Raghuvan, Teri raah nihaare
s/n @vijayasena the only reason why I'm still posting
Chapter 8
The moon was beautiful. It shined through the branches of banyan tree of the area, slit by the leaves and its shine falling around, shadow of the leaves casting dark night on the road. The cats hid in the crevices of the streets, or roamed freely like they reigned the city. They looked over their shoulder suddenly, eerie of the clang noise.
Adikavya was sure not to make any noise, but it was hard to drag a man in his full youth and on top of that, unconscious. The door of faraway, cast out storage room was weak and shut with a sound she was irritated of. Although, the storage room had enough space to hold both Adikavya and Ram. She sat him down on a solid iron box, supported against the wall with a falling plaster. The smaller stool made out of jute strings and straws was not far away from her access. Adikavya grabbed it, sat down and heaved a sigh. "Why did I do this" she muttered to herself, grabbing her head in her hands. It was not more than 1 am, and her whole family was hopefully in a deep slumber. If someone caught her with this man, she would be in an unavoidable trouble.
The only escape from this mess would be going to Ram's house and calling Babai. Why shall she be worried about a man who is not related to her? The cool night resulted in goosebumps on her skin, as she looked at Ram. Open shirt, sweat on forehead, hems of his trousers were lathered with dust and splashes of mud. His beard looked overgrown and his hair stuck to his forehead. Ram looked like a mess. Adikavya shook her head and got up.
The 15 min walk to Ram's house turned in a 8 min speed walk. The shawl covered her face, head, shoulder and arms, even her mother wouldn't be able to recognise her. Adikavya cursed herself as she walked there, multiple thoughts jumping in her mind. What if she can't get help there? What if someone from her family sees? As the questions arose, so did the speed of her steps. As she turned around on the curve, Ram's house street was visible. She looked up, trying to find any conscious being in the house.
What she didn't expect was a woman standing there. A quick, silent chant of Hanuman chalisa stabilised itself in her mind. Adikavya stood there frozen. The woman might have sensed the presence, turning around. Her face looked familiar but not recognisable. The woman smiled, "kaisi ho, adi?" How are you adi?
_____________________________________
Jangu came soon, rubbing his eyes. "Itni raat mein kyu bulaya?" Why did you call me so late at night? Adikavya sighed, telling him that Ram is in her store room, and he should quickly go and get Ram. Jangu stared at Adikavya and nodded, running away on the street.
"You should marry him" Sita whispered. "Don't tell me what to do" Adikavya retorted back. "Jangu has gone to fetch Ram, then why are you here? Ram would have been brought home in the morning anyways when everyone would see him, then why did you bother?" Sita came closer to Adikavya. "Kindness" Adikavya whispered to herself. Sita turned Adikavya around. "it's not kindness. Even if you don't like him, you know marrying him will be your only option to escape from your home" Adikavya looked alarmed. Sita continued, "you've wanted to escape your home forever. This is your only chance. Do you really think your family will let you study if you don't let them get you married? They will only send you in a place worse than this then." Before sita could continue, Adikavya looked up.
"What should I do about the fact that he slept with you? And that he was caught being a stud? Wouldn't that harm my family's reputation? And the fact that once he gains consciousness, the first person he will run to is you? And that Mahal of yours?" Adikavya asked.
Sita quiet down. "Why are you here, Sita?" Adikavya's question poked sita. "Ram, I have asked Ram to never step in sita Mahal again. I was here to talk to Babai, to let you and Ram get married. And tell me, which man hasn't slept with me? It doesn't matter, Adi, because no one will point fingers too long at him. He's a man, educated one. Do you really think anyone would be fazed for long?" Adikavya looked away. She was running out of reasons now.
"You getting education will be considered more of a heinous act than him sleeping with a whore" Sita said that as a matter of fact.
Adikavya huffed. Sita was right. Her family is not so open to let her complete her masters. It's a surprise they still are letting her study. "Akhtar came yesterday" Adikavya's immediate reaction startled Sita too. "What?" She was in absolute disbelief. Akhtar in a brothel? How is that possible? "No, just to meet me. But I asked him to leave. Tell him to never come again. You should be more cautious about your surroundings, Adi"
They spotted Jangu, dragging Ram. Sita pulled her shawl closer to her body. "I don't need a life lesson from someone who sells her body" Adikavya muttered. "At least I earn for myself" Sita replied and left before she could even see Ram clearly.

actually, two of my friends gushed about iland, but i was never into survival shows so i just listened to them and hyped them up but never focused on it. then i saw that sunghoon was debuting as an idol— i knew him since he was a figure skater, but that still didn't convince me to check them out lmfao TT but i came across fever one day and i'm telling you, i listened to it for weeks straight before even bothering to check the group out hehe ( _ _; ) even though i haven't watched iland, i've seen clips and that gave me an idea of how the show was

Amitabh Bachchan nearly died while shooting Coolie and Jaya arrived to find Hanuman Chalisa in a coma.

