Stranger Fans 4 Humankind
Meet Verena & Abdallah | Current Action: Supporting Operation Olive Branch & Abdallah's family in Gaza
[This fundraiser is vetted through Operation Olive Branch.]
Tumblr media
Stranger Fans 4 Humankind is boosting the fundraiser of Verena & Abdallah to help Abdallah's family escape Gaza to safety. The ask is small - $5 (€5) or simply your time! Together we can make a huge difference for one family.
Abdallah is a medical student in Munich, Germany, and also works at a local nursing home. He is pictured above with his fiancée Verena, who is assisting with the fundraiser for his family who are trapped in Gaza.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Abdallah's 71-year-old father has lymphoma and urgently needs medical treatment. His sister is caring for four minor children amidst the crisis in Gaza. The family lives in constant fear of bombings, living with no electricity and struggling to get food.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amid power outages and dwindling food supplies, my fiancée’s sister’s son battles fire and wood outside to prepare food. The food supplied by organizations is often expired and is no longer edible. The emergency in Gaza is more urgent than ever.
Read more about Abdallah's family, along with what you can do to support this effort through Stranger Fans 4 Humankind!

I was baking a cake (not something that I usually do), but all the ingredients I had were: parsley, butter, glue, color, and "frost frost" (an informal term for ice in my dream).

Action: Supporting Operation Olive Branch & Hedaya's family in Gaza
Tumblr media
Operation Olive Branch is a grassroots, volunteer-run project to boost Palestinian voices & coordinate mutual aid. They have a spreadsheet of fundraisers to provide mutual aid for families in Gaza. All fundraisers are vetted through OOB to check that the organizers are legitimate.
Hedaya Mohamed is raising funds to evacuate her six family members from Gaza. Multiple family members have disabilities and physical and mental health challenges due to continued violence by the Israeli government against people in Gaza. The spreadsheet also indicates there is someone pregnant, which is not mentioned specifically on the fundraiser page.
My uncle is an amputee struggling with heart failure and diabetes. My cousins are ages 16-21 years old, grappling with both mental and physical health challenges with limited access to food, water, and medicine. My cousin Khaled is a nurse at Nasser Medical Complex, suffering severe trauma. My cousin Malak is an incredible artist and designer- Gazans have dreams, they deserve to live in safety.
Here is what you can do to help!
Priority 1:
Donate $5 (€5) to Hedaya's fundraiser. (If just 1% of the #911 fox tag donated $5 they would reach their goal!) You can also find the fundraiser link on line 68 of the Perinatal Project tab on OOB's spreadsheet.
Reblog this post. This helps even if you cannot donate, because it will reach more people who can!
Offer 9-1-1 fanworks to celebrate reaching donation goals! If you create fanworks of any kind (fan edits, fan art, gifs, show analyses, etc.) and want to offer one as celebration for reaching specific goals, DM us. This will help us build up excitement for the Action and keep momentum going!
Priority 2:
Boost Hedaya's Instagram posts.
Boost Operation Olive Branch's social media posts. (All accounts are linked on this page)
Contact your representatives to call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. (Call, email, or fax)

Today, I've been torturing my friends with the worst bread I've ever tried. It's completely flavorless but in a very intense and disgusting way. As soon as I touch it I'm wishing that it had any other flavor, anything. It got two 'this is the worst bread I have ever tasted and I never want to eat it again' reviews, and the most positive one said that it's good enough if you want something really cheap. Except that it wasn't even cheap
0/10 just stab me next time, it would be less painful

Verena and Abdallah are raising funds to evacuate Abdallah's father, sister, and her four children from Gaza amidst the ongoing violence from the Israeli government.
Abdallah's father, aged 71, is battling lymphoma and urgently requires medical care that is unavailable due to the ongoing conflict ... His condition is deteriorating rapidly, and any delay in treatment could cost him his life.  Additionally, Abdallah's sister suffers under the oppressive conditions in Gaza. She faces the daunting task of protecting and providing for her four minor children amidst the conflict. Your donations can help us procure food and medicine to ensure the survival of my fiancé's family, his sister, and her four children in Gaza. If enough funds can be raised and evacuation is possible, we could offer them a chance at safety and a better future.
Here is what you can do to help!
Priority 1:
Donate $5 (€5) to Verena & Abdallah's fundraiser. (If just 0.1% of the #stranger things tag donated $5 they would reach their goal!) You can also find the fundraiser link on line 198 of the Medical/Disabled tab on OOB's spreadsheet.

man ok so you know the spiciness scale on menus that show you how spicy a dish is so you can order based on your tolerance. can we have that for sauces too please
#im being serious btw. the sauce to rice ratio is very important and sacred to me#whenever i eat at home i get to choose how much sauce i can have with my rice because i dont like absolutely dousing it but i still wanna b#able to taste it yanno. i dont do well with slippery/saucy foods and ive given up trying to understand it. it might be a sensory thing#i am so sorry to admit this on the soup website but i cant handle thick/chunky sauces or curry. forgive me#the worst part is that i actually can handle and even enjoy some like caldereta and congee. but its so hard to tell people ill eat this but#not that.. its embarassing because it feels like im making exceptions. which i am!! because its preference!! but alas#but anyway with the sauce scale. i was thinking it would be nice to include a scale for how much sauce you want with a dish#rather than just skirting away from a food because you feel like you cant handle the texture or feel unsure about it#sauce could be adjustable without completely changing the recipe so it would be more like a matter of quantity or serving size#also i feel like i can make cool names for the scale. like “light drizzle” to “sauceageddon”#im asian so when i eat sauce i pair it with rice and it works because the rice kind of cancels out or makes the sauce more tolerable for me#with caldereta i make it an even 50/50 because i can taste it in the rice without the texture getting in the way#but with pasta and sauce its normally 1/3 sauce because the pasta normally isnt enough to cancel it out#i also grew up with relatives making fun of my eating habits and i really really hate eating at restaurants and gatherings because of it#maybe its because they want to make sure im eating right but!! you dont have to call me out for my 1/3 portion of spaghetti sauce!! damn!!!#anyway im not sure if anyone feels the same abt this and maybe its just me. but it would be really nice to have this a normal thing#without judging ppl for their eating habits and preferences. on god#yapping#food ment#EDIT: ASKING FOR SAUCE ON THE SIDE. MY EYES HAVE BEEN OPENED. I DIDNT KNOW THAT WAS A THING
