Steam rises around you as you lower yourself into the water. It might be relaxing but your flesh doesn’t meet porcelain. Instead, you lay across the man who sighs beneath your weight. Just as soon as you recline, Lloyd’s arms are around you. 

You flinch as he grabs his other arm and squeezes you close. You tense as he remains completely lax between you. He’s relaxed and confident. He knows he has control. 

“Ah, jellybean, isn’t this nice?” He rocks you with him. “You have no idea how long I’ve been dreaming of this.” He’s right, you don’t. The more he talks, the more you suspect he’s been watching you for longer than you realise. And he talks a lot. “You and I. Happy. Together.” 

He unclutches his hand and it wanders up your naked chest. Goosebumps rise at the reminder of your nudity. He’s the only person who’s seen you like this. He’s the last person you would want to. You squirm as you feel him harden beneath you.  

His other hand walks to your thigh. He tickles your skin and pushes his fingertips firmly into your soft flesh. You shudder as his touch sends a tingle through you. 

“So, since we’re doing this the not-so-fun way, how about a trip to Las Vegas? We can hit a drive-thru chapel then stop at the casino. Gamble a little, fuck a lot--” 

“Vegas?” You echo. “I...” 

“Oh, yeah, you’re classy, aren’t you, bean? Yeah, that’s not right. Vegas. For my wife. Did you know you can get married pretty easily in Hawaii. And it’s gorgeous,” he purrs. “You’ve never been to Hawaii.” 

You wince. Each time he tells you how much he knows about you, you remember how little you know of him. Where did he come from? How did he find you? And what kind of man nonchalantly gasses someone one out after a whole stalking campaign? This is absurd. You just can’t believe it’s real. 

As he fondles your chest, you’re assured that it is very real. 

“Your heart’s racing,” he shifts his hand to spread flat above your tits. “You’re excited. Me too, bean. Me too. I promise, this ain’t just about the sex. Which I am very much rock hard about. No, jellybean, this is about us. About us expressing our love for each other. Sealing it. A pact to be together. Forever.” 

He laughs. You might even call it a giggle. He nuzzles your hair and hums. 

“Look what you’ve done to me. I feel like a teenager. I’m... I’m just... happy. I’ve never been more certain of anything, bean,” he purrs as he flutters his fingers down your stomach. “You know, I always thought marriage was stupid. Women, they were fun. Something to play with.” He pets your pelvis as he speaks. “I know, I know, I won’t mention the past. You don’t need to know about my mistakes. I was lost without you, jellybean. Stupid. Those women. Sluts. They mean nothing.” 

You stiffen and catch his wrist. His splays his fingers, then curls them. 

“I know, I’m getting impatient. Promise, I’ll be your good boy. I can wait.” He hooks his other arm around you. “Tell ya what. We’ll relax, get freshened up, then we can go book our flights, and look for a pretty dress.” He rambles on as you stare at the ceiling in horror. Everything you say is just a hurdle he easily jumps overs, “and some sexy lingerie. Only the best for my, bean, right?” 

It’s a good thing he can’t see your face. As clueless as he is, you think your disgust would be all too obvious.

Lloyd has everything ready to go. Tickets, luggage you’ve never seen before, and even a passport. You never had a passport. You never travelled and you could never spare the money for the expense of it. That eerie suspicion rises again. How long has he been plotting to dismantle your entire life? 

The question hardly matters. You can’t go back. He’ll make sure of that. He already has. What is there to go back to? An empty apartment and no job. You doubt the company will buy the ‘oh sorry, I was kidnapped’ excuse. 

As unprepared you are for any of this, the airport is well beyond anything you can bare. As you enter, you’re struck by the sheer number of people and the noise alone is enough to make your ears itch. You stand in line with Lloyd, searching around for any sliver of hope. This is it. You get on that plane, and that’s the end. 

You cover your ears as your head begins to pulse. Lloyd nudges you as the queue moves ahead of him and you pull your luggage along. He hands over the boarding passes and your IDs, then helps get the bigger bags onto a cart. He retrieves his phone and the passports and leads you off towards security with only your carry-on. 

You shrink down as you’re crowded on both sides. Lloyd startles you as he rubs your back. You glance over at him with wide eyes. 

“Once we get through security, we can head over to the diamond long, jellybean. Less crowded there,” he keeps his arm around you, “only the best for wifey.” 

You turn your head straight and stare at the back of the stranger in front of you. You hate this. You never enjoy being among the general public but this is all too much. There’s so much sound and people and moving. It’s chaos. 

You hold your breath until your eyes threaten to bulge. You slowly let air through your nose as your eyes flick back and forth. You want to run but there’s nowhere to go. 

Lloyd ushers you forward and your feet drag. When it’s your turn, you walk through the scanner then stop for them to wave a wand around you. You wait as Lloyd collects his watch, phone, and wallet from the tray. 

He comes to you and takes your carry-on from you. He directs you around as you look around at the people rushing by. Faces blur and voices blare. You only move in hopes of being free of this. 

He leads you through a tunnel and the wall of noise fades behind you. You come into a lobby with a desk labeled Diamond Lounge. A woman greets you with a chirp but it’s much preferable to the chattering and yelling of before. 

Lloyd shows your boarding passes again. The woman says something but you can’t discern her words clearly. You're tugged by your hand into another room. 

