So I've been playing a lot of DBH and I have stuff on my mind. For this post: why is the Revolution written Like That??
This has probably been rehashed a lot when DBH actually came out but I'm playing it now and want to add my mustard to this all.
What bothers me about the Revolution route is that it's portrayed pretty negatively. Characters like Rose say that they don't like what Markus (or North I guess) is doing and overall there's not a lot of acknowledgement of the fact that there kind of isn't another choice.
Like yeah, in game there is, but if you look at things from a realistic perspective the humans are putting androids into concentration camps and systematically genociding them. The peaceful demonstration is the naivest shit ever and they can count themselves lucky it succeeds in game. Like yeah, let me just march to our deaths and let countless androids in the concentration camps die while I get myself killed instead of trying to save as many lives as possible by launching an attack.
Like I am convinced that the only reason the demonstration (or revolution for that matter) wins is because Connor pulls up with a fucking army and the authorities go like oh shit. I guess it goes differently on machine!Connor runs, I haven't done one yet, but I can't really see how. Like at the end of the demonstration less than thirty androids remain standing. If Connor didn't bring the thousands of androids from the Cyberlife tower they would have been crushed.
Like, I did a playthrough of: steal truck without being detected. Stratford tower with no human casualties and "calm" message. Pacifist strong message during store raid, sparing the cops. Freedom march with running away. Like from Markus' POV he tried everything. He's been peaceful and the humans are still set on genocide. Doing the same thing over and over expexting a different result is the definition of insanity or whatever. Here, public opinion changes but public opinion is already pretty much useless in real life.
And the Revolution ending... maybe it's just because I failed to save Simon and also Kara was at border control and not in the camps, but it felt unfulfilling. Like it had the same result as the demonstration but also Josh is guaranteed dead because he's really bad at fighting but still comes with to launch a fucking attack.
Maybe it's also that the Revolution has a pretty different gameplay section. It's not just all QTEs you also have to look around and shit, and I don't think it's bad?? It was just so different that I felt overwhelmed and like I didn't really know what was going on. When I'll play it again I'll prob like it better. Like you have to look at a fucking grenade or some shit to save Simon what the hell.
North's revolution was more fulfilling, since it was just epic cutscenes, (and Josh died in Jericho for some reason Connor can't save him even though Markus can and Connor can save all the same people BEFORE-) but unfortunately not enough people were alive so North ended up dead and then Connor was alone and yeah suicide time because Amanda sucks.
Uh. Spoiler warning I guess.
Yeah idk I feel like you should be able to get a best ending with the Revolution. Because the demonstration is the most naive ass bullshit and if that can succeed so can fighting.
Also I know Connor is busy corralling thousands of newly awakened androids into walking in a perfect grid formation for dramatic effect and intimidation factor but I still feel like he deserves a piece of the action!!

How You Met
word count: 832 || avg. reading time: 4 mins.
pairing: post-time skip Kenma x chubby!Reader feat. Kuroo (as The Wingman™ doing the most)
genre: fluff
warnings: none
“You need to get out more. Don’t you ever miss the sun and …”, Kuroo looked around his friend’s gaming room, noting empty take-out containers and energy drinks and balled up socks, “fresh air?”
“No.“, Kenma simply said as he rifled through the games on his computer, trying to decide which one he would stream tonight.
“Come on, let‘s go out. Not for a drink or anything, just for a walk.“
Kenma knew he wouldn‘t be able to hold out long against Kuroo‘s incessant pleas that were bound to follow and so he gave a demonstrative sigh and got up, ignoring the other‘s wide grin.
“Now isn‘t this nice?“, Kuroo took a deep breath of the crisp evening air.
Kenma just looked at his phone and tapped on a nearby checkpoint collecting his rewards.
“It‘s raining.“
“Hardly, drizzling at best. Do you wanna check out that new restaurant that just opened up?“
“No, let‘s go back home. We can order food.“
“We‘ve barely been out five minutes.“
That was already 5 times longer than Kenma preferred in a week.
“Look, the app says there is an event in the park over there. Why don‘t we check it out?“
Lured with the promise of a good game, Kenma shuffled after Kuroo, not hiding a groan of contempt that made Kuroo laugh, “Just like the good old days!“
According to the app the upcoming battle would take place at a fountain in the middle of the small aforementioned park. Only a few other people were already waiting there, periodically checking their phones for the event timer.
Kenma looked around, already thinking about what food he craved once he was back in his warm and cozy house.
There were two young school boys who, in Kuroo‘s opinion, should have gone to bed long ago, another man a little older than him - and you. You stood under a cream coloured umbrella, concentrating on your phone like the others. A fluffy white dog sat at your feet, leaning close to stay dry.
You looked really cute, stunningly cute actually, as far as he could tell in the dim light of the street lanterns, subdued by the misty air. The washed out video game shirt was tied to a knot at your hips, hugging your curvy shape. You reminded him of the big bunny plushie he had gotten a few years ago as part of a game promotion.
The event finally began. He tried to keep his focus on the game but snuck curious looks every now and then across the fountain. Did you live around here, too? How had he never seen you bef- oh, right.
After a few short minutes it was already over and everyone went their separate ways.
“So, what do you wanna have for dinner? Kenma? Hello? Hm?“
Kuroo‘s eyes followed the gaze of his friend and grinned when he spotted you, digging around in your bag.
“Kenma-kun?“, he said teasingly, leaning closer to his friend‘s ear, “You still with us?“
“Huh?“
The younger one snapped out of his daze.
“Why don‘t you go talk to her?“
“Talk to who?“
“Her.“, Kuroo nodded in your direction.
“Why would I?“
“Oh geez, I dunno. Because you‘re staring and for you that is basically equivalent to Tora salivating.“
“Am not.“, Kenma muttered defensively and hated that his ears turned hot.
“Uh huh. Hey, excuse me!”, Kuroo ignored the panicked tug on his jacket when he called out to you.
You looked up, then at them, looked around in confusion, then pointed at yourself.
“Yes.”, Kuroo called with a bright confident smile and walked over to you, Kenma who was still holding onto his jacket followed, but quickly let go before you noticed.
You seemed a bit worried at the tall figure calling out to you randomly in a park but calmed when he asked, “Did you score anything good?” He pointed to your phone.
“Oh. Yes, yes I did.” You turned your phone to show off the rewards.
“Nice. Didn’t you say you got something good, Kenma?”
The younger one nodded and turned his screen for you to see.
“Wow, lucky!”
“I’m Kuroo. This is Kenma.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m (y/n).”
Silence followed.
“And who is this?”
Kuroo pointed at the dog to your feet that sniffed his foot quizzically.
“That’s Plume. I named her after -“
“The berserker in Cloak and Dagger II.“, Kenma finished.
His ears turned hot again when your face lit up.
“Yes! Oh my god, I never met anyone offline who knows the game!“
Silence fell again, Kuroo tapped his foot impatiently.
“Hey, Kenma, isn‘t Cloak and Dagger a multiplayer game?“
“Yeah.“, Kenma replied, weirdly annoyed that his friend would ask such a dumb obvious question in front of you.
Another short stretch of silence.
Kuroo sighed. “Why don‘t you two exchange tags then? You could play together.“
“Oh! That would be great, but I mean, of course you don‘t have to.“, you said quickly.
“Oh no, he wants to.“
a/n: let‘s just pretend the picture is post-time skip - also this game is entirely made up and it took me way too long to think of a name

INTRO !! ❤︎ ׄ Jealousy Jealousy .ᐟ
A jealous Bi-Han can’t be good, let’s see his natural reaction to someone flirting with you. Content warning: None.
Bi-Han’s jealousy isn’t from self-doubt, he is too arrogant to see failure within him, getting out of him even an ounce of insecurity is nearly impossible. However, people should know better than to play with his most sensible and yet biggest nerve that is his ego. He'll take it as an attack on his honor if he sees someone with clear ulterior motive trying to take away the one thing he has the most pride for, you.
While he is slightly overprotective, as it is the very first time for him to fall that hard for someone and is clearly inexperienced to romantic relationships, he is rational enough to neither be paranoid or controlling of whoever approaches you, but for those fools trying to interfere between his couple, may Liu Kang bless them.
When he sees someone with ambiguous intentions (which seems ambiguous to you but not for Bi-Han) talking to you he doesn't make his presence known immediately and stays silent, but you can clearly see his anger slowly taking over him as a deep frown appears over his watchful eyes which holds a 'So you have chosen death' look to the one causing his anger. If they don’t pay attention because they are too indulged in his partner's pretty eyes, you'll find a protective hand wrapping itself around your waist and an angry boyfriend by your side. It should be clear to anyone that when Bi-Han displays physical affection to the public's eyes, it means a warning that someone is close to his limits.
If everyone is lucky, the troublemaker will leave you and Bi-Han alone, if not, it might escalate quickly. Bi-Han will tell them to back off with a not-so-subtle threat, that would get anyone run away quickly in a second. But, Bi-Han is ready to take action if this ‘pathetic idiot’ tries to touch you or tells you vulgar words, remember what he did to Johnny in his mansion when he touched him? It’s the same here, the person is flying across the place with bruises that will need a long time to heal. And Bi-Han will end with another threat before leaving the place angrily with you.
Reassure him isn’t as easy as to make him jealous, it will take time but you’ll resolve his anger. Just be close to him and listen to his rambling about how idiotic that person was, then cut him off with an unexpected kiss that’ll make him stop talking. Suddenly he loses his words and remains silent, which gives you the time to tell him how you only have eyes on him and no else, how you love everything about him that makes him unique from the rest.
He doesn’t doubt your love, but it does put him in a slightly better mood when you tell him this, hearing lovely speeches from you always does even it’s hard to admit. He confirms your words and continue rambling on whether or not the person was bold or oblivious to the fact you were clearly his already, moreover on how disrespectful were they to you, his love, the spouse of the Grandmaster of one of the deadliest and most glorious clan in all the realms.
“Are you going to brood all day or you’ll let me demonstrate that I only love you?”
He thinks about your words for a second only, despite that he has to swallow his pride, he prefers to bath in your affection than to think more about someone who doesn’t deserve his care. And that’s how you tame a jealous Bi-Han.

