Malleus x Reader

Forenote: Sorry it’s been a while since my last post, so here’s a long fic to compensate! Enjoy!! :)

It was no secret that the name Draconia was one to be feared. The weight that name held was not void when spoken in the halls of Night Raven College; though, it was often spoken in hushed tones associated with panicked expressions. Not many people dared to even approach the man behind that name.

Over his lifetime, Malleus had come to accept this as normal. After all, his grandmother had been shunned in the same manner, and she was one of the Seven that the very school he attended was founded on. With that in mind, he found the pain more bearable once he realized that not many besides his guards and Lilia would be close to him. Perhaps that’s why he found you so intriguing. 

Your presence at Night Raven challenged the traditions that the prestigious school had carried on for countless generations. Even with Crowley’s efforts to keep it under wraps, you had helped save quite a few lives and defeated several Overblots: magical messes that, by definition, would have been impossible for anyone of your standing to accomplish. Your compatibility with almost everyone you met was as alluring to him as light attracts the moth. You had even garnered quite a liking from him, despite the fact that you had only talked to each other three times. 

As of late, he had taken notice of you using a camera to take photos around Ramshackle Dorm, his favorite hiding spot. Curiosity rarely ever got to him, but this was something he couldn’t ignore. One evening, Malleus chose to follow your movement around the dorm. To his surprise, the small creature that was your companion was nowhere in sight. For some reason, that made it easier to him in the event that he chose to approach you. As long as Sebek and Silver didn’t come along, he planned on staying until you went back inside or left the dorm. “Hopefully, Lilia keeps them busy until I get back,” he thought to himself.

Malleus raised a brow as you stepped around the crumbling building. What were you doing? You walked into the dilapidated room that he often occupied when he hid from his guards. Your pace was confident and unafraid as you examined some of the items in the room. He remained quite close as you took photos, reading the notes you made in a journal you carried as well. Click. “New book on table - third one this month.” 

Click. “Semi-fresh footprints across dusty floor. Recent visit?”

Click. “Old curtains have been moved. They weren’t open three days ago.”

Click. “Chair’s been moved, scuff marks on floor as proof.” Malleus was taken aback by your observations. You had an eye for detail that he hadn’t realized. It was nice learning things like this about you, but it would’ve been better to do that in a conversation. He wasn’t worried about hiding anymore as he spoke aloud: “You certainly take detailed notes.” 

You flinched, letting out a small gasp. Just then, the camera and journal fell from your hands. You panicked and grabbed for the journal, but the camera was falling too fast for you to reach. You braced yourself for the sound of metal clanging and glass breaking. Crowley would have your head for sure if it was broken. What would he make you do as atonement this time?

A distraction from your worried thoughts came as the voice from before spoke again. When you weren’t looking, Malleus had grabbed the camera with ease. He held it out gently, meeting your eyes as you felt your breath stop. With a mix of fear and excitement, you exclaimed: “It’s you!” 

He smiled, hoping to put your worry to rest. “Hello again. It’s been some time since we last spoke like this. I hope you’ve been well.”

You brushed a hair out of your face, struggling frantically to juggle the camera and the journal as you flushed. “I-I’ve been alright. I-I wasn’t expecting to see you, Hornton.” 

He chuckled at the name you said. “I almost forgot you gave me that name. It’s endearing now more than anything. But, I digress. What are you doing here?” 

Flustered, you struggled to speak calmly as you answered him. “I thought someone was just living here in these run-down parts of the dorm, so I decided to investigate. I’ve been checking back here every few days to build a file to share with Crowley, in case someone was mooching from the school by living under me. But, now that I think about it, I should’ve figured it was you.”

You adjusted your grip, holding the camera and journal more securely now. With a look of hesitation, you asked: “Were you… watching me?”

The faintest shade of pink met his stark features, a look of genuine shock on his face before it shifted to what you guessed was shame. Was Malleus embarrassed? He spoke slowly, “I was. Though, I would say it was out of curiosity as to what you were doing. I had no ill intention, if that’s what you mean to ask.”

You nodded, understanding now. If Malleus had meant to do something bad, you would’ve been able to tell. He was too honest and transparent to keep things a secret. Even if he tried, it wouldn’t have been very successful with you. Enough time around Octavienelle had taught you how to see through that sort of thing. “So, what do we do now?”

