Gender (CW:Vent)
ive had gender dysphoria for almost my whole life, i never really felt like a girl even though thats what everyone called me. sometimes i did feel like a girl, but those sometimes were rare. others i felt like a boy, some weird third thing, or a combination of them. years later and i have words to describe those feelings, nonbinary and genderfluid respectively. so i started to call myself nonbinary, cause thats what i am most of the time, and i felt happier, i felt more free. then last night i was laying in bed, reading something, and i realized fuck, i am a girl, like in this moment i am. and it made me feel wrong to call myself nonbinary, because i wasnt. i felt like a fraud, but at the same time i was mourning that i wasnt, a girl. and then it hit me like a fucking truck. i had shoved myself into a box again. in my desperate attempt to make my existence describable to other people, i had made my own prison. i cried when i couldnt be nonbinary, i cried when i couldnt be a boy, i cried when i couldnt be a girl. i like it when things are simple, and im not found of change. but to be a person is to be everchanging, and maybe i can find beauty in that
i just think we all need a reminder from time to time, that lablels should help describe you, not feel like a box youre crammed into. i went to bed a she/her woke up a she/they and thats alright, it may be confusing to others, and not as simple as people would like, but it fits me perfectly, and thats what matters most :]

Quick rant because I saw something on TikTok that has me TWEAKING
before I begin i would like to say that I’m an ally to the LGBTQ community and in no way am I targeting them, this is just something I saw that genuinely confuses me.
ok so to begin, when we first started learning english we were taught the he/him, she/her, and they/them pronouns. Then they introduced xe/xem/xyr pronouns (I hope I said it correctly). Anyways I was on TikTok and this girl says “my pronouns are Moonlight/sunshine”
MAM WHAT THE FUCK
(No offense to anyone but)
pronouns were made to REPLACE nouns, not BE nouns!
anyways thank you for coming to my Ted talk and pls no one kill me for this
Update for the fans:
We got boba and he carried me around the butterfly park cuz I was scared of the butterflies
Also quick question what’s the difference between gender fluid and non-binary?
Welcome to the education special, my favorite!
So the Xe/xem/xyr and the moonlight/sunshine are forms of neopronouns. Fae/faer, Ze/hir and ey/em are also forms of neopronouns. Normally these type of pronouns are used by non binary people that don't feel they fit within most used pronouns. Though longer pronouns like moonlight/sunshine can be more difficult to use, they ultimately aren't harming anyone and you can always just move past it.
As for the difference between gender fluid and non binary that's simple. Non binary means outside of the male/female gender binary. They are neither male, nor female. Gender fluid is where someone's gender and prefered pronouns can change based off the day, or feel. They may be female one day, male another or non binary at times and can move between them depending on how they feel at that point in time.
As always if there is anything wrong with what I said please correct me in the comments or if you have something to add 💖
Also, not an attack on you at all but saying no offence doesn't negate the offense in a statement. There's no actual point in saying it because the offense will be taken either way.
(Sincerely an autistic that doesn't understand why people say no offense then say something offensive. Just be offensive or don't? What's the point? The only okay time is if you say something like "no offense but the sky is blue" because yeah, that's not offensive at all that's fact. This has been my noodle talk)

