I just started rewatching the anime and I saw the focus they kept on Lisanna hence my doubt. From Erza I felt it was more of a sibling type dynamic (that Erza sees Natsu and Gray more as her younger brothers) but they really pushed the Lisanna narrative in the beginning. And given the way he reacted differently to Lucy and Lisanna like becoming flustered with Lisanna I wondered.

Please do talk about the killing himself part too.

Hi!! I'm happy you liked it, I'm going to try and talk about Natsu and Lisanna a little bit more and then I'll start with the whole killing himself thing. (following this post)

I think the reason they focused on Natsu and Lisanna at the beginning is because a lot of studios/mangakas have the need to create a couple, even better if it's an MC. And pairing Lucy and Natsu up from the beginning doesn't make any sense, they just met and didn't know each other.

Lisanna is a really important person to Natsu, although they hardly interact anymore.

She supported Natsu when he first came to the guild and became his first friend. Not only that, she helped him with Happy, hence the whole wife and husband thing, they represented a family.

Natsu is not as stupid as they make him out to be, he knows what marriage is, exclusivity to a partner

and things only adults are supposed to do.

He knew what Lisanna meant by "we'll get married in the future," and if she had never "died," NaLi would have made sense.

But it happend, Lisanna "died" and Natsu had to get over her. This doesn't mean forget her tho, as I said, Natsu LOVES his family and friends, forgetting about lisanna just because she died would not make any sense. It takes time to accept death, and after Igneel's disappearance, the death of lisanne hit him, HARD.

The only thing he could do was getting over her, but not forgetting her.

And that's when Lucy comes into the picture.

She keeps bumping into him, buys him food for "no reason" and talks all mighty and good about his family, basically, she gives him good vibes. He takes her to FT and for some reason she follows him everywhere and before he knows it, he wants to partner up with her.

This is development by natsu's part, he is ready to open up to new people (Lucy) and pretty much they become attached to the hip, because "she is nice", yeah, that's his reason.

Lisanna wasn't meant to come back, mashima himself said so, the only reason they brought her back was because the animation staff preasured him to because they liked her. NaLi is not happening because Mashima never had anything planned for her, and I'm not saying this because I'm a NaLu fan, it's just facts. Thats why she is so useless in the manga, because mashima doesn't know what to do with her. She is just there.

Let's beging with the whole suicide thing

I want to clarify that this is MY PERSPECTIVE, you might agree or disagree with me and thats completely fine.

Let me beging with one thing, and that is that natsu IS NOT SUICIDAL.

He wants to live his life at the fullest and he looks forward to the future.

Then why do I say he wanted to kill himself? because when lucy "died", he was so full of grief that he just didn't care any more.

One thing that they make clear is that the demons of zeref, once awaken, have only one thought in their minds: KILLING ZEREF

Lucy's "death" is what awoke END, Natsu felt so desperate and he was so full of grief that he literally abandoned his humanity.

She was gone and he blamed zeref, because if he had never started the war, she would be alive, that was enough for him to abandon his morals and look forward to kill someone.

Now comes the important part: his confrontation with grey

This part is really important because it shows that Natsu is aware of his actions.

If he really was completely possessed by END, then he would not have hesitated and warn grey about getting out of his way, he would have just killed him and keep going, but Natsu warns him several times

Until he doesn't give a damn anymore and attacks him.

Natsu was adamant about going after zeref and killing him, but he is also aware that if he does so, he will die. Zeref told him so himself.

But lucy is dead, so he just doesn't care anymore.

Igneel talked to him about looking at the future

But Lucy wasn't in that future anymore, so he can't look forward for it, because it died the moment Lucy did. if she wasn't in it, why bother? He knew that killing zeref was killing himself.

Gray literally saved Natsus life confronting him

Imagine him and Lucy on their aventure, and they find an apple tree Natsu try to take a bite of an apple but Lucy screams ‘’WAIT Natsu that’s a Pokémon’’ and he thinks it’s so cool that a fruit is a Pokémon and would go for the bad ass evolution, cause he like powerhouse that look cool

Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest EP1

I know it’s nothing compared to the life long fans who have been with this series since the very start, but even after I binged watched it all in 2020, getting to see new episodes feels kinda surreal to me.

I may have watched everything in dub but even the original JP actors seem familiar and nostalgic.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve read through this arc so I don’t remember the name of this new girl who we absolutely need to be wary of, but the white curls unmistakably remind me of Bronya.

Touka bringing up all these ladies Gray has some sort of bond with, Cana included, just to get on Juvia’s nerves and Cana fires back with “my only boyfriend is this barrel” instantly. Love her.

Yesss be suspicious about this girl, Gajeel! She listed off way too many names and some real strange ones like Briar for someone just coming to the guild.

I do like how the main idea of this entire quest is like, oh remember Acnologia? Yeah, now go defeat five other dragons just as powerful.

I do not remember the cute walking jellyfish creatures at all but I’m not surprised Natsu somehow managed to eat one despite everyone’s warnings.

They’ve already reached Ermina.. why do I feel like that happened so quick? I really should revisit the manga again.

Detective Gajeel and Lily let’s gooo!

