Some information on the "Assemblies".
You've probably seen me mention FASM. Or not. Regardless, it's an important name.
FASM stands for flat assembler (intentionally with lowercase letters. idk why).
Likewise, other Assemblers exist. Popular onces also include NASM, YASM, and MASM. Feel free to look these up on your own time.
We stick with FASM because its output is generally faster and takes up less space than the other Assemblers.
Now, to explain the Assemblers. Each Assembler uses its own syntax to compile inputted code into the result—usually an executable. Assembly code written for FASM generally does not work with the other Assemblers, and likewise the rest are generally not interchangeable.
Thus, in a sense, it may feel like there are multiple Assemblies. Now, to say this would not be inaccurate, but it's also not correct in the way you would think.
Like I said, the differences between the Assemblers listed above are in syntax. But ultimately, all of them follow the same Assembly language.
This is sometimes called x86 Assembly when referring to 32-bit compatable code, but for our purposes, we call it x86-64 Assembly because we want to utilize the 64-bit registers that are present in nearly every modern personal computer.
x86-64 Assembly is only one of many Assembly languages. For the common developer following along however, it is not necessary to cover any other form.
In addition to the type of Assembly language and the Assembler's syntax, another thing to take into consideration is the operating system calling conventions.
There are only two conventions I consider important in the context of FASM: System V ABI, and Windows x64 ABI.
System V ABI is the convention I will almost always refer to on this blog. It covers both Linux and macOS (with minimal nuanced differences between the two).
As the name implies, Windows x64 ABI is for Windows. However, Windows is more confusing because, unlike System V ABI which remains constant on all versions of Linux, Windows x64 ABI will change between major Windows versions, such as Windows 10 to Windows 11.
Sorry, that's an information overload, but if nothing else, remember this: FASM uses x86-64 Assembly, and this blog will cover Linux (System V ABI) convention for FASM.

I'm thinking about the absurdity of everything that happened to the Mighty Nein when they finally make it to Rosohna.
Like, imagine being the Essek for that.
Here's a group of adventurers. They have a surprising number of humans in their midst. That's a little suspicious considering the war with the Empire. After a few questions, they appear to be the world's most obvious and transparent spies. Like... Come on, they don't even really seem to know the region.
Well, whatever, guess they're gonna be treated appropriately-
Oh, that's a beacon. In a moment of stress, they proceed to pull out the most valuable relic of your people, which was stolen, or lost, and just... hand it back over to you.
You (as Essek), know about 95% of how they got their hands on it, because you've been keeping tabs on it because you're the one who handed it over in the first place. And here it is. In the throne room. They have no idea what it is, but they know the Bright Queen wants it, and they seem to earnestly want to make friends, and really would just like one of their members to get her husband back.
And the whole thing gets even stupider because you (that is to say Essek), decide that your best chance of keeping everything secure is to be the one who keeps an eye on them, and these dumbasses categorically refuse to stop trying to befriend you. You are specifically, actively trying to stop them from getting you caught and executed for treason, and they're like 'hey, you want to come over for dinner or something? We have a hot tub.'
#Critical Role#mighty nein#Essek#Apparently the original intent was for Essek to be an antagonist#Which is completely borne out by his design and demeanor in retrospect#Which probably means there was a moment where Matt went 'Fuck... He *would* like to come over for dinner'#At which point it was over for him because the Mighty Nein as a group are very charming#I also can't help thinking they managed to speedrun the end of the war faster than Matt had expected to be possible#Because they managed to be Friends of the Dynasty in 30 minutes flat with that beacon stunt#And their first interaction with Rexxentrum was stopping a doomsday cult#While also making it extremely obvious that they somehow had a non-zero amount of sway with the Dynasty#And with the Cerberus Assembly getting a spare beacon (so they can give back the first one)#It's like 'yeah the war is no longer unstoppable at the exact moment you're here to stop it'#Still not over Jester sending to the guy like 'They're willing to talk. Maintain the ceasefire. MAINTAIN. THE. CEASEFIRE.#Like the opposite of one of those Greek miscommunication tragedies

The Mirror Crack'd (1980)
"Lola, dear, you know, there are really only two things I dislike about you."
"Really? What are they?"
"Your face."
#the mirror crack'd#agatha christie#agatha christie's the mirror crack'd#1980#guy hamilton#jonathan hales#barry sandler#angela lansbury#rock hudson#elizabeth taylor#geraldine chaplin#tony curtis#kim novak#edward fox#wendy morgan#charles gray#maureen bennett#richard pearson#eric dodson#margaret courtenay#opens with a fake film within the film‚ a supposed creaky old bw Brit mystery thriller with an old dark house and a thunderous storm#outside and character actors par excellence assembled; it probably says a lot that this slightly wry pastiche is the most fun i had with#this film and I'd genuinely rather watch a full length version of that potboiler than this. the rest of the film is *fine* but almost#aggressively so‚ and a Christie adaptation with a cast this starry should be more than fine. stays true to the book in keeping Marple on#the periphery of the plot (faithful maybe‚ but questionable movie making practice) and gets a little muddled in the later stages#but Hudson is giving a great late stage performance and the witty‚ bitchy dialogue between Taylor and Novak frequently dazzles#Novak in particular is so clearly having an enormous amount of fun playing up the vain‚ backstabbing actor role that it almost overcomes#the flat direction and rather stodgy overall shape of the film. and i have to add i think it was pretty brave of Taylor to take a part#(boozy difficult superstar past her prime and slipping into insignificance) that could easily have been branded autobiographical#by the crueller among the press. this is a bit of a mess all told‚ and certainly underwhelming‚ but there's small joys to be found

