This might seem like an "old man yells at cloud" situation, but it's just wild growing up and being told how dangerous distracted driving is - how, at highway speeds, you can traverse the length of a football field (100 yards, 91 meters) in a matter of seconds - how one split second sending a text while driving could result in a potential fatal crash, and then getting on the road as a driver and being surrounded by billboards. Their entire purpose is to catch one's attention, so they're lining major roads, which tend to be highways. How is it that you're told how important it is to never be distracted while driving, but still being advertised to?
At best, this type of advertising is an eyesore to pedestrians and motorists and a general waste of electricity to light it, and at worst, it is an active danger considering they are there to advertise and therefore, must catch people's attention.
I'm not even against advertising in theory, but this particular mode bothers me so much and I hate how pervasive it is - especially in large cities or highways.

so a post wandered across my dash where someone had gotten a transphobic butthole commenting on their fic, and they were asking their followers go tell this person to kill themselves
and i said, have you considered telling people to kill themselves is an abusive tactic and maybe the proportionate response would be to delete the idiotic comment [alas blocking was not available as the coward hadn't logged in]
to their credit, this person blocked me rather than sending me abuse (though if they replied, I can't see it because they blocked, oh well)
but like. it kinda bothers me that someone i follow thought this was cool to reblog. i thought me and my mutuals were on the same page here. we don't tell people to kill themselves. we especially do not incite others to send someone a slew of such messages. we tell bigoted idiots off, block them when possible, report them if we can nail what they said to a hate speech or threat policy.
we do not tell people to kill themselves.
if you think it's acceptable to send someone a "kys" message for literally any reason please go ahead and block me, I don't want to know you.

♡ Common Trigger Warnings & How Filters Work ♡
Tumblr media
Trigger warnings are important when talking about sensitive topics to ensure our community is safe and inclusive for people of all backgrounds, especially in the jirai / landmine / menhera communities where the core that brings us all together is our mental and physical struggles.
Over time many variations of the same trigger warnings have come up to avoid content flagging, which can make it difficult to filter tags that may affect you or that you may not want to see. I’ve collected the most common variations of these tags that I’ve seen to try and make filtering a little less overwhelming:

♡ More Information Under The Spoiler ♡
how tumblr’s filtering system works & how to filter tags or content:
♡ Tumblr’s Filtering System ♡
Tumblr has two filtering options: tags and content
♡ Filtering Tags ♡
When you filter a tag, any post with that tag (or a tag containing the filtered phrase) will appear like this:
Tumblr media
You can see what tag is being filtered, and decide if you want to view the post.
If the post contains the word you've filtered but is not tagged with that word, it will still show the post. For example, if I filter the tag "pink" a post which says "I love pink" but has no tags will still be shown.
♡ Filtering Content ♡
When you filter content, any post with that word (or any word containing the filtered phrase) will appear like this:
Tumblr media
You can see what content is being filtered, and decide if you want to view the post.
If the tags contain the filtered content, but the post does not, it will show the post in full. For example, if I filter the content "pink" a post with a pink photo, no text, and the tag "pink" will still be shown.
Typically on this website, filtering tags is more helpful than filtering content; although, it does not hurt to filter both if you want to be safe.
Tumblr media
♡ How To Filter Tags & Content ♡
♡ On Mobile ♡
♥ Go to the “account” tab
Tumblr media
♥ Click the gear icon on the top right of the screen
Tumblr media
♥ Click on “General Settings”
Tumblr media
♥ Scroll down and click on “Filtering”
Tumblr media
♥ From here you can add filtered tags, or filtered content. To delete you can swipe left (IOS) or tap the tag and click “remove” (android)
Tumblr media
♡ On Desktop ♡
♥ On the left side of the screen click "settings"
Tumblr media
♥ Scroll down until you see "filtered tags" and "filtered post content"