I adore how Juvia doesn’t even question Gajeel and his idea, just seeing the two former Phantom Lord members join forces in some kinda way makes me happy.

hi anon! thank you for the ask, i had a lot of fun with this one. i actually got a liiiiittle bit carried away and sort of ended up writing how they percieve their relationship as a whole, so theres a little bit of when they’re in their more-than-friends-but-less-than-lovers stage, and a little bit of when they’re dating too, so i hope thats okay! i just did some of the characters i thought would have the most to say about their relationship, but if you’d like to see other specific characters i wouldn’t mind doing another writeup :)

Happy

happy is the one person (cat?) that natsu would ever talk about his feelings for lucy with, but not even in like a serious way, in a very casual “hey i think i might be in love with lucy” way, and happy is like “yeah i know”

even though he loves to tease lucy and make fun of her and be a general pain in her ass, she’s his favourite person (aside from natsu), and he wants to have her stay in their lives forever

as much of a little shit he is, he never tells anyone what natsu told him, because he knows that he needs to go at his own pace, even if that pace is slow as shit

on one hand, he knows that natsu and lucy dating/getting married means that lucy is in fact stuck with them for the rest of her life, but on the other hand there’s a tiny insecure voice in the back of his head that’s scared that he’s gonna lose his best friend to her

obviously no that won’t happen because they both love happy, and them wanting to be alone sometimes have sex doesn’t mean that he’s going to be any less of a priority in their lives

natsu lucy and happy are just a little family and they’re going to be a family regardless of their relationship status, the two of them dating and moving in together is just a fun little bonus

Gray

gray was probably one of the first people to really pick up on the fact that natsu and lucy might be heading in the direction of more than friends

because of their forced close proximity growing up, and then again by being on the same team, he begrudgingly knows natsu really well, so he’s quick to pick up on how natsu treats lucy different from how he treats everyone else

in terms of him figuring out how lucy feels about natsu, it’s really more of and educated guess at first because he obviously doesn’t know her as well as he knows natsu, and the way she changes once she figures out she’s in love with natsu comes off as a lot more subtle

gray is not invested in anything that is going on in natsu’s life, so he doesn’t give their relationship any thought until it becomes super obvious to him that lucy is in love with natsu

he recognises that lucy makes natsu a better, and more tolerable person

but he also absolutely thinks that lucy can do way better than him

it takes him a while to get past his “what the fuck does she even see in him” phase, but he does inevitably realise that somehow, natsu makes her really happy

will absolutely remind natsu at any given opportunity that lucy is waaaayyy out of his league

Erza

if gray was the first to figure it out, then erza was the last

not because she’s dumb or anything, it’s just that most of the time she spends with natsu and lucy involves mass amounts of property damage

also maybe autism, but thats a whole different post

once she is informed that natsu and lucy have a more than friends thing going on, she starts to see it constantly

she begins to interpret literally any of their interactions as possibly having romantic intent (she’s just like us <3)

she can’t look either of them in the eye for like two weeks while she tries to figure out if they’re having sex (they’re not, they just have an insane amount of sexual tension)

natsu is basically her baby brother and she feels a lot of pride watching him grow up and fall in love, and become a more mature person in the process

she’s just rooting for them so hard because! that’s her family! she wants them both to be happy!

she drops the most obvious hints that she wants to see them in a relationship, thinking that she is being so subtle, but she is NOT 

has to physically hold herself back from planning their wedding as soon as they become official

Wendy

natsu, lucy and wendy, as a trio are giving very much “girl who hangs out with her older brother and his much cooler girlfriend” vibes

for a little bit wendy thought that maybe they were actually dating, but she didn’t want to overstep or embarrass them by asking

she’s witness to a lot of gossip about the two in the girls dorm, but she’s never one to contribute to it

very quietly she does think they would make a cute couple because they already act like one anyway

natsu and lucy are also like, her primary reference for what a good, healthy romantic relationship looks like, and secretly she really hopes that she gets to experience what they have one day

Levy

if lucy is confiding in anyone about her feelings, it’s going to be levy

so she is the only one that is watching them knowing for 100% sure how lucy feels

she wants to see lucy in a happy relationship so bad because she wants the best for lucy, but she’s also tired of her going on shitty dates with boring guys who they both know aren’t right for her

levy definitely isn’t close to natsu, but they still did grow up in the guild together and she’s watched him go from a lone wolf to needing to be around lucy at all times

so yeah, she has an inkling that maybe natsu likes her back, and she lets lucy know what she thinks every time he’s bought up

she definitely gossips about them to gajeel, who pretends he doesn’t care but he secretly does because even though he pretends to be all big and tough, those two are still part of his dumb stupid found family

The Case for Fairy Tail’s Death Fake-Outs

I think Craftsdwarf put it best in how Manga like Fairy Tail often utilize these shocks to increase reader interest since they often live or die by the brutalities of the Manga industry.

Even so, these moments can feel more than a little… clickbait-y where they're leading you on. However, I feel like giving a lot of these their due. As what they lack in actual character loss, they make up for it in character gain.

1. Erza merges with the Tower of Heaven which would kill here and seemingly sees a future where her guildmates are coming apart at the seams over her passing, least of all being Natsu.

She doesn't die but it gives her the perspective needed to make progress as a character when she sees what she means to others. It fits with an arc that's all about facing her past demons and letting others into her heart.

2. Lyon seemingly blowing up with Racer works to show how he’s truly turned over a new leaf after being Gray’s nemesis.

3. Perhaps Wendy’s defining moment for me was when F.A.C.E. had to be exploded on sight by Carla. Yes, her kicking Ezel’s ass with Dragon Force was a sight to behold but it was afterwards that cemented her growth and cemented my adoration for her.

Wendy could’ve ran away herself or, more likely, grabbed Carla and got to safety. However, she realized at the time that FACE needed to be stopped before it was too late. So she choose to stay with her closest friend and do what would’ve likely killed her. Not because she thought herself as disposable but because she knew she was valuable. As a friend. As a wizard.

Fans may complain that Doranbolt’s rescue undermines this moment but her dying wasn’t the point. It was her having the bravery to not abandon Carla to die alone, her bravery to face certain death for the sake of stopping Tartaros. She never accounted for any last minute rescues. This was it as far as she was concerned.

4. Now for the Alverez Arc, starting with Gajeel. Bloodman’s suicide attack incites a moment not unlike Erza’s above where Gajeel takes stock of his life in what seems to be the end of it. It highlights how he went from a rebel without a cause to a true Fairy Tail guildmate as well as cement his love for Levy.

