eyes shot open at the realization. “No!” He shouted ass he also shot to his feet and took a fighting stance. “I will finish you!” He thrust his palm forward. “Mega crosshair cutter!”
Star dodged carefully out of the way of Sol’s attack before running right up to him and pointing her wand directly at his face. “Super syrup tsunami shockwave!!!”
Sol fell back as if struck by a might blow from Star’s magic wand. “Arg! I’m not-“
He was interrupted by Star placing her foot on Sol’s chest. “Done.” Sol looked up at the princess on top of him and blushed, she looked beautiful from this angle, heck, Sol thought she looked beautiful from any angle but being down there meant that she had won and Sol had lost, and that meant that unless he did some quick thinking, he would be at his second strike.
“No!” He shouted as he tried to get Star’s foot off him. “I’m not done!”
Before he could struggle, Star grabbed him by the collar and hoisted him to his feet earning her an astounded look from Sol at her shear strength. “I get that reaction from time to time.” She said as she brushed the dirt off him. “Oh, and don’t worry, that’s not you’re second strike.”
“It’s not?” Sol asked with a mix of relief and confusion.
“Of course not, if loosing o me meant you had feelings for me then out would have gotten three strikes on day one.”
She spun around and began walking off “I’m sure you’ll earn your other two strikes some other way.”
“Wait a second!” Sol called out. “Then what was all that about me getting a second strike if I lost?”
“I was playing with you.” She replied. “Seriously Sol, you shouldn’t take our fights so seriously anymore.” She began to rub her arm. “I mean, not since …” Before she could finish, Sol threw his arms around her and pulled her close to him.
At first, Star was shocked but soon she eased into it and hugged him back. “Are you trying to earn your second strike or something?” She asked.
“Shut it.” Sol replied. “Even if it seems like more of a fantasy then that just means we’re closer friends and aren’t I allowed to hug my friend who happens to be a girl when she feels down?”
She smiled and eased into the hug. “I guess I’ll allow it … but you do know that you will still eventually earn your second strike, right?”
 “I know.” Sol replied.
Star smiled mischievously as she glanced at Sol. “Are you confirming that you have a crush on me? If so then that’s all three strikes right there.”
“What!?” Sol exclaimed as he let go of her. “No I … I’m not … I’m just saying that … that I may get a second but not a third … no, not a chance.”
“We’ll see about that.” She replied before skipping off. “Once again, I, Star Butterfly, have vanquished evil and bested Sol Diaz and his henchmen.”
When she was a fair distance away, Alfonzo, Ferguson, and Marcus got to their feet and walked towards Sol. “What was that about man!” Ferguson asked. “It almost looked like you were flirting with her!”
Sol slowly turned to Ferguson and shot him a leer. “Ferguson, you remember what happened the last time you said that I had a crush on Star?”
“But she flirted with you and you flirted back!” Ferguson insisted. “That means you two are totally in love with each other!”
 “Ferguson!” Sol shouted.
“Sol and Star, sitting in a-“
Marcus slapped his hand onto Ferguson’s shoulder causing him to come to an abrupt stop. “Unless you want to incur the wrath of Sol and the future Mrs. Diaz, I suggest you stop that.”
 “Marcus!” Sol exclaimed.
Elsewhere, Star was skipping along happily as she recounted the events of the days fight. “Sol can get so cute when he gets flustered.” She said to herself.
“Then why do you keep toying with him?” Came a voice that took her by surprise.
She quickly turned around to see her old friend Janna leaning against a fence smiling at her. “I mean you already know he has feelings for you so why not make him your boyfriend?”
“Because we’re in middle school.” Star replied. “I’m a bit young to have a boyfriend at the moment.” She threw her hands behind her back and smiled. “I may start dating him in junior high but I’m not going to make him my ‘boyfriend’ until we’re in high school.”
“You can wait that long?” Janna asked.
