okay actually wait if all of your ocs got to make their own fursonas what would they want to be
Seren: Gut instinct would be bat but if she thought about it I think "Xolo dog in a wig" would be an acceptable conclusion
Jack: Pirate leopard. Jack is not a pirate character anymore, but he wants to be, and thus her fursona would be a pirate
Jezebel: Tabby cat. She's thought about it
Angie: Doesn't know what a "fursona" is. Young Angie would say something like German shepherd, middle-aged Angie would say wild horse. Also possibly eagle. If she's an eagle, then she would make Lune a snake (cuz, yknow, he's Mexican? It works. Trust me)
Lune: Also doesn't know what a fursona is but nevertheless has thought about it and would definitely say bat. If he assigned Angie a fursona he would make her a bull (as he's the matador)
Jo: Her fantasy setting involves a "spark", which is an animal you can maaaybe turn into if you're good enough at magic (she's not) and which is basically just your fursona. Definitely a dog, somewhere between a hound dog and a pariah dog. Cattle dog is lame, cattle dog is tired, she would NOT be a cattle dog, she was raised on a chicken farm. She loves fish but she wouldn't be a fish. She's a dog that fishes
Eleanor: Siberian lynx. She's good enough at magic to be able to actually turn into it for shortish periods of time
Gus: Dragon, duh, it's his spark, and he's probably the character most likely to ACTUALLY have a fursona in the traditional sense, as I think he likes to draw cartoons when not doing one of the five billion other jobs and hobbies I write him as having. He can kiiiind of turn into his spark, but not the big fancy dragon he likes to draw. Just like a really shitty small lizard
Mick Venus: I had the very vivid mental image of some kind of snake in an 80s hair metal wig and that's it. That's his fursona

Period drama week 2023-
Day 4: Favourite time period/era
Has to be Georgian (1714-1830) probably more the regency era if I had to narrow it down. Lots of favourite Georgian programmes from then but also books and general historical interest. It's got that age of empire romanticism (granted not a very nice time for 'the savages' being 'enlightened' by the empire, to put it mildly, but good from a fictional point of view).
Outrageous fashion, beautiful architecture, romantic dancing, a cultural yearning for the pursuit of knowledge and art, a class system that was rigid in its roles yet traversable through hard work/luck/marriage/dastardly doings, whispers of war and revolution creating characters that are handsomely heroes/lovable rogues/cutthroat villans mixing with those from small country towns with no outside communication that are adorably nieve...
What is there not to love!?

63. Eleanor Rigby — Cody Fry
(Eleanor Rigby) Waits at the window Wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door Who is it for? Father McKenzie Writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear No one comes near Look at him working Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there What does he care?
So I kept running into this problem where someone would pick a song, and I would get so excited to finally draw something for that specific part of whoever’s story the song is supposed to represent that I would draw a million things for it instead of the like. one doodle or whatever I’m supposed to do for this challenge
That being said, this song is on DBHC Etho's playlist, representing the journey from Etho's reset Post-Destruction all the way up to the moment he re-deviates (though he doesn't let it show) <3 Cody Fry's take on this song and his orchestral arrangement is just heartwrenching /pos and I absolutely recommend you give it a listen! :]
I feel like this song also does a good job at representing a glimpse of bdubs' side of this arc... his longing and sorrow as he waits and waits and waits for his friend to come back to him, to no avail. I'm so very normal about Etho's Season 9 arc <shaking

Hey Anusia 👋
Love your work and love your voice acting which btw has been stellar
I have a weird question 👀
If The Magnus Protocol ever hypothetically became a hit tv series, who would you want to play Gwen other than you?
Thank you so much! 😊
Not weird at all! This is actually a really interesting question, and I've been pondering it for a bit since it popped up in my inbox.
So, here's my answer that I didn't realise felt obvious until I had the thought:
Amanda Seyfried. Anyone who has seen The Dropout will hopefully understand why.
Honourable mentions to Elle Fanning, Florence Pugh, Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Eleanor Tomlinson, and Emma Corrin.
I'll stop before I just start listing my favourite actors. :P

♫⋆。 Beatles Fact: In the song ‘Eleanor Rigby’, Father McKenzie was originally going to be called ‘Father McCartney’, however Paul McCartney did not like this as it sounded too similar to his father. John Lennon believed it would be fine, however Paul was insistent on changing the name. They looked through a phone book, underneath the name ‘McCartney’ and found ‘McKenzie’, Paul instantly liked the name, and used it in his song. This created the iconic character we know of today.