5. Juvia and Lucy’s both are similar but also incite Gray’s eventual confrontation with Etherious Natsu Dragneel, leading to a sort of closure for the former young man.

6. The only real one that does rub the wrong way is that of Makarov’s supposed final Fairy Law casting. Part of it does come from how while the other characters feel like there’s more to gain from them, the Guild Master himself has always been an older father figure with all the cornerstone’s a of Mentor.

The Mentor death, be it at the beginning or near end of a story, is cliched... but for good reason. In a coming of age story, this is the metaphorical moment where the characters can’t fall back on any wise, old coots for emotional or battle support.

This does feel like a weird editorial mandate considering how much time had passed between his presumed death and his revival. Maybe if he was shown to be sick and said to have been in a coma where there was no telling if he’d pull through, that’d at least work.

It’s not as deal breaking as some make it out to be but I do see how it would sour people on this arc. The better kind are the ones that less so make us hope they made it out or at least give us some character growth. Less so are like, “Yeah, I survived so let’s move on.”

Starting off, I don't ship Graylu or Grayza (Nalu and Jerza ftw!) but I believe Gray had crush on both Lucy and Erza once. Gemini revealed in Oracion Seis arc that Lucy is Gray's type. And if we try to find similarities in Erza and Lucy, there are quite a few :

Both are level-headed and mature while also being absolute dorks at times. Of course, they're the prettiest too. They both have what it takes to keep the team in check, they're passionate about their friends and lastly, they both respect the boundaries of their respective lovers(Natsu and Jellal) despite both having been shown to have clear crush them. They are willing to wait for the right time.

That's Gray's type. Lucy and Erza are everything Juvia isn't nor can she ever be. She isn't Gray's type at all. She has been forced upon him. She doesn't have many friends, she doesn't respect personal boundaries, she is over possessive to the extent of attacking and wishing bad for others, she's even jealous of Wendy, a kid who happens to be like Gray's younger sibling, Frosch, an exceed even. Which is utterly disgusting. That's not the woman Gray wanted but unfortunately got. Would bring rain upon an entire town because of her own emotions.

She shouldn't exist honestly.

I actually really love how you ship differently than me, (I mean not really, since I ship Nalu and Jerza as well, just in how you don't ship Gralu) but that you're able to look at the manga/anime objectively! That's seriously a skill so many fans don't have.

You're not being delusional like some Pro gr///vians are when they try to claim juvia and Natsu are best friends, or that Gray and Lucy act like siblings so shipping them would be inc*st. (Seeing 2 characters as a BROTP is totally fine, but what's not fine is claiming that shipping them would be inc*st. And yet, some Pros claim it to make Gralu shippers look bad.)

Anyway, the thing you're looking at objectively here is that Gray seems to canonically have had a crush on both Lucy and Erza, and I agree, despite also not shipping Grayza! Gray thought both were strong and beautiful. It shows us hints at a crush on Erza in that one episode where Gray thought she looked beautiful while she was sleeping, and maybe the flashback one where Gray kinda blushed as kids when Erza idr cried or something. And then yeah, you mention it right, Gemini showed how highly Gray views Lucy and how she's the "whole package". And then throughout the show, Gray shows how hot he finds Lucy, and blushes several times, like the time he was looking for her in her house, or in the Tower of Heaven, or in the Key of the Starry Heaven arc where he imagined her in an outfit made of paper etc. Anyway, those were just some supporting examples of what you were saying.

I totally agree with you about the similarities Erza and Lucy share! Oh wow, every point is just so perfect. They're both smart, hard-working, lively and fun, they're strong, and they're loving. And you're darn right that they're the prettiest of them all! I especially love how you bring attention to how they are both willing to wait for the right time for their respective partners! That's such a good point: they put their love interest above their own desires.

And yeah, that's the exact opposite of what juvia is. she puts what she wants first, disregarding anyone it hurts, namely most of all Gray, the fricking object of her affection. That goes against all the morals the whole story of Fairy Tail tries to extol onto its watchers and readers, where you should be giving it all for your friends, that you'll put them first. But Mashima decided to completely dump that moral when it comes to juvia and make selfish, jealous, delusional, obsessive romantic "love" a virtue.

I agree, there is no reason juvia exists. she shouldn't in the first place. she doesn't make Gray's life better (she's literally ruining him), she doesn't make Fairy Tail a better place (she antagonizes all the women, even literal children and creatures of other species like you mention, Anon), and she certainly doesn't make her own life better through being a horrible person and manipulating and forcing an unwilling man to be her lover (not that I care that she's ruining her own life, it just goes to show that she's helping no one out).

SUMMER 2010 J-dorama watchlist!

After that uneventful Spring 2010 j-dorama season (where only ONE series "passed" my criteria….)

I'm so HAPPY to know there are a lot of shows worth watching this season! :)

I've only been following 3 so far, and am about to watch the 4th one to see if it is "worth it" HAHAHA :P

Those 3 (and the reasons why I've decided to watch them) are:

Hotaru no Hikari 2

I've seen the first season of this romantic comedy. And comparing the korean to the japanese romcoms… I think this is the one that can be classified as closest to being Korean. This series is HILARIOUS. Starring Fujiki Naohito and Ayase Haruka… well. I just LOVE their chemistry on screen. Also, both are talented actors.. specially Fujiki Naohito (who I've seen play MANY roles..yet.. this one is DEFINITELY the MOST hilarious one!)

Aside from the continuation of the 1st series, the reason I've decided to watch this is because the "other" guy will be played by none other than Mukai Osamu… and he's portraying the role that REALLY suits him (kinda same role as the one in Atashinchi no Danshi and Bambino! ..though of course I don't mind him playing the bad/serious guy.. but still, this kind of role suits him BETTER).