Malleus was, in a word, perplexed. “Truth be told, I’m not sure. I’m at a loss. That doesn’t happen quite often for me.”

You looked around, gesturing to the rundown room. “Well, if you’re here, why don’t we clean this place up a bit? If you’re going to visit, I’d rather it be clean for you. That, and I won’t have to worry about people hiding here.”

He was taken aback by your words. No one would dare think of asking someone of his stature to help with something as trivial as cleaning. From where he came from, most activities like that would have been simply done by magical means. And Sebek, despite his best intentions, would have absolutely denied that kind of task for Briar Valley’s ruler in the making. But neither of his attendants were nearby. Plus, if it meant he could spend time with you, it shouldn’t be too bad.

Malleus then spent the next twenty minutes helping you around the room with whatever you asked: moving heavy objects you couldn’t, holding things up as you repaired them, and so on. It was amusing; that he, heir to a throne and the continuation of his grandmother’s legacy, was acting on your directions. He didn’t mind it terribly. It was a welcome change, doing something like this with his hands, compared to just using magic. It reminded him of his pastimes in the Gargoyle Observation club. Using his hands now reminded him of how he used them to craft the creatures of stone that he admired. That physical contact, in other words, made the situation more endearing than tedious with chores. 

When you were finished, he observed the room. Despite the wall that was caved in to your left, and some other repairs that couldn’t be made, the area was more welcoming than before. It certainly wasn’t like his usual hiding spots in Diasomnia. That’s why this one was his favorite now. It had your touch to the entire place. He turned to you, smiling as he said: “This looks lovely… Thank you.”

Your face went a vibrant pink at his words. Clearly, you must’ve heard him wrong. You stuttered in response, “A-Are you sure? I know it’s not elegant by any means, and it could use a lot of improvements. That, and there’s a wall missing as well.” 

He chuckled, “I don’t mind those things in the least. All of it reminds me of you. I find your presence, as Lilia puts it, ‘a welcome change of pace.’” 

From that day on, Malleus would often hide away in Ramshackle Dorm when he wanted to be alone. How could you tell? He always left things for you to know he had been there. Whether it was a book, a note, gems, or trinkets that Lilia had shared with him, you always had a topic for conversations together. 

You’d talk with him more frequently in the future because of this, and it helped Malleus feel as if he’d finally found someone who saw beyond how the rest of the world viewed him. He was no longer some fearful, untouchable being capable of destruction. He was simply your friend, and he wouldn’t want it any other way.

SeedComp! is a newly created 2-round interactive fiction game jam, focusing on creativity and the growth of ideas, happening over on Itch.io. 

SeedComp! is separated into 2 distinct rounds: Planting and Sprouting. During the Planting Round, you are invited to submit 'seeds' into the competition (text, images, code, etc...). In the Sprouting Round, you get to select one or more seeds and use them as inspiration for your interactive fiction entry for fun, awards, and bragging rights!

You can take part in either round or both. The first round runs from Dec 7th to Jan 7th, the second from Jan 9th to March 1st.  You can sign-up to Round 2 here. 

All indicated deadlines are set to midnight UTC -10/HST time. Don’t worry, they are translated to your local time automatically on Itch.

Round 1 : Planting

During the 1st Round, Planting, you are invited to submit 'seeds' into the competition. These seeds can be absolutely anything, from game introductions, pieces of art, blurbs, design documents, puzzles, poems, characters, I7 extensions, settings, feelies, or even code!

You can submit:

As many 'seeds' as you'd wish.

Unfinished  IF projects, only if you are the author of said entries.

NSFW  seeds as long as content warnings are included.

Other guidelines:

Seeds must be your own creation and licensed under a CC BY-NC licence, CC-BY license or equivalent, or a less restrictive license.

All seeds must be downloadable.

While there is no minimum word count for static text seeds (like blurbs/intros), we encourage you to submit more than just one sentence.

All seeds will be screened by the organisers for trolling/abuse.

If your seed is not selected during this edition of the SeedComp!, you may choose to keep it in the seedbank and make it available for future editions until it is used.