“You wouldn’t understand, you try to jump into a relationship as soon as you see a cute boy.” She placed her hands onto her hips and leered. “And you betrayed me be the way, and I’m still angry.”
“Yeah yeah.” Janna replied as she looked away. “I would have you know that I had a crush on him first.”
“Did you have that crush on him at the time of your betrayal?”
Janna scratched her chin and shrugged. “Actually no, now that I think about it.”
 “Then you still betrayed me.”
Janna sighed then nodded. “Okay then, how about I but you some smoothies after school and we call it even.”
“I can agree to that.” Star replied.

(The Bad Batch) Going on a Boardwalk
Imagine: You and the Bad Batch go on a boardwalk by the ocean!
(Author’s Note: Happy Bad Batch eve!!!!)
You arrive at sunset.  The sky is a striking orange which is beginning to fade into dark blue, with the horizon above the ocean painted with all sorts of pastels in between the two shades.  The group sets foot on the creaking boardwalk and looks ahead at the long row of stands and shops that goes for miles.  Omega is “ooh”ing and “aw”ing at all the lights, and she pointed excitedly at the rides down by the pier.
And so, the Bad Batch begins the trek along the boardwalk.
Hunter’s first instinct is to watch Omega and smile at her reaction to the location.  There’s a pretty decent crowd, so he makes sure to keep an eye on her.  If you’re his significant other, you may be used to having to share your Sergeant since he was responsible for the squad...but it’s a boardwalk and it’s supposed to be fun, so you encourage him to relax.  Hunter eventually is able to let go and enjoy himself, entwining his fingers with yours and walking with you.  His favorite part of the boardwalk so far is hearing the crash of the waves nearby, hearing the seagulls, and feeling the salty air.  He absolutely loves glancing beside him to see you smiling and appreciating the sights too.
Tech spends the first few minutes on his datapad gathering whatever intel he could about the shops they have and whatnot.  He rarely goes into a situation without research simply because he likes to be prepared and he likes to have information whenever his brothers ask a question.  After that, he is quite happy to simply savor the scenery.  If you’re his date, he’ll want to hold your hand the whole way as you walk and take in the things to do.  Tech is interested in boardwalk games and arcades, and though he might not say so right away, you can see him staring whenever passing by one.
Echo is smiling a lot.  His mood is light as his gaze wanders the stands and sees all the happy people walking by.  This was the vacation that was long overdue, and he was going to enjoy it.  Lots of things grab his attention: the food, the games, the rides.  Omega convinces him to go on a ride with her later.  If you’re his significant other, he’d be at your side the whole time, holding your hand.  He’d rather let you pick what you want to do or see first.
Wrecker is in awe of all the things you can do and see in one place.  He and Omega are chattering about all the rides they want to go on later at the pier.  He is pretty fixated on the food for now.  If you’re his significant other, you may find that he goes from holding your hand to running toward whatever catches his eye, which happens often.  He’s pretty fixated on food and most likely won’t move on until he has something to eat.  Ever the gentleman, he wants to be sure you get something too.
Crosshair remains at your side as his sharp eyes take everything in.  He likes to follow the rear of the group.  Normally, he isn’t one for public displays of affection, but with all the young men running around in groups and after noticing the other couples walking hand-in-hand, he feels the need to mark you as his.  You’ll feel his hand gently take yours, and when you glance over he is already gazing at you.  He’s content to go wherever you want to go and just enjoys seeing you happy.
Omega is super excited and spends the first fifteen or so minutes planning to go on rides and trying to get her brothers to volunteer to take her.  Her eyes are aglow from the lights reflecting in them.  There are people who stand in front of the shops playing with whatever toy or fad was in to try and draw in customers, and Omega would definitely be drawn in.  She’d want to play with the bubble machines and robo pets even if for a few minutes before moving on.
After walking farther down the boardwalk, the Batch finds themselves drawn to different things, so they agree to separate for a little while.