I think I like season 2 better than season 1.. at least based on the first few episodes anyway. :) I'm not a fan of romcoms (that are not the shoujo manga type) much but.. I suppose this is an exception.

Moyashimon

THOSE MICROBES ARE SO CUTE! Hahaha.. I just fell in love with them that I even decided to watch the anime version (after YEARS of anime fandom hiatus). I'm also planning to read the manga chapters when I find time..

Anyhow, aside from the microbes… the series is just ridiculous. I hate to say it, but that's how I see it. It is.. OUTRAGEOUS… kinda in the same "feel" to it as Yukan Club, Mei-chan no Shitsuji, and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge.

I'm not a fan of random storylines so maybe that's why I don't like this one as much. But the microbes are really oh so cute. >.>

HAMMER SESSION! You know how sometimes you get exposed to artists and you don't end up liking them right away? ..But in the end.. you DO (after months and years) ..kinda like saying "That artist grew up on me"

WELL. This happened. AGAIN. (The first occurence was.. my ichiban.. who I kinda ignored in Gokusen 3.. but anyway. back to the topic)

For the second time, it has happened. With Hayami Mokomichi. DUE TO THIS SERIES! LOL.

-Hammer Session is like……. Gokusen, Dragon Zakura, and Kurosagi COMBINED.

DO YOU KNOW HOW AWESOME THAT IS!!!!!! LOL.

-aside from Mokomichi Hayami (who I also kinda ignored in Gokusen 2 [I swear, Gokusen.. the starting point of all ikemen leading men]). Shida Mirai also stars in this series.

She's definitely grown. In a positive way. I'd like to see her become kinda like Toda Erika. XD

Higa Manami is also a part of this, and having seen her in Code Blue, Code Blue 2, and Majo Saiban.. I'm confident she'll bring a different flavor into the mix that is HAMMER SESSION. :D :D :D

As for the others I have YET to check out, here are a few info on them (also I'll only include the artists I've encountered before):

Unubore Deka - detective story, comedy starring Nagase Tomoya of TOKIO, Ikuta Toma, Kaname Jun, and Nakashima Mika

Tetsu no Hone - moral dilemma story starring Koike Teppei (aaaw.. he's starting to go for mature roles..)

JOKER Yurusarezaru Sosakan - hero by day, fugitive by night kind of story (Anne and Nishikido Ryo are co-starring too)

Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku - romance.. Matsujun stars (well, Matsujun and romance.. not his fan but.. Matsujun and romance? All too good to pass up)

Gakeppuchi no Eri - self-determination story starring Yamada Yu (probably won't watch this, but we'll see)

Already 3 episodes a week, and 5 other tentative follows.

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gonna enjoy this season!!!! YEAH!! :]

FAIRY TAIL HEADCANONS— facts about the dragneel siblings

NOTES: enjoy! Just something that I made to tide ya over until more oneshots come out. I’m working on stuff for other fandoms, and I wanted to write something for Fairy Tail again, even if it is kinda small compared to other content I create. I can't remember if I've said this before, but here is the order of the children's births; natsuko & asher, alizeh, edrei & kazuo, keina, and himeko (so she's the baby of the family). 

WARNINGS: very brief mentions of depression, mentions of a character losing their arm.

NATSUKO FAYN DRAGNEEL:

Natsuko sings in the shower. 

She’ll deny it to the end of time, but she sings in the shower (she has a voice that’s similar to Hayley Williams’, the lead singer of Paramore btw, voice). 

So Natsu and Gray getting at each other’s throats can be aggravating at times as well as amusing

But let’s add hotheaded Natsuko in the mix :) and shit does she clap back xD

Natsuko likes to challenge Edrei to fights (which Edrei does not entertain lol). 

To everyone’s surprise, Natsuko isn’t a huge fan of spicy foods. 

She much rather prefers sour or savory foods. 

Also, she really likes kinesthetic activities. 

ASHER IGNEEL DRAGNEEL:

Likes to challenge Alizeh to fights because of the fact that she’s so stoic and doesn’t show a reaction. 

Probs challenge her to fights every other day I’m not even kidding.

*cue Ali walking away and ignoring her older brother*

Secretly sleeps with a plushy that Himeko gave him when she was really young. 

Really likes sushi 

LOVES earrings and flannels

ALIZEH MIKA DRAGNEEL:

Really likes strawberry milk 

And lace. Ali really likes lacy things. Not too much lace, but just enough. 

Drinks any type of wine and cocktails when she’s older and obviously of legal age. 

Wears beanies religiously 

Has a soft spot for Himeko 

Honestly, Ali is a relatively apathetic person. This stems from her experience with depression.

Speaking of depression, she was diagnosed with it when she was at the age of nine. 

Hates long sleeves and blue jeans. 

She would rather wear tops and skirts or dresses. Tops and skirts are usually her go-tos though.

EDREI KIMIKA DRAGNEEL:

She doesn’t like bees.  

Like at all. 

Yeah, bees may be dying at an alarming rate, as the memes state, but Edrei Kimika Dragneel does not give a doggy style damn because she hates bees (honestly wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, and all of those motherfuckers are scarier than bees but okay—). 

When Edrei is older, like in her mid-twenties, she ends up losing her right arm during a very horrible fight and she had to get it amputated and replaced with a prosthetic arm. 

Hums to herself a lot.  

Sometimes she’ll sing, but after Natsuko walked in on her singing while putting some books away in the library of Fairy Tail, Edrei has been more cautious about others being around her before she sings a few notes. 

If you’re wondering, her singing voice is similar to Ariel Bloomer from the band Icon For Hire.

KAZUO REN DRAGNEEL:

He’ll sometimes wear glasses

But he doesn’t like wearing them tbh. 

He finds glasses annoying but he won’t change to contacts because he’s scared of anything being in his eyes. 

Kazuo reads a lot of books. 

