Friends, can I share one of my favourite bits of 5e homebrew?
This system (specifically the concept of a depletion die) has been a FANTASTIC addition to my campaigns, as it really breaks players out of that habit of hording consumable items and never using them for fear of needing them more at some point in the nebulous future.
You know what else this system is great for? ADVENTURING SUPPLIES. Now rather than expecting my party to go shopping and fiddle with small change and encumbrance, I just say they have a group "supply die" that's split across all their packs and baggage. How large is that supply die? Tally the group's collective strength bonus and compare it to the "average remaining uses" section of the chart. How much does it cost to resupply? There's a handy-dandy "cost" chart that you can just multiply by 10.
Rather than tracking rations, we just roll the supply die once at the end of each long rest. Whenever my party needs a random doodad that they that they could've picked up in town, they can roll the supply die and take it out of their bag, after that it's added to their permanent inventory until they lose it. Beasts of burden and carts act as a separate strength tally, with a beast able to carry 2x it's base strength bonus by default, and a cart multiplying that number by 5.
I've been looking for a system this elegant FOR YEARS and and finally I have it. Enjoy friends, let me know if you end up using it in your own campaigns.

The inscription translates as: ‘Vain curiosity is annoying’. In an inscription on the base, Van Heemskerk apologizes for the fact that his hand is no longer so steady; he is old.

A SCIENTIFIC BIRTHDAY
This was such a fun project to design and bring to cookie life! My friend’s son turned three years old and he loves all things science, so I went to work… Let’s just not talk too much about the fact that I thought he was turning 4, and well…. I messed up one of the designs for that reason. What can I say apart from “I am so sorry!”  For the cookie cutters, I browsed through this favorite etsy…

Ancient Flasks: Chinese Bianhu Flasks
Tumblr media
Chinese bianhu flasks (Chinese: 扁壺), also known as "flat vases" or "shoulder flasks," are a type of ceramic vessel that originated in ancient China. They were primarily produced during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and were commonly used for storing and pouring liquids such as wine or oil.
Bianhu flasks are characterized by their flattened oval shape, resembling a pear or a gourd. They have a wide, flat body with sloping shoulders and a narrow neck. The mouth of the flask is typically small and may be fitted with a stopper or a lid. These flasks were often decorated with intricate patterns, motifs, and inscriptions, showcasing the artistic skills of the craftsmen.
One notable feature of bianhu flasks is the presence of lotus-shaped supports on their bases. These supports resemble the petals of a lotus flower and provide stability to the flask when it is placed on a flat surface. The lotus motif is significant in Chinese culture, symbolizing purity, enlightenment, and rebirth.
Bianhu flasks were not only functional vessels but also held cultural and symbolic importance. They were often used as prestigious items for ceremonial purposes and were sometimes buried in tombs as funerary objects.
Today, surviving examples of bianhu flasks provide valuable insights into the art, craftsmanship, and cultural practices of ancient China. They are highly regarded as artistic and historical treasures, representing the creativity and skill of Chinese ceramic artisans during the Tang Dynasty.

Estus Flask (Dark Souls) Recipe - Gamer Cooking Reciplore
youtube
So you’re carrying around this flask of glowing liquid to swig whenever you get a Dragonslayer Arrow through your noggin. Therefore, to recreate Estus, I began thinking of protein shakes.
Other people tend to go in the alcoholic direction, possibly as a homage to the whole ‘fire’ sensation. But I think of real-life Estus as a ‘medicine’ rather than a drought of liquid courage.
If curing the Darksign was antibiotics, Estus would be Muscle Milk’s Non-Dairy Everyday Protein formula. You can imagine a magical version of a protein shake to instantly heal your sore muscles after a workout, complete with a firey kindling animation.
