Please don't be mean to me about this 😅 It's a sincere request and I still love that everyone is having fun with all of this.
I mean no shade or nastiness towards the people who write these things or are into these things, and I'm not trying to be the fun police. Do you and have fun! But, like...
Can I get some tiefling fanfic that doesn't talk about their "sensitive horns" or how they "purr"?
The horns thing moreso. It takes me right out of it every time. Which sucks because there are so many awesome fics out there, that wind up doing this thing, and then my brain kind of checks out.
As a fanfic writer, myself, I get that fics are usually written primarily for the writer, and I totally appreciate that fact. And as such, I'd honestly just write it, myself (like I did for the lack of Dwight Fairfield {Dead by Daylight} stuff) instead of asking the community at large, but I'm so burnt out I haven't been able to work on anything on my current list, and I've been living off of the incredibly talented people writing for Rolan and Zevlor in particular. Seriously, you are all so wonderful and your work has been a bright spot for me right now during a majorly difficult time I've been going through ❤️
Although I read someone on a different site say that tiefling horns could be viewed like goat horns because devils and goats are so often associated with each other, their horns seem to be a lot more like ram horns. This is an important distinction because goat horns have important nerves inside of the horn, whereas rams don't.
If a goat breaks a horn, not only is it incredibly painful, but they can bleed out and die. Rams, not so much.
Tieflings are shown to not only have broken horns (i.e. Karlach) in both D&D and BG3, but filing the horns down is also an option tieflings can take... Which means that there aren't nerves inside of the horn. If there were, at best, something like that would be unimaginably painful. At worst, they could die from it. And considering tiefling children can straight up break off a horn and grow it back, it's even more highly unlikely that that's the case.
If there aren't nerves in the horn, they can't feel it if you stroke the horn, or graze it with your fingers, etc.
I know we all wanna write steamy sex scenes and such—and, again, because tone is so often lost in text, I don't mean this as something mean or eye-rolly—but not everything needs to be an erogenous zone. Besides, horns can still be grabbed and used as handlebars! That's super sexy!!!
As for the purring, or other Infernal traits that get written similarly, like I said, that's way less a thing for me. But they're not Tabaxi and were originally made from humans whose blood and bodies were altered by making deals with Asmodeus. It's why tieflings can only be born of two tieflings, a human and a tiefling, or two humans with infernal blood.
Again, if you're into this, or write this, I'm not trying to tell you to stop lmao. It's just that this is everywhere and I'd like some variety that takes these things into account 😅

On the 14th of March, 1986, a baby boy was discovered on the banks of Lake Mohegan, Fairfield, Connecticut. He was just a couple of hours old and was found wrapped up in bloody white blankets. He had suffered terrible injuries, including facial mutilation and a broken jaw.
When police arrived at the scene, they found some strange items, including fruit and coins which suggested occult practices. These eerie signs suggested a connection to Palo Mayombe, a little-known religion believed to use human remains in its rituals. Researchers involved in the case describe Palo Mayombe as a dark offshoot of Santeria, a religion that blends Afro-Caribbean and Catholic elements. The evidence seemed to indicate a ritualistic killing, making the case even more chilling.
Despite an exhaustive investigation, the identity of the baby remains a mystery, along with the identity of who killed him.

omg i was just rereading keys and i realized that when garret tries to get maura the last time, jane doesn't leave her side. like she knows she left graces side and grace died so now shes not taking her eyes off maura im screaming
wow. oh my god wow. thank you. for noticing this, and then for coming to tell me.
here. have this as a present for being inside my head.
......
......
he hasn't ever seen her like this.
The police come by her house that morning to tell her that if she attends the funeral she will be in violation of a trespassing order or a restraining order or some shit, and he's not really listening because when they tell her she can't go her face does that dissolve thing it's been doing almost every day since Grace died.
She's sitting next to him on the couch, and neither of her parents is home, and he can't stop thinking that he shouldn't have let those two cops in. That he could have stopped this from happening some how, if his mind hadn't gone black-boy-in-front-of-two-police-officers blank at the sight of the guns at their waists.
"You understand, Ms. Rizzoli?" the bigger one says. He takes a step towards her, and she leans back into the couch and that's enough for Barry to find his courage and step forward and say in as tough a voice as he can,
"Yeah. she heard you, man. Back off."
They do, miraculously, leaving without any further comment, and he goes back to sit with Jane on the couch. She doesn't say anything for a long, long time, and he doesn't break the silence either. Mostly because he doesn't know what the fuck to say.
I'm sorry you lost your girlfriend. I could love you, if you would just show me how.
He opens his mouth, unsure what is going to come out, but then Jane is standing. She gestures that he should stand too.
"Help me pack." she says.
He doesn't dream of arguing.
....
So he finds a way to get her to the funeral. Of course he does. If she's going to run away, and he's never going to see her again, this feels like the last, true thing he can do.
When they crest the little hill and Jane realizes where they are, her eyes go wide and brim with tears, but her face doesn't collapse in on itself the way it does when her parents fight.
It doesn't dissolve into no man's land like it did the night her father called her a dyke.
They sit down on the hillside, out of the Fairfields' line of sight, and they watch as people start to gather.
"I let her go," Jane says suddenly.
A bag pipe has begun to play, and Barry only met Grace once, at a pool hall downtown, but he knows that she would have hated to have bagpipes anywhere near her funeral.
"This isn't on you," he says. "You loved her. All you did was love her, Jay."
But Jane shakes her head. "I had her, in my arms. And I went after him. I let her go. I should never have let her go."
He doesn't know what to say to that. He doesn't really understand what she means. Only now that he is looking at her looking down at her girlfriend's grave does he realize that he hasn't truly understood anything at all.
"I let her go," she says.
She drops her head to his shoulder.
He doesn't put his arm around her. And they stay like that for a long, long time.

