My Chemical Romance bassist Mikey Way has a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Comic with "anime inspired" art and a villain that goes back to the original '90s toys
By George Marston published June 24, 2024
Mikey Way is turning the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' greatest love into their worst enemy

My Chemical Romance is one of the most popular bands of the last 20 years, and in the time since their last official release, several of the group's multi-talented members have branched into comic storytelling - including bassist Mikey Way, whose latest comic is a short in the upcoming anthology comic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Black, White, and Green #2.
A veritable teen idol of his own thanks to My Chem's beloved presence in the punk and emo scene, Way is tapping into a deep-seated love of both the TMNT and their personal favorite food of pizza for a story that captures the youthful energy of the Turtles in a way that only someone who was there for their meteoric rise and pop culture presence could.

"I was a massive Turtles fan as a kid! Being born in the '80s, wave one of Turtlemania hit when I was about eight years old, so safe to say I was all in," Way tells Newsarama. "My older brother was into the black & white comics early, so I was at least aware of the Turtles prior to that big boom, but my fandom really came alive with the original cartoon series."
"Followed up by the Playmates toy line and then into the live action movie, it really checked every box imaginable for me," Way explains. "The characters and the world building had something for almost everyone. While I was initially into Michelangelo, (because of his name and the nunchucks) I grew into way more of a Raphael fan. He's got more layers as a character in my opinion."

Way's brother is, of course, Gerard Way, singer of My Chemical Romance and founder of the DC imprint Young Animal, which published Mikey Way's first comic, Collapser, which was co-written by Shaun Simon with art by Ilias Kyriazis. For TMNT: Black, White, and Green, Way collaborated with artist Nikola Čižmešija and colorist Lee Loughridge, whose art you can see in the newly revealed pages from the story seen here.
"I love Nikola’s style so much!," Way says. "He has this fantastic anime inspired quality to his work, and it lends itself perfectly to a Ninja Turtles story. I was floored by his pencils and he was a pleasure to work with."
As for the content of the story itself, it all comes down to something that many fans of the TMNT probably love as much as the Turtles do themselves: pizza. Way brings in a classic villain, Pizza Face, who first appeared in the original TMNT toy line in 1990 as a villainous pizza chef, before being revived in the 2012 animated series as a mutated pizza blob.

"I wanted to do a story that was an ode to '80s horror, with a nod to Candy Man or the urban legend of Bloody Mary," Way says of why he chose Pizza Face.
"The character of Pizza Face fascinated me as a kid, because he looked like the mascot on most Pizza boxes mixed with a 'Freddy' or 'Jason'," Way continues. "That mythology I created in my head as a kid really stuck with me. When the opportunity arose to write a Ninja Turtle story, it was literally the first thing that popped out of my head."
And yes, Mikey Way does have a favorite pizza place:
"Star Tavern in Orange New Jersey. Hands down the greatest there is, in my opinion."

Though Way's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Green story is only eight pages, Way does plan more comics to come very soon - though he's not quite ready to say exactly what just yet.
"I feel like I have more stories that I want to tell," he hints. "At the risk of sounding vague, I would say one can expect an announcement of some sort very soon."
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Black, White, and Green #2 is on sale now.

Grace was busy wiping down the tabletops inside the empty Garrison tavern. She hated that she could only really clean once the place was empty, and that she now had to carry the entire burden as (Y/N) was off in Sheffield. She decided that she'd actually get to cleaning when her preliminary search of the offices for any more information came up empty. She didn't expect the sound of the side door opening to ring out in the otherwise quiet room.
"We're closed," she called to whoever it was that entered the establishment, not caring enough to look up from what she was doing.
"Oh I know," the voice that responded made her eyes snap up in seconds. Polly Gray was standing in the doorway, eyes already locked on her target.
"Polly," the name left Grace's lips like a gasp, "wha...what are you doing here?"
"I think you know what I'm doing here," Polly's answer was curt.
Grace knew exactly what she meant without having to be told though. It felt like her stomach dropped at the words, and immediately she began to scramble for what she'd say next while hoping that she still looked composed.
Polly spoke first though. "I was going to wait and see if Tommy figured this out or if he was told about it," she began, speaking slowly to let the other woman know that she was in charge of this conversation.
"It seems that he hasn't," Grace took Polly's pause as a time to interject a statement, tipping her chin slightly upwards (in hopes) to show that the statement rolled off of her back.
