Soft dots of rain pitter-patter across the rooftop of the Ancunin estate. The children are asleep in their rooms down the hall, thoroughly exhausted after a long summer day of archery practice in the backyard. Evander had proven to be a surprisingly excellent shot for a four-year-old with a child’s practice bow; he held all the talent of a natural marksman and required little direction from Astarion.
The other two Ancunin boys had done well, though Finnick required significant curtailing to focus on the task – archery is not his preferred weaponry, he was much more interested in swords. Gale had been, as always, above average though uninterested in such pursuits.
A rumble of thunder overhead, right above the estate, greets the only two Ancunins still awake in the candlelit mansion. They pay no mind to the storm outside, for they are far too busy wrapped in one another’s arms.
Tav emits a delighted giggle as Astarion pulls away from their lazy, languid kiss and begins to lick a slow, winding trail down her body. His bare chest drags against hers on the way to his destination, and he briefly stops to suck a nipple in between his teeth. He nips just hard enough to pull a gasp from his wife before chuckling playfully and moving lower, lower, lower, until he’s hovering just above her mound. The scent of her arousal is intoxicating. She’s barren, completely exposed for him to admire. Her nightdress had been hiked up above her breasts long ago.
“And what do we have here, darling?” Astarion asks, as his fingers come to spread her slick folds. “A present for me?”
He’s about to press his tongue against that sensitive nub of nerves when the doorknob to their bedroom jiggles. There is no time to think. Astarion and Tav move quick as lightning; she yanks her nightdress down while he launches himself up and over to his side of the bed. The door swings open. They were narrowly fast enough to avoid mentally scarring the child standing in the dimly lit doorway.
“Gale, dear, what is it?” Tav asks, her head cocking to the side as she examines the worried expression on her eldest. Two more, slightly smaller figures appear behind him, each holding a stuffed dragon.
“The thunder woke us all up,” Gale explains with a frown. His voice sounds so small. “It was so loud, mama. Evan and Finn came into my room and then we all came here. Apple is hiding under my bed and she won’t come out.”
Astarion, eager to quell the concerns of his children and resume his prior adult activities nods and then says, “Yes, well, how about we get everyone back to their rooms—“
Lightning snaps like a whip through the sky, causing the twins to shout in surprise and hide their faces in their hands. Gale’s shoulders come up to either side of his perfectly pointed ears; his eyes are wide, green pools of concern. Tav turns her head to look at her husband, and he emits a slow, belabored sigh in response to her gaze. He knows where this is going.
“Fine, you three, come here.” Astarion grumpily beckons with a wave of his hand. The three boys quickly climb onto the bed and wedge themselves between their parents.
Tav pulls the blankets over the entire family, wrapping their children in a warm, down feather filled cocoon. Another rumble of thunder overhead causes all three Ancunin boys to tremble.
“You three are safe here,” Tav coos, fingers coming to lightly stroke against each of her children’s cheeks, one at a time. “Papa and I will take care of you.”
Astarion nods and hums in agreement as he begins to reluctantly settle himself into bed. This was not the night he’d been eagerly envisioning after a day of stolen glances between him and his wife. But the boys follow his lead and soon the entire family is locked in a snuggle pile. Tav begins to hum an old Elvish lullaby and the children drift off into reverie, a symphony of soft snores signaling their sleep.
Astarion is on his side and has one of the twins curled against his chest, his hand stroking a head of soft brunette locks. The other twin is facing the opposite way and clinging to his older brother; Gale is reciprocating the embrace, his chin resting on his brother’s head.
“Suppose we will have to pick up our activities where we left off tomorrow, my love,” Tav finally murmurs as she extinguishes the lights in the room with a flick of her hand.
“What activities, mama?” Gale asks with a yawn.
The two parents exchange wild-eyed glances from across the bed. Astarion panics and says the first thing that comes to mind. “Exercise, Gale. We were just about to exercise.”
“Oh…” the eldest Ancunin responds and with another yawn he slips into slumber with his brothers.
Tav and Astarion share a soft sigh of relief and then tuck themselves into bed with whispered goodnights to one another. Just before he slips into reverie, Astarion thinks that he and Tav will have to exercise twice as hard tomorrow to make up for tonight.
What a noble sacrifice on his children’s behalf.

"oh my god..." rhea had never reacted so fast to a text message. she was in bed, pajamas and all, ready to finally get some sleep after a hectic travel schedule and not having y/n home. but reading her phone for the last time before she planned to shut her eyes for the night had the eradicator jumping out of bed.
the rest of the group was scattered throughout the bedroom area; finn still deep in thought in the shower, dom fast asleep in bed already, and damian trying to make his side of the bed as comfortable as possible before hoping to be just as fast asleep as dominik. rhea getting out of bed and hurrying to slide someone's hoodie over her head was enough to wake dominik from his deep slumber, the young lucha rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "is there a fire?" he mumbled.
damian was just as confused. "rhea? babe, what's wrong?" he asked, watching the aussie hurry out of the bedroom and following closely behind. "rhea!"
"no no no no..." she was mumbling, panicking at the thought of what could have been on the other side of their front door. of course rhea wanted y/n home, they all did. but she also feared this was some sick joke. a nightmare she wasn't able to wake up from and she'd be forced to sit through the whole thing. the rain was drowning out the sound of damian's footprints rushing behind her, and a small crack of thunder sounded as she opened the door.
there stood y/n. soaking wet from the rain, shaking and trembling like a leaf, and the sight of rhea alone caused a sob to leave her lips. "m-mamí..."
"oh honey, shh," rhea tugged y/n into her arms and brought her inside the house. "i've got you, it's okay. you're home."
those words didn't feel real...none of this felt real to y/n. she'd spent the last month being ostracized from the people she loved as a form of payback. she was used as canon fodder against the judgment day, simply because she chose her own path and not what edge wanted for her. enough fear had been instilled in her that she didn't just go back home to her little family, and now that she was finally back in the safe embrace of the eradicator herself? that fear was even more rampant in her veins.
y/n was wriggling in rhea's arms, shivering and her teeth trembling as she tried to get warm. her entire body was drenched from the rain. even the warmth of rhea's body wasn't enough to make the shivering stop, and rhea realized that very quickly. "damian, dom, towels please?" she looked up at the top of the stairs, where dominik's mouth had practically dropped open with shock. "did i stutter? towels, dominik! dry clothes, blankets, anything!"
dominik snapped out of whatever trance he was in and ran into the bathroom for towels. finn was still showering, and upon hearing all of the commotion entering the steam-filled room where he was trying to process all of his emotions, he poked his head out from behind the curtain. "jeez, dom." he groaned. "it's late, what are you doing?"
the panic was written all over dom's face. "y/n..." he said, grabbing a stack of towels from a cabinet. "she's here. she came back in the rain." without another word, he left an astonished finn in the bathroom and rushed back to where rhea was holding a terrified y/n.
"i-i...i couldn't...rhea, it..." y/n could barely formulate words from how hard she was sobbing. it was hard to even distinguish what was tears and what was raindrops on her face.
rhea shook her head gently and wrapped y/n in a towel, then a blanket. "don't talk, y/n." she said softly, immediately pulling her close again to try and calm her down. "just take deep breaths for me, okay? come on, you're safe here. we've all got you."
damian, who's just finished bringing the warmest blankets in the house to where rhea and y/n were sitting together, took one of the towels from dominik and began drying y/n's hair so it would stop dripping down her back. "shh, estas en casa ahora hermosa." he said softly.
meanwhile, finn was left in a daze from dominik's words. y/n was here? she came back? how did she manage to do that? isn't she going to get in trouble? how he didn't slip when getting out of the shower was a mystery, because he got out of there as fast as he could and got dressed before rushing downstairs. the sight in front of him was one that not only broke his heart, but fueled every bit of anger that had already been permeating in his body. seeing y/n, shivering and huddled in rhea's arms as she sobbed and mumbled absolute nonsense was every reason for him to unleash absolute hell on edge.
go to her, my prince. she needs you now more than ever.
"oh, lovey..." the irishman rushed to where his girls were sat, his arms open for y/n who immediately rushed into them with another sob. "baby, what are you doing here? you know what they told you."
"i don't care!" she cried harder, hiding in his neck. "they can't keep me out of my home! t-that i pay for a-and clean and have a key to!" finn wrapped the towels around her a little tighter and she leaned into his loving touch. "no one is in charge of me but me."
all four members of the judgment day, while saddened this feud with edge and beth had gotten to this point, had to admit that there was an aspect to their princess's anger that had them feeling proud of her. the y/n they originally recruited into the judgment day probably would have never stuck her metaphorical middle finger up to her bosses or mentors. but her being in this position had forced her to dig up that buried confidence and finally put it to use.
time had passed, with all five members of this reunited judgment day sitting in the living room trying to warm up and calm down y/n until she was no longer sobbing and shivering. she'd been reduced to silent tears and the slightest trembles in her shoulders, but nothing more. more than anything, y/n was exhausted and she wanted to sleep in her own bed. "can i please go take s shower?" she asked quietly from finn's shoulder.
the prince nodded in response, damian moving the blanket and wet towels from her body as she stood up from her tight ball on the floor. "i'll put your pajamas in the dryer so they're warm for you, love."
the two walked upstairs, one of finn's arms around y/n as they went into the bathroom together. he grabbed a spare towel for the dryer as well, and gave a gentle kiss to y/n's forehead. "what else do you need, angel?" he was expecting something simple as answer from y/n; maybe her water bottle to be filled and by their bedside, or something to eat, maybe even a request for a specific member of their little family to hold her that evening or to sleep in the middle. but her words instead held a much deeper meaning.
"revenge. i want revenge."
****
monday night raw. only three weeks away from wrestlemania, the grandest stage of them all, and the judgment day only had one thing on their minds; ending this feud with edge, once and for all. for everything he did to them. for all of the chaos he put their little family through. every one of them wanted a piece of the fight, but finn ultimately was the one who'd be in that ring with the hall of famer.
edge stood in the ring, facing four members of the group who stood at the top of the ramp. they stood strong, like a solid barrier against the negativity and hurt edge had put them through. "a few weeks ago, you challenged me to a match at wrestlemania, right?" he asked finn. "and since you're not man enough to come in here and face me, you want your match at wrestlemania? fine, you got it!'
finn was hyped; he was nodding, smiling at the other man while the other members were getting just as hyped alongside him. finn had been dying for this match. he issued this challenge weeks ago, and the desire to be in a ring alone with this man was only getting bigger and bigger. the cheers of the crowd around them wasn't helping anything either.
"hey, did you hear that, dom?" the prince asked. "rhea, did you hear that? finn's going to wrestlemania! you think the beating i gave you at extreme rules was bad-" the adrenaline was pumping through his veins, he was trying his best to get through this promo without letting his hype get the better of him.
