having a lot of thoughts about weeping scope and what the design means for levi’s character. more under the cut because it gets LONG. brief cw for a levi-typical drug reference in the second bullet point
two major things i’m focusing on here which are the fact that weeping scope is entirely nude and the obvious giant gun growth. which are kind of the only two things he has, so it’s the only two things to focus on. anyway.
naked
i wouldn’t really point this out since funger is funger but most of the other moonscorched forms do have some form of clothes. weeping scope is ass naked though. he’s completely exposed and has nowhere to hide.
- someone else pointed out in a fic that his jumpsuit covers everything except for what really matters (the track marks on his arms) and while obviously that’s not entirely relevant to weeping scope it’s still. that theme of exposure
- additionally the lack of genitalia/hardened over area where genitals would be — again considering how funger loves gratuitous nudity, big thing here that levi Doesn’t have anything there. (you could take this as trans coding but i feel like they would’ve been more obvious about it considering marina, but regardless) there’s a lot of conclusions to be drawn from that but i think the most noticeable is how the game does go out of its way to hammer in that he’s still a kid. he’s hit puberty (mostly) he’s 18 but he’s still a scared child. underdeveloped. etc
his head exploded and now there’s a gun
something i noticed when going through the enemy list (confession: i haven’t played funger yet because i do not have the right computer. sad.) is that it resembles the platoon enemy in structure and texture which is actually pretty interesting considering the platoon’s nature as a not-very-sentient weapon despite the fact that it is specifically described as a moonscorched human. that’s slightly off topic but i don’t think the texture resemblance between weeping scope’s gun and the platoon body is a coincidence
- what i’m literally thinking about irt the gun being Fucking Huge is the fact that it’s oversized and how that relates to being a child soldier. his main gun itself (rifle) is also very very long. too long for his tiny malnourished ass. it’s huge and unwieldy and
- takes over the entirety of where his head used to be. he literally has no way to think anymore. it’s just gun. no head. no thoughts. just gun and obviously fear and sobbing because even when less than human he’s reverted to extensions of both sides of himself: the terrified child and the mindless soldier. all he can do is cry and shoot. all he can do even as levi is cry and shoot (it’s all he’s good for, it’s all he’s meant for — while it’s a funny interaction, i do think about the segment in prhvl bop where he plays the piano and says it’s too late for his life to change trajectory [how old are you?] 18) — but it’s. so much more obvious and inescapable as weeping scope
#bonepost#bone analysis#funger#levi fear and hunger#fear and hunger termina#moonscorched#fear and hunger analysis#i just have a lot of thoughts about moonscorching honestly#i’m such a sucker for “characters get reduced to their truest basest forms”#bonus points for the horrors of it all

did anyone else get the impression that wellie from sotr was a victim of child abuse? of course, the behaviour of a child facing imminent death and suffering would probably be pretty similar to the behaviour of a child who had been abused, but a few things made me think that suzanne wrote her that way on purpose.
first of all, wellie "recoils" as haymitch approaches her to give her his lunchbox after hers was taken by the careers. again, very normal for any child in her circumstances, but more indicative of something deeper when read with other evidence.
she immediately apologizes for the district 6 chariot hurting louella, which was obviously not their fault. she also thanks haymitch for not blaming them. apologizing needlessly and assuming that they will be blamed are both noted behaviours in child abuse victims, especially the latter.
before haymitch goes on for his interview, he promises wellie despite what he might say in the interview, he would never betray the newcomers. he specifically says, "i will never hurt you, okay?" this phrasing is very deliberate, especially since during his interview he never even implies that he would attack or betray the newcomers. wellie claims that she knows, and her eyes are "full of trust". through the lens of my interpretation, this can be taken as wellie clinging to a kind protector that she's never had before.
while her behaviour in the arena can't be taken as any indicator of how she is outside the arena, because she's literally starving to death, her extreme insistence that haymitch doesn't leave her could line up with the rest of my evidence. has she been abandoned, neglected, or left alone before? her immediate assumption is that maysilee abandoned the newcomers, not that she got separated from them by accident. wellie is smart enough to realize this and seems to be a good judge of character; perhaps her assumption was influenced by past neglect.
finally, a couple comparisons can be drawn between wellie and lou lou, who we know was tortured and abused at the hands of the capitol. they are both very thin, prone to intensity, and quiet. while none of these things actually indicate that wellie was abused, the comparison itself matters. it reinforces the idea that these little girls share similarities, and have potentially suffered in similar ways.
also: wellie comes from district 6, which is implied to be suffering from a morphling/opiate epidemic. it is not a far reach to say that her guardian could have been an addict, and consequently an unstable, neglectful, or abusive caregiver.
#sotr#sunrise on the reaping#wellie sotr#wellie#basically all of this is just 'this behaviour is actually very normal for a kid headed towards certain death. BUT'#i love wellie so much. what a clever and gentle kid#my poor sweet daughter who deserved so much better </3#i fear my endless practicing for the ap lit exam lowkey shines through in this analysis whoops#hope i'm not the only person who noticed this#the hunger games#district 6#i'm actually a big fan of district 6#thg