Day 17 of @jilytoberfest is brought to you by exercise and Lily being cheeky. Prompt: “It’s cute when your face gets red like that.” Word count: 384
James was sure that it could not be that difficult! Lily always looked so relaxed when she did the yoga exercises, something that he often admired from his spot on the bed. He’d more than once cheekily suggested that she shouldn’t be afraid to get rid of the loose shirt and joggers she usually wore on the colder mornings.
Today, he was lucky that the sun was shining and it was too warm for the baggy outfit she had donned several mornings in a row now. Still, he made the joke and that is how he ended up in… Sideways Dog? Praying Grasshopper? He could not remember what the pose was called, all he could think of was how he was very much not relaxed.
Lily on the other hand looked fine as she switched her weight from one leg to the other and peeked at him from the gap between. She made it look so easy while he groaned and grunted, dragging his torso to his ankle and not even coming close.
“Just breathe, love,” Lily instructed him and demonstrated yet another, deep breath. Like he didn’t know how to breathe. Actually, maybe she had a point, maybe he had forgotten how to. It sure felt like it.
It wasn’t until they were in corpse pose, flat on the ground, something he managed quite well. “That was fun,” James said breathlessly, too winded to be sarcastic. “You do this for fun? I am starting to wonder if you’re not a bit of a masochist.”
Lily laughed and from the corner of his eye he could see her roll to her side, her fingers sliding up his arm and making him shiver. “Really? That is what makes you think that? I thought the spanking would have made that clear,” she said and James could feel his face get impossibly redder.
James sputtered, wanting to say something to save his dignity but before he could utter a word her lips were on his and his dignity be damned.
When she pulled away, he chased her lips for another fleeing brush before collapsing back onto the mat. “You should try yoga more often,” Lily suggested and he rolled to his side to look at her curiously.
“Why?”
“It’s cute when your face gets red like that.”

kind of a rouge prompt idea but “i just told a story at work about my childhood that i thought was really funny but now everyone is super quiet and someone said i’m so sorry” but it’s jamie + the team edition. like he talks about a traumatising James Thing and has no idea how horrifying it is until they’re all like …… wtf
love your writing! <3
Thanks for the prompt (and the lovely compliment)!
I’ll preface this by saying I have next to no knowledge of dentistry and you should not assume any medical assertions made here are correct.
((I also feel like I should add that I finished this one off while more than a little tipsy.))
Enjoy the himbo chaos.
(Prompt Fill Masterpost)
—
“Ay, dios mio, it was terrifying.” Dani put an emphatic hand to his chest. “Earl. He still haunts me.”
“Thought you were over that, bruv.” Isaac frowned up at him from his usual spot on the locker bench.
“On the pitch, yes. But at night…” Dani shook his head mournfully. “I have dreams of being chased in the dark. I know it is him.”
“I used to have dreams like that.” Colin piped up, pausing in tying his laces and looking haunted. “‘Cept it was my nana chasing me, on her mobility scooter.”
A few people sniggered and Isaac clapped Colin’s shoulder. “That’s fucked up.”
“I never remember my dreams,” Sam mused. “But I have always been a very deep sleeper. My father says I was the envy of all other parents when I was a baby.”
“I have only ever had one nightmare.” Richard declared. “All of my beautiful little teeth fell out of my mouth and I was ugly. Who will kiss me if I have no teeth?”
“Who’s losing teeth?” Jamie asked, joining the conversation from the doorway with a furrowed brow.
“We are discussing nightmares,” Jan explained matter-of-factly, then turned back to Richard. “Dreams about losing teeth are commonly attributed to stress.”
Jamie shook his head, still looking confused.
“Nah, don’t get that one, mate. Your dentist can just stick ‘em right back in, can’t they?”
That sparked a round of horrified protests and Jamie flapped his hands like a conductor to quiet the rabble.
“Eh, eh, I’m right!”
“Actually…” Sam held up his phone, open on an NHS webpage. “Jamie is correct.”
The locker room erupted into disgust and outrage while Jamie grinned smugly and tipped his I,COG cap to Sam for the assist.
“Hold on, how did you know that?” Isaac demanded, staring at Jamie like he had two heads. That quietened the team a little as heads swivelled in Jamie’s direction.
“Knocked two of ‘em out when I were, like, 10.” He shrugged and tapped a fingernail against one of his front teeth in demonstration. “Mum’s friend were a dental nurse. Told her to put them in some milk and take me to hospital.”
“You were very lucky.” Sam commented, still scrolling through the information he had found. “A significant gap in your teeth can lead to premature ageing.”
“And what a tragedy that would have been, eh?” Jamie beamed, gesturing to his face. “To think I might have deprived the world of this top tier mug.”
Other players groaned and laughed, a few tossing socks or discarded shirts in Jamie’s direction while he ducked, sniggering.
“How do you know they gave you your real teeth back?” Bumbercatch questioned, with an air that suggested great suspicion of the dentistry profession as a whole.
Jamie considered that. “Fair point,” he conceded. “They feel like mine, though.”
“Wait, how do you even manage to lose two teeth at once?” Colin interjected, muffled by his fingers as he prodded his own mouth in confusion. “I’ve never lost any after my baby teeth.”
“Took a snooker cue to the face.” The team winced as a collective and Jamie nodded sagely. “Were pretty grim. Blood all over the pub floor and everything.”
“You were 10?” Thierry clarified, face scrunched up. “Do kids normally get into bar fights here?”
“Well, yeah, s’pose not.” Jamie shuffled in place, suddenly looking a bit uncomfortable. “Weren’t a fight so much. Dad took me in to watch a match and it all kicked off a bit.”
An uneasy quiet overtook the general hubbub and more than one face went stony at that revelation.
“Mate.” Jeff looked like he’d rather not be the one probing further, but had bitten the bullet anyway. “Your, uh, your dad wasn’t the one with the pool cue, was he?”
“Eh…” Jamie glanced around the room before answering. “Well, yeah. He was. But I’m, like, 90% sure it were an accident.”
Chaos detonated like a bomb.
Isaac and Richard jumped to their feet, one cursing in French, the other demanding to know how long it would take to get to Manchester. Colin seemed to be googling train times.
Dani had taken to rifling through his bag, looking for god knows what, and Thierry was strapping on his mask like it was war paint (he didn’t even need it anymore, he just liked looking scary).
Jan was a terrifyingly silent pillar in the middle of the storm and Sam… Well, Sam looked like he had been gutted.
“OI!” Roy’s bellow commanded immediate silence, players freezing mid-shout. He was framed by the door to the coaches’ office, arms crossed and typical glare set in place. “What the fuck is going on out here?”
“Close ranks!” Jamie all but squeaked, invoking a hallowed, sacred vow from the team to collectively shut the fuck up.
All eyes turned to Issac who, as captain, had the final say.
On balance, he decided it was probably best that their new manager didn’t get arrested for murder before the season even got underway.
“Agreed.” he finally acquiesced and the whole room affirmed their compliance sullenly. It just wasn’t worth the forfeit to cave in under Roy’s (very effective) glare.
“... right then.” Roy finally allowed, still looking at them all suspiciously. “Then get out on the pitch and stop wasting our time.”
Everyone clamoured towards the tunnel, eager to escape the intense atmosphere. All except Jamie, who was still hurriedly pulling on his kit.
He tried not to seize up when Roy sidled over.
“You’ll tell me later.”
It wasn’t phrased as a question and Jamie knew better than to take it as one. He slumped in defeat.
“Yeah. Probably.”

「Haikyuu boys as words of affirmation」
⤷ Bokuto
can’t go a period of 24 hours without complimenting you in some way; he constantly seeks to make sure you know your worth, most importantly, but also to let you know how much you mean to him. has a habit of whispering “you’re so good to me” at random times – especially when he’s giving you hugs or you’re hugging late at night. not a single day goes by without mentioning you around his friends or family, bringing up what you’ve accomplished in the past week, to the point where they bring up things about you that you didn’t know they knew. he speaks very highly of you no matter what you are going through.
“you’re the best, really. you are the light of my life. i can do anything when i’n with you!”
⤷ Kuroo
will put random notes in your bag for you to find later; mostly little reminders to take care of yourself and rest when you need to - just to know that he’s always thinking of you and that he’s your biggest fan. on these long days he says how proud he is of you because you’re survived another day. he has an amazing and unique way of encouraging you, and when he says something to you, you know he’s speaking from the bottom of his heart - no matter how many times he says he loves you, you always know it’s from the heart because that’s the kind of person he is.
“i think this is kind of obvious, but you are and always will be my favorite person. i love you… forever”
⤷ Atsumu
tells you how beautiful you are the second you wake up. never forgets to compliment your outfit when he sees you, even if you’re in your pajamas; the biggest smile on his face as he compliments you. just like bokuto, he can’t go a period of 24 hours without expressing his love and admiration for you. and he always has to look you in the eye as he holds your hand, playing with your fingers as he talks to you. definitely likes to seal it with a kiss, just because he loves your lips. he also likes to write cheesy love letters where he expresses his admiration for you.
“you know… you were the best thing that ever happened to me and i will never let you go. i love you more than any beautiful word or letter can express.”
⤷ Osamu
he’s always so happy and proud of you; no matter how big or small the accomplishment - that said, he doesn’t like it when you minimize your own accomplishments. so with every negative thing you can say about yourself, he always has five amazing things to strike back. and when you turn away from him, covering your face because of the wide smile, he makes you look at him and tells you how beautiful your smile is and that you should smile more.
“you are precious to me. so, of course, i want to hear every thought inside your head. what do you think matters to me. you are important to me.”
⤷ Oikawa
he always knows how to use the right words to make you melt and smile like a fool; he compliments you in the most beautiful and gentle way of all and then hugs you as if to demonstrate that he really meant it. he also likes to brag about you to his friends, saying how beautiful and smart you are and how lucky he is to have you in his life; he’s the type of person who wouldn’t stop talking about his partner for a single second - which always pisses everyone off but he honestly doesn’t care, he’s too in love to care about anything else in the world.
“sometimes i can’t believe you’re real, you know? that’s why i talk about you a lot, to see if i didn’t create you or something” he says and pokes your cheeks, making you smile.
⤷ Nishinoya
he always compliments you at random times of the day; tells you how beautiful and soft your hair is, how your clothes suit you and how beautiful you look, about how beautiful your smile is and how he loves to make you smile. he could spend all day listing all the things he loves most about you and believe me, he did it. he quotes them to you when you feel insecure or sad about yourself; he is quick to lift your mood by praising you and joking at the same time.
“see? you do have the most beautiful smile i’ve ever seen in my entire life! god, you are the love of my life..”
⤷ Kenma
gets quite nervous when he’s complimenting you; he can’t keep eye contact for too long, but you know he’s serious. the way he talks to you or about you, especially when he’s talking from the bottom of his heart, he might cry - because he loves you so much that sometimes he can’t put it into words. he values and loves you more than you can imagine and he tries his best to show it in every possible way (especially at night when he thinks you are sleeping and he starts whispering sweet things while caressing your cheek)
“i don’t know how to explain it, but you mean a lot to me. it’s like i’m addicted to you.”
⤷ Suna
the way he compliments you can be subtle at times, but they never fail to make butterflies appear in your stomach; “you are so.. beautiful” he sighs passionately and you melt right there. he smiles and goes to hug you, stroking your hair and saying everything he loves about you; your personality, your strength, your kindness, your heart… everything. he loves you completely and will never stop loving you because his heart is totally yours.
“sometimes i think about how lucky i was to have found you; and i’ll never stop thanking you. i love you, okay? forever”
⤷ Sakusa
likes to text you throughout the day as a way of keeping up with you, even if you can’t reply right away. he has a kind of sly way of praising you, he can call you an idiot, but he always keeps praising you; it’s not that he wants you to feel inferior, he just has a complicated way of expressing his love for you, usually choosing to show it with his actions. in those times when he allows himself to be soft, he always tells you that you are the best thing that happened in his life and he wouldn’t know where he would be without you.
“you will always be mine. i won’t leave your side, ever, idiot”
⤷ Hinata
sends those very sweet and wholesome memes at random times of the day because he is thinking about you and wants to brighten your day even if just a little bit. sometimes he can’t verbally express how he’s feeling - especially if it’s something emotional - so he tends to send super-specific memes (which he creates sometimes) just to say his feelings. he’s soft-spoken, so most of the time his compliments are super cute; extra in love with you with the biggest smile ever seen on his face - all because of you. and when he can make you as happy as you make him, and make you smile just as much, everything in the universe begins to make sense.
“we make a good team, don’t we, baby?”

