In all honesty, you should have seen this coming at some point or another.

Running into any of the old castmates was very easy now that you've been connected with a majority of them.

And that included Alejandro.

Sure, you saw him at the finale, but this felt different.

For the first few days, you were able to avoid him pretty well.

After what happened last time, you didn't want any chance at getting close or vulnerable.

It's All-Stars, after all, so who knows what it will cost you this time when Alejandro decides to plot against you.

Unfortunately, he was just as persistent to talk to you.

Something about wanting to make amends for what happened last time.

For once, he seemed......sincere---which was a bit unsettling for a look on him.

Listen, he might not be the most well spoken person, or one to openly speak his mind and feelings in public. Though, when it's just the two of you, he doesn't have any problem at all with putting his love into words. Maybe not the most romantic or poetic words, but they are true nonetheless. Not only does he know this is important, but also he was very openly loved as a child, so being open about his affection for the person he loves seems natural enough.

3rd. Physical Touch

Not an overly clingy person and not at all a fan of pda, but he enjoys the closeness of touch. Especially a big fan of small touches, soft little things like holding hands, brushing your hair behind your ear, caressing your head, or even having your arm wrapped around his. Also, when at home, he likes to be close together, like an arm around your shoulder, or having one leg wrapped around yours while you sit side by side.

4th. Acts of Devotion

Sometimes he forgets he needs to do the boring but useful things too. It's not that he doesn't want to help, it just doesn't cross his mind quite as much. Genuinely, he wants more to be doing fun things with you and enjoy your hobbies together. But if you ask for help, he always helps with no complaints.

Bad at coming up with gift ideas, and feels terrible anxiety from the pressure when he needs to find a gift. Also, since there are so many options of things to buy, even when he has some idea of what general thing you'd like, he ends up overwhelmed by the many choices. He feels like everybody else has this nailed down and he doesn't, so he feels bad.

Look. We all know Astarion doesn't enjoy the drow twins, but i've seen people make the point that the player couldn't have known beforehand, that Astarion gave enthusiastic consent and we shouldn't coddle him. To an extent, i agree. However, people need to realise that the option you have when he confesses to say "You should learn to enjoy sex again. With me." (slightly paraphrased) and the option you have to tell the drow twins "and i hope my partner will join us as well" are virtually the same thing. Both times the player makes the same point, that Astarion should get over himself and put out again. The only difference is that when he gives consent for the drow twins, it's after you've helped him defeat Cazador.

Now, the first time, at the confession, if you tell him to sleep with you he agrees (albeit less enthusiastically), but in the end breaks up with you and calls you selfish. With the twins, he agrees more enthusiastically, does not enjoy it, and does not talk to you about it afterwards. It's not far fetched to assume that after you've helped him kill Cazador, he feels indebted to you, because it's very hard to see relationships as anything other than transactional after 200 years, even if you love this person and they love you back. In-game there are only a few days max that pass between him refusing the drow twins and him agreeing vigorously, with Cazador dying inbetween. You can say he finally feels safe after he's dead, enough to try new things, but his partner should not be proposing foursomes twice in a week, after being told no once, and expect (and accept!) his yes without question. (especially after something as traumatic as him murdering his master - yes, it's cathartic, but it's also not easy emotionally, the way he sobs after it happens is proof enough)

What it boils down to is this: people don't want to feel bad for making Astarion do the drow scene, but for me, i had the same reaction to both dialogue options i mentioned the first time i saw them, which was a vague sense of disgust. Especially since the sentence "and i hope my partner will join us as well" gives Astarion even less agency imo than the confession dialogue. You're telling him you want him to do this, in front of other people, and you don't even ask if he wants it, just imply it would make you happy. At this point he will not break up with you the way he does after the confession goes awry, because you've done too much for him, but it is still extremely scummy for his partner to do this, and the parralels make it very clear that this is not something he actually wants.

oooo-, I've never heard of that game, I'll try and base them off a classic occultist-so sorry I only did the first years because I wasn't super sure on what else to write 😭

now, people's definition of "real" magic varies greatly, so I won't go into huge detail about it but it'll just mention "rituals" in non specific ways

(contents: mentions of rituals, "satanic" rituals (in ace's part), harming oneself in for said ritual (briefly mentioned in Ortho's section)

Now, the first years I think would all be a bit... creeped out, because they have magic... but not... rituals to perform them. Ace is probably the most critical of it, calling it some satanic shit, but you can easily shut him up by shooting him a glare. I do think that he'd probably ease into it the more you talk about it and explain it, realizing that it's not as creepy as he thought. Deuce is also creeped out, but he's more accepting at first than Ace was, he won't really wanna watch you do any rituals because it'll just give him chills. I do think that after while he'll start to warm up, maybe helping you get any things needed for your rituals... but he's still leaving the room because he's terrified of how creepu you look when doing it.

I feel like Epel would be one of the least creep out, because something I've noticed about a good portion of grandparents is they'll warn you of any tales and superstitions they have, so Epel probably is at least a little cautious of rituals and such. Once he learns that you're not like.. killing children and just causing great pain upon anyone and everyone, he'll chill out about it, but he'll make a few friendly jabs about you being a "freak". Jack definitely doesn't like it, he thinks it's dangerous. Even once he learns that it's not terribly dangerous, he still disapproves and makes it obvious he does, but if his comments start to upset you he'll shut up and keep his criticisms to himself.