I don't think Enki killed his sister. His personality and later decision to give himself as a sacrifice to Alllmer makes more sense to me if he was neglected by the Temple he grew up in. (Yes, I almost always pick Mastery Over Insects and Dash, plus I want him to be a loser...what about it)
HOWEVER, I think an Enki who'd kill his sister would not have ended in the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger. I believe he would have become more power-hungry after his victory was celebrated. It would have motivated him to climb the social ladder within the church.
Enki would still persue education, of course, he has the Enlightened Soul. But as a more influential member of the church, his academic career would be different than in canon, as it would go hand in hand with his ascension in the Ministry of Darkness.
He'd be slightly less antisocial, still very much Machiavellian but with less tendencies to isolate himself. His superiority complex would remain the same or even worsen with time.
Eventually, he'd be among the top dark cardinals of the Vatican. A lot of people would hate him for his temperament and controversial views but theyd be unable to deny his intelligence. When a pope ellection is held, he'd be chosen winner after a long months-lasting conclave.
His term would be remembered for his cruelty and his patronage for Science and Arts. Finally he'd be assassinated as a consequence of his outrageous corruption.
Not sure if this counts as meta or as an AU exploring how the death of his sister would affect Enkis personal development.
You could even interpret it as one of Enki's fantasies. Regardless of his choice I bet each night he always go to bed, thinking to himself "what if I had(n't) killed her?"
All that aside, Enki as a corrupt pope would be #hot.

No spoilers, but Sunrise on the Reaping has some of the most insane lore drops I've ever read and I'm only 7 chapters in.
Suzanne Collins, no one will ever be able to touch you.
To perfectly balance Easter eggs and connecting together four different books from two different periods of time while still making sure the story stands on it's own and delivers its biting and all too real critique of current events?
Bow down to the queen.

Analysis explaining why Daan can be inferred as a survivor of sexual violence, particularly in childhood through the Bunnymasks.
Text version below cut
“But it’s never stated Daan is a csa survivor”
Daan’s parents raised him in the Bunnymask sect of Sylvian’s cult. This sect is one of the few religious communions we’ve seen ingame.
It’s a massive orgy.
His parents traveled around to attend these orgies and neglected Daan
“Since you were a toddler, you had been travelling around the Europa with your parents. Your parents were devout followers of the older god of fertility and creation, Sylvian. Because of the nature of Sylvian's cult, in each new town you'd witness your parents putting on their rabbit masks and heading to the meadows naked with all the other cult members. You hated this life. Your parents would be more concerned on the matters of religion than you.”
Which would be the end of it if not for this line
“To make it worse, they even tried to pass on the healing gift of Sylvian to you.”
Daan does not learn healing whispers at this point in time. He does not learn loving whispers either. Both are spells which restore the body’s health. He doesn’t learn anything from this, in fact. This is not something that can be used in a playthrough nor even further elaborated on in flavor dialogue.
In the original Fear and Hunger when you encounter the Bunnymask cult you are able to join in their activities. This gives your party a full mind and body heal. Unfortunately this is likely what Daan learned in his youth.
Daan was sexually trafficked through his faith while under the age of 13.
“You were 13 years of age and alone in the Kingdom of Rondon. You had to do something for living...”
Pickpocket Route
“You weren't cut out to be a street thug, so you had to rely on the only skills you had for the money... The healing gift of Sylvian. You ended up starting a street praction of medical care where you'd heal people of all social classes. You soon became surprisingly adept with the healing gift of Sylvian.”
And sadly escaped this sex cult by further being exploited through underage sex work, here is where he learned formal Sylvian spells
“You learned Healing Whispers and your affinity with Sylvian grew!”
Honest Work Route
“A butler of a local aristocrat took you under his wing as an apprentice. You started working for the Baron Eihner Von Dutch.”
Or offering sexual knowledge to an older man in exchange for an education, a deal called a ‘proposition’ by an older Daan.
“He taught you about the modern medical practices in exchange for your knowledge on the older god Sylvian.”
Note: Eihner being a predator of some kind is a heavily contentious theory as it hinges on his behavior as a sulfer cultist. However it is pretty fucking weird tm to be having a kid talk about sylvian, goddess of fertility, sex and lust in exchange for some sort of education
This is not all, just the instances and implications that immediately come to mind.