Amitabh Bachchan: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is currently on bed rest on doctor's advice. In fact, Amitabh Bachchan suffered a rib injury while filming 'Project K' a few days ago, and was immediately admitted to the hospital, where doctors advised him to rest after bandaging his ribs. This is not the first time Amitabh Bachchan has been injured while filming a movie. In fact, 40 years ago, Amitabh Bachchan was seriously injured while filming the movie 'Coolie' in Bangalore. During this time the issue became about his life and death. Amitabh had a horrific accident in the movie Coolie. The whole story takes place on July 26, 1982, when Amitabh Bachchan was filming for the movie Coolie in Bangalore. During this action scene, Puneet Issar had to punch Amitabh Bachchan in the face and Amitabh Bachchan fell off the table. During this process, the production team suggested filming a body double, but Amitabhachan didn't agree and said he wanted to do it himself. Afterwards, through light, camera, and action, as soon as the scene started, Amitabhachan's condition deteriorated. Deep wound to the stomach during filming Actually, this scene was filmed well at this time. Everyone clapped, but after a while Amitabh Bachchan's stomach started to hurt. During this time, Amitabh saw no bleeding and ignored the injury, applied ointment and went back to the hotel. When the pain did not stop after a long time, he called the doctor over there. After that, doctors gave him painkillers. When the pain did not subside the next day, Amitabh Bachchan went to the doctor and had all the tests done according to the doctor's advice, but even these tests did not come up with any report. On day 3, when the doctor was checking the x-ray properly, gas appeared under the diaphragm. In response, doctors said it could come from his broken intestine. Amitabh Bachchan's condition continued to deteriorate and the doctor advised him to undergo surgery immediately as the injection had no effect on Big B's body. Amitabha Buddha's heart was beating at a rate of 180. Amitabh Bachchan's fever continued to increase and he continued to vomit. His heart was beating at 180 per minute instead of 72. Under those circumstances, his condition deteriorated so much that he fell into a coma. After that, doctors immediately operated on him. The day after surgery, Big B developed pneumonia and his condition continued to deteriorate. After that he was sent to Mumbai. Amitabh Bachchan underwent an eight-hour operation at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. During this process, Jaya Bachchan arrived at the hospital with Hanuman Chalisa and continued to wish him recovery and success of the operation. News of Amitabh's condition spread across the country and his fans constantly raised their hands and prayed for him. In the end, the doctor's hard work paid off after 8 hours, and with the blessings of the fans and the grace of God, Amitabhachan returned home fully recovered. After Raksha Bandhan (or well, maybe before it - I don't know the exact release dates of the movies), another Akshay Kumar movie that decides to kill off the best character (though, in this case, maybe tied for best - Dr. Gabrielle and AP are both pretty cool).
So, so much infuriating stuff that takes an interesting-ish story and some cool characters (along with a whole bunch of shitty ones) and makes it painfully frustrating to watch.
Infuriating, #1: Akshay's character. He's so steadfastly "we need evidence"-mindset that it ruins his life, ruins the life of his wife/kid, and gets Dr. Gabrielle killed. And yet, he keeps at it. To a fault. From the start. I mean, even after the first combined-issue of his face and his kid, you'd think he would learn. But he doesn't. He forces them all to go with him, and it costs her her life - even as she, repeatedly, argued it wasn't necessary. He also fucking gets AP killed ... and then saves the bad guy!
Infuriating, #2: Akshay's character, again. He knows the bad guy is trying to kill him, and knows they might be considered as dead. So when he comes across them on the boat - he just stays in full view for the bad guys to actually see them all. Like, fucking hide you moron! We already hate you for being heartless and stupid and stupidly atheistic (like, there's a difference between being atheistic and essentially calling the entire religious history of your country a lie), and now this. ... And then, again, a bit later. Now we're also mad at him for getting Gabrielle killed (unrelated, why is it Dr. Gabrielle and not Dr. 'last name'?), and we have to sit and watch as we see someone looking for him and, instead of hiding or something, he just stares until the people can recognize him and start chasing. Like, what the hell dude?
Infuriating, #3: I know this is Bollywood, but what the hell was that song - both the actual song and the purpose of it in the plot. Such a mess. And a pointless song and time-waster, no less.
Infuriating, #4: Nushrratt Bharuccha's way-too-small role. And then the fact that he gets mad at her for knowing where he might be going because she cares about what he does and tries to pay attention. Ass. And, semi-related to this infuriating point: the guy is standing in a helicopter talking to them from mid-flight, and they hear everything he's saying?! That's not how this works. ... In fact, this entire fucking helicopter scene destroys the whole fucking movie. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS NONSENSE?! Utter fucking bullshit.
Infuriating, #5: They also kill the other character in running for "best character in the movie." (Another reason to absolutely hate that helicopter scene as the worst thing Bollywood has ever given us.) Poor AP. He deserved better. Hell, everyone associated with Akshay's character here deserved better. What a disaster of a person.
Infuriating, #6: The girls screaming "run fast" as he tries to get away from an about-to-explode helicopter. So, so annoying.
When this turns into a preachy courtroom drama, the infuriating things actually sorta stop because - as infuriating as some of it is, such as the other lawyer, and his preaching - it's so much better than everything we've seen up to this point (including the two horribly unnecessary deaths of the cool characters).
This movie tries to make vague hints to the Ramayan, but it really fails at the 'vague' bit of it: it's like hitting you in the face with a hammer. Him lifting the rock and walking on the bridge; AP being like Hanuman, further driven home by the playing of the Hanuman Chalisa when the realization hits him - it's a very, very painful hammer.
The deaths of Dr. Gabrielle and AP, though, absolutely crush. Especially Dr. Gabrielle, because you know she was right all along. And because she didn't deserve it at all - she'd been arguing against his pointless "we need more" nonsense the whole time - and it cost her her life while he got to continue on and put more people's lives at risk, repeatedly.

The Best Way To Make Ethnic Pieces of jewelry With Wholesale Charms
One of the best things about using wholesale charms to make custom-made jewelry is the fact you may make so many different variations and kinds of jewellery with the pieces that exist. One of the more preferred designs du jour is 'ethnic' pieces of jewelry. It really is very easy to design your very own ethnic pieces using wholesale charms which you can pick up from trustworthy jewellery supplies retailers.
Why would you use charms for 'ethnic' jewellery?
Charms remain really popular in many areas of the world, and a lot of individuals these places think that the charms which they wear brings them good luck, good fortune or luck in their love life. Several charms have got different meanings to various folks. In case you don't have faith in the powers that these lucky charms claim to have, using them to make identical jewellery pieces can be very evocative of the location that you will be looking to emulate. The way that you utilize the charms can display social awareness, and also regard for different locations of the world.
Tumblr media
From multi-strand long statement necklaces to intricately embellished chokers and heavy layered necklaces, these necklaces translate the tribal in more ways than one. Rooted in ancient culture, the tribal necklaces are replete with taveez, peacock, elephant, snake, heart and floral patterns. Some of our tribal necklaces even have Ganesha motifs. In addition to our in-house collection of tribal necklaces, we have some of the trendiest offbeat tribal necklaces in collaboration with Masaba Gupta. Hanuman Chalisa Locket.
Exactly why make your individual jewellery?
A lot of the 'ethnic' jewellery which can be available in the retailers does not actually come from the area that it claims to symbolize, nonetheless it still costs just as much as it would do in case the jewellery had been flown to you from the other part of the world. Why shell out lots of money on purchasing a piece that you just only partially like, when you could make some pieces of jewelry for yourself that you really love completely, but which will only amount to the same amount that the specific components cost? Of course, if you have an opportunity to purchase actual pieces of ethnic jewellery straight from the source, this will be a great idea, because it can help to promote the local overall economy of the place and support the jewellery producer and their family members. In these circumstances, acquiring authentic pieces of jewellery can also be a very good source of inspiration for you.
From time to time, our designers and craftsmen are coming out with stylish modern-style earrings through different jewellery collections. We even keep having collaborations with known brands across the fashion spectrum, so rest assured our jewellery is always abreast of the ongoing trends. It would be a great idea to follow our newsletter updates or Instagram handle to stay in touch with the new and upcoming jewellery launches. Browse through our website and you’ll surely find fashionable contemporary earrings as per your taste, preference and budget. Tribal Jewelry India.
Tumblr media
What things to choose for your 'ethnic' jewellery items
The wholesale charms which you decide for your ethnic jewellery will very much depend on the countries that you aim to evoke. For example, many of the charms which tend to be well-known in Asia are usually relatively unknown in other areas. If you need to evoke Asia, you may wholesale charms which depict elephants or Hindu signs. As well as choosing suitable charms, you need to then choose the right beads and jewellery fastenings to complement your choices. Earthy-coloured wooden beads might be evocative of Africa, while deep, rich reds, blues and purples, teamed with silver as well as bronzes are reminiscent of south-east Asia plus India. Of course, part of the appeal of being about to create your individual jewellery originates from the fact that you simply do not need to be bound by any constraints. This means that you can always make use of the charms that you have to create a 'fusion' piece which integrates various designs together into one incredible new style.

