these are all so messy but. did some doodles about a concept rgb puzzler x Detroit: Become Human AU. this is what I was talking about when I said I was being enabled btw.
explaining stuff under the cut
LUKE - Luke is a detective-model android (similar to Connor, but less advanced forensically and less focused on deviancy than general crime) who is assigned to a series of thefts. has a highly sophisticated AI based on finding clues, patterns and scanning crime scenes
SNUFKIN - Snufkin, who isn’t an android, after losing his arm in an accident, is forced to take an android arm as a replacement. thirium is needed to keep it going, along with food and other tools that he can’t scavenge from the city. due to the thirium issue, he’s stuck being near the city until he stockpiles enough resources through less than legal methods (and even then, he’d be forced to return). the police are unsure if he’s an android or not, given how he never leaves fingerprints and has been seen to bleed thirium.
APOLLO - been a deviant for a while, previously a generic shop clerk android. met snufkin when he pulled a gun on him at the house he was staying at, and ended up being the one to take him to the junkyard for his arm, since Apollo had taken new eyes from there. he’s less experienced with crime than Snufkin, and still figuring all his emotions out, but his eyes make him invaluable in scouting a location
#dee doodles#luke triton#apollo justice#snufkin#rgb puzzlers#everyone blame character-roulette#NO CLUE what to tag the au btw#rgb android au#<- dislike that but. need ideas#im so sorry normal pl/aa/moomin fans but I have the tism

What are your personal favorites from squid game S2?
what a fantastic question, anon!
this might be a little 457 centric but like...i mean do you blame me?
so!
my first is 100% the confrontation between gi-hun and the recruiter. i absolutely adore the russian roulette moment when he clicks the final time on the gun and the recruiter knows he's about to die and gi-hun taunts him like 'can you do it you coward' and he just blows his brains out. cinema gold.
the second is the moment when in-ho makes his debut in the game and he storms down the middle to press the button and he just slowly turns to the gamers and his gaze is laser focused on gi-hun and i just...LOOK AT HIM:
the smirk is cinematic and deserves a billion awards.
i really enjoyed the mingle game scenes to be honest, one of my favourite parts and favourite games because it was bloody brutal as hell, a bloodbath, but it had a lot in development for the characters with a lot of realisations and again that one shot when gi-hun is watching the players get shot and in-ho is just staring at him so intently watching every micro reaction, watching that defeat. just *mwah* chefs kiss.
in-ho shooting one of his guards because he tried to kill gi-hun like bloody excuse the fuck out of me dude like. whoa mama.
the pissed off, 'dude i thought we had something special' look when gi-hun chose jung-bae over in-ho to go up to the front man quarters. im 100% convinced in-ho had a plan in place and gi-hun ruined it all by choosing his bestie over his boyfriend so yeah. pure gold.
and FINALLY - the last scene. it's absolutely awful, it's so diabolic because it's cold blooded murder in essence and he further traumatises gi-hun by killing his best friend in front of him but it's just such good tv because every single thing in-ho did was to pull and push gi-hun like a little doll and he just throws everything up in the air and cuts all his losses by faking his persona's death and he won't kill gi-hun, he can't kill him, but he can punish him in the only way he can and that's killing everyone around him till he's the last one standing.

The Tale of Cats and Birds (Zoro x gn!Reader)
A/N: I really went back and forth with this one, I almost dropped it but I kept going and I think I COOKED, here is my first platonic!reader x character!
Dividers by @/saradika
“Again? Nami, you are definitely setting this pair buddy things up; how is it that I have been Zoro’s partner every single time we draw straws?” Reader sighs holding up the straw with the matching number said man was holding.
"Well, can you blame us? Zoro can’t find his way even if he is stuck in a straight line! So you are the perfect buddy system!”
“First of all, “us,” so all of you were in on it? Second of all, you have been pairing me with him all this time because of my homing instinct?!” They exclaim, their feathers ruffling up
“Yeah. We think he needs a buddy partner to navigate while he does the heavy lifting. I mean, just look at you and him! You two work like a well-oiled machine.” Nami explains.
“Im part Dove, not part compass,” they sigh
“Come on! You were born to be his buddy partner. If we didn’t put you two together, everyone would see just how incompetent he really is,” Sanji chimes in.
“Watch it, Curly eyebrows,” Zoro sneers
“Sure, Mr. Lost,” Sanji scoffs
“Shut up!”
“Okay! Okay! I think it’s time we head out! Off we go, Zoro!” reader quickly said, stepping in between them to dissolve the fight
“Hmph,” Zoro mutters. He then looks at you and rolls his eyes. It’s clear he is still ticked off, but he follows you down the ship’s gangway anyway.
They sighed, relieved that they had managed to avoid yet another fight between the two
As the two of you walk, you notice Zoro glaring at the clouds, his eyebrows furrowed together. He then lets out a deep sigh and grumbles to himself.
“You want to go take a nap? I saw a pretty tree close by.”
Zoro snorts.
“That sounds like a good idea…”
They grin
“You are like a cat, even got yourselves sharp claws like one,” they said, pointing at their swords
“You’re grumpy like one too.”
“Shut up…” Zoro grumbles, but he is unable to hide his slight blush at the thought. He follows you over to the tree and then sits down, resting his head against the trunk. The grass beneath him is soft and welcoming.
“You’re not denying it, though.” They giggle, fluttering to a branch above them and settling down, lying face down so they are able to stretch their wings and talk to the man below them
Zoro remains silent, unwilling to admit he sees a little truth in their words. He leans back against the tree, closing his eyes to enjoy the peace. The birds flying past him chirp happily, the sun warms his skin, and the soft grass underneath him is comforting. After a few minutes of relaxing, Zoro finally lets out a deep sigh.
“Oi, bird, catch.”
“Hmm?” They squeak as Zoro throws a small bag their way, scrambling to catch it and flapping their wings to maintain their balance on the branch they laid on.
Zoro chuckles as you hurry to catch the bag. Once you catch it, you unravel it and find it’s filled with sunflower seeds.
“You got me my favorite?!” They cheer
“Yeah, yeah, don’t get your feathers fluffed,” he replies, though he can’t entirely hide his amusement.
“Zoro… you really are like a cat. You act grumpy, but you’re really a softy, aren’t you?”
He grunts, but he can’t really disguise the redness on his cheeks.
“Yeah yeah, just eat your damn seeds…” he mumbles.
They grin, plopping a few in their mouth
“Thank you, Zoro.”
I have wanted to experiment with different hybrid readers or reader of different species, listen guys I did a roulette I swear I din’t mean for all of my current hybrid!readers to be birds XD.