"shut your mouth!" edge's words silenced him, the crowd reacting in the canadian's favor. "for the last year of my comeback, i've wasted it on all of you." by his choice, for the most part. "the year before that, i wrestled in front of a bunch of tv screens in the thunderdome. i don't have time for this. i'm running out of time."
the irony in his words could be felt by the judgment day on an entirely different level. he had so much to accomplish that he abandoned y/n, left her in the dust in favor of his own career that had lasted twenty-plus years. sure, he was running out of time. but running out of time so fast that he had to practically forget y/n ever needed him in the first place?
the anger was pulsing through finn's body. the others could sense it, and dom put a careful hand on finn's shoulder in hopes that he'd calm down. but he couldn't stop pacing and moving as he glared deep into edge's soul from the top of the ramp.
"so the way i see it, there's only one way that this can end." edge said, holding onto the top rope as the audience also picked up on where he was going. finn was watching him carefully, his top lip twitching in anger just at the sight of him. "at wrestlemania, edge versus finn bálor, inside hell in a cell."
the audience reacted exactly how one would expect; finn stood stoic in his spot, edge was shaking with anger and adrenaline. the cheers from the crowd only fueled the two men and their respective anger.
finn was gripping his mic tight, his knuckles starting to whiten. "edge, i've been to hell before." he stated. "it spit me out because hell couldn't handle my demons. i'll see you at wrestlemania, but until then..." he looked at the other three members of the group, but what edge didn't see was what stood behind him with her own weapon of choice.
there y/n stood, coming up from her hiding spot under the ring with her own adrenaline rush. no one wanted this revenge on her mentor more than she did. no one wanted a front row seat more than her. this would be her first taste of that, as she swing her arms back and the kendo stick in her hands struck the back of the hall of famer. she hated to admit it, but there was a sense of pride as he fell to the mat and her partners began to unleash their own hell on him. y/n hit edge not once, not twice, but three times; and the yelps of pain that emanated from him sent chills down her spine.
even as the rest of the ring burst into chaos, other superstars coming out to edge's defense, she stood in front of him with her breath ragged and her palms sweating. "you're going to wish you never asked to meet the prince in the gates of hell." he'd never heard that growl to her voice or seen that ravenous look in her eyes. this was a new y/n, one that was sticking it to the people who'd caused her more pain than she'd been able to manage in her small body.
"get ready to meet the demon you created, pops."

✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
rebecca was born on a cloudy day some December 1902, twelve years after the head of the family; thomas shelby was born. ever since that day (and finn's birth) he promised not only himself but his family that he'd take care of them. they were the most important thing in his life, and after the war that never changed. though, it grew harder with the night terrors and feeling as if the two had a bounty on their heads every time they stepped out into good ole birmingham. though, the family never once made it seem that way. the two younglings thought nothing much of it really, thinking that that was how everybody else lived. always having people following them around for protection especially if arthur, john or tommy could not be there. so when rebecca turned 20 in 1922, she did not understand why she couldn't come 'out' to society, like everybody else her age. she did not realize how dangerous it was. because again, her and finn had lived in a bubble; something that polly made sure of.
˚ · .·˚
the very night she returned home from school that spring, rebecca was fuming, teeth seething and hair falling out of her braided bun, "why on earth can i not take part in the event tom! how else am i supposed to be seen as an adult and not a child?" she demanded, hands on her hips. tommy had watched his youngest sister scream and shout, pull at her hair for the better part of the hour. once she had realized her name wasn't on the list of the debutant ball, she quickly came home to give a piece of her mind to the head of the family. he said nothing, just watching. she stopped her frantic movements, turned back towards tom and shrugged. she was simply giving up, something that she never did. because she was a shelby, fighting till the very last second. tom saw the defeatedness wash over her like a waterfall, and then saw the tears forming in her eyes. oh how he hated to see her or finn cry, especially at the expense of him. she shook her head, knowing he was about to stand up or say something, and she put her hand up. "you don't want me out there, fine. but just know that i will resent you for the rest of my life as i go leave for university this upcoming fall." she paused beginning to walk out. she took one last look at him, "and just know that i wont come back to this shitty hell hole." and with that she left. tom sat there for a few minutes finishing his whisky and freshly lit cigarette. he sighed, looking up at the ceiling knowing that polly was going to be giving him an earful right about - now.
"thomas michael shelby, what the hell is wrong with you?" she quipped, slamming his office door and shaking his now iced glass. "pol-" she cut him off, "don't poll me, boy." she stated promptly and he knew to shut up. "your sister is this close, this close!" she said emphasizing with her fingers. "to slipping away, and do you really want that? really want that boy?" she seethed, "i don't care what you have to say thomas but she is going to that ball whether you like it or not." she said standing her ground, and he knew it was golden. one to be left untouched. he sighed, "but its dangerous." he stated and she shook her head. "if its so dangerous, find a way to make it not dangerous! you have this whole empire, use it for something good." she stated before walking out. tommy rubbed his eyes, before standing up to go speak to arthur and john, who no doubt would be at the garrison. he knew deep down, he had to let rebecca do this and if he didn't he no longer would have a sister.
˚ · .·˚
rebecca brushed her hair as finn her little brother by 7 years, went on and on about his day at school. she giggled at naiveness and plain stupidness him and his little friends possessed. yet she adored it, and how they still saw life in the most purest form. rebecca on the other hand, her world slowly began cracking a year ago. she accidently walked into the garrison during a 'family meeting' that was in the back and therefore they hadn't heard her. then as they believed her to be sleeping, she heard more speaking and whispers late one night. the world she once saw was not what she saw now. she realized how dark, cruel and unforgiving it could be. so it came to no surprise when her name was not on the damn list but a huge part of her wish it had been. she wanted to be like every other university girl in this town, but she was afraid she'd never be. "alright fi, time to get to bed." she smiled turning around in her vanity chair. fi was a little nickname she gave to him one cold night during the war and it had stuck between the two since. "i don't want to." he huffed, crossing his arms. "you have to, it is quite late. don't let our big scary brother find out i let you stay up past your bedtime." she grinned, running over and tickling him. finn's laugh filled up the room, alerting the whole house he was still awake. francis smiled as she tidied up the kitchen. tommy stirred in his cat nap, feeling a ginormous headache coming on. but as he listened to the laughter and shrieks coming from upstairs his heart softened. his cold and locked heart, always swelled just a bit more when he heard finn's laugh. a contagious one at that.
rebecca shooed the boy after a minute, and wrapped her arms around the almost 13 year old boy. "i cant believe you're going to be 13 in a few days." she hummed, and he started to squirm in her arms. "oi don't become a teenager just yet." she giggled, and he stopped fidgeting. the two sat on her bed for a few minutes more before deciding it was time to get him to bed, "come on love, time to go to sleep." she said letting him get off of her lap. he yawned, and she grinned knowing full well he'd been trying to hide his exhaustion so the two could stay up just a bit more to talk. rebecca was truly all finn knew, he was only 8 when the boys went off to war and when they came back it was a shell of what they had been. rebecca cared for him like he was her own for as long as she could remember. just as tommy thought of her and finn as his own, sometimes. "come on." she whispered, taking ahold of his hand and walking towards the conjoined rooms that were separated by a thin wall and door.
tommy heard from his office the fight that finn was putting up and then it stopped, and he smiled softly knowing his exhaustion finally won. he'd always have trouble getting finn to sleep especially when everybody was over but rebecca - becs - always had a way with him. she was soft, kind, heart warming and gave the best hugs in the world. oh, and a cookie here and there. he looked at the grandfather clock in his office and decided it was late enough, and that he'd finish everything in the morning. he slowly walked upstairs, saying goodnight to francis and he stopped without knowing in front of rebecca's door. he heard her mingling about, getting ready for the next morning and trying to find her one book she'd hid without realizing. he knocked softly on her door, and she knew who it was. she walked over to her door, and opened it to reveal and tired and somewhat bothered tom shelby. she rolled her eyes, and walked towards her bed. he took that as a cue to walk in, and she faced him once she sat on her bed. she sat pretzel style, waiting for him to speak.
"becs, there are things-" she cut him off, "cut the bullshit tom. i don't want excuses." she said coldly and his eyebrows knit together in confusion and then in understanding. "you know?" he asked almost in disbelief and she rolled her eyes again, nodding. "when?" he asked, trying to figure out when she'd heard things. "the garrison last September, right before university started. then again over winter break, here at the house. and then last week when i woke up from a nap." she explained and he stood there processing it. "i know you've tried to keep me and finn safe but tommy." she paused, and he looked up at the nickname. "you cant keep my cooped up here forever. i cant live like this nor will you be able to when I've turned this house upside down." she said a bit lightheartedly. he grinned, "its not like you haven't don't that already." and she smirked. "i am the only female in this bloodline, it was to be expected." she smiled, a genuine smile. "and the only blonde and blue eyed one." he said and she pointed at him, in agreement. he looked down, and thoughts plagued his mind. "tommy...i need to do this. you need to let me do this, i cant stay in birmingham forever. i want a life outside of this place, i dream of faraway places. i dream of chicago or los angeles, i dream of a air so clean it hurts. i dream of a place where i don't fear to step out of my house, where i can be who i want to be, wild and free." she paused as tommy looked up. "i want the fairytales mum used to say and the one's aunt pol spoke about...i want my prince charming far, far away from here. you-you need to let me go tommy. or ill never escape this thing- this place." she said saying the words he'd longed to hear. just not the america part.
"okay." he simply stated, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion. "ok-ay?" she questioned, and he nodded. "okay." he repeated. she felt her heart flutter and butterflies grow with excitement. she jumped off the bed, and threw her arms around the usually stone cold brother. he froze for a second before chuckling, and wrapped his arms around his baby sister. "thankyou thankyou." she said genuinely, feeling as if she was on top of the world. until she wouldn't be.