The trimurti in Hinduism is sometimes referred to by HIndus as the trinity of the Hindus. But the trimurti also becomes a quaternity in Hinduism. I have seen different examples for the transcendent fourth. I have read a book that described that the trimurti was a quaternity when the Mother Goddess was added. Another example is, those who worship Surya, the Sun God, see Surya as the transcendent fourth part of the trimurti. For the Surya worshippers, Surya encompasses the previous three deities in the trimurti. They say that the other three Gods are manifestations of Surya
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trimurti
The Quaternity for Surya worshippers in relation to the Hindu trimurti
Surya is Brahma in the morning
Surya is Shiva in the evening
Surya is Vishnu in the afternoon

According to the Upanishads the self has 16 parts.
“Lastly, Sukesa approached the sage and said: ‘Holy sir, Hiranyanabha, prince of Kosala, once asked me this question: ““Sukesa, do you know the Self and his sixteen parts?”” I replied, ““I do not. Surely, if I had known them, I should have taught them to you. I will not lie, for he who lies perishes, root and all.”” The prince silently mounted his chariot and went away. So now I ask of thee, Where is the Self?’” (Prashna Upanishad 6:1).

tat tvam asi - "Thou art That" (Chandogya Upanishad 6.8.7 of the Sama Veda)
ayam ātmā brahma - "This Self (Atman) is Brahman" (Mandukya Upanishad 1.2 of the Atharva Veda)
aham brahmāsmi - "I am Brahman", or "I am Divine"[7](Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10 of the Yajur Veda)

According to many Hindus, like the Hare Krishna, Krishna originally had two quadruple expansions. According to these Hindus, Krishna is the supreme God. The two quadruple expansions are similar to the gnostic notion that in the beginning was two tetrads.
https://www.facebook.com/Knowyourgod/posts/501900056583733:0
First quadruple expansion
Karanadakashayi Vishnu [Maha-Vishnu]
Kshirodakashayi Vishnu [the Supersoul in each individual]
Garbhodakashayi Vishnu [the expansion in each universe]
Sesha, also called Seshanaga
These four create the material cosmic manifestation.
Krishna then expands himself into four forms. These four forms experience pastimes in Vrindavan. When studying Hare Krishna I would watch cartoons on the pastimes of Krishna. The cartoons consisted of these four characters, who are four forms of Krishna.

Balarama

The hotṛ was the reciter of invocations and litanies. These could consist of single verses (ṛca), strophes (triples called tṛca or pairs called pragātha), or entire hymns (sukta), drawn from the ṛgveda. As each phase of the ritual required an invocation, the hotṛ had a leading or presiding role.[citation needed]
The udgātṛ was a chanter of hymns set to melodies (sāman) drawn from the sāmaveda. This was a specialized role in the major soma sacrifices: a characteristic function of the udgātṛ was to sing hymns in praise of the invigorating properties of soma pavamāna, the freshly pressed juice of the soma plant.[citation needed]
The adhvaryu was in charge of the physical details of the sacrifice (in particular the adhvara, a term for the Somayajna). According to Monier-Williams, the adhvaryu "had to measure the ground, to build the altar, to prepare the sacrificial vessels, to fetch wood and water, to light the fire, to bring the animal and immolate it," among other duties.[citation needed] Each action was accompanied by supplicative or benedictive formulas (yajus), drawn from the yajurveda. Over time, the role of the adhvaryugrew in importance, and many verses of the ṛgveda were incorporated, either intact or adapted, into the texts of the yajurveda.[citation needed]
The brahman was the reciter of hymns from the atharvaveda who was largely silent and observes the procedures and uses Atharvaveda mantras to 'heal' it when mistakes have been made.
With the hotṛ:
the maitrāvaruna
the acchāvāka
the grāvastut (praising the Soma stones)
With the udgātṛ:
the prastotṛ (who chants the Prastâva)
the pratihartṛ ("averter")
the subrahmanya
With the adhvaryu:
the pratiprasthātṛ
the neṣṭṛ
the unnetṛ (who pours the Soma juice into the receptacles )
With the brahman:
the brāhmanācchamsin
the agnīdh (priest who kindles the sacred fire)
the potṛ ("purifier")
The Hindus have a four caste system
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caste_system_in_India
Brahmins (priestly people)- mental. The first square is mental and good.
Vaishyas (artisans, merchants, tradesmen and farmers)- These are the doers.
Kshatriyas (also called Rajanyas, who were rulers, administrators and warriors). Homeostasis. The second square maintains order and structure. Rulers and administrators organize and order. Warriors protect.
Shudras (labouring classes).
The fourth caste was seen as different
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/twice-born
The three upper orders were “distinguished from the shudras”.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvija
The Brahmins, the Kshatriyas, and the Vishyas are considered “twice born” but the shudras are not.
http://eighttwosix.blogspot.com/2010/03/indias-caste-system-socially-useful.html
Again the quadrant pattern in the caste system is fulfilled in that the first three castes are different from the fourth. Hindus say that they have a four caste system. There is a fifth element that is so different that it is not even really considered a caste. The fifth is always questionable and ultra transcendent. I described how Empedocles said that fire is the fourth different element. But fire still associates with air, water and Earth. The fifth, ultra transcendent element, aether, does not even interact with the first four. It is not even connected. The same holds true for the untouchables.
Ramakrishna had a teaching about four wise men and an elephant. The four wise men touched different parts of the elephant, and thought the elephant was the aspect they touched. Ramakrishna says that religion is like the elephant, and different religions understand a different part of the whole
One touched the leg of the elephant, and said, "The elephant is like a pillar."
The third touched the belly, and said, "The elephant is like a big jar."
The second touched the trunk, and said, "The elephant is like a thick stick or club."
The fourth touched the ears, and said, "The elephant is like a winnowing basket."