Poll: What is, on average, the best Danganronpa chapter across the 3 mainline games?
AKA all Danganronpa murders are the same <3.
Parallels among the murders of the same chapter are listed below:
Chapter 1, AKA: "In a murder committed out of fear and panic, after dusk, in a location where the protagonist appeared shortly before, a strongly motivated individual, after taking initiative on their own, is murdered as a result of a betrayal by the protagonist's best ally, after which the corpse of the victim is found slumped on the floor and during the trial for which the blame is for a prolonged time placed on the protagonist or their ally (who was indeed involved, but ultimately is not the blackened)."
Chapter 2, AKA: "In an attempt to maintain allegiance to an important individual and to uphold a sense of honor for their Ultimate title, a capable classmate bludgeons to death the mentally strong yet physically weak (or mentally weak and physically strong) fan favorite (who therefore ends up dying too early) in a hands-on-hands physical confrontation, after which the placement of the corpse as well as the "perceived" crime scene is messed with to pin the blame on another person."
Chapter 3, AKA: "A-not-mentally-well-adjusted individual commits an immaculate and complicated double murder for a unthinkably irrational or amoral cause, which includes a body appearing at the crime scene out of nowhere in a seemingly impossible fashion, and in which one of the victims is the one who was lured out by the killer and willfully takes part in the action (but unknowing that it will result in their own murder) and in which the other victim ends up being the socially ostracized individual, simply because they happen to be at a wrong place at the wrong time."
Chapter 4, AKA: "Within a set-up for a locked room murder mystery, the good-hearted fan favorite becomes a part of a two-person life-and-death allegiance to perform a heroic act of self-sacrificial killing using an unknown murder method with the intention of getting themself killed so that everyone else may live, while one person is revealed to have had a deeper insight into the killing game for some time."
Chapter 5, AKA: "In an unsuccessful attempt to bring the killing game to its conclusion, the most malicious student of the class orchestrates an almost perfect, convoluted and seemingly unnecessarily but indeed intentionally violent murder (which serves as a way of mangling the corpse to a point where the murder method is concealed), whose solving hinges on the protagonist's new but trusted ally's confession about their not-really-consenting involvement."
Chapter 6, AKA: "After a retrospective investigation that brings to light new circumstances about the game's setting as well as its previous events, an existential crisis consumes the remaining survivors as the identity of the class and the killing game itself is revealed, during which Junko Enoshima appears (of course), and which ends with the true protagonist killing the mastermind in order to seek redemption, freedom and hope for their classmates.
P.S. This whole thing was primarily inspired to by my desire to prove Nagito's assumptions from chapter 4 wrong:
Most of these are fortunatelly not true when we also take V3 into account: while Rantaro was important, he wasn't stabbed; a serial killer was revealed in the third chapter, not the in the second; and I wouldn't exactly classify chapter 4 murder as a suicide in either sdr2 or v3 (though we DID have two people playing Russian roulette in the Funhouse, yikes). All in all, the murders wouldn't have been nearly as shocking if they correlated with what had been already pointed out in the second game before, so I'm not really surprised that there ended up being other similarities among the murders.
That's all, thank you for reading <3
#thank you in advance to anyone who voted#if you're unsure of what to pick just go based on vibes#surprisingly not too many researchers are waiting for the results of this scientific survey it's just for fun#the idea to compille all the parallels in the chapters of the same number has been occupying my head for a long time#so Im glad I was able to find quite a satisfying number of them Id say#really highlights how good dr's writing can be sometimes#chapter 4 is probably my favorite Id say on average it has produced the biggest amount of tears 🥲🥲🥲#sorry in advance for spamming the main character tags I'm not 100% sure whether this is fit to be main char tagged#txt#drv3#sdr2#danganronpa#kokichi ouma#nagito komaeda#shuichi saihara#hajime hinata#kaede akamatsu#mahiru koizumi#chihiro fujisaki#kirumi tojo#tsumugi shirogane#kaito momota#sakura oogami#gundham tanaka#tenko chabashira#angie yonaga#makoto naegi#kyoko kirigiri#leon kuwata#💜

...Actually, come to think of it, I do want to talk about it! I've actually wanted to make a rambly introspective post about h/c and related things for quite some time.
Part of it is, like, predictable stuff, Blame My Upbringing, whatevs. You know this story already. Let me start off by saying that my mom is a decent person despite her issues, and I do not blame her. She's just not the person to have around when you're suffering physically or emotionally in any way. No one in her family knows how to care for people without infantilizing them, she's not good in any situation she can't directly control, and she's a hypochondriac who is inexplicably mistrustful of medicine.
So I learned pretty early in life that showing discomfort of any kind was like spinning some godawful roulette wheel. Would I be treated like a toddler? Would she arbitrarily decide I was dying or something? Would I be dismissed altogether because Fixing Problems Means Problems Exist? Either way, my problem would not be solved, and something unpleasant would happen. So I became a champion Dog Moder pretty early in childhood, and didn't have glasses or an inhaler until I was 23. Good times!
Now, I think a lot of this is actually innate in me, and I'm just a cagey mesopredator of a person who doesn't like a fuss, so I think a big part of the issue is that we were mismatched. But everyone still needs care to some extent, even though I just kind of... Forgot I did, I guess? Especially because I never had an experience of care coexisting with respect, and would choose respect any day.
So yeah, common daydream scenarios for me, for most of my life, tended to involve someone noticing a stoic character's pain, and striving to alleviate it while also Not Making A Big Fuss. Loving, but casual and easy, and taking the person's actual needs and personality into account. That was my big unrealistic ideal, I guess. :P
...Luckily, my partner and I met as teens, and holy shit, care and respect at the same time!? Just, like, being gentle, and making sure I have what I need? And noticing that something's wrong even though I don't show a lot of outward signs, and wanting to help me actually fix it? Even two decades on, it's a huge novelty, and feels like home! So even though my needs are better met now, I still want to celebrate that, because it's transcendent! And it's also just what I know.
So yeah, that's my best explanation for the comfort half, but when it comes to the hurt...
...I'm just a morbid little creep. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Okay, okay, I'll try to actually explain!
I just have kind of a fascination with pain/illness/injury, probably as an extension of a general fascination with bodily workings and matters. I've always liked biology, and one of the first books I remember reading/looking through on my own is my aunt's old anatomy textbook from when she was in nursing school. It's just one of my Themes, y'know? I don't know if it's in spite or because of my poor interoception, honestly. (What the hell is going on in there!? Mysteries abound!)
So yeah, I've always had an interest in this stuff. Actually, when I wrote more original fiction, a lot of it bordered on body horror! And wish there was more opportunity to flex those muscles in the RF world... I loved writing the nightmare sequences in ATNG, and am itching for a chance to use/create my interpretations of how healing potions work (or rather don't), what the various status effects do and feel like, etc. (Unfortunately, I don't write enough action!)
Also, I think they're important topics! As I've said before, something going wrong with the body is familiar to pretty much everyone to some degree. And it's a visceral topic that can inspire big feelings, which is catnip to me as a Romantic! Plus, it's a great way to explore a character. (Thinking of that passage that says something to the effect of how you don't really know a person until you've seen them ill or grieving.) And it's just cathartic, especially if you're like me and have spent a lot of your life processing pain and discomfort alone in your head.
And... idk! I'm just a weird freaky goth girl at heart! I'm Marian! It's Not That Deep. Or as deep as I want it to be! Either way, I've been being weird about gross stuff for most of my life, and I'm still having too much fun to stop.

► BIOGRAPHY
TW; Religion mention, funeral mention
It was raining when Adrienne was born. Maybe that was the first tell of the path she would be walking. Or, maybe it was the intention of her given name; Adrienne: dark woman or dark waters. There was some odd fascination with the darker things in life. Growing up attending more funerals than weddings, can anyone really blame her on that impact? Though, her nickname was Jynx due to the chaos that would spiral in her presence. For instance, her grandmother's ashes going missing when they were addressed to her apartment, or traveling all the way to California just for a once in a lifetime storm to be passing through and the festival being cancelled, or every color she calls for Roulette being the wrong one and her friend then going into the negatives with funds. Though she was labeled as an outcast and was seen as the black sheep in the family because of this, she still had something about her that drew people in. She had a great group of friends, and her fair share of experimental relationships. In short: she didn't miss anything, but she wouldn't have cared if she did. Her aunt was the one who taught her about spirituality after Adrienne had a paranormal experience at the age of 5. Whilst being in a Catholic household, Adrienne and her aunt would often sneak in order to practice their own eclectic belief. Magic, tarot cards, seances, you name it - Adrienne has dabbled in it. What no one was expecting was for her to make a career move out of it. It started in high school, she helped assist her teacher in their paranormal investigation group. It was through this teacher that she learned about anomalies and the role of the paranormal in anthropology. Her job as an investigator was just the groundwork for her BA in Parapsychology with a minor in Religious Studies at Stockton Univeristy, where she studied the connections of the paranormal and demons with the human psyche. She then went on to gain her MA in Magick and Occult Science with a specialization in Women and Minority Studies where she learned more about the occult across various religions and cultures as well as witchcraft and the impact and power women have within interaction, at Salem State University. At this point in her career, she can be seen as an expert in the occult as well as a demonologist. She actually works alongside various religious institutions, is still a researcher for a paranormal investigation team, and is also hosts a podcast about horror movies, the paranormal and the occult.
► PERSONALITY (DEEP DIVE)
Adrienne is one of those people who can attract and attract and attract, but still feel alone underneath the surface. She can be sarcastic and condescending if someone asks a question she deems as 'stupid'. She's known to bully as her type of flirting. She's actually not online, and prefers it that way. She's clever and witty and goes on passion-dump sprees about her line of work and conspiracies pretty often, or about her research or podcast. She loves people who have a sense of humor and can dish it back out to her. Adrienne used to not like being seen as a Jynx, but now she is sorta indifferent. She just knows something bad or weird is bound to happen when she's around, and it's just within her chaotic state of being. She used to be deathly afraid of the dark, mostly because she didn't know what was in it. It's still a fear, but she works through it due to her career. Adrienne comes across as intimidating and mean cause of her resting bitch face. This is partly true; seeing that she does bring hell to people and her wrath can be intense. But, if you're on her good side you have a very loyal and fun friend in your corner.