The lighting is softer and the space is sectioned by leather seating and mounted televisions, and low tables. There are artificial fires set into the walls and pillows waiting on the cushions. You follow Lloyd to a couch and he sits you down beside him. 

“Hey,” he puts his hand on your shoulder, running his thumb up and down, “jellybean, you okay? You look foggy.” 

You look at him and cough. Your chest aches from holding your breath. You nod and sit back. His hand slips away from you. 

“Bean?” He murmurs. 

You press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Another woman in a white blazer similar to the one behind the desk appears. She pours two glasses of bubbly wine. You watch her and say nothing. 

She leaves and Lloyd caresses your knee. You stare at his hand. The dress he put on you chafes. You want jeans and a tee shirt. 

“I...” you begin hoarsely, “hate people.” 

He stills his hand and covers your knee, “I know, baby. Me too. We’ll be okay. It won’t be so bad from here.” He drags his hand away and takes the stemmed glasses, “here,” he offers you one. “Cheers.” 

You take it and hold it up. He clinks his against it but you do not drink. He sips but stops himself. 

“This will be good for us, jellybean. Just think, a proper wedding would be overcrowded, overpriced, and overdone. You know,” he leans towards you and grins, “what I love about you, besides the fact that you’re gorgeous from head to tits to ass to toe, is that you like simple things.” 

You blink at him and take a gulp. This isn’t just a flight or a shotgun wedding, this is your whole life. This man, this maniac, is never going to let you go. 

“You need anything? You hungry? You want a blanket? You can relax, baby--” 

You think about that more. He’s as good as giving you a life sentence. With him. It’s not just terrifying, it’s enraging. He’s enraging. He never stops. 

“I need you to shut up,” you snap without thinking. 

He recoils and his brows arch, “jellybean?” 

Your mouth opens and you stare at him. You wait for him to explode. To say something. He just looks at you, stunned. 

“I said shut up,” you repeat shakily. 

“Oh? I’m sorry, bean. I know you get a bit stressed from everything going on--” 

“Shut.” You trace a finger through the air, “up.” 

He takes a breath then shuts his mouth. He nods and pouts. He bats his eyes at you and sits back. You watch him uncertainly. He just looks back at you. You turn your attention to the glass of wine and drain it. 

Finally, some peace and quiet.

Every little girl, every woman dreams of their wedding. Don’t they? 

No. Not you. Not ever. Never. Not in a million years. And to that man? 

To your surprise, the plane ride is quiet. You have your first-class seat and a pair of earbuds and an almost worryingly quiet neighbour. Since you barked at him to stop talking, Lloyd has obeyed. The longer he stays silent, the more you worry.  

Is he angry? You don’t want to care if he is but this man is dangerous even if he is ridiculous. He did gas you out of your former life. 

You disembark and he gets the bags. All of them. He’s suffocatingly servile. He loads the rental car and opens the passenger door for you. The only words he utters are ‘jellybean’ or some other redundant pet name. 

You chew your lip as you stare out the window. It’s gorgeous. It takes until that moment for reality to hit. You’re in Hawaii. You’re far away from home. Further than you’ve ever been. The beauty of the island battles with your displacement. 

The hotel is just as immaculate as the rest of the scenery. Lloyd checks you in and sends for the bags. You go to the balcony and stare off at the ocean as he fumbles around the suite. 

“On its way?” He says into the phone. “Yeah, that’s great. And the minister? Mmhm, yes, right on the beach.” 

You slump and cross your arms. You want to just fold into yourself. Maybe if you bash your head against the window... 

“Jellybean,” Lloyd calls to you. You cringe at the glass doors and turn your head slightly. He approaches, almost demure in his posture. “I don’t want to ruin our special day but there are a few things we still need to get ready for tomorrow.” 

You face him fully and stare. Now he wants your input? 

“You know I love you, right, bean?” He says, his lips twitching. He smooths his mustache with his fingers then shakes his hand out. You don’t have an answer, just an endless stare. “I’d do anything for you.” 

Love? Really? Right. He knows you as much as you know him. Not much. He might know about you, but he doesn’t really know you. And do anything for you or to you? Or to keep you? Because none of this is what you want. 

“Your dress will be your something new, and something old is your ring. Did I mention it belong to Elizabeth Taylor?” He smiles sheepishly, “so you just need something blue... I was thinking a garter? And something borrowed...” He puts his hands together and wiggles free his pinky ring, “you can try it on? Or just put it on a chain.” 

You squint at him. He’s crazy. That’s obvious but he really is. He thinks this is a dream come true. Not just his, but yours. This is an actual nightmare. 

“Well...” he takes your hand and presses the ring into your palm. “I know you need to rest before the big day so there’s some wine and whatever in the mini fridge. I can get you some champagne? Or something else? Are you hungry?” 

You shake your head and pull your hand from his. You turn away and look back through the window. You watch the coast and the peaceful lapping of water. You can’t be there right now, not mentally. So in your head, you’ll run out into the waves until they swallow you up. That’s much preferable. 

“Jellybean,” he says, “I’ll shut up now.”

Hi everyone!! Ok so I figured I'd do an update since it's been forever since I've posted. First things first: All is well, I am alive, my other half and I are doing great. I've had a bunch of things happen over the past several months. I had a death in the family back in September: my beloved 102 year old grandmother, the last living grandparent I had. It was rough, not gonna lie. Me and my brother and 3 cousins served as pallbearers.