The four petals are said to represent the four elements. The four petals are also thought to represent the four vrittis

natural pleasure
blissfulness in concentration
The four petals are also thought to represent the four goals of a Hindu, dharma (psycho-spiritual longing), artha (psychic longing), kama (physical longing) and moksha (longing for spiritual liberation.

The stanzas in an "ashtakam" are a rhyming quartet with four lines, i.e. end lines rhyme as a-a-a-a. Thus, in an ashtakam generally thirty-two lines are maintained. All these stanzas follow a strict rhyme scheme. The proper rhyme scheme for an astakam is: a-a-a-a/b-b-b-b….. (/ represents a new stanza).
The conventions associated with the ashtakam have evolved over its literary history of more than 2500 years. One of the best known ashtakam writers was Adi Sankaracharya, who created an ashtakam cycle with a group of ashtakams, arranged to address a particular deity, and designed to be read both as a collection of fully realized individual poems and as a single poetic work comprising all the individual ashtakams. He wrote more than thirty astakams in stuti [dedication] to various deities.

King Vajra then had 16 idols of Krishna and other gods carved from a rare, imperishable stone called Braja and built temples to house these idols in and around Mathura so as to feel the presence of Lord Krishna. The four presiding idols of Braja Mandala are Sri Harideva of Govardhan, Sri Keshava Deva of Mathura, Sri Baladeva of Baladeo, and Govindaji of Vrindavan. There are two Naths—Sri Nathji, who were originally at Govardhan and are now in Nathdwara, Rajasthan and Sri Gopinath, who is now in Jaipur. The two Gopals are Sri Madana Mohan, who is now housed at Karoli Rajasthan, and Sakshi Gopal, who is now moved to town of Sakshi Gopal, Orissa, near Puri. There are 16 squares in the quadrant model.
The show Information Please would have a transcendent fourth guest panelist.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Please
Panel regulars included writer-actor-pianist Oscar Levant and newspaper columnists and renowned wits and intellectuals Franklin P. Adams and John Kieran. All the panelists were well-versed in a wide range of topics, though each had a specialty. Music and filmquestions were often addressed to Levant. Adams was well known for his mastery of poetry, popular culture and Gilbert and Sullivan. Kieran was an expert in natural history, sports and literature. A typical question would have three or four parts and would require the panelists to get a majority of the questions right, lest they lose the prize money.
The show would always have a fourth guest panelist, usually either a celebrity, a politician or writer. Guest panelists included Fred Allen, Leonard Bernstein, Boris Karloff, Clare Boothe Luce, Dorothy Parker, S. J. Perelman, Sigmund Spaeth, Rex Stout, Jan Struther, Deems Taylor, Jackie Robinson, Alexander Woollcott, George S. Kaufman, Ruth Gordon, Orson Welles, Basil Rathboneand a very young Myron "Mike" Wallace.
A variation of Information Please, this time a program devoted exclusively to music with the same four-member panel format, became popular when it was televised in Los Angeles in 1953. After two years of local success, Musical Chairs became a summer replacement series on NBC Television. The Bill Leyden-hosted game show lasted eleven weeks on the national airwaves.

To relive the blocked energies, centre of existence need to be balanced for well-being and better life. Our living place consists of five elements. Space which is the most important of all the five elements.
Air is governing element of North-west corner while fire is assigned the South-east because of its aggressive nature. Water is an element of North-east and earth is assigned with South-west. Likewise the human body is a crafted frame having an order of five elements called chakras which is balanced by external elements. The elements of living place need to be balanced akin we balance body’s elements with external material such as food and meditation.
Vastu Energy Balance Imbalance of elements can be corrected by the most subtle & higher element- space while defects in native place can be balanced or rectified using Vastu tools like wind chimes, energy pyramid and crystals. These Vastu tools helps rectifying negative energies and try subtle the ambience with positive prana. Body prana can be instilled by correcting chakras that are responsible for our day to day functions. In such way external prana of cosmos or dwelling place have to make lively by creating balance with energy elements of Vastu.

A mandala (Sanskrit: मण्डल, literally "circle") is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe.[1] In common use, "mandala" has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.
The basic form of most mandalas is a square with four gates containing a circle with a center point. Each gate is in the general shape of a T. Mandalas often exhibit radial balance.