Artfight mods consider my profile picture to be the height of body horror :/ (has 7 eyes. apparently 6 is the maximum of eyes they allow. let's not talk about how the random character function is almost unusable because you will land into extreme untagged fetish characters every other roll, but hey, priorities)

also this is so simple but. burps as a reminder that you ate. you're well-fed; maybe you even ate a little too fast, but you had your food (or are still having it!), and if you burp and taste something yummy you know that's what's inside you. good burps should be part of any good meal fr

it feels like most of the time antis don't actually realise why something is considered bad (irl) aside from just a vague moral idea that some things are simply bad.
which is why they also dont realise when something is fictional the reasons why its considered wrong irl are irrelevant or just not present.
many things are considered wrong in reality since it causes harm to real people (in the most simple terms) but in fiction no one is actually getting hurt, the only thing thats wrong is the vague "taboo" of it. which ends up being the appeal to people !!

harm reduction for self harm.. hm. obvious tw for self harm, specifically cutting
i think one of the BIGGEST mistakes i see people make is simply not knowing their body. not knowing where their veins are, nerves, tendons, you name it are, and ending up permanently damaging or disabling those limbs, whereas if they knew where these things were and knew the drastic risks in cutting there, they mightve chose somewhere safer and "unconventional" and saved that extremity. wrists for example. these are an EXTREMELY vulnerable area of your body, not just because of veins but because of the major nerves and tendons that run through them to control your hand. i recently injured that area due to something unrelated and it was a nightmare, and i couldnt be more relieved i didnt cut these areas. its sadly a very (if not a staple) common place to cut and many people end up permanently disabling their arms, hands or fingers because of it.
TLDR i think teaching people the risks of cutting in certain areas is extremely important, and where to identify veins, tendons and nerves in their bodies and to know when theyre damaged and what to do
absolutely agreed. i think accessible anatomy education is actually super important so that people can actually understand levels of risk, instead of just sort of assuming what is and isn't risky places based on intuition or community norms. i think a lot of people just don't know where or how to find this info in a sh relevant way.
i feel like i've also had a hard time finding great accessible anatomy info--even in some existing harm reduction guides for sh, some of the info isn't great. i have such a hard time figuring out info from diagrams alone, especially if they aren't well labeled, so i def want to think of some ways to communicate that information in multiple different ways to help people actually understand. def going to look at some of the resources my harm reduction group has for vein health and safety.
thanks for sharing, super helpful!

You are all going to block me but I just realised that I do low-key ship Aether/Lumine.
Hear me out.
It's the plot of so many myths. The best known is, of course, Izanami and Izanagi's story (the whole reason why siblingcest is so popular in Japan. same level of cultural importance as the madonna/whore complex for Christians), but there are also Fu Xi and Nuwa, Sun and Moon gods of the Inuit mythology, a bunch of Greek gods, a bunch of Egyptian gods too iirc.
Old cultures that had god-kings (some dynasties in Egypt and, as we discovered recently, Ancient Ireland) considered marriages between siblings a norm for them specifically and something to be frowned upon or at least unusual for everyone else.
You can't convince me the twins were not god-rulers in some faraway world (they also found it so boring that they don't do it anymore. actually, I'll stand by this headcanon even without shipping them).
Celestial beings that already are one and the same in some sense. Twin stars.
The symbolism just does something to me.
I wish I could say this is not about boring human sex (they are interstellar eldritch beings anyway. merge your photons my funky little sibcons, as Ray says) but nope, I think their interactions can easily take the form of boring human sex too.
(it's just not the main thing they have going on)
I'll show myself out.
P.S. there's also a bonus: all Traveler ships are now threesomes

i think a hugely important and often overlooked counterpart to "curate your online experience" is that even when you block and mute and filter, you are still going to see things that upset you and make you uncomfortable. you just are. and just because you were upset or felt uncomfortable doesn't mean you should never have seen it; sometimes things just happen that make you upset. the counterpart is that as well as curating your online experience, you have to learn to manage and deal with your emotions. how you feel is your responsibility and no one else's.