In fact, he has read so many books that he’s probably read all of the books in the library of both Ice Wind AND Fairy Tail 

And those libraries are fucking HUGE. 

Plays chess and checkers with Keina 

Really likes wearing rings 

He falls asleep fastest in a cold, dark room.  

Really good at math 

Doesn’t like social studies because the things that are taught in schools are fabricated (which is actually true, especially in USA schools.)

KEINA MAEKO DRAGNEEL:

They’ll beat anyone at chess or checkers 96% of the time. 

Natsuko challenges Keina to fight her but Keina just ignores her as Ali does to Asher.  

Keina is the strategist of the family, next to Kazuo and Edrei. 

Keina actually ends up getting a magic-centric illness that puts her in a life-threatening situation (Fairy Tail and Ice Wind didn’t know what illness it was, so it was a race against time). 

Keina is really really bad at remembering names, so they’ll just give nicknames to the people they don’t know the names of or they’ll say something like “hey, you, come over here for a minute.” 

Doesn’t like her middle name. No one knows why and she doesn’t talk about it. She just says “It doesn't fit me.” Or “I don't like it.”

They have matching earrings with Ali. Ali has the purple bow earrings, while Keina has the white bow earrings. Ali got them for her sibling on their birthday one year.

HIMEKO MAIYA DRAGNEEL:

This girl loves rice balls 

And I mean LOVES rice balls. 

“DON’T YOU DARE STEAL MY RICE BALLS, ASHER!”

Always has her hair in pigtails 

Adores pearls, it’s her favorite gemstone

Her favorite color is white. Her second favorite color is pink. 

When Himeko was younger (like toddler years to five or six years old), Alizeh and Edrei would help her bathe. 

Himeko is the angel and baby of the Dragneel family 😇 

This means that she is often very protected by her older siblings since she’s the youngest.

Himiko can still hold her own though oh my god 😮✋🏼

Well in my opinion 100 year quest is...ok. Like I do think it has the feel of the original FT, and it does do good things for some of the characters. Lucy has actual AMAZING fights where this time she's allowed to shine without Natsu, Wendy is cool, etc. But it definitely has issues, some people complain about how focus filled it is on solely Team Natsu, the shipping stuff has really amped up and Gray has.....well, all of his storylines in this manga are about Juvia lol

Yeah that's the feel I got from the spoilers I've seen. It seems very ship-focused. Obviously, I can't judge since I haven't read it, but, personally, I think it could make sense for Gray to be closer to Juvia to some degree considering his last few storylines of the original manga but I'm not a big fan of the idea of him focusing solely on his girlfriend. One of the things that I love and I've been observing on my rewatch is how much Gray cares about Erza and Lucy and he is their ~more mature~ and caring friend. Same for Natsu, but in a less mature way lol

Juvia Lockser In My Headcanons

In my au, Gruvia, is not, and will never be canon, but they will be friends, not bestfriends.

Juvia does continue to speak in third person, but the whole "Stalker, who respects no boundaries," just goes away.

Juvia is Aro/Ace, like water. Juvia has never really craved romance she just needed love, not romantic but platonic it only really came to her about that when she joined the guild.

You know, Juvia being neglected and alone since childhood and then she sees romantic love in action, it in her point of view is being loved but when it came to that she never had any actual romantic attraction towards her exes, she just felt "loved" but they'd all leave her because of her rain, she only liked looks, the men she's been with were decent looking except Bora, I have no idea how they even met.

Joining Phantom Lord felt no different, she was in a guild but the only people who she really talked to were Sol, or whatever that weird looking man was and 𝐆𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐞𝐥, other than that she kept to herself.

Then in Fairy Tail, she was content with everyone, they still viewed her as a enemy y'know because of her FORMER affiliation with Phantom Lord but she really proves that she'd do anything for the guild, and so y'know Cana spreads the word, people get a bit more comfortable with Juvia and she is happy with that.

Gray was someone that saved her life, and she was thankful because his kindness felt so rare to her, foreign, unlike everyone else who neglected her and would let her drop, he saved her, so she views him as a great person someone she can look up to, Juvia take my advice, don't, you'd be calling out Iced Shell almost every time a week.

Juvia is like the mother of the guild, not really but sort of, she has the motherly energy, the guys keep her away from Loke not because they fear he'd tried to flirt with Juvia, no that's actually why, Juvia is someone who needs to be protected.

I'm not really a fan of Mashima's Juvia and how he views romance, I don't stand for it in any shape or form, and the way he fucks up her character is just bad.

Juvia is apart of Team Shadow Gear

Levy, Jet, Gajeel and Droy are her partners and they get along, she and Droy have nature connected powers and so they like to interact, ofc she and Gajeel are close but she teases him about his crush on Levy, which he'll deny but stop later on, Levy and Juvia talk, a lot, like Juvia and Levy would be in the background questioning Lucy about her and Natsu while Lucy is blushing but telling how she feels about him. Juvia will team up with Lucy or Wendy, sometimes Erza and Gray but with Natsu that is rare, their styles and powers are different, but they work with it but it just doesn't work all the time.

Juvia: I catch them, you hit them.

Natsu: Alright.

Juvia does not get weaker, her love for her guild and previous power make her stronger, and she has a good amount of methods to deal with her enemies, water lock them, use her water body to confused weak minded men, and use water sources to her advantage, she's strong against fire users, not Natsu all that much, but fire users.

Juvia speaks in french when she gets angry.

You know Sol, weird eye glass man? Yeah they still talk. Sol is out and about, traveling and what not, but he teaches her a bit of french and it stays in her memories.

She calls people imbeciles instead of anything else, refuses to, unless she uses some other fancy word.

Forever twenty something, Cache or Channel— whatever, “oh, uh-uh, no way,” he jerked them to a halt. “I ain’t going in there.”

“It’s just Victoria’s Secret.”

“Well Victoria can keep her secret. Lucy you’re crazy if you think I’m going in a women’s lingerie store!”