"Oh I know that," Polly was quick with the counter, "and I was going to let it go until he did figure things out..." she paused, looking the blonde woman up and down before her eyes narrowed slightly, "but then you brought (Y/N) into this when she never should have been. You've made this my problem, and I intend on dealing with it now," she made sure to enunciate her words so that they were spoken clearly.
"What do you know?" Grace decided to ask another question, wanting to see how many cards could be laid out on the table before she played her hand.
"I know that you are not only a barmaid...that you are working for Inspector Campbell; in order to find the stolen guns," Polly began, "I know that you're the one who gave Freddie up. You had a hand in him being taken away from his family just as it was started," she paused, staring the blonde woman down for a few seconds before continuing, "and I know that when you went to tell Inspector Campbell about those guns, you decided to bring (Y/N) into the situation; telling him that she was the one who was hiding them here in Small Heath."
Grace's jaw would have dropped had she not stopped it as Polly offered the last bit of knowledge that she possessed. She wondered how that detail got out...she'd spoken to Campbell in confidence so that it wouldn't.
"Campbell has a tendency to share his plans loudly," Polly cut into her thoughts, divulging exactly what she wanted to hear. "And I think I know why you did it..." she trailed off then, her eyebrows raising as she waited to see if Grace would say anything. She continued when she was met with silence, "I think that you met Tommy and you fell for him. I think that you struggled between the obligation you came here to carry out, and the man you met. Tommy was different from the type of man you were expecting to bring down, and that intrigued you. But then came (Y/N)...she was in the way of what you wanted, and so you made up the lie to try and get her to take the hit for the guns."
"Why are you saying all of this?" Grace asked, her brows furrowed, a panicked feeling starting to bubble up inside of her. She tried hard to keep her composed front up though.
"Because you should know that, in this city, we Shelbys have power. And with that power comes the ability to receive knowledge...and to make knowledge change, or even disappear," Polly pressed her lips together in an attempt to conceal the grin that was threatening to grow on her face as she got ready to reveal an update in Grace's attempted plan. "I've spoken with Sargent Moss, who has investigated (Y/N)'s involvement with the guns. He’s cleared her from any involvement with them. Your plan is no longer being carried out in the way you hoped it would," she allowed the grin to grow once she finished her statement, taking satisfaction in seeing all of the confidence drain out of the younger woman's features.
Polly pursed her lips before her grin could take over her entire expression, feeling even more confident after seeing Grace's reaction to it.
The younger woman was frozen. She didn't quite know what to do, or what to say in response to the information she'd just been given. How was she to play her hand if it had just been completely taken from her?
"I suggest you pack your things and leave Birmingham before (Y/N) comes home. She doesn't know of this little lie you've told at the moment, but she will when she returns, and...well I'm surprised she let you live after the lies you've told her before," Polly broke the tense silence. Grace stayed frozen. "Have I made myself clear in that?" she asked, being met with silence.
"You can't protect him forever, you know that," Grace decided to speak again, hoping she still sounded intimidating, "and (Y/N)...she'll cause bad."
"You must not have realized how we Shelbys are then. We'll protect our own until we can't. And she may...but you've already caused it," Polly didn't even budge on Grace's weak attempts of a comeback. "You should leave. If I see you again, I might just kill you myself," she advised then, nodding her head once to show her determination.
——
(Y/N) was out of breath as she approached the door of her childhood home. "Mum?!" she called as she entered it and was met with an empty room. "Mum?! It's me, everything's alright!" she called again, making her way deeper into the home. Where are you? she thought to herself, walking into the kitchen to find it also empty. The scraping of something on the floor above her made her realize that she may be upstairs. She rushed to the steps and ascended them as fast as she could. "Mum? It's me, mum!" she called out as she approached the door to her parent's room, "I'm coming into the room," she announced as she grabbed the doorknob.
She opened the door slowly, finding the room empty. She knew that her mother was in here though, because this room was right above where the scraping came from. "I'm here alone, mum...I'm safe," she called out as she looked around the room, slowly taking a step inside.
"Over here," she heard a voice call softly, making her rush to the hidden side of the bed to find her mother cowering next to the nightstand - which was what must've scraped the floor.
"It's me," (Y/N) repeated herself as she extended her hand to her mother, "I'm safe."
"You've got blood on you," her mother gasped, making (Y/N) look down and finally realize that some of Garrett's blood had splattered onto her clothing.
"I'm safe, I promise. It's done," she assured her mother. The older woman knew exactly what she was talking about even though she spoke in veiled statements. "Please, stand up with me now," she said then, offering her hand once more in hopes that her mother would take it.