Cases with Major Updates in 2023, Part One.
Many cases featured on this page had major updates during 2023. While these cases still aren't resolved, these updates created movement in their investigations and more awareness to the case overall. Here's part one of the list of cases with major updates this year. Lots of you are already familiar with them so I provided a brief TL;DR description with each, but links to the full case write-up are there as well! Part two will be posted at a later date.
The Disappearance & Death of Cheyann Klus. TL;DR update: The remains of Cheyann Klus were identified in January 2023. Cheyann had been missing since December 2017; she vanished at the age of 22 from Chicago, Illinois. Her remains were reportedly found in 2020 but remained unidentified until January 2023.
The Disappearance & Murder of Katelyn Markham. TL;DR update: In March 2023, John Carter was charged with Katelyn's murder. Weeks earlier, Jonathan Palmerton was charged with perjury in relation to Katelyn's murder. Katelyn originally vanished in Fairfield, Ohio at the age of 21 during 2011. Her remains were found in 2013. Carter was Katelyn's fiancé and he had been a person of interest in the case since her disappearance. The cases against both men are currently pending.
The Murder of Courtney Phillips. TL;DR update: Isaac Estrada was finally charged with Courtney Phillips' murder after being captured by authorities in Eagle Pass, Texas. Courtney was found stabbed to death at a residence in San Antonio, Texas in April 2015. Estrada was a suspect early into the investigation, but police were unable to locate him. After 8 years on the run, Estrada was finally captured in March 2023. He is currently facing charges for evading arrest, first-degree aggravated robbery and first-degree murder.
The Disappearance of Irene Gakwa. TL;DR update: During March 2023, Nathan Hightman was sentenced to six years in prison for using Irene Gakwa's credit cards, bank accounts, and Facebook/email accounts after she went missing in February 2022. Irene is still missing, and Hightman still denies knowledge of her whereabouts.
The Disappearance & Death of Madison Scott. TL;DR update: The remains of Madison Scott were found on a rural property east of Vanderhoof during May 2023. Madison vanished at the age of 20 nearly 12 years earlier during a party at Hogsback Lake. Since the discovery of her remains, detectives have remained quiet about the state of the investigation.

Daniel was familiar with many emotions, however pure anger ?  It wasn't something he felt very often, even before willingly committing himself to a lifetime stuck in such place, it could be counted on the fingers of one hand how many times such ugly sentiment took a hold of him.  Twice.  And both times everything ended in a gruesome pool of blood after he lost complete control over his own person.  Such familiar and yet so different feeling starting to bubble up in his chest, scorching and ugly, making his teeth grit and fingers twitch with the need to shove his knife through the throat of whoever dared to touch him.
Hazel hues never once left the survivor's frame, even as he moved closer and listened to him.  Forehead creased with worry, the very same sentiment mixed with frustration and anger behind his intense gaze.  Why did it hurt to see Dwight so messed up ?  A question he already knew the answer of, one that he could dwell on later on because there was something, someone, more important to take care of.  So the little assholes were to blame ?  He was going to pay a visit at Ormond, teach every single one them a lesson, one they weren't going to forget anytime soon.
Except such thought so easily slipping away to the back of his mind the moment he noticed Dwight's body falter, the sound of glasses hitting the ground resonating around them and before the survivor could meet the same fate,  Daniel's arms were wrapping around his frame, pulling him to himself, keeping him safe.  " I got you. "
Everything was a blur of movements then, ever so gently laying Dwight on the familiar couch as he killer gathered what he needed to patch him up and give him a resemble of clean clothes, before picking him up once more, bare hands and clothes getting more blood onto them, and yet, he didn't care.  Racoon City Police Station was the destination, the one place Daniel knew showers were still working.
" C'mon, doll.  I need you to wake up. "  A nudge of his nose against the side of his head, and if he pressed his hand on one of his wounds, just to jolt him awake, well, he'd make sure to ask for forgiveness later.

