Honestly after rereading gsgw for more context on Yeongeun's character, I understand now just how frustrated she must've been with the whole Arm situation, and why she was incredibly pissed at Jaekwan.
Go Yeongeun is someone who is a bit self conscious (she doesn't show it too much), in that she does not want to be a burden/be considered dead weight.
She is very strict with herself, and instills in her mind that she needs to do her best to contribute (e.g. in their recruitment test she tries to come up with her own answer, in Looky Mart she brought a key item that would end up helping her and Soleum's group).
As a result, it seems she thinks that being too reliant on others can be distasteful and burdensome to the other party. I think it's why she always tries so damn hard. This brief scene between her and Kim Soleum really stuck with me:
"You must feel a bit pressured." [..] Go Yeongeun spoke with a complicated expression. "People keep leaning on you." [...]"They're scared and anxious, so I hope you don't find it too exhausting and distasteful."
Go Yeongeun is someone who always tries her best on her own, hell, she's even described as a self-taught medical professional despite never having taken the medical exam. So of course she can't possibly imagine just coasting, and not putting in the effort or pulling their weight in a team mission.
So you can imagine how she felt in Looky Mart. She had to follow her bureau senior around, even if he was doing unreasonable things, unable to act on her own as she's a spy and couldn't afford to rouse any suspicion, only to end up nearly contaminated had it not for her reliable former coworker turned coworker (whom she thought had DIED in action just a month ago, by the way), who was kind enough for her to consider to be a work friend... Coming to her aid. Of course she must have felt so indebted. And in the text, she did feel bad, because she felt that it was her fault that she hadn't prepared enough, or prepared the right way. And her work friend, as kind and reliable as always, while having a few screws loose, as always, even sacrificed his own limb to get them a ticket out of there. He did ALL of that, all that work, and so of course she had to pull her weight too; get the rescued kids in order, treated, taken care of. And then... They had to pick up this senior agent, who was about to end up as chopped liver. And her work friend, as if barbecuing his arm wasn't enough, he gave this supposed senior the precious potion that should've been used on himself....
I'd be mad too if I was her.

pyramid game is such a perfect little drama for the sapphics because you've got a whole demented psychological thriller going on about high school girls creating a whole fake social class system that results because one bored little princess bitch thought it'd be funny, and you've got all these dynamics that can only be boiled down to some kind of love story because like. ye lim and eun jeong's dynamic? the princess idol and her athlete bodyguard. soo ji and ja eun's dynamic? the cold mastermind and the compassionate heart. even whatever da yeon and seol ha have got going on? typical hitter and loyal dog dynamic. the list can go on.

I'm halfway through the show, Queen of Tears, and something that I've seen floating across is the anti Hyun Woo sentiment regarding how he treated Hae In initially and was just trying to do it all for the will.
Something to understand here is that in situations such as his, where he was emotionally empty and just a shell of himself who was just functioning, he didn't have the bandwidth to understand the gravity of situation that was Hae In's terminal illness.
In Hyun Woo's mind, he didn't have Hae In's support anywhere, be it against his in-Laws or in the company. She is silent against her family and hostile and argumentative in the company. He doesn't know what all she does for him on the sly or in backstage. He is not aware and Hae In never made the effort to change that situation.
All that pressure, anxiety, gear and emotional drain took its toll on Hyun Woo's emotional capacity. Stuck in a state of constant negativity, his initial reaction to Hae In's illness might be a form of self-preservation. He shuts down completely, unable to process the additional emotional burden of her mortality.
Something to remember is also the fact, that although he was thinking of it, the one thing that pushed him to draft the divorce papers were the talk of their child, whose entire identity and life was being decided by Hae In's family while she had no opinion on that and couldn't care less. This entire situation fueled the fire of resentment burning within Hyun Woo. Here was Hae In, seemingly indifferent to the future of their potential child, the very thing that initially distanced them. It felt like a repeat of their early struggles, where her family held all the cards and Hae In remained silent, leaving him to battle alone.
