Rock Monkies AU - Hairstyles

RM creator and I have this idea related to the hairstyles Wukong and Macaque had over the course of their lives.

Wukong takes pride in his hair, taking care of it and letting it grow longer. I might have also added a hc?? That long hair is an important aspect among demons. This is also based on chinese culture in which long hair is the same with honoring your parents or ancestor.

After getting imprisoned under the mountain, and reflecting on his actions, he feels remorse and guilt and one way of showing it is by cutting his hair shorter once he gets freed.

Things get worse from there though, with Macaque attacking him leading to Macaque's "death". After the journey, Wukong cuts his hair again, to a much shorter length- his canon hairstyle. Every time his hair gets too long, he cuts it. As long as he hasn't forgiven himself and as long as Macaque hasn't forgiven him, he will cut it again and again.

Macaque's hairstyle hasn't changed as much. Although the moment his grief and anger had taken over, he hasn't tied his hair again and refuses to put any ornaments on his head. He has done a lot of things in his life that he regretted as well, such as failing to protect Qiuyue, attacking his husband in a fit of rage, and not being able to take care of Xiaotian. Letting his hair loose and devoid of ornaments is a way to show the remorse he feels.

Been playing on Mira's Space Station 14 server for the past month or so, ended up creating a whole new guy in the process, so here's Anura Tryst, Security Officer, Frog Man (call him this at your own risk), and Perpetually Underpaid for what he has to deal with on the Evac Shifts.

Been trying for a long time to get better about drawing heavier body types and I think the result turned out pretty good. Also been toying with using pencil outlines for these drawings again, not sure if I'll end up sticking to it, but its a nice texture and I do love making those.

Below the line is a full body reference, minor content warning for the fact he is only wearing boxers in the pic and the burn wound that's going across his chest and stomach, but nothing overall too graphic.

Some new art of a very very old oc of mine! From like, when I was an 8th grader in middle school to freshman in high school I think, I haven’t thought about this character or the world she’s from in like… years, but my brain suddenly remembered she existed! And so I drew some art of her!

Visually, she’s absolutely mostly the result of my child self sticking Toko Fukawa from Danganronpa and Peacock from Skullgirls in a blender and lettin it fuckin rip. Personality wise she’s a bit different tho… she’s into politics! As in,,, she’s in politics ghgh, she’s like the chief of the surveillance department for the country of (mostly) witches that the story takes place in. And one of the advisors to the head ruler witch,,, she sucks! Hardcore! she’s def a villain lol

to answer ur ask, meet my newest oc: paulina “poe” tsukimi. referred to as poe in game—much like the landau’s are known as their first names in game, poe is the same. except instead of her first name, “paulina,” it’s her nickname: poe! :3 (there’s reason why she goes by this name instead of her Full Name but u have to be At Least level 20 to unlock that voiceline/lh)

i haven’t fully developed her yet but she’s a college student! she goes to the college that dr ratio teaches. however, she doesn’t take his classes and often slacks off. yet dr ratio is interested (read: frustrated) in her due to her father being his coworker in the past; she often came to visit the man & stopped by his room to attend his lectures. she always was one of the most inquisitive students, asking questions he didn’t have the answer of until the next time she visits

yet when she became old enough to enter college, she no longer carried the same drivel she did all those years ago.

the doctor can’t help that wonder: between middle school and high school… what changed?

I think my current favorite bit of lore is that when Billy saved Freddy's life by sharing his powers with him, he unknowingly caused Freddy's brother Kit to die. But because he wasn't supposed to die he was granted ghost powers and became Kid Eternity!

An extra bit of lore that I always find funny is that the Sivanas lived on Venus for a time and Beautia was even the Empress of Venus!

tbh side order and octo expansion arent really comparable cause theyre both going for different things. octo expansion is a lot more focused on the lore and atmosphere while side order is focused on the gameplay. octo expansion is still better by like a million years though

i’ll give a few facts if ya want. sorry if i didn’t understand something or you wanted to know something specific— feel free to lemme know

some Hilton lore:

despite him being a very bad student in his earlier years and extremely disorganized, he became the head scientist at his workplace, QSOP. he wasn’t treated like he belonged in that position, as nobody, including himself, understood why he was chosen for that area, but Hilton accepted the job so he could try to distract himself from his life.

his daughter’s name was Jess, but he called her Ness because of the name sound alike to the loch-ness monster. his wife didn’t like that.

he doesn’t have long hair because he thinks it looks pretty, he has it because he worked so hard as head scientist he barely had any time to relax or take care of himself, like a haircut. but that didn’t stop him from spending time with his daughter, who he brought with him to work often. she would always pack him a sandwich and a hairbrush.

they had a good relationship! sure would be a shame if there was an alien apocalypse that killed her or something haha

The two ladies are on opposite ends when it comes to their financial statuses:, whereas Rivienne refuses to have any connection to her family's Ishgardian coffers, in fact, they have most likely been looted and emptied, she herself is frugal and living off whatever means she has.

With her understanding and connection to the flora as a botanist, she grows her own food and uses that to trade with others when necessary. If she is in dire need of funds, she takes on bounties to replenish her pockets, though is very practical, and doesn't desire more than what she needs.

Kikyo's father was a Doman onmyoji that chose family and a simpler, quieter life in a mountain village where his wife and child could be kept safe. They lived off the land and were limited on how much they could trade with other nearby villages. They were rich in love, and that is all they needed.

That remains true even to this day, despite her circumstances.

The wealth of Kikyo's adopted clan comes from the bloodline of her father's kin, who handled both illegitimate and sanctioned businesses. They use the preface of a samurai clan turned merchant, though the affluence they gained, by any and all means, always returns back to the people in one way or another.

For Fusanosuke, Kikyo was one of those people. This has allowed his adopted daughter to live in what others know to be one of luxury and comfort, in an estate where she is cared for and catered to. This has not changed who she is, but the status allows her to give back to others, especially refugees that are still in need of assistance. The Enclave is a testament to that.

The way Ambrose’s ears droop might give away the answer, even if he hesitates with how to answer at first. If only not to make the situation dreary.

Ambrose presses the back of his hand to his mouth for a moment, forcing deep breaths to calm himself down. He doesn’t really want to get emotional about it, but he was never great at hiding his upset. Loss was inevitable, but definitely not made any easier by that fact.
