wolfstar teacher!au that I can’t get outta my head
so for the past couple of months, this wolfstar au set around the teachers at hogwarts has refused to leave me alone, so here y’all go have a list and tell me what you think. (more backstory than actual wolfstar in here!)
Welcome to Hogwarts Academy, where things aren’t currently going great for the Science department.
Minerva McGonagall runs maths. Fiercely protective of her further maths girls numbers, Minerva would personally fight anyone who so much thought of being a sexist prick in the science department. What this usually meant was she ended up fighting Severus, often.
She and Rolanda Hooch are the lesbian mums of the entire faculty.
Sirius Black, twenty-something alumnus of the Academy, teaches Art, because they’re a walking talking queer stereotype and boldly embrace it, paint-stained clothes and all.
Sprout and Grubbly-Plank teach biology. Snape teaches Chemistry. Flitwick single-handedly runs the entire Physics department, and has progressively gotten more and more frantic and upset after a stream of horrible new physics teachers, none of whom lasted more than a year.
(There was Mr. Quirrel, who was white but wore a turban because he felt it ‘reflected his spiritual being’, and none of the Muslim students liked him. After a nasty incident at the end of term involving a can of air-freshener, a bunsen burner, and a distinct lack of safety goggles, he had to… be removed for his own health, shall we say.)
(Then there was Mr. Lockhart, or, as Grubbly-Plank referred to him, ‘misogynistic idiot’; he’d written a pseudo-pop-science book once and thought he was a bit of a celebrity, he was convinced all the women on staff wanted to sleep with him, was fond of inappropriately turning on the charm on his students, and… didn’t seem to know any science, at all. After the third student showed up to Sprout’s office, trying to get out words about him being not entirely comfortable to be around in classes, she declared war on Lockhart, discovered he’d plagiarised an impressive amount of information, and marched into Dumbledore’s office demanding he be fired: ‘Dumbledore, my ten year old niece could teach physics better than he does, and on top of that, my niece isn’t creepy.’ He didn’t even last a full year.)
(The department is still reeling from Mr. Moody, who used to teach in the 70s, had a career change, and went off to fight in Iraq. He came back a war vet, and after a few years off decided he wanted to come back to teaching, but in addition to still acting like education hadn’t changed one bit, his methods were also rather… unconventional. He seemed to think he was preparing soldiers, barked orders at teenagers, and demanded ‘CONSTANT VIGILANCE!’ if they forgot the half in ‘half mv squared’. After an AS lesson about two months in that Flitwick walked in on where he was teaching projectile motion through a… very vivid question about bombing Iraqi planes, Flitwick decided he’d had enough, and the science department pitched in to patch up and teach physics between themselves for the rest of the year.)
Which brings us to now, where Flitwick and the entire science department, exhausted, have put out another vacancy.
Between themselves, they’re sort of resigned to not having a decent physics teacher yet again, as Minerva told Rolanda one night, “I told Filius, better no teacher than a shit teacher, he and I will teach physics single-handedly if we must”, and Rolanda just sighed and shook her head at her wife.
Enter Remus.
He’s young, finished his undergrad and went straight into ITT, and this is his NQT year. A physicist trained in physics teaching is a rarity, which worked in his favour, because he needed to move, and quick. (His teacher training year was rough—in between coming out to his family, he got on the bad side of a group called the Greybacks, and his year ended with a violent encounter with their lead, Fenrir, a guy a few years ahead of Remus at school, leaving him with some impressive scars, a massive uptick in anxiety, and a need to get the fuck away from Reading.) One day his alert-me-about-teacher-postings email dinged, and… Scotland. Perfect. Very hard to get further north than Scotland, unless you want to teach in the middle of the North Sea.
It’s an impressive posting, on paper. A private boarding school, based in a freaking Scottish castle, in, essentially, the middle of nowhere. It’s got its own goddamn train, for crying out loud. The posting says, Teachers are welcome to arrange their own accommodation in the nearby village of Hogsmeade, but subsidised accommodation in Hogwarts castle can also be provided. Please indicate which option you are interested in when you apply. Remus doesn’t expect to get in, not with essentially no experience, but there’s a little note at the bottom of the vacancy that says, Teachers in their NQT year are also encouraged to apply.
Truth is, after the spate of bad teachers, Dumbledore’s, shall we say, eccentric management techniques, and the general isolation of Hogwarts, no actually experienced decent teacher really wants to go there. It’s acquired a bit of its own reputation. The only people who apply are awful (see above), and the occasional young teacher.