Actor Mark, Who Killed Markiplier, A Date/Heist/In Space With Markiplier
(propaganda from the submission that I'm giving a separate post because of it's size)

He was born around the late 1800s I think? He grew up in the same house as The Colonel/William J. Barnum and was friends with Damian and Celine. He ended up marrying Celine and becoming a famous actor, while William went off to fight in the war and Damian became mayor. However, at some point William and Celine had a relationship and she cheated on him. After Mark found out, he shut himself away from his friends and stayed in his manor, which was haunted or something. He blamed the cheating on William, assuming that because he was so rich and famous, he made her cheat on him and she DEFINITELY didn’t do it because Mark was a selfish asshole. He came up with a with a plan to get revenge on William because it was entirely his fault and JUST his fault and not Celine’s fault because how could she have consented to that when he was so cool and charismatic???
I think he was also somewhat corrupted by the house, which was evil. But a lot of the characters that go there don’t always notice it because they’ve come into contact with it a lot and are used to it. Except for the Groundskeeper (I forgot his name, might’ve been Frank?) who knows the house was evil and refuses to go in and maybe Celine (she’s magic). And so he invites his friends back to his manor (Markiplier Manor, he randomly decided to change his own name to seem more fancy and William judges him for it) and has a party! The attendees are: Damian, the Chef, the Butler, Abe the Detective, the Colonel (William), and us, as the District Attorney. We were invited by Damian because we were friends in college and now work with him. They gamble and drink and the D.A. falls asleep at 1:00 AM. Everyone else is also asleep by then, except for the Colonel and Mark. Mark gets him drunk and convinces him to play Russian Roulette. But it was rigged. He tricks William into shooting him, and in a panic he throws the body down the stairs and tries to cover it up. The D.A. is recruited as the Detective’s partner (his full name is Abraham Lincoln and every partner he’s had has died a tragic but comical death). They try to figure out the murderer, and Celine (the Seer) shows up, to everyone’s surprise and tries to use you to figure out the mystery. However, her work is interrupted.
At one point the Chef mentions the Groundskeeper, and so you go to interrogate him. Celine stays behind to continue her work, and Damian decides to watch her (they’re twins, Celine is older). The Colonel is still in his bedroom, sleeping. The Groundskeeper states that he hasn’t gone in the cursed manor for years and wants to keep that streak. Only some horrible and incredibly specific circumstances could lead to him going in. Suddenly, there’s a flash of light inside the manor and everyone runs towards it to see what happened, the Groundskeeper saying that these are the circumstances. When they get in, Damian and Celine are missing and the Colonel is awake and very confused. No one knows what happened, and one by one, the employees leave, not wishing to reach the same fate. You, the Detective, and the Colonel are the only ones remaining. Abe and William end up having a confrontation, ending in Abe being shot and the D.A. being shot by accident. You end up in a strange black void with Damian and Celine.
They explain to you that the house is evil and pulled them in to this void so that Mark could steal Damian’s body (EVEN THOUGH HE WAS ONE OF THE ONLY INNOCENT PARTIES IN THIS AND ACTUALLY WANTED TO MAKE AMENDS… FURTHER PROOF THAT ACTOR MARK IS A GODDAMN ASSHOLE) and that they used the last of their energy to pull you here to explain. Their bodies are gone, but yours is still there. They could all be in your body with you and track down Mark to get Damian his body back.
You agree, and you end up back in your body, getting up to see William cradling Damian’s cane (my boy…). He sees you and realizes that it was all a PRANK! If you’re not dead, Damian and Celine aren’t dead! Of course they’re not! It was just a silly prank! He can’t believe he didn’t figure it out before, it was so obvious! And so he goes away to search for them… calling out through the house for his lost friends. You look into the mirror, and crack your neck. The mirror shatters, and becomes your prison.
Your body walks away without you. That’s ‘Who Killed Markiplier?’ along with some backstory! Next is ‘DAMIAN’ ! (You can watch all this stuff on YouTube btw, it is Markiplier) Damian lives with his twin sister, Celine. She’s only older by a bit, but she’s very bossy. They live in a cabin in the snowy woods. Every day, Damian goes out to chop wood for the fire while his sister goes out to hunt… something. One day, he sees a small pink flower (It represents William, or Wilford Warfstache, as he’s known now) thriving in the ice and snow. He goes home with enough wood and tells his sister about the flower. She tells him to sleep. He sleeps, and the next day he goes back and the little pink flower is still there, somehow living for another day. He goes home with enough wood and tells his sister about the flower. She tells him to sleep.
She actually said the exact same things she said yesterday, but different because Damian responds differently. I think there might have been a scary painting at one point? Damian goes to chop wood for the fire, but he hears Celine calling out for help. Being a good brother and a good person in general, he immediately heads towards the voice, and ends up on a lake covered in ice. The ice breaks, and guess what? ACTOR MARK IS HERE ONCE AGAIN (to be a bitch)! He says something about Celine tearing his heart out if she saw him again, and tells Damian that he, Mark, is the hero of this story. Celine shows up to ruin the fun, and Mark leaves, soon enough. Damian convinces Celine to let him help her for once, and he decides to give Mark the villain he wants. Celine finally gets some rest, and Mark gains control of their (the D.A.’s) body. In ‘A Date With Markiplier’ and ‘A Heist With Markiplier’, the viewer is the main character and Mark is the other main character. In some endings, Mark leaves for another character (also played by Markiplier but different from Actor Mark himself) to be important to the plot of a couple endings. At one point he tries to separate from you in the sewers and whenever you actually agree you instantly end it. During most of the endings, he seems to be mostly friendly, but in some he’s just a douchebag. In ‘In Space With Markiplier’, I think the real Mark has said that Engineer Mark and Actor Mark are not the same, but I don’t really remember. I think that’s all I have to say. There’s a lot I didn’t say and probably some videos I forgot. Anyways I hate this guy, he’s an asshole"

Sommarnattens Leende (Smiles of a Summer Night) (1955)
The upper classes of Sweden love, hate, and cheat on each other, then get mad at each other for it.
There’s a fair amount of parody when representing the rich people, in paricular how hipocritical their codes of honour are and how fickle their feelings can become. The women are often blamed for the actions of the men so it’s satisfying when some decide to start plotting and manipulating the male characters.
As is often the case with straight romance movies, it’s a little exhausting to see them pretend to love one another when their attention can be distracted as soon as another person of the opposite sex enters the room. The ending is also presented as happy even, since it’s a comedy, even when it’s unhealthy in basically every respect.
A few other parts of the comedy land well enough, like the passive aggressive dinner and the older woman giving out overtly terrible life advice. There’s a little suspense thrown in due to the guarded displays of anger and russian roulette is a naturally suspenseful game even with there being an obvious twist for the purposes of the genre.
Very little is said about one of the men eloping with his own step-mother, especially strange since whe basically aggrees in her sleep and he had been giving speeches about virtue the entire movie. None of the couples before or after can really be called a love story, it’s closer to speed dating where everyone just moves one partner over.
3/10 -This one’s bad but it’s got some good in it, just there-