She breathed a sigh of relief when she did. Both of the women stood up and embraced each other in a tight hug. Feeling her mother's comforting arms wrap around her made (Y/N)'s walls fall down again. She couldn't stop the tears as they welled up in her eyes and spilled over.
"We're safe now, mum. He can't hurt us anymore," (Y/N) whispered into her mother's ear as she held onto her for as long as she could. They held the embrace for a few moments longer before stepping away to look at each other. "I'm sorry for coming in unexpectedly. You were the first person I thought of after it was finished," she then apologized for her abrupt entry.
"It's ok, darling," her mother forgave her, "dad's out of town on business. I told him that this would be a good time to take the trip like you and I spoke about...he's not expected to be back for another few days," she explained her husband's whereabouts. (Y/N) nodded, feeling relieved that that part of the plan they'd spoken about in their correspondence had been followed through with.
"No one was in the bar when it happened. He asked everyone to leave when he noticed I was there...said that he wanted to have a conversation with me. Everyone was cleared from the area before the shot rang out," (Y/N) then explained what had gone down on her side of the events.
"Did you do it?" her mother asked. It flashed quickly, but (Y/N) thought she saw a glimmer of hope in her eyes as she asked the question.
"I didn't," (Y/N) shook her head, glancing at the wall behind her mother, "Tommy was there too. He was able to take the shot when I couldn't," she then explained.
"That's fine...so long as it was finished with," her mother assured her, nodding slightly as she spoke, keeping her eyes locked with (Y/N)'s.
(Y/N) nodded along with her as she felt a lump start to build up in her throat. "I...I'm so sorry, mum," she choked out, another wave of emotion flowing over her as the events caught up once more.
"You don't need to be sorry, love," her mother was quick to console her, "you knew what he was going to do...this was what had to be done. You've saved both your life and mine in doing so," she explained in a calming voice.
"But...but Clay's going to..."
"He's not going to find out. He was at his office while it happened, and you said it yourself that nobody saw it. Anyone could have done it," (Y/N)'s jumbled response was cut off again by her mother's justifications. "It hurts because it's family, but this is what happens inside families like ours. He was going to harm us...we couldn't let that happen," the older woman continued, speaking with a steady voice, "my father wouldn't have let it happen. It's time that us women work to take some power back within our own family."
(Y/N) nodded as she listened to what her mother had to say. "We're going to be ok, right?" she asked once she'd been able to calm down.
"We are. We're going to be more than ok, love," her mother agreed with her. "He wasn't going to bring anything good into this family. I believe he's finally found his peace now...whatever that peace may be," she then said.
It hurt her to think of her son this way, but it was what was necessary. Garrett was ready to fly off of the handle. He was in the midst of planning to find (Y/N) and then be able to rid the family of the 'weaker links', which meant that he was going after his mother too. In his mind, all the women did was take up space...they weren't good for anything because they didn't fight or throw their hat into the ring to help out the family in, what he deemed to be, a substantial way while the war was going on. The only reason why he wasn't able to push forward on this crusade, if you will, was because Clay didn't think that it was ideal to carry the plan out. He was more invested in trying to make deals and expand their control over the city. Garrett usually listened to Clay but, over these last few weeks, it seemed as though he was gearing up to carry out his plans without approval. This is what made Ann Weller scared, and it's ultimately why she decided to write (Y/N) a letter explaining what was happening so that they could create a plan of their own.
She was thankful that all of the different parts worked out the way they did. She didn't want to think of the consequences that would have arisen had one gone wrong.
"You said that Tommy came with you, (Y/N)?" Anne asked after both of the ladies were completely calm again.
"Yes," (Y/N) nodded her head, "he did." Realization struck her then as she remembered running out of the pub and leaving Tommy in the dust as she rushed to get to her mother. "I left him at the pub," she said then, stepping away from her mother to exit the room and rush down the steps. She was fully prepared to sprint back to the pub where she left him, but she quickly realized that she wouldn't need to. "Tommy," she gasped, surprised to see him standing in the front room of the home.
"I was only a few steps behind you," he explained to her, immediately seeing her surprised expression. (Y/N) didn't know what to say, so she just nodded, her worry dissipating once more.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Mr. Shelby," Ann’s voice came from behind her daughter, making her turn around.
"It's nice to meet you as well, Mrs. Weller. And please, call me Tommy," he smiled at her, stepping forward to offer his hand in a formal greeting.