(Flitwick, after the disastrous past few years, has resolved to give preference to ‘fresh slates’—teachers with next to no experience, who have yet to be corrupted by misplaced fame, or weird culturally appropriative spiritualist ideas, or the military, or any of that. When he sits down to look at the applications, a little bright-blue post-it note on his desk reads: 1. No celebrities! 2. Nobody violent! And in Grubbly-Plank’s handwriting, NO misogynistic idiots!!! (Yes I know it’s phys, Filius, but there have to be some))
Remus instantly makes the interview stage. Not too keen on making someone all the way south travel to Scotland, and slightly fond of the idea of a day out themselves, Flitwick and McGonagall (mostly there for intimidation, and to ensure the third bullet point is fulfilled) take a trip down to London, and meet Remus in a coffee shop.
(Yes, it’s unorthodox, but there is some benefit to being privately run; also, school’s let out and they can’t have an in-class test anyway, and they’re desperate.)
(There were only two other applicants: one was a sixty-something year old woman who talked a little too much in her application about ‘enhancing traditional values’ for Minerva’s comfort, and the other was a geographer. The competition isn’t too stiff, honestly.)
Flitwick takes to Remus quickly—Minerva raises her eyebrows, slightly concerned, at the scars down the side of his too-thin face, but he’s quiet and unassuming in a way that’s a relief after the double-horror of trying to deal with Moody and Lockhart’s, ah, expansive personalities. Also, he has a physics degree, so he can’t be a complete idiot… right? (Right. Flitwick quizzes him on misconceptions about gravity, and, after a moment, asks, “How would you go about introducing projectile motion?” Remus blinks, smiles, picks up a sugar packet, and says, “Catch.” Flitwick does, relieved, and adds, just for good measure, “Just so you know, we disapprove of using, ah, more violent metaphors or examples when teaching.” Remus frowns, perplexed, but just says, “Of course.”)
On the train back to Hogwarts, Flitwick sits cross-legged on a seat, valiantly attempting to eat a wrap that’s fallen apart in the bag, and Minerva sips at a takeaway cup of Earl Grey and declares, “Well, I like him.” Flitwick looks up from his wrap and smiles. “Yes, I rather think I do too.”
Which is how, completely shocked, Remus J. Lupin lands himself a teaching position – just on a year contract, but oh, it feels brilliant, he’s going to be teaching –  and how, one week before the students arrive, he gets off the Hogwarts Express with a suitcase and a battered briefcase with R J Lupin inscribed on it, held together with a large quantity of neatly-knotted string, and a large man shakes his hand, and says, “Welcome t’ Hogwarts, Mr. Lupin. I’m Rubeus Hagrid.”

Technology and Covid-19
It’s no doubt Covid 19 is here to stay for the forseeable future, it may even be felt for years to come, socially, economically and even in the tech world which has become a very prominent aid for people in every sector of society. for example conference calling has become a forefront in in the continuation of work meetings and education. it has allowed us to remain socially distanced but connected electronically. this however can be argued very much if it’s beneficial or worse as for some this is a new territory they are not comfortable with, in this article I shall glance over the impact of technology in the age of the pandemic, discussing strengths and disadvantages of the chosen tech. I shall also discuss and speculate the impact of technology post pandemic and what it has for us in the future.
Tumblr media
So what technology has come to the forefront because of this global pandemic? I shall list off a few technologies that are helping society move along in an unprecedented age of working at home and remaining distant and fighting the virus.
1, Conference calling
Conference calling is probably the most notable use of technology that has come forward in the breakout of Covid 19, its use in governmental, work and education has been instrumental in keeping the world running, applications like skype, discord and zoom has existed for years but in this time their use has peaked. one big question that has been asked is this here to stay, this argument has been made for education, [1]“We’ve seen about a two-times increase and we expect that to go to five or 10 times in the not too distant future in terms of learners making the shift to a fully online education,” said John Baker, founder of D2L, owner of the Brightspace learning management platform. (john baker, 2020)
it is said this could be the new norm for education around the world but what are the drawbacks of this? this is all reliant on the student owning the materials to use the app, for instance a student may not have the resources such as a computer or internet connection to even use the technology, in a world where the fight of equal opportunity in education this could hurt potential student who could otherwise excel in these fields of study, having facilities ensures students get the experience and tools to practice their passions. another argument is the social skills children learn at school, having an all online education could push us even further away from each other as we become more reliant on technology. it’s often said we have been plugged in too long, the rise of social anxiety has been argued as a main symptom of too much technology use (mainly the internet and social networking) so distancing students away from each other could exacerbate these things. [2]“At the dawn of widespread internet usage in the mid-1990s, researchers were already beginning to examine the effects of internet usage on our mental health. The concept of “internet addiction” was first studied in 1996. Since then, there have been many studies linking problematic internet usage to various psychological issues, including anxiety, ADHD, autism, depression, hostility, schizophrenia, social anxiety disorder, loneliness, and stress.”(2019, Chris Kresser )
Tumblr media