Round 2 : Sprouting

During the 2nd Round, Sprouting, you can sign-up your intent to use Seeds (optional, via this form [TBA]) and submit your entry to Round 2.

Submission Guidelines:

All entries must be Interactive Fictions.

All entries must be completed games. While there is no requirement in length, a reasonable target is about 15-30 minutes to play.

All entries must be based on at least one seed from Round 1. You may choose to incorporate more  or all seeds if you wish to. 

The entries must follow the licensing type of the most restrictively licensed seed used (indicated on the seed page).

All entries must indicate the seeds used in their submission form.

Seed use is not exclusive to one person, multiple people can sign up for the same seed.  There is no 'dibs'.

You may use your own seed from Round 1.

While you may use only your own seed, this does go against the spirit of SeedComp! and thus your submission won’t be eligible for awards.

Content Warnings must be displayed when submitting the entry.

You can also opt out of receiving awards on your own when submitting. Organisers can submit entries but are not eligible to receive awards.

Playing and Voting for Awards

All Sprouting entries will be made available to play shortly after Round 2 ends. 

Unless opted-out, every entry is eligible for Awards. Awards are titles set by the organisers (such as Best Overall, Best UI, Best Puzzle, etc..). However, every entry can also be nominated for Stickers, which are unique awards submitted by voters for a specific entries (note: all stickers will be screened by the organisers). 

Awards will also be awarded to seeds, such as Most signed-up Seed, or Most Finished Entries for a Seed, etc..

You will be able to vote for Awards and submit Stickers starting March 2nd/3rd until March 31st through this form [LINK TBA]. The results will be released early April.

کشک بادمجان ~ Kashk-e bademjoon

Since I've just made some and it's so so tasty, here's my recipe for kashk-e bademjoon (kashk & egglant dip dish)

You'll need:

1 big eggplant

1 big onion or 2 small ones

Garlic (be generous)

Ground walnuts

Kashk*

Spices: turmeric, paprika, cumin, black pepper (whatever you have)

Dried mint (optional)

*Kashk is not easy to find outside of iranian stores, and hard to substitute. It's a kind of fermented curdled milk paste and it tastes really strong. I see people online substituting it with greek yogurt and honestly, it just won't be the same taste at all. It probably makes a great dish, but it won't be kashk-e bademjoon. If you can't find kashk (which is likely, sometimes you can find dried kashk in indian/turkish stores but you really need the paste and I've never been able to rehydrate the dried balls into a paste lol), try to use a sheep or goat cheese which can melt/flake off and has a strong taste (if you can't taste the farm, if it doesn't feel like licking a sheep, it's not the right one lol).

That being said! Here are the steps:

As a forenote, do NOT add salt during the first steps, kashk is very salty and you'll need to wait until the end to add it and adjust to taste

Peel the eggplant and slice it lengthwise, cook it in a pan with oil and paprika until soft and lightly grilled

Slice the onions and cook them in a pan (use the same pan as the eggplant). When translucent, add turmeric, paprika, cumin, and hot paprika/cayenne if you want a little kick. Mince the garlic and add it to the onions. Cook until golden

Add the eggplant back into the pan and mix well

Add dried mint to taste

Add ground walnuts

Let cook until the walnuts are well roasted

Add about 3 big spoons of kashk, to taste

Let cook a bit more on low heat until everything is well incorporated

Bam! You've got kashk-e bademjoon. Eat it on some bread :)

unfortunately, not all posts can produce a hydrocarbon upon analysis. this can be for many reasons. the most frequent, however, is an odd number of hydrogen (h) atoms¹, so if your post/ask doesn't get a response, this may be why.

i also try to avoid longer posts as there are so many combinations possible that many are unstable or just not documented.

others may have multiple possible structures. i try to minimise complexity (again, for readability), so multiple structures will only be shown for posts containing 6 or fewer carbon atoms.

this is also where i stop caring about set completion (see list at end).

methodology:

first, a post is stripped of all letters other than 'c' and 'h', leaving punctuation and emojis for clarity.

secondly, points in the post that must remain constant are located (ie, a CH3 group at the start/end), then i work forwards/backwards from there.

as far as i am concerned, any adjacent hydrogens are fair game (ie, ethene could be expressed as hchhch, chhhhc, hhcchh... but not cchhhh), so they are matched up with carbons to maintain 4 bonds per C atom.

most hydrocarbons have a cyclic isomer, too; so if it has one that is accessible from the post, i will usually include it. sometimes i can only make the cyclic isomer, so the linear one is excluded.

there may also be multiple linear/cyclic isomers, so as stated prior, these will only be included if there are less than or equal to 6 carbon atoms.

lastly, it is double-checked against online databases to ensure it does indeed exist, and i am not stupid (spoiler, i am).