Darkened Nights (Violent Things)
Fic Week Day Two: Alternate ending to an episode
“I choose Aaron Hotchner. He's a classic narcissist. He thinks he's better than everyone else on the team. Genesis 23:4. ‘Let him not deceive himself and trust in emptiness, vanity, falseness, and futility, for these shall be his recompense’.”
The silence in the room was palpable. In almost perfect synchronicity, every head turned to face the man in question only moments before he stormed out of the room, footsteps echoing throughout the house.
"I'm not a narcissist," he said, pacing back and forth as the others entered the room, slowly as if approaching a wild animal that could attack at any second.
"Come on. Look, you can't think anything from that. He's not in his right mind, Hotch," Gideon tried to reassure him, quickly stopping when he was interrupted.
"No, stop. Stop." The room fell quiet once again. "Alright, everybody right now - what's my worst quality?" His head turned frantically around the room, taking in everyone's hesitancy to answer. "Okay, I'll start. I have no sense of humour."
"You're a bully," JJ said hardly a second after he'd finished.
"I'm a bully," he repeated.
"You can be a drill sergeant sometimes."
"Right."
"You don't trust women as much as men."
"Okay, good. I'm all these things, but none of you said that I ever put myself above the team, because I don't, ever. So why did Reid say that I do?"
"Don't jump to any conclusions just yet. Reid is smart. For all we know, he could have been leaving clues this entire time. We just need to find what they are."
"Clues? We don't even know if Reid's aware that we saw that!" His voice raised at Gideon as an exasperated arm was thrown in the air. "What sort of clue is 'narcissist'? That doesn't lead us anywhere. Like you said, Reid is smart. His clues would be more obvious than that."
He turned on his foot, heading back in the direction he came from. The others all shared a look of trepidation before following after him. They'd never seen their boss so unsettled, and in turn it was fraying their nerves in an already precarious situation. Gideon was the only one to look unperturbed but even Emily, who had spent such little time around the man, could see the tightness around his mouth and the stiff way in which he stood. He may have been acting as though he wasn't bothered but they could see right through him. Despite this, they walked on without mentioning it, knowing how private of a man Gideon was.
Back in the computer room, the tension was so thick it was almost suffocating, squeezing their hearts like a clenched fist prepared to strike at any moment. They were all on edge, staring intently at each blank screen as if they would come to life, the answer to the question that was plaguing them all displayed clearly on the screen. But there were no bold letters written out in front of them. There was no easy solution. Their youngest team member was still at the mercy of an unsub that had seemingly no plan to let him leave alive and they had no way of finding him.
Hotch cursed softly under his breath and stalked out of the room once more after several minutes had passed without so much as a mumble from anyone. The team knew better than to feel any shock at Hotch's out of character expletive; none of them could blame the man for not acting like himself. Instead, they looked to Gideon for guidance. The older man held a single hand up, preventing them from joining him in going after Hotch. He searched through the rooms, not finding his colleague in any of them, and then the grounds outside. It was a few feet in front of the house that he finally spotted him. If it wasn't for the gentle rise and fall of his chest, he could've been mistaken for a statue.
"He's still alive."
Hotch showed no sign of having heard Gideon approaching or settling a few steps behind him, and yet he didn't startle at the words, his stare remaining off into the darkness.
"You can't prove that."
"It's Reid. He always survives."
A small sound filled the air. It would have passed for a chuckle if the bitterness had not been so clear, as if it had rotted within him before being set free.
"You know, sometimes I feel like God sent Reid to me for a reason; as if there was something I could do for him. I couldn't even teach him how to deal with the emotional side of this job before I sent him into what's probably going to be the most traumatising thing he's ever going to experience."
"Then you help him through the aftermath. You still have time, Hotch. Your work isn't done."
Hotch shook his head. "I can't save him."
"All by yourself? Probably not, but I wouldn't be surprised if you did. You've got an entire team in there, Hotch, ready to risk everything. You helped him become the agent he is. If there's anybody that can help him again now, it's you. You understand him. I'm sure there's something Reid mentioned that tells us where he is, but we need you to not treat this like he's already gone."
Neither of them spoke. The only noise between them was the delicate wind, soft whispers floating throughout the air as if sending a message that he couldn’t quite decipher. Hotch’s head dropped down to face the dirt below him, a queue for Gideon to leave that he thankfully took, making his way back to the house that he was beyond tired of seeing. A small breath left Hotch’s lips, almost a sigh but not quite. He knew that Gideon was right. Standing outside staring at the ground wasn’t helping anybody but Hankel, and yet he couldn’t quite find it in himself to turn around. Spencer’s words were playing on repeat in his mind.
“He's a classic narcissist. He thinks he's better than everyone else on the team.”
Was he right? Of course he was, Hotch thought to himself. Spencer was never wrong, and he wouldn’t use the word ‘narcissist’ so lightly. But if he truly did put himself above the rest of his team, could he really trust himself to do what was best for one of its members? After all, everybody else was in that god-forsaken house, working tirelessly to bring Spencer home, and here he was: standing alone outside, focusing on his own problems instead of helping them.
With a shuddering breath, he turned around, pausing for only a moment before heading back to his team. Reid may have been right about the narcissism, but he would do everything in his power to get him back regardless. Reid was still alive, and he intended to find him that way as soon as he possibly could.
They all worked until the sun came up, the bright gold rays almost taunting them as they shone in through the windows. It was as the morning light hit that Hotch finally managed to force some of them to sleep. Morgan, JJ and Garcia were the firsts to go, though Morgan was only out for barely two hours before he returned, letting Gideon rest instead. Hotch felt the need to ask if he’d managed to get any sleep at all but based on the drooping of his eyes and the anxious clenching of his fists, he felt it wasn’t necessary.
They continued the search, finding dead end after dead end, and all the while both Hotch and Morgan refused to sleep. Prentiss eventually conceded, taking JJ’s space once she’d woken up. Hotch was rather impressed by how well she functioned on such little rest but he didn’t spare much thought on the matter, knowing that there were more important things at hand. It was only after the third time that they’d nearly fallen asleep on each other that the two men finally accepted that it was time to rest. They needed their entire focus on getting Reid home and they wouldn’t be able to do that if they were incapable of thinking. With heavy hearts and much hesitation, they left the room.
Neither of them had wanted to sleep in the house, the knowledge that they were currently residing in the home of the man that had their friend was hanging over their heads, making it almost impossible to even stand in. Instead, they chose the comfort (or lack thereof) of the FBI SUVs. Hotch climbed into one as Morgan climbed into the other, both immediately sitting in the driver’s seat and laying it back as far as they could go.
Being mid January, there was a strong chill in the air despite the persistent shining of the sun above them. Hotch wrapped his suit jacket tighter around himself, trying to maintain any sense of warmth that the thin clothing gave him. His eyes fell shut and he attempted to fight back every thought that was swarming around in his mind, loud and obnoxious and refusing to leave. It felt like hours of trying to quieten his mind, though in reality it mustn’t have been more than thirty minutes, when the passenger side door opened. His head instantly turned, eyes flying open as the lack of sleep made him more paranoid but less alert.
“I’m guessing I’m not the only one who can’t sleep,” Morgan said as he dropped into the seat next to him, door slamming shut behind him.
Hotch grunted, eyes closing again. “I knew I should’ve just stayed there and continued working.”
“No, you still did the right thing coming out here. I want to be in there just as much as you do but we’re no help if we can’t even stand upright.”
He hummed non-committedly. “Maybe so. Doesn’t make me okay with being out here while my team is in there working.” Typically, Hotch would never speak to a subordinate in such a way. The lack of sleep, however, was really beginning to affect him, taking away his filter.
It was silent for a few beats, no sound to be heard in or out of the car, until Morgan finally spoke again.
“You know Reid doesn’t actually think you’re a narcissist, right?”
“I hardly think it matters. I’m his boss, he’s allowed to view me in whatever way he does and I have no say in that.”
“But you’re not just his boss, you’re his friend. He had to name someone so that Hankel would stop the roulette. He did it as a means of survival and that’s it. There’s nothing more to it.”
Hotch swallowed hard, still refusing to open his eyes. If he didn’t see Morgan there, he could almost pretend he was talking to himself.
“I just… he’s so young, Morgan, and he’s been through so much already.”
“I know,” Morgan replied quietly. “It’s awful just watching him go through it, I can’t imagine what it actually feels like to be trapped there.”
“We haven’t even seen a video of him in hours and I don’t- It’s not like I actually want to see him being hurt but I’m going out of my mind wondering why it’s been so long.”
Morgan sighed. “I wish I had an answer for you, man. I get it, though. Seeing him is awful but at least we know he’s alive. Right now we’re stuck in this weird limbo where Spencer Reid is both alive and not alive and there’s nothing we can do about it.”
“Schrödinger's Spencer.”
Morgan didn’t reply for a moment but when he did, it was with a snort. “That’s such a Reid joke to make.”
Hotch let out a light chuckle. “I suppose it is,” he said, his head gently falling back to rest against the seat behind him, “and I suppose that’s a sign for me to go to sleep.”
“Aaron Hotchner cracking jokes? Absolutely a sign to sleep. Good night.”
A small smile made its way to Hotch’s face for hardly a second but the weight that had been taken off his chest felt more permanent. “Good night, Morgan.”
It only took a few minutes after that for the two of them to drift off into a less than restful slumber, the anxiety still flowing through their veins making it difficult to stay asleep. It was enough, though, and by time they walked back into the house, they were ready to start the search again. “What have we got?” Hotch asked as they entered the room.
“Nothing new,” Prentiss informed them, a restrained disappointment seeping into her words. “We haven’t got any more videos, we’ve searched everywhere that’s connected to him, and there have been no new murders.”
“So another dead end." Morgan's fists clenched by his side but he managed to hold himself back from hitting anything.
“I know it’s difficult,” Gideon said, “but we just have to wait it out. I’m aware that the last thing any of us wants is to sit around doing nothing but until we have something to go off, there’s nothing we can do but be patient.”
“Patient,” Morgan murmured with a small scoff. “Right. I’ll just be patient while my best friend is off being tortured.” His eyes drifted around the room, lending on the stack of books sitting on the table. “I guess I’ll go through Hankel’s writing again, see if we missed anything.”
Hotch watched as he reached for one of the books. “I’ll help.”
---------
“We’ll have to watch the videos again.”
Every head turned to face Gideon. They’d spent the past few hours reading the books, over and over and over, looking for any little thing they could’ve missed. Garcia had conducted the most in-depth cyber search possible, trying to find anybody and anything that could be connected to either of the Hankel men. Everything had come up empty. The only thing they had yet to do was rewatch the tapes. They knew it was the next logical step but the thought of watching Reid go through that pain all over again made them feel sick to their stomachs.
“JJ, Garcia, neither of you need to stay for this. Go see if you can get some food together for us, it’s been a while since any of us have eaten a real meal. I know it’s already dark but take a car and see if you can find something. Prentiss, Morgan, you’re free to join them if you’d rather but your eyes would be of use here.”
Once Garcia had loaded the videos ready to be played, her and JJ followed Hotch’s orders, though not without some hesitation from the latter. Morgan and Prentiss immediately sat down without a word, prepared to watch them regardless of how much they wished it wasn’t necessary. It was an unspoken agreement to not acknowledge the way everybody froze momentarily as the first video started, an image of Reid coming onto the screen, clear signs of physical trauma evident.
