Comment Challenge, August

We have a new Challenge for you! This time, the challenge is for writers and readers alike: support your favourite fanfics and fanfic authors by leaving a comment! Often times we want to show our appreciation to our favourite auther, but don't know what to say - but as every author will tell you, that's not important- every nice comment is a good comment!

Rules/Goals:

within the month of August, leave at least 15 different comments

be nice- the goal is to appreciate and support, not bash others

don't give unsolicited concrit- while well meant, it still includes critique, and some authors might feel discouraged by it. So only give concrit if the author states they are fine with it/ want it!

There are no rules about the length or elaborateness of the comments- no matter how unsure or awkward you feel with leaving comments, the important part is that you do! A small "I liked this, thanks!" is perfectly fine.

If you want to talk about this challenge with others, let yourself be inspired by comments that others have written, and/or track your progress, join our discord server! But most importantly: have fun!

Timberkon fanfictionlibrary drabble #2! This time featuring uni student Tim using his boyfriends as models for his photography assignment

Prompt: “I’m bored”

“I’m bored,” Kon said.

Tim smiled at him. “You’re doing great.”

Yeah, Kon sure hoped so. He and Bernard had been sitting in the same pose for what seemed like hours (Tim said it was only a few minutes) waiting for him to get the “perfect shot”.

Now, obviously he was happy to help Tim with his photography class, and he absolutely agreed that he and Bernard were the perfect models, however he was starting to get a bit restless and his legs were beginning to bounce.

“Lean on him a bit more, Bernard,” Tim said.

Bernard tilted his head further back against Kon’s shoulder and pressed himself into his side. Okay, the upside to this was that their pose required close physical contact with his boyfriend so! He wouldn’t complain about that.

“Great.”

Tim ducked behind his camera and took a few more shots.

“We’re done,” he announced. “You can do something fun if you want a silly photo. I won’t submit it but we need something to hang on these walls.”

Kon didn’t need to be told twice. Silly photos were his thing. He had stolen Tim’s camera to take them more than once, and the only reason he hadn’t been chewed out for it yet was because he always brought it back okay. Or maybe because he took a…definitely normal amount of Bernard and Tim photos, but whatever.

He turned to Bernard and grinned. “Can I kiss you?”

“Yes?”

“Upside down?”

Kon saw the recognition spark in Bernard’s eyes.

“Please,” Bernard confirmed.

So he did. He floated himself off the ground and upside down, coming face to face with Bernard, and kissed him.

He heard Tim laugh as the shutter went off.

Kon really hoped he had another photography assignment soon.

The Fanfic Communities Network

Fanfiction being stolen or plagiarized has sadly become a common occurence nowadays.

While there might not always be something the individual can do about it, we can at least inform people about it though.

Since reliable and verified information about incidents can be hard to find on social media etc., we want to be a network for information that has been gathered, analyzed and distributed to all parties interested in the form of informative and reliable reports.

This is the Fanfic Communities Network.

The initial idea for this server came to be after the rivd.net incident, where we reached out to other fanfic servers on Discord with the information they had so that they could inform their members.

So what do we hope to achieve?

- Gather, bundle and distribute information and news trustworthily and honestly.

- Make reliable and researched information accessible for fanfic communities.

- Bring fanfic communities together by giving them a space to learn about each other and find new communities.

- Additionally, offer a space to community modmins to exchange experience, ask for help and find likeminded people.

The server has a public area that is accessible for every person who is interested. We relay information publically and transparently.

The internal part of the server is accessible on application with your fanfic community or as a modmin of a fanfic community.

You are welcome to join and follow our announcement channels in your servers, or invite your members to join so that they can spread the info and join with their communities that they might have!

We have a new Challenge for you!

Every Season is Fanfic Season at the FFL, but this time every Season brings you a different flavour- it's time for the

FFL Four Seasons Challenge!

How it works:

Each Season comes with one of the major genres of fanfiction and five different prompts to choose from.

The Goal ist to write at least one work per Season, you can write more if you wish.

Each work has to be at least 500 words long

The prompt/trope has to be prominent in your work

The time for each genre is according to it's meteorologic Season: Angst > Fall: 22 September 2024 - 20 December 2024 Hurt/Comfort > Winter: 21 December 2024 - 19 March 2025 Fluff > Spring: 20 March 2025 - 19 June 2025 Smut/Crack > Summer: 20 June 2025 - 21 September 2025

As you might have noticed, Summer is a little special - we want to give everyone the chance finish the Challenge, including writers who don't feel comfortable with NSFW topics. That's why you can choose between two genres that month: Smut and Crack.

You can start preparing for this Challenge starting now- Angst Season is soon upon us! Fall is starting, the days get shorter, the weather gets colder - the prompts for Fall are:

We have a new Challenge for you!