Security is another serious factor in the use of conference calling, the rise of corporate and government espionage used in conference calling is on the rise, some governmental bodies have even had to put a stop to certain conference calling applications due to the security flaws they have, for example many governments have been advised to not use zoom because of how weak the security is. [3] “UK government told not to use Zoom because of China fears” (2020, guardian article title)
There has also been a swift increase in “trolling” (disrupting/mocking/bullying on the internet) in these security attacks, for example a popular youtube content creator “Twomad” created a compiled video of him invading Zoom lessons and disrupting the classes. [4]“Invading Random Online College Classes...”(2020, twomad’s youtube video title)
I have focused heavily on the bad things about conference calling so what’s the good? the main objective good things about conference calling is clearly the social distancing aspect in this time of covid 19, the fact we can continue to plod along with our educations and work (outside of physical labour and work that cannot be done with conference calling another huge disadvantage for obvious reasons) it has posed some difficulty in these times but many of us can continue to work, and study. For context, I currently study a computing course and the use of discord has allowed me to continue my work, i also believe the almost 24 constant connection with tutors on discord has become somewhat of an advantage than the use of a timetable for a few days in the week allowing for constant support on my work. I also personally believe the use of recording an online lesson is super beneficial as I can refer back to things I may be stuck on as I often have a hard time concentrating, and eliminates struggle in personal study.
2, The rise of artificial intelligence for predicting outcomes of the virus.
I truly believe prediction is a great way to prepare and prevent, the rise of AI technology has allowed us to possibly predict outcomes, these can be infection rates, deathtolls and even recover rates, these technologies allow us to have a glimpse into the severity of the virus before we have reached the predicted outcomes, knowing these outcomes means we can put in measures hopefully adding prevention and preparation for bleak predictions. there are obvious advantages to this which I have mentioned [5]”The better we can track the virus, the better we can fight it. By analyzing news reports, social media platforms, and government documents, AI can learn to detect an outbreak. Tracking infectious disease risks by using AI is exactly the service Canadian startup BlueDot provides. In fact, the BlueDot’s AI warned of the threat several days before the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the World Health Organization issued their public warnings.” (2020, Bernard Marr, Forbes)
[6]"I have been doing this for 45 years and I have got three drugs to market," Dr Brown told BBC News. But AI is proving much faster. "It has taken several weeks to gather all the data we need and we have even got new information in the last few days, so we are now at a critical mass," [4](2020, Dr brown, BBC article) this information has proved beneficial in tackling issues with the virus, it has allowed for very quick results as an AI can trawl through years of medical study in a few minutes finding all the relevant information. allowing for treatment or science to be applied quicker in tackling the pandemic, the longer the pandemic goes, the more deaths will be the outcome of it.
Tumblr media
As with all Technology there are some huge drawbacks, one of these is for the prediction of rates, deaths etc... Seeing as we have very little data on the virus that has the world in its grip how can AI effectively be helpful? you could argue that this is all AI speculation [7]“Consider, for example, the claim that AI was the first to detect the coronavirus. Machine learning is very dependent on historical data to create meaningful insights. Since there is no database of prior Covid-19 outbreaks, AI alone cannot predict the spread of this new pandemic. What’s more, the claim implicitly overstates the ability of AI to inform us about huge and rare events, which is not the strength of AI at all. As it turns out, while software may have sounded the alarm, grasping the significance of the outbreak required human analysis.” (2020 ,Alex Engler. Wired article)
This however can still be an aid as new data is cropping up from the very real situation we are currently in, the data may be in it’s infancy, but the AI could still use this data and give us a faster result which may aid in the pandemic.
3, Resources for hospitals and 3D printing.
Resources are no doubt expensive and in short supply, respirators which are a very important tool for keeping infected individuals alive, the virus attacks the lungs and can essentially give rise to symptoms that suffocate the infected. however, these tools have been in short supply due to the number of infected.
3D printing has been instrumental in combating this shortage as this much needed respirators can be created easily and cheaply through a click of a button, there is just one oxymoron that keeps this at bay, the price of 3D printing machines, the cost of printing may be very cheap but the technology used to carry out the printing is very expensive,
Tumblr media
(image of 3d printed ventilator credited to Leitat technology centre)
[8]“This is an emergency respirator, for an emergency situation, designed with 3D technologies and incorporating other parts found on the market. Assembly is very fast, so we can produce about 100 of them per day, and I hope many more in the days to come.” (2020, Manel Balcells, 3D natives article)
The advantages are certainly there, it’s quick and cheap it allows for fast action in a world where the infection is increasing, this is all dependant on if hospitals have the technology at hand, some companies allow you to rent their 3d printers, which could be an increasing strain on funding from the health services around the world who need to tend to other expensive healthcare tools.
