honestly it bugs me a little how 99% of the comments on the these are the days of our lives music video, one of my personal favorite queen mvs for pure aesthetics and mood, are people calling it "heartbreaking" and hand-wringing about how SICK and PALE and CLOSE TO DEATH freddie mercury looks. like. wooow the dying man looks like he's dying? really? well done, nancy drew! have a gold star! yes aids is an awful fucking disease and yes hiv positive people shouldn't be reduced to washed-out portraits of the words "inspirational" and "strong" by the media and they should have their pain acknowledged but guys. freddie, by all accounts, very much Did Not Want To Dwell On It. he told his friends he had aids and then immediately was like but i don't want to talk about it. i just want to spend the rest of my time making as much music as i can. and his bandmates accepted that and supported him! he wanted to spend the time he had doing what he loved with people he loved and who loved him and he did. he had, by all accounts, a great last year. that one person who took the days of our lives bts color footage and edited Sad Piano Music TM over the entire thing and intercut interviews with the rest of the band also with Sad Piano Music TM and made it so we could barely hear freddie even say anything... it makes my blood boil like he's literally just. like it's literally just footage of him walking and discussing a take with the director and standing waiting for the take to start like. normal video filming stuff. and all anyone can see is a tragedy because he's walking stiffly or whatever

Yeah nothing crazy. kinda predictable i guess. classic rock, country rock, classic blues, nostalgic 60s folk, contemporary stuff when it comes on the radio and isn’t unlistenable by their middle-aged-white-man standards.

OH FUCK I JUST REALIZED THIS SONG IS ABOUT BREA AND REX 😭😭😭

BRO LIKE...I never realized how Brea and Rex coded it is!! Especially in their later years going into the Rebels/ROTJ era!! I can also see this as being Rex fantasizing, but one day when the universe is finally at peace and they can well and truly be together they just. Do that. Spend every day together enjoying the fact that they get to be by each other's side.

Not to mention that Rex is a clone, it was always expected that they would die in battle. The very IDEA of growing old at all was not a luxury they could waste precious energy on, let alone with someone you LOVE 🥺🥺🥺 but that's what he gets! He gets to watch his children grow up, he gets to see wrinkles and grey hairs appear on his body, he gets to REST. And I'm sure he never really stops feeling at least some guilt about it, knowing he's older than so many of his brothers ever got the chance to be, but with Brea and his family he can still learn to accept it and be happy...

I think it was always true that Brea would outlive Rex...by a long shot, even. It's not either of their fault. Jedi tend to be pretty long-lived, and he only had half a life to begin with until they finally stopped his rapid-aging gene and he was able to live out the rest of it normally. I feel like this is Rex comforting her nearing the end, letting her know that he has no regrets about any of it and that the only thing he needs is her by his side

hmm, good question !!!! i — really don't, to be honest !! 🥺 i, of course, have the fic playlist, but i don't have a connection with any one song in the way that i do with happiness is a butterfly, which is sad LOL if i had to pick one song that makes me think of ptmy touya when i hear it, it would be jesus christ by brand new, because i think it really embodies that want to be good enough while also feeling so undeserving 🥺 but ty for the question !! 😌✨️