Things I learned while re-watching Star Plus Mahabharata (Part 16/many):
1) As ever with Duryodhan, I cannot disagree with anything he says.
2) Oh god. This scene. Panchali’s curse. Her walking away as Arjun looks on. Gold.
3) Not sure I like this new version of Krishna seekh.
4) Also we have not seen Krishna fight once in this battle of Dwarka vs the King of Shalva.
5) I also don’t like crying Krishna. Not saying he can’t. But I can’t take him seriously when he cries. I need him to be infinitely more chill than SRJ is being right now.
6) Ah, Arjun swearing at the Kurus. A+ 10/10.
7) Oh my fucking god, Subhadra’s opening line to Arjun: how could you let this happen? I expect nothing less from her.
8) Madhav is back now, after chilling in his war. He’s still in a self-driven chariot.
9) Wow, he’s so pissed at the Pandavas and rightfully so.
10) Draupadi telling Krishna that she’s become impure. And anyone who comes near her would also become impure. No. NO. Every woman in the world knows this feeling.
11) Okay, first of all, Krishna, you moonlighting feminist, the first thing you should tell Draupadi is that she has not become malin because of what Duryodhana and Dushasan did. This is on them, not on her. I cannot but compare StarBharat with BR Chopra Mahabharat, the comparisons come very easily to me. And the truth is, they just did some things better.
12) Draupadi’s now fallen at his feet. Krishna is just like, Lord give me strength.
13) This scene is important because I feel like for once Krishna is putting his grand plans on hold for one second to give Draupadi back her peace of mind. Because first and foremost, the Lord is kind to those who follow him.
14) It’s so nice that StarBharat has shown this sort of sisterly solidarity between Draupadi and Subhadra, which is so important.
15) Draupadi is not even remotely impressed by Yudhishthira’s theatrics.
16) Draupadi’s pratigya makes her sound like Bhishma. Intentional or unintentional.
17) I cannot imagine Subhadra watching idly by as the Pandavas and Draupadi walk to the forest. I’m sure she put up a fight against her brothers to be allowed to go.
18) Speaking of, where is Balaram in all of this? His cousins are heading for vanvas and he is still chilling in Dwarka? Unrealistic.
19) Oh nice, Abhimanyu hasn’t even been born yet but somehow Krishna has managed to name him.
20) That scene where Arjun stops Subhadra from touching his feet. Some of StarBharat’s dialogueless scenes are just as touching.
21) Krishna’s glare as Shakuni enters the Indraprastha palace lmaoo.
22) A well executed scene but the watering hole scene happens only towards the end of the 12-year vanvas period.
23) This is hilarious. Yudhishthira is basically like Krishna is going to whoop my ass if I let something else happen to Panchali.
24) Oh god. Everyone loves Arjun the most. But I think Yudhishthira loves Bhim the most.
25) It’s time for Yudhishthira to meet his bio daddy!
26) Arjun doing tapasya for Shiv is my jam.
27) Bhim is such a cutie.
28) This Hanuman story is different though, right? Something to do with some lotus for Draupadi.
29) Is Hanuman a Yadav? He wears the same tilak. Or is this some Ram/Krishna connection we don’t quite know about.
30) I love Hanuman’s character! He’s so playful. And also the Hanuman Chalisa in the background score.
31) Oh so Hanuman knows that Krishna is Ram/Vishnu avatar and says he will chill on the chariot that’s being manned by God.
32) Oh no they never told us about the magic bowl Draupadi had that was gifted to her by Surya Dev which gave them unlimited food.
33) Also, do the Pandavas and Karna ever realise that they are all ‘gifts’ of Durvasa.
34) Krishna creeping in the background like some mega creep 😂
35) This is a conversation for another time but some day we need to talk about the incessant whitewashing of our gods such as Ram and Krishna in modern mythological serials. Also of Draupadi/Dhrishtadyumna/Arjun—basically anyone who’s described in canon as dark. There is some modern fetish for fair-skinned gods that just doesn’t sit right. I miss the dark-skinned Aruns and Nitishs.
36) Durvasa is still not impressed by Krishna. This man is literally god.
37) Arjun is fishing.
38) Oh nice, Indra is also here. Old gods and new.
39) Not sure whether I like this Shiv. Shiv in general I love.
40) Aaaand Jayadrath is here. Can’t wait for this guy to die in tomorrow’s BR Chopra Mahabharat episode.
41) Duryodhan low key throwing shade at Jayadrath is my jam.
42) Really, what does Dushala see in this man?
43) Kaun ho tum? Really? Draupadi doesn’t know her own brother-in-law? That seems highly unlikely.
44) Why is Arjun wasting time with all this trash talk?
45) Arjun is having a lot of second thoughts about keeping Jayadrath alive for Dushala’s sake but this is going to change very quickly during the war. Also Nakul rightfully points out that this man will give grief to Arjun later on.
46) This is by far the worst and most inaccurate map of Aryavarta to ever exist.
47) Oh no Jayadrath’s hair makeup is so not on point at this moment.
48) Mamashri Shakuni is literally fortune telling at this point and this is my jam.
49) So it’s canon that both Shakuni and Krishna are Slytherins, right? Yet they are the two most diametrically opposite Slytherins we have ever seen.
50) Also I want to see Dushala but these shows never give me what I want. When I make the Mahabharata I will make sure the women get equal and opposite screen time and character development as the men.
51) Yudhishthira is getting on my nerves.
52) This Draupadi is infinitely nicer than BR Chopra Mahabharat’s Roopa Ganguli who used to give it to her husbands every opportunity she got.
53) I also have lots of complaints. They didn’t show Dhrishtadyumna taking Draupadi’s sons home to Panchal to raise them.
54) They didn’t show Arjun chilling with his bio dad in heaven! They didn’t show Urvashi hitting on him and him rejecting her advances! Then she curses him, causing him to lose his manhood. And then she reverses the curse after Indra begs her and she limits it to lost manhood for one year of his choosing. That’s how Arjun uses the Brihannala guise for a year during agyaatvaas!
55) Shakuni training himself to think like Krishna. Looool.
56) Nakul bullying children is my jam.
57) Clearly this sattoo ke laddoo business is some sort of secret code amongst the Pandavas.
58) At least Uttar and Uttara are aptly shown as young teenagers.
59) My fav is back! Brihannala! 😍
60) Also what is this face covering nonsense by Sairindhri?! Women in the Later Vedic Age did not cover their faces or their heads behind purdah!!!
61) The Pandavas meeting together after a long time is giving me hope! This is what it’s going to be like when lockdown is over and I meet my friends 😭😭😭
62) This Keechak guy looks evil but I can’t take him seriously because his voice makes him sound like a prepubescent boy.
63) What is this casual classism from Keechak? Like Jesus, what a dirtbag.
64) Again there was no ghunghat back in those days?!?!
65) But iss Keechak ne toh consent ki maa behen kar di.
66) How happy the Pandavas are to see Panchali! Arjun the most, perhaps 😍
67) Virat making a dig at Dushasan. I’m here for this tea.
68) I can’t take Keechak seriously because of his voice.
69) This logic whereby if Draupadi has five husbands so she can have one more—like I will never understand this! She consented to five and no more???
70) Brihannala, my one true fav, is back!
71) Keechak vadh is my favourite episode, behind Shishupal vadh and Jayadrath vadh. Do you see the pattern?
72) Why is Draupadi here? I wanted to see Bhim’s giant form hidden as a lump under a blanket, enticing Keechak.
73) Bhim is here! 😍 Seriously, no one loves Panchali as much as Bhim does. Arjun toh is smitten by our Yadav homegirl.
74) Now Arjun is going to do his tandav dance. This should distract the others from the noise nicely.
75) Oh nice. Nakul and Sahadev are also participating.
76) Predictably, Jyesth Bhrata, Yudhishthira, is not invited to this Keechak vadh party.
77) King Virat is like oh no what a loss.
78) Yudhishthira looks pissed, as always, when his brothers have done something good.
79) Haha. Duryodhan has caught on to the fact that Bhishma is trying desperately to stall so that the Pandavas are not found out.
81) Now Duryodhan is now accusing Vidur of partiality. Again, he is not wrong. I’m so impressed by how well his character has been written. Not one word he says is incorrect.
82) Nice. Duryodhan has his father wrapped around his little finger. He knows exactly how to manipulate him so that Dhritarashtra rises to the bait.
83) After all these centuries Bhishma realises that Shakuni is after the destruction of Hastinapur.
84) Shakuni is admitting now that all of this is revenge for Gandhari. Oh man. Do you think Bhishma knew that the Mahabharat was the result of his poorly executed actions (intentional or otherwise)?
85) King Virat is so smart. I like him. I’m going to be so sad when he dies.
86) Brihannala is going to stay behind. Great. It’s so interesting to see this story in retrospect (which is how it’s told to Janamajeya and Vajra) in the first place.
87) I like Virat with open hair.
88) What the hell is this? I cannot be attracted to Pitamaha Bhishma and Mama Shakuni with their open hair and battle armour?! Adharm!
89) Oh what a cool sundial!
90) I’m glad they showed Uttar as nothing more than a teenager.
91) Mama Shakuni is so fit.
92) Do you think Bhishma recognises Arjun as Uttar’s chariot?
93) Poor Uttar is probably shitting his pants.
94) Arjun praying to Agni Dev to return his Gandiv. Old gods to the rescue.
95) This background score! It’s my absolute favourite! Parthasya Dhananjaya! My fav song on my fav, Arjun 😍
96) Bhishma looks thoroughly pleased. He recognises the sound of the Gandiv’s twang.
97) Now they will fight about the authenticity of the calendar. They should go to a calendar expert.
98) Bhishma looks proper chuffed at Arjun. How on earth will they fight against each other in the Great War?
99) Oh man, Karna is here. Ugh.
100) Karna is here to trash talk as per usual. Oh god both these men are useless. Fight no instead of talking so much.
101) Oh man, the charioteer’s son has been thrown from his chariot but not before taking a shot at Arjun.
102) Ah Karna’s divine armour makes an appearance!
103) Oh shit, this just got real! They’re calling on divine weapons!
104) Bhishma steps in. Of course.
105) Duryodhan’s hah! 😂😂
106) Arjun crying that if he is responsible for Bhishma’s death, it will be hell on earth for him. Oh, Arjun. You must still suffer, a lot.
107) Arjun’s threat, that all the Pandavas will come to avenge Draupadi’s insult. Yes. 100%. I hope in this yug even if men are not punished for their crimes against women on earth, they will suffer forever in hell for their misdeeds.
108) The Pandavas and Draupadi are ready. It’s time for the Great War. It’s time for Mahabharat.

