Sorry if someone already suggested it, but you should make a control. Get a halfway convincing poster of a non-existent show and see how many people lie about hearing about it (or even seeing it).
wait this is genius. if i pick some tumblr favourite actors it'll make people freak out ahaha
not saying i will do it, not saying i won't. definitely keeping this idea in my mind

So EA/Bioware were retweeting all the negative comments towards Larian, huh
Can't say I'm not surprised by that. A lot of the ones doing so are pretty big names that could definitely improve their games and yet they wanna complain as if fans are expecting 'too much' from them. Like we should just accept getting half baked games all the time...really showing their arses, aren't they.😅
I think what these devs don't comprehend and why they are panicking is because they think everyone wants them to do all the same things when x game becomes popular. And they know they will fail because it happens Every Single Time.
You can't copy paste someone's work and think that it will be revolutionary. It's the same thing that happened when skyrim had huge open world then they all did that. But they do this to themselves!!! They want constant big successes without creativity. Now they whine in advance saying they can't do this. Good. Nobody wants the same game but worse released 500 times.
It reveals their way of thinking, they do the "copy homework" thing because they think it's expected of them. This is what they mean by the "new standard". Their brains immediately leapt to "we now need to replicate everything about the style and scope of this game."
NO. That is not the standard. If only they embraced their own style and leaned into their own strengths and listened to feedback.
Bioware's stupidity in particular is truly incredible. because they achieved this at one point, they were a success story with Baldur's Gate. Then they went on to make games that people still consider some of the greatest rpgs of all time, they "set the standard". But then they refused to listen.
Because every company tries to appeal to the masses, they try to entice the playerbase of different games. But actually they just lose their own players. Oh by the way, dear tumblr staff... does this remind you of someone?

PJO: we need to recognize the value of the minor gods. The Olympians are important, sure, but the minor gods do a lot of work in maintaining and assisting the pantheon, have their own kids and deserve to be seen and valued just as much
HoO: Back at it again with Olympian-only nonsense!