1: while i am aware radical and ionic substances fit this description, this is a dumb gimmick blog, and i am trying to maintain as much readability for the average reader as possible.

fern team lore!

about time i started talking about fern's pokemon and how they joined his team. as a forenote i'd like to say that i have removed the relation between nature, taste, and stat boosts, if only because i want their natures to be reflective of how they act and less dependent on what they're like in battle. (the taste thing is bc fern's froslass also has a sweet tooth and i couldn't find a +spatk nature for her. she's a special one.)

apart from that, overall most of fern's pokemon have joined him on their own basis. he also doesn't nickname his pokemon.

meeting: froslass is fern's partner, and she has been looking out for fern for around 15 years. as young children, fern and fresia often played with two snorunt on the mountains around frozen heights. while fresia took one snorunt with her to sinnoh, one stayed in borrius with fern. upon receiving pokeballs from the professor, he asked snorunt to join him on his journey.

personality: sassy (cheeky) nature. like fern, she likes sweets and is a little bit of a prankster! she likes to use her ominous wind and icy wind to spook people and pokemon alike. her prankster's habits do sometimes land her in sticky situations, but she is also very good at mysteriously getting out of them. she is incredibly protective of fern, and often will stay outside of her pokeball while they are travelling as an extra pair of eyes.

evolution (snorunt > froslass): snorunt ran face-first into a rock on route 7 containing a hidden dawn stone while running away from a pack of wild alolan rattata that she angered with a prank. she was able to get away unscathed and evolved in time to fend off the wild pokemon, but fern was not amused.

meeting: fern took a liking to the larvitar in the cage when he broke the cage lock in the shadow base, noticing how he chewed on the bars and was already trying to escape. at this point, fern didn't have as much knowledge of pokemon, and simply just chose the one he liked. larvitar pledged loyalty to fern as repayment for breaking him out of the cage.

personality: adamant (hardworking) nature. as the physically strongest and largest of fern's team, his presence may be intimidating to some, but in reality, he is actually rather earnest, and is very reliable both on and off the battlefield. he will crack a smile at the rare joke, but only if it's somewhat bad. overall, a sturdy and trustworthy companion.

evolution (larvitar > pupitar): larvitar evolved during fern's battle against alice, as his ground-type moves weren't landing at all. pupitar, who was able to float, won the battle for fern.

evolution (pupitar > tyranitar): during his battle against maxima, fern relied heavily on pupitar's trust in him to pull off several risky moves. at the climax of the battle, pupitar evolved into tyranitar as a symbol of his bonds with fern.

araquanid

meeting: before fern made his way to cinder volcano, he stopped by route 3 to do some training, and perhaps pick up a water-type in preparation for the volcano. while training, he followed the cry of a pokemon, hoping to battle it, but instead found a dewpider with a rapidly drying bubble stuck in the crack of a rock. larvitar and fern were able to extract her from the rock with some effort, and once free, she challenged larvitar to a battle. her effortless victory earned her a spot on fern's team.

personality: bold (headstrong) nature. a little prideful and very much confident in her abilities, she has a little one-sided grudge against tyranitar as he saw her stuck in a rock when they first met and finds it extremely embarrassing. however, she respects the rest of the team's power, including tyranitar, and her grudge has softened by a lot. she has a competitive streak and enjoys battling against tougher opponents, especially with fern's creative guidance.

evolution (dewpider > araquanid): dewpider evolved to better utilise her type advantage over zeph's houndoom, which had the advantage in raw power, when they battled after crater town.

gardevoir

meeting: fern returned to cinder volcano after jax had dropped him off, deciding to investigate if any clues had been left. near the end of his investigating, a little ralts ran up to him and began to cling to his legs. a confused fern was able to detect her distress through her ability, synchronise, and determined that she was lost. fern took ralts to the exit of the volcano, but she refused to let go of fern's leg until he took her along with him.