[9]”You might have to pay through your nose to afford 3D printing hardware, software, and material. Industrial 3D printers cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, which locks out many businesses from accessing and using the famed technology. The cost of 3D printing often depends on the amount of materials used. Big orders are expensive while small products are cheaper to print. 3D printing is not as competitive as conventional manufacturing techniques when it comes to large assemblies. That is however expected to change as the price of printers and materials decrease” (2019, 3d printer geeks)
However, Universities and other outlets have come together to use the 3D printers they already own to donate the ventilators and respirators to hospitals, showing that the health services are backed through sheer humanitarianism.
[10]“Researchers at the University of East Anglia have launched a project to 3D print ventilator parts, masks and other critical equipment to battle the Covid-19 virus.”(2020,UEA article)
So what is the takeaway of all this?
The impact of technology has been huge in the latest months of this pandemic and it’s helped the world continue to live without threat of infection due to working from home using conference calling, the main problems I believe that are faced is the lack of social interaction which can be a real issue with humans in general, we are social creatures by nature, plugging in to long has its negative effects and this rise in online learning and working from home could feed into an already recognised problem with technology and social aspects of life.
The impact has shown us we can also use computers for prediction for preventative measures albeit with data that’s in its infancy I believe it could still be beneficial alongside human speculation as we know we cannot rely on a computers prediction which could be harmful instead of helpful, making a clear judgement on information given from AI needs to be looked over by expert eyes.
And finally we have seen technology be helpful towards combating the virus in an infected individual in the age of lack of resources with the use of 3D printing. a technology once considered a gimmick has now got a direct human benefit for creating useful items in healthcare, and in despite of expensive technology the people owning this tech have lent their own machines and have created tools for healthcare through donations to the health service.
And thus technology has granted us extremely effective tool in unprecedented times.

Entry #2
Hello again. First things first, let me give you an update on my day so far. It’s only 4 PM, so who knows what might happen. It’s been an off-day, which is quite annoying seeing that yesterday was such an on (right?) day. I was so productive yesterday and feeling so awake and energized but today, anxiety was through the roof. I’m shaky, anxious, and have a general feeling of fogginess, like I’m floating through today in the clouds. I don’t feel 100% present because I just feel so confused in my own thoughts & irrational fears.  My first guess at this is because I just started to take vitamin supplements. Just a simple one-a-day women’s multivitamin with some magnesium and turmeric supplements on the side. I noticed yesterday that an hour or so after I took them, my energy sky-rocketed. I was a little uncomfortable at first, but I sort of eased into it and got my work done. Today however, it was a little too much. I felt super uneasy, restless, fatigued, and unable to concentration. It was almost as if I was going into some sort of manic state. I’m thinking it might be the B vitamins in the multivitamins that are making me feel a bit bonkers. I’m going to test this tomorrow by cutting my multivitamin in half and taking that with my magnesium and turmeric and see how that makes me feel. I’ve taken magnesium by itself before in the past and it never caused be any problems, so I have a feeling these vitamins might be the underlying issue. Readers, you’re going to have to get used to this. I tend to try and diagnose myself or try and figure out the underlying issues of my current-state-of-mind on my own. There’s no one that knows myself better than i do and being so constantly in my head all the time, I know when something isn’t right. With that being said, I love to analyze every crevice of my brain, personality, and everything about myself to better understand not only what the issue is but also to better understand myself as a whole.  This past year and a half has been a lot of that. A lot of self-reflection and figuring out exactly what makes me, me! It’s scary, but at the same time, very exciting. This feeling of uneasiness and restlessness led me to start pondering about the various irrational fears and stresses in my life. For example, I woke up this morning to me remembering the conversation I had with my boyfriend on the phone. It was a usual conversation, like any other, filled with lots of “i love you” and “i miss you” but then we started getting into finances. When he came up to visit this past weekend (we do long-distance even though we only live about 1 hour away from one another) and we just splurged. Needless to say, we spent a lot. He started discussing other job options that he could take and mentioned going back into restaurant-managing. As he said, if he were single, he’d go do it and make a lot more money that way. The words “if I was still single” resonated in my head like not other. The logical side of me knows that he didn’t mean he wished he were single or that this relationship was a burden to him, but my irrational side just wouldn’t have it this morning. All I could think about this morning was whether I was burdening him with our relationship or that he’d be better off without me because he would be spending less money, would think of himself rather than both of us, etc. I know these fears