This perception, however flawed it might be, explains his impulsive decision to draft the divorce papers. Exhausted and emotionally hollowed out, he saw the child issue as the final straw, a symbol of their inability to stand together. He might have been grasping at a desperate solution, a way to force a change in their dynamic, a cry for her to finally fight for him and their future.
Of course, this doesn't paint Hyun Woo as a hero. His actions were undeniably hurtful, a clumsy and emotionally charged attempt to solve a complex situation. But by understanding the immense pressure he was under, the constant negativity seeping into his core, we can see a flicker of vulnerability beneath his anger. He craved Hae In's support, her voice alongside his in the face of adversity. Perhaps, the divorce papers were a twisted plea for her to finally break her silence, to acknowledge his pain and fight for their future together.
Here's where empathy becomes crucial. While his actions are undeniably hurtful, it's important to consider if they stem from malice or a desperate attempt to cope.
Think about it this way: Imagine a cup overflowing with negativity. Hyun Woo's daily struggles with his in-laws, the lack of support at work, and the constant emotional strain have already filled his cup to the brim. When Hae In's illness is revealed, it's simply too much for him to handle at that moment. He doesn't have the emotional space to understand the gravity of her situation, let alone offer support. in fact, it's easy for him to consider her death as an easy escape since his capacity for empathy or his love for her was essentially buried under all that negativity.

We Survived Romance?
A Surviving Romance Epilogue fic
Source Material: Surviving Romance - Lee Yone (Found on WEBTOON as a daily pass series)
Warning: BIG BIG ending spoilers!! Please go check out the series I promise it’s a great read (IMHO)
———————————————————————————————————————
A hand reaches through the darkness
Grasping
Flailing
Desperately trying to find something, anything, until-
Lights.
Bright, fluorescent, glaring down on the girl below them.
Alone in her hospital bed,
Chaerin EunHuisu Kim
Takes a shuddering breath
It feels like her first in years.
Huisu feels her arms, thin and malnourished.
Her hair, short and brown.
No trace of sinewy muscle, reminders of physical struggle.
Not a glimpse of cotton candy pink, a color of vibrancy ill fitting with the grim situation.
She takes a minute to look around.
White walls.
Machines beeping lazily.
An IV feeding directly into her arm.
A hazy feeling in her mind, a familiar ache settling behind her eyes from staring into the effulgent ceiling lights too long.
Huisu Kim has returned to the real world.
But
Where are they?
Slowly, she pushes herself to a seated position.
Everyone.
Where are they?
She glances around her for,
What?
She doesn’t know anymore
Something to connect her to the world?
Something that would help her find her friends?
If they’re even here.
She doesn’t let that thought soak too far into her mind
A nurse walks into her room.
Clinical blue scrubs,
An ID badge dangling from her pocket,
Glasses dangling on the edge of her nose,
A fresh bag for Huisu’s IV in her hands.
The sight of Huisu sitting up seems to startle her, a slight yelp escaping her mouth before she composes herself.
A soft greeting escapes her lips as she glances furtively away,
Lifting a radio with shaky hands.
Muttering indistinctly.
Approaching.
“Ms. Kim?”
As she checks the monitor next to Huisu, the nurse begins rambling, words flowing out of her mouth in an attempt to reassure Huisu
A name - one that faded quickly out of her memory
The date - almost three years from what she remembered it being
Where she was - a hospital close to her apartment
And-
“Well, your condition seems stable…”
“Do you have any relatives?”
The nurse’s voice seems to flicker back into focus.
Huisu’s voice has all but disintegrated.
She shakes her head.
“Ah… Well, someone came to see you earlier. Said she was… a friend of yours?”
Huisu blinks. She wasn’t aware she had any friends left.
“Hmm- What was her name?”
The nurse seems to think for a second.
“Right!”