personality: bashful (shy) nature. while she was a little more timid as a ralts and kirlia, her confidence has built up through being able to sense fern's deep trust in her. she can still get easily overwhelmed if too many things are happening, and, if in battle, her pent-up hyper voice is something to be feared. on the flip side, it has helped prevent froslass's antics before...

evolution (ralts > kirlia): on route 9, fern and jax were hard pressed to defeat the shadow warriors. despite her defensive type disadvantage, ralts evolved into kirlia to learn draining kiss, regaining the momentum for fern.

evolution (kirlia > gardevoir): in a similarly desperate situation, kirlia saw fern about to be attacked by aklove's summoned legendaries at the ruins of void. her instinct to protect fern made her evolve into gardevoir, eventually fending off the legendary birds.

flygon

meeting: while lost in the great desert, fern sought shelter behind some rocks to catch his bearings. unfortunately for him, the rocks marked a spot for a wild vibrava who had buried something beneath them, and thought fern was here to steal his things. fern fought off the vibrava as well as he could without harming it, and eventually got across that he was just lost. vibrava, finally understanding, helped lead fern to the edge of the desert in return for some berries. when fern returned to gurun town from vivill town, he was surprised to find a vibrava waiting for him at the edge of the desert. with some cheerful insistence, fern was convinced to take vibrava along with him.

personality: jolly (cheerful) nature. prone to outbursts of enthusiasm, flygon is affectionate with his trainer and teammates. he is rather curious and enjoys patrolling with fern, which is to his advantage as he is fern's main flying pokemon. he doesn't particularly like when fern stays in frozen heights, as the chill dampens his mood, but fern keeps a pile of warm blankets in his room for flygon to bury into. when fern stays over at jax's, he likes to curl up with pyroar.

evolution (vibrava > flygon): vibrava evolved to be able to fly above the waters of tessy's gym, as the heightened vantage point allowed fern to better strategise against tessy's pokemon in the murky water.

sceptile

meeting: formerly a pokemon from the safari zone, sceptile met fern when he was still a grovyle. fern took on a job to capture a missing grovyle who had escaped into cootes bog, and chased the pokemon to the bog's hidden grotto. fern was able to defeat a dynamaxed grovyle, and attempted to return him to the safari zone. however, grovyle violently refused, and fern returned to the safari wardens. he lied that he had lost grovyle in the bog, then returned to tell grovyle that he was free to do whatever he wanted. impressed with fern's strength and understanding of his wishes, he decided to join fern.

personality: careful (cautious) nature. his past habits keep him alert at all times, with quick reflexes and even quicker attacks. overall, he likes to battle and show his strength, especially against stronger opponents, and his style involves utilising his environment to the extremes, but can be a sore loser sometimes. he appreciates fern for adopting him onto his team and giving him the freedom he wanted, especially because he hated being caged up in the safari zone.

evolution (grovyle > sceptile): grovyle evolved in order to launch a fast surprise attack during fern's battle against jax for the champion's seat.

shaymin

meeting: some time after becoming champion, melony asked fern to accompany her to flower paradise, where she wanted to pick some gracideas for ace and marlon. a group of shaymin emerged from the flowers as they were talking together and acknowledged the gratitude within their hearts. when the group left, one willingly stayed behind with fern, and while fern was hesitant to bring a mythical pokemon onto his team, melony pointed out that it would be rude to refuse, and thus fern decided to keep shaymin.

personality: impish (mischievous) nature. shaymin is also a little bit cheeky, but they're less of a prankster and more of a gourmet thief! they particularly like the taste of jax's homemade poffins, and will pilfer them if left to their own devices. they like to defy the elegant image of their species, and prefers to battle in their sky forme, where they can dart around freely.

toxapex

meeting: fern battled a dynamaxed toxapex in a completely deserted underwater cavern to unlock the underwater stone tablet. however, during the battle, he noticed something off about toxapex and instead of letting him go after his victory, he drew closer to investigate. upon finding what seemed like an old injury opening up, fern decided to bring him to a pokemon centre to be checked up. fern took care of toxapex during his recovery, intending to release him afterwards, but even when he was fully recovered, he refused to leave fern's side.