Random thoughts about Pit Babe the series ep 13:
This is the last episode and what a ride it was. I'm sad we have to say bye to the first Thai BL Omegaverse and every characters from this series. Friday won't be the same.
▪️ Of course, Babe and Charlie are back together. Babe didn't really resented Charlie for making him experienced grief and faking his death. As always, Charlie has always been very lucky with Babe. It must be the power of love. I know I should be disappointed they didn't give them the time to talk about it but it was the last episode and to be honest I'm glad we didn't spend too much time on it. Babe experienced too much sadness and grieves in this series. At least, he didn't have to do it more for Charlie. They are very much in love and happy together and I'm glad for them.
▪️ Babe had his reunion with his father after so many years. He got the chance to express how he felt about this separation. It wasn't my favorite part of the series but it was needed for Babe. I felt like his father appeared too late on the story. It came at the worst possible moment, for me. I wish he was more involved. I can't even understand why he didn't come to Babe when he escaped Tony's place and became a racer. At least, they mended their relationship.
▪️ As for Alan and Jeff, I was really waiting for them to be together in previous episodes and I'm glad in this episode they didn't have to face any hardships. Alan saved his boyfriend and they are happy together. They may be less demonstrative than Charlie and Babe, but what matters is that they are in a loving relationship.
▪️ Winner was still a sore loser. It's funny how his name don't match his personality or actions. He got what he deserves. He was a terrible person. I never had any interest for him. It's not like he never got a chance to be better. Kim tried several time in the series to make him understand that his actions will face consequences and he never listened.
▪️ Tony died! Now, he will never hurt anyone again and all those children are free from his abuse and greed. Kenta is the one who killed him and I think it was the perfect choice. He has been the one who stayed the longest with him and he was brainwashed into believing crumbs of affection (mostly giving him a shelter and not letting him dying alone) was love. He did many bad things in the name of love because he thought he would one day be loved the way he deserved or because he thought he could only do that. This character moved me a lot. I'm glad his free now. It's sad that we didn't get anything after he killed Tony. We don't know what happened to him. Is he taking care of the children? How does he live with the guilt? Is he in contact with Pete?
▪️ Finally, it's time to talk about Way. He wasn't my favorite character but I felt pity for him. In the last two episodes, he tried to redeem himself. He apologizes for his wrongdoing and lies. He actively helped Way and Babe to take down Tony, as well. He also sacrificed his life... and I'm not happy about that. I'm not used to see people dying in BLs. It's mostly the bad guys who are dying because when it's not the case it hurts too much (Yes I'm talking about you History 3: Make Our Days Count. I will never forgive you for the pain!). Way wasn't exactly a good guy but I wanted him to have a real chance to make amends. I wasn't expecting him to die for real. Until the last moment, I thought his death wasn't real and he would appeared. Pete and Way never had a chance to have a relationship. I thought they were supposed to be together. Why?!
The series ended with a positive note because Charlie x Babe, Alan x Jeff and Kim finally being able to compete in a real racing team. However, I'm still feeling a little letdown by what happened to Way, but also about Kenta and Pete in some way. I still consider Pit Babes a really enjoyable series and I had so much fun watching it. It will be a pleasure to watch it again sometimes.
I also hope we'll get to see every actors again in another series, with maybe another pairing because they are all very good and have amazing chemistry. Special mention to Pavel and Nut who know how to be pretty criers. Gale's Analysis: 5 things the movie did better and Vice Versa: Miraculous version.
So for this little post I will be writing things I would list that the Miraculous Movie did better for me than the show did and vice versa.
I think both medias have flaws but both also give us something great and I think both should be appreciated.
Rules:
I wont be mentioning ANYTHING asthetic (Thats a budget thing and I wont penalize the show for not having the budget the movie does) These are purely writing choices and scene inclusions.
2. These choices doesnt always mean that the show or Movie handled something badly, it just means I prefer how they were handled. by the Respective media.
3. I will only be including things that are covered in both the film and movie.
4. I would love to hear what you guys preferred and your opinions
I will start off with the Movie and alternate.
(Spoilers if you havent seen the movie or the season 5 finale of the show)
5. Movie: Using Criminals as Akumatized villains
Its such a simple idea, as the Akuma often use the negative emotions of the individuals, and thats what I loved about the movie. Of course if the logic is the more negative the emotions the more powerful, why not recruit the people who let their lives get ruined by their negative impulses.
It ups the danger factor and allows for more cartoonish violence. They get defeated and then get sent to jail. Maybe it makes Akuma seem simpler, but I like it and it results in a villain song that slaps.
5. Show: The way the Heroes were chosen
While on one hand I enjoyed the Kwami picking their chosen in the movie. I actually like how Fu tested the ones in Origins. Both Marinette and Adrien demonstrated their kind hearted and caring natures before getting the miraculous. In the movie we do see Marinette save Fu though unrelated to being chosen, which was great but we dont see Adrien ever do that before becoming Chat noir. And I feel that loses something in the process.
4. Movie: Powers: Stronger together (Not just the song)
The cat and Ladybug miraculous get more powerful when used together. That is something I have wanted since the beginning of the series. It lets both miraculous stand out from the other miraculous and shows why having these two together is such a big deal. This movie does drill it into the viewers head, but its such a cool concept and it is something I wish was in the show.
4. Show: Powers: Lucky Charm
I miss when Ladybug summons an object to help defeat the villain. i know in the movie they go a bit different with how the powers work, but I miss the random items that would then be utilized in order to help them best the bad guys. Marinette is still her clever self when she wants to be in the movie... but it isnt as clear and would have elevated the movie.
3. Movie: Tikki
I think Tikki f***ing kills it in this movie. Her energy, curiosity, her flair. HER RAP! Tikki is exactly what I picture when I see a Kwami of Creation. She was perfect for getting Marinette's butt in gear and being the instigator. She is Marinette's Motivator not her conscience. Tikki has been doing this for Eons and she knows what to do.
3. Show: Plagg
By a MASSIVE Margin, Plagg is much better portrayed in the show. His bond with Adrien is much more pronounced, his personality isnt reduced to being lazy and making Fart jokes. Plagg in the movie does give advice, but Show Plagg has a much more innate care for Adrien even early on. Plagg's bond with Adrien in the show is one of the best things about it.
2. Movie: Ladynoir
Oh I can hear a TON of anger forming from seeing this on my list. But let me explain. I like the fact that they didnt get along right away and grew to like eachother. In the show it makes sense to have them more in sync off the jump, but in the movie it shows how their powers are LINKED to them being closer. So the development is great. And while the show has the appeal of the lovesquare and identities being a secret. The Movie doesnt have that limitation, they are doing the secret identities for their own benefit. Chat noir gets to be more open with Ladybug. And Stronger together as a duet f***ing slaps. Now in the show there are some ladynoir moments that are amazing "Us against the world." Fantastic. And i would argue the show has highs the movies never reached, BUT The problem is though, in the show, that basically gets tossed to the side so often its hard to appreciate it and the lows are more present. In the movie, it is able to keep that basis steady. Plus this movie was made for Ladynoir, lets face it.
2. Show: Marinette and Adrien (As Characters)
I think it is obvious to say that the show has a lot more time to flesh out Marinette and Adrien. Now I do enjoy their movie incarnations, but seeing How Marinette developed her confidence overtime and her reasons for being how she is, as well as Adrien wanting more love and acceptance. The movie never really gets to show how kind and caring both of them are. Something the show gets to demonstrate. Though the flaws are there, it is a deeper ocean to explore. Movie Marinette and Movie Adrien are wonderful, but when it comes to the core, the originals shine brighter.
1. Show: Adrinette (As well as Ladrien and Marichat)
Yes I am swapping back to the show before the movie. I dont care its my list. Adrien and Marinette are f***ing adorable. The umbrella scene is still one of my favorite moments in the series, and seeing how the two fall in love is wonderful. Its a slow burn and its usually pretty damn good. Granted the love rival bump was stupid, but hey not everything is perfect. Also the Ladrien (while not much as much as the other sides) exists in the show and gets a lot of mileage. And Marichat, do I even have to explain? Most of you marichat stans are still watching Elation. The show handles the core aspect that the viewers WANT to see. The slow burn romance. That is where its at. And while the movie does show Adrien and Marinette having some cute encounters, some stuff was cut and it just cant hold a candle to the adrinette in the show.
Its the beauty and love that has me still holding onto the show... no matter the writing choices it has taken. And trust me when I say MY LOVE for the lovesquare has been tested more than Heracles.
1. Movie: Gabriel Agreste
If someone told me I would ever have sympathy for Gabriel Agreste. I would looked them in the eyes and LAUGHED at them. But somehow this movie did what the show failed to do. They turned this neglectful asshole into my favorite part of the movie. The movie makes me understand WHY he is so absent with Adrien, yet still show how much he loves his son. He is a widower lost in grief filled with Survivor's guilt. He is so lost and desperate to bring her back that he was willing to sacrifice his own heart to get her back... but then, he sees his son, damaged by his own hands. He sees the monster he became and it broke him. He fell down and realized he had done something inexcusable in his mind. He let his loss hurt his little boy.
The movie doesnt get as much time as the show to flesh out Gabriel, but sweet kwami does the movie show more than enough. We see his intial reluctance, we see his grief win over and then his obsession and hatred growing. We see him get disheveled and at the brink yet still checking on his son. We see him realize how far gone he is and just let the darkness take control, and finally we see the revelation! Him waking up to the truth, what he did to his son. He breaks down, he confesses. THIS is a Gabriel that you understand how he fell. This Gabriel was shown to the Audience. But you know what the best part is? He isnt shown as a hero, Paris knows he became a villain. He does get to hug his son and apologize, but he acknowledges his wrongs.
The show did have a chance to do that (I would say season 2 was their best bet) But sadly they tossed that out and the ending of the Agreste arc (as far as we know because everyone says its not the end. But its the end.) Was not what I call good.
So when it comes down to it, Gabriel Agreste became the Villain once dreamed he would be in this movie.

