Can we just pour one out for Geork/George and Catherine? At least Rades, Sally and Valtos knew why they were dying and that it wasn't their fault, that it was Licht who betrayed them and not the other way around. But those two sat for months in a cell after having their memories read, probably feeling like they betrayed the man they owed their lives to, and all of a sudden one day their bodies start crumbling away and their souls get sacrificed. No one came to save them, they got no explanation, they died alone and either had no idea why or thought it was their punishment for their "betrayal".

I just have a lot of feels about the Eye of the Midnight Sun members. Especially since I've started playing the mobile game.

Yeah! That must have been genuinely horrifying for them, and all the other members who died that way with literally no explanation for what was happening to them.

Part of what I find compelling about Sally Valtos and Rades is that against all odds they survived despite everything they had been through, but it’s tragic that the others aren’t given any real chance to live too

Chapter 2: Burn

FNAF Detective!Sun & Detective!Moon & Bounty Hunter!Eclipse x Vigilante!Reader (SFW)

Eclipse stands in the hallway outside of his brothers’ apartment, and he holds you close. Blood drips onto the carpet, slipping off of your dangling arm. His coat covers your injuries but not the colorless fragility seeping deeper into your body with every passing moment. Your eyes lay closed. Your head slumps heavily against his arm, barely propped up, but you breathe. He won’t let you slip away from him.

Word Count: 1,900~ Warnings: Blood, injury, and obsessive behavior.

A/N: Due to the recent Bounty Hunter!Eclipse brainrot, I expanded on the prompt in Chapter 4 of Heavenly Bodies in Case Files and this is the aftermath! I also added that chapter to the beginning of this work to keep it organized and allow the story to flow together.

Rambling aside, BH!Clip is gonna have some growth, and you, dear reader, are blissfully unconscious for the time being. This ended up being more of a family drama, but that's not without the focal point of the vigilante. Anyways, get to reading and enjoy!

On a scale of one to ten how resistant the family is to a MC giving them puppy dog eyes

Helena: She’s around an 8. Surprisingly susceptible to them because of how much of a softie she actually is for her children. Of course, depending on the situation, they wouldn’t work at all, but in general? That’s what she is around.

Saraya: She’s around a 3-4. A lot more durable than her wife (partially because she has also perfected the puppy dog eyes when it comes to Helena). Of course, she’s likely to give you whatever you want regardless, if you ask politely, but she’s not as susceptible to them as her wife.

Cienna: She’s around a -5. Cienna adores her baby sibling, but she’s not at all susceptible to puppy dog eyes. In fact, if you were to direct them at her, she’d simply smile (or smirk), pat your cheek gently, and say: “Go try that on someone it’ll actually work on, Beastie.”

Persephone: She’s around a 5-6. Truly just depends on the day for her when it comes to the power the puppy dog eyes have over her. She’s more likely to bend to them on most days, but then she’ll just smile softly at you and send you on your way other days. It’s just a toss up:

Christian: Just a big 10. Honestly you may not even have to do the puppy dog eyes before he’s bending to them. He’s just a big sweetheart that absolutely melts in the face of them and will instantly try to make your wishes come true (within reason, of course).

And I think there is a sense of the injustice that comes with mana amount determining what you can do and can't do. There is desperatation and anger in it, and though Rades and the Co. were villains in the arc, I think Tabs did an excellent job on making, and in this showing, that it's not all black and white.

The question, the insisting cry of "mana is supposed to be everything, right?!", when in fact it's not everything. I think that, to an extent, equating money with mana in BC is accurate, because money enables people to do a lot of things, it dictates status and is made to be an important, if not the most important thing in the world. As in, sure, money just like mana in BC are necessary in order to get through life (I'm oversimplifyong ofc), but they are not the most important things. It's not life, love or health in itself. It's not friendship or care.

Mana is a lot of things, but it's not life.

Yes! The Eye of the Midnight Sun members all have a large amount of mana, which according to so many of the nobles, is what’s supposed to make the nobles better than the lower classes in the first place. There are commoners who do get to move up the ranks because of their mana and skill, such as Jack, but the Eye of the Midnight Sun seems to be full of people who were punished for that instead. So many of them likely were attacked, isolated, banished, because the nobles were scared of them and their mana amounts possibly threatening the status quo, like what Patri says here:

Many of the humans before they joined the Eye of the Midnight Sun were probably just trying to get by, or maybe even trying to live a nice life like a noble if they could, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Like Rades said, magic is supposed to be everything, that’s what everyone’s been taught their whole life. Why shouldn’t a commoner or peasant be able to to have what nobles do if they have as much mana as the nobles? That’s what the humans in the Eye of the Midnight Sun believed, and asked, if that’s supposed the case, then don’t they deserve to be on top?

The Eye of the Midnight Sun points out this flaw in the reasoning behind the social hierarchy, but just as you said, it’s not that it’s flawed, it’s completely wrong. Mana is not everything, and as shown with characters like Zora, Magna, and Asta, it’s not an entirely accurate indicator of strength, skill, or worthiness. Yes, it does usually indicate status, and of course people want to be of high status to have an easier life, but even if a high mana amount might allow some lower class citizens to rise up in status, that does not necessarily guarantee happiness for them. They do not really need mana, nor recognition and status due to their mana amount in order to be happy.

Tragically, the Eye of the Midnight Sun members likely all had neither recognition, nor entirely if at all truly have these things you mentioned above: love, friendship, and/or care. Many if not all of them mistakenly equated power and recognition of their power, as well as revenge on those who failed to acknowledge them, with those things, or perhaps thought they could or were earning those things if they followed the Eye of the Midnight Sun’s ideals of power, recognition of power, and revenge.