“Jung Jihyeon.”
Huisu’s body stiffens.
“She showed up just a few minutes before visitation closed last night, begging and pleading to be let in-”
The nurse sighs sympathetically.
“They didn’t admit her, though. Said that if she had no way to prove she was close with you she wouldn’t be allowed to visit.”
“I need to see her.”
Huisu’s voice is a desperate croak, vocal cords crackly from disuse. The nurse starts, seemingly having forgotten that Huisu, although she hadn’t, could theoretically talk.
“W-Well, uh- she was sent home. It was the middle of the night. If you have her number, I can help you make a call?”
A wave of disappointment washes over Huisu.
She shakes her head.
The nurse looks surprised, one eyebrow raising slightly before she recomposes herself. “Well- erm.” She clears her throat. “If you don’t have a way to contact her, we’ll just have to wait and see if she comes back. Visitation opens at 10 AM, closes at 11 PM.”
A quick glance over to the wall clock tells Huisu that the time is 7:38 AM.
It’s going to be a long wait.
The next few hours pass uneventfully. Huisu is asked several questions about her condition by various doctors and nurses.
Is she experiencing any aches or pains?
Can she move her hands? What about her feet?
Are any parts of her body numb?
No
With effort, yes.
No
Huisu finds she is now very weak.
Years of inactivity have allowed her muscles to atrophy, wasting away in that hospital bed.
The doctors tell her that recovering enough to be discharged will take a long time, and she may even need to continue physical therapy after that.
Well.
She’s… alive.
Is she glad to be?
She can’t quite tell.
A nurse comes sometimes to change out her IV bags, saying they’ll get her on solid food once her body is a little stronger.
The prospect of normalcy is comforting.
Other than that,
The lack of most distractions gives her time to think.
Too much time.
Was it really Jihyeon who’d come to visit her?
How had she made it to the real world?
Would she come back a second time?
She turns her head to the side.
The clock reads 5:18 PM, quietly ticking from the wall to her right.
Huisu lets out a soft sigh, relaxing back into her bed.
She wonders about the others.
Juri
Shinbi
Cheram
Mihui.
If Jihyeon had made it out- maybe, just maybe…
A nurse pokes her head through the door.
“Um, Ms. Kim?”
Huisu lifts her head.
“There’s someone here to see you. She came yesterday- um- says her name is Jihyeon Jung? Would you like me to send her in-?”
A ferverent nod.
“Alright, I’ll go and get her.”
Huisu feels her heartbeat pick up, blood thrumming in her ears.
A pair of footsteps echo down the hall, the nurse’s voice slowly becoming audible.
“…Yes, she woke up this morning. She’s lucid and her condition is stable, but-! Hey, miss-!”
One set picks up, running with a sort of abandon loud enough for the sound of shoes pounding the floor to reach Huisu.
Huisu’s breath catches in her chest.
Red and white sneakers with black socks.
A simple black shirt under a white hoodie.
Black hair that almost shimmered navy under the light.
Soft navy eyes staring straight into hers, already welling up.
Standing in the doorway of Huisu Kim’s hospital room, tears begin to drip from Jihyeon Jung’s eyes.
She takes a tentative step forward, almost as if she can’t believe what she’s seeing.
“Huisu…?”
Her voice is soft, uncertain.
Huisu nods, daring to hope as her own vision begins to grow blurry with tears.
“C-Chaerin…?
Jihyeon’s voice cracks slightly as she continues to approach the bed.
A small smile creeps onto Huisu’s face.
“Yes.”
Her voice is raspy and worn, but it carries no doubt.
That one word is all it takes for Jihyeon to cross the rest of the distance separating them, strong arms wrapping around Huisu’s frail shoulders and pulling her into an embrace.
Huisu buries her face in Jihyeon’s neck, inhaling the warm scent of clean laundry and a hint of citrus. She lifts her still shakey arms, doing her best to drape them around Jihyeon’s shoulders。
“I’m so sorry.”