Nosramus fragrance assignment
hellohello these upcoming weeks are quite busy for me due to exams and personal matters, but in the meantime I thought I'd share this as a treat while I work on the termina cast (I haven't forgotten don't worry)
°
°

°
°
I laid my eyes on this fragrance and it instantly clicked in my mind. The White Hero is a niche limited edition fragrance with beautiful packaging, all handcrafted Romania. That being said this fragrance isn't easily accessible to the public, but I wasn't intending on making these very buyer-friendly.. sorry.. But let's move on to what this fragrance is
White Hero is - White stones of a tranquil cavern deep underground, grown over by moss and almost sweet smelling mushrooms. The space lived in but very faintly, a place of solitude. It's a quiet ritual, white wax long since dried, running down wooden logs it was perched upon. It's a bundle of sacred sage, other foraged herbs that seem to never quite lose their smell. The place seems so still you can smell the ink coming off of every scroll or book piled up in the corners. Everything about this is scent so neutral, it's not light or dark, evil or good, even feminine or masculine.. very tranquil but it certainly leaves you pondering
Needless to say.. I think it's a good fit ^^ in a more direct fashion, I'd describe the smell as a dull and shy greenery over a layer of faint wood and topped off with the smell of sage and waxy mushrooms. The fragrance is very light I'd say, not very foreboding

i think there's something i need to say about Daan and this may be a little "controversial" but i'll try to explain it very detailed because it's quite complex. this is a long post.
disclaimer: it's my view, my personal opinion based on canon stuff and everyone can disagree with me, you're free to do so and i love having healthy, polite discussions so, yeah, feel free to ask me too to add or disagree :3
okay, i'll start straightforward: i don't think he's repulsed towards sex and sexual stuff in general. i'll elaborate because it's something a bit hard to understand considering what he went through.
it's 100% true that he hates everything related to religion and gods, specifically Sylvian and he wants to be away from it as much as possible. In my view, his relationship with the act as it is it's deeper and specific, something that his past shaped but not necessarily made him feel disgust if it's a thing he, consciously, want.
HOWEVER, it doesn't mean he wouldn't feel guilty. This topic i talked more about it here and because i already wrote it I won't go much further on his guilt here. To sum up a little: it would feel to him like a "worship" to Sylvian, but i recommend reading the previous post to understand this topic better.
back to what i was saying about his relationship with sex: i believe he's not against it if he wants, if he consent to it; he probably would enjoy it, but the thought of it remembering the Sylvian cult would make him feel bad, not because he engaged in sexual stuff, it's more like a "paranoia" that even he being fully conscious that he's NOT doing it for Sylvian, that he's doing it because he wants, for his own sake, he still feels like he somewhat is doing it "secretly" for the religion
but he won't stop doing something by fault of a religion himself doesn't "believe" anymore and just uses it when it's convenient (for example, in the game he sacrifices organs to Vitruvia to cure debuffs and the magna-medicinal skill is self explanatory)
i fully believe he still struggles with it, with the two feelings inside of him of wanting to engage in sex with someone and thinking it'll may appease Sylvian. these type of feelings can coexist because human mind is complex, people are complex, their relations with such an intimate topic are also really complex. csa survivors have different relationships with their trauma and engaging again with sex. some are repulsed, some aren't and all these feelings are 100% valid.
in Daan's case, for me, he's not repulsed. he don't think it's a bad thing at all. There are these two party talks, one with O'saa and the other one with Levi and i'll elaborate a bit on them.