are irrational, HOWEVER, I am unable to stop thinking of them. The perks of anxiety am I right? Because I was already thinking of our financial topics talk, I began to stress about money. I don’t have a job, well kind-of. I walk dogs and pet-sit on the side to earn some form of income. I’ll be going to Vegas this weekend for my best-friends birthday and lets just say I have to be very stingy with my money. I have a couple of walking and house-sitting gigs coming up soon but they’ll be in the next 2 months, whereas I could really use the money like NOW. On-top of that, I also have to buy her a birthday present. This was brought to my attention when she told me about her wonderfully spent birthday yesterday, leaving me feel inadequate and that I have to do more for her. I was so happy to hear about her day and how well she spent it, but the conversation made me feel bad that I didn’t send her a package or something on her birthday and was waiting until I saw her in Vegas. Irrational thoughts again. Next came the wonderful stresses over school! Yay! My Favorite. I have a midterm coming up this week in my Physics of the Environment class. Let me remind you, I am NOT a physics major, I actually despise the subject (sorry) and my brain simply doesn’t understand it as well as it understands biology or other concepts. It’ll be open book, open laptop, open note, open EVERYTHING but I’m just scared I’ll have a huge brain-fart and just completely forget how to do any math! Hopefully it’s not too bad. On top of that, I have a group project in that class and having to manage my time during the week is difficult (because I’m almost always occupied every weekend).  And who could forget worrying about the future? Certainly not me. I’ll be taking the MCAT this summer after I complete my course and the idea of that test honestly scares the living shit out of me. Not only the content and the length of the exam, but the fact that it LITERALLY is my ticket to medical schools (at least through the primary application process). My GPA is not at the average 3.7-3.8 so my MCAT score is what’s going to be making me a competitive applicant. I’m scared to study for it, I’m scared to take it, and I’m scared that my score will not be good enough. Overall, I’m just scared. It’s a giant hurdle, no no, scratch that, a giant fucking WALL that I need to learn to park-core over or some shit. I know I can do it, I’m just scared. FINALLY, everyone is already getting post-grad jobs and everything! Meanwhile I have to still do my course and finish up two more classes in the Fall before even considering working anywhere. I know everyone is on different time-lines but I can’t help but compare myself to others I surround myself with and question whether I should be looking for a job too? So that’s it for my daily anxiety and worries. Onto more productive things! I’ve wanted to create a Goal List for the month of May. I used to create the bullshit “New Years Resolutions” but let’s be realistic here, you almost always forget those after a month or two. So let’s try and be realistic by taking it step by step, or in this case, one month at a time. By hopes in creating this is that when the month ends, I’ll be able to look back at my list, see which ones I’ve accomplished (or haven’t) and use that to brain-storm another set for the following month. So here goes. —————————————————————————————————- List of Goals for May 1. Eat healthier (seriously, stop snacking on junk food, resist!) 2. EXERCISE - Start running like you used to!  3. Practice breathing techniques; they’re not as stupid as you think they are 4. Draw at least one piece of artwork  5. Have a nightly face-washing & flossing routine 6. Create an MCAT study plan for the summer 7. Express yourself more; don’t hold it in and DO NOT be afraid of being “too much”  8. Call to check in with your parents & best-friends more, one simple call can make a HUGE difference 9. Write these entries at least once a day - keep writing it all out! 10. Continue to think of at least 3 things that make you happy throughout the day —————————————————————————————————- I think that’s enough for now, and in accordance with Goal #10, I’ll also put in my 3 happy things for today (even though I know the day is only half over). —————————————————————————————————- May 2nd; 3 Happy Things 1. Making a goals-list (that’s do-able) 2. Calling one of my best-friends from home to see how she was doing 3. The tree’s rustling in the wind and how beautiful they look —————————————————————————————————- Ahh. Officially done. Thank you.

Competition Psychology: How And Why To Compete
Competition Psychology. And you, how do you face a competition?
More and more people are entering the world of competition, from participating in typical popular races, to the great Marathons, passing through other sports of equal competitiveness such as in the world of professional Fitness , Bodybuilding or any activity Where you must overcome your opponent and often yourself, we should not limit ourselves to associating this concept only with high competition, every day inevitably, each of us competes for something.
Do we know how to compete? What is hidden behind self-improvement? Why do we compete?
Entering the competition is really a double-edged sword, on the one hand it will give you great satisfaction but on the other it will also alert you with big blocks.
What does Competing mean?
We are in front of an active verb that finds its roots in late Latin, compete comes from "compet ĕ re", aspire, go to meet ..., together with its adjective of "competent", efficacy in a certain domain in human activity .
We relate competing with concepts such as effort, winning, overcoming and even with sweat and tears. Each of these definitions will bring us closer to our own reality of what competition means to us and consequently will also determine how we approach and carry it out.
