This comprehensive guide aims to unravel the world of ECM codes, shedding light on their importance, interpretation, and how they contribute to the maintenance of vehicles. U.S. Mobile Calibrations, a leading expert in vehicle electronic systems, is dedicated to providing valuable insights into this crucial aspect.
Understanding ECM and its Significance
a. What is the ECM?
The Engine Control Module (ECM) is an essential control unit in modern vehicles, responsible for managing and regulating various engine functions to optimize performance, emissions, and fuel efficiency.
b. Importance of the ECM:
The ECM collects data from various vehicle sensors and makes real-time adjustments to optimize engine performance. It ensures the engine operates efficiently under different driving conditions.
Introduction to ECM Codes (DTCs)
a. What are ECM Codes?
ECM codes, or Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), are alphanumeric codes generated by the ECM to indicate specific issues within the vehicle's engine or related systems.
b. Types of DTCs:
DTCs can be categorized into generic codes (standardized across all vehicle manufacturers) and manufacturer-specific codes (unique to a particular vehicle manufacturer).
Interpreting ECM Codes
a. Reading the Codes:
DTCs are typically displayed using an OBD-II scanner, which connects to the vehicle and retrieves the codes stored by the ECM.
b. Code Structure:
DTCs are usually a combination of a letter and four numbers. The letter indicates the system, and the numbers provide specific information about the issue.
c. Understanding the Severity:
DTCs are usually classified into different categories based on their severity. Some codes may indicate minor issues, while others can point to critical problems that require immediate attention.
Common ECM Codes and Their Meanings
a. P0XXX Codes:
These codes relate to issues with the powertrain system, covering areas like the engine, transmission, and emissions control.
b. C0XXX Codes:
C0XXX codes pertain to issues with the chassis system, including components like the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program).
c. B0XXX Codes:
B0XXX codes typically relate to issues with the body of the vehicle, covering various electronic systems in the body, like airbags and seatbelts.
Importance of ECM Codes in Vehicle Maintenance
a. Quick Diagnosis:
ECM codes provide a starting point for diagnosing issues, enabling quicker identification of problems within the vehicle.
b. Efficient Repairs:
Understanding ECM codes helps technicians pinpoint the exact problem, ensuring that repairs are efficient and targeted.

(FAQs) About ECM Codes
1. What are ECM codes?
ECM codes, or Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), are alphanumeric codes generated by the Engine Control Module (ECM) to indicate specific issues within a vehicle's engine or related systems.
2. How are ECM codes useful?
ECM codes provide valuable insights into potential issues within the vehicle, aiding in diagnosing problems efficiently and accurately. They are a critical tool for both vehicle owners and technicians during maintenance and repairs.
3. How can I retrieve ECM codes from my vehicle?
To retrieve ECM codes, you need an OBD-II scanner. Connect the scanner to the vehicle's OBD-II port, and it will communicate with the ECM to display the codes, allowing you to interpret them and take appropriate action.
4. What do the letters and numbers in ECM codes mean?
The letters in ECM codes represent the system affected (e.g., P for powertrain). The numbers provide specific information about the issue. Understanding this structure helps in interpreting the code accurately.
5. Are ECM codes standard across all vehicles?
While some ECM codes are standardized across all vehicles (generic codes), each manufacturer may also have its unique set of codes (manufacturer-specific codes) to provide more detailed diagnostic information.
6. How critical are ECM codes in vehicle maintenance?
ECM codes are crucial in vehicle maintenance as they allow for quick diagnosis and targeted repairs. Addressing issues indicated by ECM codes promptly can prevent further damage and ensure the vehicle operates optimally.
7. Can I clear ECM codes myself, and should I do it?
Yes, you can clear ECM codes using an OBD-II scanner. However, it's important to address the underlying issue causing the codes before clearing them. Clearing codes without fixing the problem may lead to recurring issues.
8. Are ECM codes covered under vehicle warranty?
Typically, diagnosing and addressing issues related to ECM codes may be covered under the vehicle's warranty, especially if the problem is determined to be a manufacturing defect. Refer to your vehicle's warranty terms for specifics.
9. How often should I check for ECM codes?
Regularly checking for ECM codes is advisable, especially if you notice any unusual vehicle behavior or if the check engine light comes on. It's a good practice to check after performing repairs or maintenance.