~Challenge 6~ Milana : Fandom
Spotify song rec list for a Baahubali fan :
1. If you liked Kanna Nidurinchara, you might also like
—Mukundha Mukundha (Tamil // Telugu ) : I.e the OG Krishna song we’d all dance to on Janmashtamis. Perhaps it was the way they’re written or sung or just the vibe but Kanna had reminded me so much of this the first few times I’d listened to it.
—Swagatham Krishna : (Telugu) You wouldn’t think it’s from a Pavan Kalyan’s film. This is such a beautiful song, you need it on your playlist. I love how the lyrics go past the language barrier.
—Ghar More Pardesiya : C’mon, women getting together, singing and dancing on a festival, also slyly drawing parallels bw their (soon to be) lovers and their fav god they’re singing about??? (Someone gif this)
— Sooha Saaha : The vibe is entirely different but it is a lullaby which is what Kanna Nidurinchara is supposed to be I think???
— Albela Sajan : Fun, festive, high energy.
—O My Lovely Lalana : (Telugu) The girl in this song complaints about how Krishna is always helping her with life but refuses to show himself despite her pleading but turns out Krishna had been with her this whole time, only disguised as her lover. Idk I thought this went well with the whole pretend part of AmarSena’s relationship.
—Kanha : Like Kanna Nidurinchara, this song too, talks about the male lead from the female’s perspective in context to their own situation/relationship.
(Honestly, there are so many Krishna songs that I can make a separate playlist just for this one song)
————-
2. If you liked Dhivara you might also like -
Okay so fun fact : Apparently, Dhivara’s chorus is a verse taken from Hanuman Chalisa where Jambavan hypes Hanuman up to boost his morale because Hanuman thinks he couldn’t go to Lanka and carry their plan out himself
(This brings me to a question if Avanthika’s supposed to be Jambavan but let’s leave that, okay.)
— Beera : High energy, earthy beats unlike Dhivara’s electronic, bits. Both songs introduce us to the characters, describe (rather praise) them, share the Ramayana theme (this one’s about Raavan).
— Pataakha Guddi : Hype song with female pronouns. Not as glorifying, obviously, but goes well with the recklessness Mahendra shows.
— Madhuram Madhuram : (Telugu) Speaking of sloka verses in songs, this is rendention of the Madhurashtakam.
— Jugni : Promises of freedom, journey into a land unexplored, exploring curiosity are the themes which I associate with this phase which
— Samayama : (Telugu) Sounds similar. Definitely different lyrically.
————
3. If you liked Manohari, you might also like
— Suraiyya : Not as...seductive as Manohari but definitely as fun.
—Oye Boy Charlie : Both are playful and teasing in a way.
— Jor Se : (Telugu) Not a personal favourite, but it’s from Rajamouli’s Magadheera so has a similar feel to it
— Rajasekhara : (Telugu) Go see the video to witness an 21 yr old Rana awkwardly standing in the middle of a bunch of pretty women.
— Namak : Probably the only song in the list which is close to Manohari’s sensuous vibe.