There is someone to talk about competition is a prohibited term, a term that reminds you of your disabilities, your fears, even your weaknesses and prefer to turn your back on this concept, for others competition is synonymous with personal improvement , satisfaction , full body dumbbell workouts , results that lead victoriously to always improve . The latter, without a doubt, have blurred limits in their lives, for the former the limits are strictly delimited.
Some love to move forward, they are in constant motion, for others, getting out of their comfort zone can be tremendously difficult and frustrating.
What do you compete for?
●          To achieve improvement, you always want more and better, just for the desire to constantly improve, not simply perfectionism
●          To enhance your own security, pride and self-esteem
●          To pursue new challenges that will lead to motivating challenges and to continue fighting
●          To seek well-being and feel full when you cross your own limits as a result of desired levels of endorphins and dopamine
●          To feel respected and admired in front of your social circle, parents, children, partner, friends ...
●          To be your own rival
What do I do if I get nervous before a Competition?
You must stop interpreting the competition as a threat, think that you have enough resources to fight and to face the situation.
Whenever we fear something, our own nervous system reacts with an anxiety response ( sensation to a greater or lesser extent than any competitor experiences at the finish line ), this sensation affects us both physically and psychologically, making us vulnerable and defenseless. it is about learning to manage it and use it to our advantage.
Feelings in front of a Competition:
●          Sweating
●          Muscle seizure
●          Shortness of breath
●          Chest pressure
●          Intestinal problems
●          Difficulty sleeping the night before
●          ... and a long etcetera of symptoms
What is clear is that you should never spoil a long year of training, planning and sacrifice for not knowing how to effectively manage an emotion, in this case the fear of the unknown, the fear of losing, the fear of not being at height, the fear that any circumstance stands in our way towards the goal. The only solution is that you learn to manage it efficiently today and that you can overcome the blockage and anxiety that it produces.
How do i do it?
1.         Plan your Goal and Visualize it
Write (literally) your own story to establish a contract with your brain. As Sie7e singer David Rodríguez says " If it fits in your mind, it fits in your world ". You need to plan your workouts beforehand using logic and being guided if necessary by a professional. You must visualize and write down your process and your situation on the day of the competition, anticipate the feelings you can experience and think of strategiesto beat them. This anticipation is nothing other than the same recommendation that teachers and educators follow on a daily basis in their classrooms with young children, who find it difficult to understand and react to an avalanche of different stimuli. Everything for which you make an adequate anticipation will lead you to be prepared for their subsequent confrontation.
Logically, the result that you will get when crossing the finish line is not just your question, it will depend on other people, it is beyond your possibilities and anyone's to determine in which position you are going to be, unfortunately we are not fortune tellers, therefore, not we can realistically determine a goal like “win”, it is all very well that this is our goal, but if we are trying to overcome the anxiety generated by placing ourselves on the starting line, this objective is the least realistic, the only thing it will do is to generate more responsibility and greater burden, the opposite of what we are seeking to feel at that time.
There are (few) people who use this type of determining objectives and fortunately they serve them, but most do not have the same luck, so if we want to avoid frustration and prevent higher levels of anxiety, we must establish realistic objectives , those of us who are capable of achieving without dying in the attempt, for example, it would be good to quantify them in a more general way, “ my goal is to be in the top 100, 50 or 10”Depending on your own physical condition. You must think in terms of your own performance, how far you can go and what you can do to achieve your goal. In your own script you will also write everything you can do during your participation in the competition, for example, in the case of a marathon, you can plan the speed you will carry, the hydration you will take, the technique you will use, even the clothes you will wear .
You will only have to train your mind to face the situation, apart from being what you eat you are also what you think, and you only have two options which are fully confronted with each other,
Either you think in terms of Success or you do it in terms of Failure
2.         Concentrate on the Present moment
When you are in front of the starting line, keep full attention on the situation you are living and dedicate all your concentration to it, it will not be positive to start your competition with the fatigued brain and believe me that it is exhausted just like the muscles of the body do and Its consequences can really be even worse, so stay focused on the present moment you are living. If you have never read Nick Nolte's book " The Pacific War " this would be a good time, it would help you to understand well and internalize the situation that I am presenting to you. At this point we will separate the result of the objective from our mind and we will focus on being aware of the performance and decisions that we will make throughout thecompetition.
The brain is not capable of attending to two activities at the same time offering the same performance, if you think about the mistakes made in your past, " sorry for the vulgar expression " you screw it up, if you only think about what you want to achieve you are placing yourself in your future and shit again, the result of doing this will lead you to cultivate high levels of anxiety and even to abandon the sport or activity for which you are preparing in the near future. Focus on enjoying, living and planning your present, being clear about your goal but leaving it in a drawer of your brain, you can turn to it when your motivation decline or when you feel that your strength is weak but not before, he is there and you fight to satisfy him, he will not move but it is you who will have to make it happen.