Hunter will explore the shops with you, but he is most drawn to the edge of the boardwalk where he can watch the sun go down over the ocean.  If you’re his date, he would take the opportunity of having the others distracted to just shower you with affection.  He doesn’t make a scene or anything, but he smiles warmly at you,  gives your hand a little kiss, and kisses your forehead in between ganders at the ocean.  Eventually, he can’t resist anymore and tilts your chin to meet your lips with his own in a tender kiss just as the sun dips beneath the horizon.
Tech wants to play some arcade games, if you’re up for it.  He enjoys showing off his intellect and skill, but sometimes he likes a good game of chance where anything can happen.  He can calculate probability for those scenarios, but not much beyond that.  He also really loves watching you.  He’ll stand behind you with his chest pressed to your back and watch you play your favorite game.  His absolute favorite is to go up against you in a two-player game.  He loves the competition and when you playfully talk smack when he gets cocky.  If Tech wins, he’ll want a kiss as his prize.
Echo will gladly go along with whatever his significant other wants to do first.  If you want to look at the ocean, he is more than happy to do it with you.  If you’d rather get something to eat, he’s in.  One thing he does want to do during your time together is browse the gift shops and pick up a souvenir.  He’d treat you to something like matching oversized hoodies with the boardwalk logo on them or nice mugs to use for caf aboard the Marauder.  If you tried hard enough to convince him, he might even agree to get those matching couple shirts displayed in the windows like “her king” and “his queen” or something customized.  He playfully rolls his eyes as you hold one of the shirts up in front of him, but he can’t help but lean in and capture your lips in a loving kiss.
Wrecker definitely wants to grab something to eat first.  There are so many different places that he can’t decide which one to commit to for his first boardwalk meal.  He ends up getting a little something from a few different places.  Pizza, hotdogs, fries… He gets enough for both of you to share, and the two of you would find a nice spot at a table near the edge where there’s a lovely view of the ocean.  After the two of you are full, he’d be more attentive and open to whatever you wanted to see next, holding your hand and giving you kisses.
Crosshair is fine with letting you lead the way to whatever you wanted to do first.  He is enjoying all of the sights with you, and that’s more than enough for him.  However, if you were to ask if there’s anything he’d like to see in particular, he wouldn’t mind stopping in one of the shops with henna tattoos and edgy t-shirts.  He’d get himself an oversized hoodie to wear for a little while before pulling it down over your form when the sun disappeared behind the horizon and it got colder outside.  He’d smile at you as you hugged yourself in the air and sighed in contentment: That new hoodie smell would be mingled with his own scent.  He takes your hand again and the two of you continue on your way.
Omega tags along with one of her brothers for a while and ends up getting something to eat and a toy from one of the shops to keep tucked under her arm as she explores.  She begs Hunter to let her get a temporary tattoo.   He’s hesitant because she’s young and he doesn’t want her to think she has to impress the group by getting a real tattoo someday, but since it’s only a temporary one just for fun, he decides it’s okay.  Omega gets a little seahorse and starfish on the back of her hand.
Next up are the rides!  The group reunites and heads over to the pier to buy some tickets.  With the sun down, the rides are all lit up in the dark.
Hunter won’t pressure you to go on anything if you don’t like rides, and he will probably only go on a couple of rides with Omega to make her happy, but will spend most of the time at your side.  If you do want to go but are a little nervous, he’ll gladly hold your hand and tease you playfully until you go with him.  If you are the kind of person who loves to go on all the rides, he’ll go on a few with you and stand by and hold your things while you go on more.
Tech will definitely go on some rides if you want to.  Otherwise, he will try one or two on his own and be content with standing back and watching everyone else alongside you.  He might get some recordings of Wrecker’s screams on the really high ones that Omega managed to convince him to go on.  If you do go on crazy rides, Tech will film your reaction to play back and tease you lovingly about with that cute smirk on his face.
