as far as tips for tumblr (i think im reading that correctly), def start with following people you know from other platforms! i came from ao3 and started by following all the writers i had read so far, for example. then as people reblog others (you GOTTA reblog things on this site, its meant for sharing, not just liking ♡), i go hey! that blogs cool, i'll follow them too. meanwhile i just reblog whatever i like, you dont have to add tags but if its art/writing/etc i always like to. most often the OP sees those and it can add a little boost of serotonin to the day haha.

you could also try searching tags, playing with the filters, and looking for people to follow that way.

and dont be afraid to blog on your blog either. tumblr is def the site to ramble, post random thoughts, or w/e you want. additionally, people generally are cool with you popping in via inbox to say hi or ask questions or offer random thoughts! i would advise against generally spamming or leaving like huge long asks, it tends to get overwhelming on the other side. but popping in from time to time is encouraged, i think ♡

most important is getting your blog set up, at least with an icon, bio, and basic blog theme w/ a few reblogs. that shows people youre a real person so you wont get mistaken for a bot (dont want that, we want you to be able to see the blogs you want to follow!!)

all this being said, you can be as interactive as you want with this site and the people on it. its not a requirement to talk to people or share your creations. many people just have a blog to collect things they like ♡ its up to you!

Hey man I wanted to ask, i am beginner artist and I feel kinda discouraged because i have a smaller acc than I lot of artists, how do you feel like encouraged to draw more stuff about your fandom?(i really love your art and is so inspiring!)

thank u!! first of all, it's awesome that you've decided to start putting yourself out there!! i think motivation can be one of the hardest things to deal with when it comes to making art, & sometimes it feels like u either have it or u don't. but i think it's definitely possible to improve in some ways!

i think the most important rule of trying to motivate urself is, when motivation/inspiration hits you, DON’T WASTE IT. if you think to yourself, “hmm, it would be fun to draw right now… but it would be easier to keep scrolling on my phone” do your best to actually go draw!! i’m not gonna tell u to skip, like, ur homework for art (although i totally do that) bcz u should do ur homework. but when the urge hits u, don’t let it go!! u gotta ride that wave as far as it’ll take you.

obviously sometimes motivation will hit you at times when you’re in a situation where you totally can’t sit down and draw. like it’s 3am and you really should’ve been sleeping 5 hours ago, but u just got a super cool idea for a drawing or a comic or something. if that happens, i’m not saying to actually sit down & draw right then, but you absolutely should write your idea down while the idea is still fresh!! it’s easy to forget small things or even the whole idea if you wait for later. plus, when you revisit what you've written down, you might find yourself having ideas of how you could make it even better.

one thing that’s kind of unfortunate about making art is that, yeah, external motivation is a big part of motivating yourself to make art (at least it is for me). BUT you definitely don’t need to have thousands of followers to get nice feedback on your art. i mean, you could just show it to an irl friend who likes the show/book/etc that you’re drawing for too. hell, you could show it to ur mom

but to put yourself out there online, uhh my advice is to

make art that’s interesting in some way. (character interactions are often more interesting to ppl than solo character art, for one; uhh, comics are super super super fun although i personally felt intimidated by them at first; in general, trying to give ur audience some kind of emotional response to ur art--whether it's "aw so cute" or funny or angsty--is good.)

participate in fandom events (like ship weeks, big bangs, etc). at the very least, ur art gets reblogged to a bigger blog that can get you some exposure. and you might make some friends!

try to connect w/ other content creators—go compliment cool art! send nice asks! make gift art for fanfics u really like!

look for some fandom discords with nice ppl

post ur stuff on multiple social medias

i personally spent like 3 years on tumblr just kinda tossing my art into the void before i actually started gaining a significant amount of followers lol so i’m not exactly a social media guru but i think those are some good places to start.

also, NEVER BE DISCOURAGED BY UR OWN ART!!!!! sometimes it happens when you'll look at ur art and be like "holy bejeezus i suck at art" and like, it's inevitable that it happens occasionally, but u gotta avoid that as much as u possibly can. practice positive self-talk--be like "aw fuck yeah i love how i drew that hair" or smth to yourself. bad self-esteem will kill your motivation & your fun.