Some important stuff in regards to the harassment of developers came from Bungie today. They won a lawsuit against a guy who repeatedly harassed a community manager and his family (not fully confirmed in the official document, but people are fairly certain this is about A_dmg and his family). This is a twitter thread from the lawyer who went into some details about the situation. The court document is also available to read (featuring some of the horrific harassment tactics that were motivated by racism and also used racism as part of the harassment so be advised if you want to read).
This isn't just a win for the individual community manager and Bungie, but also has potential to set a bigger precedent in the future. It's basically the first time this has been done to this extent and some ruling in this case made it clear that companies can pursue this sort of legal action in the future if their employees are harassed and threatened. This is HUGE because the protection of employees in the gaming industry has been abysmal otherwise. This case will allow for the company to file a lawsuit on behalf of their employees in cases of harassment.
Before I add some of the more heinous stuff about this situation below, I want to say that the majority of reactions to this are positive. People are happy that this happened as it did and a lot of people are excited about potential big influence this will have in the future to combatting harassment of this type in the gaming industry.
Extra details and thoughts below (racism tw):
This started because the community manager highlighted a black content creator, Uhmayyze, who is himself a victim of harassment more often than not (usually of racist nature). He is most often harassed because he is unapologetically positive for which people have continuously sent him awful shit and comments. Because he enjoys the game and isn't jumping on the hate train. Just recently he commended Bungie for a ban wave and had hundreds of people hound him on twitter for his comment, including Gladd who started it by specifically replying to Uhmayyze and putting him on blast (warning for a lot of gross comments, including photoshopped screenshots of fake discord texts to make Uhmayyze look bigoted, nsfw images, r slur, suicide baiting and so on). This is important because the incident of real life harassment was fuelled over a community manager highlighting a content creator that is himself being harassed and despised online for the crime of... being positive. And you know, for being black. This situation isn't an isolated incident. The community, including other content creators, are absolutely horrible towards this one person that they feel, I guess, does not follow the content creator NPC questline of hating Bungie and Destiny.
So of course, at some point, someone from that crowd will feel confident and justified taking things further. How dare Bungie promote this person they hate. How dare they focus on a positive creator. They're clearly biased and don't want to listen to criticism, only to "toxic positivity" streamer. How dare a community manager highlight this creator. It's a personal slight to them, and "proof" that Bungie is bad and evil and "ignoring criticism." There's someone out there (and probably not the only one) that hates this creator and the game so much they were willing to harass and threaten a community manager and his family in real life.
The community manager was first harassed by phone with text messages and voice mails featuring racist bile, including apparently a voice mail telling him to "convince Bungie to create options in its game in which only persons of color would be killed." This is the worst part for me and super concerning in general, as well as showing the dedication of this person to racism, motivated by his hatred of a black creator (which also, by proxy, technically makes the streamer being harassed as well). Absolutely ghoulish behaviour.
This escalated to also harassing the CM's wife and resulted in doxing them; the harasser somehow found their address. Most of the reports on this will say that the asshole "sent them pizza" which doesn't truly capture how horrific the incident was. First, it's a random guy who has your address which is concerning enough given that he harasses you by phone already. Apparently the pizza was made to be "inedible" and the delivery was instructed to bang loudly on the door upon arrival to maximise discomfort. The order was also deliberately made to be paid on delivery to create as much pain for the victims as possible. The harasser also kept track of the delivery and then called the family again when it was done to tell them to "enjoy the pizza." The family immediately contacted Bungie who contacted the police and provided the family with protection. There's no telling how this would've escalated had they not been in the position to call Bungie and had Bungie not reacted to them asking for help. It's absolutely crucial here that Bungie is the type of a company willing to immediately assist in this situation.
Immediately following that, Bungie organised a long and expensive manhunt to identify the harasser and bring them court. That's where most of the expenses went; finding the culprit and protecting the employee and his family. This is the money Bungie earned back by this court decision because they could prove that the expenses were caused by a person harassing and threatening their employee.
This is a big win overall for the whole industry. It's Bungie setting a precedent on how a company should protect its employees. No matter what people think about Bungie or big corporations or whatever, this is how you can use a lot of money and power to make sure that your workers have rights to decency and safety. That's huge for the rights of workers and worker protections. I hope it becomes a standard and that any future harassment is prevented altogether or at least punished accordingly.
Naturally, the commentary on the news from a big part of the community is super positive. Unfortunately, there's also a part of the community that has a lot of really awful shit to say about this. The comments on twitter are littered with people who are using THIS specific moment to yell about Bungie being a greedy corporation, how the money they won should be used to "fix the servers" and "make more pvp maps" or how Bungie will greedily put this money "into Eververse" or "into Marathon." There's comments about how time was uselessly spent protecting an employee who should expect harassment anyway, instead of working on "fixing the game."
This is what I mean when I talk about how impossible it is in the current situation to have a meaningful discussion about any sort of criticism or feedback. There's thousands of comments from people who think that this specific instance shows how Bungie is greedy. This is what I mean when I say that none of these people actually understand what they're talking about. You can't make proper criticism when you can't separate game development with a company's legal effort to stop an escalating harassment campaign of an employee. The majority of gamers are simply not fit to offer any criticism or feedback. The idea that we all have something useful to say and that employees at Bungie are obliged to give us their time of the day is simply incorrect.
I genuinely 100% stand by the claim that the recent barrage of content creators promoting the idea that Bungie is "the greediest company in the world that's scamming players and increasing costs out of greed" as well as the idea that Bungie is "abandoning Destiny for Marathon, isn't working on the game anymore and is deliberately ruining it" is the reason for these comments existing. If a big streamer said that Bungie is getting too much money but also not doing anything "good" with it, then any money that Bungie receives (including compensation for expenses they took to protect an employee from active harm) is a result of greed. The nuance of any situation is lost; when you only learn the mantra of "company has money therefore company bad" you WILL end up causing harm for people and you will most definitely not be an advocate of workers rights. That's where we're at right now.
The dehumanisation of people who work at Bungie (and the harassment itself) is a consequence of this crap and other similar crap that's been thrown into the ether for the past year, disguised as "we're just offering feedback." People heard that Bungie is a "microtransaction hell" and that Bungie is only investing in Eververse and Marathon and they feel like this story reflects that; they feel like an employee being harassed is not deserving of proper condemnation and that this isn't important enough and that Bungie is a greedy corpo anyway so who cares about that. They do not understand how companies work, how games are made, the state of the industry as a whole (or the world as a whole), the treatment of employees or workers' rights, and you cannot meaningfully critique a company's business practices without understanding that. And they don't because they think that legal expenses used to protect victims, finding a culprit and bringing their ass to court is money that is being used for game development and that Bungie receiving this money should result in... new pvp maps or "fixed servers."
And there's even seemingly good commentary where people recognise how this is good, but they initiate the comment with "As much as I hate Bungie and Destiny and I think they're awful and greedy and destroying gaming as a whole..." : that's not the time and place. You don't have to excuse your support of a big win for potential new employee protection policies just because those policies are done by a company. Of course it is. Companies are the only ones capable of pursuing this sort of legal action. It's one good way a big company can put their power and money into a good place to actually help people and bring forth positive change. And like, you don't have to tell us how much you despise Bungie before you're "allowed" to admit that this is good news. Sometimes companies do good stuff. It's literally not that complicated.
I hope that this situation will help other employees demand the same protection, that other companies will follow suit and that this will also make potential other harassers rethink whether or not they will engage in this or similar type of behaviour. In the meantime, know that the community is largely positive about this, but that there are still absolutely detestable human beings who should feel ashamed of their reaction to this. They shouldn't feel welcome here. And there's still people doing this to the devs and I hope Bungie takes their asses to court too.