Percy Jackson and The Olympians Season 1 Review (2/3)
Part 1 • Part 3
What I dislike:
The action scenes are lacking. An example is Percy fighting Mrs Dodds: 1rst-Why did it happen in front of everyone? That makes not sense. Yes, the Mist hides stuff but if a woman attacks a teenager everyone will see it! 2nd- It was weirdly paced. Like one second Mrs Dodds was standing and the next she was dead. It took me a second to realize what happened. It was anticlimactic and Percy basically did nothing,he was just lucky Riptide opened up just in time to stop her. Another scene like that was the fight against Ares. To me it was "just fine" yet not epic. I feel it should be a little longer and I wish to see more of Ares using his battle tactics and powers, he is the God of War after all. Again, it is ok for what it is but it definitely could and should have been a bigger moment as a season finale, as Percy's moment to be a hero and prove himself, and as a demonstration of power level and difference between a mortal and a God! Also, it feels kinda insane that a guy with almost no training can defeat Ares so easy. That is a problem that stems from the lack of screen time at Camp in the first episodes, seeing Percy learning how to fight; sadly it backfired in the season finale. And you may say "well, these scenes include kids so is harder to make a bigger, more explosive, more incredible action scene than if they were adults" but it's possible. In House Of The Dragon a scene with five children fighting with only sand,a rock (that is not even used) and a dagger has way more tension than the God of War fighting our hero. The Minotaur scene was fine too. There are some changes like in the book Sally tried her best to distract it but because she is a normal human she could not do much, the whole taunting the Minotaur was Percy's stuff showing his bravery (I like the idea of Sally doing that to protect her baby tho,is cute) and Percy discovered in the process that he has inhuman agility and strength; so what they changed it's fine, my only complaint would be that the scene was super dark (all night scenes are) and it was hard to see what was going on,but I feel that at this point that is a Hollywood problem, so wathever
In the book,at the battle of Percy vs Ares,Kronos himself stops Ares from killing Perseus, but here it did not happen. That moment foreshadows Kronos interest in Percy because he wants to use him as a basel
Percy intelligence is heavily underused. In the books Percy constantly connects the dots and clues to figure out who people/monsters/Gods are; in addition to getting out of situations in creative and fun ways. Here there is none of that . An excellent example is the Lotus Casino. Book Percy figured out people there get trapped while he was talking with two boys who were not from this century. In the show Hermes just told him (which by the way, making Hermes own the place makes him an asshole who traps people for some reason, and as a Hermes fan it makes me angry).
While fighting Echidna, she do not have telekinesis powers or something, Percy is being chased by her chihuahua/Chimaera and he, of his own free will, decides to jump to the water showing his bravery and how willing he is to believe his dad has his back, and he is damn right! His father helped him and he learned that he can breathe underwater. All of these if missing
Percy did not speak even once with horses, that was the whole purpose of the Zebra, which also didn't appear in an episode titled "We Take A Zebra To Vegas"
The school acting like Percy is the son of Satan himself and that the best is for Sally to teach him from home. All of this because Percy drawing something so horrible,so despicable,so wicked ...a Pegasus(?) Like WTF! that the stupidest stuff I have ever seen. A kid drawing a Pegasus is not a sign of alarm,is a sign of being a kid, you fucking morons! Its imagination and creativity, and that's it,you are supposed to work with children, how can you be scared of that?! And if a kid is wondering around in the school's rooftop, that's on the school not the child. You supposed to be taking care of him, what is a kid doing there? That's your fault for being irresponsible!
They leaving Crusty free and happy, knowing he is a serial killer, wtf! All that scene was really weird in general. Percy just walked into the store without explaining how and when they found that place, how they know the Underworld is there, and they already knew everything about the store and Crusty,it felt unnatural and unearn. And in the book Crusty doesn't guard the doors to the Underworld, because why the Gods would leave that job to a guy like that? That's Charon's job
Lotus Casino (refering to the inside, the outside is really cool) was kinda boring, and they were trapped there and not go intentionally. It is tempting for children, that is why there are games for them to play. There is a waterslide, an indoor bungee jumping bridge, hundred of videogames. Here almost everything is just gambling and I know it is a casino but in the book is cooler. And there is VR games too, and that's it.
Charon, in both the books and any myth ever, would let you pass if you give him coins,so why did they change that and make him have control over Cerberus? Is a strange decision
The Underworld is supposed to have this kinda silly elements that subvert your expectations of it,like Charon loving suits, there are lines of new people(souls) arriving, and this fun banner that reads "Judgement For Elysium And Eternal Damnation. Welcome, Newly Deceased!" , Percy mentioned he could see Sisyphus at the distance. In the show we don't see the freaking River Styx! No Elysium and seeing Percy deciding that there is where he wants to be once he dies, I think that shows his character. No Persephone's Garden with her pomegranate trees. And the Fields of Asphodel (also known as Asphodel Meadows) are not a forest,are....well,meadows; I know, shocking, kinda hard to figure that out. By the way, that is another strange change because Rick knows what Asphodel looks like, that is why he represented them as an never ending field with the "largest concert crowd" with no electricity and no noise. Ah,also, missed opportunity for a Hazel easter egg
Hades is so TERRIBLE that I almost cried! Disney, we are talking about the King of the Underworld! Do you have idea what kind of creatures live there and they'll respect and fear him? In the books is important that he resents (hardcore) his family. His children inherit that as a fatal flaw. The reason is he had two children with momma di Angelo and he loved them dearly but Zeus wanted to kill them, and finally killed her, Hades only could save the children. Add insult to injury when his 2 brothers had children and received no repercussions for it. It is the reason he did not join the war against his father until the last second (thanks Nico!) . He also feel he got the worst job and he neither lives nor is allowed freely visit the cool, bright Olympus. All of it made him a cold person. Show Hades does not feel like he went through all of that, and if he did, it is like he did not care much. The writers are taking away his complexity and now he is a joke, a boring one.
Zeus was bad too but in a different way. He is just meh, did not make me feel anything in particular. I think it may be because when I imagine Zeus I picture him as a guy with beard, kinda like Santa Claus lmao and Lance Reddick (may he rest in peace, love him) looks nothing like him, so it was hard for me to believe he was Zeus. Maybe is just a me problem to be honest. Also, they made him kinda dumb because when Percy told him his dad is planing a war, he is just like "yeah I know, but right now is more important to fight your dad Poseidon" and that is extremely stupid,to be honest

The scene with Shi Ying and his monstrous father is genuinely painful. Shi Ying may be a magic powerhouse but he’s terribly young and he’s been horrifically wounded by the man and in his quiet, contained way, he’s been living damaged ever since.
Unreasonable awful monster parents do not become better and daddy is still horrific, acting as if he’s owed filial piety and familial love. I loved Shi Ying just cutting his hair to demonstrate ending any ties...
I did not know trying to murder your son and then branding him a murderer, traitor and scum and abusing his mother qualifies as kindness...
He slaps Shi Ying and the thing is, despite all the world-obliterating power Shi Ying has, he lets the man and it says volumes. Emperor should thank his lucky stars because that’s more filial than the man should be.
Zhu Yan has more balls than most of the male characters put together, standing for Shi Ying to the freaking emperor, telling it like it is and mincing no words.
I love Shi Ying’s face here because she really is the only person who has consistently stood up for and defended him not because of what he is (someone who can be used for revenge or power) but because of who he is - a person she likes and cares for and admires because of his character and innate qualities, not because of what he can do for her or even because it’s expected (his mom loved him but she was his mom, she was supposed to love him, not that it helped him with his dad; but for Zhu Yan loving him is not a default, it’s a choice.) For a man whose own father threw him away so horrifically and who the whole kingdom vilified (and who’s going through this mark 2 now - with being vilified once again for what he actually didn’t do, via merpeople and being confronted with his horrible father again) this must be like water in the desert.
You can tell that even now some small part of Shi Ying hopes daddy evilest will GET it and you know, if he did, maybe the relationship could be salvaged in some capacity, but if the man was rational and decent, we wouldn’t have been here in the first place.
He can’t hurt Shi Ying (as Zhu Yan reminds him) so his solution? To lash out at Zhu Yan, for speaking the truth but also to hurt Shi Ying in whatever way he can.
The way Shi Ying wouldn’t even really speak to his father but he kneels for Zhu Yan and begs and attempts to take the guilt on himself AAAAAA
Daddy has not a scintilla of generosity in that shriveled soul so he just enjoys fucking with his kid for the crime of...being a victim who won’t take it lying down from his abuser?
That woman? Spine of titanium.
Did I mention daddy was all “sure you are powerful enough to take her away, but then her fam will pay for her crime.” I need that man to die gruesomely, please!

