Astrology observations #2

-people who lack an element in their chart really do surround themselves with a lot of people in said element. for example, my friend lacks earth and has at least 4 friends who are earth sun signs

-some capricorns really can't get along with leos, but they are attracted to sag and aries placements. they can't help it

i know it's "haha april fool's day, they're stuck in a futuristic city and rui wants to study the silly sekai aliens" but like... hear me out

im pretty sure these 4 were picked because they all have one major thing in common— the fact that they were failed by society.

kaito v1 was a commercial failure on release, to the point where other vocal synth companies looked at his low sales and consequently made less male vocal synths— leading to the large gender gap in vocal synths that we still have today (although its less than what it was ~5 yrs ago imo). i think clpl actually considered this when picking kaito for this unit solely because it's vbs kaito— the kaito that most strongly resembles old fanon kaito in how he can easily be described as a carefree dumbass that loves icecream.

rui was ostracized his whole life for being "dangerous" with his shows by his classmates, as well as being isolated because of how he was "different" from the other kids (implied neurodivergent). this lead to rui struggling with depression as well as a myriad of other issues (such as his abandonment issues) later on.

akito was ALSO ostracized for being too serious about his passions and having a "bad attitude", which lead to him developing an inferiority complex as well as leading to him essentially being overly polite to strangers because of his past trauma where he was publicly humiliated, had his reputation ruined, and brought disgrace to a place he loved just for accidentally spilling water on someone 💀 (find a way out is so real) ((also i choose to see akito as neurodivergent mainly because of how his behavior is framed idk i feel like him being overly polite is him masking, esp. when u compare his behavior between different people.. recent example: how he acts around rui vs how he acts around mafuyu for example)) (((also, he's rui's narrative foil, so it just makes a lot of sense???)))

Shadow was initially created with the intention of being a Weapon Against Humanity. after a life-altering incident, G.U.N. takes Shadow into their custody, raising him to become one of their top agents, exploiting him.

he's constantly under government surveillance... inhibitor rings (developed by G.U.N.) are clamped onto him like a shock collar so he is unable to tap into his full power. (Shadow has neither tested nor does he know the extent of his strength.. he has never tried removing them. G.U.N. is the only one who can remove them.)

the hypocritical method in wanting their weapon (cough trained dog) to exercise and develop restraint on his own terms, and yet forcefully acclimating him.

Shadow’s aware of his past. Definitely struggles with Existential dread about why he’s on Earth and what he was made for. he wants to (and feels like he should) do good, but if he was initially made with destructive intent… is he compensating this way? is this what he really wants? no.. he shouldn't think like that.. Maria would want him to be good..

If not to make the world the better a place, if they still treat his kind as inferior and sometimes, even a threat to the whole human race, does humanity and this planet still deserve its rite for redemption? What is humanity? Is that something he’s capable of, as a weapon of mass destruction?

what is he trying to prove here? His docility? His ability to be obedient and be, by human standards, good? what does that mean in a world that may never accept them, and much less him- a synthetic and all-unnatural organism forged from humanity’s worst and an alien race only capable of Evil and wrongdoing. a being so perfectly suited for any and all forms of persecution. Aang's forgiveness @ Zuko always hits me so hard and I think it's because it's more than forgiveness. I think Aang truly understands where Zuko is coming from on an almost painful level.

I mean like, if someone told Aang there was a way he could go back home, that there was a way to bring back all the people he lost, how much would Aang be willing to do for that? How much of himself would he lose and sacrifice just for that chance?

Also, when Zuko comes to ask to join them the second time, he says "I've been through a lot in the past few years, and it's been hard. But I'm realizing that I had to go through all those things to learn the truth. I thought I had lost my honor, and that somehow my father could return it to me."

This sounds like the mash up of a few things Aang has said, from when he met baby Hope, "I've been going through a really hard time lately," (a hard time that has led to him doing things he regrets) and when he woke up after Ba Sing Se "I need to redeem myself. I need my honor back." (An idea that led to him making a bad decision) Aang knows that it has been the process of going through these struggles that have made him who he is.

And then to quote some tags from @theavatarandthefirelord from this post "#he's thinking about their relationship esp since their moments in The Storm/The Blue Spirit #also the way aang sees himself reflected in zuko as well #primarily with him burning katara but also moments like in The Desert #and losing control in the Avatar State"

Aang also relates to Zuko's anger issues. He intimately knows the mindset that leads someone to do bad things and, unlike the others (for example Katara) Aang also understand the guilt and regret that comes after it, the same guilt and regret Zuko shows in this scene.