13-09-2020 / My Mom Calls Me Everyday & The Days She Doesn’t, I Do!
Tumblr media
It was a norm which I hadn’t known of as I had never been away from home. Being alone to fend for myself was a peculiar interest of mine. I guess at that age and limited perception that most of us would have, we all must have had felt that thrust of independence to some extent. It is a novel experience for most – the time when breaking away from norms seems insightful, and a lack of routine and responsibility was the ruse of being self-reliant.
Nothing turned out the way it seemed.
My mother is a jovially strict and profoundly paradoxical person. Growing up our parents are our superheroes. Their stories, their lives, their struggles form a sort of internal folklore: the various idiosyncrasies, approach and aspects is what we take pride in within our peer groups. That phase, while it lasts, is a phase of veneration towards our parents. In that stage, I did envy many of my friends who were closer and more open to their mothers or fathers than I was, or I presume I could be. For their stories were more intricate – they could share their days’ worth over the dining table, while all the excitement I had or the grief I imbibed lay obliterated by the sheen in my eyes.
When the reverence subsides a sense of detachment surfaces. There is no negative connotation to it whatsoever. She has and always will want the best for me – though I had reached a point in time, when I knew what was best for me without any empirical evidence for the same. There always existed this conflict as to who I was to be and what my parents are wanting me to be. I have fought with her over things like why I am not allowed to stay out after 7p.m, not allowed to sleep till 10 in the morning, not allowed to go somewhere and many such reasons. Though now when I write I am letting it go with a chuckle, then it was a matter that hardly got erasure with mere sobs and tears. There were protests, I have cursed them in my heart, I have hoped ill happened on them – and the very next moment I have regretted it – but at that point I was adamant enough to believe in something trivial to be ostentatious enough to make me do what I did.
I always tend to keep my writings under-5-minute read.
I would like to break away from that today though and share a story.
I was in a different town and we had to return back to our place by noon. I had promised my then girlfriend to meet her at a specified place at a specified time in the eve. Due to certain issues my father altered the plan to return at night, and that, yes that, made me vociferously angry. I stuck on the fact that I had to go by noon, as I had commitments to keep – and that’s what I did. Against their repeated advice, I got up on a bus and went off into my fairy world, just to be stopped half an hour later by a violent mob (someone in the village had died of accident). What was I to do then? Whom do I retort to? Whom do I ask for help? I did eventually manage to reach my destination but that gave me the most fearful day of my life. The rest of the arduous journey I undertook, I remember chanting the Hanuman Chalisa without pause, deriding myself and deciding to never ever go against their wishes.
The next weekend I ended up doing something they wouldn’t have wanted me to do.
And she isn’t a fool, she is the smartest person I have ever known. She knows each and every step I can take, will take, have taken and would have taken. Yet she plays along, my tens of lies and shams, without even giving a hint that she knows who I am. Whenever cornered and amazed I ask as to how did she know or guess what I would have been up to, she just smiles and says the same thing over and over again since the past two decades of my life – to paraphrase, “I kept you in my womb for 9 months and everything that comes after that goes through me first!”. There never has been a day that has gone by without me realising it.
Suddenly one day it all stopped, I was let free. I returned from a party after midnight I wasn’t chided. I could talk over phone at 2 AM in the morning and I wasn’t asked a question. I wondered what happened – the first thought being, did they give up on me? I found out they hadn’t but were wise enough to let me be who I was when the time was right. I was a loaf of mud when they took me in, moulded me, shaped me, baked me, painted me – and made me, me enough to win every bid that I could ever come across. They did it with me, they surely would have done it with you; and we will do it our wards too.
The more I look back at it, the more it fascinates how we think about certain stuff. When we lie to a friend, we are always worried what if he or she finds out. When we cheat in a relationship, we take every step to cover it well enough to stay buried. When we pretend being something which we aren’t we remember to stay in character for that person forever. So, why do we do that to our mother? Neither we would be judged, nor dumped nor ostracised, then why? Is it because we take her for granted, or she is it because she cares any less? Or, is it just that she is out of zone, in regard to the current us in the current times?
For me, the answer maybe is that I know she will forgive me always. Still, there are things I know that aren’t approvable to her – and I wouldn’t want to disappoint a mother by breaking the image of her son that she so securely treasures within. Maybe, I care for her way more than I can ever show and my subconscious just makes it easy to escape the situation resorting to a harmless lie than to face her with my conflicting truth. In any case, mothers don’t lie; we do for reasons which we can’t justify with any bravado.
She does call me every night – at times I end up talking for a second, at times I end up  talking for an hour; sometimes I chide her as to why she should talk every day and some days she is too tired to talk and still calls for a second before she sleeps. If by chance I call, there is a different something in the voice, may be that day she gleefully says to that someone she prays before sleeping, that I had called her today. I don’t know! If you get a chance ask her, I am too embarrassed to.
When I was a child, we used to have a comic rendition of the Ramayana called “Prabachana” (loosely translated as ‘sermon’ in English). Those times of cassettes and Walkman have long gone, and yet my mom still repeats her favourite dialogue, “Pua kuputra heipare, hele maa kebe kumata hueni” (“There can be bad sons, but a bad mother never exists”). Subjectively, I wouldn’t say I am bad, objectively I don’t know – but one thing I am sure of is, if I had someone who really could go against every convictions, belief, faith, bond and relation for someone quite undeserving, it would be my mom.
So, hug her, kiss her, talk with her, irritate her, bore her or just be with her - One day, someday, don’t wait, just call her.

Hanuman is probably the most remembered God in times of trouble. Whenever people are scared or are looking for strength they start chanting Hanuman Chalisa. But there is one place in India where people never take his name. In fact, if a resident of that place worships Lord Hanuman, he/she is thrown out of the society. That place is Dronagiri. Needless to say, the temples of this place do not have an idol of Hanuman in them. The reason for this dates back to the days of Ramayana. We all know when Lakshman was injured by the arrow of Meghnath, Hanuman was asked to get the Sanjeevani Buti to save Lakshman. This miraculous herb was only available in the mountains of Dronagiri. On reaching the Dronagiri Village, Hanuman asked an elderly lady about the herb and she pointed Hanuman towards the Dronagiri Parbat. When Hanuman flew to Dronagiri, he got confused on seeing so many herbs, so he picked the entire mountain and took it to Lanka to bring Lakshman back to life. Now the twist is that instead of worshipping any idol, the people of Dronagiri worshipped the mountain. And because Hanuman had taken the entire mountain with him, the people of Dronagiri did not like it. This is the reason that the people there do not worship Hanuman. In fact after Hanuman had taken the mountain, the old lady who helped Hanuman in identifying the mountain with Sanjeevani, was also outcast. Since then, worshipping Hanuman, or even hosting red flags in the village is prohibited. One needs to hike up to reach Dronagiri, but now a bridge has been built across the river, and a road is being constructed till Dronagiri Village. https://www.instagram.com/p/BuOHHYgHOZ9/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1pyhz4llly2a4

