For those keeping score, here are Brandi Carlile’s SIX (in a row, mind you) Grammy performances
youtube
The Joke - Brandi Carlile
This performance punched her industry darling ticket. At this point she had a a ton of critical good will amassed, but finally had a mainstream cultural moment with this astounding performance.
youtube
Bring My Flowers Now - Tanya Tucker (feat. Brandi Carlile)
Something about Brandi and the love and care she takes for her musical influences and ensuring that the public remembers their greatness while they are still here to benefit
I Remember Everything - John Prine (covered by Brandi Carlile)
Something about him being the first person she ever played The Mother for, and also being her gateway into the greater Americana community.
youtube
Right on Time - Brandi Carlile
This performance f*cks.
youtube
Broken Horses - Brandi Carlile
It’s possible the whole album f*cks. (In These Silent Days is my favorite album of all time)
youtube
Both Sides Now - Joni Mitchell (feat. The Joni Jam)
I don’t know, smarter people have said it better. No end in sight how emotional this is, and the love and care that created an environment where it could be.

If Toe was really ended by late 2022, then that's why T decided to make the first move to say hi to H at the Grammy's 2023, even she touched his arm, some body language readers said that was a flirting touch, he also by accident touched her bare back and quickly (nervous too) tried to move his hand but it was too late because she moved apart to see his eyes. So in fact they were single even when Toe made their breakup official in April.
I love how TS is dancing then she looks over at him. You can see her contemplating in her head then she like “f*ck it I’m going” lol

The fact that Unreal Unearth did not get a SINGLE Grammy nod has solidified my belief that the Grammy's are total and complete bullshit. That album is sheer and utter brilliance, and when I see some of the mediocre shit that was nominated... it's all just a number$ and an industry insider game. It has nothing to do with talent.
F*ck you Grammys.

Did you know there was a 'National Levi Day?' It's on August 23rd. Which is also Lover Anniversary Day.
🤣🤣🤣
Don't ask why I looked up this information, but by my surprise. The Universe is funny as f*ck.
https://nationaltoday.com/national-levi-day/#:~:text=National%20Levi%20Day%20is%20celebrated,enjoyed%20popularity%20for%20many%20years.
yes! i mean, if we go on the hunt there are inevitably going to be things like this that show up but, heck 🙈
i don’t think i’ll ever be over how a song from folklore magically had the word levi’s in it.. or how she performed that song as part of a medley, mere minutes after we learned the name! i think part of me is still and will forever be in shock 😭 like i thought nothing would ever be able to top the shivers i got from the 2018 ama’s performance but damn was i ever knocked off my chair by the grammy performance. what are the chances… the world may never know 🤷🏻‍♀️
oh taylor, queen of suggesting to… levitate… above it all and to sit quietly, and then doing neither!!