Sebek is a special case-because some occult traditions can also be similar to fae tales, so he's not terribly criticizing of it as it seems a whole lot more normal to him than some others. Honestly I think he'd be pretty accepting of it, maybe he'd join in on any rituals you needed another person for, letting you draw any symbols you might need on his hand, especially to protect you if something goes wrong... he'll deny that no matter what though. Ortho I also think wouldn't really care, he'd probably do some research with what he can find online and try to help you in anyway you might need, such as getting you any hard time find items that you need for the ritual, and if any ritual requires you having to harm yourself in anyway he'll probably find a alternative option.

Gale's ambition and the orb's hunger

Rambling about Gale's ambition after seeing the alternative ending dialogue for Gale. Spoilers for the entirety of his story.

This dialogue shows that even though Mystra doesn't rid Gale fo the orb, after defeating the Netherbrain his orb seems to change. It's hunger, gone.

Did Mystra quiet the orb?

If the player asks about it being Mystra's influence, Gale doesn't deny it could be Mystra, but refers that the orb's hunger was fuelled with his own. I have seen some origin spoilers for Gale that Mystra does apparently tell him that the orb is a consequence of his actions - this is why she hasn't "done" anything about it. It's a punishment.

It wouldn't make sense in this timeline that she would rid Gale of his orb because during the game, he didn't obey Mystra at all. While it could be possible that Mystra would do it out of "well you saved the world, I guess that's good enough" reward, she never really presented that as an option. She wanted the crown. Saving the world was seemingly secondary to her.

What we know about the orb previously?

So, just to know if Gale being content would affect the orb, we should consider what it does to him. Thorought the game, we get several references it being compared to hunger directly. "Clawing my insides like a teething displacer kitten"; narrator describing the hunger when he shows the orb to you; his condition is called "Arcane Hunger".

His treatment is literally feeding pure weave to it, and this is also what Mystra does once Elminster places her charm on him. It seems like the Karsite weave is to made to consume weave. He descibes that consuming the magic "never feels right, but it relieves".

We can't talk about the orb without mentioning Karsus. There's also a lot of mentions about Karsus being ambitious, same as with Gale, especially after hitting act 3. We know that Gale was ambitious even before the game - his orb is the consequence of that ambition, when he wanted to prove himself worthy of wielding more power to Mystra.

Was the orb's hunger strenghtened by the tadpole and the Crown?

Gale doesn't seem to know that the orb is Netherese until Mystra tells it is Karsus' creation. Gale seems to know the orb is Netherese origin, but doesn't connect it to Karsus until Mystra tells him. We also know from the hag, if we try her let help us with the tadpole, that the tadpole is imbued with Netherese magic. Gale's offhanded comment about the orb destabilizing because of Netherese sandals seems like a joke to me, but his condition started to decline eventually when he was tadpoled, until Mystra starts to feed it.

I think being near the crown also affected Gale. During his romance scene in act 2, he mentions about feeling the heart of Absolute, and how much heavier his heart becomes. It could be a metaphor just him sensing being closer to death, but what if it is actually a physical sensation he feels being nearer the crown? He can't feel the hunger anymore that the orb would cause, because it is being fed.

If you kill Elminster before he can set the charm on Gale, the end of act 2 is the furthest you can get Gale to come with you until he leaves permanently, because the orb gets so destabilized he feels it's not safe to be around you anymore. This could be the Crown's influence on him overtaking his hunger.

Act 3 - Physical hunger is gone, but the mental hunger lingers

The reason why I keep repeating that the orb is being fed, is that it's important to understand that Gale doesn't feel the orb's hunger physically, but the mental hunger still is there. Ambition. This is why there is quite a swap in Gale's demeanor once he sees the Crown - I believe the orb somehow influences the wizard's ambitions, similarly to Karsus.

At this point, the player has quite the impact on how Gale wil handle his ambition. I will talk only about romance standpoint since it's the one I'm familar with. If you choose him to give up on his ambitions with the crown, you have to convince him that he is enough as he is. This is a completely new situation for him - he always has strived to be better and do more. He doesn't know how to just be. Of course he wants to survive the battle with the Netherbrain, but after that? What ambitions he would have anymore? The orb has nothing to work with anymore - the tadpoles are dead, the brain is dead, the Crown is shattered in the Chiontar.

What about if you encourage his ambitions? His mindset seems to shift quite drastically compared to when we met him. He's feeding into the resentment for believing Mystra took his powers and that she didn't give him more than what he deserved in his mind.

A small side tangent: With Patch 4, Larian added a glow effect to the orb while he says the line about controlling the Karsite weave. I've been thinking about the symbolism for it - is it a power flare up? It is the same effect which Mystra's charm has, does it mean that Mystra stopped feeding Gale's orb?

Whatever it is, at this point Gale has completely changed. During the boat scene he says he doesn't wish to ascend, but now he wants to be a god. If Tav tries to tell him not to do it, he emotionlessly leaves them. Let that sink in. The hopeless romantic, who shared his spirit with his lover, assured how there is no force to come between them and disobeyed his goddess for them, leaves them for more power without hesitation.

And that isn't even the worst part of it. Disclaimer: Datamining is never "a sure way to know what the devs intented" and shouldn't be used as a true point for canon, but let's humor my angsty mood with it. According to the datamined endings that Withers would have told what happened the companions after the game, even if Tav would support sharing Gale's godhood, Gale never returns to Tav to fulfill it because ambition doesn't like to share. That shows how much Gale changes during the game if his ambition takes over. Maybe even claim that the orb's hunger takes over. ** Strikethrough added after patch 5, see my note in the end.