˚ · .·˚
rebecca walked down the stairs to find michael and aunt polly waiting for her, at the bottom. because her brothers were out of the age frame, it was determined that michael would 'send her off' and accompany her that evening. she smiled at michael who truly was her brother, as the two had stuck with one another during the war. and being so close with aunt polly, cemented it further. finn shouted from the top steps as michael was about to walk out with her. "becca wait!" he screamed, and she turned around to see her kid brother rushing to hand her a single rose. she knew exactly where he got it from, mrs.hanovers front garden two blocks over. "oh bubba, thankyou." she smiled hugging him. "i hope you have a good time tonight, and break a lot of hearts." he joked and she giggled nodding. "i love you, don't forget that." finn said pulling her in one last time. she smiled, "i love you too fi." she said before kissing his cheek and michael retook her arm. he hooked his other arm on pollys and the three left finn with franics.
the shelby boys and their partners were already at the grand hall, polly walking in shortly before rebecca and michael would walk in after being announced. he looked down at his cousin who practically was his sister at this point, and he saw the nerves beginning to seep over. she could not shake the feeling of dread, and one of fear. she had woken up during the night in a terror, finn quickly running over to check on her. he'd found her in a cold sweat, heart and mind racing. he held her as she shook, not understanding what her mind was fighting. thoughts so unfathomable for her, and one's that would not be dared to be spoken. michael rubbed her arm, and that comforted the blonde. "thankyou michael again, for doing this." she smiled up at her younger cousin - by only a year he liked to joke. he nodded kissing her temple, and she held on tightly to the rose finn had given her.
polly on the other side of the curtain found the boys and their partners, nodding to tommy who stood just a little taller. grace at his side, smiled softly knowing polly had settled his nerves just a bit. the crowd turned their attention toward the debutants and their partners. the crowd gushed, oohed and ahhed over the affair. it was now rebecca's turn, and she felt butterflies flooding her body. michael winked at her and then they walked out. rebecca's champagne-colored dress dazzled the crowd, her blue stone necklace glinting just a tiny bit in the light. rebecca amelia shelby, the girl who shall not be named was finally being seen by many. the shelby girl kept in the shadows for most of her life, raised by her kid brother and so called addicted aunt, had barely seen the light of day for school. let alone, the slum of birmingham. she smiled widely as the crowd clapped for her like they did for every other young lady tonight. michael walked her over towards the family as he had spotted them rather quickly, while rebecca was lost in her own world. they turned towards the family, as the crowd murmured about the young girl. she would not be forgotten, not now and not ever.
they walked up to the group and john quickly hugged rebecca, then arthur and then tommy who only nodded at her. oh for the love of appearances, rebecca silently cursed. aunt polly gushed about her dress and entrance, to which grace and esme agreed. rebecca thanked the women and turned around to look at the two debutants who had just been introduced. she politely clapped, and quickly found her best friend, olivia who Michael had become quite fond of. "please excuse me." rebecca said to the group before walking over to her and brother. "if it isn't miss beauty-" olivia started, "miss grace-" rebecca giggled. the two had recently become quite fond over america and the idea of the west, and what it could possess. their interest peaked when they saw there was a miss america pagenet and olivia was smitten. "miss united states." olivia whispered the last part causing rebecca to laugh loudly. "so did you tell him?" olivia questioned, eyeing tommy who was also eyeing the two. rebecca shrugged, "you didn't tell him?" olivia eyes went wide. rebecca shook her head, "its not like you haven't talked about since the very day you turned 18 and we were roommates." olivia said as a matter of factly. rebecca sighed, "its not that easy you know him, you know them. they'll never let me go. besides i told him about it awhile ago but i know he hates the idea of me in chicago or los angeles without them." rebecca stated and olivia rolled her eyes. "if i didn't love you as much as a sister, i'd march right up to him and go ballistic. y'know that?" olivia smirked and rebecca nodded. she'd been keeping her best friend at bay for months now.
"besides i just got archie to come with us when we do hit the west." olivia said cheekily and rebecca's eyes went wide. it was true, rebecca was smitten the older boy of two years. she had been for years, and olivia loved to tease her about it. "he's going?" rebecca in a whisper and olivia nodded, "he said he couldn't let his little sister fend for herself without him." and rebecca laughed loudly and boldly at this. arthur and john looked over along with tommy who'd been eyeing her the whole conversation. "see shes having a great time, tommy boy." arthur said clapping a hand on his shoulder. to which, tommy shoved off.
"maybe ill have to get michael to come with or at least visit us until you see how madly in love he is with you." rebecca giggled like a little girl. "rebecca amelia." olivia prompted, and rebecca clicked her tongue. "you twisted girl." olivia said sipping her champagne fluke, and archie gave one to rebecca. she smiled at him and thanked the hazel eyed boy who smiled back at her. "whos the rose from?" olivia asked and rebecca smiled, "finn." she said and olivia gushed. "that's so cute where'd he steal it from?" she teased and rebecca laughed. "mrs hanouver two blocks east." and olivia gasped, "that little grifter." olivia said about finn, and rebecca rolled her eyes. she looked back to see her family dispersing just a bit, while tommy and grace stood in the same place talking to another older couple. "i should head back, but i will see you later...at the after party?" she whispered the last part, and olivia smirked. "don't you know it." she smirked, and then rebecca turned towards archie. "as always it is a pleasure." he smiled, taking her hand in his and kissing it. her cheeks turned crimson and she let it fall to her side before turning around and walking towards tommy and grace. he turned towards her, as she walked up to them. he stopped the conversation short, and grace went to go find polly. tommy gave his sister his full attention, and she smiled. "see? that wasn't so bad." she teased, taking his outstretched arm. he chuckled, knowing that the threat of life was not over and done for the evening.
"so what do you think of the idea of a trip out west this winter?" she said gaging his response. "i heard al capone is a great guy." she teased and he chuckled briefly. he'd been in contact with guys in new york and new jersey and knew just how great of a guy he was. somebody just like tommy but even worse. "tell me why you know who capone is?" he questioned softly and she shrugged, and tommy rolled his eyes now. "oi! don't be rolling your eyes at me." she playfully joked and tommy could not help but crack a little bit more. he just laughed, as the crowd began to disperse into the bigger ballroom to have dinner and have some dancing. tommy and rebecca stood their for a brief moment, looking at one another. he pulled a piece of stray blonde hair behind her ear and questioned softly, "when did you grow up?" and she blushed. "i did a long time ago tommy..you just didn't want to notice." she smiled softly. despite all of the rules and regulations he imposed on her once he came back from the war, she wouldn't have had it any other way. the amount of nights in she received with finn from tommy, and her brothers were ones she was going to cherish. "tommy." she said just as he was about to take another step towards the grander ballroom. he looked back and saw nerves and anxiety plagueing her features. he tried searching her eyes but came up short, "i wanted to let you know that i wasn't joking when i was talking about going west." she began and he felt her slipping, slipping from his fingers. "i am going west once i graduate this spring, olivia and i will be going together." she said not sure of his response. but she never got it. as soon as tommy opened his mouth, he looked forward and saw the commotion that he had worried about. an italian mobster outstretched his hand with a silver weapon, pointing it at tommy. for it to only hit rebecca instead as arthur pushed him over.
chaos rose throughout the hall, as tommy screamed. rebecca fell in his arms as he had tried to push her back behind him. her champagne dress now crimson red. she looked up at tommy, as he cradled her in his arms. she could not hear a thing, as she looked up at him. as he yelled for an ambulance, for somebody to help. she pulled his face to look towards her's, eyes swelling with tears in her blue eyes. she knew these were her last moments, and she did not want them to be filled with the ceiling but on somebody she loved. could of been arthur, michael, finn- anybody. her hand finally unclutched the single rose as polly kneeled down. "i'm sorry, i'm so sorry!" tommy cried looking down at rebecca. he cried, as she was losing her grasp on this world. arthur was the first one to look back at his sister, then john and then michael. it was as if time was frozen, as the four men in her life watched her breathing her last few breathes. "im sorry." tommy whispered again, words spitting with salty tears. rebecca shook her head, "you did-did everything you thought was right. i-i-i could never fault you for that tommy." she said slowly and brokenly. "i love you so much, tommy." she cried out, and that made tommy cry even harder. "i love you too, blondie." he sobbed. arthur fell to his knees, as rebecca slowly took one last breathe; fighting gravity as her chest weighed down. once tommy realized she'd stop breathing, he lost it. his sister was not supposed to leave this world at the hands of his doings. she was supposed to live a long beautiful life somewhere far away from here, with her two kids, dog and husband she'd long to have. she was supposed to get out of this place and never look back. she was never meant to have her demise be here in birmingham.
tommy cluthed his sister's lifeless body as his world was breaking. polly clung to michael who'd now kneeled beside her. arthur sobbed face down and john grabbed ahold of olivia as she tried to see where her best friend was.
rebecca amelia shelby, the long lost daughter of the shelby clan, the one who shall not be named would be named forever in this town of birmingham.

can I request r comforting rhea after she wasn't able to be cleared in time for MITB to face Bianca for the title
Guys my rhea obsession has come back to life, send requests lol
Cleared
Rhea Ripley x JD member!reader
Summary: Rhea won't be cleared on time for a title shot
Tumblr media
"One! Two! Three!" the bell rang, Rhea had won. She's the number one contender for the Raw women's title against Bianca Belair next week at money in the back.
Although, she still laid on the ring with a pained look on her face, hand clutching her jaw. You slid into the ring alongside Finn and Priest, checking up on her.
"Rhea?" you called, moving her hand out of her face so you can see her properly. You let out a gasp as blood trickled down her chin and helped her stand up to raise her hand in front of the crowd.
After the cameras were cut for commercial break, you pulled her hand and took her backstage, the medic immediately approaching to check up on her.
She pushed them away, not wanting anyone to touch her right now but you cupped her face. "Rhea, you're hurt. Let them check on you"
She gave in and let them take her to a separate room. After a while, she came back with an angry look on her face. She shook her head at you when you gave her a questioning eyebrow.
"I won't be cleared in time. All this, was for nothing" You pulled her into you, your chin resting on her shoulder.
"There's always another time" you assured, hands rubbing on her sore back.
"No there isn't!" she snapped, pushing you off her. "There isn't another time! they wouldn't give me another match, I've been begging them for this one for over a year!"
You sighed as you watched her walk away. You decided to give her space for a while.
You texted her that Raquel will be taking you to the hotel. You took a little too long in the lobby though, giving Rhea a bit more time to herself before you swiped the key card on the doorknob, getting in, and throwing your duffel bag to the corner of the room.
There she was, sitting on the couch in front of the bed with her head in her hands. When she heard the door shut, she looked up at you with a weak smile.
"Why'd you leave without me?" she stood up, walking up to you with her hands in her pockets.
You shrugged, "you were upset, I wanted to give you some time alone"
She shook her head, resting her head on your shoulder. "I'm sorry, it wasn't your fault my leg got caught up in the rope" you wrapped your arms around her taller form, kissing her shoulder.
"Love, it's alright..I know it must be frustrating but I know they'll give you another chance" she gave you a grunt and you knew she still doesn't agree.
You changed into comfier clothes before laying in bed. You let her lay with her back on your chest so she can watch whatever was on TV while you ran your fingers through her hair.
She was getting less tense by the minute and looked up to see you before taking your hand in hers to play with your fingers "They told me I need to get scans for my head and teeth..you coming with me tomorrow?"
You smiled, leaning down a bit to place a kiss on her forehead, "of course."