I wish y’all would let platonic vs romantic relationships die. Why is it a competition? Why does it make a difference? And why is it the fandoms problem when romance is celebrated more than friendship and not the creators of the media?
There’s so many shows that I’ve watched that got me hooked for the romance but I ended up loving the platonic/familial ships better because they were better developed. TVD looking at you. Quite frankly, there’s a huge lack in the quality of romantic content that’s even available.
So I don’t understand why there’s this sense that there’s a war on the platonic/familial relationships when that’s really most of what we see and what’s the most thoughtful in regards to television these days.

thinking about john's multitude of short-lived, often quickly-abandoned apartments for some reason, so a couple details:
although you might expect to find a very wizard-y interior to any place he's currently living at — you know, grimoires, skulls, dust, clutter, etc. — his flats actually tend to be fairly spartan in terms of decor; they've even been accused of looking modern, here and there. he just moves too frequently to really settle in & accrue Things, and has so often had to simply up & leave everything he currently owned behind (with very little chance of getting any of it back) that he no longer attaches much meaning to household objects.
besides the consistent presence of at least one bookshelf with at least 12 books on it, and a sad sprig of garden sage that miraculously hasn't died yet, the one exception to his lack of personal touch is his extensive collection of records + tapes, all of which he has repeatedly & methodically tracked down and bought / bid / traded / stolen / threatened for / blackmailed for / simply taken back whenever an enterprising landlord or new tenant left him the opportunity to do so. his record player itself has never needed to be taken back, since it has always mysteriously vanished from whatever flat he's leaving and mysteriously appeared wherever he's staying; it's convenient like that. his 10th anniversary walkman, however, frequently goes missing, only to turn up again later in a place he KNOWS he checked when he's least expecting it.
lack of home decor isn't to say he doesn't own much, mind: the bulk of his personal possessions — assorted occult paraphernalia, blackmail documentation, miscellaneous crap from his mucous membrane days, and anything he is able to take with him from past flats — are usually stored off-site, in a secure location that can't easily be tied back to him. this guy's been accused of being a satanic killer on multiple occasions, he knows better than to keep all the real shit out where anyone can just swan in and see it.
currently, this storage location (which i lovingly call occult shit central) is an abandoned inner london storefront + adjoining flat that was formerly his old friend ray monde's shop and home, called brick-a-brac antiques. it's decidedly cozier than the last place, (in that there are chairs, plural,) and has fewer bear traps laid out in anticipation of unlucky thieves; in fact, if a person were to visit without already knowing where constantine actually lives, it'd be easy to mistake it as his expectedly-wizardy flat. it's not an ideal location for an occult shit central, too close to the heart of the city and too close to people to avoid drumming up suspicion should constantine attempt any sort of ritual inside, but until chas finally quits ducking the paperwork and signs over his storage lot (which he may or may not be dragging his feet on out of pure resentment for having to do it at all) ray's place is the best option there is.
constantine's previous (and future) storage location was a lock-up in streatham that chas had been letting him use (see: all but surrendered to him entirely) since he got out of ravenscar, but after constantine's sister died, john decided he was done with magic and, in a spontaneous fit of rage, burnt the place down with everything but a few necessities still inside. he regretted this later, when he inevitably returned to the occult scene after just over a year away, and spent a lot of time calling in favors / hypnotizing arson inspectors to try and put together an inventory of everything he'd lost.
in the nearly 20 years since the fire, he's managed to replace or find substitutes for about 2/3 of what he had (occult-wise), and gather enough fresh dirt / do enough favors / orchestrate enough compromising situations to accumulate a little over 1/4 of the political / interpersonal power he once maintained. ( the lack of success in the latter being, in part, because people now in power aren't as familiar with his name & reputation as they once were; in part because people just don't believe in magic as much as they used to, or were otherwise bought by hell / heaven / other parties a LONG time ago; and in part because he's come to absolutely fucking despise most politicians / people in power more than he is willing to work with them, or more than he is able to plausibly believe they won't try to drop him at the first opportunity. )
you would be hard-pressed to find a landlady/landlord that speaks kindly of this man. if he wasn't kicked out for suspicious smells / disturbing noises / sudden infestations / suspected satanic activity, then it's likely that he abruptly up and disappeared in the middle of the night, with no warning and no rent. (on a few occasions, this vanishing act also coincided conspicuously with a gruesome death on the premises, sometimes of the landlady/landlord themselves, although no one's ever been able to prove anything.) frankly it's . . . magic, that people still rent to him.
due to these aforementioned bad ends, he's incredibly lucky if he gets enough time or leeway to take any sort of furniture with him from one place to the next. however, there is one incredibly comfy, wing-backed, sapphire-blue armchair that's miraculously managed to survive every move in the last ten or so years without being reported stolen — even though it has survived every move because it has, in fact, been stolen in the dead of night nearly every single time, by john and at least one of his buddies.