3.         You must learn to suffer and be willing to do it
Although it seems strange to you, this  is also trained. Think that any competition requires more demands than a workout, you are going to experience completely different sensations, you are going to give it your all and for this you must prepare yourself. The typical statements such as " I can not ... I am going fatal time ... what happens to me ... so I will never arrive ... the judges will see that I have failed ... it is sure wrong ... it is quite a horror ... but what the hell am I doing here … ”The result of this will be that you focus on the bad thing that you are having and possibly it will lead to bad results and to accumulate a certain resentment towards the activity or sport that you are carrying out. You are going to have hard times, they are going to be part of your success, value them, prepare for them and face them.
You must reinforce yourself mentally to intelligently face all these sensations, really competing is something more than constantly telling yourself that if you can, it is finding your best version, competing at the best level and being able to bear really strong physical and psychological loads, such as pain and suffering or negative feelings to which sooner or later you will say good morning.
The path to success begins with ...
1.         Pursue your own improvement
2.         Don't whip yourself if something goes wrong
3.         Control your anxiety and activation levels
4.         Enjoy the new sensations and use them to grow
5.         Work on your confidence and your own safety
You can never let your dreams fade due to a feeling of confusion, tension or fear caused by a certain disturbing situation, remember that the only person who can leave you on the road is you.

Only five% of refreshing merchandise that are released once-a-yearly are truly creative. Picture that for a second, ninety five% of all new product releases are essentially knock offs of an industry chief. Yet another way to state it, the festival defeat them to the marketplace and now they’re striving to get a piece of an innovative market by duplicateing the competition’s new innovation. An illustration of here’s the just lately launched Android, 4G sensible call. Here is a ideal example of what I’m detailing. Apple’s competition observed that Apple designed an innovative smart phone; Apple’s competition saw that Apple pioneered this marketplace; and developed a market for the iPhone. So now the organic chain of get-togethers is to knock off the leader’s sizzling product, by opposite engineering it as quickly as they may possibly get their arms on one.
Innovation is the very best security towards a economic downturn. I can prove this by making use of a positive kitchen area wares manufacturer that was able to preserve their $one hundred million in annual product sales by including SKUs, new product. This kitchen wares firm was able to maintain that sales level throughout this recession by introducing new innovative products. Although other organizations have been shedding their sales by fifty% in twenty07 and stopped growing new products; this company preserved that $100 million in sales. The sales of every new product were practically nothing to compose property about. This problem was settled by changing stock degrees. In my impression this was genius.
I percentaged this product strategy with a sales govt in the glass production industry and manufactured the remark that this strategy was genius. His comeback was that if this strategy was so genius why does not Mc Donald’s boost their menu? Perhaps he failed to understand that Mc Donald’s was doing precisely that, extending their menu. Throughout this recession Mc Donald’s went after the Starbucks market by providing their high end coffees and do not neglect that healthful demographic that they are dating now.
As an OEM Venture Boss, Product Developer and Salesman for above 20 many years my clientele and I might very easily say, “We incorporate six – calendar year to love the income margins and amortize the tooling before the product is knocked-off and we must minimize our benefit to maintain the sum. As you’ve got considered with the iPhone, the reply is to have a model 2 ready in the wings to release. Recently Apple is liberating their “4G” version of the iPhone; what does this do? It retains the anxiety on the competition to consistently engage in capture up with the industry leader. So what takes place after the competition introduces their version of a competitor’s innovation? Margins go down, volume goes down, and your innovative product turns into yet another commodity soutdated by price.
So one would have to request on their own why are there so couple of innovative product launches when it is innovation that will give your sales pressure the reward needed to contend in an ever increasing aggressive international marketplace. The basic answer is no vision; fret of failure; not realizing the dynamics of innovation; advertising vs. knocking-off; and suiting costs are just a few of the motives a company continues to be distinct of developing new innovative products and desire to be copy cats. I use to perform for an man or woman whose philosophy was to let the competition do the research and then copy what they did after the head aches were labored out.
So how are innovative products developed? The answer is really simple; analyze your marketplace and establish what it is that your clients want and or need in your product. OK, is this less complicated explained than completed? It all relies upon how you consider, if your Sales Group is hearing your clients and whether or not your manage team is chance damaging and not prepared to take a chance. What are the dangers anxious? If done proper the risk is very constrained. The risk is minimal since there’s a structure to stick to and when done right you get your customer’s purchase in even though the product is currently being developed. The flipside to this strategy is to knock-off your competition’s innovative product.