3rd anni req 6: belphie, astaroth / stellar confession
ao3 link
note: i've done some scribblings before for our main pairings in my own time, but i think this is the first thing i've written in earnest with romance as the focus for jtta! all things considered, i'm happy with this - "no.1 boyfriend enjoyer", this is for you
∎ ∎ ∎ ∎ ∎
It isn’t so much a surprise as it is an irritation when the penny finally drops.
It starts on an idle night, lying in the observatory, whiling away the hours with only the stars - and the voice on the other end of the phone - for company. And it happens like this:
Astaroth says something about how late it is. Belphie yawns and mumbles, “I dunno. I can’t sleep without hearing your voice.”
And neither of them acknowledge it. Eventually, he drifts off, knowing that Astaroth will be able to tell and end the call in his stead, and that is the end of that. Until morning, anyway.
He wakes up in a snap, and his lethargy vanishes faster than it’s ever done before. There is only one thought on his mind: why did I say that??
It isn’t true - demonstrably. He takes naps all the time, usually without warning, and certainly without needing to talk to anyone first. He was probably just talking without thinking. He does that a lot when he’s about to drift off.
But then he thinks about it a little more, and suddenly he realises how many nights in recent memory he’s spent on the phone. Not all of them, surely - Lucifer would kill him for doing that so many times consecutively - but a lot of them.
So he decides to run a little test. Next time he feels the need to pick up his D.D.D. and scroll down to that specific contact, he’ll ignore it. This much he should be able to manage without much issue, mostly because it requires an absence of physical effort, which is his specialty.
Except it doesn’t. He keeps having to stop himself from reaching for his phone - as in, practically has to restrain himself from moving. That’s the first part that gives him pause.
The second part comes late at night. He should be able to drop off without a problem. Instead, he tosses and turns, counting the weird noises Beel makes in his sleep, and nothing happens for hours on end.
Conclusion: he wasn’t just saying nonsense. These days, once he feels the urge, he really can’t get to sleep without hearing Astaroth’s voice first.
This is troubling news. He tells IK so the next time they have a video call.
She isn’t looking at the camera when he does, and she doesn’t take her eyes off whatever she’s doing at first. “That’s kind of normal, isn’t it? Honeymoon phase or something.”
“Honeymoon phase?”
IK turns to the camera with a blink. “...you’re not going out?”
“Going out where?”
IK is quiet for a very long time. It gives him a distinct feeling that she’s disappointed in him.
“...you aren’t dating?” She asks finally.
“D— what?” His head had started drooping, but now he sits bolt upright. “Huh??”
IK is doing the same face Satan does when he’s about to ask ‘Are you stupid?’ - so before she can, Belphie continues, “That’s not a thing. That’s never been a thing. Stop looking at me like that.”
“Belphie,” IK says, with that endless patience that she is definitely too young to have, “Have you even noticed that you like him?”
Belphie stares blankly at her little face on the screen. And then it finally hits him.
“...oh.”
IK sighs loudly. He hurries to defend himself. “I wasn’t paying attention to it! I thought it was just— I don’t know, I didn’t have time for that.”
“You’re so lucky I’m not there right now,” Ik says very seriously. “Or else I’d hit you. Actually, can you do it for me?”
“Already ahead of you, twinkle.” He knocks himself firmly on the head, then slumps onto his arms with a groan. “So that’s what that was about.”
“What did you think it was about? You’ve been on a billion dates now.”
“I didn’t know they were dates! And there definitely weren’t a billion. Wait, how do you even know about that?”
“‘Cause Asmo tells me everything. You even stopped saying that they weren’t dates - we thought you’d just figured it out.”
Now that he thinks about it - he hasn’t been denying any of those accusations lately. At some point, without him noticing, they had become dates, so he hadn’t sensed anything off when Asmo referred to them as such. So he hadn’t corrected him.
He leaves that conversation with a great deal of enlightenment that he rather wishes he hadn’t received.. Now that the thought’s in his mind, he can’t stop lingering on it - overthinking every little detail in the same way Satan does every bit of background symbolism every time they watch a play. And it drives him crazy, but now he can’t even make fun of him for it, because he’d be throwing stones at glass houses.
He thinks about going to one of his brothers for advice - but the very notion sends a shiver up his spine. The most he can do is vent to Beel, because the others certainly will not have any useful advice to offer.
Which leaves him with one other option. At times like this, Belphie does wish his main other confidant wasn’t a kid thousands and thousands of years his junior. It’s beginning to feel rather humiliating to keep consulting her on this subject when he should almost certainly know better than her.
“Just say something,” IK says one day, clearly sick of it all. Even if her advice has been working so far, there’s only so many suggestions she can come up with.
“It isn’t that easy.”
She sighs loudly, and he imagines the sharp look she’d be giving him if she was there - the one that just kind of makes him want to pinch her cheek. “It’ll make you feel better. Seriously, you can’t keep going like this forever. It’s like you’ve gone crazy.”
“Maybe I am crazy now,” He grumbles, but it does make him think.
Quite frankly, it is embarrassing how much he’s been acting the fool as of late. It’s not like him to be flighty and unsure - he’s blunt by nature, but so is Astaroth, and he’s not sure just how devastating a rejection could be from someone of so few words.
IK’s right. Even if it doesn’t go the way he wants it to, it’ll be over at the very least. He has to do something about this… only then will he finally know peace.
Some might say he’s being dramatic. When the moment finally arrives, though, he thinks he’s being anything but.
His heartbeat sounds like a drumline. That shouldn’t be allowed. Nothing should just be able to do that to you - it’s so unfair.
They’ve been on this hill so many times already that he’s lost count, but tonight every blade of grass feels fresh and new. There’s a slight chill on the breeze, but he can barely feel it.
They gaze up at the stars in silence. Belphie lies in the grass as if it is his bed - ungraceful, but comfortable. Astaroth lies in the grass like he’s in a painting.
He sighs quietly. Nothing for it.
“Astaroth,” Belphie says, and everything else comes out in one breath. “I think I’m in love with you.”
The night is quiet. He feels too tense to even move, so he keeps staring at the sky instead.
“...what?”
“Don’t make me say it again,” He mumbles - as much a plea as it is a quip. “You heard me.”
“I know.” He can hear a smile on his voice. The question is whether it’s earnest or sarcastic - because sometimes, it really is hard to tell with Astaroth. “I just want to hear it one more time.”
“Fine,” He says, a little sharper than he meant to. “I’m in love with you. Happy now?”
It’s quiet again. After a moment, Astaroth admits, “I think you’re the only demon in the world who could say that to me and mean it.”
“Don’t be stupid. I bet you’ve got tons of fans.”
“Maybe. But you’re the only one I want to believe.”
“Just believe?”
“You’re the only thing I like looking at more than the stars. What do you think?”
He hadn’t expected to hear the words back - not in the same way he said them, anyway, because Astaroth is only ever literal when he doesn’t have to put his own feelings out on the line. He thinks he’s gone and outdone him, though. His heart is doing stupid things in his chest.
Belphie waits for a moment. Nothing happens, and he can’t quite keep a plaintive lilt out of his voice when he prompts, “So?”
“So?” repeats Astaroth.
“You can’t touch the stars. But I’m not far away like they are. Aren’t you going to do something about it?”
There’s that teasing smile again. Belphie’s beginning to suspect that Astaroth has known exactly what he was doing this whole time. “Like what?”
He inches closer, until there’s barely a breath between them, and wonders how long they have before someone comes looking for them. “I don’t know. Figure it out.”

