New ink pen brushes in the FA store
Thin ink pooling pen
Cotton swab ink pooling pen
My tests with them: the think ink pooling pen has its own custom texture with it as well, "Bokoboko2"

Rake Brushes for firealpaca !
i made these recently as a way to get more texturing into my art, you can see the PNGs in the middle of this post , you can use my firealpaca/medibang settings for em by adding em on the brush menu -> add bitmap brush (file) . But you can probably also add em to CSP or procreate and fiddle around with the settings, watercolor settings recommended ! have fun :)

do you mind sharing your knockoff firealpaca heavypaint brushes lol... id love to use them myself
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure. There is only one but here are the settings & the brush, it’s a bitmap pen. Just mess around with color/hue jitter for desired effect.
I don’t know if tumblr save works like that though so here is a Google drive link to download the original png just in case.

Hey there! I love your stuff! I showed my friend your work and they are also an artist. They were curious what program you use and what pens?
Hi, thank you! I use good ol' firealpaca :) -my main brush for sketching is the default marker; it's a rectangular angled brush? V standard, p good pen pressure variation. -to render I use a soft roundbrush... I honestly don't know if it's a default brush or if I got it from somewhere?? But it's a bitmap watercolour brush at 80 colour mixing level and 30 complement level. I don't really know what that means cause I kinda just play around with settings until things look right, but basically any colour-mixing brush with a flat edge and faded ends.

Adding custom textures for brushes in FireAlpaca without using a bitmap brush. (tested with SE) tutorial
Tumblr media
So I discovered that adding your own textures is possible. Haven't seen a lot of people talk about this before, so I'll add a quick tutorial. Go to your FireAlpaca edition's AppData folder (I use Windows, sorry! I don't know other OS) and there should be a "brush_texture" folder. In there, you will find 5 files that are the textures included with FireAlpaca.
Tumblr media
They are simply normal MDP files that you can open with the program itself. Open one in FireAlpaca and then you can see what's inside. (make sure to backup them first just in case)
Tumblr media
From here, you can see that the bottom layer is a 8bit image. The layer's names are their translations for each language. You can replace the bottom layer with another 8bit image (color images don't work) and title it starting with the letters "ja:" and whatever (it doesn't seem to need to be actual Japanese). The "en:" layer is the English translation, so replace it's title with the appropriate name for your custom texture starting with "en:" (I think you have to keep it as an empty 1bit layer, so only change the name). Save it as a new MDP file with the name starting with "preset_" in that same folder you found the original mdp file, and your new texture should immediately be visible in the brush texture settings.
Tumblr media
This is how it worked for me. The developers should really add an easy GUI for it. I think this will allow for more varied grain textures. Hope it works for you.

been working on these firealpaca brushes the past few days!
1-5 as you can tell are different drawn styles of a braid, 6-8 are supposed to be black hair textures but I’m still fumbling around on them, 9 is a bead chain for jewellery, and 10 is a chainlink fence!
They’re still work in progresses but feel free to let me know which brushes you like best!

hi how do you color the rose brush from firealpaca? I looked forever and i couldnt find or figure out how. I when i click apply background color it just turns transparent. I just want pretty roses :< Thank you v much for your help!
Hi, apologies for the week-long lateness! I was sick but was also trying to figure out which rose brush you meant.
Regardless of what brush you use, if it is a bitmap brush (uses a png or JPG image or a .MDP firelpaca file as a base), there should be this option for changing the color here in the brush settings:
"Apply Foreground color"
Tumblr media
When you switch this on and OK the brush settings, then you should be able. Results vary based on the contents of the brush (whether it only uses lineart, has shading, how fark/saturated the original colors are etc). I used the carnation brush from brush store as an example, but you should be able to get similar results with your rose brush.
Tumblr media
You can see that the "Apply FG color" version on the left in blue, has made the entire brush slightly more transparent, losing some of the detail of the original. If your rose brush is similarly more detailed, and you would like to keep this detail, what you can do, is open the brush from the brush folder (Help>open confiq folder and go to folder named "brush_bitmap") so you change the image colors via Filter>Hue, save as a new file and then make that a brush. But if you do not havethis sort of detail (as pictured above) or simply do not need it, you can try the first option of going into brush settings and finding "Apply FG color"
Hope yhis is helpful!
edit(16.05); this reply under the post is helpful too! you can always paint those roses and then use the filter menu options to change the hue.

You can get my Firealpaca ink brushes on Gumroad now!
I've posted most of them here and on dA before for free, but I thought it would be nice to put them up there as well!
Gumroad supports NFTs so I will try to post them up on itchio instead. You can follow my work here: https://4nnih6.itch.io/

Been doing quick brush tests with some of the newer brushes from Firealpaca - you can preview them on their website at "Materials" and you can download them fro free from the program directly from the Brush window - click "New Brush" button > Show Brush Store.
Some of these FX and traditional tool brushes are really surprising! I find it kind of fun to just loose myself in trying these out while my brains on rest from having ideas. Just trying out different colors and layer modes is somehow relaxing.