To end this on a more positive note, him overcoming that toxic ambition is huge, and the fact that he would feel content by Tav's side is really romantic considering all what could have happened.

** Added after patch 5 and epilogue stuff: I won't be typing out what happens in the epilogue (I have posted the outcome to Youtube if someone is curious), but needless to say, it's a good point on never trusting datamining as a canon point. But, the epilogue proves that original datamining point obsolete.

Oh that sucks well. Technically, you r being productive by talking to people. Also, I'm new to writing fanfic, and I'm worried about upsetting anyone, especially onyx. As I want to ask onyx questions about lore and others about their ocs, but I don't want to bother anyone and asks get lost easily or people don't have ask open. So any advice

'm not a expert in all the social thing stuff, but i think the first right step to work with other stories/ocs is asking them directly for permmission via dm, and asking for input there.

yeah you don't want to bother anyone, but i personally believe is better ask first for permmision and ideas from the source, 'cause yeah i may give you all permmission to use Sunny and Lizzy in riders related stuff, BUT that between the lines of their characters.

Yeah you can draw/write Sunny getting shy at someone flirting with him, that in character. No, you can't draw/write Sunny flirting back/been interesed in someone, any relationship for him/with him need to be talked with me (i would gladly talk about how Sunny would interact with a new friend or even to someone having a crush on him, just ask me about it).

The same with Lizzy, 'm slowly showing her story, so there not a lot to share of her, that why i hadn't make canon all interactions of her with other ocs (the only one i had accepted is the one with Asahi, 'cause even some fanarts with North crew could fall into noncanon territory due the final 'm looking to give her). So you can use her, but most probably it going to be a non-canon interaction, since 'm trying to piece her story right.

NOW that on me! Other users could be less strict with their ocs, and others be more strict, but that why is important to ask first!

And about Onyx, they seems really nice to interact with as an audience, they probably have asks closed for the same reason i sometimes stop answer to asks: spams and uncomfortable asks tend to invade our kind of blogs. That make it hard for us to interact in a comfortable way with our audience, but that doesn't mean we don't want to interact with them! you just need to look for a right way to approach them, been by a comment in the right post, or directly send them a dm asking if you could make them some questions related to their au (this option AFTER you make sure you looked at all their posts and confirmed that the info you're looking for isn't in there, this show you already made your work into learning about the project), sure, maybe some things Onyx wouldn't be able to share 'cause it could be spoiler, and that's okay, you can work with that idea once the oficial info get out, or work with hcs (like i did with Lizzy in the beggining, were i hc that the cult used poppy flowers for the red smoke like in the original game, later Onyx confirmed that, but if they would end up denied it, i would had to change my hc, 'cause i decided to take the risk on it.)

Looking through the album, the first option that came to mind might've been The Thrill of First Love but I think I'll take a break from toxic gays for just one moment and give you a strangely written analysis on Marvin at the Psychiatrist: A Three-Part Mini Opera, because of the different character pov's (i.e., Mendel, Jason, somewhat Whizzer, and of course, Marvin─ and I know Whizzer only announces each section of the song but hear me out, the theories are crazy and I'm obsessed with them and this song definitely factors into them aswell).

Basically, we'll start off with a quick look over Jason's lines, as he is the first character to speak/sing in the song. Right off the bat, we have him showing a HUGE disdain for love because of his father pretty much ruining his home life with the illusion of it. Well, maybe disdain is strong, but you get what I mean─ he's very reluctant to accept romance as an option for himself at all at this point because the wound is still very fresh from Marvin blowing up their family life, but yeah, also, he's a little preteen boy so it also makes sense for him to object to liking anyone just because of immaturity.

As we progress, Jason does a joint-therapy session with Marvin and they talk about outings and father/son bonding time gone badly wrong. He lets us in on his hyper-observance with his reaction to Marvin saying the pitcher they saw at a baseball game was handsome, and makes sure the audience is well aware he has some pretty conflicting emotions about his dad and his dad's sexuality. Especially given My Father's a Homo comes directly after this song, and in turn, also directly after this moment, so we know his feelings over Marvin and Whizzer (being that he enjoys Whizzer's company, seeing as Whizzer is the only adult who actually treats him like a kid and not like a victim or a baby or an average adult, like- but still) and their messy relationship.

It really makes me wonder on how it is when he's meant to go over to their apartment, since it's canonical that they live together and that Jason sees him regularly. And if they act terribly in front of him still. I assume Whizzer wouldn't allow that, another trait that gives Jason reason to side with him, because he seems like he really just doesn't want to completely, for lack of better words, fuck up Jason's whole childhood experience by being a part of it.

Now! Mendel isn't a complicated perspective, per say, just very eccentric. Especially assuming he asks MANY intrusive questions to a man who just openly came out as gay about his ex-wife and her sexual habits and such. This is where we tell him to go to horny jail.

(That's not the whole analysation, I swear─)

Mendel to me seems like he probably takes the initiative to not relay any of his clients actual info to other family members, but this song pretty much just proves he's incapable of brain-thought when he's horny. Which, yeah, that's hilarious that the only straight man is just thirsting over a woman to this gay guy. William Finn, you've done it again.