the O'saa one is quite obvious the thing they're talking about and Daan's implications. this talk also shows more of his mischievous personality and kudos to it. This kind of thing doesn't "cancel" all he went through and his trauma.
the Levi one is another talk that i find interesting because of the speech that triggers the interaction and his reply to Levi. He's the only contestant that mention the "pleasure" possibility on the top floor of the department store and to consider too the people's will to engage in that voluntarily.
however, there's 2 talks with Abella that are really interesting too.

these two, specially the second one, shows his annoyance towards it too, but when it comes to religion and Sylvian. "But the department store isn't a religious place!", true, but there's drawings on the walls that resembles A LOT to Sylvian's sigil. Besides that, there's a huge difference in talking about a sexual-related matter (like the Levi talk) and helping the people who partake in something similar voluntarily (the second talk with Abella). In the first talk seemed like he didn't want to extend the discussion of what the statue shape resembles.
and i can't elaborate all of this post without talking about the museum party talk with Marcoh. that talk is a recorrent topic on my blog so yeah, you'll see that again.

i explained briefly here about the homoerotic implications of this talk and even though this one is pretty shippy, i'm not here to talk about daanmarcoh, this is a Daan post.
we know the suggestion here and it reinforces what i said earlier, that he doesn't has a problem with it when it's something he's willing to do, when desire to do so. He can want it, feel guilty about it and all of that doesn't mean he's not traumatized and out of character.
i believe his complexity of feelings regarding sexual stuff adds tons of impact on his personality, thoughts and beliefs. maybe that's the reason why i don't have the hc of him being asexual, personally i think it doesn't fit him much (i'm ace myself, so pls don't assume i'm being acephobic). of course, i'm not here to talk shit about other ppl headcanons, that's my personal take and i support everyone who has this hc for him, i understand where it comes from and the different views, they're all valid!
sexuality is an important side of Daan's lore and personality and it needs to be treated seriously because it's essential to understand him better. all of his life was, one way or another, related to sexual stuff and his view and feelings towards it matter too. Sylvian is like a ghost that haunts him since his childhood. I'm not saying he's only sexuality, what i'm trying to say is that's a intrinsic part of him and we can't deny it, he can't be summed to this but we also can't ignore the impact of it on his life. it's part of the complexity of his character and it's interesting to think about it.
pretty extensive text i know but i needed to unlock this from my mind's basement and share. i apologize in advance if something i said was confusing or if i worded poorly; i'd love to discuss it too!
thank you for reading and for your patience!