Lucy turned to face, then grabbed both of Natsu’s hands, holding them together close to her chest. “Please,” her eyes begged. “I need you to tell me what you think will be nice on me.”

Thinking about his girl, in lingerie, while standing in a mall was *not* the image Natsu wanted conjuring in his mind. But between the soft, puppy-dog expression, and her whimpering pleading— he was powerless to turn Lucy down. He sighed with a whine. “Fine. I’ll go.”

“Yay!” She giggled, kissed his cheek, and took his hand again, entwining their fingers together. “I’ll make it as painless as possible.”

Yeah, uh-huh, right… Painless.

As they walked down the rows and racks of lingerie, Natsu hummed in his head as a distraction. Bras, panties. Low cut, high cut, thongs, g-strings. Sets, individual pieces. Lace, satin, cotton. So many choices! He let the colors blend in his vision, the scents of brand-new clothing mixed with perfumes sold, or miscellaneous accessories. How do women pick anything when there’s so many options? Give him a t-shirt and jeans and he was good to go.

Every so many picks, Lucy would ask his opinion. ‘Yeah, that’s nice. No, that looks itchy. I like that color. Eww, it doesn’t match you.’ Finding her size in the styles she wanted wasn’t always easy, but after 30 minutes, Lucy had half a dozen or so items to try on. So, they head towards the fitting rooms.

Natsu stopped in front of the doors, and readied himself to stand around and wait—

“You’re coming in with me.” Lucy tugged on his hand. “I need your final opinion.”

Up until now, Natsu had managed to avoid thinking about anything even remotely related to sex, but now?! “Uh-uh, no way!”

“Please…” Lucy turned on the pouty lip-action and puppy-dog eyes again. “It’s not like you won’t see me in them later.”

Natsu gulped hard as the naughty images were unlocked. “Are you trying to kill me in public?”

This one could easily fit them both, with wrap around mirrors to catch every angle. It had a small, cushioned bench along one wall, and a couple of hooks on the inside of the door. But most noteworthy was the fact it was a fully enclosed room— not those partial-length doors at lower-quality stores. It was very, very private.

Natsu sat down on the bench and closed his eyes while Lucy fiddled with her options. He could hear the plastic and metal hangers going up on the hooks, as well as the sounds of his girlfriend shedding her clothing. His mouth suddenly felt dry… Lucy’s voluptuous body bared for him to see with only her regular panties left on— he squeezed his eyes tighter shut. ‘Don’t think about it! Don’t think about it!’

The Wilds - Chapter 2: The Others

Chapter 2: The Others

“The others! They are over here.”

Juvia and Natsu looked up and saw a group of six rushing from the other side of the beach, coming in their direction.

Lucy squinted her eyes at the group and stood to her feet quickly with a loud squeal escaping her lips. “Levy!” She yelled rushing towards the group.

Juvia noticed a thin girl with similar blue hair like her own but much shorter, began to run towards them. “Lucy!” The two girls embraced each other as they let out loud wails for the current situation.

Even Natsu seemed to know someone from the group as he ran up to a scarlet-haired woman who was leaning in the arms of another boy with a red face tattoo. Juvia noticed the way she kept all her weight on her right foot. She must have hurt herself during the crash, Juvia took note.

Natsu lifted the girl in his arms into a bear hug and the girl slowly returned his affections, it was clear she was not a fan of skinship but given the circumstances she allowed it.

As Juvia said earlier, a few of them were lucky enough to come with someone they loved, but others were not as fortunate.

Juvia moved toward the young girl and held her shoulders softly to make sure she was stable. The little girl didn’t move, she just reached up to grasp Juvia’s hand, taking in the comfort she felt from the older girl's warmth.

Once everyone who knew each other settled down and Natsu was moving to set the red-haired down, she momentarily forgot about her injured foot and grunted in pain.

“You need a wrap,” Juvia spoke and instantly moved into action, she tore the end of her shirt, exposing her midriff but she was too concerned about the girl to care. She dropped to her knees as she began to use the fabric as a tight bandage on the girl's impaired foot.

Surprised by Juvia’s sudden moves the girl jerked herself away but Juvia held her leg in place. “You need to get the swelling down. This wrap with help until we can find something to use as a split.”

“You can trust her Erza, she risked her life out there just trying to help pull the little one to shore, did CPR and everything.” Natsu ensured. The fire-haired girl only nodded in response so Juvia continued her work.

Juvia felt her cheeks flush as she felt everyone watched her tend to the other girl. Satisfied with her work she rose to her feet, pushing her hair back from her face and releasing a big huff of air.

The young girl from before moved to stand next to Juvia again but she hid behind the older girl, not from fear but because she was shy. Juvia didn’t look at her but she did reach her hand behind her to provide the girl some comfort. “How does that feel?” Juvia asked.

“It still hurts, but it's better.”

Juvia smiled and nodded, pleased to hear she helped.

“So what do we do now?” A pink-haired girl from the back of the group asked.

“We wait for a rescue team to pick us up,” Lucy spoke quickly.

“Will they even know to find us?” she challenged.

“They have to know? Once the plane doesn’t reach the destination people will start to question- right?”

“Yeah, people are going to find out something happened.” Levy agreed.

“So what you want us to just sit here and wait until rescue possibility comes and people eventually remember us?” A guy with long black hair and face piercings growled.

“Yes? It’s not going to take long, Lucy’s dad is one of the richest men in all of Fiore, if she doesn’t show, he isn’t going to leave a stone unturned to find her.”

“Levy!” Lucy snapped, clearing not being a fan of Levy exposing her family status to a group of strangers.

“What? It’s true, it’s only a matter of time before he sends rescue ships and helicopters to find you.”

“Yeah? And how will they know where to look? We lost both engines, assuming communication before the plane even crashed, there is no saying they will even know where to look for us or when our plane fell off the grid.” He stalked closer to the girls in anger, towering over them.

