when dawn came upon him, kuni heard nothing from you. and when the afternoon passed, there was still nothing. he was slowly getting nervous and worried. he hasn’t heard anything from your group ever since he saw kazuha’s car leave last night.

but he still held onto that small speck of hope.

the hope that made him, broke him, and left him begging for more. hope is a dangerous thing for someone who doesn’t know how to stop. for someone like kunikuzushi. but is it really worth it to give up when he's finally given a sign that his love is going to be reciprocated?

so he waited for you, just like he always did. after all, kuni will never get tired of waiting for you.

he paces back and forth in the living room of his condominium, wondering what to do. if he had to be honest, he really should’ve made you chase him a bit more. but even so, how can he resist when you literally told him that you loved him the night before? the rain started getting stronger, and it was around six in the evening already.

kuni sits down, deciding that he should just order himself some takeout. as soon as he tapped the place order button, his doorbell rang. confused, he opens the door.

and there you were, drenched from head to toe.

“i love you.”

“well, aren’t you soaked?” he replies, leaning against the doorstep.

you roll your eyes at him, fighting back a smile. “let me get dried, first," he chuckles. “alright.” when you entered his condo, you made your way straight to the bathroom to dry yourself. but before you could close the bathroom door, kuni called out to you.

“and (name)?”

“yeah?”

“i love you more.”

“really now?” you teased.

“what a way to ruin the mood.” this time, it was his turn to roll his eyes.

“i was kidding! look at me; i’m literally blushing right now.”

“uh huh. get yourself dried already.”

you smiled at him fondly before you shut the door. and once you were done, you asked to borrow an extra shirt from him since you were wet from the rain. you sat down next to him, wearing his shirt, which is slightly bigger than yours.

“so.”

“so?”

“do you remember anything from last night?” he asks.

“yeah, from entering the bar up until you know.”

“no, i don’t.” he says. you glare at him in return, in which he just gave you an all knowing smile in response. “up to when you kissed me!”

“what took you so long, though?”

“oh, i slept the whole day, but i immediately made my way here when i woke up.” 

he nodded in acknowledgment. and then there was silence.

“i’m sorry," you suddenly say. “what for?”

“for everything—the mixed signals, the mean things i’ve said before towards you, especially after we broke up, for raising my pride far too high, and for that... night, especially that night, but most of all, i’m sorry that i took this long.” 

you took a deep breath.

“i love you, kuni. i’m ready now. i want to love you the way you love me—an unconditional, pure, and committed love. i’ll stop being scared now.”

it felt relieving to finally say those words out. this is what you’ve been waiting for ever since the night you realized you couldn’t lose kunikuzushi again in your life.

“took you long enough.” you let out a light laugh at his words. “i know.”

“but… can i ask?”

“go ahead.”

“what took you so long?”

“ah. well, you know. i just thought you were just too good to be true back then. i felt like i didn’t deserve you, and the fact that we were going through our first year didn’t really help either because i felt pressured. we lasted during twelveth grade during college application season, sure, but things just became… different when college actually came around. i didn’t know what i wanted back then; i drowned myself in studies, i ended up shutting you and the others out more than you could count.”

“but you still stayed with me despite that—despite me pushing you away. you understood me, and i really appreciated that. but you deserved someone better. you’re made for many, many great things, kuni. and i didn’t want to become some sort of hurdle for your career. so i broke up with you instead. you didn’t deserve to be with the old me, but now that i think of it, i was a red flag as of late, no?”

“i didn’t see you as a red flag,” he starts. “but honestly? you were a perfect example of a walking paradox. you didn’t know what you wanted, but i did. i wanted to show you that you deserve love despite having my own obstacles in life too. you’re the risk i wanted—no, you’re still the risk i want to take. if i had to choose someone over and over again, it would be you. it will always be you.”

 you wiped away the few tears that left your eyes. “thank you, kuni.”

 “don’t cry; did you know that you’re an ugly crier?”

“stop ruining the mood!” you smacked his arm. he laughs and proceeds to wipe away your tears for you. “but kuni?”

“mhm?”

“let’s take it slow again, okay?”

“of course.”

it may be unbelievable for others to believe that the snarky, usually grumpy, and typically cold kunikuzushi scaramouche is actually someone who would be like this in terms of love. but kunikuzushi couldn’t bring himself to love another after you; the love that he once believed was black and white turned out to be golden—something to remember, something to cherish. and you’d rather have kuni be the one to catch you every time your walls start crumbling around you; you’d rather have him be the one who would understand you and love you nonetheless.

you were his daylight. and he was your afterglow.