You wished you could finally see her take her title back, but you knew her safety comes first.

I finished Comet King’s Design!
This is how Simon looks after 1000 years under the influence of the crown.
More info about the design and Au under the cut:
The design is based half off of the Lich - the bones, gore and horns - and half off of Gunther - the tail, digitigrade legs, teeth/claws and wings (either the wings are from the underlying part of Gunther that wanted to be like evergreen or the curse ‘evolved’ and went from Dino features to bird - I just wanted wings lol).
He’s lost most of his memories, but isn’t quite as insane as the Ice King since the wish was made before the Lich really had a persona beyond evilness for the crown to copy. Though how ‘evil’ he is depends on the current state of the Lich.
When he first put on the crown, the influence wasn’t at full strength but the Lich’s essence was at work causing the mushroom war so Simon was struggling with the crown’s influence.
Then the mushroom bomb lands and the Lich is properly ‘born’, the crown’s influence is at its strongest and Simon is lucky the wish hadn’t taken full effect yet but the bomb did change something in the crown, making Simon different to the rest of those who’d worn it. It made Simon pretty much deathless.
Cut forward to when Finn and Jake first reawaken him - sometime during this Aus equivalent of the first season - he’s more himself with no strong urges to cause the destruction of all living things, he even becomes friends with Finn and Jake.
Then when the Lich is released from his amber prison, that’s when Simon falls under the crown’s influence once more.

a/n pt 2: lol the gif literally has nothing to do with the story but it was the best i could do okay
Tumblr media
“Y/n.”
The sound of Finn’s voice wasn’t enough to cut through the thick layer of worry that draped over you. You paced across your small office. Your mind displayed horrible scenarios, spiraling you into a deeper worry than you already were in.
The man shook his head, catching your shoulders and stopping your pacing. He waited as your glassed eyes flicked across the room before finally focusing on his face. You gaze studied his face for any indication of why he was here, because as of right now, you were denying the gnawing feeling that was sending you into a frenzy.
Poe wasn’t- he’s fine, right? That was the question that occupied every thought you had, shaking you down to the core and preventing you from doing anything else but worry.
And oh Maker, Finn could see it in your face. The bags under your normally bright eyes, the grim line that resembled your lips, the way your eyebrows pulled together and created a wrinkle on your forehead. Even your stance with him, one of your closest friends, was defensive.
“Finn?” Your voice was gravelly from crying and not speaking, your eyes weary but hopeful.
The man sighed, dropping his arms. “I’m sorry, still nothing.”
You swallowed sharply. “Okay.”
“Y/n-“
“It’s fine! Don’t say sorry, I’m okay.”
Finn raised an eyebrow. “Mhm.”
“What?” Your tone now matched your stance as you stepped back.
“You look like you haven’t slept in weeks. No, years.”
You sighed, plopping down on the bed made for patients. “I feel like I haven’t. Really it’s only been a few days.”
Finn gingerly placed himself next to you, resisting the urge to succumb to the same sadness. “I know it’s hard, but he wouldn’t want you to worry.”
You scoffed. “If that was his wish, then he’d be back by now.”
“He’s gonna be okay.”
“Is he?” Your voice was barely above a whisper as you voiced your fear.
“I don’t know for sure, but,” you glanced at Finn, ready to hear his uplifting words. “This is Poe we’re talking about here. Poe Dameron. He’s a good man and an even better pilot. He’s the best of the best, and he hasn’t let us down yet. Let’s not give up hope on our flyboy now, okay?”
You nodded silently. “Ill give him one more day. Then-“
Finn wrapped an arm around you, scooting closer. “Don’t go there.”
You bit your lip. “Okay.”
Finn turned to look at you, eyes downcast and hands wrapped tightly around one another, but he could see the sad smile blooming on your lips. “You need to sleep, y/n.”
You ignored his earlier comment, only offering a “Thank you, Finn.”
The said man’s eyebrows knitted. “For what?”
“For always being there,” you looked at him. “For cheering me up when I feel like I’m gonna lose him forever.”
Finn smiled. “Anytime.”
——
You woke to a beeping sound, causing you to jolt and shoot upwards. Your head swiveled violently as you assessed your surroundings. You vaguely remember Finn leaving, demanding you to go to sleep.
Huh. You must’ve fallen asleep.
You cheered happily, over the moon for a grand total of five seconds, which is when you remembered three things. One, you weren’t able to sleep because Poe was gone. Two, you’d slept for ten hours. Three, that really loud and annoying ringing was the emergency bell. Someone was coming in for help.
You shot up, gathering your medical tools and readying yourself for immediate action. The shouts from outside got louder, and you winced at the ferocity of Snap’s worried voice. And then the door was shoved open and the entire Black squadron was crowding into your office, Snap carrying the wounded person. You looked down and-
No.
No, no no no no no-
You swallowed your scream and instructed Snap to place him down. Tears dotted your vision as you bent over your boyfriends bleeding face. You assessed him immediately, shoving your worry out of your head and focusing on helping him. You cried softly as you trailed your hands down his body gingerly, testing for anything out of the ordinary.
You let out a heavy sigh as you decided that it was mostly cuts and bruises, no punctured kidneys or internal bleeding. You got the medical assistant droid you had to scan him to make sure before turning and telling the squadron the news.
“He’s got a shit ton of cuts, as you can see. He’s taken some damage, but everything will heal and he’ll be able to fly again.” You smiled at the sighs of relief from the pilots.
“How long till he’s back?” Karé questioned from behind some heads.
“I would say a few days? I got some bacta that Leia wants me to use.” You answered as per BB-8’s frantic beeping.
The squadron filed out after that, but Snap faltered at the door. “L/n?”
You looked up from where you were applying bacta to a deep cut on Poe’s lower abdomen. “Mhm?”
“Thank you.”
You smiled grimly. “It’s my job.”
“No, it’s more than just a job. You’re saving our best pilot, but also our leader and friend. Thank you for that.”
You nodded. “Anytime. And I mean that. I don’t care if it’s 3am. Come to me if he’s hurt.”
It was Snap’s turn to smile. “I promise.”
You returned to the task at hand, spraying the bacta onto the rest of his cut. Your eyebrows were pulled up and your gaze flickered over the half unzipped flight suit, watching his chest rise and fall.
He’s okay, You told yourself. He’s okay, he’s alive, he’s breathing.
But he wasn’t awake. And that’s what was really worrying you. It was that little part of your brain saying that he might never wake up.
——
You spun in your chair to face Poe for what felt like the millionth time, constantly making sure his chest rose and fell. You turned back to finish a bland report, eyes droopy and tired. Exasperated, you threw down the data pad and walked over to the pilot.
It was then that you realized his hands up close. You winced at the dried blood around the knuckles, supposedly from when the glass window of his x-wing had shattered. Grabbing gauze and some wet wipes, you picked up his right hand, gingerly wiping it down.
To your surprise, Poe grumbled drowsily, trying to yank his hand back into his chest. Your grip tightened, but the rest of your body froze. “Poe?” You said quietly, eyes wide. Your voice must’ve triggered something in him, because he shot upwards. Or he tried to, but was held down by your firm push on his chest.
“Y/n?” He responded, voice as gravelly as yours was but oh so familiar, wrapping you in a blanket.
“Oh thank the Maker.” You dropped his hand and scooted closer, wrapping your arms around his shoulders.
“You sound relieved.”
You rolled your eyes, pulling away. “I thought you were dead.”
“You have such little faith in my ability to not die.” He cracked a half grin.
“Poe! Not funny.”
“Alright, I’m sorry.”
“You better be.” You huffed, picking his hand back up and cleaning the last of the blood.
He winced. “That hurts.”
You let out a small chuckle. “It’s antiseptic, it’s gonna sting a bit.”
“Well, don’t you have some sort of magical medic shit that helps the pain go away?”
You grabbed his other hand, wiping away the blood with a smile. “It’s barely anything and I’ll be done in like ten seconds. Relax.”
“C’mon sweets, gimme some numbing agent.” His eyes pulled into a plead.
You chortled, placing a kiss in between his brows. “I’m done, silly.”
“Oh,” Poe looked down at his now clean hands. “Never mind then.”
You held up the gauze. “Last step!”
Poe groaned. “You said you were done.”
You sent him a smirk. “And here I was thinking you liked jokes.”
“You suck.”
“You love me.”
Poe fell silent after your sentence, and you focused on wrapping his hands, unaware that you said something… big. You hummed a tune you’d been introduced to by Finn, scooting closer to Poe’s face to place his arm in a more comfortable position.
Meanwhile, Poe watched you intently. He admired the careful precision your deft fingers practiced as you wrapped the gauze, always tying it just tight enough to be snug but not cut off his circulation. Your eyes were bright and happy, but he could see the bags under your eyes from lack of sleep. He internally cursed himself for putting you through that dreadful downward spiral of worry.
He stared and stared, watching your eyelashes flutter and the oh so soft touch of your fingers on his skin. Oh Maker, he missed you so much. The close attention from you wasn’t new, but it felt so different now that he knew that you worried about him, couldn’t sleep while he was gone.
He wasn’t used to care. Sure, he had Leia, but she was like a mother and he saw her extend the same curtsies to others she’d picked up from various places. He appreciated it all, but it wasn’t exclusive to him.
But you. You only did this to him. He’d watched you work, because it was mesmerizing and he took any time he could to be with you. The worry and the insomnia and the intense care and the special gauze? That was secluded to him and him only. And the bacta. You hadn’t told him, but he could see the way the skin on his lower abdomen was healing unnaturally quick. The pure love that you gave him was something he didn’t feel worthy of and he didn’t see what you saw in him, but it was making him flustered nonetheless.
Maker.
He was flustered? Poe couldn’t recall the last time he’d felt like this. The thought only made his face redder, and he resisted the urge to bring his free hand up to cover his hot face.
And so when you finished wrapping his hand and looked up, you were met with Poe’s red face and his eyes darting anywhere but your own face. You furrowed your eyebrows, unaware that he was ruffled.
Your eyes widened sharply and your hands flew to his face. “Poe?” Your tone was laced with so much worry that his face only became redder. “What’s going on? Are you okay? Do you have a fever?”
He kept his eyes looking outward, becoming slightly glassy with his lack of blinking. You brushed back the curls from his forehead, touching the back of your hand to it. “No fever, but his eyes are glassy,” you racked your brain for a solution. “What the hell is going on?”
Poe made the mistake of meeting your eyes, full and worried but as bright as ever. His hands covered his face in flash and he groaned.
You frowned. “Poe?”
“Mmm.” Came his muffled response as his legs curled up.