personality: lonely (reclusive) nature. fern isn't fully aware of what happened to him, but from the shape of the scars on his legs, he guesses that toxapex was once attacked by a bruxish and was forced to seclude himself in a warm cave as his injured legs could not fully keep his body warm in the colder months. his dynamaxed form scared away other pokemon, so he spent most of his time alone. although that has made him awkward in expressing emotion, he seemed to connect with fern due to how he perceives fern to be similar. fern hopes to be able to connect with him deeper, and makes sure to leave a bath of warm water for him whenever he can.

other pokemon

gible: the male gible fern found in the shadow base with jax. fern intended to raise him, but after fresia returned with her garchomp in tow (yes, his nickname is gary.) fern gave gible to fresia, as she knew how to raise him better and fern already had eight pokemon to look after.

vulpix (alolan): fern's mom's pokemon. originally, jax received an egg from a girl in blizzard city for helping her, but he had to place the egg in the daycare as he soon found out about the shadows. just before fern became champion, vulpix hatched from her egg, but jax realised he couldn't look after her properly because of dresco town's climate. after the kidnapping at the ruins of void and fern's official induction as champion, jax gave her to fern when fern explained that he wanted a pokemon to keep his mom safe.

FPS recommendations for PS5?

FPS recommendations for PS5? Forenote: Please do not push Ubisoft (Far Cry/Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon, etc) or CoD/CoD adjacent like Battlefield games. They're fine for whatever audience but it's not me in their modern takes. I'll share an anecdote and some games I've enjoyed below, and thanks for your time either way!I just started up Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 and it made me feel like a kid playing an FPS again, very intuitive but with a learning curve and a whole lot to do in each chapter, all set up by a very hands-off tutorial that lays out your equipment and sends you on your way. The mission structure set with large environments reminded me of something I played just prior. This is coming off the heels of doing my third playthrough of Crysis and both games have made me feel badass from/across large distances. I want more of that feeling, but less exclusive to just sniping/sneaking about (not that it's an issue, love it, just want some variety.)Games I like of the genre (even if they break standard convention a bit/a lot) for a point of reference:Doom 1-'16. 3 is ehh, but primarily because I'm bad with the jump scares that game tosses at you. (Eternal is great, but it loses the Doom essence for me unlike 3 which is far too heavy-handed with the essence imo)Shadow Warrior, throw a dart at a list of them and it's there, but OG and SW2 are my favorites, probably leaning towards 2. Makes you feel like a ninja.Immortals of Aveum. Hexen clone of the modern era, but with a pretty fun story and a star cast.Journey to the Savage Planet. Metroidvanias are my jam, on top of an FPS with some comedic joy sprinkled on it.Serious Sam. All of them, although 3 is definitely a product of its time even though I'm nostalgic for it. 1/2 are interchangeably awesome.Deep Rock Galactic. Probably the hairiest "FPS" here, but it counts even if it's just a means to Rock&Stone2TheBONE.Metal: Hellsinger. Less for the soundtrack, more for the rhythm of movement/combat and skill ceiling of that system.And.. Titanfall. I've heard wonders about 2, and maybe that'll be listed here as well/probably take a whack at it soon but I'm talking about clunky, very messy Tf1. That one is MechWarrior but from the perspective of a pilot at all times and it was one of the cooler experiences I've had with an FPS in two decades~ of gaming.Thanks again!! Unless opted-out or disqualified, every entry is eligible for Awards. Awards are titles set by the organisers (such as Best Overall, Best UI, Best Puzzle, etc..). 

While Award eligibility is limited, every entry can also be nominated for Stickers, which are unique acknowledgements submitted by voters for specific entries (note: all stickers will be screened by the organisers).

Seeds will also be eligible for Awards. Awards will depend on sign-ups and use (e.g.: Most signed-up Seed, Most Finished Entries for a Seed), as well as votes (e.g. Most Innovative). If you have an idea for a Seed Award, please contact the organisers.

From the end of the Planting round until March 31st, you will be able to vote for your favourite Seed!