(it's worth keeping in mind that oftentimes, if u feel like ur art is "getting worse," that's literally just your eye for art developing and learning to recognize flaws that you're about to fix--a good sign, not a bad one. your hands will catch up to your eyes in time.)

oh and DONT be afraid of posting little sketches or unfinished doodles that arent that fancy...... thats something i struggle with lol i always feel like "if my art isnt perfectly cleaned up and shaded then whats the point :(" but whenever i see someone else's cute little sketch on my dash im always like omg thats so cool. doing this is also good because if you don't feel obligated to put tons and tons of effort into each piece, you'll have an easier time creating lots of art which ultimately helps u improve way faster

lastly i uhhh really strongly recommend against doing that thing that some beginner artists do where you're feeling insecure about your art and, in anticipation that people will hate it, you say something like "haha yeah i know it sucks" in the caption/tags to sort of insulate yourself from criticism. cuz like, most ppl are not little loser bitches who go around insulting random ppl's art, and besides if you do encounter people like that, u can just block em. more importantly, a lot of people do find such captions kind of off-putting/guilt-trippy, so it's bad for growing ur audience, and it's also harmful to you as well, because you're verbalizing your insecurities (& thus intensifying them). just own it. you don't need to apologize for "imperfect" art. it happens, & it's totally okay.

Hi lovelies! I’ve been getting so many requests & I’m working hard to get all of them in the queue. Thanks for sending them my way! I’m writing to let you know that the queue is now full until the end of June. I was able to get every requests from my May 8th post in there except for a few. So it is not an issue with CGI “enhanced” celebrities but for Cats it is because I do not have a Furry fetish and I get uncomfortable thinking about writing caps for it. But I write caps with “manips” all the time (photoshopped images of celebs) so I’m not ruling out CGI enhanced celebs all together.

How about instead of removing the captions with Demi in them ,the images of Demi were just replaced with another celeb and if Demi is mentioned by name in the caption then that could be edited  to mention a different celeb. I respect Demi's decision I do but lets not lose some well made captions. So about the Demi Lovato captions: I understand your feelings but I’m still going to delete the original captions. Because of how my captions are made I can’t just go back in & swap out an image or edit the text, I have to remake it from the ground up. I am hoping to do that with some (maybe all) of the Demi Lovato captions & re-publish them, but I’m still going to delete the originals.

I can do the Kristen Stewart one for sure and I’ll TRY to do the Amy Adams one I just am not 100% sure I can find a pic for that but we’ll see. :)

SCREAMS I don’t know!!!! I’ve been thinking about this ask since getting it I have genuinely zero clue I love all arcs so much for so many different reasons!!!!! The first that comes to mind when I think about it is the workshop battle arc, because I love Viole with everything I have and the whole arc (plus the build up to it too!!) hurts in the most wonderful way, but then I keep thinking about it and I realize there’s so many character I live for that don’t appear in it - I love the floor of death arc SO MUCH cause for one, there’s nearly all my favorite characters in it, and also because it’s such a good, dynamic arc?? everything that happens is so much fun and interesting?? also Hockney is there, and Urek is there, and Garam is there, and the Hell Train gang is all there, so!! AH and the hell train as a whole is so damn good (the dallar show???? my whole soul rests in there, Khun’s trust in Bam!! the coin flip with rachel!! Bam’s whole everything!!!!!!!! GAH) but my fav part of it has to be the hidden floor?? because!!!!!! it’s perfect from start to end, everyone in it is wonderful, Bam’s growth in it!!! GODS! My favorite scene in the whole webtoon is in the hidden floor arc, it’s how much I love it - THEN THERE’S YAMA and the whole arc there is so so SO good too, and the latest arc!! how good is the latest arc!!!!!

so yeah I can’t pick - art wise I think it goes without saying that SIU’s art has only gotten better, so the closest to the newest update you go the more I like the art.... though, my favorite Bam is still the short haired one from the Hell Train arc haha

Maybe you should’ve noticed how the first years had started getting the balls together, or how the net was being taken down. Maybe even the fact that those ridiculous muscles seemed to be moving closer. “Y/n- you’re staring”

“Your bicep is the size of my head” you muttered mindlessly and an arm wrapped around your shoulders. “I know right? I’ve been asking him to drop the workout routine” Oikawa whined from next to you as you both stood there looking at Iwa. “He’s keeping all that for himself? Pff couldn’t be me” you agreed with oikawa.