On This Wild Night — Part Five
Notes: there are five consecutive lines of this chapter that reduced me to tears whilst writing. They’re not even sad or happy or anything, I’m just an emotional mess. A warning for drunken dad dancing and an incredibly lightly described intimate scene. Anyway, thanks to all who’ve been reading, especially those who have liked/commented/reblogged along the way. Means the world as always. Lots of love x
Previous — Masterlist
Arthur Weasley was drunk. Artemis had never seen him this drunk before. She might have actually preferred drunk Arthur to regular Arthur. Drunk Arthur was definitely more fun to dance with.
“Muggles call this one ‘the sprinkler’,” he informed Artemis, demonstrating a dance move.
“That’s a great one,” replied Artemis, copying him. “Arthur, what actually is a sprinkler?”
“I have absolutely no idea!”
Artemis laughed out loud as Arthur stopped ‘sprinkling’ and started to bob up and down, pinching his nose with one hand and wiggling the finger of the other hand.
“Where did you learn to dance like that?” she asked him.
“At a wedding, of course! Muggleborn friends. Excellent fun.”
“As fun as this wedding?”
“No, this is the best wedding I’ve ever been to,” said Arthur. He suddenly stopped dancing, and leaned in towards Artemis. “Don’t tell my wife I said that.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t.”
“It’s not that I didn’t enjoy my own wedding. But, as a rule, weddings are more fun when you're not the one getting married. Less stressful, much less pressure.”
“Even if you’re making a speech?”
“Ah, that’s nothing,” Arthur said, swiping each of his hands across in front of his eyes with the two first fingers extended in a V-shape. “Just do what Ron and I did before ours.”
“What was that?”
“Drink.”
Artemis grinned. No wonder Arthur was dancing so flamboyantly.
“No, I love weddings,” Arthur continued. He put his fists in front of his chest, stuck his elbows out to the sides, and flapped them like a bird. “A whole day dedicated to people being in love with each other, and bringing their families together. What could be better than that?”
It was lucky, really, that the music was so loud. It meant that Artemis was able to get away with not saying anything in response to Arthur’s question. She forced a smile, and nodded her head in time to the music.
“Of course, today is a bit different,” said Arthur, not seeming to notice Artemis’ discomfort with where the conversation was heading, “because Harry’s been a part of our family for so long. It’s just that it’s all above board now. Official.”
“Yeah. Right,” said Artemis, her smile slipping from her face.
“It’s funny, him being my son-in-law. You know, I already thought of him as a son, in some ways. Molly, too. Adding the ‘in-law’ bit seems formal. Legal. I think it’s a bit of a downgrade, don’t you?”
“I dunno.”
“I think they need a new word. For sons and daughters that aren’t technically yours but might as well be. Maybe out-law. That would definitely suit you.”
“What do you mean, me?”
“Well, you’re already part of the family. Have been for years, haven’t you?” Arthur started to walk backwards without taking his heels off the ground between steps. Artemis had stopped dancing. She might have stopped breathing. “Maybe we should start calling you our daughter-out-law. I’ll suggest it to Molly later. I think she’ll like having a name for what you are to us. Naming things makes them less complicated, I’d say.”
Artemis threw her arms around Arthur with such force that he stumbled slightly, and almost toppled over.
“Sorry,” she said, letting go and using her arm to steady him. “I just… Thank you for saying that, Arthur.”
“What?”
“That I’m family.”
“Why would you not be?”
“Well, I’m not married.”
“Doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, all that comes down to is a signature on a piece of paper. Family is more than that. It’s not about blood, or paperwork, it’s about love. Just love.”
“You know, Muggles say that love is all you need,” Artemis said, within a smile that she didn’t even have to force.
“I’m not surprised. They’re ingenious, Muggles are.”
Artemis giggled as Arthur started to dance away from her, his daughter-out-law, and towards Fleur, his daughter-in-law, who regarded him with a look that was made up of amusement, endearment, and disdain, each in equal measure.
The music changed abruptly, and became slower. Artemis smiled as she recognised the song, and looked to see who she would need to congratulate on their superior taste in music.
She turned towards the gramophone and saw Charlie stood next to it, pocketing his wand and looking straight at her. She sighed, and crossed her arms in front of her chest, though she felt considerably less angry now. At some point in the last two hours, her burning rage had given way to a mild niggling annoyance without her even realising it.
Charlie walked over to her and held out his hands.
“May I?” he asked, and she looked at him sceptically.
“Depends. Are you still planning on moving to New Zealand?”
“No, I’m not.”
“Then yes, you may.”
“Thank you,” said Charlie, smiling so that his dimples showed and fine lines crinkled at the corners of his eyes.
He took her hands in his, and led her to the doorway of the marquee, where the music was a little quieter, and there was less bustle and noise from the party guests. The cool air of the garden brushed Artemis’ skin, a welcome change from the cloying heat that had built up inside the marquee, and the crescent moon could be seen hovering over the outline of the house. Charlie placed Artemis’ hands on his chest and slid his own around her waist so that they came to rest on the small of her back.
“So,” said Charlie, stepping slowly so that the two of them swayed ever so gently from side to side, “I spoke to my mum.”
“And?”
“I told her the score, and she’s going to stop hassling you now.”
“Thank you,” Artemis said, her voice barely more than a whisper.
“You’re welcome. I also did a bit of thinking, and I came to realise that I’ve maybe not been the best boyfriend in the world today.”
“How so?”
“Well, I’ve neglected you a little. I mean, I left you at the church so I could… ush, and again at dinner with Percy and Audrey so that I could suck up to Kingsley. Then I was mucking around with my brothers after the speeches, and I didn’t take you back to the house after you fell over, which would have stopped the whole fiasco with Mum.”
“Charlie, none of those things are bad.” Artemis frowned. “We are our own people, we don’t have to be together all the time. And I didn’t need you to take me anywhere, I was fine.”
“I know you were. If I’m being honest, I mainly came over because I didn’t want to look like I didn’t care as much as the others,” Charlie admitted. Artemis nodded; she had guessed as much. “Still, I feel bad about it now. Not just that, but... It’s just that today was always going to be kind of difficult emotionally for everyone, and I’ve been trying to make sure things are okay for everyone, and I forgot that maybe I should’ve been making sure things were okay for you. That today was going to be difficult for you, too.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, like at dinner. I was trying so hard to impress Kingsley that I didn’t really think how hard it must have been for you to be there opposite Teddy. I know how much he reminds you of Tonks, and I just stole Kingsley away from you and left you to deal with that on your own.”
Artemis said nothing. Charlie moved his left hand off her waist and used it to push a strand of hair back from her face, and she felt some of the tension that had risen in her when he mentioned Tonks’ son dissipate.
“And I acted like a total arse when you were upset about what Mum said to you.”
“It wasn’t your finest moment,” Artemis agreed, and both of them grinned. “But it wasn’t mine either. I shouldn’t have threatened you or shouted at you like I did. I overreacted a bit. I’m sorry.”
“Apology accepted, but I shouldn’t have needed you to shout or threaten me to talk to Mum about it. It was obvious that she’d upset you, I should have gone to her voluntarily to sort that out for you. At the very least, I should have been more sympathetic about it. And I don’t think you’d have reacted that badly if I had been a bit more… attentive to you earlier in the day. I’m sorry.”
“Apology accepted.”
“Thank Merlin for that,” said Charlie, and he lifted Artemis’ hand to his lips. He kissed the heel of it, then closed his own hand over it. Artemis smiled.
“Why weren’t you being more attentive?” she asked him. “You normally are. Even your mum and Ginny said so.”
Charlie paused before answering, “I think… I think my head’s just been a bit all over the place today.”
“Because of Fred?”
“Mainly. And Tonks. And Ginny.”
“Ginny’s right there.”
“I know, but it’s weird. She’s the youngest of all of us, and… I don’t know. She’s meant to be the baby, and now we are at her wedding.”
“Yeah. I understand.”
“And I don’t know why, but as soon as all of us siblings get together, we all suddenly revert to being like we were when we were kids.” Charlie grinned sheepishly. “I know that’s not really an excuse, but…” He swallowed. “Like I said, I’m sorry. Are we alright now?”
Artemis nodded. “More than alright.”
As she rose up onto her toes to kiss him, Charlie smiled hopefully.
“So, does that mean you’ll try and catch the bouquet for me?” he asked her.
“What’s the prize money?”
“Ten Galleons, including the two I put in.”
“That’s not bad,” said Artemis. She considered it for a moment, her eyes narrowed with scepticism. “You’re not going to spend all that money on dragons, though, are you?”
“No, ‘course not. I was thinking that I’d take you out for dinner.”
“Dinner?”
“Fancy dinner. One of those places with all the tiny little portions. I’ll buy you the world’s smallest ever Bakewell tart.”
Artemis pursed her lips and cocked her head.
“Will you wear that suit?” she asked.
“I will if you wear that bra.”
“Deal.”
“Just remember, this place is going to be really classy.” Charlie raised his eyebrows. “You can’t go taking your knickers off at the dinner table.”
“I probably just won’t wear any.”
Artemis gave Charlie a mischievous smile. He chuckled as he placed a kiss on her forehead, before resting his chin on top of her head.
“I love you.”
“You too.”
The song ended, and another started, faster and more lively than the one before. A broad smile spread across Artemis’ face as she recognised the tune. Judging by the way Charlie’s lips had twitched into a near-smirk, he’d chosen that one, too. He really was attentive. Either that, or he just knew her far too well by now.
As the tempo of the music increased, so too did the rate at which they swayed side to side, their feet dancing them to the centre of the room. Charlie lifted her arm above her head, and pushed her gently so that she spun underneath it, before catching hold of her waist once more.
Artemis’ smile grew wider still. He was more fun to dance with than anyone.
“Weasleys, assemble!”
Charlie and his brothers gathered by the gramophone as the female guests made their way into the middle of the marquee, ready for Ginny to throw the bouquet. Charlie could just about pick out Artemis’ bare feet amongst the high heeled shoes, stepping lightly as she moved restlessly through the throng of women.
“I don’t understand why I ‘ave to join in,” Fleur was saying to Bill. “I am already married!”
“It’s just a bit of fun,” Bill replied, kissing her on the cheek. “And I think that you’d be good at it.”
Once Fleur was in the crowd and out of the way, George brought out the bag of Galleons.
“This is it, lads,” he said. “Only one of us can win all the gold.”
Ginny closed her eyes, and threw the bouquet backwards over her head. A split second later, it was carnage.
The little crowd of women turned into a mob, a mosh, a scrum, scrambling and tackling each other to try and grasp the bunch of flowers. The brothers laughed and cheered them on from the sidelines, and after a minute or two of jostling, a hand appeared, rising from the rabble, clutching the now-crumpled bouquet. Each brother strained to see who that hand belonged to.
“YES, AUDREY!” bellowed Percy, throwing his fists into the air.
Somewhat begrudgingly, George handed Percy the bag of Galleons, and Percy shook each of his brothers’ hands in turn.
“Thank you, gentlemen,” he said pompously. “Pleasure doing business with you all.”
“What are you going to spend your winnings on, Perce?”
“Well…” Percy sniffed, and adjusted his glasses. “I'm thinking I might use them to purchase an engagement ring.”
Ron looked stunned, and Bill clapped Percy on the back. George hugged him, and Charlie shook his hand again, before Percy ran to Audrey, his arms outstretched.
“Well, fancy that,” a deep, reverberating voice said behind Charlie. He turned to see Kingsley Shacklebolt watching the women mingle in the centre of the marquee.
“I know.” Charlie shrugged. “All those Quidditch players, and not one of them caught the flowers.”
“I really thought it would be Tiny.”
Charlie followed Kingsley’s gaze to where Artemis was standing on one leg, rubbing the arch of her bare foot, as she chatted with a couple of women Charlie recognised from the Quidditch matches at school. Her eyes were still lit up from the exhilaration of the chase, her untameable hair had come almost completely loose, and there was a dark scuff mark on her shin. He smiled.
“At least she looks happy,” Kingsley said. Charlie wasn’t sure if he was addressing him or just thinking out loud, but he nodded anyway. “That’s what matters.”
“Yeah.”
“For a long time, I thought I’d never see her this happy.”
“So did I.”
“I should‘ve known that she would be. She might have had to fight for it, but she always was a fighter.” Kingsley chuckled, a rich, melodious sound. “She was such a tough little thing. Wild. But you know that.”
“I do,” said Charlie, his eyes still on Artemis. He laughed quietly to himself. “She still is.”
“No, that will never change.”
“I wouldn’t want it to.”
Kingsley patted Charlie on the shoulder, slowly and just once, and Artemis caught sight of them watching her. She ran towards them, holding one side of her dress up so she wouldn’t trip on the hem. As she approached them, Charlie shook his head in mock-disappointment.
“What was that?” he asked her. “Pathetic attempt at catching a bouquet. And you call yourself a Seeker!”
“Tell you what, Charlie, next wedding we go to, you can have a go. I doubt you could do better, especially against that Audrey.” Artemis looked over her shoulder at Percy and his soon-to-be fiancée, a dark look on her face. “That woman is feral. You have no idea.”
Charlie and Kingsley exchanged glances over the top of Artemis’ head.
“I’ll take your word for it,” Charlie said, trying not to laugh. “I’ll add her name to the list of women who scare me.”
“Is my name on that list?”
“I think it might be on there twice.”
Artemis nodded, clearly satisfied with that answer.
“I actually came over to say goodnight,” Kingsley told them.
“Are you off?”
“I am. It’s tiring work, this politics. But I’m sure I’ll see you soon, Tiny. You look beautiful tonight, by the way.”
Charlie stepped backwards and averted his eyes so that Artemis could say goodbye to Kingsley in private. When he felt her return to his side, he held his hand out for Kingsley to shake.
“It was good seeing you again.”
“You too, Charlie,” said Kingsley, shaking the hand Charlie extended to him. “Perhaps you would like to go for a drink next time you are in the country. You can tell me more about those dragons of yours.”
“Yes, that sounds great. Thank you, Mr…” Charlie stopped mid-sentence and corrected himself. “Thanks, Kingsley.”
The Minister for Magic bowed his head, and walked off to find the bride and groom. Charlie turned back to Artemis and put his arms around her shoulders.
“No fancy dinner for us, then,” he said with a sigh. Artemis smiled as she leaned against him, playing with the ends of his loose bow tie.
“That’s a shame. I was really looking forward to you wearing the suit again.”
“I can just wear it around the house some time. You can feel free to do the same with that bra, if you like.”
“I dunno.” Artemis took her hands off Charlie’s tie, placed them on her ribcage, and started to wriggle. “It’s actually not that comfy.”
Charlie watched her as she squirmed.
“Is it not?” he asked. She shook her head, and her nose twitched. She was lying. “Should we go home and take it off?”
A wolfish smile played on Artemis’ lips. Charlie took her right hand in his left, and they went off to say their goodbyes before they left the marquee.
Outside, the night had grown colder still. Charlie let go of Artemis’ hand and draped his jacket over her shoulders. She held out her arm, and he took hold of it, and with a sound like a firecracker, they disappeared from the darkened garden of the Burrow, and reappeared in the hallway of Artemis’ old house.
It was strange, the way things changed, Charlie thought, as he kicked off his shoes, and she pushed his jacket off her shoulders, letting it fall to the ground. She’d lived here when she was a child, before he even knew her. Before the first time he ever saw her, eleven years old and tiny and dishevelled and lost and all alone.
She’d lived here when she was thirteen, the age she was the first time he hugged her, he thought, as he held her in his arms. She unbuttoned his shirt and let that fall to the ground, too. He took hold of her wrists to reposition her hands, the way he had when she was fourteen, and he taught her to ride a broomstick.
She led him up the stairs, and he followed her — he always followed her — hand in hand, like they had been at sixteen, clinging to each other for comfort in the middle of a storm. At the top of the stairs he unzipped her dress, and she stepped out of it, almost bare, and so vulnerable, as vulnerable as she had been at just seventeen, when she was going through the unimaginable. He’d been there then. He’d seen it. He’d seen her through it. She got through it. She always did.
Her hands were at his belt, and his trousers were removed, exposing his legs. He’d tried to run from his feelings, he really had. He’d managed it for years, but… she placed his hands on his chest — the chest that held his heart, the heart that beat for her — pushed him into the bedroom.
His lips met hers, the way they had that very first time, as adults, on the edge of the forest whilst the world burned and raged around them. He’d thought that it was all over, that it was the end for both of them. But it wasn’t the end. It was just the beginning.
And as they sank down onto the bed — they’d had that first time in this very bed, too — and their bodies melted together, he knew that this was a beginning, too. Every moment, every single moment, was the first moment in the rest of their lives.
He’d loved her for half his life. He still loved her. And she loved him.
And that was enough.
It was enough.
“You know, after that I think I might be pregnant.”
At the sound of Charlie’s comment, Artemis lifted her head from his chest and stared at him. She was going to say something sarcastic, but at the sight of his boyish grin, she laughed instead. She lowered her head back down and felt his hands running through her hair. Placing her hand on his torso in front of her, she started to let her fingers dance over his skin, tracing patterns in his map of freckles like constellations. There was still one small doubt at the back of her mind.
“Charlie?”
“Yeah?”
“Would you say that I’m a part of your family?”
Charlie’s chest rose and fell as he took a deep breath.
“I would, yeah,” he said, quietly. Artemis’ eyebrows stopped knitting together. “Why do you ask?”
“Oh, no reason. Just something your mum said earlier, when she was trying to marry us off.”
“What was that?”
“It’s nothing really. Just that if we got married I’d be a real member of your family, that’s all.”
Charlie shifted his position so that he was propped up on his elbow, and Artemis moved off his chest.
“She said that to you?”
“It’s fine, Charlie.”
“No, it’s not.” Charlie shook his head, and brushed her cheek with his thumb. “That’s not okay, Artie. I’ll talk to her.”
Artemis blinked at him.
“What?” he said, and he raised his eyebrows at her. “I can do that now.”
“Do you want me to make you a certificate?”
“Very funny.”
“I mean, if you really want to talk to her about it, you can. You can do it when we go back to help take down the marquee tomorrow.”
“See, the thing is, I was thinking that maybe we don’t need to help. I mean, how many people does it take to put down a marquee, really? Maybe we just shouldn’t go.” At the look on Artemis’ face, Charlie grinned sheepishly. “I’m only joking. If you want me to mention it to her I will. Promise.”
“Nah, don’t worry. I actually spoke to your dad, and he said marriage was just a signature on a bit of paper and didn’t matter.”
“Definitely won’t be mentioning that to Mum.”
“Best not,” said Artemis, and she shuffled so that she and Charlie were lying face to face. “I just wanted to see what you thought, that’s all.”
“Right. Well, I’m with Dad on this one. You’re definitely my family.”
“I know that. I was thinking more about your actual family.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I always thought that I was kind of one of you, like I belonged. But after your dad’s speech about loving us because we love you, and especially when your mum said that, it made me think that maybe the only reason they think I fit in is because you do. That they love me for you, and not for myself, if you see what I mean.”
“I do see what you mean, but that’s not how it is at all. I don’t come into the equation. They love you. Just you. How could they not?”
Artemis didn’t say anything. She rolled over to look up at the ceiling, where through the skylight she could see the moon but not the stars. She felt the mattress move, and knew that Charlie had done the same.
“Would you ever want to do all that?” he said, speaking into the darkness. “Get married and have babies and everything?”
Artemis frowned. She didn’t really like babies. As much as she loved Victoire and Dominique for the simple reason that they were Bill’s children and her goddaughters, she wouldn’t want to have to be the one with them strapped to her all day, every day. Not to mention that she still struggled to even look at little Teddy Lupin, the way her own mother had struggled to look at her. If that was any indication of what she’d be like as a parent, she was better off not being one.
And if Arthur was right, and marriage really was just a signature on a piece of paper and weddings were less fun when they were your own, what was the point? Especially if it meant sacrificing a part of yourself, like Ginny had been worried about, she wasn’t sure she wanted that either.
Yes, it would make Molly happy, but it wasn’t really Molly’s choice, was it? It was hers. She made her own choices. She did what she wanted. She was free.
“No,” she said eventually. “Never. What about you?”
“I don’t know. I kind of always thought that one day I’d get married and have children, but I’m not sure if that’s something I actually want or whether it’s just because that’s what everyone else does, and what they all expect me to do as well.” Artemis felt Charlie shrug beside her. “Maybe one day. Definitely not now, though.”
“But one day you might?”
“Maybe. I really don’t know.”
“And if you do, what then? What about me?”
There was a pause, and then Charlie sat up. He turned so that he was facing the headboard, and pulled Artemis upright so that she was sitting facing him. Keeping hold of her hands, he ran his rough fingertips over her palms.
“Artemis, I don’t know what I’m going to want when it comes to getting married or having children, but I do know that I’d never want to do all of that — any of that — with anyone but you.”
“But I don’t want to do any of that.”
“I know. Listen,” he put both of Artemis’ hands into his right, and placed his left on the side of her face, his thumb resting on the small scar on her right cheekbone. “If it comes to the point where I have to make a choice between having none of those things with you or having any one of those things with someone else, I’m going to choose you. I will always choose you.”
“You can’t know that for sure.”
“I’m more sure of that than I am of anything else in the world.”
Artemis raised her eyebrows at him.
“Even dragons?”
“Even dragons.”
She leaned forward and kissed him, slowly, and deeply, and lovingly. When their lips parted, they stayed with their foreheads resting together.
“You know, I don’t like babies, but I do like kittens,” Artemis whispered. “Maybe we could have some of those instead.”
Charlie pulled his head away from hers and frowned.
“How?” he asked, his expression of disconcertion growing more pronounced by the second.
“You can just buy them, Charlie.”
“Oh,” Charlie exhaled. He looked suddenly relieved. “I thought you meant as in…”
“Ugh, no!” Artemis recoiled from him. “How would that even work?”
“I don’t want to know,” Charlie muttered. He shuddered, and then composed himself again. “What about dogs? You like dogs, don’t you?”
“Yeah, but I’d prefer a cat.”
“You already have Fergus. Let’s get a dog.”
“No, a cat.”
“Dog.”
“Cat.”
“Baby?”
“Dog.”
Charlie smiled triumphantly.
“I’m glad we agree,” he said, and lay back down with his head on the pillow. Artemis stayed seated.
“Wait,” she said, twisting around to look at him. “So, does this mean we’re actually getting a dog, or was that a hyporhetorical thing?”
Charlie laughed, not unkindly, and reached out to stroke her arm.
“You know, I’m actually being serious. Let’s get a dog. A really big one. One I can train to pin you to the ground when you’re being annoying.”
Artemis batted him gently and he laughed again.
“You really want us to get a dog?” she asked.
“That’s what I said, isn’t it?”
“I heard. This just seems like a very laid back way to decide to get a dog, that’s all.”
“Do you want it to be more formal?”
“No, I just—”
“I can make it more official if you like,” Charlie sat back up. “Do you want me to get down on one knee?”
The daring look in his brown eyes and the smile causing his freckled cheeks to dimple were obvious, even in the very dim moonlight. Artemis reached up and pushed his red hair back from his ever-so-familiar face. That boy. That man. That person she’d grown to love. She smiled, as much to herself as to him.
“Yeah. I do.”