Anyhow, Mendel is pretty vital in this song. We get to see his psychiatry techniques, and with that, understand exactly what kind of situation Marvin's been, in taking therapy from him this whole time. The first part of the song is probably the best way of analyzing, since he's actually intelligible and giving Marvin advice. Well, that advice consists of telling him to ignore Whizzer's flaws and love him regardless, you can actually sorta see that at work in some aspects of the musical, even if he's constantly condescending to Whizzer throughout act one.

But generally, Marvin tends to take the exact opposite path that Mendel gives him, and basically just uses him as a venting device. Then again, Mendel is not to great at giving advice, as a neurotic little man who has like four mental breakdowns in the course of act one and two.

Next, Whizzer, of course. Short but sweet, or.. angsty? I've heard a few people theorize that Whizzer narrates the story ("Marvin at the psychiatrist, a three part mini opera, part one." "Part two." "Part three." "Psychiatrist, returning, returning! Five sessions later..." "A day in Falsettoland─ Doctor Mendel at work.") because after he dies, it sort of becomes his story of finding a true family and lover and son and being actually happy and knowing he lived well before he died really, tragically young, at least.

I'd like to take it a different direction, because I hate angst, and only sometimes tolerate it.

I've realized that Whizzer only actually narrates Mendel's shenanigans, which makes me think, especially with how he still does in act two, he gets to HEAR about the sessions. Whether it be from Marvin, or Jason, or Trina. Or even Mendel himself (this one's more act two based). It may introduce a new side because Whizzer doesn't go to therapy (shocker), but the people he's around all see this one guy so maybe he hears about the sessions and can relay them because he knows this one person's aspect of the story each time.

It wouldn't make a lot of sense for him to hear anything from Mendel in act one assuming they weren't close (at least not in the revival), and he doesn't marry Trina until Marvin and Whizzer are broken up, basically. But it would make more sense for him to get it from his boyfriend who absolutely loves to complain about any minor inconvenience in his life. I just think this could be an interesting perspective, because I've only ever seen that first theory and although somewhat fitting, I need less angst and more cool little headcanons in this fanbase please and thank you.

Finally, we go to Marvin. The star of the show, our princess with several disorders (we all know who our real queens are *stares directly at Trina and Whizzer*).

Throughout the entirety of this song, we see him barely entertaining Mendel with information. He's very vague, which probably stems from a life of secrecy and sneaking around. Although I presume he told Mendel about the affair while it was happening, or a few months in? Or Mendel just knew? Just by the general air of it, and how it seemed well-known by that point even though him and Trina only just divorced.

Marvin definitely keeps to himself, and waits for Mendel to butt in with something. Not so he can take his advice, but moreso so that he can kinda just. Have it, on hand? Or maybe so he can prove to himself that therapy is a hoax, because that certainly sounds like a Marvin thing to do.

Even while going through events with his son, he only states that eventually their interactions just go back to being stale and that they SHOULD be closer, without ever trying to actually make an effort (he assumes making an effort is taking Jason on outings even though they both prefer to stay inside, on their own. This definitely comes from his parents not doing anything with him as a kid, it's internalized so he pushes going out in public and doing what would be father/son outings onto Jason. It's something he never got to have, so he thinks that means he's fathering Jason better than average).

Not much to be said about that middle factor, besides the point of Marvin not knowing Trina was withholding love from him, which is interesting. Her character and lines definitely prevail that she was fed up with Marvin, but it could have just come out as indifference during their marriage. In I'm Breaking Down, she does make a point to state that she only wants a man to love her, so that could've been an overwhelming point in their marriage that Marvin remembers more vividly then her drifting away.

He did seem genuinely surprised when Mendel brought it up, so there is something there for sure.

Hmmmm. You know I've always been subconsciously knew that Blue ( rival) had different sprites throughout the game, but I never really took the time to like. Analyze them? And truthfully there isn't much to analyze but I do find it interesting on how the sprites differ from the original rbgy games and FRLG.

So let's start with rbgy. Or rather rbg cause yellow has some slight difference despite its overall same pattern.

This is the sprite to represent Blue from the first 3 battles ( as in the one in the lab, the optional one in viridian city and the one in cerulean city right before nugget bridge). This pretty much captures Blue pretty well. This cocky kid who thinks he's better than you,lmao. Got his signature hand gesture too. This was during the early game, I would say. Where he does probably think " yeah there's no way Red would catch up with me, hur hur".

Then we reach the fourth sprite on the S.S. Anne

This sprite is the sprite that's used for the rest of the game until his champion battle. This one gives such a different vibe than the first one. He looks so much more focused compared to his other sprite. Like he's looking directly as the player this time, PokeBall out, in a semi hunched position getting ready. He doesn't even have a smirk on his face, which I find very interesting. There's many ways to interpret this really, one of which is a simple " the game is telling you your getting to the mid game now". For me personally, I think it reflects on how Blue starts seeing the player. I kinda see it where Blue is starting to realize that Red is catching up, so to speak. That he can't treat them entirely like a joke anymore. He's still gonna talk shit ( the best an 11 year old can anyway) but like. It's a thought at the back of his mind. Especially when he keeps losing, like Red is almost a threat to what he wants. It's also interesting to think about this with the context of " Red and Blue where childhood friends turned rivals". I mean. They were always rivals according to professor oak, but you get what I'm trying to say right? I think this is where the " competition" gets real to blue, and he's taking it as seriously as he can, now with the facade of him being this snarky jerk. Again, that's just my interpretation of it, I'm down to hear others!