No One Was Saved | Chapter 2
(The Year Everything Flipped Upside Down Masterlist)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
—Eleanor Rigby Died in the church and was buried along with her name Nobody came Father McKenzie Wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave No one was saved— -The Beatles
Y/n was sitting in the lunchroom waiting for Chrissy to show up, she had made it known that she needed to tell Y/n something so here she waited, in the lunchroom. But no Chrissy. None of the cheer girls had seen her, so they were no help. Jason was her last resort. She didn’t necessarily like talking to him, but when she had to, she had to. She walked over to Jason’s table, it was all the basketball players.
“Hey! Jason!” she spoke as she got close to their table, he hummed as he looked up.
“Oh, it’s you.” he looked disappointed.
“What, not the person you wanna see?” Y/n questioned.
“Not particularly.”
“Dido, now, do you happen to know where Chrissy is?” She questioned, crossing her arms across her chest.
“No, why would I know?”
“Because she’s your girlfriend.” she shrugged.
“No, sorry princess, I don’t know.”
Y/n rolled her eyes getting ready to walk away when a voice from across the room called out. “As long as you’re into band or science…” Eddie Munson. “Or parties.” standing on a table, once again making himself known. “Or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets!”
Y/n’s eyebrows were raised as she watched the 20 year old man -who was still in highschool- with the long curly hair, his black jeans, his leather jacket with a jean vest above it, and of course who could forget his Hellfire t-shirt. Hellfire: a Dungeons and Dragons club, that Eddie was like the leader of, Y/n didn’t know much about the game except that it was a fantasy role-play game. To be honest she was quite intrigued by it, Y/n always thought about learning more about the game that others called a ‘satanic ritual’. That was all bullshit though and she knew it.
“You want something, freak.” Jason stood up, he was so defensive, so willing to stir the pot. Eddie’s response to Jason was to imitate a demon, his pointer fingers pointing up on his head, his tongue stuck out and he made growling demon-like sounds. Eddie smiled as Jason pulled a disgusted face, it wasn’t until Eddie locked eyes with Y/n (who was still standing next to Jason) she noticed the side of her lips were turning up. She immediately forced her face back into a neutral expression, but Eddie had already seen it.
He turned around on the table, “it’s forced conforming. That’s what’s killing the kids.” he stepped off the table as he shouted, scaring a group of girls that were passing his table. He saw a pair of cheerleaders and motioned for them to walk past him. “That’s the real monster.” this time he spoke much lower.
When Y/n realized she was staring she turned and walked out of the lunch room, frustrated and concerned, where the hell is Chrissy? She continued her search, Y/n had a free period for next class and so did Chrissy so she continued to look for her blonde friend. Not twenty minutes later she walked outside because some people ate outside on the picnic benches, that’s when she saw Chrissy.
“Hey, Chrissy!” she shouted as she ran over to her friend. “I was looking for you everywhere. I thought we agreed to meet in the lunchroom.”
“Oh-” Chrissy flinched as Y/n rested her hand on her shoulder. “Uh, yeah, I just got distracted.”
“Are you okay?” Y/n asked slowly, removing her hand from the girl's shoulder.
The blonde nodded, “Yeah I just want to talk to you.”
“Yeah, okay.” Y/n nodded as she walked with Chrissy towards the football field. “What’s going on?”
“I- uh-” she trailed off.
“You can tell me anything, you know that right?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“Okay, then what’s going on?”
“I feel like I’m going crazy.” Chrissy rushed out.
“Don’t we all?”
“No like, I’ve been getting nightmares and headaches and bloody noses…” she trailed off. “I’ve been seeing things.”
“What kind of things?”
“You’re going to think I’m going insane.”
“I promise I won’t, to be honest, I’ve been getting headaches and bloody noses. I had a headache today. I could barely see.”
“Okay… today in the bathroom it was my mom, talking about a dress and then her feet, they-they were like I don’t even know how to explain it… not human.” Y/n nodded. “The lights flickered, the voice was so scary.”
“Wait- did you say the lights flickered?” Y/n stopped her.
“Yeah…” Y/n nodded and continued walking.
“So, where are we going?”
“To the woods, I’m meeting with Eddie Munson.”