Zuko doesn't just explain himself, he explains Aang as well.

I love the forgiveness trope that's so often featured in this ship, esp in fics, and part of why I love it is because it's not blind forgiveness, it's 'I've been there, and I could've gone down similar paths given different circumstances, to forgive you is to forgive myself'

Talking with my friend @injestedsoap about what it would be like to date the 141 guys~

Ghost: Hesitant, and would be extremely reluctant to date a civilian. I feel like he's a short term relationship kinda guy, but he's a gentleman when he's with you and he tries his best to make the experience at least somewhat memorable. Charming in his own quiet way and is a sucker for someone who not only gets his lame jokes, but laughs at them. Is more than a bit guarded esp if he's with you during a mission, but he can skate around an unwelcome conversation just fine. Not a perfect boyfriend, but he tries even if you have to pry him out of his shell little by little.

Gaz: Almost tries too hard to be perfect and normal. He knows how busy he can be and the time you spend together seems to get less and less. He has a bad habit of overcompensating. Big romantic dinners, long days spent in bed, and him trying so very hard to be attentive to your issues (even if he can't relate to them). Has more anxiety than he let's on esp when he's not in the field. Patient and understanding, but I feel like he needs someone who makes him stop and calm down. Chill in a very quard dog way, but friendly overall.

Price: Same with Gaz, but he can be distant. That doesn't mean he doesn't love you, but it's been ingrained within him to keep his private life separate from his personal. workaholic and an ex alcoholic, he tries his best to be as mentally present with you as possible.He feels guilty 90% of the time when he sees a house that looks lived in, but lonely. Would def be insecure about how much he doesn't think he deserves you, and tries to buy your forgiveness (even if there's nothing to forgive) with gifts. Bit of a hopeless romantic, but you'll never hear it from him. Would come home with a puppy for you tho

Soap: Falls in love fast and quick, and burns out twice as fast. Can be a bit intense at first, but he's loyal. Weirdly observant, and is the type to bring you a present from some forgotten conversation betweenn the two of you. Much more comfortable being FWB with someone as relationships aren't his go to. Compared to the others, he's more well adjusted to being in a relationship and he's a good boyfriend all things considering. Struggles to relate to civillians at times, and is used to being around soldiers. Can be distant and a bit dismissive, but he doesn't always mean it THAT way. prefacing this with some important info for fellow disorganized scatterbrains!!!!

the main reason why ppl have trouble sticking to a lifestyle change is because they try to make very drastic changes too quick, and you get overwhelmed and it becomes unsustainable. this is especially an issue for neurodivergent folks, and since it's Tumblr I assume a good chunk of y'all are (me too dw)

DON'T immediately overhaul ur diet and hit the gym 5x a week from day 1!!! hitting tiny goals consistently is also more rewarding than working towards one very large arbitrary goal that you might not reach, esp when it comes to working out. start veeery small if u need to, such as only 10 bodyweight squats per day like i did and go from there. you wanna program ur brain into feeling accomplished to keep you motivated. patience is key!!!!

ok!! now onto the more detailed info below

Disclaimer: I'm still a newbie myself!! only consistently lifting heavy for about 3 months as of this post. I did a good deal of excessive info diving on lifting using the power of Sheer Autism, and my main gym buddy is very experienced & taught me a good chunk of this shit so shout-out to my pal for making all this possible xoxo

so good news!! "building muscle" is very easy for beginners starting from zero. newbie gainz are absolutely real. at this stage you can do just about anything at the gym and get stronger bc u can only go up. BUT!! if you structure it, you can make the process enjoyable and much more efficient. if you're goal oriented (lookin at u ADHD menaces), you'll love the concept progressive overload.

PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD & SETS/REPS

wikipedia defines progressive overload as: a method of strength training and hypertrophy training that advocates for the gradual increase of the stress placed upon the musculoskeletal and nervous system. in layman's terms, it just means gradually adding more weight as you work out to increase the difficulty as you get stronger. progress is VERY easy to track because of this, and you'll be hitting PRs pretty much every week for the first couple of months and that shit feels fantastic because you physically feel yourself getting stronger so rapidly. I use the app Strong to track my workouts. so, how do we structure progressive overload? that's through sets/reps. A rep is a single execution of an exercise. 1 squat is one rep. 2 squat is 2 reps. and so on. A set is a collection of reps. The format is Sets x Reps, for example: 3x5 means 3 sets of 5 reps. You will rest between sets, and it's typically anywhere from 1 minute all the way up to 5 minutes depending on the level of exertion/type of training you are doing. Heavier weights mean longer rest periods and vice versa.

WHERE DO I EVEN START??

For those interested in barbell training: the r/fitness beginner routine is pretty good! I also recommend 5x5 stronglifts. both are very straightforward, but also note the typical olympic barbell is 45lbs. If this is a weight you struggle with, you can begin with bodyweight exercises, dumbbells, or machines at the gym which are all very BEGINNER beginner friendly. especially when it comes to legs you're probably much stronger than you think. Most people can squat 45lbs first try. don't be afraid -- you're standing on those things all day, they can support hella weight. Like I mentioned earlier, don't be afraid to start veeeery small and work your way up from there. I started at home with doing only bodyweight squats without the barbell, then added on benching with light 7lb dumbbells after a week, then impulse signed up for a gym membership a month later and began to go there to use equipment and now i'm deadlifting over 100lbs as a tiny girl that previously was too weak to even lift a 40lb dog. it snowballs quicker than you think once you gain confidence in your own body and its abilities!

WOAH I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SQUAT/DEADLIFT/BENCH/THIS IS SCARY AND IM FUCKING UP

If you can, i highly recommend getting a personal trainer to assist you, or tag along with a gymrat pal to show you the ropes. This page is also a good resource to learn specific lifts. otherwise, youtube is your best friend. you can record your sets and compare your form to form tutorials on youtube, and actively take notes on what to change the next time you work out. Be an active learner!!! be aware of what muscles are engaged when you lift and how your body feels. almost NOBODY gets it right the first time, esp with barbells. we've all made fools out of ourselves at the gym as beginners it's chill. i find people at the gym are very nice and willing to help you out if you're struggling, and people don't judge at all-- it's very easy to get in your own head in these spaces but most humans there are supportive and want you to succeed, especially since it's a hobby they are also passionate about. the more you do it, the less anxious you get. exposure therapy is very effective!! Also, almost all the barbell exercises can be replaced with smaller dumbbells, and you can do them at home if you get your own set + a workout bench (pretty cheap if u get secondhand, check facebook marketplace/craigslist). i got mad social anxiety myself so i understand sometimes you just can't, and this is an option for those that find public spaces overwhelming.

DIET

I personally don't think specialized diets/precise macro tracking is super duper important for newbies/casuals, only moderately important (spicy take for some but whatever). but you probably naturally will take an interest in diet once you realize it'll help you perform significantly better in the gym. the only macro i track is protein. You can use a TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) calculator to roughly estimate the amount of protein you need for maximum gainz. it's usually around .7-1g of protein for every pound of lean body mass (weight that isn't fat mass). Imma be real it's pretty hard for me to hit the recommended protein goal and most days I don't because my appetite just can't kick in for the amount it demands, and protein is super filling. I found that if i decreased the amount of carbs i eat, i am able to consume more protein bc i guess there's more room in my stomach lol. i eat a fuck ton of greek yogurt, chicken, fish, and tofu. when i started working out, i begin cooking a lot more and found i naturally craved less processed junk foods and snacks because the protein was keeping me full all day which is a plus! Even when im not regularly hitting my protein goal my gym progress is still going well and I think it's simply because my diet is A LOT better than what it used to be in my gremlin days. I also eat a lot more now that i've gained a bit of muscle, so do be prepared for food costs to go up as your metabolism increases and demands more energy to upkeep your gainz.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR ME TO LOOK LIKE A MUSCLE MOMMY????