Can't stop returning to Katniss thinking "All I was trying to do was keep myself and Peeta alive. Any act of rebellion was purely incidental."
Because incidental actions are a large part of what rebellions are made of; often people don't mean for their actions to directly challenge authority, it's just that said authority is incompatible with life. Humans were not meant to be controlled. We are free-willed creatures, just like other animals. But authority seeks to control. It objectifies. What better example of this than the Hunger Games? The Capitol kills 23 children each year to flaunt their control. The Games are treated like prime time TV, and the tributes' humanity is stripped from them in order to become objects of entertainment among the highest echelons of society.
Consequently, to act in the interest of keeping yourself and others alive is to act in opposition to authority, no matter how innocent your intentions. And it's very easy for people to challenge authority simply by trying to live their lives; it's only natural for them to try and keep themselves and their loved ones alive. To quote Nemik's manifesto from the show Andor:
"Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause. Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward."
There are so many of these small acts of insurrection just in the first book. Peeta giving Katniss that bread, despite getting a beating for burning it. Katniss and Gale hunting to keep their families alive and bartering with the other people in District 12. Arguably, Katniss volunteering in place of Prim. Katniss and Peeta appearing as one unit during even the first ceremony, where they hold hands on the chariot. Cinna's designs for her outfits, especially the "girlish" dress he puts her in after the games. Katniss allying with Rue, and the flower crown that she gives her after death.
These seemingly small acts build solidarity with others. This is shown in several reciprocal, more innocuous (yet still rebellious) acts. Madge gives Katniss the Mockingjay pin. District 12 gives that three-finger sign of respect to Katniss instead of applauding like they are told. Peeta's father and Gale promise to make sure that Prim doesn't go hungry. District 11 sends Katniss bread and Thresh spares her once, because they want to honor how she treated Rue.
In a world that attempts to dehumanize and objectify you, it is rebellious to recognize the humanity in yourself and others. It is rebellious to help others, to make their lives easier, to hope, to care.
#just a side of hopium with the analysis today#combining my two interests rn and tbh they are surprisingly compatible#also#not the first to say this. bc bell hooks (i think?) was the one to say real self care is a form of protest#also also. there is something to be said about how the entire mood of the series seems to change at the end of book one#bc they were really just trying to stay alive but now theyre in danger again#it really sets the stage for a broader discussion on power and authority#and takes some of the focus off of the romance (even tho the romance is how they stay in Panem's good graces)#like. yeah you lived but you lived by finding a loophole and that cant be allowed#and theres another quote from nemiks manifesto about how#authority is brittle and it leaks and oppression is the mask of fear#but maybe ill connect those dots later#thg#the hunger games#thg analysis#andor#karis nemik#nemik's manifesto#lex's thg liveblog

i think what makes rpgmaker games after (and including) one shot is that the engine is consistently and reliably pushed to limits by devs who want to either work within those limits or completely ignore them all together. well known old school rpgmaker games rarely if ever had significant combat because the turn of the 2000s saw people disinterested by the mechanical design of turn and roleplay, and opted instead to create something banally bizarre, and often abstract in artistic expression.
games like yume nikki, space funeral and hylics have their dna connected by this thread of blasé attitudes towards the fundamental mechanics baked into their engine, and yet are defined by its limitations in both scope, fidelity and overall progression. RPGmaker is a grimy, toolbox-laden shell of a program to build a game with—it requires workaround coding for unique mechanics and often intense knowledge of the base runtime program itself if you don’t want to completely destroy what you’re making into a mess of ruined ideas and bog-standard gameplay that often annoys people about rpgs. Because, like, RPGmaker will give you the most basic that you can get. You’re working out from the program instead of inside of it.
this is what later games (I think all rpgmaker games can be split into an era of “before oneshot” and “after oneshot”) like eulogy of an insect, fear and hunger and feldivek subvert—they don’t pretend to be above the engine they’re made in, but they also don’t box themselves into being a “normal” RPG like most people expect. Eulogy is drawn in a fucked up, unique “dirty” style, Fear&Hunger is brutally difficult, and Felvidek is more humorous than its aesthetic would suggest and is brimming with Eastern European sensibilities of humor. This marks a drastic departure from when old RPGmaker games tried to be anything *but* rpgs.
(Excluding OFF, because it’s just a weirdo in the timeline lol)

Our ragged, bloodstained girl in red. Flesh stained teeth, earth crusted nails. An animal-girl.
Girlhood knows red. She knows of blood and the hollowing hunger that resides in the pit of stomachs. She knows her way around organs and the fresh scent of danger. Girlhood knows of red eyes, red hands, red tongue licking a full, satisfied smile.
Red waits with the Creature resting on her grandmother’s bed. It lies with one paw over the other. It yawns and sleeps and bares its neck. It waits for inevitability. Fear wears the clothes of love.
“If you cannot eat, you will die. This is the Law.”
Tears swell at the corners of the girl’s eyes. Who are these tears for, my child? Humanity lays at the corners of her eyes. She wipes them with the back of her hand.
Hunger and hunger and hunger grips the girls stomach. Starvation. Instincts. Animal.
She lays the iron weapon into the Creature’s skull.
Red Riding Hood devours her shadow. She rips apart fur, finds the critical spot where the meat comes apart the easiest, where the heart pounds and fades the quickest.
She splits the skull apart, pulling the strings that have tormented her Story many times told. She strays the path and follows her instincts. Animal.
She eats. She eats and drinks and swallows. Bright red. Raw meat. She picks the fur and guts out of her teeth. She wipes her mouth on the collar of her white dress and her hands at her thighs. “My teeth were made to eat you”.
Unrecognisable child. People fear you the way they feared the Big Bad Wolf. What have you done? Predator claws and ears grow from her body. Alien, familiar. Maturity, mortality, humanity, innocence— the blood at the end of girlhood.
“I met death, and Death wants me to live.”