“Wait- why?”
“To see if he has anything that can help.”
“Are you sure drugs are the answer?”
“I’m willing to do anything that can help.” Y/n nodded at her friend as they made their way across the field and behind the gate. As they were walking through the forest they came upon an old picnic table that was littered with cans and other trash. Y/n climbed onto the bench sitting on the table when she turned she saw Chrissy facing a tree.
“Chrissy?” Y/n questioned, the blonde didn’t turn around, she just started to back up. Y/n stood up stepping towards her friend, until another body crashed into Chrissy making her scream.
“Whoa, hey, hey, hey.” It was Eddie, “sorry.” he chuckled, “didn’t mean to scare you.” Chrissy looked like she had seen a ghost. “You okay?”
Chrissy looked towards the tree again, “Chrissy?” Y/n called, that’s when Eddie noticed her. Y/n stepped forward, calling out once more, before she could reach out to her friend she quickly turned around and put on a false smile.
Eddie waved his lunch box and walked toward the table, the two girls following, Y/n kept trying to meet Chrissy’s eyes but her head remained low. Once they two were seated Eddie took off his leather jacket and tossed it on the table. He eyed Chrissy who looked pretty shaken, “There’s uh- nothin’ to worry about. Okay? No one comes out here.” he tried to reassure Chrissy. “You’re safe.”
Once he was seated he flipped open his lunch box, “I promise.” his stupid lunch box that didn’t house food but instead housed drugs. He put his arm on the table resting his chin on his hand. “So, how does this work, exactly?” Chrissy asked.
To be honest Y/n had no idea why she was here, she just kinda sat there awkwardly by Chrissy’s side. “Aw, just like any other old sale, except, cash only, and for obvious reasons, no receipts.” Eddie explained.
“I’ll do you a half ounce for uh, twenty. What do you say? Plenty bang for your buck. Should last you a while.” Eddie held up a plastic baggy, there was a snap of a branch behind the girls and as Chrissy gasped and turned, Y/n raised an eyebrow. Something was going on.
“Hey, uh, we don’t need to do this, just give me the word and I’ll walk away. Okay?”
“It’s not that. I don’t want you to go.” Chrissy stopped the man who started to close up his lunch box. “It’s just- do you ever feel like you're losing your mind?”
Eddie cocked his head to the side, “Uh, you know, just… on a daily basis.” He smiled at the two girls. “I feel like I’m losing my mind right now doing a drug deal with Chrissy Cunningham and Y/n L/n, the queens of Hawkins high.”
Y/n noticed that Chrissy was getting more comfortable, no longer so tense. “You know this isn’t the first time we’ve all um… hung out.” Eddie says to the two girls.
“No?” Chrissy asks, Y/n cocks her head in question.
“You don’t remember?” Eddie asks, looking at the two cheerleaders sitting across from him.
“I’m sorry. I-” Chrissy pauses.
“That’s okay.” Eddie shakes his head, and messes with his finger until he makes the executive decision to stab himself in the chest with an invisible knife, falling on his back off the bench and onto the leafy forest floor.
Chrissy gasps and Y/n let a snort leave her lips as she tries to stifle her laughter with her hand. “I wouldn't remember me either. Honestly, do I have stuff in my hair?” he stumbled onto his feet, brushing his hands off and running his hands through his leaf infected hair. The two girls laugh as Eddie finishes fishing all the leaves out of his hair, he turns back to face them.
“You don’t remember me?” he questions the girls, Y/n starts racking her brain but to be honest after these past few years she's been trying to forget about everything from her past.
“I’m sorry.” Chrissy laughs, she turns to her friend and raises an eyebrow in question, Y/n shrugs in thought.
“Middle school, Talent show. You two were doing this cheer thing. You know…” he raised his hands shaking them as if he had cheerleading pom poms. “the thing you do. It’s pretty cool actually. And I was with my band-” the two girls cut him off, saying it in sink.
“Corroded Coffin.” they spoke, Eddie started clapping and did a little turn. Y/n’s brain thought of the much shorter, buzzed hair, little boy who played the electric guitar during a middle school talent show.
“Corro- you do remember!”
“Of course we do! With a name like that, how could we forget!”
“I don’t know, you’re a freak.” Eddie teased.