And finally....

Champion Blue! This sprite technically makes blue the first champion to have a different outfit compared to their usual sprite, which I find cool. Also this is probably what they used for reference for his look on HGSS. Probably, I don't actually know. I do think it's kinda cute that this implies he went into the elite 4 looking his best hgvhvgvgvcg. Anyway, to the actual analysis. He did it! He became champion! Before Red,too. I know I just said it was cute that Blue had an outfit change for this moment but it still shows his very show boaty nature I think. He wants Red to know he won. He wants everyone to know he won. He worked hard to get where he is and by Arceus he is going to show for it. Here's my thing though. I can't tell if he's smirking or not. I don't think he is, to it's still kinda hard to say? To me anyway. But let's go with the fact that he's not smirking. And like yeah. He's champion. This is the ultimate battle that probably means everything to him and Red. He wants to be serious about this. I just find it interesting how ever since that 4th battle he hasn't had a visible smile or smirk. His words have always been very "Blue" but his facial expressions don't fully convey that? Like his body language doesn't exactly show someone who's overly cocky, and someone who thinks he's at the top of the world, even in his champion battle, with all of that swagger. I dunno if I can accurately write my thoughts down on this but. It's weird to have Blue not smirk. Does that make sense? And not to say that Blue shouldn't be seen as serious but to lose that smirk so quickly as of the 4th battle ( third if you just didn't do the optional battle) is so. Weird. Even if he is taking Red seriously, even if he is starting to see Red as a threat rather than a friend, where's his bravado?

Am I looking way too deeply into this? Yes. Am I done. Nope!

.....oh boy. This is gonna be a bit longer than I thought-

Pokemon Yellow pretty much had the same philosophy of rbg in Blue's sprites, showcasing different poses for different parts of the journey. Where it differs is the second sprite

The second sprite for the 4th (or 3rd) battle and onward his pretty much the same as rbg, expect more polished, I think. And! He's still smirking! As much as I loved over analyzing and theorizing the shit out of his previous sprites, this sprite is way better at conveying Blue as Blue I think. The position still makes it clear that Blue is taking Red more seriously, especially with the PokeBall out, but it doesn't feel as intense as the rbg ones did imo. Though that could also be bc of the coloring. Overall it just better shows Blue character. Again, I still like the shit I wrote before, and honestly it kinda makes me appreciate Blue more, but like. Yeah, this one shows his character better. And it makes this:

Less weird to me. Minus taking away his "champion outfit". How dare they honestly. But anyway, having Blue have his usual smirk throughout the game only to drop it once he has his final battle with Red for champion. Cause like to. To him this fight would literally mean everything. He has to keep it serious. I don't have much to really say other than this pose Blue is in looks like he's just about to throw that PokeBall. I think it's neat given how important this battle is to him.

Now we can finally go to the frlg sprites bc they're kinda weird to me.

This is his sprite for the first three battles. It's. So different compared to the rbgy ones. This this sprite looks more like the sprite that he would have had for his fourth fight. And what's more!

This is his sprite that's used for fourth battle onwards. And I was so confused about this when I saw it cause. What was it trying to convey? Yeah we know that Blue is cocky, but this feels. Odd character wise. Though then I realized that this sprite and the sprite before are like. Switched versions of the rbgy ones ( specifically yellow in terms of characterization). Though I don't want to make it seem likes it's an inherently bad thing. Like it's an odd choice to me, but I can kinda see something with it. With the rbgy sprites, to me, Blue goes from not fully taking the player seriously to realizing " oh shit, Red could beat me I can't have that" to the serious battle that makes or breaks everything. This progression in frlg is like. Starting out on equal terms, but as time goes on Blue just gets more and more cocky until the last moment where you take him off his high horse. At least sprite wise, that's what that story conveys. And honestly I think both are totally fine stories to tell with Blue. I personally like the rbgy sprites better. In terms of character telling I mean. Also I can't stress enough this is just my own interpretation of these sprites that honestly don't really impact the story much. I just found it interesting that Blue actually has different sprites at all at specific points in the plot. Oh wait before I forget

This is the sprite that Blue has for his champion battle. I think he's pointing at the player? Again it's such an interesting vibe in comparison to those before it, but overall it still showcases what it needs to in terms of what the player/Red/Green/Leaf should feel at this very moment. All or nothing, winner takes all, you get it.

Aaaaand yeah. The rbg section kinda stole the show but I think it's good context for the rest of it. I hope this was enjoyable to you all and if you have your own interpretations of Blue's sprites and what they mean, I'd like to hear them!

Went back to play Skyward Sword, and I'd like to do an appreciation post for how expressive Link is in this game. It's better in motion, they give him a lot of good acting, but even in stills you can tell.

I love how they animate him jamming on his harp, he gets so into every song, you can see how he enjoys dueting with Fi a lot.

Can't forget this absolute gem, where he clearly has no idea what the hell Zelda is talking about. Either that or he is so physically unable to take a compliment he just blue screens. Either way, love this goofy child.

The moment he realized Zelda is trying to pay penance by being locked as a living seal on Demise, the desperation in his face as he runs up to her. *chefs kiss*

And then when he realizes she's Gone. It's so heartbreaking, and you can tell he needs that second to collect himself before he turns his back on her to continue on his quest. The sound design and voice acting really helps elevate this too.