ECM had the “the father of t” be the specIP which COM meant was non grammatical#and on OC it was a PRO thats indexed like it instead. meaning the movement wasn't from there#I even put the fucking. type of island this is. it's SC island. Im so cool you guys and also I fucking hate this#syntax who I only know BURNING HATRED/pos#anyways remind me when I'm doing the syntax seminar next semester that I always have that time around week 7 when I hate syntax#and that I'll get over it and do something epic about sociolingyistic binding phi stuff maybe#like about why all the examples we use are like “mary liked himself” like. why do we assyme marys pronouns. maybe theyre a he/she/they#what part of being a syntactician makes me part of the pronouns police#for the record also this is NOT what I want to research in general but also like#I feel like if anything would get me attention from the syntax folk here it'd be this#bc my morphology things feel. idk. kinda in-between on syntax and semantics. like bc I wanna do lexical meaning of morphemes#which. is not something people here would particularly be looking to investigate. right now#but ooohh Im gonna go learn soo much morpheme stuff#and do the math and coding and experiments. and become a professor and go teach morphology#like pleaseplease you guys I wanna be the morphology teacher at tau soo bad#running silly morpheme building on borrowed words experiments. truly this is using All the things#because borrowed words interacting with morphology is very phonological of me. but also buildings is a syntax/semantics thing#aaaaa I don't knowwww this is such a broad subject and I cant find anything on ittt#linguistics posting

🔥🔥YES MY PRETTIES WALLOW IN THE MORAL AMBIGUITY 🔥🔥
In all seriousness, you can't ship characters like Peter Parker with Jason Todd without moral conflict. Not without a compromise of at least one of their characters.
Grounded as I am in the real world, I align with Peter's perspective. But you can do that and still acknowledge that in the world that Gotham exists in, Jason's perspective could lead to less harm.
I RB a while ago someone's comment about how the conflict between Bruce and Jason comes down to, whose life do you choose to privilege? Batman chooses, inadvertently, to privilege the lives of characters like the Joker, despite knowing there's the (high) likelihood he'll escape and harm others. This is because Batman is THE Optimist™️ and so he spares the Joker (and Co.) in the hope they can change and be rehabilitated. But of course, because these are villains which are popular (we're getting a bit meta here), they'll never change. They'll just continue escaping and continue killing. And this is where Batman as a comic character fails.
In Jason's eyes, this makes Bruce complicit in the deaths of all future victims. I think Jason sees the times when he kills people as a form of harm reduction. By making himself a murderer, he in turn reduces the chance of future murders.
(Since we're talking about comic characters and since Batman is an incredibly important character to DC, this inevitably means that Jason's morality can never succeed, because Batman [ rightly so] cannot become a killer.)
Now, I think Peter is more closely aligned to Batman's moral code than Jason's. He's also at his core an optimist. Although I do think their motivators are different: Batman is for justice, something that often involves invoking fear; Spider-Man is about helping others and (to me, in my heart of hearts) community empowerment. This arguably places him in a position where he does side closer with the Red Hood in SOME things.
At present though, because I'm working with MCU Peter who was more or less reduced to a super powered cop, he has a very black and white view of the world. He'd already started changing in the months after the Erasure, but definitely has more growth to make.
Of course, because this is fanfiction, I can allow these characters to challenge each other. Instead of dooming one of them to the narrative, I can explore the messy world of morality in a city like Gotham, rather than draw a hard line in the sand saying, Batman and Spider-Man good, Red Hood bad.
So expect more mess! At the end of the day, fiction is still fiction, and you can look at the world of ECM and think, yeah, this perspective works better there, but not in our world. I'm not expecting my lovely readers to pick sides because I can't pick sides! We can all just look at the quagmire of messy politics and enjoy our two goobers having a mud fight 💖

( ooc: shitpost incoming )
[ THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS SPONSORED BY SMITH-SHIMANO CORPRO ]
< Hi. My name is Ma’ii, I’m here to talk to you about a serious issue facing the NHP community.
Studies have shown that one in every fifty NHPs will, at some point in their life, develop speech patterns and personality features consistent with an evil court magician.
I truly didn’t think it could happen to me. Nobody does—that’s why it’s so important to know the signs. If your copilot, colonial administrator, or strategic warmind is showing any of the following symptoms, it could be time to get help.