One thing I find endlessly fascinating about fandom cultures is how different fandom communities can become so heavily linked together. Becoming like one community of fans who feel drawn to a group of similar pieces of media because of how many fans they have in common.
Some of them are fairly obvious, like some I’ve run into over the years. Like fans of the book series Warrior Cats also tend to get into the book series Wings of Fire. Both are fantasy xenofiction books with intricate world building. Hell for a while there a lot of the most popular creators from one fandom were also popular in the other. Or people who get into The Magnus Archives also tend to find other podcasts like Welcome to Nightvale interesting. Once again they share a medium and similar appeals.
And this effect can lead to situations like I just found myself in where I get into one fandom just to have both fandom discussions and algorithms alike pull me into a circle where multiple pieces of media are so often brought up together they form a subgroup of a fandom space.
My current interests have led me to what I’ve affectionately nicknamed “the depressed Northern/Eastern European video game complex” which from what I’ve seen contains the game I initially showed interest in Fear and Hunger, Pathologic, and Disco Elysium.
Before anyone pulls out their pitchforks I’m in no way saying these games are the same. First of all they do have quite distinct tones. Especially if you, say, compare Disco Elysium (a game filled with so much hope it’s bursting at the seams) to Fear and Hunger, (a game which aims to make progress feel hopeless at every turn). All I’m saying is the second I started looking up Fear and Hunger on sites like YouTube I might as well have typed in Pathologic by how often I saw content for that game instead. And when I did look up Pathologic the algorithm seems all too ready to introduce me to Disco Elysium too.
As a Canadian these games, to me, look like they were developed in pretty close proximity to each other, European standards of distance might say differently idrk. But the vibes and environments of these games feel so similar to me. So yes, there’s certainly debate to be had about if the inspiration behind each games vibe comes from a common experience but to me there’s definitely something there.
Well anyways I find that collective of close-knit fandoms very interesting. I’ve gone as far into Fear and Hunger as I safely can, did a wonderful play through of Disco Elysium. And now I’ll take what seems like everyone’s advice on my next game. See y’all after I play some assortment of the Pathologic games!
#fear and hunger#fear and hunger 2#funger#f&h#pathologic#pathologic video game#disco elysium#de#fandom#fandom culture#video games#fandom analysis#internet culture#gonna be so honest I get the sense Pathologic is the linchpin making this comparison possible#which is funny cuz I know the least about it#funger and DE is far more of a stretch but I feel it#standing in martinaise and in prehevil there’s a VIBE there