“The other heathens are watching. Choose a sinner to die, and I’ll say the name and address of the person to be saved.”
“I won't choose who gets slaughtered and have you leave their remains behind like a poacher.”
“Did you see that?” Morgan asked. “The way he looked into the camera before he spoke. What did he say - ‘leave their remains behind like a poacher’? I think that’s a clue.”
Gideon considered him for a moment. “I think you might be right. Here,” he handed him his notebook and pen, “write it down.” He played the next video.
“Tobias, help me.”
“He can’t help you, he’s weak!”
All four of the viewers flinched as skin hit against skin; as whimpers and cries fell from Reid’s lips. Morgan’s fist hitting the table was ignored as the agent on screen fell back in his chair, head hitting the floor with great force.
“You came back to life.”
“Raphael.”
Their focus didn’t leave the screen, watching intently as Reid stared God’s Will directly in the eye and didn’t flinch, God’s angel holding the trigger.
“Choose.”
“I choose Aaron Hotchner. He’s a classic narcissist.”
Hotch exhaled deeply but didn’t stop watching, listening to the words that had been playing on repeat in his mind since he’d first heard them. Morgan’s mouth opened as if to speak when Prentiss suddenly raised a hand in front of her, stopping whatever he was going to say. The men looked up at her and she put a finger to her lips, her other hand pointing in the direction of the room next door. They remained silent, ears straining to hear what Prentiss was referring to. It was a few moments later that they realised what it was - a small thump.
Immediately alert, they all reached for their weapons, drawing them up and preparing to defend each other. Hotch crept forward, signaling for the others to get behind him. He moved soundlessly, slowly approaching the door frame that led to the front room. Once at the edge, he glanced into the room, immediately spotting the man standing on the other side.
Morgan moved to stand next to his boss. Gideon and Prentiss would’ve taken the only other door in the room, leaving him with no exit, but there was no path to get there without passing him. Instead, they pressed close, ready to charge in behind Hotch and Morgan. As they were about to move, the man turned around.
“Aaron Hotchner,” Hankel said, voice low but strong, back straight as he stared down his target. “You’re a sinner. Job 15:31. ‘Let him not deceive himself and trust in emptiness, vanity, falseness, and futility, for these shall be his recompense.’ You must repent.”
His arm hadn’t raised more than a few inches before four different guns went off, bullets lodging into several different parts of his body. He dropped.
Gideon immediately pushed forward, crouching down to check the man’s pulse. “Dead,” he told them.
“Did you hear what he said?” Hotch’s voice was subdued, his gaze fixed on the body on the floor.
“What about it?” Prentiss asked.
“Job 15:31. He said it was Job 15:31. Reid said it was Genesis 23:4. Why would he get it wrong?”
“He’s under a lot of stress. It’s understandable if he misremembered something,” Morgan answered, though he sounded sceptical.
“But he didn’t misremember it. He misquoted it. So what does Genesis 23:4 actually say?” They all hurried to the bookcase that contained bibles, Hotch getting there first and instantly grabbing the closest copy to flick through the pages, sparing hardly a glance at each. “Here,” he said, passing his book to Morgan, “Genesis, chapter twenty-three, verse four. Read it.”
Morgan took the offered bible, finding where Hotch gestured before reading it out loud. “I am a stranger and a sojourner with you. Give me property, forbear a place among you that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”
“He wouldn’t get it wrong unless it was on purpose.” Shock and relief stretched his lips into a smile.
“He’s in a cemetery.” Prentiss realised.
At that moment, the door opened and in walked the two that had left earlier, each with a bag on their arm. “Oh my God,” Garcia gasped as she saw the man on the floor, bag falling next to her feet with a thud. “Who is that?!”
“Is that Hankel?” JJ placed her bag down next to Garcia’s but paid no more attention to the food it contained, her focus entirely on the face that was currently surrounded by a pool of its own blood.
“It is,” Hotch answered quickly. “Garcia, check to see if there have been any reports of poaching in the last couple of days.”
“Okay, okay, uh…” She trailed off as she rushed to the computer with the others following, taking care to not step in the blood. It took less than a minute for her to set up the system and conduct her search. “A farmer reported two sheep being slaughtered on his property.”
“Where are we talking?”
Garcia zoomed in on the map in response to Morgan’s question.
“What’s that patch of green there?”
“Marshall Parish,” Hotch replied to JJ. “I think it’s an old plantation.”
Emily leaned forward, catching everyone’s attention. “Wait. Tobias wrote in his journals about staying clean and keeping away from Marshall.”
“Does that say that there’s a cemetery on the ground?” Gideon pointed at the screen.
“We’ve found him,” Hotch breathed. “We’re going to save him.”
-------
“FBI!”
As soon as Hotch’s foot hit the floor after kicking the door open, he was moving. Along with some of the local police, the team entered the cabin, guns drawn and eyes on alert as they searched for any sign of their missing agent.
“Clear!”
“Clear!”
“Oh! What’s that smell?” Prentiss scrunched her face up against the overwhelming scent in the air, casting her glance around the room to find the source. She spotted it on the floor: a pile of burnt fish. The smell threatened to take over their senses as they coughed against it, fighting the urge to leave immediately.
“Let’s spread out. He has to be here somewhere. Let’s go!” Hotch stormed ahead, looking as though the stench hadn’t had the slightest effect on him.
Gideon watched as everybody fanned out to search the grounds as his eyes took one last look over the room, being drawn to the pair of handcuffs laying haphazardly on a chair that he clearly recognised from the videos. Spencer had been sitting in that chair. He’d had those handcuffs on him. He’d been surrounded by that smell. So where was he now? He couldn’t have let himself out of those cuffs, but Hankel wouldn’t have just let him roam free.
With that thought in mind, he left into the darkness of the winter night, the chill immediately seeping into his bones despite the thick clothing he had on to protect himself. An image of Spencer, as frozen as the real Charles Hankel, pushed its way to the front of his mind completely unbidden. He did his best to shove it back, knowing it wouldn’t help. It didn’t leave.
They scoured the cemetery, searching over every inch looking for anything that might tell them where Spencer was before it was too late. Hankel must’ve left him hours ago without a fire or any other means of warmth, it was no wonder that he’d finally become desperate enough to leave the cabin on his own accord despite the great risks it presented him, Hotch thought.
He was aware that Spencer could’ve made it to a road by now but judging by the presumed lack of shoes and warmth, as well as his recently sustained injuries, he felt that it was reasonable to assume that he hadn’t gotten far. Just to cover all bases, he sent some local officers further up, closer to where they’d arrived from.
They’d been searching for over twenty minutes when they finally found something. A patch of soil, packed more freshly than that around it. It had been recently planted within the last few days.
“Morgan!” Hotch yelled at the top of his lungs, above the noise of everybody else calling out a different name. He instantly dropped to his knees and began clawing at the dirt, scraping it out and throwing it in random directions, not paying any mind to anybody around him. A body dropped down next to him and hands joined his own but neither looked at the other, concentrating only on the cold ground below them.
They dug and they dug until they hit something - something colder than the dirt it was surrounded with, something much paler. They continued tearing at the floor even more savagely than before, desperation leaking through at the sight of the foreign object. Fear gripped them tighter than the cold did, making them work harder and faster until suddenly a white cloth was visible, soon followed by a familiar dark red.
“No, no, no, no,” Morgan muttered, each word faster and louder than the last. “Come on, man!”
Hotch pulled away dirt from higher up, more gently this time, though he refused to acknowledge what could be under it until he finally saw it. A face, skin soft and almost glistening in the moonlight, marred by dirt and blood. Spencer.
He wedged an arm underneath his back as soon as the opportunity presented itself, Morgan having pulled enough of the ground off of his arms for it to not cause any harm, and he pulled. Once the top half of his body was fully out of the dirt, his hand raised on its own accord in search of a pulse as Morgan set to work on the CPR.
No pulse.
His breath caught in his throat but his fingers didn’t move. He was vaguely aware of the ringing in his ears but he ignored it.
“Please, Spencer. Please,” he forced out through gritted teeth. “Wake up. Come on. Wake up!”
“Not like this, pretty boy. Not like this.”
Morgan hadn’t stopped the CPR, going harder than what was necessary. It didn’t escape Hotch’s notice that any CPR at all may be unnecessary as he took a closer look at the boy in front of him. His eyes were closed and his skin was freezing to the touch. At first Hotch assumed that he must have been buried only hours before, likely just before Hankel left on his final self-righteous mission. Now, though, as he stared at the blue-tinted pallor of the agent in front of him, he doubted it.
Spencer Reid had been dead for at least a day now.
“Morgan, stop,” he muttered half-heartedly, his line of sight not moving from eyes that wouldn’t open. He’d never forced Spencer to make eye contact with him before but he was wishing with everything he had that just this once, he would; that just this once, Spencer would open his eyes and stare right back at him.
The aggressive panting by his ear hadn’t stopped, but he couldn’t tear his eyes away. What if Spencer opened his eyes for only a second as he looked away? What if he missed Spencer’s final breath? What if-
“Morgan. You have to stop.” His voice was weak but it was all he could muster, still not looking away but being able to see the hands still pumping down on Reid’s chest as he periodically reached up to perform mouth-to-mouth. “Morgan.” He didn’t stop. “Morgan!”
He finally snatched his eyes away from those in front of him, becoming frozen in place as he watched Morgan lose control of the tears rolling down his face. Small sobs fell from his lips but he was clearly holding them back, trying so hard to save a dead man. It didn’t look as though he’d even heard Hotch’s words.
With a shaking breath, Hotch put his hand on Morgan’s arm, not surprised when it was instantly thrown off in a rather violent manner. He put his hand back, holding tighter but still getting thrown off. He forced himself to sit back, body threatening to collapse under the stress of it. Harsher than before, he gripped Morgan’s arm and pulled. Nothing. He pulled again. Nothing.
“Morgan, he's dead. You have to stop.”
Morgan furiously shook his head but otherwise didn’t acknowledge him, leaving Hotch with only one other option. He wrapped both of his arms around the man’s torso and pulled as hard as he could, refusing to let go no matter how much the struggling man tried to get away. Morgan’s arms flailed wildly but Hotch didn’t budge.
“You did all you could, Morgan. You did all you could. There’s nothing more to do. I’m sorry,” he murmured into his ear, the low volume not entirely on purpose.
“No!” Morgan shouted, fighting harder against the restraints of Hotch’s arms. “We can’t just give up on him!”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he repeated, finding himself unable to stop apologising despite the fact that the words were unable to reach the ears of the person they were meant for.
“Hotch, we can’t- we can’t just give up. We can’t just give up.” At this point Morgan had stopped struggling, both against Hotch and the sobs that were now ripping their way out of his throat. His head buried itself into Hotch’s shoulder as his hands came up to grip onto the arms around him, his legs slightly curling up as wails of agony tore through him.
Around them stood the rest of the team, watching the scene in front of them unfold whilst knowing that there was nothing they could do to help. JJ and Penelope were wrapped around each other, tears falling freely from their eyes as they listened to the slowly quieting cries of the usually hard-to-break agent. Emily was completely frozen, her breath slowing to almost a complete stop. Gideon’s face remained unchanged, though the tears blurring his vision were hard to miss. He took one more look at the man he considered his son, and he turned around, walking away back into the darkness.
Hotch’s arms loosened but didn’t let go of the man inside of them. His apologies hadn’t stopped even as his eyes became less focused, his mind trying to take him somewhere far away but failing to take him further than that cabin. It was ironic, he thought, that a house belonging to someone so dedicated to his worship could be so void of God. No, there was no God here, but there had been an angel, and he’d taken Spencer Reid away from them.
“I’m sorry,” Hotch whispered. “I should’ve understood.”