At this point Iwa lifted your chin up with his fingers so you were looking at him. “Maybe.. you could give me a kiss instead of undressing me with your eyes” he said and slapped Oikawas arm off your shoulder. Standing on your tiptoes you placed a peck on his lips before motioning towards the locker room. “Get dressed so we can go” He pecked the top of your head before hurrying away to get changed.

“Hey Haji...” you said as you were walking home. Anxiety was pulsing through your veins and you looked up at the sky. Iwa hummed next to you and swung your intertwined hands softly. “I really would like your workout routine,,, and maybe a diet plan?” You said carefully, still gazing up at the stars. As you kept walking a soft tug on your hand made you stop and look at Iwa. “Babe..you hate working out...not to mention the diet plan.. why are you asking for this?” Concerned green eyes met yours and you couldn’t look away. “Well it’s not like I care that much...but uhm.. today at lunch... yuki was talking about uhm..how her boyfriend would always give her piggyback rides and.. you know stuff..” you faced the ground and kicked at some rocks with your feet. “I don’t blame you or anything I’m pretty chubby I wouldn’t be able to carry myself either, but I thought that uhm..maybe I could do with eating a bit less and working out you know..” A chuckle was the last thing you expected to hear and you whipped your head up to look at your boyfriend. “You want to lose weight? So I’ll carry you?” Iwa said with a big grin stretched across his face. A pout formed on your face as you muttered “Well.. when you say it like that it sounds ridiculous but I guess that’s it yeah..” This times it wasn’t a chuckle..he was really laughing at you. Huffing you turned away from him, but you didn’t get to whine for a long time before Hajime had thrown you over his shoulder. “You’re not too heavy, you’re perfect just like this. Besides who’s the one always talking about my arms?” “Iwaizumi Hajime this is not romantic at all my head is supposed to be on your shoulder- not my ass” you whined and lightly hit his back. He laughed and put you down to pick you up bridal style. “Ohhh I love it when you wrap your big boy arms around me” he looked down at you with a grin and pecked your forehead. “That’s my baby. Now don’t go having silly thoughts about losing weight. If you gain more weight I’ll just gain more muscles so I’ll be able to carry you around.”

The sound of laughter echoed down the street as you walked under the bright stars.

Yamaguchi:

The soft sound of Tadashis heart beating had somehow managed to calm you down. Not only was school stressing you out but your own thoughts about your body too. Tadashi was running his fingers through your hair and giving you the occasional peck on top of your head.

“Dashi? You love me right?” Turning your head to face him as you waited for his answer. He cupped your cheek with his hand and softly brushed his thumb across your skin. “More than anything, I thought you knew that” he said with a small smile. He sounded so confident when he said it but the blush on his cheeks was exposing him. When you leaned up to place a peck on his lips you felt him shift under you. His hand grabbed one of your thighs and moved it so that you were straddling him. Adjusting to this new position you were careful not to put any of your weight on him as you carefully pecked each of his freckles. “I love you too” the sound of your voice against his cheek sent shivers down Yamaguchis spine and he placed his hands on your waist, tugging you down so that you would sit on him. This time however you didn’t let him, you didn’t want to place your weight on him so even as he tugged you down you didn’t budge. “Dashi I’ll break you if I sit on you give up” you sighed against his lips before pecking them again. You were gonna continue the soft kissing but Yamaguchi suddenly sat up, which by default made you fall to sit on his lap. With your legs on each side of him and your chest pressing firmly against yours chest he wrapped his arms tightly around you and laid down again. Since your arms were confined inside his embrace you couldn’t use them to hold yourself up. “Dashi- cmon you don-“ before you got to finish your sentence his lips had met with yours in a kiss that was filled with his pure love and affection towards you. “Don’t say stuff like that, you won’t break me by sitting on my lap. I’m not that weak y/n” “I didn’t mean to call you weak it’s more my fault if anything” you tried to argue back but he quickly shut you up with another kiss. “You’re perfect and you’ll always be perfect regardless of your weight or height or anything” his cheeks that would so quickly betray his confidence didn’t show the smallest hue of red. You had never seen him look more determined before, not even when it came to volleyball. Before you could stop it tears were welling up in your eyes. You really loved your green haired boyfriend, and he really loved you regardless of what anyone else said. Yamaguchi flipped you guys over and peppered kisses all over your face. “Whenever you insult yourself I’ll give you a kiss, to remind you you’re perfect” he said between kisses.