5 times Phoenix “joked” about Apollo and Trucy being siblings + the one time Apollo found out he actually meant it
It started with little comments, though. Like the day the office was a wreck, and everyone was all over the place. One person was deep cleaning, another was trying to work, then someone bumped into a table and all the work got messed up, then everyone was yelling, then Trucy left to go get paper towels, and the chaos descended.
“Great,” Apollo muttered as he grabbed two, now soggy, sheets of paper with the tips of his thumbs and forefingers, “now I have to reprint these and fill them out all over again.”
“Well, maybe you shouldn’t write with your elbows sticking out,” Athena said, sticking her tongue out at the grumpy lawyer.
“Maybe you should put a lid on your drinks!”
“Maybe you should just get good! ”
“Hey!” Phoenix’s voice cut in. Athena and Apollo whipped their heads around like children caught doing something they weren’t supposed to. “Stop fighting! Where— is Trucy still getting paper towels?”
“I think so…”
“How about we focus on her instead of bickering?” Phoenix chuckled and rolled his eyes. “Apollo, go get your sister.”
Apollo sputtered a bit, and Athena snorted. He expected Phoenix to just laugh and go with it—there were running jokes about how he was basically fathering Apollo now as well, so it wouldn’t be that weird. What was weird was the fact that Phoenix looked just as startled by his own statement as Apollo, and with a reddened face, attempted to clumsily remedy his words.
But Apollo decided not to think too much about it. He rushed quickly off down the stairs to the front lobby (it was an unoccupied front desk by the doors with a sign that pointed W.A.A. clients up the stairs to the actual office, and a small janitors closet) where he found Trucy in a pile of cleaning supplies. It was a total off day.
AND YOU SHOULD READ THE REST OF IT HERE BECAUSE THIS SHIT GETS INTENSE AS FUCK:

An 11 year old girl is dead because her family allowed a man with a history of crimes involving minors on their property.
CNN —
The man suspected in the death of 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham is a family friend who was entrusted with taking her to the school bus on the morning she vanished – and later participated in the massive search for the girl before her body was found in an east Texas river, authorities said.
Audrii’s family thought the suspect, Don Steven McDougal, was just taking the girl down the street when the pair left her home Thursday morning, Polk County officials said. But she never made it onto the school bus or into her classroom, and a bag resembling her bright red Hello Kitty backpack was later found near a local dam.
Prosecutors are preparing an arrest warrant for McDougal, 42, and believe the evidence supports a capital murder charge, Polk County District Attorney Shelly Sitton said Tuesday.
Audrii’s body was found Tuesday in the Trinity River, downstream from the reservoir near where the backpack was found. It was one of several locations McDougal told investigators he had gone around the time of her disappearance, Sheriff Byron Lyons said.
Investigators located Audrii’s remains using cell phone records, video analysis and information from McDougal, Lyons said.
The condition of Audrii’s remains is not being released, the sheriff said, and the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine her cause of death.
To help uncover the body, Lyons said, water management authorities slowed the flow of water from the Lake Livingston reservoir – one of the largest reservoirs in the state, with 83,000 surface acres – allowing the river level to recede enough to reveal the remains.
“I express my deepest sympathies and condolences to everyone who knew, who cared for and loved Audrii,” the sheriff said. “We will continue to process the evidence that has been gathered to ensure justice for Audrii.”
The suspect is already in custody after being arrested Friday night on an unrelated aggravated assault charge, the sheriff’s office said.
CNN has been unable to determine if McDougal has obtained legal representation and has reached out to his family for comment on the accusations against him.
McDougal, a friend of Audrii’s father, lived in a trailer on the family’s property and sometimes took the girl to catch her school bus in the neighborhood, the sheriff said. He has been the main person of interest in her disappearance as authorities frantically scoured the rural east Texas town of Livingston – about 70 miles northeast of Houston, he said.
McDougal joined the search efforts and was seen knocking on neighborhood doors and asking if anyone had seen Audrii, the sheriff told CNN. But Lyons doesn’t believe his efforts were genuine.
“To me, it simply tells me is that he’s trying to give the appearances that he has no play or he’s not at fault in her disappearance and that (he’s) part of the concerned parties who were trying to locate her,” Lyons said Tuesday.
In the days after Audrii vanished, McDougal claimed in several social media comments that he was not guilty in her disappearance and has “done nothing wrong,” according to activity on a Facebook account appearing to belong to the suspect.
“I’m not guilty,” reads a comment from the account under a post on the Facebook page “True Crime Society” the day after Audrii was reported missing.
“I was there and was questioned. I am not running or hiding,” McDougal wrote before commenting again and saying, “I have done everything I can to help find her. I have done nothing wrong.”
CNN has sought comment from investigators about the Facebook comments.
Suspect has decadeslong criminal history
McDougal has a lengthy criminal history dating back to at least 2003, with convictions for violent crimes and one for enticing a child, according to court records in several Texas counties.
In 2007, he was convicted of enticing a child in Brazoria County, Texas. Court records show he pleaded no contest and was sentenced to two years in prison but was given credit for 527 days.
Online records do not detail the specific allegations in the child enticement case. But the offense is defined by the state as “the intent to interfere with the lawful custody of a child younger than 18 years” when a person “entices, persuades, or takes the child from the custody of the parent or guardian.”
McDougal was also convicted in 2010 and 2019 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The victim in the first aggravated assault case said McDougal, his former coworker, attacked him after being thrown out of his house.
“He showed up with some other friends that I had,” Elic Bryan told CNN on Tuesday.

Jackal (Enticing mercenary) X Reader
Tumblr media
(SORRY IF THIS SUCKS ASS + NSFW)
Inspired by @sleepy-apparition & @itsyourstarboy
As the mage lays comfortably in Jackal's strong but tender embrace, they can feel Jackal's hands start to glide gently over their bodies. Jackal seems in awe at the beauty in front of him, running his fingers down the small curves here and there on her body. His hand runs along the curves of her hips before resting on her stomach. Jackal leans in to give the mage a kiss before leaning back slightly.
Jackal is filled with affection for the mage in his arms, and his eyes are filled with desire.

Smirking, Jackal trails his fingers slowly up the mage's spine, relishing the feel of their flesh underneath his fingertips. He glances down, taking in the sight of the mage's exposed neck, and then leans in for something that feels like a kiss, only to place his lips teasingly near their skin rather than making true contact.

In a flash of motion, Jackal has positioned himself behind the mage, one arm slung gently over the mage's shoulder, the other reaching around them to pull them in closer.

A light groan escapes the mage's lips when Jackal's warm breath tickles the base of their neck. He nuzzles the mage's neck softly, his lips brushing gently against the skin. He can feel the mage's pulse racing under his touch as their bodies begin to heat up. Jackal's own breath quickens slightly as he inhales the mage's scent, a sweet and intoxicating scent that sets his heart aflutter. His tongue trails up the mage's neck, lingering on the soft spot behind the mage's ear before circling back to their neck.

As Jackal gently bites down on the mage's neck, they let out another sound of pleasure that sends shivers down the mercenary's spine. Jackal nibbles and caresses the mage's neck and shoulders, his mouth and hands slowly exploring every inch of their body as the mage's skin is covered in goosebumps. Jackal's tongue darts out to touch the soft skin of the mage's throat, which leads to a new sound of pleasure that fills the room with the sounds of pleasure. Jackal's touch becomes more intense, and the heat is becoming intense. Jackal cannot contain himself any longer and moves to kiss the mage hungrily, their lips crashing together in a frenzy of desire. Jackal pulls the mage against him tightly as their bodies press together. His hands roam across the mage's body as he kisses them deeply and passionately. The mage's body relaxes into the mercenary embrace as their lips part......