Mahoro, Matakara, Aladdin and the Princess

I think Episode 8 finally confirmed to me that the role of the Princess in the Aladdin allusion was actually split between Mahoro and Matakara, rather than it being one or the other. There's a reason why they're both represented by Jasmine-chan during the Nyan Nyaight Love cutaways!

Preface; imo Bucchigiri's narrative takes inspiration from both Disney's Aladdin and the original Aladdin story, so I'm going to switch the Princess's name depending on which version of her I'm referring to. So Jasmine -> Disney's Aladdin, and Badroulbadour -> 1001 Nights Aladdin.

From what I saw in the 1001 Nights Aladdin, Badroulbadour didn't have much of a personality, so it makes sense that a lot of Mahoro and Matakara's personalities were taken from Jasmine, while their roles in the story were slightly more influenced by Badroulbadour.

Mahoro: The feistier side of Jasmine. She has a sharp tongue and always speaks her mind, regardless of potential danger. Eg. Mahoro stands up to Akutaro after he gains the upper hand on both gangs, similarly to how Jasmine refuses to bow to Jafar when he becomes Sultan.

She's also regarded as pretty desirable, and has charmed several men to get them to do what she wants (something that both Jasmine and Badroulbadour do at some point to trick Jafar/the sorcerer). Arajin falls for Mahoro at first sight, similarly to how both versions of Aladdin fell for both versions of the Princess, and like Aladdin his crush on her becomes his driving motivation throughout the series. Akutaro also talks about turning her into a NG Girl and…abusing her, a la Jafar. Ik it's just to trigger Arajin but yk what I mean!

Matakara: The gentler, more naive side of Jasmine, in that he trusts/believes in Arajin...a lot more than he should, really. The main 'lying' plot point between Disney's Aladdin and Jasmine is directly implemented into Matakara and Arajin's relationship. On a surface level there's also their blue colour schemes and phonetically similar names (Asamine -> Jasmine). Near the climax of the 1001 Nights version, the sorcerer tricks Badroulbadour into giving him the lamp with the genie in it, similarly to how Akutaro manipulates Matakara into shooting himself with Ichiya. Both actions trigger a Very Bad Turn of Events that Aladdin stops/will have to stop with the help of his own genie.

Also very interesting how Ichiya has a moon motif, and Badroulbadour's name is a metaphor for female beauty meaning 'full moon of full moons'. Totally not losing my fucking mind over that no sir

Though they both fit the Princess allusion, the entire show is screaming that Matakara is Arajin's true Jasmine, and Arajin is going to realise he was what he needed all along. Honestly, it doesn't get more obvious than Episode 9.

That's not to mention how Mahoro and Matakara also have many, many parallels to each other via their relationships with Arajin. (Both visit him one-on-one at his mom's restaurant to convince him to do something and order the exact same dish, Arajin thinks of child Matakara after seeing both current Matakara and Mahoro get hurt, his meetings with both of them are juxtaposed with one another and described as a 'fated meeting' in this trailer, etc.)

Aside from that, there's also a lot of little stuff that the two have in common! (Both suck at cooking, both deeply care about their older siblings, both are cute as hell etc etc.)

(it's also pretty neat how they're technically both the respective 'princesses' of Minato Kai and Siguma, being the younger siblings of the leader/former leader of each gang!)

Even going at a snail pace of 0.25x speed, it's nearly impossible to catch it. These images are some of the clearest ones I could get, and were almost frames apart.

I added some guidelines to attempt to make out the body shape and characteristics, but the blurred framing and rubble makes it really hard to see anything (and also I'm fairly blind, so feel free to draw it out better 😅

Are they clearer by any means? Absolutely not XD

Why did I even bother? Just for fun. And also to guess what the heck it is. Because Nori assumed it was either Doll or Uzi, but was not sure who it was.

It can't be Uzi, because she was watching the tape at this time. It could be Doll, but that would have to mean her core took form... But it didn't?

Tessa entity ate it later in the episode, which means that the core was with Doll the entire time she was waddling over to warn Uzi. So, it leaves two possibilities:

The Absolute Solver: the same one that was dragging N into the wall of flesh. Con: N blasted the tunnel to keep the solver contained.

2. Tessa entity: I will assume that around the same time, or just minutes prior, Tessa entity jump scared Doll in a different tunnel. Con: It's unknown if Tessa entity can change as quickly as Cyn could between Eldrich version and contained/drone/human version.

And the question once again comes, why bother even doing this? Well, my question would be: wtf is Tessa entity/1001? Because a DD core, when it takes form, looks like this:

But then, there is also Cyn's form, which looks like this:

And technically they are the same, my issue is how they manifest differently. J's core activated when it decided it needed more materials to rebuild the body. But Cyn's form is not broken, it simply switches between the three forms: WD, Eldrich Cyn, and Absolute Solver form (with camera looking heads).