HI KATHY I wuv u too!! And since I Totally Pranked You by already talking about you before answering your specific ask, I’m gonna use this opportunity to do more positivity toward our lil group chat
I fully blame @forideals for dragging me so deep into KIU hell that my blog now catfishes you into thinking it’s just a Pit blog before turning out to be a multimuse. Surprised she hasn’t throttled me for stealing her identity tbh /j
But seriously she has such an understanding of not just the KIU world / characters, but that of everyone she writes, and it’s so clear that every one of her muses is written from a place of love. Straight up I owe it to her to watch a playthrough of Like a Dragon now because her Ichi is so lovable? Not to mention her impeccable taste in anime rhythm game lesbians.
I will also let her make fun of me OOC for playing Smash any day, I deserve it

Hi! I saw your ask meme and i was wondering what would be your answers for 7 and 51 😈
Hi! Thank you for asking! So obvs this is gonna have spoilers but that’s not a surprise lol. Also I apologize in advance if this ends up way too rant-y...
7. Favorite Class Trial from All the Games
I’m guessing this question is one for each game and if it isn’t, oh well! I’m naming one per game!
For THH I would say it’s Trial 4. Sakura is an amazing character, the twist of her being the traitor was unexpected and well executed because her motives for both teaming up with and then later betraying Monokuma made sense for her character. The twists and turns throughout the trial were, admittedly, a little obvious with how the evidence was set up (throwing the blame on Hiro and Toko made me think it really wasn’t either of them), but tbh I really was expecting it to end with Hina as the culprit. Finding out Sakura killed herself was both heartbreaking and surprising. The character moments are so good too! A lot of ppl fault Hina for trying to get everyone killed but honestly, I think it was justified for someone like her in the situation she was in. Plus the bonus of the whole “emotions vs. logic” argument that jumpstarts Byakuya’s character development was a nice touch. Overall, the trial had emotional impact, interesting twits, and important character moments that served as a great turning point for the narrative as a whole.
For DR2, its also gotta be Trial 4. Gundham was my fave character from DR2, and him being a blackened surprised me. The lead up to the trial was interesting (even if the motive was a really forced one), and the stuff with the final dead room was really cool. I liked playing as Nagito for a bit and the whole Russian roulette thing was funny. But I think my fave part about it was how it was essentially a perfect crime. If Fuyuhiko did not happen to be where he was when he was, Gundham could have gotten away with it. And if Nagito wasn’t as batshit insane as he was, they never would’ve learned the secret of the funhouse. The mysteries in the trial were actually challenging, and required a lot of critical thinking to solve which was fun! The motive made sense, and Gundham seeking out Nekomaru worked for both their characters. It really was a moment of understanding, where they both accepted their deaths (whatever role they ended up playing) to save the others. It was definitely bittersweet, and totally made me cry, but I really enjoyed it overall.
For V3, I feel like this is kind of obvious from the giant neon “oumota shipper” sign, but Trial 5. V3 was an... interesting ride for me, mainly because I knew a lot of what happened before I even played it. I did not however, know shit about Trial 5. Which honestly, made the whole experience better. From a narrative sense, it was pretty obvious Kokichi was the one under the press, but what was holding me back from really solidifying my stance on that, was that I could not imagine Kaito doing all the shit that the person in the exisal was doing. Kaito was my fave character from V3 (and prob overall) because not only am I a sucker for himbos, but the complexities behind his motivations interested me. (I could rant about him for hours) And this trial just skyrocketed my love for him because he had so many badass moments. Kokichi’s role was still so prevalent, even after his death, and the amount of planning and intelligence required for this plan to work is just mind blowing! The lead up was interesting (even knowing that Kokichi wasn’t the mastermind), the motive made sense, the plot twist of the Kaito/Kokichi team up was one of the best twists I’ve seen in any media, and the result was so emotionally impactful, it made for a nearly perfect narrative. I think my favorite thing about it though, was the backseat Shuichi (and therefore you, as the player) ended up taking. It truly felt like you were playing as a secondary character observing the real protag and antag battle it out. The game really hangs on the protagonist bit. From the twist in chapter one to how often Shuichi is hyped up by the other characters as the only one they can rely on in the trials, his importance is hammered into you from the beginning. But yet when their actual best shot at ending the game happens, he’s just watching it unfold from the sidelines. Its neat! Overall this trial was emotionally impactful, confusing as hell (in a great way), and had some of the best character moments in the series. (Also Kaito dying before the execution could kill him was an amazing final middle finger to Monokuma, the mastermind, and Danganronpa as a whole. Love it.)
51. Character you Thought you Were Gonna Dislike but Loved in the End
This is a super interesting one and mainly cuz I never really find myself “disliking” characters. I will have characters that I don’t really pay much attention to or care about, but those usually end up being ones that don’t hold significance to the story, so its never really a big deal. That being said, idk if this is gonna come as a surprise or not, but my honest answer is, Kokichi.
I wouldn’t even say I “disliked” him really, so much as, my opinion of him changed the most in a positive way. I was already deep in the fandom by the time I started V3, and I saw the fandom’s opinion of him, and since I’m not one to really like the most popular option, I didn’t have high expectations. And don’t get me wrong, I love antagonists, villain characters are usually some of my favorites, but something about the fandom interpretation of him didn’t make me all that curious or excited about him.
When I was first introduced to him, he struck me as the type that was an asshole for the sake of being an asshole, and a lot of what he did was kind of annoying. He progressively got more and more unhinged, his motives didn’t make a lot of sense to me, and I was starting to get the impression that his entire character was going boil down to “out of his mind insane so he’s evil”. Which tbh, is a pretty boring villain trope. He was fun and entertaining during the trials, and I was never against any of the shitty things he did because he’s the antag, its what he’s supposed to do. But overall, I just sort of felt like he didn’t live up to the hype, and he was only popular because he was “edgy, evil, crazy boi.”
But then, of course, Chapter 5 happened lol. Finding out Kokichi’s motivations, seeing his true intentions, and leaving him off as a mystery ended up transforming him into one of my favorite characters. I really liked that he turned out to be crazy because he was smart instead of smart because he was crazy. If his final words are to be believed, he didn’t like doing the things he did, he felt like his hand was forced, and each one of his actions was carefully planned out in order to achieve his goals, which ended up being well meaning. Making him a foil to Kaito’s character ultimately made his character that much better because it showed the other side of his coin. It challenged his methods, while also putting the player in the position of evaluating their morals, because of how much better his way of doing things worked.
Kokichi is a great anti-hero. Which is a character type I love. It just took me a while to get to that point because of how the game frames him up until the reveal of his true nature. I think he ends up being a much better character on a second playthrough, because you can actually see the reasons behind a lot of what he does. His asshole behavior becomes much more tolerable, his motivations make a lot more sense, and a lot of his irredeemable actions become understandable.
#ok yea this turned into a rant#I am so sorry!!#but thank you for the ask#it was a lot of fun!#danganronpa#dr2#drv3#asky thingys

