Essays I Could Write About The Librarians

A.K.A: What happens when a former AP Lit Student falls in love with a really really really well written show. (PS This was supposed to be a fun joke post initially what happened)

Ok so it’s no secret that I adore The Librarians with every fiber of my being. Anyone who has me on any social media platform in existence, or who knows me well in real life, knows that. Anyone who saw my Christmas list this year knows that. Hell, I think Dean Devlin knows it. It has become part of my daily life. I write fanfics, make music videos, compose playlists, film vlogs, draw the occasional fanart, and choreograph tap dances apparently. Yeah I love it a lot.

One of the reasons I love it so much is the brilliant writing. I mean, I loved it before I realized how good the writing was, but I digress. As you may have seen in a lot of my blog posts here, I love analyzing this show. I love to take singular lines that the characters have and just pick them to pieces! I love to write huge posts about the characters with each episode that adds to their development! Much as I loved picking Mr.Rochester and Blance Dubois to pieces in AP Lit last year.

I’ve accounted this to The Librarians literally being written like a book. There’s so much subtext, so many things that are hidden beneath the surface of every little choice, and every little thing matters, even when you think it’s not going to. These characters are so complex that you can go on for hours about the different aspects of their personalities, and why they say certain things that they do, and how what they say matches their personalities, and you can find little hints to support your conclusions throughout the seasons. Little lines that seemed like they were gonna be throwaways come up again a whole season later!(IE ”I knew you thought I was sick” to “I don’t think you’re fragile”). I could literally write essays in an AP Literature worthy style about this show. That’s not really true for other TV shows I know of.

And so, without further ado, to express my admiration for different aspects of the show, and to just joke around a bit and have a little fun, here is a list compiled of all the things I could literally write an essay about in The Librarians.

Eve and Flynn’s relationship AKA one of the most brilliantly written, deep and beautifully complex relationships I have ever encountered on television

The relationship as a whole and each of their individual behaviors and thoughts in the relationship see here

The progression of Jake and Cassandra’s relationship

The parallels between Eve and Flynn’s relationship and Jake and Cassandra’s relationship

Team Library and how they each found a new family with each other

The similarities between Cassie and Flynn OH MY GOD did that come to light in Eternal Question

The life lessons it teaches just by being what it is and how it can affect people and be a positive force in their lives. With a large focus on the positive affects of a character like Flynn existing. This isn’t even the writing but SOMEONE HIRE ME TO RESEARCH AND WRITE THIS

I could probably write an entire essay on the idea of a show about literature and intellect being written in the same style as literature and intellectual mediums