Also! How much he loves music!!! Every time a dragon sings for Link, he basks in it, he loves listening and playing music so much and it's a really sweet detail they convey entirely through his expressions.

Look at them laughing together! He's so happy!!

And the pure unadulterated Rage when Ghirahim steals away Zelda.

They gave him a nose crinkle texture!! And the added dramatic lighting. Ghirahim my boy you done fucked up!

How much you can tell he Hates Demise. Beyond the times he was angry at Ghirahim, this is a cold, determined willingness to kill this so-called God that just took away Zelda from him.

This bittersweet expression, where he has to say Goodbye to Fi. You can tell he's happy this is all over, but conflicted at having to lose his friend, especially since Fi is essentially just taking over for Zelda here in an eternal slumber.

And even without dialogue options, you know Link's answer when Zelda essentially asks if he'll live with her on the surface together. You can see it's a resounding Yes.

Aro anon here! Dw, I've never felt that you as the author was pushing us to hate Ædan for not loving MC back. I think you've done fairly well, sort of, holding court(?) and showcasing asks without pushing any particular viewpoints.

Important addendum to my thoughts: I personally don't mind being uncomfy! like, not in this instance. Some fiction should be uncomfortable, especially attempting to delve into certain topics. It might be the only way to do it with honestly. It's worth it to read about the raw reactions Ædan gets. I don't want to police people's feelings on the matter - I think that's weird when we're talking fiction. Or worse, for any anons to be less honest going forward! But i do want to encourage self-examination, and give my own honest, first-reaction perspective to consider

I appreciate that you aren't planning to glorify sentiments like that, but i do hope you won't shy away from it altogether. Like, romance is messy, it can cause a lot of "ugly" feelings, and u should get to write the messiest version possible in a romance game 😂 where else to explore this? It'd be different if i was giving advice to a friend about a guy, but this is a story. Pls dw about making MC have "correct" feelings. Indulging in being vengeful, petty, or utterly enamoured with Ædan in the complete opposite direction from before could be really fun! MC being angry at Ædan specifically for not loving MC back is normal, and I think it'd make sense as an option in-game. But it'd be best, I think, to have varied reaction to this in-game. I think it'd be an interesting bit of characterization too, seeing who'd support MC unilaterally in this and who'd give more push-back against an MC who thinks like this.

e.g i think people already want the option to shove their happy relationship with Ædrick/Cyffrin in Ædan's face. There could definitely be a "if you'd picked me, you could've been this happy too 😒" bend to it 😂 so many possible reactions from everyone involved to be had:

Is Ædan actually jealous? What if not? I feel like he already knows his life would've been exponentially easier if he was in love with MC, but he had a decade and still couldn't force it. He knows what he'd feel like in a relationship with MC - utterly miserable. Maybe he'd just be happy that MC has found the happiness he feels with Helene in Ædrick/Cyffrin and say so. Would a Vengeance!MC be incensed about that?? What if Ædan was jealous and regreful! Would MC be pleased with that? Just openly gleeful? How do Ædrick/Cyffrin feel about being used for this so transparently? Or about an MC that's still so focused on Ædan, has such strong reactions to Ædan's opinions, even in a relationship with them?

FORGOTTEN LIVES: A Modern Morbius Doctor

So since Forgotten Lives is available digitally for the month of February, it gives me more opportunity to discuss Doctors that are a little more forgotten. Or, in the case we're all fans of, PNGs that look like staff working on the show that self inserted themselves as the Doctor. We're all familiar, by now, with the eight members of production staff that wore period clothes in the place of all those famous actors that... didn't line up to be pre-Hartnell. It's funny, but it doesn't it feel more like the show? The faces before the Doctor being those that really came before them, the people that kept the wheels spinning through an era of the show, multiple eras in some of their cases!

But who's to say that "The Brain of Morbius" is the only time we saw production crew turned Timeless Children? Who's to say they even played the titular hero of the show?

If anybody was going to add themselves to the peculiar line-up... it would be Steven Moffat, wouldn't it?

If you were growing up in 2010, then you were there for Doctor Who Series 5, starring Matt Smith (obvious Morbius Doctor joke) and Karen Gillan, the first series showrun by Steven Moffat. It was far from his first time working on the show, having notably written "The Curse of Fatal Death" for Red Nose Day 1999 along with a handful of iconic episodes littered throughout the RTD1 era of NuWho. What also debuted in 2010 following "Vincent and the Doctor" was a trailer for Doctor Who's latest attempt in the video game market - Doctor Who: The Adventure Games.

This episodic PC game covered five episodes encountering Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans and Vashta Nerada, before production was ceased a year later. What is most important for this discussion is episode 3 of the Adventure games, "TARDIS".

In a bottle episode set entirely on the TARDIS, you traverse through two different locations. The first is the console room but the second is more exciting, as we saw the Eleventh Doctor's Drawing Room. We were encouraged to rummage around and learn about some of the Doctor's collection, seeing different items from throughout space and time. Dozens of items were littered around the room that could be interacted, but we're only going to talk about the portrait.

On the left is the Portait of Adriaan van der Hoop, a banker and politician from 19th century Netherlands. On the right is the redesigned portrait in the Drawing Room. The intention with giving this portrait longer darker hair holding Time Lord tech was to make the appearance closer to Steven Moffat, which then raises the question of this post. Unlike "The Brain of Morbius", this is a simple Easter Egg that had no intention to reimagine the history of the Doctor. But in the wake of "The Timeless Children", there are new possibilities.

