I am leaving you this video by these guys (they talk about food, Italian and foreign) cause they came in my area and are talking about food and wine that are basically my favs/what I grew up with -also the place (read below*) they're eating in. They add subtitles in English to their videos (if something sounds a bit too literal is cause they are trying to translate sayings or such).
*The Abbazia dei Santi Nazario e Celso in San Nazzaro Sesia is located inside a huge Natural Park called "Lame del Sesia" (La Sesia is a very important river in this area as it serves water for cultivations among which the many rice fields -Novara produces a very important quantity of rice) and is one of the most important monastery complex of the whole Piedmont as it is made of different styles and ages. It passed to the Benedettini monks and then turned into a "ricetto" = a structure surrounded by walls that could protect the population in case of invasions (which happened a lot of times). About the Abbazia: (linkwebsite) (linkwikipedia) (YT)

I was searching for traditional foods to make with native plants in my area. There’s not a ton of information because the native population mostly didn’t survive, but I did stumble on this absolutely delightful thread:
Some things I’d like to note:
- Eating sochan (which I don’t have in my yard but probably should add in)
- blueberry sauce made with corn bread
- Three sisters soup and the superior taste of half runner or greasy beans (I already have a local variety of field beans on my list for next year, along with squash and corn! I don’t need the high yield in my garden but I do want to focus on extra tasty local traditions).

Nothing like hot cornbread (or even just BREAD) straight out of the oven with some butter when you're having a terrible day. I feel like if there's a type of recipe that Lucifer would pick up quickly, it's BAKED CARBS. The heat from Hell probably throws off all the proofing/rising times, but he's had several thousand years to practice.
SOUTHERN COMFORT FOOD SERIES Chicken and Waffles Sweet Tea Peach Cobbler Hushpuppies Crab/Crawfish Boil Gumbo (plus character notes!) Beignets (part 2) Shrimp and Grits Biscuits and Gravy Pecan Pie/Sugar Pie Fried Catfish ??? - Season 1 Finale
Description under the cut!
[IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Colored comic!
Panel 1: Lucifer opens the door to Alastor's room, which is dark inside. L: Hiiii there mister. I made you a snack. Heard you were having a bad day -
Panel 2: Alastor's shadow appears, hissing threateningly at Lucifer, who just stands there with a plate of hot cornbread in his hands, unbothered.
Panel 3: The shadow pauses, noticing the cornbread.
Panel 4: The shadow has gone back to its usual size, and it's sniffing at the plate happily. Alastor (offscreen): Did you make cornbread?
Panel 5: Lucifer sits down on Alastor's bed. Alastor is nowhere to be seen under a massive pile of blankets wrapped around him. All that is visible are his eyes and his hands as he plucks a slice of cornbread off the top of the plate. He glares at it dubiously. L: Yup! Niffty showed me! Even used a cast iron pan!
Panel 6: Alastor munches on the cornbread within the confines of his blanket mountain, though his eyes imply he's quite happy. His shadow sits behind him, beaming and projecting little heart shadows. A: Thank you. Lucifer smiles, pleased with himself.

Indulging in Awadhi cuisine is a sensory journey that captivates taste buds with rich flavors & aromas. From tender galouti kebabs to the regal biryani, each dish tells a story of the royal kitchens of Lucknow. Chef Manzilat created magic yet again at Courtyard by Marriott, Mumbai with the best of kebabs, kormas, biryani, and desserts. Food yesterday was not just a meal; it was a #gastronomic experience that transported us to the era of #Nawabs. #Awadhi #AwadhiFood #AwadhiCuisine #FoodAndAllThat #FoodTraditions #Lucknow #Kolkata

so I found this really cool website that sells native seeds- and you might be asking me "snekdood, haven't you posted an entire list of websites that sell native wildflower seeds that you're going to add on to soon?" and yes that's true, but that's not the kind of native seed im talking about rn.
see, on my quest to find websites that sell native wildflowers, I came across this dope ass website that sells seeds that have been farmed and harvested by ntv people traditionally, i'll let the website do the talking:

so anyways this is the coolest website ever. you can find the wild relatives of chiles on here called chiltepines, you can find different colors of corn and cool squash's, and every seed from whichever farm has it's own lil origin story written about it. you can also find other veggies here that are already commercially available to help fund and support this organization. as well as there being a cool gift shop with a lot of art made by different native folk from all around as well as cookbooks, jewelry, pottery, weavings, and clearly plenty more:
Tumblr media
as well as a pantry?? with premade soup mixes??? and i really want to try them now??????
Tumblr media
anyways I think its worth snoopin' around bc I'm almost positive you'll see something you think is cool (oh also if you happen to have some seeds passed down from ur family too and ur also native they seem like they would gladly help produce more)

Making "immortal tofu" (神仙豆腐; shen2xian1dou4fu3).
The tree of the leaves it's made from and the "tofu" itself is called "immortal" due to a legend of one village struggling through a famine, and an immortal guiding them to use a particular tree's leaves to make this "tofu" to survive. It is a traditional folk food found throughout south China.

Lovely essay on holiday traditions of an Italian-American family, but applicable to so many more.
We’ll be celebrating the Svyatnya Bechera (Holy Night) dinner with friends tonight: a Kulebiak, numerous zakuski, and wrapping with the Kutya.

After Lucifer’s multiple requests for pancakes, Alastor finally made chicken and waffles as an attempt at a truce.

[Image description: Lucifer flings himself into Alastor with a giddy hug, nearly knocking him over. Alastor is starting to transform, as he holds a slotted spoon in one hand and a plate of hot chicken and waffles in the other.
Alastor: If you make me drop this, I WILL THROW YOU INTO THE DEEP FRYER!!