“No you just…” Chrissy trailed off, “you looked so…
“Different?” Eddie asked. “Yeah. well, my hair was buzzed and I still didn’t have these sweet ol’ tatties yet.” he pulled down the top of his shirt revealing his chest that was littered with tattoos.
“You played guitar, right?”
“Uh-huh, still do.”
“You know.” Chrissy continued, she looked over to Y/n. “Y/n here plays guitar too.”
“Bass, I play bass.” she corrected, Eddie looked at her.
“Never would’ve guessed.” he spoke.
Y/n raised an eyebrow, “what’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing, nothing. You just don’t give me the, ‘I play an instrument’ vibe.” he shrugged, “you know, you should come see us play. We play at The Hideout on Tuesdays. It’s pretty cool, we.. we get a crowd actually, of about five drunks.” Chrissy laughed as Y/n smiled at the brunette boy.
“We should.” Y/n agreed.
“It’s not exactly the Garden but you gotta start somewhere, right?” he started playfully punching a tree. Y/n took in his appearance, his dark jeans, his ‘Hellfire’ baseball tee-shirt, his belt chain, different rings, a black bandana hanging out of the back of his pants, and his long curly hair.
“You know, you’re not what I’d thought you’d be like.” the blonde trailed off.
“Mean and scary?” Eddie asked, he grabbed a piece of his hair and covered his mouth with it.
“Yeah.” Chrissy nodded.
“Yeah, well I actually thought you’d be kinda mean in scary, too.” Eddie walked back toward the table and leaned into the two girls.
“Us?” the two girls spoke, looking at each other curiously.
“Terrifying.” He sat down and grabbed his lunch box, setting it back on the table top. “Good news is flattery works with me,  so…twenty-five percent discount count for the half. Fifteen bucks.” he places down a baggy in front of the blonde. “You’re robbing me blind here, you know.”
Chrissy looked down, “do you have anything… maybe.” she stopped, “stronger?”
“Chrissy?” Y/n asked, for all Y/n knew this was her first time doing anything so going stronger would be a push. “Don’t you think you should start off slow? Ease into it?”
She shook her head, “no… I’m sure.”
“I… uh- don’t have anything on me but I can meet you tonight with it.” Chrissy nodded.
“After the game, we can meet at my trailer.” Eddie spoke.
“Yeah, that works.” Chrissy agreed.
“I won’t be able to come.” Y/n spoke to Chrissy, “I have to drop Dustin back at his house after his thingy.” Y/n remembered the promise she made to Mrs. Henderson didn't want her son to bike home in the dark so she asked Y/n to do it. Of course she said yes, after school she'd go back home then take her car back for the game.
“That’s fine. I can go alone.” Chrissy spoke to Y/n, Y/n nodded hesitantly, looking back to Eddie who was putting his jacket back on.
“Okay.” She looked over to Eddie’s hand and said the time. “We have to go to class.” she said standing up and swinging her bag over her shoulder.
“Alright.” Chrissy turned to the boy. “See you after the match in the parking lot?” Eddie nodded and Chrissy turned following Y/n out of the forest and back onto the football field.

Revolver (1966)
So, you know from my previous write-up that I think Rubber Soul is a little bit underrated. I think there may be a similar thing occurring here, as while it's more likely to be picked as The Greatest Beatles Album, it's still in the shadow of what comes right after and a couple of the later ones. Still, this is home to a couple of absolutely iconic staples as well as a few hidden gems. Deciding to scrap live concerts entirely, they could now dabble with The Studio itself to bring out new and exciting sounds. Load up yer bullets and ready the needle arm, we're on something Revolutionary.
Tumblr media
The famous line art and collage made by Friend of the Band since Hamburg days, Klaus Voormann! Ya can't deny he gets their likeness, though George's direct look at the viewer with those lips is a bit unsettling for me personally. Still, it's what they call Art and the first cover that isn't a single photograph, we have iconic illustration and an eclectic montage here! Very cool ...if not something I'd want on my wall lol
SIDE ONE
Taxman: Remember how in the previous write-up for Run For Your Life, I complained about how dope instrumentals were bogged down by lyrics that sucked? Well it's a similar situation here! I'm Pro-Public Sector being funded by the Ultra Rich being shaken down for change!! I know the Marginal Rate was huge, but it was for those who could, like, actually afford it. Unfortunately that may include Daft Rock Stars, innit? .....Anyway yeah, the guitar shredding is really good but the cleverness of the lyrics is wasted by picking the wrong stance, so this ain't one I listen to that often. The music video on the official youtube is pretty visually interesting though.