so im in this killing game rp as nagito,, and its rough. ive been drawing lots for it and this isnt even all of it, just my first bit of art.
explanations about the rp underneath cut, sorry its gonna be long i cant help but ramble about the rp its really good
its non-canon related, obviously, since its an independent killing game outside of the canon ones, with characters from all 4 games in it. but oof the development that happened
first drawing is ch1 - simpler times. were using the hopes peak map, which means only 15 dorms, so nagito got put in the trash room. hajime offered to let him stay in his dorm. obviously, this led to “uh oh theres only one bed!” even though nagito was willing to sleep on the bathroom floor so he wouldnt make an ultimate be close to him, gundham ended up bursting in and taking the bathroom.
next drawing is ch3 - i didnt draw anything for ch2 even though it was wild rip. but in ch2 hajime ended up revealing he had no talent which led to nagito acting mean all of sudden, but he was still denying the feelings he had developed. during ch3, the girls - sayaka, mahiru, chiaki, komaru, and sonia - made an idol group together and decided to perform. hajime ended up helping them, seemingly not knowing that he even knew how to dance himself, and nagito got a bit flustered by it but pretended otherwise.
then, after the concert, nagito asked sayaka if he could steal the stage. he got up on it and pulled out a gun and played russian roulette, which led to everyone panicking and getting furious with him, and ultimately led to the circumstances in which sayaka was murdered that day.
last two drawings are ch4 - in ch4, we woke up in a virtual reality on a cruise ship. in the previous chapter nagito had gotten lectured by the girls regarding how he was acting towards hajime, and was grappling with the fact he still had feelings for hajime, despite knowing he was talentless. hajime had also told him in the previous chapter, after they were paired up for the motive (valentines motive, lovers sort of thing) that he was pursuing talent, and showed him a scar, but didnt elaborate. so nagito was trying to talk to hajime on the ship, possibly to apologize or at least act nicer, but hajime kept avoiding him.
nagito got framed for murder but when doesnt that happen. but just before we logged out of VR to investigate the body in the real world, hajime started freaking out and saying he didnt want to die, and if the logged out, it would be over. he didnt say this to nagito though, he said it to some of the others. so when we woke up, hajime was missing, and nagito was the first to ask where he was. he was no where to be found in the school. nagito continued on with investigating, despite internally panicking, he was acting unphased.
hajime didn’t show up until just before the trial started. kokichi had made a cruel joke in the elevator, saying he saw hajime’s body in the trash room. nagito told him bluntly that it was a cruel joke to make, and left the elevator quickly to go check. but as soon as he turned the corner, hajime was walking down the hall - but he wasn’t hajime anymore. that’s what the comic is about, their meeting in the hallway.
after the trial, it was clear by now it was izuru, and not hajime anymore. so nagito tried to talk to him in private, and the last drawing is what resulted. izuru basically told him hajime was dead, and nagito began to actually break down, feeling nothing but despair in that moment. he didn’t even get to tell hajime his actual feelings before he lost him, and he blamed himself and his luck, since he let himself get close and attached to hajime.
#nagito komaeda#hajime hinata#izuru kamukura#komahina#kamukoma#danganronpa 2#super danganronpa 2#danganronpa#sdr2#my art#im working on a lot more art for it rn#but i wanted to post these doodles altogether