a whileeee. over a year, probably, unless if you're on anabolic steroids (dont ever do that u will quite literally die). and physique is mostly from diet since it's dependent on your body fat percentage, the saying "abs are made in the kitchen" is true. its why you see hyper skinny terminally indoors gamer dudes with abs, even if they'd snap in half if you farted in their general direction. those mfs barely eat they too busy being gamers i am no longer interested in lifting for aesthetics personally since i get more joy from hitting PRs and i'm pretty content with my body image, but ik physique is the reason why most people get into lifting so i'll touch on it. Weightlifting on its own will not make you lose weight or fat. Again, it needs to be supplemented with a healthy sustainable diet (DO NOT DO CRASH DIETS THAT SHIT IS GARBAGE) and a form of cardio. I actually gained 8lbs since I began lifting from water retention & new muscle mass (muscle is more dense than fat, your body retains water when repairing muscle after a gym sesh) but my measurements and pants size have remained the same. I'm short, so something as small as a 5lb increase usually bumped me up a pants size but it didn't this time bc im gettin swole :') if you want to track physique changes, measuring your waistline & progress pics is a better way to do so than the scale. If you want bigger muscles, look into hypertrophy training. it's a tad different from strength training, mainly because you do higher reps at a lower weight.

Hi! So you can call this a rant or a vent or whatever I don't rlly care - I just wanted to put some of my opinions out there bc it is eating me inside out to keep my opinions on Alastor's sexuality and all of the discourse about him being shipped to myself.

Also i'd like to state that I'm writing this as someone who is aroace but has no actual wish to be in a romantic relationship and actually struggles to so much as picture what that's be like for myself. I would also like to state how I'm not speaking for the whole community and others will have different opinions to myself.

Firstly - aroace is a spectrum (as someone who is on the aroace spectrum btw) and I completely agree with ppl who say that it is a spectrum and shipping has always existed and you can't rlly stop an entire fandom. My only problem is when ppl completely ignore that he is aroace while doing this, bc to me it seems like there's so much potential to having him have to go through those types of emotions and to write him off as if he's completely allo not only can make some people feel unseen but also just isn't as fun.

Also I kind of believe that he'd possibly date someone for the entertainment - like even if he didn't exactly feel romantic attraction maybe he'd be willing to be around someone closely bc he might like the reactions he'd be getting. Normally when I hear about this degree it’s most of the time negative, which in a way, is understandable. However having this degree in your chart shouldn’t make you scared that bad things will happen to you. The 22 degree can manifest really positively in a persons life but it can cause some hardships as well. All in all, this post isn’t meant to scare anyone who have these placements.

Haven’t done an observation post in foreverrr so here we go. :) 

👾 Aquarius suns whether they want to admit it or not, LOVE hearing about gossip and drama. Despite being aloof, they are still air signs. They wanna hear the tea. 

👾 Moon-Jupiter aspects give big/prominent boobies. 

👾 Aries suns either spend money like it’s nothing or are totally frugal. 

👾 Vesta Conjunct Sun in synastry scares me a little. It can be a great aspect, but I feel more often than not the Vesta person tends to put the sun person on a pedestal and deifies them. I had this with my ex, and for a lot of the relationship I always put the blame on myself because I saw him as this person who fixed me and could do no wrong. 

👾A lot of Ceres aspects (3 or more) can make someone very curvy/thick. 

👾 Libra Mars got that cake. 

👾 Cancer suns and Scorpio suns I just don’t dig as a couple and here’s why. I feel like Scorpios tend to use the Cancers to heal themselves and they tend to form trauma bonds with Cancers. Obviously this isn’t always the case, but I don’t see them as the perfect soulmates that everyone says they are. I think Cancer + Pisces works well and Cancers with earth signs. 👾Some aspects I’ve noticed that tend to indicate a romantic relationship (or at least potential for it i.e. one person asking out the other) in the Composite chart are: North Node in the 7th, Vertex in the 7th, Juno in the 7th, asteroid Valentine 447 in the 7th house, asteroid Frigga 27 aspecting Venus, and Vertex Conj. Descendant. Some of these are from @factsrological !

👾Aries suns are noodges. LMFAO. They know how to annoy people and push their buttons. 

👾I’ve noticed sapphic women tend to have Venus-Uranus, Mars-Uranus Mars-Neptune, and/or Venus-Neptune placements. Minor degrees included. Not every single woman who has it will be sapphic, but I’ve never noticed a sapphic woman without one. I’ve also noticed Asteroid Sappho making aspects to angles, personal planets, or in angular houses in sapphic women as well. Also for aspecting personal planets and angles, I’ve noticed there usually are 3+ aspects, but this isn’t always the case. For example I have Venus quincunx Neptune, Mars quincunx Neptune, and Sappho aspecting my midheaven, chart ruler (Jupiter), and Saturn. I spent over an hour looking at different charts of sapphic celebrities and that was the general consensus. 

