My father's funeral was yesterday. There are a lot of ways that I could attempt to eulogize him, but for the sake of expediency I'm going to go with an incident, towards the tail end of the Obama administration, where I was sitting in the living room reading, and he charges in in a big huff, says, "Look at what he sent me! Can you believe this guy?" and hands me this:

I love that between dick and jason, dick's generally considered more clingy and as the one who bothers Jason to hang out, when Jason canonically followed dick to an entirely different city, stole his identity and framed him for multiple murders for seemingly no other reason than feeling the little brother urge to fuck with his big brothers shit

Through your playthrough I am reminded why Grovyle is such a well written character in EoS specifically because of this special episode because it just adds SO much to his overall narrative. Not only that but Grovyle is a stage one evolution, he isn't stage two and dude is ridiculously strong and his willpower is off the charts! Its clear why he is a fan favourite across all aspects of the pokemon video game community! Also after completing this special episode on the rom I had on my ds flash cart my save corrupted and i lost EVERYTHING and I havent played it again since I played it for the first time several years ago lol (the pain is too much for a replay lol)
YEAH. yeah. grovyle will forever be leagues more iconic than either his evo or pre evo and that’s such an incredible honor for a middle evo to have. i like it especially bc it’s kinda like. if you imagine evolutionary stages like age (which i know they aren’t shhh i know) it’s like. grovyle is old enough to be wise and strong, but young enough to be full of hope and willpower. he’s got that scrappy teen or young adult energy to him in a sense. at a stage where you might be looked down upon bc you aren’t cute and sweet but you aren’t fully respected either. in the middle but it’s the perfect middle. at least that’s how i’m choosing to interpret it

It's funny how big a difference a small change can make. After a couple weeks of being able to do household chores at my own pace in my own way, instead of needing to do everything Right Now and In The Right Way, I'm... actually kind of enjoying it??
I'm enjoying doing laundry. On my birthday. Who even am I lmao.

Confession: I haven’t actually watched Season 15, the season where God is the antagonist and is therefore far more thoroughly explored, but I have been thinking of a way to reconcile fate, free will, and whether or not God is omniscient in the context of Supernatural, focusing primarily on the apocalypse and Lucifer’s fall.
I think the idea of the three primordial entities - God, Amara, Death - standing as equals that are unable to rule over one another without considerable effort and outside force is Really Neato. I think it’s absolutely essential to God being omniscient, if Amara and Death are also omniscient, and more importantly, all three are divine beings that rule over their aspects in totality. Similar to parent-child relationships in computer systems, God’s creations are His children and He contains and rules over anything that those creations could or will be.
And, because God is possibly the only one really creating children to rule over (the reapers get So Messy in the ‘Are they Death’s? Are they a subclass of angels? Did God make reapers to give to Death and try to cage Death in a little bit through them?’ <- my personal preference), we can’t really explore what that relationship would look like in a 1:1 way with the other primordial entities. Sure, we know that Death will reap God, we know that Death can do things outside of the rules that God sets forth - Death can go in and out of Lucifer’s Cage, for example. God had to lock Amara away because She could destroy anything She wanted, regardless of what He wanted or how He tried to protect it.
But, the big issue with God being omniscient is - well, did God actually want the devil? If God writes out fate, then He knew Lucifer would rebel, or allowed them to rebel, or made it so Lucifer would rebel, and so, can Lucifer really be punished for those actions that were at the end of the day controlled by God?
Lucifer might have been the very first exception, the very first creation that escaped God’s complete control, because Lucifer had the Mark of Amara - the first curse - which warped Lucifer. The Mark that bound Dean to Amara, tied his soul so profoundly to this primordial entity that it changed Her, was contained in Lucifer as well. Lucifer became not just a child of God, but a child of Amara as well by being a creation of God that contains an aspect of Amara. And, with that first taste of free will that any creation had, Lucifer rebelled, rose up against humanity and fought against Heaven, and was only (possibly only able to be) thrown into the Cage after giving the Mark of Amara to Cain. (And to get Sad, the corruption of the Garden of Eden becomes a more direct parallel to Lucifer’s fall through this interpretation - humanity is innocent and not meant to understand nakedness and lust and shame until they commit those things, and Lucifer does not understand free will or that it is a sin against God or not allowed because it’s not supposed to exist, until they commit it.)
Cain, and Dean, very interestingly, cannot be killed by Death while they bear that Mark. Death, as an equal primordial entity, canonically cannot overrule this aspect of Amara.
This brings us back to the apocalypse - we’re told repeatedly that God has written this story, with an open-ending, but either Lucifer dies or Michael dies, one archangel kills the other. Lucifer, freed from the Cage and without the Mark of Amara, is acting in accordance to the script again, but free will wins, despite how Cain still has the Mark of Amara and isn’t involved at all. He’s keeping those bees in Missouri, unbothered, fully moisturized.
And this may be an admittedly sprawling and messy answer to that — the lineage descending from Cain and Abel also carries the power of the Mark of Amara. Dean and Sam have to be descendants of both Cain and Abel, unified by their shared parents, and maybe that’s because Cain’s descendants also have that aspect of Amara shielding them at least partially from God’s influence. That can be a little supported by how Cain argues his children are predisposed to murder, the most feasible form of destruction for humans to accomplish, that the Mark craves, but it also means that the free will that humanity is purportedly blessed with is not an intentional blessing from God, but an unintentional creation from Amara, Lucifer, and Cain.
But maybe there’s a simpler answer - Dean and Sam had both died and been brought back to life before the apocalypse. Both were touched by Death, and maybe that gave them aspects of Death to carry, to shield them from God’s influence. Maybe God thought that Death wouldn’t care to influence the apocalypse or try to stop it, but we know that Death did - Death didn’t have to give Dean the horseman ring or the secret to open the Cage, but Death literally gave Dean the means to completely derail God’s planned apocalypse.
Whether Amara gave humanity free will through Cain or Death gave it to the Winchesters, this time around, God seems to be entertained by the genuine suspense and surprise awaiting him in the apocalypse. He, as Chuck, is just writing things down as it happens, He might not be actually bound by Heaven as Zachariah threatens Chuck that He is, but He is overpowered and caged in by another entity’s influence and forced to watch things play out. And He’s enjoying it a bit, He’s pleased to see the ending that does play out with Sam’s swan dive and love conquering all, because even though He wasn’t a fan of Lucifer destroying His newest toys which was Amara’s sin in His eyes, surprise to an omniscient being is definitely rare and can be delightful.
Anyway, that’s a lot of red string and meta to say that if Lucifer got out of the Cage and took back the Mark of Amara from Cain and also had Death bound, she could beat God to death with a hammer Looney Tunes style.