Of course Jackson was bioluminescent as a kid
And why did you give Lightning cat ears in that age chart?
! hes canonically bioluminescent (to a degree... from an art standpoint) may as well go full out. i agree its pretty funny.
as for the "cat ears"-
-i literally just drew his roof rails wrong. (intentionally)
drew them in like that the first time, but then i realized they looked like lil cartoon devil horns:

and i thought it was hilarious so i just kept it XD
#anon#ask#reply#i cant draw the roof rails as they appear on the character model#because i do not draw on-model#nor do i intend to ever#so theyre always exaggerated so his roof doesnt look stupid and flat#but this time. hes a lil devil#i draw him mainly from memory so hes just a bunch of shapes i must assemble. demon parts included

being a slow crocheter is like. okay. one cardigan will take me at least sixty hours of work, and I might have to learn how to do flat granny stitching for the sleeves to avoid making more granny squares, but I'll have something cute to wear when all is said and done??
and then that eventually spirals into "Okay but I need to learn how to make tank tops so that I can make one to match the cardigan, and then I also hope I have enough left of my purple yarn so that I can make the waistband for a pair of shorts bc I want to have a whole set for when it gets warm!!" even though it's already warm and I might just be devoting literal hours of work into all of this for the next ten days so that I can have this entire thing done by June 1st
#mikey talks#crochet#I have 6 squares of like. 20-30 necessary completed and I've been working on the project for a good three days now#I'm gonna hopefully get enough to assemble the back done tomorrow and then thursday will get the front done#friday and saturday will be flat granny stitch/sleeve day#then sunday will be figuring out how to make the top and making it or at least starting#monday will be finishing the top if it's not done and if it is I'll start the shorts#and then keep working on them until they're done or I frog it out of frustration#I don't really wear the color combo I'm using (yellow and purple + also maybe a bit of white or brown or maybe even lavender?? idk)#but I'm super excited bc these shorts are gonna fit me super good and I'm gonna make sure I actually feel confident in the top!!#the cardigan is gonna be the most rewarding part methinks?? maybe

Hello, Bering and Wells gifter here! I'm an artist, anything you'd like to see illustrated this year?
Hi, gifter... I hope all is well with you in this strange season. As for what I'd like to see, my most basic "please, if you could" is of course Bering and Wells showing off their uniquely sparky connection. But speaking of basic, you might think about focusing on an everyday situation, which they might... say... mess up in some way? Alternatively, something completely off the wall could be a lot of fun; I think I mentioned unicycle-riding last year, but there's a vast array of absurdities in which they could be, you know, compelled to engage, artifactually or otherwise.
In the end, though, any depiction of them together is something I'll cherish. Because the actual-show scenes we had were so few... it never ceases to amaze and delight me that so spectacular a fandom as this one was built on so few interactions. My thanks to you for being a part of it!
#bering and wells#b&w holiday gift exchange#warehouse 13#riding unicycles#changing a flat tire#working the dunk tank at a carnival#giving Pete the ferret an oatmeal bath#assembling something from IKEA#and a perennial favorite: juggling flaming torches#or chainsaws#or both

Love 90% of all of the above.
The 10% I don't love is...okay, its her fucking wedding. Why is Barbara in an uncomfortable transit chair that actually reduces her mobility? You can easily put the wedding decorations as a cover or something on a good portion if not all of actual wheelchairs actual disabled people use. In fact, a lot of those chairs have a lower back so more of Barbara's back would be seen. And like. Unlike a lot of disabled folks who are stuck with transit chairs because they can't afford an actual long term use wheelchair, BARBARA GORDON CAN ABSOLUTELY AFFORD A LONG TERM USE WHEELCHAIR. If not, Bruce would find a way to help out/build a specialized one for her.
So uh. In short. The artists drawing Babs NEED to look up the chairs that paralyzed people actually use (when they can afford them) because there are zero in universe reasons for Babs to be in a TRANSIT CHAIR of all things.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
#lix rambles#i am admittedly in pain and cranky#so i do genuinely love the wedding#but would it kill artists to look up proper references#the back is key because the high back of transit chairs makes them hard to maneuver#there's also difference in wheel placement as transit chairs are more vertical as its easier to assemble#but that becomes a problem when trying to wheel oneself#they're built to have someone push you not for you to wheel yourself#also they just. can't handle as much terrain wise#they can barely handle a flat hospital surface#an outdoor wedding? lol#sure with a LOT of muscle work and help when the wheels get stuck

Using existing fence
The customer wanted to take the fence section away in order to fit 2 storage bin enclosures. I suggested using the part of the fence to carry it through to the shed, keeping the uniformity and utilising the materials. Existing fence Finished There was already paving to assemble the 2 storage bin units. Looks good with the fence moved to the side, cut to size and fixed to existing fencing…

While the terms “efficiency,” “cost-effectiveness,” and “safety” may be the keywords for retaining one’s competitive edge in modern manufacturing, the most plausible means to attain these would be with advanced technology. One such example of an advanced technological aid in improving workflow, reducing labor costs, and enhancing safety in manufacture is the Roller Conveyor System. Below are some of the amazing benefits of the roller conveyors, including companies like Yontro Mechatronic Systech that can help you realize the full benefits of this technology.