So technically, it could be said that the drone that is used to put Tessa's skin on is Cyn's WD body.

Very little evidence? Yes. Am I slow? Hell yeah. (I mean, half of the names I see are Cynessa for the entity. Give me a break, my brain is slow af ;w;) But given that 1001 generally means it's the first of many, it could be a nod to Cyn being the first Absolute Solver host that we KNOW of. There could have been other drones that were also discarded incorrectly and were possessed by the Absolute Solver.

I just really hate the "Reasons I love this character" *inserts 1001 headcanons that completely contradict who the character is in canon.*

It happens to a lot of the ST characters but especially Steve. They like him because Joe Keery is pretty and they like the protector element. But they hate everything else about Steve, so they have to make so many things up to justify why he isn't actually the person he is in canon. They just want a pretty face to project on.

It's happened a lot to Eddie too, which is how he has become what he is in fanon rather than his canon characterization. Oh, he's sweet and kind and caring and would never hurt a fly and is always judged by everyone and would never judge others for anything. But in the show he is a judgemental asshole at times, and there are valid reasons for people to judge him (the conformity speech, dealing, Chrissy's body being found in the trailer.)

Jonathan is an amazing and caring older brother and an amazing boyfriend and he is outcast by all the mean popular people. But he outcasts himself, he's a creep because of the photos. And he's not great to Nancy, but there is a communication issue on both sides there. And he's not as good a brother to Will as he's sometimes made out to be. The way in s2 he basically tells Will that he's wrong for not wanting to feel like a freak. And the way he treats Joyce in s2 over her choice to date Bob.

But so much of this fandom also seems to think that OOC means doesn't reflect widely accepted fanon, so calls Eddie in his first episode OOC. Despite the fact that that is his canon characterization.

your last paragraph is *chefs kiss*. a lot of people really do see the characters solely as their fanon depictions and are jarred when they watch the show and realise that is not the case. especially with characters like eddie. but even with steve, i’ve seen so many posts about rewatching s1 and realising that steve doesn’t actually do all the heinous shit the fandom makes out he did.

i think it’s really… interesting? weird? the way that fanon has formed around eddie and jonathan to erase their worst traits and moments, but it’s formed around steve to exaggerate his worst moments, and even come up with entirely made up ones.

this isn’t to say that steve doesn’t have negative character traits, of course he does. but not the kind that the fandom likes to think he has.

anyway! yeah, a lot, honestly the majority, of fan made content in this fandom is using steve’s name and joe keery’s face and that’s it!!! and it’s fucking annoying lmao.

and i think the worst part is that they don’t even realise they’re doing it. they’ve been so deluded by fanon that they honestly think they’re sticking to his characterisation.

Dearest friends, I have spent over a week creating this quiz. I was dissatisfied with existing options, and felt sure that I could do better... and it turns out that personality/character quizzes are a pain in the arse to make, and I now understand why some of them are so rubbish.

My greatest joy right now with Bucchigiri is slowly connecting the dots on what characters in Bucchigiri are suppose to represent who in 1001 Arabian nights.

The fact that Arajin is obviously suppose to be Aladin, and Matakara [asamine ] is suppose to he jasmine though jasmine wasn't in 1001 Arabian nights since before disney is interesting and leads me to beleive he is actually suppose to represent the second aladin.

As we know in the original aladin sorry Aladin has a mother who helps him win over the princess, and isn't an orphan and street rat. Example Arajin.

While the Disney Aladin, is a street rather whos an orphan, and its interesting how we haven't seen Asamines parents yet and his brither was taken away from Julie and he clearly lives in not as nice of a place as Arajin. But I also think he is suppose to be a mix of bith Aladin and Jasmine due to how compassionate he is and also how determined he is when it comes to defend g what he perceives as important . Also the fact that his best friends Zabu and Komao remind me alott of Rajah [jasmine's pet tiger] and Abu [Aladins pet monkey ]

This leads me to think that Akutaro Shindo is suppose to represent Jafar if we go by the Disney version of Aladin, from his personality and the fact there's a literal snake sound effect when he's on screen. and Asamines older brother rin place of the Sultun while I originally thought Ken would be in place of the sullen as his name is closer to King. It makes more sense now after episode 4 for Asamines brother to be in the place of sultan for a multitude of reasons.

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 4 AHEAD.

In episode 4 we got a good look at many of the characters, and trust me I have ALOTT of thoughts. But for now I will focus on Asamines brother and the hinted at relationship he had with Shindo.