via Today Bharat nbsp; The problem is not that the AAP is not anti-majoritarian or anti-BJP enough, but it is not opposing the BJP precisely in the way liberals and radicals want them to.AAP, Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal, aAP Hindutva, delhi elections, delhi assembly elections, aap win in delhi elections, ... AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal paid a visit to Hanuman temple and recited Hanuman Chalisa before the elections. My Facebook newsfeed is full of conditional cheers on the Aam Aadmi Partyrsquo;s victory over the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi: liberals and radicals clarify that they are happy the BJP has lost; but not happy that the Aam Aadmi has won, for the AAP is, they say, a soft-Hindutva party. Hindutva politics is the politicisation of a majority community created around symbols, united with an anti-minority agenda, and nurtured around perceived fears and insecurities. What has the AAP or its most visible and central icon, Arvind Kejriwal, done to fit this bill? Between 2014 and 2019, the AAP has done the usual things secular and progressive politicians are expected to do: visits to Dadri for Akhlaq and Hyderabad for Rohith Vemula, invite to Ghulam Ali to sing in Delhi when he was not allowed to conduct a concert in Mumbai, opposition to the Modi government against bigoted steps, support to Kanhaiya and Najeeb and so on. This so-called anarchist-activist of a politician has not been reported to have pitted any community against any other or come up with any that could support the politics of polarisation. Then there are these notions, repeated ad nauseum, but are, as a matter of fact, baseless: Kejriwal used to work with the RSS when the person who he used to work with was Mother Theresa. The AAP is an anti-reservation, anti-Dalit group is another idea manufactured in the social media: again, factually wrong. Kejriwal has categorically said he supports caste-based reservation. Delhi schools teach the Constitution and Ambedkar as a response to the Hindutvaisation of curriculum by the BJP. The most valid reason to call the AAP soft Hindutva is AAPrsquo;s silence on CAA and NRC? As for facts, it did: In the Rajyasabha, out on the street and in TV rooms. The AAP MLA from Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Shaheen Bagh MLA Amanatullah Khan were initially with the protesters and went off the scene later, as it went on to be framed as a movement without political affiliations. Atishi and Raghav Chadha were on national TV opposing the BJP government on CAA and NRC. Arvind Kejriwal also criticised the Bill as anti-poor, unnecessary, unfair and absolutely impractical in its arbitrariness. Had Kejriwal not supported Sisodia or Amanatullah Khan, he would have either distanced himself from them or not given them seats in the election. But neither of this happened clearly messaged on where the AAP and Kejriwal were. The lower class, lower caste, Muslim womenrsquo;s movement for actualising the promises of Constitution of India is far bigger than any party or any leader, after all. Then why wasnrsquo;t the Delhi elections fought on the CAA and NRC? Well, it actually was. But the issue was introduced into the election by the BJP as the central part of their campaign. The BJP wanted to fight the election on national subjects and the AAP wanted to fight it on local issues. Had Kejriwal, the central AAP figure, gone to Shaheen Bagh, it would have also ended up fighting the Delhi assembly elections exclusively on a national issue, abandoning the local frame ndash; a sure route for Kejriwal to make a Waterloo out of this election. Opinion | Mr Kejriwal, Delhi is done and dusted, shouldnrsquo;t you visit Shaheen Bagh now? Why doesnrsquo;t Kejriwal ever attack Hindutwa head-on, in their own terms? It depends on our ways of being anti-majoritarian. If anti-majoritarianism is an exercise in giving perfect sound-bite rebuttals, Kejriwal is woefully unappealing. But fascism or majoritarianism is peoplersquo;s consensual crowding around a single saviour when they feel scared and helpless. Theoreticians have pointed out how it is not people being cheated into supporting a fascist; but how they want one at a particular point in history. Giving people a sense of participation and belongingness against a politics in which they feel not participatory citizens of a Republic but the hypnotised, disconnected spectators of a huge spectacle of power, is, itself an anti-fascist project. So the AAP does have an efficient anti-majoritarian strategy. Social development action, a necessary supplement to social justice rhetoric abandons the agenda of majoritarianism while soft Hindutva follows it way behind, slowly but surely ndash; corrupt and tokenist. One disappointing and unacceptable step from Arvind Kejriwal was the immediate tweet supporting the abrogation of Article 370, where he hoped the abrogation ldquo;will bring peace and development in the staterdquo;, after which he has not said anything on the matter. The problem was not the abrogation itself, for, as this article which has ceased to be anything more than an emotional and symbolic issue for decades now, much can be said on both sides. But there could be nothing to be ambiguous in the dictatorial and clandestine way in which the abrogation was imposed on a people. As a person who introduced participatory democracy in popular Indian politics, it was only grammatical for Kejriwal to oppose the manner. Similarly, a champion of federalism himself, the relegation of a state to a Union Territory, couldnrsquo;t have been acceptable to Kejriwal. This is one place where he acted like a person scared of his constituency and shows one dangerous side of his variety of populism mdash; with a shift towards the right, mass, effective leaders will find it difficult to take certain kinds of positions. This is where systematisation of political values matter. As for Kejriwal going to the Mandir and singing Hanuman Chalisa when asked if he knew the Chalisa cannot be equated with a political procession chanting even ldquo;Ram Ramrdquo;, a routine salutation of North Indian Hindus, leave alone ldquo;Jai Sri Ramrdquo;ndash; a Hindutva modification on it. What Kejriwal did was a public performance of the personal, without socialising it as a mantra for his party or people. It is a change for Kejriwal also: he was championing the Nehruvian scientific legacy in his first term, and now his Hanuman seems to rhyme with Gandhirsquo;s Rama. As this is not an argument about liberalism but about secularism, both models should work. In short, the problem is not that the AAP is not anti-majoritarian or anti-BJP enough, but it is not opposing the BJP precisely in the way liberals and radicals want them to. It is important to take cognizance of this aspect, lest the purist narratives, cynical in their dogma, will end up causing the loss of allies in a collective, anti-majoritarian struggle. Why does the AAP look like the party that is not helped by its history, work, the social base of urban poor, youth and women and five yearsrsquo; progressive governance when it comes to being called soft-Hindutva? Why are they seen as culprits unless proved innocent? The AAP is the political formation of a new social class. Neither they themselves nor the commentators are clear about what trajectory the party will take in the future, precisely because the very social category, its basis, is still getting formed; the pendulum is still oscillating. In the class war between the new urban middle class with political Hinduism as the ideological cement and the urban poor with upper/middle caste volunteer leadership and pragmatic constitutional nationalism as its binding force, the liberal-radical commentators who largely belong to the feudal families and has a certain progressive, left vocabulary suddenly might be finding themselves in a vacuum- neither social experience nor vocabulary offers any solace of familiarity. It must understandably be scary and alienating to deal in political narratives that look like such an unknown territory of rank outsiders. One way to handle such incomprehensibility is to narrate it in available terms, translate the whole social phenomenon to known boxes and thus exhaust its possibilities in predictions- an exercise in political astrology. Not a bad idea in itself but it is good to be realistic and honest about what is being done.