Echo would rather watch the others have their fun.  He gets a little salty and says Tech’s wild flying is more than enough for him.  However, Omega somehow got him to agree  to go with her before, so he’ll keep his word and go on a ride with her.  If you enjoy rides, he will also make an exception for you too.  However, if you’d rather watch the others, the two of you can stand near the ride and wave as they go.
Wrecker loves fast rides, but still is terrified when it comes to heights.  He’ll tolerate a rollercoaster that goes in a few loops, but if it’s the kind that climbs agonizingly slow to the top and then flies down a steep drop from a few hundred feet up, he’ll be covering his eyes and screaming.  Him and Omega stick to the ones that aren’t too bad.  If you enjoy rides, Wrecker will be happy to go on them with you.  He’ll even accompany you on one of the high coasters if you insist on going by yourself, because he’s worried for you and wants to protect you even if it scares the heck out of him.  If you don’t like rides, he’ll probably still go on a few with Omega.  The two of them will wave at you and grin adorably.
Crosshair is not scared one bit and will do the craziest ride on the pier, if challenged.  It makes him the perfect person to go on rides with if you’re a little scared.  He’ll go on anything with you, keeping calm and holding your hand even if you’re totally freaking out.  Doesn’t matter if you want to go on thirty rides or just one, he’s down.  If rides aren’t your thing, he’s also fine to stand with you and watch the others.  Better watch out, if he feels the need to show off, he will go on the craziest ride just to make a point.
Omega wants to go on every ride within reason.  There are height limits to some, so she’ll obviously avoid those.  Her and Wrecker are buddies when it comes to rides since he;s the Bad Batcher who enjoys them the most, although she’ll manage to get Echo and Hunter to go with her on a few.  And if everyone else is done with rides, Tech or even Crosshair will go on one with her.
The squad will turn and head back toward the exit.  They may stop at a few stands on the way back to see anything they missed on the way up.  Omega is exhausted, so one of the brothers carries her back.
When you get back to the ship, everyone is tired and heads to their bunks.  You get cozy with your Bad Batch SO and drift off to sleep...

Pairing: The Bad Batch x Reader (Polyam)
Summary: You and the Batch decide to stay at a hotel before leaving Coruscant to get some rest. Part 5 of my polyam series.
Warning: steamy scenes, no smut but it gets intimate, teasing, mentions of alcohol
Word Count: 2048
A/N: sorry for the small hiatus
Pt IV, Pt VI
XXXXXXX
You all decided to get a hotel room for the night because the boys were a bit tipsy and they didn’t want to spend the night in the Havoc Marauder. You walked into the hotel room and looked to the service bot.
“One suite, please.”
“We can just get a regular room, mesh’la.” Hunter insisted but you shook your head.
“Your keycard.” The service droid ejected two cards and you took both before heading to the elevator with the others. You stood with Wrecker as he babbled about something, obviously due to the multiple drinks he downed at 79’s. When you arrived at your designated floor, all of you made your way to the large suite. You inserted the keycard and the doors slid open with a hiss. Everyone stepped in and relished the sight of the fairly large room.
“Wow…” Wrecker whispered.
“Cyare… how did you get this room?”
“I’m sure we don’t have credits like this.” Tech admitted which made you smile.
“My father hid most of his money away before he was sent to Caetum… when I confirmed with some officials in the Republic that I was his daughter and secured my position on Kamino, they granted me access to his credits. I don’t use it often though.” You shed your jacket and placed it over one of the loveseats before turning to the boys.
“I’m gonna take a quick shower. Please… don’t break anything.”
They all nodded while shedding off their armor.
You exited the ‘fresher and found the boys sitting around. Tech and Crosshair were watching a show on the holoscreen, Wrecker was knocked out on one of the beds, Echo was calibrating his robotic arm out of boredom, and Hunter was standing at the window. He was looking at the vehicles passing by just under the level of the window. You walked over to him before placing your hand on his bicep.
“Hunter?”
He looked down to you, “Yes?”