“What’s going on? Are you hot? I can turn down the thermostat-“
Poe realized then that he was causing you more worry and was just gonna make it worse, so he dropped his knees and grabbed your face in one fluid motion. You squeaked in surprise, nearly falling into his chest but catching yourself just in time, leading you to have one arm on either side of his body. “Huh?” You murmured as he tilted his forehead to yours.
“I’m okay.”
“Are you sure?” The worry was evident in your tone.
“Yeah,” he took a deep breath. “You just make me overwhelmed sometimes.”
The pieces clicked, flushing your cheeks immediately. He was red because you made him flustered. Poe Dameron, flustered? It was hard to wrap your head around. You were having even more trouble comprehending that you did it. You. Your mind raked over what you possibly could have done to make him flustered, but it wasn’t working properly after that confession. The lack of sleep you had gotten in the past few days didn’t help either.
“I did that?” You motioned to his face.
“Yeah?” He shrugged to play off the nervousness undertone.
“Wha- how?” You voiced your thoughts timidly.
“I don’t really know,” he mumbled, full of lies. “You just- you care so much. It’s new for me.”
You pulled away from him, frustrated at what he felt. “You’re the most caring person I’ve ever met. Poe, you always always try to help everyone before yourself, you’re willing to take a risk if it meant saving something in the long run. You are such a confident leader, which is admirable in itself. But then you have to go and add on the fact that you know your way around any type of ship, not to mention your the best pilot the resistance has, you can both fly and fix your ship, and you still find time between all of the things you have to do to make time to meet and get to know everyone on this base? That’s insane, and we all care about you so much. I care about you so much. This,” you motioned to his arm. “Is the least I can do to thank you.”
Poe stared at you, wide eyed. “You really believe that?”
You smiled earnestly. “Of course.”
His eyes softened even more and he raised a bandaged hand to caress your cheek. “I love you too.”
You frowned. “You-“
He nodded.
You grinned brighter than he’d ever seen. “I love you three.”

His skin, scales, and tail are dark purple with peculiar black markings in some places, and his enture body is riddled with scar tissue. His fins are full of holes and tears. His claws are long, sharp, and black. His teeth are long and sharp and scary. He has visible stretch marks, and he's (finally) starting to get a bit chubby.
Silas has a band of black scales around his neck, and from just below that all the way to his navel are photophores that glow in the dark, which helps him camouflage and can even make him look like a school of fish from below.
Obviously, as a mer, he doesn't wear clothes, but he does wear both his and his husband's courting gifts to each other: necklaces of orca teeth and shell, each has a volute and skeletal murex shell respectively. He wears a ribcage around part of his tail as decor. Sometimes he wears his wedding jewellery as well.
Personality:
Silas is a gruff, quiet, and serious man with a bit of a sadistic streak. He does have a general no-nonsense attitude, but he is very warm and loving to Finn (and later on Chrysos) and does his best to raise Finn with the love and support he needs. He wants Finn to make friends and is the one who encouraged him to go to NRC in the first place. He's very protective and is aggressive on rare occasions (unlike when he was younger). He's clever and is prone to sarcastic or dry humour. Don't be fooled, he's quite kind when he wants to be, just few get to see it.
Some Fun Facts/Extra Info:
•Silas supplies Mrs Ashengrotto (and later on Azul) with fish along with other meats for her restaurant
•He has a deal with the tweels' parents in which he disposes of their unwanted "prey" (cough enemies cough) in return for their protection
•He is a very powerful sorcerer that is well versed in Abyssal magic
•He can see Finn's siblings as well and doesn't know what to do about them. He wishes they didn't scare Finn so much
•Azul is quite intimidated by him, lol
•Silas likes the octotrio and considers them a good match for Finn
•He allows older teens looking for extra income to work for him part-time
•He's got a soft spot for kids (teens count as kids too to him)

Because I am obsessed and greedy: stalker!Tommy and 45 🖤
CW: non-consensual kiss!!!!
(this is not canon to the actual fic btw, but there will be something similar in the final chapter, just more fucked up lol)
45: out of anger
This whole mess is really starting to get to Tommy. He initially did believe that spending time with Jere in this cramped space would only strengthen their bond. That Jere would slowly start to see the bright side to all of this.
But he was wrong.
Because just a few minutes earlier, Jere tried to run. The moment Tommy untied him from the chair he'd sprinted towards the doors of the shed. The Estonian fucking freed him to make sure he's comfortable and the thanks he got in return was an attempt to escape. Escaping is a dramatic way to put it even. It's not like this is a prison cell.
It was stupid anyways. Jere didn't get very far before Tommy simply took two strides and grabbed him from behind. The small Finn had been fierce, though, making up for what he lacked in height by biting at any flesh he could reach and scratching.
Tommy rubs at his injured arm, trailing his fingers over the deep bite marks scattered everywhere. In another context he might've found it sexy, but right now, he only feels hurt. How could Jere do this to him?
After what feels like an eternity of staring at each other, Jere now safely tied to the chair again, the rapper speaks.
"I hate you." Jere mumbles under his breath, trembling, still loud enough for Tommy to hear.
The brunette tilts his head to the side at the words, confused. "No you don't."
"Yes." The Finn insists through gritted teeth. "I-I hate you, Tommy!"
Tommy feels white hot anger churning in his gut, stepping forward, bracing a hand on the back of the chair to glare down at Jere. Blue eyes defiantly look back at him and it makes the Estonian even angrier that Jere is showing no remorse at all for the hurtful words.
"No. You. Don't." Tommy forces out, voice strained.
Jere scoffs in response. Tommy has never ever been angry at the other man and it makes him feel sick to his stomach that his lover is practically coaxing him to be mad.
"Yes I-"
Tommy gets fed up, reaching out a hand to grip Jere's face, closing in as the Finn struggles. He keeps Jere held in place with a firm hold on his jaw while he forcefully presses his lips against the rapper's. The last thing he wants is to hurt Jere so this is the best possible outlet.
He licks into the tight space of Jere's mouth, the younger man stubbornly trying to snap his jaw shut. But this is about proving a point, so Tommy keeps going until he can feel his boyfriend start to gasp for breath.
When he pulls away, Jere is panting like he ran a marathon, blinking up at Tommy with wide eyes as if in disbelief. The Estonian simply stares back at him.
"No, you don't." Tommy tells him.

OTP ASKS GAME | T.S x OC
A/N: Absolutely no one asked for this, but you can't judge a girl for loving her OC, right? HERE is the template of the questions and yes, I'm encouraging my lovely mutuals to take a look at them because they really make you think deeper into your characters and I actually had fun with it! Also, the numbers are out of order because I only answered 31 out of 40, I thought it'd be better to keep the original order
Tumblr media
1. Who most initiates PDA? Neither of them are really into PDA but before the war Tommy did it most, he enjoyed pressing a small kiss in Eleanor's temple when no one was watching just to get a shy/scolding look from her.
After the war though, Ellie always has a hand on his back or shoulder, it's grounding to him and reassuring to her.
2. Any sleep habits either had to get used to? Remember that scene in season 1 in which he is sleeping with his boots on, feet off the bed and an opium pipe in hand? That would've pissed her off to catastrophic levels because →
• The bed is clean and Tommy's boots are dirty
• He's ruining his already damaged back
• Where the hell is the blanket?
• She just knows he didn't brush his teeth, had water or took a wee
The thing is, Eleanor has an established routine while Tom contents himself with just laying down and if he gets any sleep, he's lucky. Once they adapted themselves he sleeps a little bit better because he sort of conditioned his brain into getting sleepy doing the "routine"
3. Hot and Steamy or Soft and Tender? Yes. Just kidding, it depends on their mood, Tommy enjoys sex in general and the only "demand" Ellie has is to be the closest as possible, which is possible at any pace.
4. How did they first meet? Tommy tried to steal some things for baby Finn at a grocery store and got caught. Eleanor happened to be there and noticed the owner of the store would beat the shit out of him, she didn't think it was fair and paid for the groceries. Out of gratitude, he walked her home afterwards.
5. What is their love language? Touch takes the first place, they don't say I love you often or consider themselves good at verbalizing feelings but if you pay close attention you'll notice they're always touching each other, be it touching feet under a table, resting a hand on the other's leg or touching elbows when standing together.
6. When did they realize they loved each other? They weren't officially together yet. For her, when she realized how utterly heartbroken she was thinking he was responsible for the robbery at her mother's shop (which he wasn't by the way), in her mind he had betrayed her, becoming exactly who her mother said he was and yet, she kept wishing he didn't have because she didn't want to stay away from him.
For him, when they went to a communist meeting and she enthusiastically talked to everyone, he felt a mix of joy for seeing her happy, with jealousy because she wasn't giving him attention.
7. Who is more sentimental? Eleanor. She keeps many of Theo's (her baby brother), Finn's and Tommy's old belongings, especially things like their first ties, hats or pocket watches.
Tommy is way too attached to "the past is in the past" to collect objects like that, however after her death in 1929, he kept all her discos, books and jewelry for their daughters to inherit, her clothes were only donated because he knew it's what she'd have wanted. The only exception is the gold bracelet she never took off, that is his, in his silly little head it still smells like her (it doesn't).
8. What’s one way their personalities complement one another? Besides being two introverts, they're very organized, determined and ambitious people (p.s - however, Tommy's ambition comes from trauma, Eleanor's doesn't, so she knew when to stop, he didn't ).
9. How are their personalities different? Tommy is realistic and spiritual (in his own ways lol) while Ellie is pessimistic and skeptical.
10. What are some non-sexual activities they do together? Much like cats, they're more than able to coexist in the same room minding their own business, but some things they enjoy doing actually together is having lunch/dinner or napping on the other's lap while they read a book.
11. Which member is more physically affectionate? Tommy initiates it more often at the privacy of home, doesn't necessarily mean he is more affectionate because touch is how they both show affection, but at home, he's the one to start it.
12. Which member is more verbally affectionate? Eleanor, mainly in a teasing way, she'll whistle, call him handsome or stud, anything that'll get him blushing and fussy.
13. Which member steals/borrows the other one's clothing? Eleanor because obviously Tommy wouldn't steal her dresses (perhaps her coats on some modern!AU). She's personally fond of rummaging his wardrobe for socks, shirts, sweaters and scarves.
14. Are they an introverted couple or an extroverted one—AKA would they prefer to go out to a party or event together or would they rather stay in? 100% introverted, especially after the war, if an event isn't related to the company or isn't a family occasion they're probably not going.
15. Who is more likely to make an impulsive decision and who is the voice of reason? Surprisingly, Tommy is way more impulsive, his arrogance pushes him into reckless decisions and Eleanor has to talk him out of it.
For example, in 1924 she wanted to deal with the Italians situation by firing Lizzie, then having John apologizing, or not killing Vincent Changretta after he made her get shot in an attempt to kill Tommy. He didn't listen and we know how it ended.