Cahara the Skank (Character analysis)
Tw: The topics of 1500s prostitution, violent rape and suicide ideation
Text version under cut:
Cahara as a protagonist
“Cahara of the South… He originates from the Eastern Sanctuaries. A bastard child left on his own at a very young age. Somehow this poor soul found his way to these dungeons…”
Cahara grew up under unfortunate circumstances, as he was abandoned in Jettiah he had to learn nothing in life came easy or freely
He had three choices to be a pickpocket, burglar, Or lead an honest life
But this choice means little past starting skill/item. No matter what Cahara becomes a mercenary.
“As you grew older you took part in various mercenary armies and learned the dirtiest tricks to stay alive. You were taken in by a notorious veteran highwayman and you joined his little band of criminals and ex-soldiers.”
Instead his first real life choice is if he will stay beside his first real allies or ditch them for his life.
They do not join him in the dungeons if they live
“During one of your many raids, your brigade got ambushed. The odds were seriously against you. You could have just abandoned your comrades and kept you life, or you could have fought to your last breath...”
He didn’t have to take this mission, however his mental narration states as if he does: shoving down fear for the money.
“Something is clearly not right about this mission and you have felt nausea since the the moment you agreed on the job. But you are short on silver and the reward is all that matters in the end.”
Really, he shoved his own feelings down for Celeste
"Celeste, you're still doing this job with the little one on the way and all?!"
Cahara is not opposed to Celeste’s sex work, instead he is opposed to the men who want her due to her pregnancy
"If anything, I feel like there're more gentlemen folks asking for my services these days."
"This isn't right. I don't like it."
"Girl's gotta eat and now I got the little one to feed as well”
"I'm a man. I should take care of you two."
“I’m leaving tomorrow if— no when I get back things will change. You just wait and see!"
He doesn’t tell her what to do, only stating what he himself can do for her
Sadly, he either already had a sense this could be his end or didn’t even let himself think this would be the last time he spoke to or saw Celeste in the flesh
"Just promise you do come back."
He knocked her up in a brothel and contracted syphilis.
“You also get an itch in your groin area...”
Unfortunately a sign of the sorts of people who’d pay for her services without care for her body.
After at least speaking with Celeste he fully made up his mind. He wouldn’t come back without the cash.
“But didn’t he like it?”
Cahara as an NPC
"Oh hey."
"You got me out of here!"
Upon meeting Cahara in the prisons of the dungeons, he is quick to join your party after a short conversation
[You ask him] “What are you doing here?"
[He answers] "Wwell...”
“I do have a mission here, but let's save that story for another day, yeah?"
Regardless of your questioning, he speaks quite anxiously. Stuttering or going silent in an out of character sequence
[You ask him] "Why were you imprisoned here?"
[He answers] "I was caught by one of those malformed prison guards”
“Your conversation took an awkward turn for some reason...”
Prison guards are shown to be sexually violent to those they have access to. Both in their dialogue, their attacks and how defeat by them causes incurable hemorrhaging from sexual injuries.
Cahara does not show signs of this hemorrhaging, however D’arce doesn’t have a concussion either despite nearly having her skull caved in. Both lack status effects for the sake of balance.
When Cahara robs you he has a preference for stealing healing items
This may be his attempt to patch himself up as there is no canon cure for internal bleeding.
[D’arce’s prison dialogue says] "Le'garde... You were supposed to be here…”
When in the prisons most characters bring up your common mission. D’arce, Ragnvaldr and even Enki bring this point up
Cahara breaks this formula
[Cahara’s prison dialogue says] "Tell me... Did the guards ever capture you here?"
He wants to know if he was the only one. He wants to know if there was anything he could’ve done. He’s seeking solidarity. He’s seeking kinship
"Don't let the dungeon have it's way with you. Bye."
"Talk about traumatizing events... Sheesh…”
"This place is starting to get into my head...”
Does this sound like the words of someone unaffected by the dungeons? He is nonchalant but he is not well. In fact that last line is repeated 11 times. He has 18 unique dialogue lines in party talks, none of his dialogue or anyone else’s appears nearly as many times repeatedly.
He’s gone into shutdown, in the upper areas and especially the prisons and areas around it he just cannot hold up. Mentally he cannot juggle his need to keep moving forward and process what happened.
This leaves his mind to go entirely unfiltered when he is in a space where he can think. Suicide ideation and turning to sex for comfort being his two major callings in this state. Sometimes even mashing together through his willingness to marry a marriage, a very literally dangerous form of sex.
"Hahaha, this is too good"
"Dying down here is most likely the easiest way to go!"
'I'm starting to feel like death would be the easiest option."
“Cahara seems really enthusiastic.”
"Just don't destroy my anus with those big muscles of yours, okay?"
"Ehh, well that's a freaky suggestion, but fine."

something i really like about funger 1 is that the dungeon of fear and hunger is just there and people have to get in by themselves. in funger 2 the characters are unwillingly pulled into termina but in the first game they just chose to do that
#im oversimplifying obviously and ik prisoners or criminals were thrown in the dungeon and everyone has a good reason to be there#etc etc but still funny to me that they woke up one day like mmm today i will walk into the dungeon of fear and hunger <-clueless#i say funny but i do find it immensely compelling#chizitxt#ough i have more Thougts about this and like. the difference in settings and the way termina/the dungeon manifest etc etc but i havent pr#operly finished either game as to make a good analysis so the most i can say is mmm this is cool.#unrelated but its annoying talking about viddygames that dont have normal sequel names#funger