👾Gemini rising stares are underrated. Scorpio risings and Gemini risings have that same smoldering look, except Gemini risings have a more mischievous smoldering look whereas with Scorpio risings its dark and intense. I’ve mistaken Gemini risings for Scorpio risings before. 

👾People with a prominent Asteroid Casanova tend to be players and flirt a lot. People with harsh Casanova aspects esp to their Mars tend to be unfaithful in relationships. I’ve noticed this more in men though.

👾Life of a Cancer stellium: Always being right about people and situations but no one ever listens to you.

👾 I’ve noticed ALOT of Capricorn suns have issues with their father. If not issues, their father greatly influences their lives for better or for worse.

👾 Pluto in the 1st all have the death stare. It’s no joke. LMAO. Every single person I know including myself have this and give scary death stares. Al Pacino has this and you’ve seen his stares in Scarface.  

👾I’ve noticed Cancer placements if sleepy and not near a bed they’ll try to make their own makeshift bed, like when I was at school between classes I would line up a bunch of chairs next to each other and lay down and use my backpack as a pillow. My old boss who’s also a Cancer got a lounge chair and would bend it all the way back and put a giant cushion on it and sleep in the back room.

👾Everyone talks about asteroids conjunct your ascendant, but never talk about the oppositions. I feel like the conjunctions have more of a “comfortable” effect if you will and oppositions can be more strongly felt and are uncomfortable. Like I have asteroid Apollo opposition my ascendant, and I’ve had so many people who try to challenge me, and be intimidated by me for no reason LMAO. Since Apollo conjunct ascendant deals with power and people looking up to someone, I have people trying to “take my power away” and “fight me” for it if you will. Weird shit. Maybe I’ll do a post about it.

👾Thinking about the time my co-worker liked my other co-worker and she tried to flirt with him by asking for a bite of his ice cream and he told her to get her own. He’s an Aquarius and she’s a Libra, I think that says enough. LMAO.

They just tend to think about shit over and over again. Because of this, I think this also is an anxiety placement since there’s so much overthinking and not being able to move on from past events. Myself and the other people I know with this placement all have some form of an anxiety disorder.

AITA for leaving my partner on read when they start to put themself down in conversations?

Some personal context is that I (they/any, 23) have pretty bad depression and struggle with other mental illnesses. I used to have a bunch of self worth issues, and it’s a constant battle for me to not fall back into that trap. One of the biggest things my therapist I have found for me to stay away from old habits is that a few years ago I set up a boundary where conversations with me are a “no self-deprecation zone.” Other people degrading themselves is a big trigger for my own negative thoughts about myself, so I try to distance myself from that when possible.

What people do on their own is their business, but if someone is going to sit there and use me to put themself down? Fuck that, actually.

back to my relationship drama though:

My partner, who we’ll call C. (they, 22), used to be pretty understanding of this when we started dating about a year ago, but recently we’re both going through a lot of personal stress, and their reaction to this has been to use whatever they’re stressed about as a weapon against themself.

If someone forgets a plan they’ve made, its okay because C’s “always been pretty forgettable.” If they need help in any way they will go on about how they’re a burden and a POS. Not long ago I was hurt in an accident on my way home from work, and their response when I told them was to apologize because “this is all because you are trying to support me… I’m sorry.” This made me, the person in the E.R., feel obligated to put aside my own physical hurt and need for comfort to give them emotional support and promise it wasn’t all their fault and that it wasn’t that bad.

It feels like every conversation devolves into this. I’ve been doing a combo of reassuring them that everything’s fine, while still being like “I’m not comfortable with the language we’re using here,” but it’s just nonstop. I’ve kinda given up on talking through it with them (esp when any time I talk about any issues I’m having they decide to use it to self-flagellate) and have just begun letting the convo die when they start to get like that. Hearing them speak like that makes me feel like shit, but I also feel like an asshole for ignoring my partner, especially when it’s clear that they’re going through it.

(also inb4 “they/you both need therapy!”: I agree! you right!! We were in couples counseling for a few months but that had to stop because they have moved out of state for a little while for work reasons. they keep saying they’ll seek out individual counseling, but that has yet to happen.)