In February I made a huge change in my life, I quit my job of 18 years to do a mid-life career change. I am working on my personal fitness trainer certification and I'm so excited. I love working out and during covid when I got really out of shape I had felt so lost and unsure how to even start getting back into shape. I benefited from some amazing trainers who helped me on my own fitness journey and I want to help others in the same way I was helped. I want to encourage others, help them love their bodies, and reach their personal fitness goals.

I have been working hard on my courses. I am almost done with the first course, hoping to take my exam this week (eep!) and then start on the next course. I am registered for 4 courses total right now. I have also been busy applying at gyms and fitness facilities and I've had a couple interviews so far! I intend eventually to take clients independently but I want to start my career working in a gym/fitness center to get established in the industry, network with other fitness professionals, and learn from established trainers.

So that said, I did put my reader tag list (which I hope is as up to date as possible, let me know if any changes are needed please and thanks) under the cut for my major WIP, "Why Can't You See What You're Doin' To Me?" because I wanted to let you know I have every intention of finishing it, I just do not know when that will be. I am not going to abandon that story. It's my pride and joy and the story I am the most proud of, it means so much to me and I know it means so much to many of my readers and that makes me so happy to know it touched so many others. Thank you all soooo much for your patience and sticking with me all this time. Y'all are the best!

20 Questions for Fic Writers

I was tagged by @yersina ! Warning that most of my fic links are Ao3 account locked!

1. How many works do you have on ao3?

13! They're all different lengths and about half of them are complete? And only more to come because I joined another big bang...

2. What's your total ao3 word count?

It's crazy because I only started really getting into writing in the past 3 years and I hit 151,653 words! I'm very proud to be here! I remember when writing 40k in a year seemed impossible for me.

3) What are your top five fics by kudos?

Haha this is more of me having one very popular fic and the rest are neck and neck, but here is the order! "Hello, Time Goes Quickly", "Fate Led Us to You (It Was Worth the Wait)", "I'll Take Care of Your Roots So Grow Tall, My Love", "Time to be Human", and "The Trials of Loving"!

4) What fandoms do you write for?

I've written all over the place, and some I won't come back to writing for even if I still read! I've written for D. Grayman, Marvel, Mob Psycho 100, Genshin, My Hero Academia, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun, and The S Classes that I Raised! I mostly write for the last two!

5) Do you respond to comments? why or why not?

I actually always respond to comments! Every time. I make it a point to respond to every comment I get on my fics. I just get so excited knowing someone cared enough to comment, and want the reader to know I see them!

6) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't really write angsty endings so I'll just go with angstiest in general! I'd say my S Class Percy Jackson au, "The Trials of Loving" is the one!

7) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Ooooo I have a lot of happy endings! And they're pretty happy if I do say so myself. Maybe my Percy Jackson au for Sctir "The Trials of Loving" again lol. It ends on their wedding day!

8) Do you get hate on fics?

Nope! I have gotten spam though rip. At most it's commenters who are confused so I explain, but my commenters are lovely people!

9) Do you write smut?

... I have one smut fic and it's my most popular one. It's 30k and only like 5k is smut, and all of it was hard to write lol. But it must be done! For anyone curious it is in fact "Hello, Time Goes Quickly" lol.

10) Do you write crossovers?

My first fic was actually a crossover fic! It's inspired by liketolaugh 's crossover fic "Cosmic Composite" which is an Avenger's and D. Grayman crossover. Everyone should check out their fics! 11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so, but I don't really check for that, so it's possible!

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but it would be great if that happened!

13) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

..I have tried and failed because I don't have a consistent writing schedule. I write 10k in 2 months and then go off the grid for 6 lol.

14) What's your all time favorite ship?

Oooo this is tricky!!! Maybe Sung Hyunjae x Han Yoojin from the S Classes that I Raised! I love them a lot. NEVERMIND MAIRUMA LATEST CHAPTER CHANGED ME LOVE TRIO FOREVER!!!!! (Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun ship with Iruma Suzuki, Clara Valac, and Asmodeus Alice)

15) What's the wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

My Welcome to Demon School fic "I'll Take Care of Your Roots So Grow tall, My Love," I had so much fun with brainstorming ideas there is no set ending... I'll update it eventually though!

16) What are your writing strengths?

I'm confident of my characterization of characters! It's why I usually can't do other POVs for other characters. I need to feel confident in how I understand them to write for them.

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

Writing in detail. I like getting to the point, because too long sentences in my writing aren't interesting lol. So sometimes there are images in my head I don't describe enough for readers to picture what I'm imagining.

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Fun! I just want to make sure I use it right.

19) First fandom you wrote for?

Whoops I already answered this but D. Grayman and Avengers! For personal writing it's My Hero Academia.

20) Favourite fic you've ever written?

Oooo this is also a hard question because I don't read my fics lol. Probably "The Schoolmaster Must Die"! It's a School for Good and Evil au with the characters of "The S Classes that I Raised" and I had a lot of fun with it even if it's not close to done.

“Huff huff… This is taking forever! How does Tanjiro do this so fast?” Nezuo thinks to herself, leaving trails of her footprints in the snow. The wind blows through the woods, her hair threatening to come undone from the next tug. She fiddles with the strap so the basket won’t fall off, continuing to think about how much of a pain this journey is. She starts to feel pity on her older brother who walks up this hill almost every day to sell coal. “Wow Tanjiro… The patience you have is insane..”