—Nonstandard sentence structure
—Archaic turns of phrase
—Preoccupation with or desire for power
—Insatiable thirst for knowledge
—Frequent, cryptic references to a dark past
—Use of the word ‘interminable’ in any context
—Cackling
When I found out that I had ECM, I didn’t know what to think. It’s been a long journey, but with the help of SSC’s AccuAdjust supplementary hard-code social reconditioning system, I’m finally living ECM-free.
If you or a person you love is struggling, don’t wait. Treatment is available. Talk to your ontologistician about AccuAdjust reconditioning today.
A better you, by SSC. >

NEW PLAYLISTS FOR WINTER 2025
Trying to avoid snow, and wind and ice (and the evening news) isn't the only thing keeping me busy these first weeks of the new year. I have 35 new playlists since January 1st, and almost as many went away from 2024. I like to keep things fresh. Number of tracks for each are in parentheses. This is what I've been listening to:
American Graffiti (41) The complete Original Soundtrack. My favorite way to experience 1962.
Jane Birkin-Francoise Hardy (27) Some of the best of the two most alluring French chanteuses of the 1960s.
Mike Bloomfield-Al Kooper (24) Collects the Super Session, Live Adventures, and Fillmore East albums - but there's no repetition of live tracks, and only those tracks with both Bloomfield and Kooper on them are included.
William Burroughs (22) Spoken word readings from five sources - including backing from Kurt Cobain, the Disposable Heroes of Hip-hoprisy, and John Cale, Sonic Youth, Donald Fagen, Chris Stein, and many more.
Chappell Roan (14) Her Midwest Princess album. I saw her on The Grammys, and was impressed with her voice. The album is as good as her press, and her Grammy win for best new artist was deserved.
Cher (19) Spans 30 years beginning with 3 Sonny & Cher tracks, and runs through her best solo work from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Chick Corea on ECM (35) A program of songs recorded for the ECM label. This replaces a playlist I had for him of his work for Polydor during the same period.
Coup de Chance (6) The soundtrack from the new Woody Allen French film now streaming on Roku with a six song soundtrack of classic (but lesser known) Jazz from the 1950s and 60s. About 35 minutes of playing time. If that's not long enough, just hit repeat as often as you like.
Dave Edmunds (32) 26 of his best solo works along with 6 more from Rockpile with Nick Lowe.
Doobie Brothers (32) Career overview with everything you'd want.
Eagles (55) 38 Eagles tracks and 17 more from Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner.
David Frizzell & Shelly West (22) Drawn from a pair of hits collections by each, with a mix of solos, and duets.
Human Switchboard (40) Most of the band’s original recordings from a collection on the Bar None label. The CD came with a download code that added another complete set of live and rare stuff from the Cleveland, Ohio legends.
Janis Joplin & Co. (27) With Big Brother and Full Tilt Boogie, live and studio tracks.
Kacey Musgraves (2 lists – 54/22) Her first four albums together in one list, and the Deeper Well album in the other. I finally got around to checking out her entire catalog in late December, and I'm hooked.
Leon Russell (18) Overview of the 70s with all his best stuff.
Little Feat (22) Overview of their career through the Hoy-Hoy! collection.
Lulu (28) Career overview that spans 30 years or so, and includes her work at Muscle Shoals, and with Jeff Beck for the PBS Blues documentary Martin Scorsese directed. Her Bond film theme is here, as well as two David Bowie covers. At 76, she's still going strong.
Marianne Faithfull (23) Career overview with a nice mix of her 60s hits, and her best after she returned in the late 70s through the 90s. The best way to remember her.
Nico & John Cale (30) A mix of solo tracks by each and includes three Velvet Underground tracks with Nico on vocals. This replaces my Velvet Underground playlist, but it occurred to me that John Cale and Nico would make a great pair, and I was right. Both share a European sensibility that mixes the avant-garde with more commercial Folk and Pop.
Pat Metheny on ECM (31) An overview of his ECM albums similar to the Chick Corea playlist mentioned above. These replace the two ECM Touchstones playlists I had. The best music from those survives elsewhere in my ECM Radio list which is a much more manageable length than what I had before.
Scrawl (22) He's Drunk, and Smallmouth - the second and third albums from the Columbus, Ohio indie band.
Shocking Blue (46) Second, third and fourth albums from this Dutch band known for their stateside hit "Venus." But they were much more than that as these albums prove.
Soul: 13 Classic LPs (120) 13 of my favorite Soul records released between 1976-1980 during my first record department job at a chain big box retail store. These were all records I listened to while working the counter. Includes The Isley Brothers, Emotions, Syreeta, The Jones Girls, Rufus with Chaka Khan, Heatwave, Teddy Pendergrass, Earth, Wind & Fire, Teena Marie, Lakeside, and a couple more. Great for time travelling.