Lay Bankz Radiates Boss B*tch Energy in "Good Look" Single
Tumblr media
Known for her danceable club tracks and infectious spirit, Lay Bankz can flat out spit when she wants to. The Philly-born 19-year-old shows off her emcee skills on "Good Look," her latest single. Weaving between detuned woodwinds and insstent percussion, Lay Bankz takes a moment to flex, methodically addressing the many reasons why she can't be messed with: "Can't nobody check me less it's coming with some commas/I'm a top 10, you ain't not, Iguodala/I'm a boss b*tch, raw b*tch without that condom/I got all this ass and I get it from my momma," stresses Lay Bankz. Luckily for her fans, the versatile artist promises good things to anyone wise enough to join her team: "F*ck with me, that's a good look." "Good Look" arrives after Lay turned the clock back with her R&B banger"Tell Ur Girlfriend" (3 million streams to date), the subject of a popular and infectious From The Block video.
"Good Look" and "Tell Ur Girlfriend" continue the momentum from Lay Bankz's breakout 2023, marked by several viral singles and an acclaimed debut EP. She kicked off the year with the frenetic club-rap anthem "Na Na Na," a viral smash that generated over 127k video creations on TikTok and over 41 million global streams. Lay tapped into the zeitgeist once again with her single "ICK!," a ferocious club-rap song about the moment sparks stop flying, which became one of the biggest viral hits of 2023, peaking at #8 on Billboard x TikTok's Viral Chart behind more than 1 million video creations, and generating over 81 million streams across platforms. Both "Na Na Na" and "ICK!" are highlights from Now You See Me, Lay's debut EP, which shows her range across 7 memorable tracks, and racked up over 127 million streams. To close out 2023, Lay released "Sloppy Seconds (Ick Pt. 2)," the equally-cheeky follow-up single to "ICK!," generating 14 million streams since its release in December.
Most recently, Lay Bankz made her first appearance at Rolling Loud, when she shut it down on the main stage during last week's Rolling Loud California 2024. Earlier this year, she was named one of Spotify's Most Necessary Artists To Watch for 2024, placed on Complex's list of Rappers To Watch in 2024 and YouTube's Fifty Deep Music Class of 2024, joined fellow club-influenced artist Skaiwater on "choosin u," and walked the Red Carpet at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
Lay Bankz is on a mission to bring Philly to the masses. Stay tuned for much more from the rapidly rising artist as the year continues.'

A message for Taylor, if she ever sees this. You are so loved and successful and respected, you’re a legend (and we know you know) and don’t need a beard or a “man” to be taken seriously by some industry people or to win any awards or Grammys. F*ck those people anyways. I know you know your worth, but we don’t want you to be anxious or afraid of dropping your beard and going back to your the concept of 1989 single girl era. I hope you know how much the world appreciates your art no matter what relationship status you’re in, cause you make music and art that is above any rumors, speculations or expectations. But also nonetheless, we know you will do what’s best and suitable for you. 💜

Release: August 9, 2011
Lyrics:
Hey ya'll
I came to talk about this girl that had my love, see
I went away for a while and
She gave my love away huh
I really shouldn't blame her
But now that p-ssy is a stranger
Baby, somethings on my mind I gotta say it
Yeah, Your p-ssy done changed
It ain't the same girl and thats a shame
(A crying shame baby)
Oooh, aint being funny
I know another bee's been in that honey
Ooh, baby, that p-ssy done changed
It's such a shame girl and thats a shame
(Who the hell you giving my loving to girl?)
Oooh Nooo
Tell me where that p-ssy gone
Oooh Nooo
Cause it don't feel the same no more
(I miss that p-ssy, that p-ssy, that p-ssy, that p-ssy)
Yeah
Oooh Nooo
(How you do me like that baby)
Oooh Nooo
Why is that happening to me
Oooh Nooo
She told me that it was my p-ssy
Oooh Nooo
Yeah yeah yeah yeh
She, she used to be a really special lady (my everything)
I guess she's feeling kinda freaky lately
It's such a shame cause now the p-ssy's changed
(That p-ssy changed)
She used to squeeze me (oooooooh
Grip me tight enough so she can please me
But nah nah, now that p-ssy changed
It's such a shame, that p-ssy changed
Oooh Nooo
Where did ya p-ssy go?
Oooh Nooo
Cause girl, I need to know
Oooh Nooo
You see, it was on some one of a kind sh-t
Oooh Nooo
I'ma about to kill this bitch
Oooh Nooo
She gave away all my sh-t
(I miss that p-ssy, that p-ssy, that p-ssy, that p-ssy)
Oooh Nooo
Yeah, yeah, yeh
I thought the p-ssy cat had 9 lives man?
Damn darling you changed it all
I'm your number fan belt they are not important
I don't use a cordless, microphone avoid em'
They don't feel real to me
Meaning real woman
Others built on me
You the primer on the lime bean green box When I couldn't afford a Ford
Clean socks scootin' across the floor in your grandmama house
Hand on your mouth
You yap too much about the penny-ante, this mechanics so uncanny
X-men, x-men, your ex boyfirend should thank me that I took you off his hands
No I can't bring another beach to the sand
And know I am well aware that you can bring a man to his knees
And get what you need without saying please
But can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat
And they put this man's Grammy's on the street?
What? Why so quiet?
Hate that all of our memories happened in a Hyatt
You were perfect before you went on a diet
You was way thicker, you think i don't remember
Shit, the magazine got to your head
Now somebody you don't even know got you in bed
Betcha buddy don't even know you don't like red
Or Was It Fuchsia, F-ck It, Our Future Is dead
Songwriter:
Oooh Nooo
Yeah yeah yeah
(I miss that p-ssy, that p-ssy, that p-ssy, that p-ssy)
Oooh Nooo
Ohhhhhh
Oooh Nooo
I'm about to kill this bitch
Oooh Nooo
She gave away all my shit
(I miss that p-ssy, that p-ssy, that p-ssy, that p-ssy)
Oh noooooo
Yeah, yeah, yeh
Ahahahaha
I miss ya girl