"You call me Ann then," she told him while shaking his hand, making him chuckle as he nodded in agreement. "Thank you for looking after my daughter, Tommy," she said, an appreciative smile on her face.
"You're welcome," Tommy accepted her gratitude, looking over at (Y/N) to see that she was already smiling at him. He held her gaze until she broke away, looking bashfully at the ground. "I'm sorry about what had to happen," he addressed what had gone down earlier, looking at Ann again.
"Don't be," Ann brushed his apology off, "I've already told (Y/N)...he was my son, but he was also an angry and violent man. I hope that he's found peace now," she then reiterated what she'd said to (Y/N) moments ago. Tommy nodded along with her, making note of how she felt about the situation.
"It's getting late," (Y/N) spoke up again after a few moments had passed, "we should head back to Birmingham, Tommy."
"If you're ready," Tommy agreed with her while still letting her lead the situation.
"I am," (Y/N) nodded her head before she looked at her mother. "I love you, mum," she said, a smile on her face as she stepped forward to hug the older woman.
"I love you, sweetheart," Ann repeated the sentiment, hugging her daughter tightly, "things will be better from now on," she assured her, stepping back to smile at her as she held onto her shoulders.
"They will," (Y/N) agreed with her mother, even though she didn't feel what she was saying completely in her heart. "Shall we go?" she asked Tommy as she turned to face him. Tommy only nodded in response, taking a step to the door then. "Bye, mum. I'll write to you when I'm home safe," (Y/N) said to her mother, sending her one last smile before she followed Tommy to the door.
"Bye, (Y/N)," Ann sent a smile back, watching as the two exited the home and went on their way back to the car they'd arrived in.
The walk back was filled with silence. Tommy finally had a chance to smoke; he'd been needing a cigarette after what went down at the pub, but he was more worried about (Y/N) than his desires. Having her safe by his side finally allowed him to give in.
Tommy opened the driver's side door with no hesitation, getting himself ready to enter the car when he noticed that (Y/N) was practically frozen on the passenger's side. "(Y/N)?" he called to her, his brows furrowed as he looked through the car's windows to see her absentmindedly staring at the door. She didn't answer him, didn't even look up, so he dropped his hand from the door and walked around to meet her on the other side. "Everything ok, love?" he asked once he was in front of her.
"Huh?" she asked, snapping out of her thoughts, sounding surprised.
"You weren't getting into the car," he pointed out, "are you alright?"
"I, uh..." she trailed off, breaking eye contact as she hoped to keep herself together, "this can't keep happening with us, Tommy. This can’t become our ‘thing’," she choked out, her attempts failing as she recalled the past two times where they found themselves in a situation similar to what had happened at the pub earlier.
Tommy frowned as he heard what she had to say. "It won't happen again," he told her, a definitive tone in his voice.
(Y/N) wanted to take that statement at face value and hold onto it with all of her might, but she just couldn't. Instead she felt her heart break at the possibility that there very well could be another time. "That's not something you can promise," she pointed out, her voice broken. She dropped her gaze to the pavement as tears started to prick her eyes, not wanting Tommy to see her cry. She couldn't get it past him though, because she felt his arms engulf seconds later. His embrace was tight, one that she immediately sunk into.
"These sort of things'll be done now, eh?" he tried to reason with her, resting his chin on the top of her head as she clung to him tightly. "Look at me, (Y/N)," he whispered then, making her step back from him. He took his chance and took her face into his hands, holding her so that she couldn't break eye contact. "I might not be able to promise that, but I can promise that I will keep you safe, no matter what happens, ok?" he spoke in all seriousness, his eyes widening to show how much he cared. "I will keep you safe," he reiterated his point, his eyes searching hers as he spoke.
(Y/N) nodded as best she could with her head in his hands. "Ok," she breathed, feeling truly safe as he was holding her.
"Ok," he repeated her single word statement in a similar tone, nodding slightly as well.
Silence fell between them then, and (Y/N) realized in that period just how close they'd gotten. She could feel the warmth of Tommy's breath as it fanned across her face. The blueness of his eyes trapped her, shining despite the circumstances and giving her a glimmer of hope that maybe things would be better from there on out. She stayed in his grasp, watching as his eyes flitted to her lips for a moment before locking with hers again. A strange sensation shot through her as she watched him do that, and she couldn't help but do some searching of her own, letting her eyes travel over his features as she admired them up close.
Tommy dropped his eyes to her lips one more time before he made up his mind and decided to stop dancing around what he was wanting to do, what he’d been wanting to do. He leaned in slowly, giving her a chance to realize what he was doing; waiting for her to react in any sort of way. The second he saw her eyelids flutter shut, he closed the gap and pressed his lips to hers.