16. Who stays up way too late and who tries to drag them to bed? Tommy and his crazy sleeping schedule get on her nerves, sometimes she doesn't even say anything, she just shows up in his office and he knows, he follows her to bed without questioning.
17. Who fell in love first? Tommy did and oh, poor boy, it took a while to woo her.
18. What song fits them perfectly? Love me tender's cover by Pato Fu, the lyrics aren't very complex but are sweet, it's personally the song I picture for them if Ellie was a real character.
19. How do they deal with being away from each other for a long time? Fun fact: There's a bell in between his and her office because they're on different floors. When they're both home it rings from two in two hours, it was meant to be used when they have important things to say, but they actually use it whenever they want to see the other.
To be true, the only time they spent a long time away from each other was during the war. However, if they were to be apart, they'd call each other every day and unavoidably become more verbally affectionate, he'd spend some time thinking about her especially in the mornings and before sleeping, while she'd use his shirts as a pillowcase like a fool in love.
20. Who holds a grudge the longest? Oh woah, we're talking about two very proud people, but I'd say Eleanor, it's very toxic of her to give the silent treatment but she just can't avoid it. And at first, Tommy in his endless pride and anger swears he won't give in, he eventually does because he can't sleep well without their feet touching or focus on his paperwork when he's so tempted to ring the bell to her office.
27. What random everyday object/activity makes them think of each other? Not surprisingly, Ellie thinks of Tommy when she sees cigarette cases or red ties, she thinks they fit him well.
Now, Tommy is a certified coffee maker™ here, she always asks him to make some so its scent makes him think of her.
28. Do they get along with each other’s friends and family? I won't try to defend Eleanor, she had fights with each Shelby member at some point because even if Tommy is wrong, she tends to side with him, she's the typical "no one can be mean to my husband but me" wife.
She fiercely believes he infantilizes people, in 1919 for example, she didn't understand why he was so worried about Ada, she believed her sister-in-law was a grown woman and if she wanted to risk her life sneaking around with a communist racketeer, that was her choice. All she worried about was Karl and her and Ada had a big fight when she threatened to take the baby when he was born.
In 1924 she fought John for being dumb and threatening the Changrettas, and in 1926 she fought everyone who thought it was a good idea to push a prostitute into Finn.
Long short answer: Eleanor gets along with everyone, she's able to remain cordial, but she absolutely will pick up a fight if someone crosses hers, Finn's or Tommy's way, be it a Shelby or not.
Now, Eleanor's family is a complicated subject, her mother Ruth was never the same after her husband's death and Ellie doesn't remember much of her dad. Ruth never liked Tommy because he's a gangster, bad rumors always surrounded him and she simply doesn't understand what her daughter sees in a *Campbell's voice* murdering, cutthroat, mongrel gangster.
Theodore, the baby brother, sort of admires Tommy, if his sister loves him so much he can't be that bad, right?
29. What is their sex life like? Considering they were together for seventeen years, it's pretty well rounded. Tommy isn't that much of a whore in this AU, he had 5 or 6 people including Ellie and a few prostitutes, while she only had 3, the boy she lost her virginity to, Tommy and the woman she cheated with.
Out of the seven days of the week, I'd say they're doing it 3 or 4 times, mostly uneventful but not in a bad way, more like an intimate one.
They're both switches, varying between subs and soft doms at most, sometimes they try some different things such as bondage or unusual positions, but usually they stick to cowgirl/missionary and blindfold the other, they're actually fairly vanilla.
30. What is their favorite place to kiss the other? (Cheek, hand, closed eyelid, neck, nose, etc.) Tommy is very fond of her neck, it's where her scent lingers the most and he loves watching her trying not to laugh from the ticklish feeling.
Now, Ellie is a simple woman, she likes his lips, his wrists or the shaven sides of his head are a good call too but it doesn't come close to that cute little pout.
31. What’s the relationship like? Smooth? Rocky?I'd say something between both, the business makes them argue a lot, in 1922 for example, she got really mad at him for leaving the hospital to see Alfie without any warnings, but they usually make peace soon.
33. Who has the most nightmares and how do they deal with them? Tommy never stopped having nightmares about the tunnels and through his life he got other subjects to have nightmares about, such as John's death, his daughter being kidnapped, even his mum comes to haunt him sometimes.
Eleanor is a heavy sleeper but since they sleep touching each other, she wakes up when he moves abruptly. Unfortunately there was no solution for his PTSD, love can't heal him, so the best she does is soothing him, assuring he's safe and the shovels aren't real, bringing him a glass of water or tea and keeping him company until he sleeps again.
34. Do they give each other nicknames? I mean…Tommy and Ellie are nicknames, other than that they use love or darling, but it's not often.
Tommy is rather fond of being called darling though, it gets him all fussy especially if used in front of the family.
37. What do they like the least about each other? Eleanor's skepticism towards any mystical belief of Tommy was subject of argument more than once. She doesn't believe in curses, spirits, luck, fortune telling or anything alike, she doesn't know how a man smart as him can believe in what she deems as parlor tricks and he doesn't understand how she can simply not see what's right there
38. What was their most memorable date? Probably the one in which they had their first kiss, a small birthday party of a friend they didn't even consider a date, but ended up being special for both of them.
39. What other couple would your otp get along with the best? Well, Tommy managed to turn the whole family against him at some point, but Polly x Aberama and John x Esme in 1919
40. Who makes the other smile with almost no effort at all? Surprisingly or not, Tommy, he can make Ellie smile by simply having a glass of water, eating a healthy meal or looking particularly cute while resting in the sun.

Quarantine
Finn and Poe are on a mission for General Leia and end up having to be quarantined together for two weeks. This story takes place sometime between the battle on Crait and the events of TRoS. I originally wrote this in 2020 during … well, you can probably figure it out, lol.
Tumblr media
Poe Dameron hated this stupid ship. Give me an X-wing any day, he thought as he fought the stiff yoke on the bucket of bolts he and his friend Finn were traveling in. It was a nondescript little freighter, barely big enough for two crewmen and a small amount of cargo, but it had absolutely no connection with the Resistance and it was big enough for what they needed on this mission. So, he was stuck with it.
“You’re coming in awfully fast, Poe,” Finn said.
“Really? I hadn’t noticed,” Poe said through gritted teeth. The engines groaned as he throttled them down and pulled up on the yoke, trying to drop the ship as gracefully as possible onto the landing pad they had been directed to. Finally, he managed to bring her down with only a minor thump.
Finn opened his mouth, but Poe shushed him with a raised finger. “Say one word, buddy, and I’ll blast you. I hate this fucking ship!” He kicked the dashboard as he crawled out of the pilot’s seat, which caused three different alarms to go off. He slammed his fist down on top of the dash, and they went off.
“Whoever bought this piece of junk needs to be fired,” he muttered as he left the cramped cockpit.
“I think it was Leia,” said Finn. Of course, Poe thought. She’d probably gotten a good laugh out of the look on his face when he saw the Firefly and found out he was going to be flying it.
They walked to the hatch and Poe keyed in the sequence to drop the ramp. The flight had been short enough, just over two hours, mostly in hyperspace, but he was more than ready to get off the ship and stretch his legs. Unfortunately, the ramp did not deploy.
“What the …,” he tapped in the sequence again but the ramp refused to open. “I swear …” He was interrupted by the buzz of the comm unit.
“Ground control to Firefly,” said the slightly metallic voice of the flight controller who had directed them to the landing pad. “Please cease attempting to open your hatch.”
Poe thumbed the button on the comm panel. “What? How else are we supposed to get out?”
“You are offworlders,” the flight controller said slowly. “You are under a mandatory 14 day quarantine before you will be allowed off your ship. Was this not explained to you before you filed your flight plans?”
“No, it very much was not,” Poe replied. He looked at Finn, who shook his head, clearly as baffled as Poe was. “Look, we have business here and we can’t wait 14 days to take care of it.”
“You can leave, or you can wait out the quarantine,” the flight controller said. “Those are your options. After the Soronian virus pandemic, we are extremely careful about outside visitors to our planet.”
Poe leaned against the wall. “So, what do we do?”
Finn sighed. “I don’t know. How important is this cargo?”
“Important enough that Leia sent us to get it,” Poe replied. “But is it important enough to wait two weeks for?” He ran his hand through his hair. “Nothing for it but to comm her and ask her what to do.”
They went back to the cockpit to send an encoded message to the General.
***************************
“So, fourteen days, huh?” Finn said. Poe looked ready to punch someone, and since it was only the two of them on board, Finn kept his distance.
“Yeah,” Poe sighed. “I hope this whatever-it-is is worth it.” Leia had commiserated with them over their misfortune but insisted that the cargo was too important to pass up, although she had declined to tell them what it was.
“Me, too,” Finn said. He hesitated a moment before going on. “Is it really going to be that bad having to spend two weeks with me?”
Poe looked up, startled. “Oh, no, no buddy. It’s not you,” he said quickly. “I can’t think of anyone I’d rather be stuck in quarantine with. It’s this damn ship.” He looked around with a sigh. “I think it hates me as much as I hate it.”
“It is kind of small,” Finn admitted. “I suppose we should check out the amenities, if there are any.” They had planned to simply fly in, collect their cargo, and fly back out. He had no idea what kind of bunk space the ship had, or how big the ‘fresher was.
He stood up and stretched, almost knocking his hands against the walls of the cockpit, before walking back down the corridor. Just past the hatch was the door to the cargo bay; on the wall opposite the hatch were two smaller doors. One opened onto a tiny ‘fresher with a sink barely big enough to wash a child’s hands. The other opened onto a bedroom with a single bunk and not much else.
He felt Poe come up behind him and look around his shoulder. “Well, that’s not good news,” the pilot said. “No shower, not even a sonic? And only one bed?”
“Yeah,” said Finn. “Maybe we should sleep in shifts? I don’t think there’s even enough room in there for one of us to sleep on the floor.”
“Let’s check out the cargo bay,” Poe said. “Maybe one of us can camp out in there.”
They opened the cargo bay door. “Or not,” said Poe. The bay had no floor, just a crisscross of struts on which shelving or flooring could be placed to configure the storage area however it was needed. Unfortunately, there was no shelving or flooring on board.
Finn swallowed the lump that had suddenly appeared in his throat. “We could share,” he suggested tentatively. “The room’s not that big but the bed looks wide enough for two …” He didn’t know why the idea of sharing a bed with Poe should make him feel so nervous; soldiers and pilots were used to bunking down in all manner of places, with any number of others crammed into the tiniest spaces.
Poe smiled at him, and Finn felt an odd sensation in his stomach. “Yeah, that might work.”