“So sure we can wait for the little princess’ daddy to come and find us, but that could take hours, days, maybe even weeks. We need to be realistic and think about the now.”

The two girls nodded and the boy turned away while rolling his eyes. “You didn’t need to be so mean about it,” Levy mumbled under her breath, but if the boy heard it, he choose to ignore it.

A clap filled the awkward silence as a boy who also had black hair stepped into the middle of the group. Juvia hadn’t noticed him before, he had a scar above his left brow, not from the crash though, this scar seemed old, his eyes were droopy and Juvia couldn’t help herself from thinking he was cute.

“Okay, well we need to set ups some sort of camp, preferable start building a shelter. If the metal face is right we need to take things seriously.” He turned toward the other man holding a hand out as if to say no offense. He continued talking before the short-fused boy could reply. “Clearly not everyone is in the best condition to help.” he motioned towards the little girl who still leaned on Juvia for support and Erza who still was unable to rest her full weight on both feet. “Those who are injured should just rest and those who can move should split up tasks. We need to find a water source and food, and most importantly we need to start a fire. It may be hot now but once the sun goes down we are going to be freezing our asses off.”

“Leave the fire to me, I’ve been making fires since I was a kid.” Natsu cheered raising his hand eagerly earning a few questioning glares. “What? My dad and I would go camping all the time. He thought me how to make a fire.”

“Okay….well that settles the fire, we still need to cover water, food, and shelter.”

“Levy and I will try to look for some food, maybe some fruit.”

“Juvia can look for water, Juvia can bring back firewood as well for Natsu-san.”

“I can go with her, I might have my own injuries that need wrapping.” A man with dark navy hair joked, raising suggested eyes to Juvia making her face drop as if she had smelt something gross.

“Uh…how about you, Jellal, and angry over here start trying to find the things we need to build a shelter.”

Juvia was thankful for the boy’s quick dismissal of the older guy's grotesque comment, not bothering to respond she turned and began to move the younger girl to a log that laid under the shady of a tree. She carefully sat down the young girl and turned to move in the direction of the trees in hopes to find water but a small hand grabbed hers. “Juvia….”

The young girl started at Juvia with scared eyes. “Are you coming back?”

Juvia knelt next to her and softly brushed the hair from the girl's forehead. She noticed how sweaty she was but blamed it on the scorching heat of the sun. “What is your name?” Juvia asked.

“Wendy”

“Well Wendy-san, Juvia will come back as soon as she can. So don’t worry.” She pressed her lips to the little girl's head before standing up to head in the direction of the trees. Maybe it was because she saved her life, maybe Juvia reminded her of someone out in the real world but for whatever reason the young girl chose to depend on Juvia. She felt her heart swell at the thought, she never had someone depend on her for anything.

She was too lost in her thoughts to notice the slight dip in the ground, almost sending her tumbling down until a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her back up. She gasped at the sudden movement and looked back at the owner whose hands were on her. It was the boy from earlier, the one with the scar.

Juvia couldn’t help herself from blushing at their position. “Thank you.” She whispered, their faces weren’t that far apart and Juvia was once again looking at his eyes, they were blue, darker than hers but blue nonetheless and they drooped to the side in sharp edges . His hair was spiky and spilling over his forehead. Her hand clenched the fabric on his shoulder, she must have grabbed it without realizing it when he helped her from falling.

“You should be careful.” He replied softly. From his wandering eyes, Juvia could tell he was examining her as well. “So your name is Juvia?”

“Yes.”

“I’m Gray.”

“Hi Gray-sama”

“Just Gray.”

“Uh Gray-sama, maybe you can let go of Juvia now.” He looked down surprised, as if he forgot he was holding her, quickly releasing her from his grasp and suddenly Juvia found herself missing his warmth despite being the one to ask him to release her. She began to walk through the trees, continuing her plans on finding water while picking up decently sized sticks for Natsu’s fire along the way.

Gray cleared his throat awkwardly, running towards her at a lazy pace. “Huh Juvia, I actually wanted to say something,” He bent forward to join her in picking up sticks.

“Hmm?”

“It’s about Wendy-”

“You know Wendy-san?” Her interest certainly peeked.

“Yes…I mean no, I sat next to her on the plane. When it was going down, she was so scared—” He held out his hands to show her his proof. Juvia's eyes widened, she instinctively grabbed his palms and rubbed across the puncture marks left from Wendy's nails. “—I don’t even think she realized she was doing it, I mean she’s just a kid.” He softly pulled his hands away and rubbed the back of his neck.

“When I was in the water I tried looking for her but I couldn’t find her so I swam to shore. I met with the others, and then we met with you guys and I saw she was fine, then the pink hair boy-”

“Natsu” Juvia quickly interjected. She took in ever word carefully, you could tell by his rambling that he was not one to share his thoughts or feelings often. She tried to get her face expressionless and keep her blush at bay as serious as he was Juvia found it hard to be amused by his nervousness. She refrained from meeting his gazing, despite being good at eye contact, she didn’t want to make Gray more uncomfortable than he already seemed to be, so she continued working on picking up wood and looking out for water.

“Yeah, Natsu-” he qucikly corrected himself. “-he said you risked your life getting her to shore and you did CPR–” Juvia was bending down to grab another stick when Gray reached out and spun her around to face him. This is when Juvia finally saw his resolve.

His fingers wrapped around her arms to keep her in place, needing her to truly see what her actions meant to him. “So thank you. I’m serious Juvia. Not many people would have done what you did in your situation, they would have left her if it meant saving themselves.” After saying his piece he was going to let her go, but this time it was Juvia who grabbed him.

“Gray-sama would have done the same and like you said, she is just a little kids, Juvia couldn’t leave Wendy-san out there. She’d do it again if she had to.”