The issue is figuring out WHO this portrait is. Luckily, we have options.

Option 1.) The Doctor

It's the option that, as a Forgotten Lives fan, is more fun to imagine. The Doctor having an anachronistic portrait of himself with a new face? It's a mystery that'd grab them! The issue is that there isn't much else there - the only reason this grabs as being the Doctor is the same reason that the Morbius Doctors belong to them, because the face is based on the crew behind the camera and the eight previous examples belong to our lead. However, there's a more compelling option...

Option 2.) The Master

This one has a lot more ground and isn't too difficult to presume, especially with this video by Captainjimipie covering the theory. The Master almost has a whole unseen regeneration cycle, meaning there's a lot of space for this portrait to be a previous incarnation. The portrait also, importantly, appears to be holding a Laser Screwdriver which was used by the War and Saxon Masters. While it would be strange for the Doctor to have a portrait of the Master, the Doctor is using his Drawing Room as a storage room so would make sense to be kept.

But there's a specific option that's much more fun and really needs discussing...

Option 3.) Both

There is no evidence, this would just be fun. We've yet to have the Doctor and the Master share a face at the same time (we were so close with Dhawan!Doctor) but what if they did? A portrait of a forgotten Doctor with the iconography of an unseen Master, the two closest friends and enemies sharing a face.

It's fun to debate and consider who these people were and, if you're a fan of Forgotten Lives, then you're already well aware of it! The biggest appeal to Forgotten Lives is getting eight brand-new original takes on the Doctor, and the biggest benefit is raising money to fight Alzheimers.

Headcancon: how the lost boys keep clean

Alright so this is probably the most crack head fic I've ever written, but you know I've had this thought on my mind and i couldn't stop thinking about it so here we have its. Let's hope I don't suck at writing

So first let's talk hygiene. I swear on my life that despite what is said by the frog brothers. The boys are moderately clean. I know good and well they aren't filthy but they might not be the cleanest all the time,they are vampires for crying out loud.

However sensibly speaking the boys have to bath at least once a night do to them feeding. As we see they boys are exactly the most clean after feeding. They are covered in blood, looking awfully disheveled. Clothes torn,hair all messy.

Under no circumstances could they stroll down the boardwalk looking like that, even if, let's just say they return to the cave after feeding which I sort of doubt considering the amount of darkness they still have to prowl around. Driving home looking like that wouldn't be ideal.

So I feel strongly that the boys bathe after feeding. Which Paul and Marko absolutely love! Those two really enjoy getting clean.

But how do they get clean?

Im so glad you asked my friend. There are a few options really. First and for most, the boys could easily find a secluded part of the beach and jump in the water and wash up, this in particularly is Marko and Paul's favorite way of getting clean they really like the big open water and how fast and efficiently they can get clean, they also definitely get into a splashing fight. Dwayne absolutely destroys them both and 100% wins the splashing game. Even if there really is no way of "winning" Dwayne wins. Its safe to say Dwayne does enjoy the ocean as well he likes all the space and all the cool shells he finds is a plus too ( yes. Dwayne has a shell collection don't judge him). david on the other hand...he doesn't hate it but its his least favorite way of getting clean. For one david hates the cold he's also not the biggest fan of sand either. He will tolerate it especially since his brothers do enjoy it sm but if david had to pick it were they got cleaned it would not be the ocean. He does however like to join in on the splash fights he just acts like he doesn't.

if david did get his way his favorite way to get clean is a nice hot shower. And I know what you're saying. How does he shower? Now while the boy's cave doesn't have a shower, max's house does. So a good bit of the time especially in the winter. When the boys are dirty aka coverd in blood, they use max's shower at his house. Since max works at the video store at night its a breeze for the boys to get into his house and use his stuff.

Now David enjoys himself a hot shower. He can properly get clean while staying warm. He doesn't mind the fact he smells good after either. A shower gives him enough time to wash his hair thoroughly. So after words he can style it back. I feel like david rummages through max's medicine cabinet and steals his cologne. What can I say david likes smelling good.

Although david doesn't wash his hair everyday, he just doesn't like too. However he will do it at least twice a week.

Now that leaves dwyane. His favorite way of cleaning up is definitely a good warm bath. I don't want to hear it from any of you. I feel in my soul that dwayne loves baths, I mean its relaxing.  The water has to be just right tho.  dwayne is picking about the temperature and who can blame him.

He likes bubbles too. dwayne loves good smells so naturally he likes the sent of the soap and bodywash being a vampire and having enhanced senses makes bathes all the more delightful for him. While he's soaking in the tube he likes to have a good shave. This however is sometimes damn near impossible.

Since he can't see himself in a mirror he relies a lot on feeling his face and the stubble thats there and when he's managed to very carefully shave it off, once he believes he's gotten it all he'll run his hand all across his face to make sure its all smooth. Once his face is all shaved and smooth. Dwayne begins rinsing off and getting out.

i forgot what volume we're on but THOUGHTS

first off what do you meeeaan we're getting the finale next week 😭

heart rate challenge is fun because of the costumes and dances and flirting in front of someone's partner you get to do, but god the results sucked. I don't care for the drama of Jin having the highest heart rate with Sienna and I don't care about Sienna rubbing it in MC's face. Can we move on???