Eleanor Rigby: A sad tale of an older lady dying alone, ya wouldn't expect it to be one of the most iconic songs by a band that's already made countless bangers about love and sex and rocking out, wouldja? And maybe it's because of that stark difference, and the song itself being so beautiful, that it stands out and even wins over Beatle Haters! The sound is best in the 2022 remix, obviously, but I like to watch the music video that was in Yellow Submarine for this song, where a multitude of different Lonely People are shown. But the fairly detailed story described without visuals really does tug at the heartstrings (apt that this tune has such a prominent String Octet, haha).
I think part of what makes this work so well is, not just the Tragic Narrative, but also the mundane nature. The allusion to wearing a mask of a false self in public, the bluntness of the apathy shown to strangers. Dreams that go unfulfilled, words that go unheard, your entire life being known only as you have a headstone, if that. It applies to countless people we walk by every day. And the irony of how Eleanor and the Father McKenzie might have been able to connect, but only actually have contact when he's performing her lonely funeral. Owch.... a great song but Not a fun one!
I'm Only Sleeping: First of all, I MUST endorse the painting music video that's also on the Official Youtube. Even if ya've heard this song countless times, you have gotta See it too!!
Anyway, gorgeous strumming and a steady drum balance the slower pace of this number. John's vocals are serene and drowsy, matching the feeling of having a lazy morning in a comfy, comfy bed. The way the music pauses and starts back up with increased tempo, the backward guitar (!!) and how the song starts to repeat itself from the beginning again all give it such a beautiful, distinct vibe, and again it's pretty faithful to that feeling when you doze off and lose track of time.
Love You To: After George's previous song being blazing electrical guitar set to complaining, this one is quite different! Very sitar heavy and introspective, with a very slow start for a while before kicking off with the vocals. It's not really my bag, but I can appreciate the artistry in it, at least. After such a long intro the outro feels pretty abrupt, too.
Here, There and Everywhere: This also has an animated video on the Youtube! It's nice but oddly rotoscopes Help! (Movie) footage among other things, it doesn't feel as Bespoke so it's optional as far as I'm concerned lol. Anyway! Paul does a Beach Boys! It's a pleasant, serene ode to a nebulous woman but, while I like it, it doesn't have quite the memorable staying power other than that it sounds like another band did it. Sorry for being so mild, Paul! I just like others ya did more!
Yellow Submarine: YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
A real Marmite of a song, innit? I adore it, myself~ It's deceptively complex, hidden behind what could be seen as a monotonous, repetitive lyrics sheet, but for those who listen not only with yer ears but your heart and soul as well, you'll enjoy it :3
Even without reading Pro-Community or Escapism subtext within, the base level of a children's song with pretty described visuals and creative, clever sound effects over a catchy base tune with Ringo's vocals really make a song that's more than the sum of its parts. No wonder it did so well as the Title Track and Main Vehicle of the animated movie! XD (Also, as a Supermarionation Fan, I sure suspect Thunderbird 4 was inspired by this number as well as the practical truth that yellow is the most visible colour under water~)
She Said She Said: The LSD in this one is very apparent lol. A bit of mystery lurks in no one knowing if Paul actually played on the final version due to some undisclosed drama. The ......metre? changes partway in and (as always) the instruments are groovy, but again I'm not wild about it and wouldn't notice if it were cut lmao
SIDE TWO
Good Day Sunshine: This hits a little different when hot days are very annoying... but I can't fault this song for the massive shift in climate! I do like how upbeat and jolly this is, the piano offers an interesting flourish and some good harmonies and cymbal crashing.
And Your Bird Can Sing: This is the song I always think of when mulling over Hidden Gems by the Beatles. It's 2 minutes of Rock Perfection and yet it's chronically overshadowed by so many others! While there's much debate over who or what "your Bird" may be, the actual thesis of the song is about deflating materialism and pride, which is cool. The guitar shredding, rhythmic percussion and that triple harmony with "you tell me that you've heard every sound there is" make this such a delight! I think that particular vocal sync may even be the best I've ever heard, it's sooooo great~
For No One: Paul's at it again with 'Maaaan dating Jane Asher isn't doing it for me' songs! However I think this is the best of them lol. Very engaging piano and clever lyrics about two former lovers who now feel mere indifference for the other. Somehow they've drifted apart and it's only a matter of time until they admit defeat and make it formal, but we're not there just yet.