Yamaguchi heard the door to the gym open and he turned to face you. “Dashi I miss you” you pouted. Out of all the times you could’ve walked in you managed to walk in right on the break, which meant the whole team was now looking at you you guys. You smirked teasingly at your boyfriends blushing face. “Dashi this uniform makes me look fat” you whined and immediately your boyfriend was cutely stomping over. He leaned down to kiss you and you happily kissed him back. As soon as he pulled away you grinned up at him. “alright I got what I wanted, I’ll see you later Dashi” He looked at you confused and you didn’t even have to turn around to know he was blushing when the team started screaming.

Kenma:

To others it might seem weird to see someone having a staring competition with a bento box. To Kenma, this wasn’t weirdest thing you’d done. His cat like eyes followed your every moment as you slowly opened up the sad excuse of a bento box. There couldn’t have been enough food to feed a middle schooler in there. “Listen I know I’m a bit chubby...but there isn’t enough food in here to even feed a middle schooler.” You complained and leaned back on your chair. Kuroos laugh echoed in the empty classroom and the two of you fell into one of your usual bickering. Kenma paused his game to eat but he could only focus on you. Honestly Kenma didn’t want you to lose weight, he loved you just as you were. He loved the way your cheeks puffed out when you were eating,, and even when you weren’t. He loved your plum tummy that he could always lay his head on. He loved your thighs and your arms and the way they wrapped around him when you didn’t want to get up from the bed in the morning. Kenma couldn’t see why everyone kept pushing you to lose weight. As you kept bickering playfully with kuroo, Kenma laid his head down on your lap and tugged at one of your arms to get your attention. “You can eat my bento, but if you don’t start eating now the bell is gonna ring and lunch will be over.” The look on your face was that of a puppie who’s excited to go on a walk. The way your eyes were almost sparkling as you looked at Kenma, had the blood rushing to his cheeks. “I’ll start losing weight another day” you grinned happily as you opened Kenmas bento. “It’s not like you have to lose weight” he muttered and sat up to eat. “Hmm you’re right,, why should I lose weight if I don’t want to” picking some rice up on your chopsticks you turned to Kenma to feed him. He started eating and got some food up with his own chopsticks, this time to feed you. “I like you like this” he said as he fed you. Your head tilted slightly to the side in confusion “fat?” The corners of his mouth tugged upwards as he flicked your forehead. “Happy. I like you happy. Regardless of your weight, as long as you’re happy its fine.” Kenmas smile grew wider when he saw your puffy cheeks, those adorable puffy cheeks shine bright red in the empty classroom. After a moment of comfortable silence you spoke up. “Huh where’d rooster boy go?” Kenma shrugged and kept eating the food.

“Okay but what if I was the size of a beluga whale?” “You wouldn’t b-“ “bUt what if Kenma? Would you still love me?” From the second the door to Kenmas room had closed you had started asking him about different animals. 1 hour later and you were laying on his bed, Kenma playing games while you kept asking him questions. That’s when Kenma had enough. He lightly pushed your head down onto the pillow before grabbing the covers to wrap you both up. “Let’s take a nap” he sighed and cuddled up to you. “Kenma you have volley-“ you didn’t get to finish before he groaned and sat up slightly, leaning on his elbow. He leaned over towards you and kissed your lips quickly before laying down again.

“One. I would love you if you were as big as any animal in this whole planet so stop asking. Two I’m skipping practice today and three I love you the most when you’re quiet and take naps with me so..” he closed his eyes and waited for you to cuddle up to him. “Alright alright lets take a nap, I love you too” you said as you laid your head on his chest and got ready to probably sleep until the next day.

Roughly, how long have I been following this blog? Well I found that piece shortly after it was posted so…. Around the beginning of December 2019 I think. Got a tumblr a few months later and you were the first person I followed (had you in my bookmarks bar before that! What’s something I’ve noticed about you personality wise? You’re really clever and funny. But you’re also sweet. But because you’re clever you have no hesitation in setting up and enforcing your boundaries, and I really admire that strength and confidence.

What’s my favorite story of yours? Oh how to choose. Firstly, I’m a nb, biracial, bisexual. Honey, I’ve never made a choice in my life. But let’s try here. Anything you’ve written for Tsukki. Literally all of it is gold. Fight me. I was going to write “especially [piece title]” but I LITERALLY CANNOT CHOOSE ONE. Your Bokuto nightmare piece. Your Kuroo angsty fight. Your Tendou dealing with S/O with parents who yell piece. Your Kinktobers. Your Futakuchi and Mattsun pieces. And your Terushima pieces. Ugh. I CANNOT CHOOSE. OH AND YOUR STREAMER KENMA!!!!!! OKay just… all of it. I can’t choose. I tried, and I failed, and I’m willing to admit failure.