“Are you alright?”
“Of course…” He turned to you and cupped your face, “Just thinking.”
You nodded and looked over to the others, “Don’t think I haven’t forgotten what happened at 79’s!”
“Tech was the one who started it.” Echo smirked, but his brother started to stutter.
“I-I had no intention of teasing. Hunter called her over!”
“I called you over! I just suggested you bring her over! You could’ve said no!” Hunter laughed as the both of you sat down with the others. You shook your head and looked at Crosshair as he smirked slyly.
“Oh, but you all enjoyed it anyway.”
Echo shrugged while sitting back, and the others smiled.
“It was cute seeing you all… worked up.” Tech murmured, looking away with a light blushed.
“Until you started comparing us to regs…” Crosshair switched his toothpick to the other side of his mouth.
“Oh, I’m sure she didn’t need me to give her that idea in her head. Most of those clones seem “acquainted” with her already.”
“Then why’d you say it?” Echo interjected.
“I liked seeing you guys worked up also.” You smiled, looking at the change in facial expressions. Hunter moved closer to you and rested his arm behind you.
“So… we’re even then?”
You looked at him and immediately noticed the hint of desire in his eyes. Games may have been played at 79’s, but you weren’t done just yet. You smiled sweetly to Hunter before leaning in for a kiss but then your lips found its place at the corner of his lips and continued to the marked part of his skin. Hunter tensed slightly from the grace of your lips against his skin, but as you moved his shoulders slumped and that’s when you knew he was wrapped around your finger. You pulled away from him slowly with a sly smile, got up from your seat, then walked towards Tech and Crosshair. You took a spot in between the both of them and smiled innocently before cupping Tech’s face as you swung your legs over Cross’s lap. You kissed his chin before lining kisses along his jaw. This caused Tech to whimper gently, but you didn’t continue due to Crosshair grasping the back of your neck and bringing your face closer to his; however you were quicker than him by pressing your hand against his chest so his lips couldn’t connect with yours. He made a small disapproving sound, but that didn’t make you shy away, only continued your teasing. You trailed your hand up his chest and hooked his chin lightly before rubbing your noses together with a smile. Crosshair couldn’t stop himself from closing his eyes and relishing the feel of your skin against his. You hummed, tilted your head, and placed a small kiss on his cheek before moving. The both of them watched you as you made your way to Echo and stood before him. He was sat back against the loveseat and looked up to you while his breathing became shallow.
“Is this seat taken?” You whispered, gesturing down to his lap.
This must have rendered him speechless because he just glanced down at his lap before looking back up at you and shaking his head weakly. You smiled sweetly, sat on his lap, and leaned your chest into his. Echo swallowed harshly while looking at you. You knew he was still insecure about his new body ever since the others rescued him on Skako Minor, but you saw passed that ever since the first day you met him. You raised your hand to caress the side of his cheek, looked into his eyes, and smiled. He looked deeply into your eyes before you craned your head to kiss the pale skin of his neck. He let out a shaky breath and tilted his head back to give you more access. You pulled away after a few moments when a groan came from the bed where Wrecker had been sleeping.
“What’s going on?” He stood, looking over his brothers. He noticed the fluster amongst all of their faces as their eyes averted to you. You looked up to him with a sweet smile which caused him to laugh boisterously.
“Been teasing them, have you, ad’ika?”
You nodded as he bent to kiss your forehead before heading to the kitchenette provided in the suite where he found a snack to munch on.
“Don’t let me stop you, ad’ika. I’ll just be here.” He leaned against the counter while turning on the small holo tablet on the counter to watch a show. You looked back to Echo, who’s cheeks were flushed. This caused you to smile before getting up and stretching with a yawn escaping your mouth.
“I’m going to get some sleep.” You headed into the secluded bedroom the suite provided, letting the door shut behind you. Once you were out of sight, the boys started to fight over who gets to take a cold shower in the refresher first while Wrecker laughed at them.