I need to know the story behind you breaking into an abandoned asylum! That sounds interesting as hell!
okay so I’m prefacing by saying if you actually looked it up you could probably tell the area in which I grew up, but I don’t live there anymore so I don’t really care and I don’t feel like any of you would, like, look for my identity so it’s fine
so one summer day I was going to hang out with my friend and we wanted to do something fun. I’m like hey K, do you want to go to holy land? I know you’ve never been there before and it’s a cool place to look around (having been there once myself before
for those of you not native to connecticut, holy land usa is an abandoned christian theme park (no, I am not making this up). I won’t go into the whole history because that’s not the purpose of this post but you can read it here. there has been a murder or two there but it has in recent years been bought by a church and is now semi-maintained again (as in, it doesn’t count as trespassing anymore and they sometimes hold religious services by the 56 ft illuminated cross)
ANYWAYS so I drove us 30 minutes from where we lived to waterbury and just as we were about to pull in SOMEONE FUCKING CLOSED THE ROAD so nope, we couldn’t go :(
so we’re in the car driving back home, still wanting something semi-spooky so I’m like, hey, I’ve never seen fairfield hills (abandoned asylum) up close, why don’t we stop by and take a look???
so we drive there and park. now, it’s not especially spooky NOW because part of the huge complex has been, like, converted into community buildings (like a community center, rec center/gym, a fire house I think) because after an internationally known tragedy happened the community got a shit ton of money and they invested a lot of that into community resources
so we park near one of the still abandoned buildings and get out to walk around. mind you, it’s still 100% STILL FUCKING DAYLIGHT out.
we round the corner backed by woods and what do you know- there’s a hole in the fence and an open second story window. my friend and I look at each other like 👀👀👀 and decide, fuck it, let’s try it. yolo and all that
she boosts me up as far as she could and I used the outside little ledge (I wish I had a picture because this is a flex) and pull myself through the window. I then pull her up from the ground and get her in too.
we look around. we are somewhere in what used to look like some sort of wooden cubicles which were no longer really there. her phone is dead, we only have my phone flashlight, but it’s still sunny out and barely any of the windows are boarded up so it’s fine
we walk around, obviously people are in here frequently because there is graffiti EVERYWHERE, some wrappers, a few c*ndoms for some reason, I think maybe a needle or two (yikes). so like, it’s frequented but we didn’t think anyone was there with us
it wasn’t even really that spooky during the day (I would probably never go at night because 1. more of a chance other people would be there and I’m not going to risk possibly having a negative interaction yk, 2. I feel like more police would be patrolling it then, and 3. I’m not all that superstitious but I would never go there at night as a group of two)
we found what we assumed was an old rec room with a still mostly functional pool table (and an old dress in the window???), some bathrooms, an elevator stuck between floors, and some cool graffiti
we were in one of the stairwells with cool large windows when we saw a police car further away in the parking lot and went NOPE and continued down into the basement. aside from the little windows towards the ceiling it was PITCH BLACK and my tiny phone light did fucking NOTHING lmao.
we were able to get into the attic and I REALLY wanted to find out how to get into the bell tower but one of the doors was locked I think and we couldn’t find another way :(
all in all, I wish it was spookier but it couldn’t really get that spooky in the daylight, but I like that I can say that I did it because it’s a fun story. I would honestly love to go again now that I have lock pics and investigate some more but I don’t live there anymore
here are some pics and a video:

"Blockades of military bases in #California continues in solidarity with #Palestine. This recent action was met with police brutality."
"During these arrests they violently attacked several femmes, and threw several to the ground. Of those attacked, one was knocked unconscious from the force of the police assault. Another who had arrived with a walker due to hip injuries, was thrown to the ground and hospitalized. Immediately after the arrests were made police moved to try and arrest protesters who had never entered the street, but they were stopped by other police. "