anyways, as per tradition, here are my favorite lines from romeo roulette!!:
“so you’re not interested?” “who said that?” SO FUNNYNY even as a side character u nail sicheng’s humor 😭
“Do you think they’re X-men? We’re a long corridor and closed doors away.” KILLED MEEE this fr made me chuckle... jaehyun u r such a pain... doesn’t kill u to be cautious 🙄🙄
“....and they think I’m in a gay relationship with Taeyong because we still have our friendship rings from college.” PLEAAAAASE I LAUGHED OUT LOUDJDJ THEIR FRIENDSHIP RINGS ARE VALID!
“I want you enough to forget the system. Give me an answer. Please.” felt my chest SQUEEZE here i went into this fic knowing jaehyun would be the one to bare his heart first but it still hurt
“He takes a deep breath. ‘It hurts to not be wanted by someone you want. You know that. So why are you doing this to me?’” HURT SO BADDDDD TEARS ROLLED
“I don’t give a shit about the system. The same as your girlfriend—oh, sorry, did you forget about her already?” THE CONFRONTATION DID NOT DISAPPOINT AT ALL!!!!!!! i was crying during most of it but this line is just [chef’s kiss] what the FUCK do u know abt soulmates dongmin... whore
“Sicheng sighs. Love makes people crazy. He’s not falling into that trap when his soulmate literally doesn’t exist, the same as his soulmark.” WAHH???????? HE DOESNT??? Ok well me neither,... i volunteer 😗😗
- tata 💖 (the last ask abt R.R. was from me too, forgot to sign it!!)
love u for this Tata honestly, this made my day 💕
HDHDJDJDJD sicheng in this fic is who I am in my friend group (kind of) and him being subtly but not so subtly nosy sounds like him.
Omg the x men dialogue is from my friend !! She was loudly complaining about our prof so ofc our mom friend was like shh!!! not so loud!! And she was like ya our prof isn't an x man (and she hasn't watched the series) it was rlly funny at the moment kdjfjdk
Everyone in the office also thinks he's in a gay relationship with taeyong but can u blame them 😔
I just like making jaehyun's character suffer in fics and I'm not sorry </3 he deserves a little angst. Also him being petty with dongmin needed to be a scene bc that man is still competitive 🤚 HDJRJRJD YOI CALLING DONGMIN A WH*RE PLS 😭😭😭 I SNORTED SO LOUD MY NOSE HURTS ....
omg I kind of let it rest there instead of explaining but sicheng doesn't have a soulmark bc his soulmate doesn't have a soulmark either 😌👍(crappy explanation but that's what I had in mind dbfnfn) so yeah you can volunteer alright ‼️

Dr. Cee, most of your asks are about your characters but what about YOU?? Are there any girl groups that you like?? How are you feeling? Do you have pets? L O L - *smooch*
omg dr. cee!!!! that makes me sound smarter B-) thank u for asking me these questions i am excited to answer them
i’m not tOO big on girl groups but i do listen to a couple of red velvet and twice songs every now and then!!! just their popular ones because i don’t know what else to listen to :D russian roulette always gets me bouncing up and down!!!
i’m doing just fine!! i aM feeling a little sluggish today but i’m just going to blame it on quarantine B-)
when i was nine i had a little bunny named vanilla and i loved her to death because she had one floppy ear and one straight ear <3 and she had a brown patch on her floppy ear <3 ALSO i had a pet snail when i was 14!! i was upset because my mom told me i wasn’t allowed to have anY pets with fur so when i went out for a run i noticed a little snail on the ground and i picked it up with a leaf and brought it home and was like :-) u said no fur :-) this is all slime and no fur :-) and i thought it would piss her off but long story short my mom basically fell in love with it anD she named him sulley aND he lived a long and happy life (we had him for four years!!) and we keep his shell in a display box!! ALSO he loved strawberries!!! he grew to be the size of my whole hand which was terrifying
and we would give him tiny showers with the garden hose every day!! i was going to get him a friend before he died but then i found out that snails were hermaphrodites and if i stuck another one in his tank he would either get her pregnant or would be impregnated so i was like ok maybe not
oh aND one time he ate through my math notebook and everyone in the class thought i was high on drugs when i told the teacher i didn’t have the assignment done because my snail ate through my homework
i wish i was lying

▲ for inoue
lmfao I KNEW i was gonna get a bleach-related one it was a russian roulette toss-up between inoue ih bleach itself and kubo and i guess inoue drew the short stick!
anyway, inoue:
when she confesses to rangiku during the arrancar invasion that she’s jealous and petty and selfish I think that was an incredibly accurate assessment of herself. People tend to view inoue as self-sacrificial to the extreme; I’m gonna posit the exact opposite. Inoue’s primary character trait is selfishness, and her self-sacrificial tendencies actually stem from her need to have people view her as pitiable, and therefore as lovable + worthy of attention and protection.
Like, I know the sentence ‘inoue is selfish’ elicits a knee-jerk response of ‘how the HELL is she selfish’, but, like, I’m not talking ‘won’t share a snickers bar with a friend during lunch break’ selfish, I’m talking primary character motivation kind of selfish. Everyone’s selfish to some degree, it’s a goddamn survival instinct! and it’s no wonder that inoue, who’s had to survive hostile situations since she was little, has a little more of it than most other people. Inoue’s niceness is a coping mechanism!!!! Some people get traumatized and become prickly and shut the world out. Inoue got traumatized and decided, well, she’s going to go in with all white flags waving. She’s gonna extend her wrist out to people wielding knives, and well, if they slit her wrist, at least the people watching won’t be able to blame her- they’ll be on her side, they’ll think she was a poor thing who got taken advantage of. inoue isn’t self-sacrificial in the usual sense of the word; her self-sacrificial tendencies are for display, for an ulterior motive. and the ulterior motive is: love me. you can’t hate me, not when I’m this nice. Not when I’m risking life and limb for what’s ‘’’’’right’’’’’.
you can really see this base motivation come through in the arrancar arc, especially when she’s healing loly and menoly after they abuse her. That part? it was’t put in the manga to show what a paragon of mental fortitude and purity inoue is. it was put in there to show us that inoue has an unhealthy obsession with needing to appear as ‘worthy of love and protection’ at all times, and that’s why she’s in hueco mundo. She’s not there for some lofty reason like ‘i’ll kill your friends if you don’t come’ – that’s the reason given for it out loud, sure. But the unspoken, subconscious motivation was that she needed to know they’ll all come to rescue her- that she is worthy of All That, just like kuchiki-san was. That’s why the other nakama are dying out there in the sands – because of her. because she needed to know that she was as worthy and as loved as kuchiki-san. that scene wasn’t an ode to inoue’s all-forgiving nature. it was a condemnation. (shit, that entire arc was a condemnation of inoue, and funnily enough, ichigo. because their faults lie along a very similar ley line– it’s why they’re so terrible for each other. but that’s another meta for another day.)
anyway, that doesn’t mean she’s not a nice person. Who cares if her actions are motivated by a subconscious trauma response that not even inoue fully recognises is driving her? The actions themselves are good actions. Just as a tragic backstory and childhood trauma doesn’t excuse you being a raging asshole, a tragic backstory and childhood trauma doesn’t negate the good actions that you do because of it. Inoue does good things, and she means well, and it’s only because her genre HAPPENED to be shounen (where every fucking NPC on the street has superhuman goodness and courage + her actions, however well-meaning, led to actual blood and consequences for people) that her faults even came to light in the first place. That’s out of her control!
So basically, i guess the unpopular opinion here is: inoue’s primary character trait is selfish. but a) that’s because it’s a coping mechanism and trauma response, and b) it doesn’t negate the fact that she does Good Things with Good Intent, and c) I LIKE HER BETTER WITH A LITTLE SELFISHNESS ANYWAY. SEASON YOUR FOOD. LET YOUR FEMALE CHARACTERS BE FLAWED ETC ETC
#tw bleach and inoue analysis smh thats an entire genre on its own#Anonymous#q&a#replies#bleach#bleach meta#fangirl life