We present you: the OTP Year Challenge!

Yes, you heard right: this Challenge runs for the entire year! It's all about your OTP (One True Pairing) - or several, if you have more than one ;)

Each month, you'll get one prompt that you can write a work (preferably a oneshot) for - interpreting the prompt however you want to, as long as it's a work about your OTPs! The goal is that you write one work per month, making it 12 works for your OTPs at the end of 2024.

If you missed the beginning, no need to worry, you can join in at any point! You don't need to have been there for it from the start.

The posting time for each prompt is for the duration of their month, but the collection will be open the entire year.

Additional Rules:

For each prompt, the word count has to be at least 500.

The prompts need to be kept and posted in order. You can skip a prompt. You can join in late.

Please do only post one work per prompt and per month. You have to name the prompt you used in the author's notes at the beginning. You do not need to make the prompt the title, but you can.

Any topic/trope/rating (so sfw/nsfw) that is within our server rules is allowed as long as you tag your work properly!!

Our Challenges are events in which we challenge our writers on the server to write fanfics for prompts, quote prompts, a certain tittle, a certain theme etc. and...

We have a new Challenge for you!

This challenge, which will run for the duration of april, is all about tropes - but not just any tropes. Nope!

Like how in April in the northern hemisphere the weather does what it wants, we did what we wanted and mixed up some tropes to bring some fresh wind into the world of tropes!

There are 10 reversed tropes for you to pick from. You need to write one to participate - but you can write for all of them if you like!

You can begin with planning and writing your work starting on the day of the announcement.

General rules:

For each trope work, the word count has to be at least 500 words. Whether you write a longfic, multichapter work or a oneshot is up to you.

You need to at least write for one trope. How many others you decide to write for is up to you!

You can't use two tropes in one work.

Tag Bundle Challenge, June

We have a new Challenge for you! In this challenge, you have to work with a tag bundle!

What's a tag bundle? It's a random combination of four AO3 tags. We have created a total of 10 bundles that you can pick from. You pick a bundle, let's say bundle 3, and then you have to use all four tags that are contained in bundle 3 in your fanfic!

Rules:

For a fanfic, the word count has to be at least 800 words.

You are required to write oneshots. One oneshot per tag bundle. You have to write at least one work for this challenge, you can write up to 10.

You can prepare your works starting with the announcement for this challenge. You are meant to use this time for the Tag Bundle Challenge.

Please do only post one work per day! You have to tag the tags as well as mention the bundle that you used in the author's notes at the beginning.

All four tags in a bundle must be clearly worked with and mentioned/used in your oneshot.

If your work happens to contain a tag of a different bundle, that's not an issue, as long as the tags of the original bundle you picked have the main focus.

Any topic/trope/rating (so sfw/nsfw) that is within our server rules is allowed as long as you tag your work properly!!

Songfic Challenge, April

We have a new Challenge for you! In this challenge, you get 5 songs, each representing a certain genre in the world of fanfiction, and you have to write a songfic inspired by one of them. (If you want to write a fanfic for each song, you can ofc write 5 fanfics!) Since all songs are instrumental, the interpretation is very open, as music affects everyone differently. But: You need to represent your interpretation of the chosen song as best as possible! Alternatively, you can use the son's title or a part of it as a prompt, and write for that, or do that and write for the song itself!

Rules:

For each prompt, the word count has to be at least 300 words.

Your songfic can use your interpretation of the song and/or the song title as a prompt!

Each song represents a certain genre - try to keep your work in that genre!

Please do only post one work per day! You have to name the song you used in the author's notes at the beginning. You do not need to make the song title the title of your work, but you can.

You have to write for at least one song, so post at least one fanfic. You can not use more than one song for one fanfic. You can post a work for every song if you want to.

Any topic/trope/rating (so sfw/nsfw) that is within our server rules is allowed as long as you tag your work properly!!

Due to the ongoing downtime of AO3 /not negative, we decided to mix our server's QOTW (Question of the Week) up a bit! Dear @ao3org - hang in there, you got this! Our thoughts and our support is with you! And: Kudos for all your hard work!! 🤗 --- Our QOTW: Yep - Ao3 is down for almost an entire day now, and almost all here miss it dearly. You know what they say: You'll see how much you took something for granted until you loose it. While we are all patiently waiting for the volunteers working for AO3 to bring the site back to functionality, I present you this week's QOTW - with two questions! Let's be real - except for this exceptional situation, AO3 runs very smoothly and reliably.

What do you like most about AO3?

There are people surely working their butt off to fend off the DDoS attack. They are volunteers, and they work hard for us right now. They deserve some nice words!