Especially because literally on the other side of it, I just picked that MC would have her heart rate raised the most by Logan for fun, and that resulted in NOTHING. Maybe like one comment that flew under the radar during Logan's date, but nothing fun. I just had to hear about Sienna sticking her tongue in Jin's ear or whatever.

Speaking of Logan, he's just another victim of not enough screen time. Like Tyler, Hari, and Logan all seem great but you barely get any chance to talk to them outside of their intro episodes and then by then you're expected to have already made a decision on who to pick. At least Hari is around for a while, but I simply have not really talked to him since Casa aside from hearing how he's fumbling Hazel. And between Tyler and Logan, who in my mind are basically the same personality going only for MC, I kind of prefer Tyler because at this stage in the game, Logan needed to have put more pressure. Or have been an angel sent like Oliver idk he has some substance. Once again, just a waste of a good looking sprite.

I also miss LIs that had their own personalities. Like I think that's why the OG boys are fun at first: each of them being distinct enough but all having reasons to go for MC. But the bombshells this season all seem to kind of just be "yeah I like MC because she's confident and knows what she wants" and that's it. It feels gameplayer-y which is maybe why I'm less intrigued for their routes. Even small things like Lucas liking a girl that puts in effort vs Henrik liking a girl that tells it like it is, so then you kind of have to "compete" with the other characters even though it doesn't make a difference later on with who you pick feels like it gives the characters more dimension.

I also think this is why Bea and Claudia have such compelling routes this season compared to the male bombshells (and vs. some of the other wlw routes in other seasons). They have potential partners that could give them what they want, although we know ultimately probably not. Also why I think if Hari's storyline was more fleshed out and you got time with him, that when he comes back with Hazel, his story could be more interesting.

Also I liked Logan better with the hat on, he needed a different haircut lol.

Stop it please with the texts interrupting conversations there has GOT to be a better way

the pancake challenge is lame. it just made me miss s2 cake decorating challenge 😭

also at this stage in the game, i feel like we should've gotten Mr. and Mrs. (I can't remember if we already did that). But a fun food challenge is fine too, it's just that this one wasn't fun. Also the options all being either "do it correctly" or "fail on purpose?" was very lame and probably contributed to it being boring. Once again, make it more like the s2 cake decorating challenge or paint challenge in difficulty if you're gonna do this.

Also no one else flirting with MC at this point? the other LI's don't have a CHANCE. That's why it's called tempting fate, because it's all temptation and yet while they all claim to want MC, no one is really talking to her what a shame

How does Sienna have the energy to be this much of a hater?? I kinda wanted her to have a small redemption at the end of her time but we never got it. And plus with her being so mean, it's so hard to imagine that at one point she charmed Jin into even considering her, so I feel like for logic's sake, we should've seen some of what Jin saw in her.

And once again we fall into the same problem this season has had which is way too many things at once because what do you mean they had three SEPARATE firepit meetings to dump islanders?? Give them some room to breathe!!

But yeah for some reason a couple is getting dumped right before the recoupling. We say goodbye to my frenemy couple Emel and Oakley. I hated them at times, but I miss them so dearly. They do not deserve to leave. I think that should've gone to Sienna/Max or Liam/Bea. If anything, since it's a public vote they should've had those three couples be at the bottom and then everyone else vote on who they'd like to dump and then however the math works out it ends up being Emel/Oakley, just for realism if the game really wanted to dump them. I understand that it had to be them because there are LI's in every other couple, but that's why I think they shouldn't have this dumping here in the first place.

Then the final recoupling. I touched on this briefly already, but oh my god no one got a chance. This may be the first time since season 2 that I'm sticking with the original person I chose to couple up with the first time I played through (ok technically S5 I did end the game with Suresh but that season is special and in a bad way). And maybe it's just the way I've been playing, but it does seem like in the last few volumes, you really only get to talk to the OG boy you chose or the Casa boy you chose. But I haven't really talked to Claudia since Casa and I'm so sad about that. Haven't talked Max much either, so I thought maybe he was sticking with Sienna? Haven't talked to Hari. Haven't talked to Bea. For some reason before the final recoupling, MC had a chance to talk to THEO? I was under the impression that if you're on a Claudia route then you're not on a Theo route but I guess he was an option the whole time, which was becoming clear in the last few volumes, but I'm still in awe every time he shows up trying to talk to MC. (Side note: a well written Theo friends to lovers route is brewing in my head and I think it would've rivaled a Jake S1 route so that's a shame it doesn't play out that way). Logan also had that chance, but both of those were gem choices, so they don't count in my head.

So no Claudia and Bea? I literally wanted to scream when Claudia said she was choosing a boy 😭😭

Logan is with Bea just because she needs to escape Liam, so I understand why, but they just seem so odd to me. Especially when Oakley and Emel were right there! Should've let them stay, at least they pretend to like to each other!!

Oh but I will miss Liam actually. Unfortunately he has much more personality than Logan so that's a shame but unsurprising that the more boring person stays the longest in love island lol.

Shouldn't have to pay gems to get people to not watch Jin's girlfriend announcement

And then Max and Sienna go home in ANOTHER dumping. I'm exhausted. They couldn't have written one more volume to spread these out?

anyway to prevent this post from being too too long I'm going to make a second post (yet again) with my ideas for how to fix these episodes because I've been okay with most of the recent volumes but idk this one in particular, although having the same problems as before, annoyed more than the others lol

still one of the top seasons of the game imo and definitely an improvement from s7 which I still haven't finished