SongFacts:
"Dedication to My Ex (Miss That)" is a song by R&B musician Lloyd, released on August 9, 2011 as the third single from his fourth studio album King of Hearts (2011). Produced by Polow da Don and D. Smith of Zone 4 Productions, the song features a verse from Outkast's André 3000 and is "narrated" by Lloyd's frequent collaborator and fellow New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne. The brass was played by Siraaj Amnesia James. The song was edited for radio in the United Kingdom (among others) with the word "pussy" replaced with "lovin'." The single performed averagely domestically, but reached the top five in the UK, Australia and Ireland, and the top 10 in Denmark, the Netherlands and Austria. The song is Lloyd's biggest international hit to date.
The song's music video, directed by Bryan Barber, premiered on September 13, 2011 on 106 & Park. André 3000 and Lil Wayne do not appear in the video; Instead, Wayne Brady and a cat lip sync Wayne and Andre 3000's lyrics, respectively. The video featured Natalie La Rose as the female lead.

This post is as much about me pushing through Imposter Syndrome and the importance of Community as much as it is about celebrating the accomplishments of myself and my team - I Executive Produced, Wrote and even acted in my first, now festival nominated, short comedy film @iamagotdamncomedywriterThis is about my cool ass Wife and Son @kadenpaxtonarnold becoming the inspiration behind this project.
This post is about my mentee @_groovyscorsese  becoming my mentor and Director/Producer of this film and giving me master classes throughout this process. This is about my fellow FAMU Rattlers like my big sister/mentor @rashanalitelling me to “Drop That Imposter Syndrome Mentality, everyone is on set b/c of your vision” or  my brother @iamtaylorreed telling me “F*ck being humble, you know how talented you are, don’t diminish your talent and accomplishments,” to my wife reminding me, “I’ve been telling you what they both said since 2020” Lol.
This post is b/c my mentor/friend/award-winning writer @jameygiddens l told me all the good and/or great writers “write what they know,” so I did.
This post is about my co-star @bognerbill telling me “we’re not going to cut corners,” and whatever money is needed he and I will put up and/or raise. I put up half of the budget, William dropped a bag too and then I raised the rest. That’s community right there!
This is about my friend, grammy nominated producer @yaboychizzy scoring this film and my C/O 1995 @famu_1887 brother and seasoned actor @rogerpayno who, 30 days out from me filming,  poured into me so much that I rewrote a whole scene based off his insight.
To the rest of the team (i.e., investors, other EPs @thoroartists) DP @nadirbaaset.film and Producer/AD @carriemaychina…you both, by far, outperformed your fee. Next time the budget will be even bigger.
This post is about recognizing God’s plan for you…it takes courage to follow because it’s greater than anything you can imagine. Well God, thank you for allowing me to NOT fall short of my potential. And to my wife: tks for telling me that I could do this from the start. Those words remain so powerful, especially when it comes from my best friend-you.