They stared at each other intently, basking in the warmth around them until a twig snapped somewhere on the left of them and the same navy haired guy from eariler emerged into the clearing causing Gray and Juvia step away from each other awkwardly.

“Natsu got the fire going, but said we would need more wood if we wanted to keep the fire going through the night. You know Juvia, I can help you find some wood, maybe get lost a bit huh?” He smirked, giving Juvia the same suggestive look he gave her on the beach, wiggling his right brow that was under an odd looking tattoo.

Successfully, making the pair feel uncomfortable, Juvia rolled her eyes at his attempt to flirt, piercing her lips and releasing a scuff.

“Actually we were already heading back so we will just meet you there.” Gray responded, effectively sending the guy back to the others. She grabbed her bundle of wood from the ground and waited for him to be out of ear shot.

“He gives Juvia the creeps.”

“I can’t say I know him well, but…same” Gray’s eyes narrowed as he watched the other man walk away from them. He gently nudged Juvia with his wood. “Come on, let's go, before he tries to come back.”

When Juvia and Gray came back they combined their bundles of wood together in a stack, and quickly joined the circle everyone sat in. Juvia reclaimed her spot beside Wendy, the younger blue-haired girl instantly tucking herself into Juvia’s side while clutching her arms around herself. Juvia looked down at the girl and smiled, had these been at a normal setting you would have thought the two girls were sisters.

“You know, we have been here for half a day, but I don't think I know everyone’s name.” Lucy said clasping her hands together. “We should all take turns introducing ourselves! I’ll go first, my name is Lucy.” the golden hair girl then motion to the right of her. “Go!”

“Levy.”

“Natsu.”

“Gray.”

“Erza.”

“Jellal.”

“Bora.”

“Meredy.”

“Gajeel.”

“Juvia.”

….

“Wendy-san.” Juvia looked down to her side “Wendy-san are you okay?” She reached out to the girl and flenched at how cold she felt.

Juvia swiftly moved her position to face the girl and took quick notice the grunting noises she made and her face showing she was in pain. Her face look paler than before and her hair stuck to her forehead from her beads of sweat.

“My stomach hurts.” Wendy replied, shivering. Juvia touched the girl's abdomen slightly but she jerked in pain, causing the older mage to grow concerned.

All eyes were on them as Juvia slowly lifted the younger girls shirt up exposing a dark contusion along the girl’s stomach. The blue and purple bruising as a result of internal bleeding undoubtedly from the crash.

Levy and Lucy gasped holding their hands over their mouths at the grotesque sight. “Juvia?” the young girl whispered, her voice laced with pain.

Juvia felt a lump in her throat as she quickly pulled Wendy’s shirt down while also making sure not to hurt her. Dread twisted in her gut, she thought she might throw up from how sick she felt with fear. How hadn’t she noticed Wendy was this hurt?

“Juvia is he-here, Juvia is with Wendy-san.” She tried to sound joyful but the shakiness of her voice betrayed her.

“I don’t feel well, my stomach hurts. It’s been hurting all day.” Wendy finally cried, letting out a sob. Juvia bit her lip fight back her tears as she laid the girls head on her lap. She stroked the girls hair and continued trying to level her breathing.

Juvia looked around the group and saw they wore the same hopeless expression.

“You will….you will be okay. Help is com-coming and we are all going to leave. They will help you.” Natsu spoke, his hands clenching at his pants.

There was nothing they could do for Wendy or her pain, her wounds were internal and from the sight of her bruising she was bleeding profusely. All they could do was make her comfortable.

“But I feel so cold, Juvia I’m scared.” Wendy continued to cry, but the more she cried the more her stomach clenched and eventually the younger girl started to cough up blood.

Juvia did her best not to recoil as the girls hot crismon liquid landed on her hands. “Juvia won’t let you go so just hold on until help comes.” she was hopeless. Even if Levy was right and Lucy’s dad was tearing apart the seas in search of them, the likeliness of them showing up anytime soon was low. But even knowing this, Juvia tried her best give Wendy a peace of mind.

Tears streamed down Juvia’s face and her chest ache with all the effort it took to hold in her sobs. Her body was shaking beneaths Wendy’s small frame.

The young girl’s eyes began to flutter and breathing became difficult, she coughed up blood several more times until she finally seemed to stop. "You'll be fine." Juvia lied. Wendy's chest rose and fell at a shallow pace and her pain began to subside - not because she was getting better, but because she was barely holding on.

“I may be young, but I’m not dumb….” The girl replied, her voice wasn’t angry, instead it was filled with sadness as she knew the dark empty void of death was approaching. “Can you sing to me?”

Juvia let out a hearty puff of air as she lifted her head up to the sky. She let out a weak laugh, breathing in her sniffles, she buried face in the crook of her arm to wipe her tears.

“Yeah, Juvia ca-can do that.” She felt the little girl clench her hand and Juvia finally looked down. She cleared her throat to begin but her voice still came out in a hush tone.

Hold on to this lullaby

Even when the music's gone, gone

Juvia brushed the girls hair and soft caressed her cheek as Wendy’s breathing turned into wheezing.

Just close your eyes

The sun is going down

Her hand tighten on the young girls as her eyes began to shut, Juvia stuttered over some of the lyrics and her toon began to mix in her cries.

No one can hurt you now

Come morning light

You and I'll be safe and sound

Juvia’s singing ended abruptly as the little girls head fell to the side going limp.

“Wendy-san.” Juvia whispered, gaping at their clasped hands. The older girl didn’t realize how tight she was holding the younger girl until she saw how white her knuckles were from her grip.

Juvia let go slowly and Wendy’s hand crashed to the ground. Her chest no longer heaved and her lungs stopped wheezing. Juvia didn’t need to check her pulse to confirm that she saw right in front of her.

The young girl, Wendy, who looked to be barely the age of 12 was dead.