Shindo as we now know used to he apart of [blue team yes I'm calling them that because I cannot for the life of me remember the group names yet] and thanks to Zabu talking smack to him this episode we found out he was kicked out.

We can also assume around this time is when Asamines brother went to Juvie so im going to assume until I'm proven otherwise thay these two are directly connected rhat Asamines brother was involved with getting him kicked out. This could lead him to hold a grudge agaisnt Asamines older brother and by accociation Asamine. It also could he possiable that he's kicking up a fuss now because he knows Asamines brother is back soon.

With Asamines brother being the sulten we can see his older brother cares for him and looked after him. Maybe even sheltered him seeing how frail and not buffed up Asamine was before his departure to juvie. According to Asamine his brother wanted the group to represent self strength and not to go around starting fights for no reason so he intents to keep it that way until his brother returns.

If that is the case I can see the Jafar. ALADIN . Jasmine and Sulten conflict playing out in this show though differently. As we know Shindo has his own genie as in the original tale of Aladin there were two. Our regular genie and then the genie trapped by the sourcer in the ring.

That if Asamine does go directly to Shindo with the new infomation like he was planning to do. That directly leads him to where Arajn and Shindo are fighting. Enter the conflict.

Asamine is clearly being followed around by something. I think it is the genie attached to Shindo. That they eaither feel connected to Asamine more than Shindo or Shindo is using them to spy around on Asamine.

Eaither way, if Shindo doesn't know who Asamine is he certainly will when Arajen says his name. Probualy yells at him for always showing up.

Shindo will perk up at the name because its Interesting to me that they haven't been in the same scene together yet. Yet Zabu and Komao have been in the same scene as Shindo as though they are saving it for something.

Regardless. This will lead to Shindo wanting Asamine in his team. Eaither for his connection to the genie. Or to get back at Asamines older brother for what ever happend between them.

Which between this AND the Mahoro and Asamine scene would cause an even bigger divide between Asamine and Arajen.

#J4: Kids conquering dungeons to change the world

A Magi is a magician whose inclination toward magic is so immense that they can be said to shape the world. With their significant influence, each Magi chooses a worthy candidate to become a king, then helps them conquer strange labyrinths called "Dungeons" and acquire the power of mythical djinns within. Above all else, the Magi supervises their elected representative as they build a country that might one day bring the world to its knees.

Aladdin is a young Magi wandering the world in search of his true self. However, his journey is not a lonely one, as he is accompanied by his friend and mentor Ugo—a djinn he summons using his flute. On his travels, Aladdin also befriends Alibaba Saluja and guides him to a nearby Dungeon. With this newfound friendship, they begin an epic adventure across the world, witnessing various irregularities that seem more frequent than ever.

#J5: Girls live in a school, but not by choice

Carefree high school senior Yuki Takeya looks forward to the School Living Club every day. Consisting of the president Yuuri Wakasa, the athletic Kurumi Ebisuzawa, the mature Miki Naoki, the supervising teacher Megumi Sakura, and club dog Taroumaru, the club prides itself on making the most of life at school. There is only one rule the club members have to follow: all members must live their entire lives within school grounds.

#J4: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

Propaganda 1:

Imagine characters from Arabian Nights/1001 Nights coming to life in an anime. Even though it is loosely inspired off of the tales, it is a unique time and place from most anime settings. It has action, humor, and deep concepts. One of my favorite parts about Magi is how well-developed the background characters are.

Propaganda 2:

This anime has a lot of philosophical takes on what fate is. Basically, is everything that happened to you caused by a force you can’t control or is it what you make of it? Is there something or rather someone pulling the strings on what should or shouldn’t be? Is the person you are because you were lucky or unlucky to be born in the wealthy family or not? Why are things the way they are? Why was I dealt with a shitty hand in life? Is it because I’ll never amount to anything, or is something doing this to me? Why are we here just to suffer kind of deal, but you know not the meme version, the really sad and real version. Then you have the side of the people who may have not had the best life, but found a way out of it. Why do some people get to feel the light when you went through the same thing, but still lost and in the dark?

Trigger Warnings: Partial nudity and slavery. One of the mains is a slave in the beginning, but the other two mains help free her from that.

Propaganda:

If you like Madoka Magica, you’ll 100% like this series. It’s hard to explain without spoilers, but it has a huge plot twist in the first episode. The anime is a short one with only 12 episodes, but it has an amazing manga as well! It mixes a cute slice of life high school anime with a darker plot, and it’s handled so well. It doesn’t seem like it’s just dark for the sake of being edgy like some other similar series. It covers topics like mental health and grief well, and it has as happy of an ending as possible for a series like this. The plot twists were executed so well, and I was sobbing by the end of the series.