In which you’re not feeling your best and Gemma comes to your rescue

If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give.
-George MacDonald
~ ~ ~
Dating the Harry Styles truly came with its perks. Not those perks—well maybe those too. But perks like: Gemma Styles.
Being with Harry meant being with Harry’s family. It was deal or no deal. They’re the whole package, and you’re not complaining.
You enjoyed Gemma’s company. One could even agree that she really is the better Styles—don’t tell Harry. You two had great times together, even when you weren’t feeling great.
Sometimes you had days where depression really just barged into your home and settled in. You liked to call these moments Gloom Patches. Like the patches on a couch, they were there until the couch got fixed—in your case, until your village, aka Harry and company, came along.
Today, you were in a Gloom Patch, and oh-so-lucky for you, Harry wasn’t in town for while.
He’d noticed you weren’t reading or replying to his texts all day since morning. Worried, he called a few times too, but still not a peep from you. You didn’t know what it was, God bless if he did, but you woke up and immediately had rather have a ton of bricks pile on you than live a life today.
You heard the front door of your flat be opened and a tinge of hope came over you that it was Harry. That hope vanished as soon as it appeared when reality washed over you, Harry’s presence would’ve been impossible in this little time. Then, you thought: Hey, someone just broke in, I’m being kidnapped. Oh well.
“Y/n?” A feminine voice called for you. “Are you here, my love?”
You put two and two together rather easily. Harry, in his state of worry, more than likely had alerted Gemma of your absence in the day. Gemma, in her alerted state, came to check on you. She’d gotten in with the key Harry, being the aware of your mental health and responsible adult he is, had given her once you two moved in.
“Bedroom,” you notified her, rather quietly.
You could hear her steps grow closer and closer to your bedroom. “Well thank goodness, you’re not dead.” She sat by you on the bed, noticing your dismal expression.
You inched closer to her body through the large comforter cocooning you, appreciating her warmth.
Gemma, the caring and loving older sister she is, welcomed you into her arms and enveloped you in a hug.
“What’s wrong, Lovely?”
“I don’t know,” your voice quivered, the feeling of a cry creeping onto you once again for no apparent reason. “I’m sorry.”
“And that’s always alright, there is no need for you to feel sorry about having feelings. Is there any way you think i can help you?”
It took you some time to think and respond. “Will you stay with me?”
She moved further up the bed and kept holding you. “Of course I will.”
Time passed, tears flowed, and Gemma stayed with you through all of them. Eventually, you calmed down some, thankful for her company, and for Harry for being the great person he is.
“Do you want to call him—let him know you’re alright?” she suggested.
You nodded and she reached for her phone, going to his contact and dialing. Seeing the profile picture she had of him instantly brought you some joy.
You and Harry were in a flower field, mostly of daisies. You were making flower crowns for each other. After showing Harry how to make one, you finished the one you used to demonstrate and placed atop his perfect curls, now frizzy from the after noon heat. His smile was too beautiful to miss, so you grabbed your phone to snap a quick picture, you got two. One of him sporting his gorgeous smile and a goofy one of him with his tongue out when he noticed your phone out. You sent the silly one to Gemma, to share a laugh with her.
You smiled fondly at the sight of your adoring boyfriend. You didn’t know she’d made that his picture.
The phone rang a few times. After about three or four rings, he answered the call from his sister.
“Hi, Gem.” Harry greeted. “How’s she doing? Where is she? Is she alright?” He added intensely, anxious to know of your well-being.
“She—“
“I’m fine, H,” you moved up a bit to get into frame.
“My Flower, you had me worried, what happened?”
“I wasn’t feeling the best, that’s all.”
“Are you feeling any better?”
“Yeah, a little. Thank you for caring about me,” you tell him. You always made a point to let him know how much you genuinely appreciated him. The same way he makes sure your treated right, you make sure he is, and let him know you wouldn’t ever treat him like others in his past.
“I’ll always care for you my darling. I adore you.”
“I adore you—even more so.”
“Impossible—“
“Yeah, yeah, you love each other, we get it,” Gemma rolled her eyes in a teasing manner.
“Hey, why don’t you two go out, cheer up Mrs. Cranky. It’s on me,” Harry suggested.
“Ice cream?” You looked at Gemma. You guys always tried to get ice cream when you were together, also making sure to try out something new each time.
She hummed considering your idea, “wouldn’t have to tell me twice.”
You laughed at her comment. You truly did love your little village. To think, only a few hours ago you were ready to give up on the world—that feeling still crept up a bit, but you tried to push it down. This pain is temporary, you thought. That was always your grounding thought. The pain won’t last forever.
“Y/n?” Gemma drew your attention.
“Yeah?”
“Do you wanna get ready so we can head out?”
“Sure.” You thought for a moment, getting an idea,“How’s the weather?”
~ ~ ~
“He sent me £30,” You heard Gemma say through the bathroom door, “who spends a whole thirty pounds on ice cream?”
You chuckled, putting on a hat, as to not have fix your hair. “Harry Edward Styles, that’s who.”
“A whole character, he is.”
You stepped out of the bathroom, fixing up a jacket, outfit matching Gemma’s. “I’d agree but he might hear me.”
You shared a couple laughs. “You look beautiful, Love,” Gemma smiled at you.
You have her a spin, feeling accomplished for completing a task—a small one—but a task nonetheless, Harry would say.
“Let’s go,” Gemma nodded toward the door.
Once you were out and at the stairwell, you grabbed her hand—it was force of habit from being with Harry, which explained why you didn’t notice at first. Once you did, you were glad she didn’t pull away. It helped you ground yourself to have somebody there.
You walked hand in hand to a nearby ice cream shop, the same one you two went to every time you were together. A few people inside noticed you and who you both were, but luckily most people kept their distance—aside from a couple nearby, who was still luckily, very kind.
It was a small family owned business, everything genuinely homemade. They had a different special flavor each month, and this month it was cinnamon roll. You’d always loved cinnamon rolls, so you tried that one today while Gemma got pumpkin pie which neither of you had tried before.
You payed and got your ice cream and decided to enjoy it with a walk around town for a bit.
“It’s so pretty here,” you commented as you walked down a street with tall white buildings and a couple houses here and there.
“It really is,” Gemma nodded. “Do you want to take some pictures?”
“Only if you take some with me.”
“Deal.”
Gemma let go of your hand and took your ice cream, setting it with hers on a brick mailbox by you. She grabbed her phone from her pocket and stood it up leaning on the ice cream bowls and you prayed they wouldn’t fall. Turning on the timer, she moved next to you and posed.
The process was repeated a couple of times, then you moved on to taking pictures of each other.
The sun started setting, so you wrapped up your mini photo session and went home. Gemma decided to stay the night, and just borrow some of your clothes which you both knew weren’t going to be returned.
Now you were both in bed, as you somehow ended up watching Tom and Jerry.
“Thank you for everything today,” you rested your head on her shoulder.
“Anything for my little sister,” she wrapped an arm around you. “I love you, y/n/n.”
“Love you too, Gems.”