What’s a story I’d love to see you write? I don’t want to say this… because it hurts me… but I just KNOW you’d write brilliant angst. Some of my fav pieces of yours are pained beginnings with happy endings. That fight with Tsukki after a bad day at work. The pieces I mentioned above (nightmare pieces and fighting pieces and angsty home life ha.. ha.ha.ha.). That Oikawa one where the reader wakes up in bed without him and thinks he left. You write these gorgeous atmospheres and descriptive, visceral feelings, and if you chose to use it for evil…. You could get evil shit done. You’re SO powerful. So I want to read it… but also…. I don’t. I’d love to see you write ABO like you mentioned a while back or just see you explore a cutesy soulmate AU or something. I think you’d be really good at writing an AU where you hear what the other person’s listening too. I feel like you’d be so good at making me feel something for someone who was in another city. (think this would be cute with Tsukki cos he’s headphones boy, OR terushima because I like the dynamic of someone flirty, who clearly cares about looks, falling for someone he can’t see) ANYWAY….

Favorite pairing you write for?/fav reader insert? Tsukishima x reader. It’s my fav self-ship. (but also Mattsun, Bokuto, Oikawa, Tanaka, and Akaashi because you write them SO WELL!!!!)

Have any of your stories helped me through a hard time? Of course. Your self-harm piece came at a time I needed it. Iwaizumi’s in particular saved my life. But also your Tendou dealing with S/O parents who fight… came right when I needed it. Also starting college… was hard.. And reading and rereading your fluff really pulled me through it.

Do I genuinely like your blog, it’s aesthetic or posts? It’s overall feel? It’s content? Yes. The aesthetic is, ngl, a wee bit basic. But I kinda love that. And the feel? It feels like home. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Your blog is my safe space. So, yes, I love. It’s content? YES. OF COURSE. Your personality probably could have kept me here even if your content was kinda shit, but I follow you RELIGIOUSLY because of your content. So yes. I adore.

Is English my first language? Kinda??? I grew up in a trilingual household so I kinda learned three languages at the same time while growing up. But no, I don’t need to translate it in my head. Because English was one of the three.

Anything I want to share? Yes. Please keep being kind to yourself, caring for your mental health, enforcing your boundaries, loving Akaashi, and just generally being you. You’re so lovely as you are, and I hope you continue grow, but never change. Also I’m sorry about all your work stuff…. It literally makes me feel sick. And I hope you find a job where that’s not tolerated, or that your work finds a better way of protecting it’s employees. I know you know this, but none of it is your fault. As y’all know for my religion major I have a concentration in religious art and I did a research project last year on angels in Christian artwork and I found this artist from the early 1900s who I really loved who did a LOT of gorgeous angels and he studied old Byzantine icons and repainted them in his youth he’s just a cool guy and I love the color palate of this one a lot!!!! so 'why haven't u been active?' is a pretty basic popular question i receive on a daily basis.

it's valid though.

so is my simple answer of 'mental health'.

it's hard for me to go in depth about some of my issues simply bc they r painful, sensitive, n often taboo topics. who wants to talk about self harm n suicide n vomiting when you think of certain people?

answer: no one, bitch!🎉 that's why i want to, that's why i push myself to be open about it on this blog. i want there to be authentic mental health awareness and i want people to feel supported with their own individual issues. okay? that's why i share. not for attention (haha a special fuck u to the dude calling me an attention whore😜).

anywho, my periods have been triggering some nasty shit. like apocalyptic NASTY shit. for a FULL 2 weeks b4 any bleeding even thinks about starting, i can feel an extreme shift of emotions. my body gets so sore and sensitive (not in a fun way either). i get nauseous and then get overrun with cravings till i eat so much i wanna vomit it all back up. it's all such a grand process.👌 i've wondered about having "pmdd" (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) but i'm not sure tbh. all in all, that means more then half of every month is guaranteed to be a complete shit show that i can't help. God such a cheerful outlook. 🌈 :')

this month wasn't an exception unfortunately. but this time, i found myself feeling unsafe when i was alone...like i fully expected myself to hurt or kill my own body. not cool.