From March 4th to March 31st, through this form, you will be able to vote for Awards and submit stickers for the games.

forenote: sorry, this is a long ask, and idk if this is the right place to put it, but i'm looking things up everywhere (google, quora, reddit, youtube, dsm books and diagnostic tests, and now looking for people's personal experiences on tumblr) and trying to find out if this is real for me or not. i'm also sorry if this is really disorganized because i ramble and am a little stressed and get in a way where i can follow my train of thought, but maybe someone else might not. and i ended up giving more background than i expected.

so i'm not sure if i'm a system or not but i know I have traits that are described in some of the diagnostic tests. but i don't trust my own brain because when i was a kid i used to be a heavy daydreamer so far that if i did it as an adult now, it'd qualify as maladaptive daydreaming.

i'm getting a therapist today, but i just want to talk about this with someone else, particularly someone who is certain about themselves as a system. i'm 20 afab genderfluid (i think?).

i feel like i have persona parts (?), i guess. for instance, i have a part which would qualify a fictive. i can typically feel his thoughts, sometimes in his voice, and he wants to do different things in life than i do. he doesn't really have career or scholarly goals, but he wants a family, like a wife and a kid at some point "if all [his] ducks were in a row". (i want a husband one day but i don't want kids ever.) but i feel like i can tell what he's thinking before he verbalizes it in thought.

and sometimes it feels like (because if i am a system, then i'm always conscious when the body is conscious, i'm always in control at some level, even if another influence or feeling of someone else is there) i can step in and stop them being in action or taking control of the body. in fact i don't think i've ever experienced a full loss of control or consciousness.

but this particular possible fictive, i used to do roleplay online for when i was in middle school. and i remember when i was exposed to the character, and i remember roleplaying. but i vividly remember some of the imagery of the roleplay in my head, and this particular roleplay lasted on and off for a few years and was much broader than what this possible fictive has picked and pulled and "told" me what was real and what wasn't.

like to him, certain parts of the roleplay are fact. like in his original story, he is an only child and dies in the end of the story. when i feel like him or am "talking" to him, he is emotionally attached to his sister from the roleplay. and i've said to myself/him in the past "you're not real, she's not real. the story, even the parts that are what you give credit of me and my friend's storytelling to, that isn't actually real". and then for a long time, i didn't think about it until i started trying to get into writing and daydreaming the way i used to in fandom for the source and it felt shallow and unreal. and i've always been good at imagining. i just didn't put anything into it until the couple of times that i've said to myself "maybe i have multiple personas/parts" then not trusted myself to talk to a therapist or anyone else about it

but a day or so ago, i was looking to get into that old roleplay account, and i had tried multiple times to get into the email i had made for it but i couldn't properly remember the email address. he and i have been focusing on "talking" in my head for the past week or so, and in my head. he was really just resting close by and i was looking at the account and saying i wish i knew the email to get in. and he "suggested" by thought to write the email address a different way than i had been insistent on doing. and i was able to finally get into the account by way of the backup email and now i really really want to take that as proof but i also don't trust that something i saw on the page didn't jog my memory as a singlet and that i'm too in my own head to accept that i'm a singlet despite for years believing so and only having about 3 to 6 months out of my entire life where i believed that i could be multiple.

have you heard of this sort of thing happening in did or another dissociative disorder?

in our experience, and i'm sure many other systems' experience, self doubt is a large factor in system discovery. now, i am not saying you are definitely a system, because 1) i do not know you and 2) that cannot be decided by me. but whatever you're experiencing, you are indeed experiencing it. that cannot be taken away. you may be a system, you may not be. but, i feel it is important to keep this in mind. back when our host was beginning to accept that we are a system, they would very often doubt themselves and be convinced that they were somehow faking it unintentionally.

you mentioned that the supposed fictive feels very emotionally attached to the characters from the roleplay story. that is something that i, a fictive, can absolutely relate to. something that you may want to ask yourself is, if you feel attached to those characters in the same way(s) and/or the same degree? or, are the emotions that he experiences relating to that something that feels unlike yourself?

as for this email business, that does sound like something that a system could very well experience. i can't say this with complete certainty, however, as our system pretty much shares memory.

i would say that talking with systems and sharing experiences may help you in this. and hey, you've already done so by sending in this ask, so well done. i wish the best for you and hope that you are able to figure this all out!