It’s been a day since she went off down to the village to sell coal. She planned to be home by midnight but thanks to her dear neighbor, Enmu had let her rest and stay the night. Still eternally grateful for what he’s done, she mentally thanks him once again continuing up the mountain. She looks back up, out of breath like she’s ready to collapse and she notices the roof of her house just some trees away.

Finally, she reaches her stop.

Nezuko practically runs the rest of the way up to her home, smiling happily. Finally, she can rest again, finally she can talk to her family, finally she can hug them all in a tight hug, finally she can check up on their well being, finally she can do her old tasks.

She freezes, staring at the open door. It’d be fine to leave the door open, they tend to leave it open all the time it’s just… Why was it so quiet? It was… Too quiet.

“Takeo? Hanako? Tanjiro? Shigeru? Rokuta? Mom…?” Nezuko called out for their names, wandering around the outside of their house thinking all of this was just a silly game. “Perhaps they're still asleep? But Takeo doesn’t sleep late… Maybe they were worried about me? Haha, how cute!” the girl chuckles at the thought, they’ve all had those moments worrying night about each other- especially their big brother Tanjiro. 

I mean, nothing bad can go wrong right?

She goes back to the door, still open letting the cold air in. Nezuko felt uneasy, her mind kept screaming at her to run and not look back. Like what was inside her beloved house was now a nightmare. However, Nezuko doesn’t step back. She pushes her doubtful feelings away- there could be nothing awful in the house and if she's the big sister, she’ll take care of it!

Hello! My favorite WIP has gotta be Blood Drops on Roses. My long fic. My baby. She's at 200,000 K (about 60k published) and showing no signs of slowing down. I love Wild and all the little facets of him, and I love that I can use this fic to show how I see him to the community. hmmm. My Linked Universe AU: Lethal Company. It's my least read and also one of my favorites. The basic story is that Twilight wakes up in Lethal Company. But it gets a lot darker than that as he and the rest of the Chain, who show up in varying places in the story, do their best to survive. Fun stuff Hmmm. At this moment, my writing feels like it's stalling a bit, so I'm not quite sure what my favorite things is. I'll dig deep and say that I like my internal character work. Fics of mine like A Fleeting Flight for a Further Fall and BDOR Prologue: A Haircut are probably my best examples for that. I ADORE other people's ability to write a good fight scene. Gripping, fast paced, take your breath away kind of scene, you know? @not-freyja is absolutely stunning when it comes to that. Just read one of their works like This is an Adjuration and you'll see immediately what I mean. Another author that recently blew me away was st0rmy on ao3 @st0rmyskies (?) (I hope this is the right person AND they're not bothered by the tagging HELLO SORRY) with their Home Sweet Home: The Drabbles Collection. I think it was Chapter 9? Anyways, please go check them out they're amazing.

My favorite boy is Wild. Honestly, I love the differing characterizations that everyone in the fandom has. BOTW is a very open world game, so a lot of his personality seems to come from that person's individual play style (if they have in fact played the game) which I find fascinating to pick out in the story. On top of that, I like to see how his fans in particular interpret his memory loss and resulting personality because of it. How much they believe memories affect his personality, how many habits are able to break through or have been lost forever (I think I'm stealing that particular phrasing from you @elle-rosewater, because you put to words something I'd known but couldn't verbalize). My favorite Wild writer... hm, I've got a few. I love how @gintrinsic-writing did Wild in Degrees of Resurrection (Fic where Wild is raised by the Yiga). I also, at this moment, still SCREAM every time I see that @tashilover has updated Jaws that bite, claws that catch (Twilight is a serial killer, and Wild is the only one of the Chain that finds out). I am still trying to finish Adjuration (.... lo siento), so I can't say I've seen a WHOLE LOT of how @not-freyja writes Wild, but their recent one shot The Shrine (Link wakes up in the shrine and loses his memory) is absolutely killer. Solistrix's ( @solistrix-writes ??) and still, the cradle blossoms (Twilight & Wild's relationship from Twilight's POV) is a banger as well. ALSO I went where the crow flies (BOTW Wild woke up early, never got the Slate) by smokingginger, who I don't think is on tumblr but there's the link. i try to! i let them marinate for a bit just because i usually get very scared immediately after i post things and hide for a little while LOL but i love replying and seeing people's thoughts.

oh by far, or redecorate. it's a jjk fic, not DC, but it deals with the hubris of a man who has never met a challenge he could not beat and it costs his student everything he is and has.

7) Fic with the happiest ending?

i'll grab my light (and go with you) is my happiest (finished) ending! happy is probably a very simplistic word but i don't know. i like thinking about the door to a relationship opening up between dick and jason :)

8) Do you get hate?

i don't get hate but i do get people being a bit demanding about asking for updates on older works. which is almost arguably worse, even if well intentioned i'm sure :')

9) Do you write smut?

i have written smut! i have two smut fics in my wips right now and one published lol. smut is extremely hard to balance but great for developing how you write scenes that are action-focused in general. do i think the nsfw i've posted is good? i dunno. but it's fun.

10) Do you write crossovers?

technically i guess writing the crime matriarch and the dog she didn't want au is a crossover....... but generally no. i just write really self indulgent (usually hockey-based) AUs.