Teens  beat Spanish teacher to death with baseball bat over bad grade
Nohema Graber, a 66-year-old teacher at Fairfield High School, vanished on 2 November 2021 after going on her regular daily walk in Fairfield, Iowa.
The next day, her badly-beaten body was found hidden under a tarp, railroad ties and a wheelbarrow in a local park.
Two of Graber’s students Jeremy Goodale and Willard Miller, who were both 16 at the time, were arrested and charged with her murder – sending shock waves throughout the close-knit community.
Now, court documents have revealed a potential motive for the first time. In the documents, filed in an Iowa court this week, prosecutors said that Mr Miller met with his Spanish teacher at the high school on the afternoon of the murder.
The meeting was held to discuss the low grade he had received in her class. The teenager allegedly told police that he was angry that Graber had given him a poor grade which was lowering his overall grade point average (GPA). He also voiced frustration with the way that Graber taught Spanish in her class, prosecutors said.
“The poor grade is believed to be the motive behind the murder of Graber which directly connects Miller,” the documents read.
Hours later, investigators said that Graber drove her van to a local park where she was known to go for a walk every day after work. There, the teenagers allegedly stalked and ambushed the teacher, beating her to death with a baseball bat before hiding her body. Around 42 minutes after Graber arrived at the park, witnesses saw two males driving her van away from the area, investigators said. The vehicle was later found abandoned along a rural road.
Investigators said that the two teenagers were later picked up on the same road by a witness after Mr Goodale called them for a lift.
The net closed in on the two students when police received a tip-off that Mr Goodale had boasted about killing the teacher on Snapchat.
According to police, the teenager implicated both himself and Mr Miller by name in the murder, detailing how they stalked Graber, killed her and then hid her body and disposed of evidence.
The two teenagers were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Born in 1919 South Carolina into a family of sharecroppers, WWII veteran Isaac Woodard knew struggle and poverty from a very early age --dropping out of school at the age of 11 and then leaving home altogether at 15, in search of better prospects than Fairfield County. After some years laboring in a lumberyard, Woodard joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, a New Deal public work relief program. In 1942, Woodard was drafted into the U.S. Army, along with an estimated 675,000 other Black Americans. He was eventually deployed to the South Pacific in 1944, serving with the 429th Port Battalion --a segregated unit. During the brutal New Guinea campaign, Woodard saw a great deal of action and was promoted to Corporal, and then ultimately to Sergeant, earning a battle star for combat service, along with a number of other medals. Thusly decorated, Woodard was honorably discharged from service and flew home to Augusta, Georgia, where on February 12, 1946, he caught a bus back to South Carolina and his family --literally the very last leg of his long journey home.
Enroute, a stray comment from Woodard to the bus driver about rest stops swiftly led to an altercation --the bus driver deemed Woodard's "attitude" to be insufficiently deferential, resulting in a call to the Batesburg-Leeville, South Carolina police department. In very short order Woodard found himself arrested and severely beaten by police, gouging out both of his eyes. Still in his uniform, Woodard was left sightless overnight in a jail cell, only to be formally charged with "drunk and disorderly conduct" the following morning. Woodard spent the next 2 months in a VA hospital, ultimately rejoining his family in New York, where they had decided to move.
Unprepared for a life of blindness in an unfamiliar city, Woodard reached out to the NAACP, who took up his case and turned him into something of a cause célèbre for a time --even meriting publicity from such luminaries as actor Orson Welles, and musicians Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday. Woodard found himself crisscrossing the very nation he had served, recounting his story and garnering some measure of fame, though this would be of no practical help during two failed attempts to bring his attackers to trial. The ultimate measure of Woodard's notoriety came in 1948 when President Truman issued Executive Order 9981, desegregating the U.S. Armed Forces (see Lesson #68 in this series).
Woodard's time in the national spotlight soon faded and he was faced with the more immediate problem of obtaining benefits from the VA --on a technicality, since his assault and blinding happened after his term of service, he did not qualify for full benefits nor payments. Woodard was forced into public housing in the Bronx but with his family's help was ultimately able to buy the building and became a landlord, living quietly and mostly forgotten for the next decade. In 1956 an article in Jet magazine brought some measure of national attention back to his plight and eventually led Congress to pass an amended piece of legislation that would now award full disability benefits to any veteran injured between their time of discharge and their arrival at home. Further legislative improvements to VA benefits followed in the 1970s, and Woodard was able to purchase additional property in the Bronx and lived there with his sons until his death in 1992. He is buried with other U.S. veterans at Calverton National Cemetery and a plaque now marks the site in Batesburg-Leeville where Woodard was attacked and dragged from his bus.