As a Project Manager / Account Manager for one of the most significant OEM speaker manufactures in the entire world, Foster Electric. Foster makes Apple’s ear buds, and manufacturers products for Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer, Clarion, Kenwood just to name a few. I experienced clients this sort of as Radio Shack, Fender Musical Equipment, and Wal-Mart. A single’s quick thought is what can be innovative in the world of speaker manufacturing? The speaker industry has been an integral part of the consumer digitals industry. Carry you ever been in a video theatre when the audio went out? Or have you ever viewed a DVD without having 5.1 Dolby virtual audio? The results are wonderful; it really is the audio that give the movie the dynamic truly feel of home theatre.
Innovation is deviating from the norm and generating anything that other folks will chortle at or willing to action out on a limb and take the conceptual soar to design something apart from what is actually in the market. As a Project Manager / Account Manager / Product Designer for an OEM speaker company one of my OEM accounts was Targus World-wide. If you’re not acquainted with Targus they are the kinds who make travel components for notebook personal computers. I designed the 1st micro-subwoofer, (Sort of like jumbo shrimp). Targus wished a transportable multi-media technique that they could encourage for the touring salesperson to take on the street and make Strength Stage shows. The design and the execution was a accomplishment. The travel speakers were examined using a mini travel DVD participant and the “Leading Gun” DVD as the test. The sound breakup could be read changeover from speaker to speaker and the deep bass seems had a definite dynamic to the audio element from the laptop.
I’ve been doing work on an innovative product for the very last 5 years for the iPod market. As a speaker manufacturer I have requested myself what is the most popular audio selling product in the marketplace and how can some other share in its success? With this said one calls for to have an understanding of speakers, recording, the iPod and the problems with the iPod. What comes to head temporarily is 1. The ear buds are unhealthy to ears; 2. The sound sounds tiny; and a few. There’s missing material when CDs are made. The lost content happens when the recording is made during the compression phase of the recording. The missing content circuit is the venture name for a very innovative iPod or iPhone accent. This product hasn’t made it to market. The cosmetic of it is that it is an old idea, sixties – seventies with right now’s engineering. We arrived up with two variations, a high end and a cheap version. Does it work, of course!
“An old idea, nevertheless with new technology”, now which is what innovation is all about. King Solomon, of the Bible, said that there nothing new under the sunlight. That being said confirms my assertion: “An old idea, but with new technology” is a real method for innovation. Presently’s computer chips alongside with the development of DSP, Electronic Sign Processing makes it possible for us to produce products that are entirely brief to our creativity.
Innovative products warrant increased profit margins; innovative products make your company a player in the marketplace rather of a “Me As well”; and being the innovator places your company in the driver seat with product development. Some of the best technological developments were simply sophisticated because it took a present disease and made it far better. Whether or not that better is more rapidly, smaller sized, distant, blended attributes, and so on is simply an old idea made to function better.
The ipod is nothing a lot in excess of a walkman of the 19eight0s.
The iphone took that ipod and incorporated a cell phone to it.
A automatic capsule is nothing more than an 8 1/2×11 piece of tablet paper that is tied to a computer.
The flat monitor tv is no more than an extension of the televisions of the nineteen fifties.
The home theatre industry peaked in the early 2000s with the arrival of low-cost flat screen televisions and 5.1 Dolby sound programs. Now the 5.1 speaker systems are constructed into the flat monitors with psychoacoustics processor that reproduce the identical results of the Dolby Digital 5.1 Encompass Seem.
Specified improvements were unable to develop till other industries had developed. The Photovoltaic Market place is a perfect example of such a case. The Photovoltaic Industry, better acknowledged for the solar panels seen on roofs to heat drinking water, is an example of an industry that couldn’t advance until certain other technologies had advanced first. Advancements in Nanotechnology were essential to develop the electric powered producing movie that is revealed on the glass. The printing technology and the software of the Nanotechnology film on glass did not develop until the turn of the century. This innovative technology, although being utilised, has not completely matured is on dangle until extra developments are made in making the conversion of the solar calories more successful.
The advancement of incorporated circuitry and the further advancement to reduce the general size of the electronics. This miniaturization of electronics was advanced with the wave solder device and the automobile-insertion machine. Even though individuals two improvements were meant to reduce labor. The auto-insertion machine permitted for the precision and set up of very very small area fixed integrated circuits, (electronic substances), on printed circuit boards.
The question is which team do you want to be a part of; the 5% of truly innovative new product launches with increasing sales or the 95% of new product launches that are knock-offs whose prices are established to match the competition and sell by price instead of selling the price and features.