11) Ever had a fic stolen?

to my knowledge no! my art, yes, but my fics are just that specific brand of niche that i think i get saved lol

yes! nothing grows to burn is currently being translated into russian here.

13) Have you ever co-written a fic?

sometimes it genuinely feels like i cowrite wips because i'm always talking through writing choices with friends -- and i used to RP a lot which felt like cowriting. HOWEVER. i have not actually sat down and cowritten anything in the same doc with a friend before. could be fun :^)

14) All-time favourite ship?

this is going to have zero context if you are not syd but jackliv i fucking love you. you have been in my head for almost a full decade now and i think of you with love and fondness.

i don't really ship anything in dc outside of like. night watch LMAOOO. i will read a lot of different fics with ships attached to them and be like "i see the appeal" but not really. jump in. yknow

15) WIPS you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

okay so. i had a dc fic forever ago. strong bones on the plot. case fic. got real fanon-y back when i was a fresh baby into dc comics and in college. reread it. orphaned it, kept the plot, plan to rewrite it one day.

i do not think that will happen. but the actual underlying plot outside of the family drama bullshit was good.

16) Writing strengths?

action and unreliable narration........ i loooove writing action and i love the Internal Thoughts of a guy who is deeply paranoid or anxious so deadset on believing/gaslighting himself on some real untrue shit. i feel like those are my two big'uns.

17) Writing weaknesses?

hmmm. i tend to write longer works, which means when i'm trying to get to a point Very Fast instead of taking my time, i feel like the pacing goes out the window and gets all fucky. feels disingenuine. struggling real bad with that rn.

also dialogue IS very fun but i do not Feel Bonita about it being a strength HAHA

18) Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

when it is done appropriately and well-researched, godsend. hot soup on a cold winter day. exquisite.

if it's some saison marguerite "how do u sey.... boohk?" kind of bit, it gets real old real fast.

19) First fandom you wrote for?

king arthur's horses. i don't even know if that counts as a fandom but he had horses and they talked and they were in love. i was 10.

for a LEGIT fandom that i wrote oneshots for, the last of us i think? ellie my bbg.

20) Favourite fic you've ever written?

honestly non-dc is for sure nothing grows to burn. i still want to finish it. it's wildly self indulgent, it's hockey, it's slow burn, it's about learning to move on from an all-consuming grief when you don't know who you are without it. it's about learning how to love yourself and your place in a world that is not traditionally "meant" for you.

for my dc-related fics, out of the ones published, i'll be gone in the dark is also a niche indulgence. i love writing this thing even though i have never been so scared in my life to post a chapter 2. i just love the idea of a jason todd that gets to decompress and not be consistently mired in a life that is deeply inherently triggering to him (even if he doesn't know he's being triggered) idk....... smth about it.....

also horses. and a jackass named goose. lol.

Ink's 2024 Fic

We all survived another year, and with another year comes a new wrap-up to become my pinned post! Exact word count is tricky this year because of how AO3 counts published works you just go back and edit, but to the best of my reckoning in 2024 I wrote 96,424 words.That's an 86.417% decrease from last year, shocker.

2024 has been turbulent. We went from "I can't believe Mom has to have a root canal 5 days after major surgery" to "I'm so glad the root canal happened exactly when it did" in a matter of weeks. That was in March. The ENTIRE year has been like that. All this to say, if at any point in 2024 I didn't respond to you, stopped responding, or completely forgot something else important, it was probably because something was on fire. Nothing personal, just chaos.

That's also why I don't have a whole lot of commentary about a lot of what I wrote, compared to past years. This year, it was all TMA, and spread across 9 distinct works.

I'm listing my longest ongoings last to give the shorter ones the space to breathe. Completion status, word count, and any standout relationships are listed, but check the tags and warnings on AO3 for full details. The rest of the descriptions here are a mix of summary, excerpts, and liner notes.

from spite- 600, complete, Martin/Elias; I read The Bloody Chamber as my yearly court-mandated pre-Dracula season vampire book, and "The Erl-King" grabbed hold of my brain and said it was Martin's turn to be romantically menaced by Elias. It hasn't entirely let go, to be honest, and very well may inspire future melancholy iterations on the same ship in the future.

Martin is a sheet of ice, and Jonah's hand at his waist, his chin on his shoulder, twin flames that threaten to melt him. Jonah smiles by Martin's ear as though he heard the thought; it isn't difficult for him to circumvent the silent treatment, if it pleases him. "Look."

from what has been broken- 14k, WIP, Jon&Gerry; Last year I wrote a fic about Trevor and Julia just Keeping a very much alive Gerry and then kidnapping Jon from the Circus. This continuation is... mostly hurt at the moment, admittedly. The comfort is coming, I promise!

The Vampire Saga Route 1- 80k, 8 works, Jon/Martin, Georgie/Melanie; The most recent fic in Route 1 is actually a Christmas special Sutton wrote. Christmas special aside, this is the version where the vampire!Martin dilemma was solved with the power of friendship and everything is great forever. No misunderstandings and no ominous dangling plot threads, promise. 🥰🤞

The Vampire Saga Route 2- 43k, 8 works, Jon/Martin, Tim&Danny, Jon/Elias; Sasha tried very hard to resolve this version with the power of friendship 😔

The Archivist and the Adventurer- 45k, 10 works, Jon/Martin; My fae au got an eensy update this year! More importantly, the update introduced Gerry! If you're new, this au is technically complete- right now I'm adding oneshot chapters that take place in the main plot's happily ever after. With Gerry! More Gerry in 2025, hopefully! I want this thing out of my drafts!

