Babcia here is rocking a moult cap, the signature of a baby being around 4-5 weeks of age. A baby with a moult cap is too young to be adopted out. They might be weaned, but at this age mark they're still learning the social skills that will enable them to thrive in a colony environment with other ratties.

Ratties adopted at this age are at a significantly higher risk of behavioural issues that often lead them being rehomed for reasons as simple as having not had the time to learn their first social skills. When adopting, make sure you are looking for ratties that are a minimum of 8 weeks or older. When looking for a breeder, make sure you choose ethical breeders who consider the emotional and social wellbeing of their animals. Prioritise health, wellbeing and temperament over a cute tiny animal, because often those cute tiny animals are terrified and haven't finished growing and learning yet.