just wanted to drop off some extra kimberlé crenshaw lore for all the work you've been doing!
1) yes, black/indigenous feminist and womanist scholars had all been integrating race into their analysis throughout the late 20th century, but crenshaw was the first to coin intersectionality, and it was specifically born as a legal theory to describe how black women had been essentially treated as a lesser class than white women or black men by civil rights laws. there were specific workplace discrimination cases where courts ruled that, because these companies hired (white) women and (male) black people, there wasnt a case and for black women to stop bothering them by creating more specific claims that were supposedly absent from the law.
2) even in the 90's, crenshaw saw that there were wider problems that intersectionality addressed than the justice system. ever since 1989, she's never stopped working on this theory, both as a professor of law and as a public figure, so she has been around to see it make the jump from legal journals to the wider culture we live in. she has a podcast called "intersectionality matters" where she interviews politicians and activists to talk about how contemporary issues are shaped by their social locations.
3) though trans rights aren't her area of legal specialty, she has explicitly incorporated trans women into her analyses for at least the past three years, including #SayHerName with the case of kayla moore and discussing the impact of the trump administration's transphobic healthcare discrimination with imara jones (founder of translash). there's probably more earlier than this but i haven't read ALL her work (yet).
4) her theories influenced the south african constitution of 1994(!!) and the CROWN act in california, and she's currently proposing a major update to the US constitution(!!) that explicitly includes reproductive rights AND gender identity, among many other axes of oppression.
women's history month is a perfect time to learn more!
"Demarginalizing the Intersection of Race and Sex [etc.]" (her original 1989 work)
"Mapping the Margins [etc.]" (1991 expansion of her thoughts, probably her most famous and accessible piece)
"Black Girls Matter [etc.]" (2015)
and of course her TED talk, her podcast, her twitter @/sandylocks, everything she's written for the nyt or the washington post over the past few years, and basically any interview you can find is gold. her work is so fundamental, so accessible, and so easy to understand, and it's so annoying when reactionaries pretend she's about stuff she clearly isn't about.
We have submissions too. You don't have to info drop our asks. 😅😅
This actually pairs well with the ask I just responded to about Audre Lorde.
It's women's history month, and I'm CLEARLY lacking in knowledge in Black Feminists, intersectionality, misogynior knowledge.
So like, this is amazing. I've learned so much.
If anyone else has amazing Black women you want me to highlight, asks are open for anything you want me to look up (I absolutely will. This is amazing.) And submissions are open for knowledge you want to share.
😅😅

I don’t get why people shit on neopronouns. They usually say “IT MAKES THE TRANS* COMMUNITY LOOK LIKE A JOKE!” or “IT MAKES OUR COMMUNITY LOOK BAD” but never explain why or just say “BC I DON’T LIKE IT/UNDERSTAND IT”.
it’s very Western to boldly assume that he/him, they/them and she/her are the only pronouns where in different cultures there’s completely different pronouns and gender identities that you erase with your ignorance. so unless you GENUINELY  are gonna try to 1v1 me on this topic (which, you’re wrong about) don’t interact if you don’t support neopronouns
besides. if you don’t like neopronouns maybe just mind your own business. if my homie wants to go by fae/faeself pronouns I’m gonna RESPECT my homie bc I ain’t the one using them and I support all trans* people thanks for coming to my TED talks

doctor glass or gerald?
two perfect boys i do not talk about enough!
glass:
gender: fun fact of the day is that i heavily associate them with warm gray and pink so i keep thinking of the demigirl flag when i think of them even though i don’t actually feel that way whatsoever. anyway one of those fun mogai xenogenders baby we’re talking “fuck dude i can only explain my gender through this modern sculpture” type shit. he/she/they/fae/whatever they see and like. we stan a pronoun hoarder
sexuality: pan, aro+aceflux. it’s fun.
ship: qpp lightbulb! they love their awful best friend who they also kiss sometimes.
friendship: the special and beautiful relationship that is simon glass and benjamin kondraki bonding over how completely apeshit their (shared) partners are. and then because kondraki is only mature and tired relative to alto clef and jack bright they say something completely off the wall and glass instinctively shifts into ben affleck smoking mode
notp: none really???? i guess i prefer them + diogenes as friends
headcanon: actually knows how to do their job. jesus fucking christ. understands and is capable of diagnosing what’s going on with their coworkers and is mostly hitting roadblocks in treatment due to everyone’s sheer unwillingness to actually acknowledge or work on their problems. once everyone starts wanting to get help, they absolutely will be able to help them. and like they can’t Force them all to get therapy but. but. h
general opinion: a surprise projection fav solely because i can identify a good deal of what’s probably going on with the essie p characters and i want to shake everyone on the shoulders and make them get treated. good god.
doctor gerald:
gender: disaster nonbinary
sexuality: chaotic something??? he just goes with gay as a general term. easier to find pride stuff which is good because all his shit gets destroyed like 24/7
ship: idk? ive seen him and iceberg which is cute i guess. the only problem is that they will definitely burn down an entire site by their powers combined
friendship: also him and iceberg but this one ive thought about previously. a funny level twos cause an explosion
notp: ehhhhhhh i dont... know? theres not a lot of ways to make a fucked up dynamic, hes just  gerald bro
headcanon: despite literally everything happening to him all the time, he is one of the most well adjusted people at the foundation. glass loves talking with him he is so polite and willing to put in the work to improve himself. if only he didnt keep accidentally destroying their office
general opinion: gee doctor gerald how come mod lets you have rights? its because i love him and hes done nothing wrong thank you for coming to my ted talk