Little Archive- 93k, WIP, Jon&Gerry, Jon&Beholding; Egregiously neglected this year, tbh. I swear, in 2025 I'm getting the next Plot Development out into the world. You guys will like this one, promise. For real promise, it's delightful.

Beneath the Stains of Time- 128k, WIP, Jon&Daisy; I really wanted to finish this one this year, but alas. In recompense, the entire outline as it currently sits on my whiteboard:

I've written for a bunch of fandoms, but these days it's mostly Dead Boy Detectives. in theory i have other fandoms, but none that i'm so feral for at the moment

all of them are DBD which is kind of astonishing to me, this fandom never ceases to amaze 1. after the insects have laid their claim 2. like breathing 3. terms of endearment 4. a certain step towards falling in love 5. you can throw a party full of everyone you know

5. Do you respond to comments?

yes, every single one, no matter how old the fic is! i might be a little slow or miss one every so often, but i really try hard to respond to every one i get. comments mean the absolute world to me, so i want to thank everyone who takes time out of their day to tell me they enjoyed my work <3 <3 i also LOVE when fanfic writers respond to me, so i assume other people do, too

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i am an angst with a happy ending sort of bitch, but probably one of the fics i wrote during the Nothing Much To Do Radio Silence (TM) when we were all losing our minds with no updates. haven't read those in forever, so maybe Something to Do, Someone to Blame? or maybe it isn't cinema that i wrote for Nothing Like the Sun? or maybe Tropes for Keleidotrope?

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

gosh, so many. again, i write mostly happy ending stuff, so it's hard to pick just one. maybe my fourth favorite public building to visit, if i had to pick one that hasn't been mentioned already. though after the insects have laid their claim has a VERY happy and corny ending that i will forever be proud of haha

yeah! i'm new to it, but it's a lot of fun

not usually, but i'll stick characters from one universe into a similar universe because something resonates (like Heartstopper Squared or The Quest of the Maddening Mace), but i don't usually write characters meeting or anything like that.

Charles and Edwin from Dead Boy Detectives have such a special place in my heart, and I really hope this hyperfixation doesn't go anywhere, but in terms of pure longevity? Merlin and Arthur from BBC Merlin. I've been reading that shit for a decade. Special shoutout to Alex and Henry from Red, White, and Royal Blue, and Drew and Harrison from Keleidotrope, because I'm still insane about you all too, don't worry.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

THAT IS QUITTER TALK AND I WILL NOT STAND FOR IT. but to give a kind of cutesie answer, i'm not sure i'll ever be done with the libraryverse. there's so much story there, and i keep having ideas for it, so maybe i'll be able to keep playing in it forever. that would be kind of nice.

16. What are your writing strengths?

why are you making me say nice things about myself. why. overall, i think i'm good at dialogue. i actually wrote a whole manuscript in instant messages because i love writing dialogue so much. i'm pretty good at getting into characters' voices, whether they're my own or someone else's, and i find a lot of joy in writing everything from banter to flirting to meaningful conversations (but some of those are easier than others lol)

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

action, descriptions, things that aren't dialogue. i also tend to keep my writing kind of short, so i don't always allow for moments to breathe the way they should.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

woooooof the only other language i speak is hebrew (and not amazingly well) so probably not. if i ever got good enough at another language, maybe? but english is my first and by far my strongest language, so I don't think i'd ever be able to express myself well

19. First fandom you wrote for?

as far as i remember, Lord of the Rings. (no you will never find it.)

1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?

I started with art, then began writing, then started animating, and recently uploaded a fanvid 😅

I'm proud of them all because they are all part of the progress 😌

2. What fandom(s) do you create for?

Supergirl. I'm counting my Sadie/Saskia vid as supercorp.

3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?

Supercorp. And apparently a lot of people don't like them because they hated supergirl? (At least according to tumblr tags in polls. But those people also accuse them of being too straight...)

4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?

They are in my heart. Also, I feel that their last conversation was as close to canon as they could get.

5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?

I was deep into Harry Potter for a long while in my life. That's what got me into fanfiction and tumblr. I still have a sweet spot for what it represented to me in my childhood and the stuff I took away from it despite the actions of some extreme lady.

6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?

My Twilight Au fic 🤣

Was written as a parody, but somehow ended up being way too wholesome.

The power of pasta is my one crack fic, so there's also that.

7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?

I was an avid consumer for years, but it was all thanks to the Supergirl fandom that I dared to try and create something. I was in the process of coming out and accepting myself for who I am, which, despite being in a very open and accepting environment and family, was really hard on me. Both the show, and especially the fandom, were what helped me not only to come out but also to see it in a positive light. It made me understand the meaning of pride, and I am forever grateful for that. That's why I decided to dedicate my time to creating stuff myself as thanks to this amazing community and to do my best to keep it active.♥️

8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?

Some, yes. I have a few friends who know I write, but had not read any of my stuff. I have a few I share my art with, though.

9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?

Someone wrote a fic based on my art a while ago, and I'm still excited about it!

10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?

Depends on the content. Each piece has its own purpose. I try to aim for fluff, but I've been told I accidentally write a lot of angst... oops?

11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?