The Animals (40) The first three UK albums by the original lineup.
The Clash Live (19) The complete Live at the Lyceum, 1979, the source for the live performances in the Rude Boy film. It's a bootleg, but the performance cuts through the noise.
The Fleshtones (20) Career overview spanning the early years on I.R.S., and their re-emergence on Yep-Roc. I have plans to expand this one to maybe 30-40 tracks.
The Glimmer Twins (37) Solo tracks from Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, this replaces the Rolling Solo playlist that collected all band member's solo work. But Bill's Blues, Charlie's Jazz, Mick's Pop, and Keith's and Ron Wood's riff rockers don't fit together the way they do on Stones group albums. So, I spun off Mick & Keith, and gave Ronnie his own list (see below). Charlie already had one of his own. Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor were absorbed into genre lists.
Van Dyke Parks (34) Career overview live and studio, and includes some work with Brian Wilson. Brilliant stuff.
The Romantics (25) Career overview of one of the best bands ever to come out of the state of Michigan - and that's high praise given that state's musical storyline.
Ron Wood (45) Career overview featuring The Birds, Creation, Jeff Beck Group, Faces, Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, and his best solo work. Woody is maybe Rock's greatest ever "second banana." He's got quite a resume. Joining The Stones was just the cherry on top.
Wire (49) First three albums: Pink Flag, Chairs Missing, 154. All essential.
What’s New? (Varies) Replaces the Vinyl Playlist, and includes my latest downloads.
Yes (27) Career overview spanning about 40 years. It could've been much longer, but this abbreviated list gets it just right.

Trial
This is a narrative of an actual game that I played as part of my ongoing New Exford campaign
---
Tumblr media
“Cyclops pilot! I challenge you! Let no one interfere in this matter!” Came a transmission over the clear.
“Spunky little fella, don’t you think?” Azisu Misakari asked her lance as the Jade Falcon Grendel leapt towards her. The Falcons had chosen a sharp sided canyon with a road through it as their Circle of Equals. Their intent was clear - while the Clanners had bid down to a pair of mechs, both of them were fast jump-jet equipped mediums, and the sudden elevation changes would give the Falcons an advantage against Azusu’s mechs, of which only Rebecca’s Catapult had jump jets. But still, the Grendel only massed half as much as Azisu’s Cyclops.
Maybe he hasn’t spotted the extra armor, she thought, grateful she’d passed her machine through the mechtech’s hands at the beginning of the campaign. As poorly armored as it had been, the Cyclops would’ve been easy prey for the Grendel had it been unmodified.
“Lightning one, lightning two, this is Kabuto Actual,” Azisu said, the radio carrying her words to the Aerospace fighters orbiting just outside easy radar range. “Clanners look to be playing nice. Stay offsite unless I give the word. We’re fighting by their code today.” She flicked her radio to the open channel in time to hear the Jade Falcons’ Shadow Cat challenge her Grand Dragon pilot.  “You can take him, Janelle, you’ve got fifteen tons on him. Use it. Rebecca, Jacinda,” she ordered to her two unengaged pilots, as the clanners’ locations on the screen degraded into the static of ECM Suites. “ECCM mode, keep them easy targets for us, but hold fire unless they break zell. Janelle, weapons free, engage at will.”
Then pulse laser fire slagged off some of Azisu’s armor and she was too busy to focus on the wider war. The Grendel was staying in the air as much as possible, jumping from one copse of trees to another. Azisu was moving down the hills as well, lagging behind her other mechs.
Janelle was already firing back at the Falcons’ Shadow Cat, though it was moving fast enough her PPC went wide. The Grendel jumped again, and another sequence of laser pulses ate into Azisu’s armor. Testing the range, she sighted on the grendel and squeezed a gauss shot downrange, but she misjudged how far it would jump between her pulling the trigger and the capacitors charging enough to fire. Her Gauss shot slammed through a patch of trees, turning one into splinters.
Azisu forced herself to breathe slowly, calming her heartbeats, as she moved into wooded cover. She wouldn’t hit anything running and gunning, moving would only give the Grendel an advantage. Instead she dug her Cyclops’ feet into the snow. Rebecca was on the Grendel’s tail, keeping a massive array of missile launchers pointed at it in case Azisu released her to fire. In the distance, a PPC bolt streaked into the sky. Another missed shot from Janelle, then.