Doctor Robert: This is weird cause it's based on the real dentist the lads used, who spiked John and George with acid and in general seems like the most cartoonishly suspicious kind of nightmare who you really don't want to be left in charge of your numbed body, what the fuck?! I mean the song itself is pretty rockin' but dear GOD do I hope they cut that dude out once the drugging came to light. I'd be hiring some fucking Goons to scare him rather than writing a ditty about the situation, but I guess their ways of coping differ to modern times... oh right, the music? It's good, duh! I'll highlight Paul's Bass as being a very Groovy fixture~
I Want To Tell You: This one I tend to forget about entirely lmao. George at it again, good piano and drum work... I think the Bridge is good but the main song doesn't do much for me. Another "well it's not Bad, but..." number. Huh, sorry George, I know songs ya made that I adore but they ain't here...!
Got To Get You Into My Life: Ska?! In The Beatles? It's more likely than you think! But I actually prefer the "Second Version" that one may find on the YT or Super Deluxe edition. This main one sounds a little overpowering with really loud brass and Paul's voice seems to be filtered. I loooooove that it's a declaration of devotion to Weed instead of a person this time though, while cunningly woven to fly under the Morality Police radar.
Tomorrow Never Knows: This is more Art than a song, and I mean that in a good way! The completely unique Sounds and the experimental Techniques, Ringo's beating on them drums..... it's just really fun to listen to~ Mere words don't work so well for this one XD;;;
CONCLUSION
Best 3: Eleanor Rigby, I'm Only Sleeping, Yellow Submarine
Blurst 3: Love You To, She Said She Said, I Want To Tell You
Hmm, picking the Blurst was really hard this time and now it looks like I have Anti-George sentiments, which I don't! But it's less the choices there are Bad and more Not For Me. That's part'a why I've been saying Blurst this whole time instead of Worst, the subjective aspect can't be ignored...! And maybe I'm showing a little Bias in the Best category, but again it's painful to hafta discard bangers like And Your Bird Can Sing for anything, but I love me some Yellow Submarine just that much more ^^;;
I already used the line, but fuck it; Revolver is indeed Revolutionary. (Read that in the Devious Diesel voice Ringo does, please~). The studio tweaks done to increasingly Sophisticated music really marks a change in the landscape, not just for these Bugs, but the medium as a whole. That kinda sentiment persists with a lot of Beatle Moments, of course, but I think Revolver represents a real point of no return.
🪲🪲🪲🪲
Next month, we'll be (checks notes) ah, instead of The Beatles, there'll be a new group 『サージェント・ペパーズ・ロンリー・ハーツ・クラブ・バンド』. I hope you tune in anyway, as they're very well regarded! A splendid time is guaranteed for all~

Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
-Eleanor Rigby, The Beatles
George Moore has never been the life of the party. Has never wanted to be, either. He is a man who delights most in a book and a quiet moment with those he loves, the number of which is cursed to be few and far between for as long as he lives, from early childhood at the orphanages to three decades later. He is a man who is not just acquaintances with loneliness, but best friends with being alone.
Janine Mayweather, in the other hand? She is not a wallflower. She is as far from it as can be. She shines from across the room. Her smile makes you feel like the sun is shining on you.
But most of all, she’s smart. Witty. Funny as can be. She doesn’t have the tact yet that she will develop later in life, and that turns off a lot of the guys her age, but to George, it’s like a sun falling on his tight, closed-off petals. He is a flower that turns towards her directness and intelligence.
George knows what he means to her. He knows that she considers him an ally in her fight against the world. He knows that she knows what she can get from him and he from her, and that she sees that as a bargain worth making.
Some might be offended by that definition of love.
But George Moore grew up poor. Alone. He valued his solitude, but he values his girlfriend and her defense of his interests and her warm hugs more. He values the way that she completes him, the way she pulls him into shared friendships with townies and farmers alike, the way she makes herself at home in any crowd.
When George is standing by Janine Mayweather’s side, he isn’t alone. He is welcomed. Valued. And that means something to him.
-Kenna Jenkins, no one else was in the room where it happened
(In honor of me reading his chapter on ao3/the song associated.)