one night i just started scratching my legs for no FUCKING reason. with acrylics u don't tear skin - u make bruises instead. 👇 i attached some pics below bc i wanted to share with some of my followers who currently self harm - ur not alone in this battle and self harm comes in sooooo many different forms. it's not always a knife to a wrist. and u shouldn't only seek help if there's blood involved - protect ur body and ur mind.

needless to say i don't wear shorts anymore to avoid the well-meaning, prying questions of "does your boyfriend abuse you?"

seeing these bruises when i woke up was a bit of a shock... i had to admit to myself that i wasn't safe to be around. imagine looking in the mirror n telling urself that. heart breaks a little, right?

i haven't exercised or eaten well in several weeks. not since February 14th. funny how one can remember the exact moment and day they felt themselves starting to fall apart all over again.

i continue to see my therapist on a (mostly) weekly basis tho i have about 3 more sessions till i'll be paying completely out of pocket for the appointments, if i wish to continue. tough choice. 👍💸

today i met with a new doctor to discuss getting blood work done for hormone imbalances, also scheduled an ultrasound of certain glands that could affect me mentally, and after receiving my results i'll consider some different birth control options that could potentially regulate my progesterone & estrogen levels that i'm guessing r reallyyy out of line. i'm fighting very hard for my mental health rn even if it doesn't look like it. my previous doctor was a white male in his 50s and labeled any problems i had as 'typical female issues', or my personal fav: 'puberty'. so cliche it's almost laughable hahahaaaaaaa. :'D now i'm fuckin thrilled to finally have a doctor who's my advocate and genuinely wants to figure out what's going on in this crazy body!! yayy.

some of u have asked if i've been keeping up with my vitamin D (no this isn't a penis joke), since a deficiency is typically related to minor depression, and i wanted to reassure u that i do - along w about 9 other vitamins/supplements on a daily basis 😂 my most recent addition to the pill casserole is "Vitex", a natural hormone balancer. i'm curious to see if it will help n let me know if ya'll have ever tried it b4 too🙏 apparently it's been used to reduce male libido n i'm like, bitch if it lowers my sex drive then that's a plus. :'D cure my inner attention whore lmaoooo.

welp, i'm done with my whine fest. on a muchhhhhh happier note....

i did end up getting a 2nd cat @ the local shelter's adoption event and she was FREE like O.M.G🙀 i named the adorable fluff of hair "Beau".💔 yep, after my fav poet Beau Taplin. goddamn i'm such a softie.

↳ hugs are rare for him to give, but if you give them he feels his walls falling more and more each time. his hugs are extremely warm and light, but it’s the best feeling.

↳ he doubts himself too much. he doubts why you’re with him sometimes. he feels like there are so many other people out there that are perfect for you, so why him?

sloane was born to pepper liu and dinah jennings, lesbian activist icons of their day who mostly lived by allowing the wind to move them. they made friends everywhere and for the first years of sloane’s life, they bring her with them everywhere

eventually, pepper and dinah settle down and decide to live somewhere permanent for sloane’s sake and so she could go to school somewhere. they decide on san francisco, california, a city that’s near and dear to them. unfortunately, they die in a fire before sloane can ever start school

after that, sloane is sort of passed around old friends of pepper and dinah, a series of unfortunate events style. the key difference however is that there is never any doubt that sloane is so deeply loved. everywhere she goes, she’s always well taken care of

they always tell her stories of her mothers and it’s never a case of sloane feeling abandoned or like she’s been struck with bad luck just because she’s raised so well

in high school, she does a million extracurriculars. she tries water polo for a little bit, she was in a band for the last two years of high school, she literally does SO much community service, she tries everything because she’s genuinely interested in everything

most of her motivation for college was because of her mothers’ desire for her to do something good with herself because otherwise she never would have gone but she applied and she got into strathmore! 

on the society: she honestly never even knew about the society until she got the invitation because it’s just not something that would be on her radar, but now that she’s in it, she sees how much good it can do for her. that doesn’t mean she takes it as seriously as other people do but she’ll go along with all their bells and whistles.

a lot of my inspiration for sloane comes from the concept of angels doing unholy things and this post in particular, not every single bullet point, but you get the gist.