Jihyeon stumbles over the words, hands digging into Huisu’s fragile hospital gown as if she could disappear at any moment.
“I tried to come last night, but you weren’t awake- and apparently Jihyeon has- I- have a 9-5 job- I came as soon as I could-“
“I’m just glad you’re here.”
Huisu murmurs, pulling Jihyeon closer with what little strength she has.
Jihyeon tenses for a moment, then lets out a choked sob and returns the hug.
Creak
They both swivel their heads towards the door.
The nurse is standing in the doorway, awkwardly frozen in the middle of trying to walk out of the room. She glances back at the two by the bed, looking mortified, and quickly slips away.
Jihyeon pulls back, using her sleeve to wipe the tears from her eyes.
Huisu does the same, awkwardly brushing the shoulder of her hospital gown over her face.
“Jihyeon…”
She begins, looking at the other girl.
“How… Are you here? That body…”
Jihyeon looks down.
“It belonged to someone else.”
She finishes Huisu’s sentence.
“Truthfully, I- I don’t know.”
Jihyeon glances down at her hands, clenching them into fists and relaxing her left hand open.
“I have her memories- growing up, school, work…”
She opens her right hand.
“But… I also remember everything that happened with us. The apocalypse. The time loop.”
Conflict flickers in her eyes as she glances up at Huisu.
“I don’t know which memories belong to the real me.”
Huisu looks up at her, wishing she could give her an answer. Jihyeon seems to understand her guilt, glancing away.
“At least we’re both named Jihyeon.”
She laughs ruefully, shaking her head.
A moment of morbid silence.
“You probably wrote me after her, right?”
Huisu’s blood runs cold.

hyunhyuk ramble because they're so in love
Tumblr media
tldr; hyunsu means so much to eunhyuk that he, a neohuman who's supposed to be emotionless, was able to smile at the sight of him before he relearned how to feel in the finale.
full analysis under the cut
---
even though it's barely noticeable, neohuman eunhyuk smiled when he saw hyunsu for the first time in almost a year, despite claiming that neohumans have "evolved past the need for emotion"
i'm sure a lot of people are familiar with muscle memory, but aside from remembering certain motor skills, our bodies can also store emotions. this is why we're able to feel butterflies in our stomach when we're nervous, our chest feels heavy when we're sad, etc. it's almost impossible for a "human" being to be 100% logical and unfeeling because the framework by our reasoning is defined by our emotions. this is why eunhyuk could regain all his emotions in the finale.
it's most likely that emotions are pushed deep into a neohuman's unconscious mind the same way traumatic memories are, they serve no purpose to the neohuman. however, both can resurface to the conscious mind with the right triggers. in this case, it's hyunsu.
having been reborn with emotions that have no major importance in his wiring, it's only natural that his body isn't used to expressing any of them. so when he reunites with hyunsu, the happiness that arises in him must be so intense, that his muscle memory makes him subtly smile. these emotions are what's left of human eunhyuk, the one who went back to green home because of hyunsu before he let himself become part of its collapse.
not only that, he smiles A SECOND TIME when he asks hyunsu for help, this time being more obvious.
in contrast to the poker face he had when speaking, eunhyuk really meant it when he said he missed hyunsu, even if he was just talking to his monster.
the scene where he tries to relearn how to smile/properly feel emotions by imitating he and eunyu's family picture just further proves my point. when he tries to make himself smile, it looks unnatural and uncanny. (he's trying his best tho and that's what counts)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
additionally, you can see the smile reach his eyes when he was with hyunsu.
going back to the picture, him keeping it also proves my point of neohumans' emotions just being buried in their unconscious mind. there's no logical reason for him to hold onto it. he didn't lose his memories, therefore he didn't forget eunyu. the only reason he has it is because of emotional attachment, and he doesn't realize it. he doesn't realize he's more emotional than he thinks he is in general.