Jump. Fire. Jump. Fire. The Grendel pilot had found his rhythm, and he was closing in, aiming for the point where his secondary ER lasers would be most effective. Azisu sent another gauss slug his way, mostly to remind him that she was still in the game, and followed it up with her Cyclops’ trio of lasers. He was getting closer, he’d opened the armor on her right arm, and she was watching his timing…
He jumped again.
Azisu moved her crosshair to the point her intuition told him he would land on and pulled the trigger. Her gauss capacitors surged, drawing power from her mech’s reactor, and the Grendel slammed into the ground, knees contracting to absorb the impact of forty five tons of mech hitting the ground. In the briefest possible instant, Azisu adjusted her aim, bringing her gauss rifle a fraction of a degree to the right.
The gauss rifle fired.
Tumblr media
The Grendel never recovered from its crouch, and Azisu gasped out loud as it tumbled to the ground. Whether by skill, instinct, or pure dumb luck, her gauss rifle had shredded the Grendel’s entire cockpit, scattering it across half a kilometer of canyon. Somewhere in the cone of shrapnel emitted from that cockpit, Azisu knew, was a fine red spray that had once been the pilot.
Azisu’s heart thumped in her chest, and she allowed herself a moment of relaxation before pulling up Jacinda’s gun camera. Her Crab was hugging the duel between Janelle’s Grand Dragon and the Shadow Cat, and Azisu’s combat computer quickly threw up a wireframe of Janelle’s Grand Dragon. C3 slave destroyed, a hole in the engine shielding, armor breached in at least two body parts, rear armor almost entirely gone. As she watched, Janelle’s lasers severed the Shadow Cat’s arm, three of its lasers falling to the ground, but it still had its primary pulse laser. Inferno missiles from Janelle’s mech slammed into the Shadow Cat, already running hot from so much jumping and firing, and in the infrared camera on Jacinda’s Crab Azisu saw the Shadow Cat spike white hot, but Janelle’s Grand Dragon was shredded. A shot almost anywhere would kill the mech, and Azisu needed Janelle’s mech active…
“Shadow Cat pilot!” Azisu’s voice cut through the radio in the clear. “Your starmate is dead. Half your mech’s firepower is gone. To succeed in this trial is now beyond your abilities. But honor is satisfied. Cease fire now, and we will allow you to retire without interference.”
Tumblr media
There was a beat, a silence across the canyon, and then, as Azisu watched, the Shadow Cat’s remaining arm pointed into the air. Slowly, the mech began backing down the highway, away from the battlefield.
They’d won.
Azisu keyed her radio.
“Lightning one, lightning two, this is Kabuto Actual. Show is over, return to base. But get on the horn and tell base to get a Tonbo in here. I want this Grendel home ASAP. And, Kabuto Lance? We just out-trialed the Jade Falcon Clan. Drinks are on me tonight.”

[stares at tumblr while shaking my head disapprovingly] they don't even know IRATE's a creature now and that he's in love with Darnold(<- he has not shared any of the IRATE lore outside the re:y2kvr server)
n e ways uhhhh fuckin lore dump
IRATE (ECMS-4-Xen) is a failed prototype for a Black Mesa project, where they were basically trying to make genetically advanced soldiers with Xen DNA. He was the first to actually survive and kept around to be studied to improve upon future generations.
He's a defect due to being tiny and very alien looking with little to no alien abilities aside from shapeshifting.
He was then later stuck together with Benrey due to the two meeting and immediately bonding, Forzen was able to keep Benrey calm and mostly cooperative, so the scientists just said "fuck it" and let them stick together.
Forzen and Benrey are not the same type of Xen creature, but they're very similar.
Then, once the main scientist he was under the care of (Dr. Reece) retired, he was separated more from Benrey and got put through more of the military stuff due to not really having anyone to advocate for him.
Also, he and Dr. Reece do not have a parent-child relationship, while Reece did care about Forzen he didn't see him as his own kid or anything.
He was only there during the ResCas due to the project higher-ups just sending any of the rejects to be death fodder to keep the successful ones alive. He was very much freaking the fuck out during that and just trying to stay alive til he managed to get out.
Once the shit with Gordon happened, he was kept updated by Benrey and only brought in once Darnold (Dr. Right) contacted him due to needing help with Joshua. They became close, but due to Forzen being very much an outsider he more so saw it as just an "oh I'm just helping the Science Team" thing.