i think sloane’s most defining character trait is her ability to adapt. her mothers were never able to stay in one place for very long making friends everywhere they went, and so all of sloane’s guardians came from everywhere. she was raised with a tremendous amount of care and love just because dinah and pepper were so loved, so moving around was never that much of an issue. she’s always been able to make the best of her situation and has always found ways to make homes no matter what city or town she’s in.

one of the things about sloane is that she’s never been alone. she was orphaned before the age of ten, but the friends of her mothers have taken a lot of care in making sure that she’s never felt lonely. relying on people and having a sense of community is so essential for sloane wherever she goes. it’s one of the few things she appreciates in the society.

going off on that, people have looked out for sloane her entire life and i think that’s a large part of the reason why she chose her major. it was important for her to do something that would allow her to serve her community and improve it. she’s never really cared that much about fame or wealth or whatever, but she’s always cared about people and doing good by them. a lot of her upbringing was about making do, making your voice heard, standing by your people and these are lessons she carries with her everywhere

just another thing to say that i do think the way she was raised has made her more trusting of people in general and can make her a little naive because she operates under the assumption that, more often than not, people look out for others when that isn’t always the case

that isn’t to say that she doesn’t know how to be alone, however, because she does and she’s honestly really good at being alone. people in her life made sure she knew she wasn’t alone and sloane has always been very aware of that, but the fact still stands that she’s an orphan. sloane has always been content with being on her own. even if she stayed with people who had kids her own age, she of course made fast friends with them but would also spend a lot of time on her own just because she is a little strange. 

i do think there’s a sort of scrappy charm to sloane. she isn’t rough around the edges but she isn’t all prim and proper either. there’s something very weathered about the way she carries herself, like she’s already seen the whole world and experienced so much. and in a lot of ways, she has tbh

i guess one of the other things is she’s sort of… strange? in the most approachable way possible. sloane truly walks to the beat of her own drum and does whatever she likes but the fact that she’s so unapologetic about it and so open about it makes it easier to befriend her. strange in the sense that she’s superstitious, doesn’t really have a filter, and generally doesn’t follow trends of any sort. like i hate typing that because i don’t mean for her to be a ‘i was born in the wrong generation’ type of girl but i just think she can be a little intense sometimes LMAO

i know i’m circling back, but i think a large part of why she’s so adaptable is because she doesn’t do much changing between places. like her core is unwavering and she makes space for herself, but she knows how to read people and that is what changes. the way she treats and interacts with people changes based on how she sizes them up and she’s pretty good at sizing people up so they tend to feel more comfortable with her

despite sloane being unapologetic about her life, i do think she tends to be more on the private side. like yeah, she doesn’t hide anything about the way she acts and doesn’t water herself down for people but it’s rare for her to talk about herself for too long. she’s more likely to ask people questions during a conversation and ask about them without really giving anything away herself

headcanons.

has been smoking cigarettes since she was super young after she stole a pack from her guardian at the time at the age of 12, is most definitely going to die of lung cancer

she used to play bass in her band in high school because she’s cool and sexy

superstitious. avoids cracks on the sidewalk, throws salt over her left shoulder, carries a rabbit’s foot, the whole deal

kids love sloane. they always have. even babies always take a liking to her even if she’s a stranger. the one who can always get the fussy baby to calm down and sleep

loves abba!!!! mamma mia is her dream broadway show like it feels like something she would come up with

always fidgeting or shaking her leg or playing with her hair, like literally cannot sit still for the life of her and has always been super restless

so extremely punctual that it surprises most people. sloane seems like the type to always be late to things but quality time is her love language, so she always always shows up to things on time because she never wants to miss out. this is more about her seeing people, but it does carry over to other commitments because time is so precious to her

spends a lot of her time doing community service. she believes in helping people okay! every winter, she cleans out her closet as best she can and hands out coats or blankets to people on the streets. even if she’s never had much, this is pretty important for her. she almost always tries to spare some change when she sees homeless people. 

she volunteers at the hospital because she’s a health major but she also just loves hanging out with the babies

her favorite picture is of she and her mothers at a protest when she was five years old. she’s sitting on pepper’s shoulders and she’s missing a tooth. dinah’s kissing pepper on the cheek, and they all just look so happy. 

she’s got three piercings on each ear and a cartilage piercing in her left ear; she loves jewelry and earrings and changes them frequently

she wears whatever she wants or whatever’s comfortable; like it honestly just depends on her mood but she DOES wear her docs often and with anything she can think of because they’re her favorite pair of shoes