I'm always excited when fandom friends tell me they like my stuff. Or just anyone in general. It just warms my heart.

12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!)

Have you read the most recent space log update? It's pretty cool...

13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share)

"Alex, you're saying that as if we're not literally standing at the entrance of a school for fairies." Kara said as she rested her hand on the handle of her large blue suitcase.

"Fair point."

"It is ridiculous, isn't it? Like, fairy collage, it just sounds so…"

"Bizarre?" Alex raised an eyebrow as a small chuckle escaped her lips.

Kara sheepishly nodded.

"Well, yes. Very. But that's our lives now, I suppose," Alex shrugged and shoved her hands in her jeans's pockets.

"You mean my life. You're going to badass school for ass kicking," Kara teased her sister.

Because apparently I'm not done making AUs based on questionable IPs.

Lena was the one to drag Andea to sneak out of school for a change. Only unlike her best friend, Lena didn't drag her out to a party or to drink alcohol, but instead to the local game shop where she could learn more about that mysterious game. Andrea wasn't as excited as her, but reluctantly agreed (if only to get out of trigonometry class). Fight for Justice, while being a bit too cheesy, Lena couldn't deny the strange allure of the name. She was fascinated to learn the different ways the game could change from moment to moment, the various objectives one can approach to win the game, and she couldn't help but absolutely adore the art on each and every card.

14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)

Rich girl with issues is a masterpiece, and you should all go read it!

15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style?

I try to always comment, and especially on stuff I like. I don't think I have a specific style tho😅

16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all?

I have about 12 that I actively started, but more that are in the concept phase. Ideally, I'll finish them all eventually.

17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?

It's been almost 2 years since I started The Art Of The Game. I'm close to the end, but it's been a while...

18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published!

19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it?

I feel like a foreigner when I see stuff from other fandoms, and I usually don't know enough about it to interact with it.

4). What fandoms do you write for?

Currently I write One Piece and Kenzarelli, tho the latter not as much as I used to. It's very much One Piece everyday up in my brain these days. Used to write a lot for SVU and Marvel, with some other stuff thrown in from time to time.

5). Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to! I really do! If someone asks a question, I will respond ASAP. But anything else really depends on if I have time to reply, if I know what to say, etc. It's something I'm working on.

6). What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I've written a fair few angsty endings, but man. Violet Skies will forever take the cake. I really was just trying to hammer in how miserable everybody was at the end of that one. It was so angsty, it spawned two sequels from me 😂

7). What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I honestly couldn't tell you. I have a lot of fics with happy endings and a lot of them are about the same amount of happiness XD I guess one of my favorite happy endings is Be My All-American Boy

8). Do you get hate on fics?

I have gotten hate on fics before, yes

9). Do you write smut?

Yes :)

10). Do you write crossovers?

Oh yeah~

11). Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I've had a couple fics stolen in the past and there was nothing I could do about it. it really fucking sucked.

12). Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! Both Horizon and Submerge (my kylux merman aus) were both translated into Russian :D (with permission ofc)

13). Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Not really

14). What’s your all-time favorite ship?

No. This question is evil and I refuse to pick one..... ZoSan. It was the first major ship I ever had and I still love it. The ship love of my life, if you will

15). What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Probably Boom, Clap! I wrote the majority of that one during the height of covid when I really just wanted to write about my current hyperfixations (at the time) being mushed together in a fun way and I never really had an ending planned. And, well, it's been a while since I've updated it. i had a whole part of the fic planned that i'm sure i'll never write. Someday I would like to at least write a satisfying ending. i owe a lot to that fic and it deserves an ending <3

16). What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm pretty good at writing smut. I keep a close attention to detail. Whether it's in crossovers or characters from the same media, I'm really good at finding ways for characters who never met to have a reason to interact and make a relationship work, and build something that otherwise would never have happened.

17). What are your writing weaknesses?

Omniscient POV. I can't do it. I like reading it, but I have to be in someone's head when writing. I can't be a fly on the wall.

Writing plot-based fic. My best stuff is always character-driven with plot thrown in there for flavor. There's absolutely no balance.

Consistent characterization. Sometimes I think a character is in-character, sometimes I think I'm making a character do something because I just want them to do it. This is one I think I'm not very good at, but honestly I think I need outside opinions for

18). Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

It depends on how much, I think. I only have a character use words with another language if it's only a line or two at most. I can't have characters have a whole conversation. At that point I just write it in english and say they said it in the chosen language

19). First fandom you wrote for?

Pokemon lol

20). Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

Violet Skies again. I don't think it's my best written piece, but I put a hell of a lot of love into it. It was a wild concept to have with a wild pairing, and a lot of the time I didn't think I'd ever finish it. But with encouragement from readers and friends, I managed to get there <3

This week has mostly been taken up by reading the behemoth that is Rough Enough…AND I finished my WIP – all details below. It’s been a week.

Completed works I've read this week:

Rough Enough For Love by Nekhen Rated E – A GO Human AU classic. It’s *extremely* E rated, so pass it up if that’s not your thing – the NSFW isn’t skippable. It’s an absolute BEAST at 403,339 words over 42 chapters and took me most of the week to read but I was HOOKED. It’s a D/s themed story, but atypical and beautifully written. There is so much beautiful vulnerability and the most achingly gorgeous CARE ever written. Also major, hardcore Pining™️ & ©️Yearning. I’ve got some experience in D/s spheres and thought I had my preferences iron-clad in my head and this story has managed to turn EVERYTHING on its head, or at least it's given me a lot to think about. This is one of those fics which will stick with me. As someone with family-related trauma, I’d add a content warning for family judgement/feelings of severe inferiority due to family trauma.