In the morning, you all made your way back to the Havoc Marauder and set course for Kamino. You sat at one of the ship’s computers, looking over some recent data. The door to the cockpit slid open and Tech walked out before taking his place behind you.
“You alright, darling?”
“Yeah, just looking some stuff over before I input it into the system on Kamino.”
“Hm…” He leaned down and flicked his tongue against the shell of your ear, causing you to shiver and lose all your tension in your shoulders.
“T-Tech…” You whispered as he bit your ear lobe and hummed before whispering.
“You should keep working, my darling.”
You gulped before going back to typing some stuff down as his breath caused your skin to tingle. He laid small kisses against your ear before standing straight and going back into the cockpit. You let out a small groan before unplugging your holopad and going towards your bag to put it away. You crouched down to place it safely and keep the contents organized. When you got up and turned, you found Hunter behind you which caused you to jump slightly.
“Oh! Hunter. You startled me.”
“Sorry, mesh’la.” He murmured, looking at you with intense eyes.
You furrowed your brows before moving to get past him, but he grasped your bicep just tight enough to stop you from going anywhere. He then pulled you closer to him before moving to have your back against the wall. You looked deeply into his eyes as he hovered over you. One of his hands trailed down from your arm to against your waist, but then he pulled away and left you there without another word. You took a moment to process what had just happened before going back to where the computers were before looking up at the hatch above you. You always had a hard time opening the door. It was a small storage space where some wiring was and you helped Tech a lot when the ship took a hit around that area. You didn’t really need anything from there but you needed to busy yourself because staring at your holopad or the computer display hurt your eyes. You sighed before climbing onto the computer chair and opening the hatch. You tried to reach the edge so you could pull yourself up, but then the chair moved suddenly which caused you to lose your footing. You didn’t hit the ground though. Instead, you were caught by someone. You looked to see Wrecker who had an amused smile.
“Don’t go hurting yourself, ad’ika!”
Before you could respond, he swung you over his shoulder and carried you around the ship.
“Wrecker!” You laughed, flailing your legs around slightly to get out of his grip, but he just laughed.
“You can’t overpower me, ad’ika!” He placed you down on one of the seats and raised your chin, “I could do anything to you.”
Then he made his way to the bunks while you were left speechless. Now you knew they were teasing you on purpose… again. You groaned and let your head hang low before going to the cockpit and finding Echo doing some repairs while Tech was typing away on one of his devices. You stood next to where Echo was laying under the console.
“Need any help, trooper?” You offered.
“Nope, almost done here.” He replied before moving out from under the console and cleaned up the tools. You crouched down to help him put the tools back into its box. While you were busy organizing it, Echo stood up and moved his flesh hand to your face before raising it to look up at him. His thumb traced your top lip and he murmured.
“So beautiful.”
Then he sat back in the chair next to him as if nothing happened. You furrowed your brows and placed the toolbox away before making your way out of the cockpit. You sighed before going to Crosshair’s compartment, hoping to find some peace there, but you should have known better. You found Cross in his chair, looking aimlessly out of the window to the passing stars. His eyes were still direct, as a sniper’s eyes should be. He immediately averted them to you once you came into view.
“Am I interrupting something?”
He didn’t respond. Instead he just stood up and looked at you. You almost lost your breath as he got closer and wrapped a secure arm around your waist while his hand made its way to the back of your neck. He brought his face closer to yours and you closed your eyes before he urged your head to tilt back slightly so the skin of your neck was exposed to him. He was breathing gently, only letting his lips graze against the surface of your throat before he murmured gently.
“Sarad…”
This made your heart flutter and your eyes opened. None of the boys had ever used that nickname for you before and you knew this name was only allowed to leave Crosshair’s lips. He raised your head back up and released you so you could stand straight. You looked at him for a moment but then Tech’s voice filled the ship.
“We’re landing on Kamino in T-minus 5 minutes. I suggest you get strapped in.”