************************
Where did that come from? Poe thought. When Finn suggested they could share the bunk, Poe felt a grin spread across his face and a flush rise in his cheeks. It was a familiar reaction to being invited into someone’s bed, but he’d never expected to feel this way about Finn. They were friends, for kriff’s sake! And anyway, he was pretty sure Finn was in love with Rey. He certainly talked about her enough …
Get a grip, Dameron, he told himself. There were more important things to worry about, like the state of the food supply on board.
“Have you checked on the rations yet?,” he asked. “Fourteen days is a long time without food.”
Finn looked worried, which Poe found endearing. Ever since escaping the First Order, Finn’s favorite part of being with the Resistance was the availability of food whenever he wanted it. Stormtroopers were given nutritional rations at specific times, carefully calculated to provide exactly the right amount of calories and nutrients for each soldier’s height and weight. The existence of snacks, and the ability to choose his own food at meal times had been a revelation.
They started opening cabinets and found a stash of ration bars, about a dozen portions of insta-bread, and three bottles of beer. “Well, it could be worse,” Poe said as they stared at the meager supply.
“How?,” asked Finn.
“There could have been no beer,” Poe replied. Finn hmphed, clearly not amused by his little joke. “Aw, come on, buddy, I was kidding. Maybe the powers that be will send us a care package. Can’t hurt to ask.”
He went over to the closest comm panel and hailed the flight controller.
“Yes, Firefly?”
“Um, yeah, we’re a little underprepared for a fourteen day quarantine. Any chance of getting some food delivered?”
The line was quiet long enough that Poe thought maybe the flight controller was just going to let them die, but then he heard a burst of static. “That can be arranged,” the flight controller said carefully. “We will have to consult with our epidemiologists to determine the best way to transfer rations to you without risk of exposure. Give us a few hours and we’ll get back to you.”
Poe shrugged. “At least they’re looking into it,” he said. Finn still looked dubious, but Poe was already calculating how to divvy up the rations they did have. It wouldn’t be pretty, but they could just about manage two weeks on severely reduced rations if they were careful. He’d been in worse situations before, having once crash landed his X-wing on an uninhabited planet and spent eight days with nothing but the water that dripped from the foliage into his water bottle.
He patted Finn on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, buddy. Even if they refuse, we won’t starve to death.”
“Oh, I know,” Finn said, “but … I’m not looking forward to it.” He sat down, resting his arms on his knees and letting his hands dangle in front of him. He looked up at Poe, smiling ruefully. “Guess I’ve gotten spoiled, huh?”
Poe sat down beside him. “I won’t be thrilled about it, either,” he admitted, “but I know we can do it if we have to. We’re heroes, you know.” He bumped his shoulder against Finn’s, feeling that flush of heat in his face again. He turned his head away so Finn wouldn’t see, but he heard the other man’s chuckle.
“Yeah, that’s true,” he said. “I am kind of a Big Deal in the Resistance.” He bumped Poe back and then slung his arm around his shoulders. Poe tried not to lean into the hug too much, but it was hard not to. Finn gave very good hugs … and he smelled way too good for someone who’d been in a cockpit for two hours.
************************
In the end, the authorities agreed that they could open their hatch for exactly 60 seconds to allow a small droid to deliver a crate of food, on the condition that they keep the droid on board until their quarantine was completed … and pay an exorbitant amount for both the supplies and the rental of the droid.
At least the food was good stuff; the crate even included a selection of desserts and a couple of bottles of something that Poe insisted was strong enough to be used as rocket fuel in an emergency … but tasted much better.
The droid tucked itself into a corner and powered down, beeping a quick message before its lights dimmed. “What’d it say?” Finn asked. He was still at a loss with Binary, but he knew Poe was fluent, having spent so much time with BB-8 over the years.
“It said, ‘See you in two weeks,’” he said. “At least we don’t have to keep it entertained.”
They busied themselves unpacking the crate and sorting out the food, but once that was done, there was nothing left to do but stare at the walls.
“So,” Poe said. “What do you want to do?” He held up his hand and ticked their choices off on his fingers. “We could get drunk, take something apart and put it back together, reprogram the droid to say rude things, play Truth or Dare … or get drunk.”
“Truth or Dare?” Finn asked. “What’s that?”
Poe blinked. “Oh, right, you never … well, it’s a stupid game teenagers play at parties. Someone asks a question and you either have to answer it truthfully … or take a dare.” He laughed uncomfortably. “Mostly it's used to try to get people to admit their crushes, stuff like that.”
Finn pondered this for awhile. “So, if you liked someone, you could ask them if they liked you back.”
“Well, yeah, you could, but usually you’d have one of your friends ask them, so if they didn’t like you, you could act like you didn’t really care,” Poe explained. “Like I said, it’s a dumb kid’s game.”
Finn nodded. “What kind of dares?” He’d never experienced the rituals of adolescence that Poe had been lucky enough to participate in, and he’d found that Poe didn’t mind explaining things to him.
Poe leaned back, his ankles crossed. “Stuff like, Run across the backyard naked, or Eat a bug, or Climb up on the roof and crow like a rooster. Just dumb stuff.” He shook his head. “Occasionally someone would come up with something really crazy, like Steal a landspeeder, but only if we were really, really drunk.”
“But … that’s illegal,” Finn said. “Did you and your friends really do stuff like that? What if you got caught?”
Poe laughed. “No, we didn’t … well, a couple of us did, but … we were just dumb kids. Everybody knew we were just blowing off steam.”
Finn was puzzled. “So you didn’t get in trouble?”
“Oh, we got in trouble,” Poe said. “But not seriously. I mean, no one got arrested or anything … I did get grounded a lot.” He smiled.
“Grounded? They wouldn’t let you fly?” That was probably the worst punishment in the galaxy for someone like Poe. Finn couldn’t imagine the man not being able to fly.
“No, buddy, not literally grounded. It means you can’t leave the house except to go to school. Can’t see your friends, no comms from them … lots of parents used grounding as a punishment. Sort of like solitary confinement.”
“We had solitary in the First Order,” Finn said grimly. He still dreamed about it sometimes, that dark little box the trainees got shoved into when they did something unacceptable. The longest he’d ever had to endure was 24 hours, but a couple of his training mates had suffered multiple day internments and they’d never been quite the same afterward.
Poe leaned forward, his face suddenly serious. “Sorry,” he said softly. “I was just trying to lighten the mood, not bring up something …”
Finn waved his hand. “Nah, you’re good.” He forced a smile onto his face, which wasn’t all that hard once he looked at Poe. “So, what other stupid things did you and your friends get up to?
Poe sat back and regaled him with stories of his youth that Finn suspected were at least slightly exaggerated. If Poe had really done half of what he claimed he and his friends had, it was a miracle he’d survived to adulthood.
Eventually they ate some dinner and took turns washing up in the cramped ‘fresher. The chronometer indicated bedtime, if they were following the time schedule they’d been on back at base, so they decided to turn in.
The bed was larger than a single but not quite big enough to be a double. Finn knew they’d both fit but it would be a tight fit and involve some snuggling. They stood awkwardly in front of the bunk, neither ready to make the first move.
“Big spoon or little spoon,” Poe asked after a long moment.
“What? I don’t see any spoons?”
Poe chuckled and cupped one hand against the other. “Do you want to be the big spoon,” he held up the outside hand, “or the little spoon?” He nestled the inside hand against the other. “Like spoons in a drawer.”
“Oh. Umm, I’m taller so maybe I should be the big spoon?” Finn ventured.
Poe seemed happy to accept that idea and gestured for Finn to get into bed first. He slid back against the wall, leaving as much room for Poe as possible. Once Poe was settled down, there was barely four inches of space between them. Finn didn’t know where to put his hands, and kept them awkwardly pinned to his sides.
“I won’t burst into flames if you touch me,” Poe said. “Relax, Finn.” He shifted back toward Finn just a bit and Finn tentatively draped his arm over Poe’s torso, careful not to touch his hip, even though it was very tempting. “Good night, buddy,” Poe muttered into his pillow.
“Good night,” Finn replied. Only thirteen more nights to go.
****************************
Poe thanked the stars that Finn had suggested he be the big spoon, because Poe was afraid if he was the one snuggled up against Finn’s muscular back, it wouldn’t be long before Finn was aware of just how much Poe admired those muscles and every other part of the former Stormtrooper’s physique. This wasn’t the first time Poe had been sent on a mission with someone he was physically attracted to, but it was the first time where the other person was a close friend, and he didn’t want to screw anything up.
Finn was a fierce fighter, loyal and brave, and quick to learn but in many ways he was incredibly naive. Poe wasn’t sure how much experience the younger man had with simple friendship, let alone romance, and he didn’t want to confuse him or make him feel like he should do something he wasn’t ready for.
To be honest, Poe wasn’t even sure what he was ready for at this point. He knew Finn was important to him; that was abundantly clear when he realized the other man was still alive after the crash on Jakku. But the way Finn talked about his friend Rey, Poe got the impression there was something going on there. It wouldn’t be the first time he’d taken a fancy to someone who wasn’t interested in someone with his, ahem, equipment. He’d learned that lesson the hard way back at the Naval Academy. So for now, he’d just admire from afar and keep his eyes open for any clues that Finn might possibly feel the same way in return. As if I would ever be that lucky, he thought as he drifted off to sleep with Finn’s arm laying lightly across his side.
************************
Finn woke up with his face buried in Poe’s hair and one leg slung over Poe’s hip. The arm he’d carefully draped over Poe’s side was pressed tightly to Poe’s chest, and he could feel the other man’s breath warm against his fingers. It felt weird, but also very right, which made no sense to Finn. He debated whether it was better to extricate himself slowly, trying not to wake Poe up, or whether he should just jump up and hope Poe didn’t realize how intimately they’d been entangled.
In the end, he left it too long and Poe stirred. “Good morning, buddy,” he mumbled, lifting Finn’s arm away from his chest and squirming out from under his leg as if this was a common occurrence. “Dibs on the ‘fresher.” He stood up, stretched, and left the room, leaving Finn lying bewildered. Of course Poe’s woken up in bed with someone before, Finn realized. This isn’t as weird for him as it is for me. Every day brought some new experience that only reiterated to Finn just how unusual his own life had been. So many things people took for granted were new discoveries to him.
By the time Poe returned from the ‘fresher, Finn was sitting up and feeling just about normal. He took his turn in the ‘fresher as Poe got dressed (since they didn’t have a change of clothes, they had hung their shirts and pants over the backs of the cockpit seats to air them out a little bit and slept in their underwear), and by the time he’d gotten dressed himself, Poe had prepared a pot of kaf and laid out some rolls and a pot of jam.
“Thanks,” Finn said, as Poe poured him a cup, adding just enough sugar to counteract the bitterness that Finn was still getting used to. Poe drank his own kaf with no sweetener, but Finn couldn’t do it yet.
