The like one thing I have found to be effective so far in this playthrough of da2 is hawke's negative relationship with carver - I maxed it out as soon as I could the first time I played through because my understanding of the game was you just wanted to push all your companions in a relationship direction and it didn't matter which one. My memory of it is doing it was basically beneath notice, like, whatever, but actively cultivating a shitty relationship with your younger sibling that resents you requires basically shouting him down for being upset that your family loves you more than they do him and the fact that they treat him like shit for his inalienable circumstances that mean that he will never be able to live up to either of his siblings to them repeatedly & throwing everything he says back in his face, which feels quite bad to do. I really did not remember the extent to which you have to go out of your way to escalate conversations with him and pick fights to cement that +100 rivalry

#he does the same thing to you but not to the same extent... At least not in act 1.#i was playing red hawke my first run though so maybe I just didn't notice because I was doing that with most people #The reaction I had to this was based on my preexisting assumptions from having played before & also the fact that I already like carver #though? which makes acting like a shithead to him make me feel bad. I have no idea how well this works for people who are playing for the #first time...#personal #dragon age talk
