Master of Iron is book 2 in the Bladesmith duology from Tricia Levenseller. "Ziva defeated a deadly warlord but at great cost. Now she must head to a nearby city with the mercenary, Kellyn and young scholar, Petrick to find the magical healer who can save her sister's life. But another king wants more - more land, more of Ziva's magical weapons and Ziva herself." One thing I like about Levenseller's books is her strong female leads. Ziva is a different type of character. She suffers from severe anxiety around people. She only wants to work in her forge and hang out with her sister. She is forced into situations that stretch her and make her grow. Levenseller does a good job with everything going on in Ziva's head - how she's trying to deal with the situations and people around her. This is YA Fantasy so we have the bad-boy kings, the firends on a quest and the unlikely hero. The ending is different. Levenseller figures out a way to put her own spin on it. A great performance on the audiobook from Emily Ellet. There are a lot of characters - male and female - and she captures the emotion and personality of all of them. Alosa has succeeded in her mission and has all three parts of the map, which will lead her and her father to riches, power, and the legendary sirens.  But when a seed of doubt is planted in her mind and she learns the truth, she is left knowing two things:  she needs to get to the Isla de Carta, and the father she thought she could trust is chasing her with the whole fleet in tow.  Together with her crew, some additions from the Night Farer (including Riden), and her siren abilities, Alosa must defeat her father, the pirate king, and discover what it truly means to be the daughter of the siren queen.  

I thought that this book was phenomenal.  Daughter of the Siren Queen was very well written and had a plot line that had me holding my breath and hoping my favorite characters survived.  It has action, suspense, and romance all rolled into one spectacular read.

My eyes are still blurry from all the tears, that are still in my eyes, waiting, for me to let go and reread the story to the little kids. According to the descriptions, it is a middle grade novel, about nature and trees and animals, but this book has so many more lessons to teach about friendship and society and nature and mostly about being more than a living being. This book is a chance to change who I am and focus more on who I should be or who I should wish to be. This is a powerful story, more than what I expected it to be. I thought this book was good.  At times it was hard to follow, since there are so many different people and places.