Aura
I’m sorry but I feel this needs to be said. Aura is by far the most under-used source in RWBY beside dust. Look I get it aura is used to make barriers and fuel semblances but that's it. I mean the semblances are sometimes horrible at best. Especially when they’re passive. Oh my, the worst semblance to me is sadly Qrow’s because anything could happen. You could be enjoying your day and something bad happens because you're there. But that’s minor.
Now some semblances are good. We got semblances that can stop time. We got some that can erase memories. We even got some that can create clones and summon creatures. Too bad summoning things is only in the Schnee department but still. However some of them can be both imitated and surpassed by other characters. For example, Adam, Yang and Tock. Adam creates a wave projectile to slice his enemies. Yang can build and store energy every time she takes damage from enemies and dish it back ten fold. Tock can literally take no damage until her timer goes off. Guess who can copy these abilities? Five characters; Ren, Blake, Fox, Qrow and yes, even Jaune can do it.
Four of these characters have managed to replicate Adam and Yang’s semblances. Blake and Qrow manage to create slashes in the air to launch at their opponents before. Though theirs are not strong as Adam’s they still performed the same function. Fox and Ren can do the same like Yang. I mean, in volume one and two, Ren and Fox made Grimm’s bodies explode. And the sad part about it is Jaune can do all this because of his aura reserves and his semblances. And this is why aura control is needed.
We need characters who are better skilled in aura. I understand semblances are supposed to be unique and tied more to the user but if you were a hunter and you never unlocked your semblance or if you did but it’s not as helpful as you hope, what would be your best source to fight with? Your aura, because so far semblances have been more of let down due to being similar to others. Examples are Harriet and Neon, both being fast characters. Or where it's just in their names. Like Vine with extended limbs; Elm being rooted to the ground; or Clover having good luck. But if you understand the basics and learn more ways to use your aura you can basically do anything. The prime demonstration is Hazel. Nora said herself, Hazel can recharge faster than most people. This means no matter how much damage they dish out Hazel will recover and still keep going.
(Bro I need to say this. Man I’m sorry but in my opinion Hazel is the strongest male character in the RWBY series. Bro, think about it, James was scared of Hazel more than he was of Cinder. And when we saw him fight Salem,… oh my god, these kids were lucky he didn’t really want to fight them because if he did they would all be dead. Like Hazel is the best example of both aura and dust users. He should have stayed alive. Maybe then the kids can finally have a functioning adult in their lives. Hazel solos.)
Okay, after explaining all this, how else can aura be used? Well other than being barriers, slash waving projectiles and a healing factor, it can also be used like haki, chakra or for this show like it was before Salem screwed the world over, magic. But only maidens have magic right? Well let me tell you why I disagree with that statement. But first let's talk about dust.
Dust is the second most under-used source in RWBY. The reason I say secondary is because at least it’s visible in the world. Not only that it is used in weapons, machines, and as ammunition. It is really a natural resource but no one ever uses it in its rawest form. No one except Hazel and maybe Weiss. And what makes it better is they are Remnants of magical elements. Dust in rawest form is more powerful than a gun. And if used properly you can rival maidens.
Maidens are supposed to be special due to them being able to control the elements without the need of dust. However, their power might as well be that of a semblance considering it requires aura to even use. I mean think about it Cinder and Raven. They have used the maiden powers which not only exhausted them as well decreased their aura to the point they break. Not only that they were able to be defeated or in Cinder’s case almost die multiple times. And to prove my case further, Salem is a magic user yet Hazel still killed her multiple times. Hell, Penny was able to beat Cinder even without maiden powers. Basically, the sad truth is the maidens are just keys. If Cinder crossed the wrong person she would be dead. Never mind that if Hazel, Watts and Tyrian wanted to, they actually would have killed her themselves. Especially if she keeps messing up they're plans.
So how does dust increase the use of aura? Well dust is part of the world. And so is the aura. So wouldn’t having more of a connection with the world increase aura and dust efficiency. I mean Vine said aura can be extended. So using the environment itself is good. Just like chakra, if you extend the aura enough to spread across an area enough while using gravity dust you can increase the pressure to keep opponents down. With plant dust trapping your enemies to a certain extent. Heck if you learn to control your aura and merge it with the element you can throw projectiles, create weapons, increase your speed and/or damage output. Effectively uses your whole body as a weapon.
Aura can even be used even without the need of dust. Like with haki it can harden your body against attacks. Extended to where you can locate upcoming enemies. Or when released all at once ,can be used to knock out enemies without engaging in combat.
Look, I am sorry. Please, forgive me but after thinking about this it made me ask this question, “What is a hunter?” Like really what is a hunter because so far this show has disappointed me on the term. We have seen hunters die whether be by non-hunter groups or Grimm who are arguably not that much of a threat. If anything, ordinary people can fight and kill them. Even semblances are starting to become nothing but excuses to why characters act the way they do, like with James who was determined to blow up Mantle because of his ability. Or having basic abilities that other characters should possess like Tyrian’s aura breaking ability. It’s sad really, aura is supposed to be this source of power but it's not as weaponized as I hoped it would be. But that’s my opinion.

"are you on your period?" "no." "no? whys it feel wet then?" "slime." "what?" "its the slime."
silverv week day 1 // soulmates ( set in au: watch the world burn aka 2000s au)
he taught her about lucky cigarettes, he had laughed at her when she just opened a new pack and started smoking it. "look ya open a new pack, pick one cig." he placed his own cigarrette between his lips and took the pack from her. "ya flip it around." he pulled a cigarette from the pack and flipped it over with a flick of his finger. "and put it back in." he demonstrated as he spoke. "ya smoke that one last, if anyone wants to bum a cigarette and they get the lucky one. they buy ya a new pack." he grinned and handed the pack back to her, taking a drag of his own cigarette. "and how often does that happen?" v asked, doubting this whole spiel while she pulled a cigarette out and placed it between her lips. johnny leaned in and lit it for her. "more often than ya might think." he shrugged.
Write about your ship waking up together. (set in au: say yes to heaven aka johnny gets a body)
this kiss wasnt enough either so she pressed a few more to his skin, even licking him just one, he was salty and she liked it. for a moment she felt silly, he had wrecked her shit not even 12 hours ago, of course he was real but all of that could have been a dream, another hallucination. she bit her lower lip and a grin formed on her face, they should do it again, for empiric reasons.
im projecting but this is my oc who has the same issues as me so its not technically projecting aka gig: talent academy aka dogtown really put a dent into v's mental
v looked at the kid being shown off and johnny was already spitting his poison but she couldnt help but notice a feeling - her own feeling, a feeling of longing, of jealousy and envy. she knew this was wrong, that this wasnt better than what had happened to her but she couldnt help feeling like it would have been better for her. she had always wanted to be an athlete, a prodigy, a child worth putting effort into. and here she stood, realising that this wasnt a pipedream, that it did happen, just not to her.
#sammy says shit#sammy writes shit#wip wednesday#thank you again!!! also bishi if you read this i know you got wips#you better show em#😤😤😤#and once again thank you rat for being a hardass on me

A Pleasant Miscommunication - Cecilia's First Kiss
“You’re so lucky to have animals! They’re paws-itively perfect,” she cooed, encouraging your dog to shake hands.
“They can be fun,” you agreed as you shut the last of the chickens into the coop for the night. Cecilia had been visiting the farm more and more during her free time. You couldn’t blame her with Vesta pushing for an arranged marriage at home. You were getting ready to confess when Cecilia first arrived and explained her problem. Now, the timing seemed wrong. Especially when Cecilia said she wanted to marry for love. You loved her without question, but did she feel the same?
“Did you want to help with the cattle and sheep?”
Cecilia cheerfully agreed, following you to the field. You felt far more impressive than you rightfully should when she gasped in shock at how easily they began to shuffle into the barn when you rang the bell. You hadn’t done anything to teach the animals this behavior. You suspected Takakura trained your first cow before you arrived, and she had taught each new animal.
You proudly demonstrated how to brush each animal down and fill their food. Cecilia eagerly bounced on her feet, asking if she could try brushing an animal. You agreed, passed her the brush, and shifted to milking your cows for the evening. It would be dangerous if this became a nightly routine. You could too easily imagine how life with Cecilia would be this way. She needed a friend right now, not another suitor breathing down her neck. You moved to your horse to unsaddle him.
Cecilia had finished brushing the cows and stood holding the brush while complimenting one of the sheep. You smiled and walked over. You intended to gently take the brush from her hand without interrupting her conversation. As you neared, though, Cecilia’s eyes widened at your closeness. Before you could ask what was wrong, she boldly leaned forward and closed her eyes to kiss the corner of your mouth.
“W-what?” you weakly questioned what had just happened.
“Oh, I’m sorry! I thought you were going to-” Cecilia’s face flushed in embarrassment.
“Whoa, hey! It’s fine!” you quickly assured. “I was just surprised, is all. I didn’t think you’d want anything like that with everything else going on.”
“I’ve been waiting for you to kiss me for weeks, you know,” she pouted, kicking at the barn’s dirt.
“Should I make up for being so oblivious?” you grinned, the brush and remaining chores forgotten.