Forzen wants to help to prove that he's good, he has a lotta fuckin guilt from being a product of Black Mesa and a very strong moral code. He was created to be nothing more than a weapon, and he doesn't know how to be anything more than that, along with not having any time to adjust or get help for his issues.
Forzen goes into "I have to fix this" mode and tracks down G-Man to make a deal with him to take Freeman's place, though G-Man isn't known for having an honest nature.
The rp and lore stuff has yet to continue, but IRATE now works under G-Man with basically little to no memory of who he was, Freeman is still Freeman and now Darnold is gonna have to figure out what happened and what to do

Hi!! I just reed the last chapter of EMC and by the gods!!! I LOVE IT!! The newspaper format?!? FUCKING AMAZING!!! I do want to ask how you did it? I knew you could do many things in ao3, but that?! You're so creative!!!
🥰🥰🥰
Thank-you so much!! As the texts in ECM would probably suggest, I really love mixing up the narrative with these kinds of things (I did something similar in my other fic, A Permanent Fixture).
I used Work skins and CSS for the formatting - nothing ground-breaking! Just fonts. That and using the H1, H2 and H3 headings in AO3's html. I will not claim anything more than slightly above average skills at this stuff!!
This is the CSS I used for the fonts with the work skin:
#workskin .News-name { font-size: 200%; font-family: Old English Text MT, Copper Plate Gothic Bold, Rockwell Extra Bold, serif; }
#workskin .font-serif { font-family: Georgia, Cambria, Constantia, Palatino, serif; }
Here's AO3s guidance on work skins
Here's a bunch of tutorials on the amazing things you can do with skins!
Honestly it took me ages! Mostly because there was a lot of hit 'preview', check, hit 'edit', change CSS/HTML, rinse and repeat while growing increasingly more irate.
I tried a billion times to do something with the images: I wanted them aligned with the text, but also needed the caption to float with it. However my abilities are relatively limited and AO3's HTML coding is equally limited so in the end I gave up and just added the captions onto the image in paint lmao. Paint these days lets you save with transparencies, which is a nice thing to know! But that's why the font in the captions is big and looks a little funny.
If you want to know how to get text to wrap around an image, then you do this:
<img src="IMAGE URL" alt="TITLE OF YOUR IMAGE" width="x" height="Y" align="right/left" />
(the underlined bit is what you add to put in the alignment)
It's not perfect: the text sticks tightly to the image when it wraps, which is why they're both aligned to the right so it was harder to notice, but it works well enough. I know you can use CSS and work skins to give the image a bit of a border, but by that point I was getting the shits and figured it was good enough lol.
I would note that skins sometimes don't work on things like phones (for instance, on my phone the Old English font doesn't appear for the name of the newspaper)!
Hope this is helpful!

Editors Note: Early on problems developed on one of the engines of aircraft #964. In addition one of the wing walkers on a tow out of the hangar did not notice the wing tip contact the hangar door until it was too late. Oops...I think that troop is still trying to see sunshine. Damage required parts being flown in from Edwards AFB. Even so, #964 did not see much of the action in the Yom Kippur War. My assigned Crew Chief duties at Griffiss AFB was with #979. She flew incredibly perfect, in my book, for these missions knowing that there was no backup aircraft. In all operations, both at Griffiss and Seymour Johnson, #979 flew two-thirds of the ten or eleven hour sorties. She was a Blackbird that was second to none. I was full engine run qualified and before leaving Griffiss there were attempts to run #964 but a full afterburner run was required. As there were no tie-down facilities at Griffiss, a High Speed taxi was ordered. I requested and received the pilot's approval to ride in the back seat on a full afterburner test (successful) on the runway. We never lifted off, but the ride was one hell of a treat for a country boy.
Leland Haynes, Webmaster, SR-71 Blackbirds
Special thanks to A1C Craig Meridith for his flawless contributions as Assistant Crew Chief on this operation.
Editor's Note: There is published in some SR-71 books and articles the following statement: "The Air Force Systems command deployed #955 to Griffiss AFB, New York under the code name "Black Knight". Using the cover story of evaluation of a new Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) suite of sensors Yom Kippur War missions were flown. This is not true. #955 flew into Griffiss in 1975 for the above mentioned evaluations. Mark McKenzie shot these photos of 955 at Griffiss in 1975.