They ate breakfast, cleaned up, and then Poe decided to tinker with the ship's controls. He disappeared into the cockpit, his head underneath the dashboard and his feet sticking out past the pilot’s seat. Finn heard a litany of clanks and clunks and screeches punctuated by the occasional swear word.
“Need any help there, buddy?,” he asked.
“Nah, I’m good,” Poe said, his voice muffled from inside the paneling. “Not enough room for more than one person under here, anyway.”
So Finn pulled out a data pad and skimmed the HoloNet for something interesting to watch. Rose had introduced him to the pleasures of cheesy holovids and while most of them were execrable, some were so horribly bad that they were actually hilarious. He found one and spent the rest of the day trying to explain the ridiculous plot to Poe.
They stopped for a late lunch, and then Poe disappeared back under the dash again. Finn got tired of the holovid and downloaded a book to read. It was a historical novel about the Old Republic and kind of dry, but better than the technical manuals he’d been reading recently to get himself up to speed with all of the Resistance technology.
When Poe finally crawled out from under the dashboard, he was smeared with grease and had some dust balls caught in his hair, but he looked happy. “You’re filthy,” Finn said.
“So I’ve been told,” Poe said with a salacious grin.
Finn shook his head. “Just go wash up while I fix us some dinner,” he said. He pulled out a freeze-dried casserole and tossed it in the reconstituter, added a loaf of actual bread to their makeshift table and cracked open two of the beers. When Poe reappeared, his hair damp and falling in ringlets around his face, the casserole was ready and Finn handed him a plate with a generous portion.
They ate in companionable silence, then leaned back in their chairs.
“So,” Finn said, emboldened by the beer. “What other dumb games did you and your friends play?”
Poe laughed. “Ah, the education of Finn in the ways of adolescent stupidity continues,” he said. He swallowed the last of his beer and laid the bottle on the table, giving it a flick so that it spun around. “Spin the Bottle was the dumbest one. I hated that game.”
“What’s Spin the Bottle?”
“You sit in a circle, put a bottle in the middle and someone spins it. Whoever it ends up pointing at, they have to kiss them.” Poe shrugged. “I always found some excuse to leave when it came up. The girls were the ones who liked it.”
“So you just kissed a random person because of a bottle?” Finn said. “That is stupid. What else?”
Poe rubbed his chin. “Let me think … oh, there was Never Have I Ever, that one could be fun.”
Finn finished off his own beer and laid the bottle on the table next to Poe’s. He gave it a lazy flick and it spun slowly until it ended up pointing at Poe. Finn felt a blush rise in his cheeks and was glad his dark complexion hid it. “How … how do you play that one?”
Poe sat forward. “Okay, so you say something you’ve never done before and then anyone who has done that raises their hand, and they get a point. Then the next person says something, and so on, and so on. Whoever has the most points at the end is the winner. And you can’t lie.”
“For example?” Finn asked.
“Um, never have I ever … ridden a tauntaun,” Poe said.
“Neither have I,” Finn admitted.
“Okay, so no points on that one. Your turn.”
“Um, okay … never have I ever stolen a landspeeder.” Poe sheepishly raised his hand. Finn laughed, “I knew it!”
“All right, all right,” Poe said. “But that means I’m winning.” He reached into the closest cupboard and pulled out a bottle of the alien liquor and two small cups. He poured them each a shot. “And how we invoke rule number 78: any time one of us raises his hand, we have to take a shot.” He slid one cup toward Finn and raised the other to his lips, tossing it back. Finn picked up his own cup and sniffed dubiously. Poe raised his eyebrows in challenge and Finn gulped the shot, nearly choking himself in the process.
“What the kriff…,” he spluttered. “That stuff is nasty!”
“Yeah, but it makes you feel so good,” Poe said, pouring out two more shots. “My turn. Never have I ever worn a Stormtrooper helmet.”
Finn laughed. “Got me,” he said, raising his hand. “I think I get the point of this game. You try to think of something you haven’t done that the other person has.” He stopped, the liquor already starting to muddle his brain. “No, wait, but if the person has done it, they get a point, so you should actually try to say something you think they haven’t done, right?”
Poe drank his shot and shook his head. “No, you’re missing the point entirely,” he said. “The point is … to get stinking drunk.”
Finn lifted his own cup and downed the shot as quickly as he could. “So the points don’t matter,” he said.
“Exactly,” Poe said, refilling their cups. “Your turn.”
“Um … never have I ever flown an X-wing.”
They went on in this manner for several turns, until Finn was pleasantly warm and his eyes were having a hard time staying focused. “Your … your turn,” he told Poe.
Poe was sprawled in his chair, one leg slung casually over the arm. He raised his cup and waved it unsteadily in the air. “Never have I ever … kissed a girl,” he said.
Finn froze. “Wait, what?”
“Never have I ever kissed a girl,” Poe repeated. “Go on, raise your hand so I can take a drink.”
Finn was confused. “Okay, yeah, but … are you seriously telling me that you, Poe Dameron, the poster boy of the Resistance, has never kissed a girl?”
“Yep,” Poe said. “And I know you have, because I saw Rose kiss you on Crait, so one point to you, my friend.” He tossed back his drink.
“Well,” Finn said slowly, “technically I haven’t kissed a girl, because yeah, Rose kissed me, but she was the one who started it, I mean she kissed me, not the other way around …” He was babbling but he couldn’t shut up.
Poe sat up. “What about Rey?”
“What about Rey?” Finn was even more confused now. “I’ve never kissed Rey. And she’s never kissed me. And why haven’t you ever kissed a girl, I mean, come on … oh!” His brain finally clicked into gear. “Really?”
Poe nodded. “Really,” he said, setting down his cup. Finn got the feeling the game was over.
Finn nodded himself. “Okay, this makes sense. I mean, a lot of things make so much sense now …”
“Like what?” Poe asked guardedly.
“Like some things your friends have said,” Finn said. “Or the looks I get when I’m wearing your jacket … do people think we’re … you know?”
Poe shrugged. “Probably. Maybe. Does it matter?”
“No,” Finn answered truthfully. In fact, the idea of other people thinking he and Poe Dameron were … it made him feel all warm and tingly inside.
“So,” Poe said. “That kiss with Rose. Was that your first one?”
“Yeah,” Finn admitted. “She kind of surprised me. It wasn’t exactly what I thought it was going to be, to be honest.”
“Because it wasn’t Rey?”
“No,” Finn said. “Rey and I are just friends. It just … I mean, I know kissing is supposed to be nice but it was just kind of … awkward.”
Poe scooted his chair closer and Finn was suddenly very aware of his lips as he opened them to speak. “Is this awkward?”
“Um, no, not really,” Finn said, moving his own chair closer without taking his eyes off of Poe’s face.
“Good,” said Poe. He leaned forward and took Finn’s face gently in his hands before pressing their lips together. For just a moment, Finn was frozen in place, and then he was returning the kiss and it was nothing like what he’d experienced with Rose.
Poe pulled back and looked Finn in the eyes. “Definitely not awkward,” Finn breathed. Poe grinned and leaned back in for another kiss, this one a bit more heated.
“Um, I think it’s my turn,” Finn said when Poe finally leaned back again.
“We’re still playing?”
“Yeah,” Finn said, reaching out to run his fingers through Poe’s still damp hair. “Never have I ever … had sex.”
The smile that crept across Poe’s face as he raised his hand made Finn melt inside. “I think it’s time we adjourn to the bedroom,” Poe said, his voice a little shaky.
“Agreed,” said Finn. As they stood up, he added, “I kind of like this game.”

This time Poe woke up first. His head was a bit muzzy from the alcohol, but he wasn’t technically hung over. Finn, on the other hand, might be a bit worse for wear this morning, and not just because of the booze. As Poe’s mind cleared he remembered exactly what they’d gotten up to last night, and he hoped there would be no regrets. Finn was new to drinking and that stuff was pretty powerful.
Oh, kriff, I hope he doesn’t think I took advantage of him. He sat up suddenly, which woke up Finn. “Hey,” Finn said lazily, reaching up to pull Poe back down next to him. “Where’re you going?” His eyes were bleary but Poe saw no anger in them, just a softness that made him relax into Finn’s arms.
“Nowhere,” he said. “I just … kind of startled myself awake, I guess.”
Finn yawned and started playing with Poe’s hair. “Uh, Finn,” Poe said, “are we okay? I mean, last night …”
Finn stopped him with a kiss. “Last night was very … gosh, Poe I don’t even have the words for what last night was.” He laughed. “I … never knew what all the fuss was about … you know.”
Poe laughed back. “Yeah, I know.” He snuggled closer. “Oh, buddy, you don’t know how long I’ve been wanting to do this.”
“Since Tadokana?”
“How’d you know?”
“The jacket. And the way you hugged me,” Finn said. “It was … different than hugging Rey. Better.”
“Definitely better,” Poe said, wrapping his arms tightly around Finn’s waist and pulling him close. They skipped breakfast that morning.

The rest of the quarantine went by quickly. Poe finished the repairs and even a few small upgrades to the ship, and Finn read two novels, but they spend most of the time learning about each other. And by the time the droid woke up and announced they could leave the ship to complete their mission, they walked hand and hand down the ramp.
Three hours later, they had collected Leia’s precious cargo, stashed it in the back and were ready to blast off. “Think anyone will be surprised?,” Finn asked as Poe maneuvered the ship into space and set a course for the jump off point.
“Honestly, no,” he answered. “Like you said, the whole jacket thing …” He winked and Finn chuckled deeply. Stars, I love that laugh, Poe thought.
They sat quietly, holding hands, while the ship flashed through hyperspace. Poe had to use both hands to pilot the ship back to base once they dropped back into normal space, but once they had landed, his hand slipped back into Finn’s.
Of course, Leia was there to greet them as they left the ship and he saw her eyes dart immediately to their hands. One eyebrow arched elegantly and Poe simply shrugged at her. “What’d you expect to happen?,” he said quietly.
“Exactly that,” she replied. “I was getting tired of waiting for you two to figure things out. Besides, I had this week in the pool and I hate to lose a bet.” She turned away to supervise the unloading of the cargo.
“And that’s why she’s the General,” Rey said, appearing at Finn’s side with a smirk on her face.
“Were you in on this bet, too?” Poe asked.
“Of course,” she said. “Practically the whole base was.” She laughed. “Don’t look so surprised. Just because you two are oblivious doesn’t mean the rest of us are.”
She kissed them both on the cheek. “I’m happy for you,” she said. “Just don’t start making out in public. That’s gross.” She rolled her eyes and walked away.
“I don’t know about you, but I take that as a challenge,” Poe said.
“Challenge accepted,” Finn said, putting his arm around Poe. “Let’s go practice.”