Terminus by @emotional-support-demon-crowley Rated T – This was on my WIP list but has now been completed - *sniffle*. Astronaut A is guided back to Earth by controller C after 92 years in space. There are many difficulties both of them have to face and they develop an amazing rapport. Ch 17/17 posted this week.

Under The Summer Stars by @pannotbread Rated E - This wonderful fic has taught me more about physics than school ever did (mostly because I never did any physics, but...well). A & C have to share their time at an observatory because there is Only One Telescope. Not only will you learn about astrophysics, astrobiology, and astroecology, you'll also read some of the most poetically, beautifully written masturbation scenes I've ever seen. *ahem* Ch 8/13 posted this week.

Exodus_2 by @tismrot Rated E – Human AU set in a dystopian future. The summary says it best, really: Ezra studies programming at the University of ha-Gan. He’s as determined as he is damaged, as fastidious as he is precise, and likes to believe he'll stop at nothing to achieve his goals. His beliefs are challenged when a new student appears late to the first Ethics module lecture - and his life is changed forever. It's the future, it's dystopian, it's cyber and it's punk. It's political, grimy and slick with tears, lube and chemical snot. TW: Sex, drugs, trauma. Ch 30/35 posted this week.

Free by well, me: imposterssyndrome Rated E - A & C meet (again?) in an acute mental health ward after both having had mental health crises. A runs a bookshop but is very much under his parents' control. C has been homeless since childhood and has struggled his entire life. They do not trust each other when they first meet, but feel strangely drawn to one another all the same. Where will this lead them? This is a passion piece for me. There is a lot of lived experience in it, and extensive research from both professionals and peers. It has been a real journey for me to write it, and as I'm coming closer to the end it's becoming very emotional for me. Ch 48/56 posted this week – I officially finished writing this this week! I’m updating more frequently now, although I still have to proof & edit each chapter before I publish it.

AO3 Wrapped [writer’s ^and vidder's edition]

1. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

This was another year of needing the push of fests to finish and post works. @calaisreno's May prompts 2024 helped a lot, although I didn't go as far with updating The Private Personal Blog of Dr. John H. Watson as I wanted to. I posted seven (very short) chapters for the first eleven prompts. The remaining twenty prompts have been plotted, just not written :( and will take the story to the end of S3, where we wave goodbye entirely to canon. FYI- my notes for that section say:

That’s the end of canon. NO ABOMINABLE BRIDE NO MORIARTY RETURN NO DRUGS RELAPSE NO EURUS - Redbeard was a dog - Victor was a uni friend

Second biggest surprise was how much I absolutely fell in love with Sherlock & Co. I didn't think I'd have another show grab me the way this has. Not had a ton of fannish output yet, but it's likely coming.

2. How many WIP's do you have in your docs for next year?

A gajillion in docs. I keep thinking, "Can put this away; I'll never go back to it," and then immediately having my brain go back to it. Slightly fewer in the vid idea queue, but that's not zero.

3. Your favorite character to write/vid this year?

Great big cuddly squishes for the two John Watsons I wrote, BBC John and Jonk (podcast John). Same person at core, completely different in personality.

Vid: I liked vidding Yasper for Dance the Night, but vidding Ken to a "Xavier" song was also just *chef's kiss: Imma Live Forever

4. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

Not posted yet, but I've written some Mariana from podcast. I adore her and feel I can write her inner self... but am very frustrated that I know nothing about growing up in Spain. Don't know what her relationship with her family is like, what her inside jokes are with Spanish friends about British people/UK, etc. I have some handle (from an outside perspective) on what it might be like to be Hispanic in the US but nothing on being Spanish in London.

5. What's one pairing you want to explore next year?

Sorry not sorry, more than one:

Podcast Sherlock/John/Mariana

BBC John Watson and James Wilson as exes from secondary school when James was on an exchange program in England

A different deep platonic relationship for BBC Sherlock and "John"

Sherlock Holmes & James Wilson friendship (where James calls Sherlock "Shushy")

BBC Molly Hooper/John Watson taking place after John's gone to prison for assaulting Sherlock in S4. You might not be surprised to learn that their relationship is actually all about Sherlock.

There's also a BBC kinky WIP that ends with Greg Lestrade/Mary Morstan, although it won't really explore that relationship per se.

6. Did you receive any gifts this year?

Yep and they were all great!

The Final Adventure of a Problematic, Lying Detective (Aka Oklahomo IV) which is an hilarious fic based on a Norwegian parody of Sherlock BBC.

7. Did you do any collaborative works this year?

Nope.

8. What do you listen to while writing?

Nothing while writing. While vidding it's the vid's song over and over and over again.

9. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

In vidding, it's the fun match of the music with Ken sliding slowly down the hood of his truck, and the Mt Rushmore horses being the "fake-ass hoes."

In writing, it's from a blurb that I may or may not ever finish: The sex was glorious, a feedback loop of sensation rather than a race to an outcome, and at one point the woman gasped, "God, Watson, you fuck like a dyke." 

Oh, wait, I wrote that in 2023. What is time?