All of the bells and whistles were going off inside (Y/N)'s mind the second she felt his lips touch hers. She returned the kiss right away, her hands grabbing onto the sides of his suit jacket as she felt like she was about to be swept off of her feet.
The first kiss was short, a sort of a taste or teaser...a way to test the waters. Tommy was the one to pull away, but he didn't move far, only retreating a few centimeters so that they could both grab a breath before he leaned back in and kissed her again; his intentions more firm this time.
If the first kiss would have swept her off of her feet, this kiss would have blown (Y/N) away. She was not in any way prepared for something like this to happen, but now that it was happening, she didn't want it to end. Everything felt right in this moment. Her worries were pushed to the back of her mind as he moved to the forefront.
Their kiss lasted for a few moments before Tommy pulled away again, this time for good as he lifted his head slightly and pressed his lips to her forehead. (Y/N) relished in the feeling as tingles continued to shoot through her body. Nothing was said as he let go of her face and wrapped his arms around her once more, holding her flush against him.
"Are you ok?" he finally broke the silence, pulling her away to let her stand at arm's length as he looked her over.
"More than," she couldn't stop herself fast enough, the half-dazed answer escaping her lips before she had the chance to think it over.
Her response made him chuckle, a slight grin forming on his face as he relished in seeing her sheepish smile form. He hoped he didn't look too animated on the outside, and that she couldn't feel his heart where it was thudding in his chest. "Good," he said to her, feeling like a weight lifted off of his shoulders as she smiled at him.
She pulled him back into an embrace without warning, resting her head flat against his chest. She took comfort in the fact that his heart was beating rapidly, happy that he was reacting the same way she was. He held her tight to him, letting her rest in his arms with no questions asked. Silence surrounded them again until she asked a question of her own: "can we go home now?"
Her voice was soft, but Tommy heard her. "We can," he answered without hesitation, his heart rate picking up again at her word choice.
(Y/N) didn't misspeak. Even though she grew up in Sheffield, Birmingham had grown to feel more like home than that place ever had. Something told her that the man whose arms she was standing in had a lot to do with why she felt that way.
And now she just wanted to go home.

the intro of the episode was very good. i myself enjoy some blackwoods being cool, i think the show set up benjicot blackwood (edit: turns out it was davos blackwood and they cut the battle of the burning mill) very well. the switch to the aftermath of the battle of the burning mill really showed how men are eager to engage in war and bloodshed. not to mention, it was overall greatly shot. even if some of the writing this season is a little wacky, they keep serving us with amazing cinematography. i have to admit, the scenes between rhaenyra and mysaria are very intriguing. i like the dynamic between them. the conversation between rhaena and rhaenyra was also interesting. i sympathize with poor rhaena. she probably feels so useless without a dragon. her expression when she was about to depart was heartbreaking. imagine feeling like an ordinary babysitter in a family of dragonriders. she understands her duty, but she still feels almost humiliated by being sent away. criston finally got a haircut as ugly as he is inside. ser gwayne slays, as expected of freddie fox. i'm really hoping that alicent will become disillusioned with criston because of his utter idiocy. i do understand what the showrunners wanted to portray with her sexual relationship with him, but we really got too many scenes of them together for my liking. short note on ep1: it would've been more impactful if we (the audience) became aware of their affair at the very end of the episode, when helaena comes into alicent's room with jaehaera. the shots of harrenhal very pretty much exactly what they were supposed to be. i am liking the portrayal of rhaenys and corlys' relationship. they're very alike, as they were in the books, and yet they are still unique and seperate people. mother rhaenyra breaks my heart, especially knowing what will happen to them. jace hugging joffrey was cute. phia saban always blows me away and breaks my heart. that scene between her and alicent...helaena forgave alicent for trying to talk about what she saw between her and criston, when jaehaerys had just been murdered. judging from this scene and the scene on the stairs in s2 makes me believe that helaena understands why her mother seeks affection from the wrong person. helaena herself is in a loveless marriage where her needs do not matter. i do wish the showrunners somehow brought aegon and helaena together in their shared grief. ulf the white is interesting. when i saw the tavern girl, i was like, why is she familiar? then my mind went OH NO IT'S DYANA. i will, however, remain silent about the brothel scene. i really don't have anything to say, aside from noting the courage of ewan mitchell. i love that gwayne does his own thing, not letting criston talk him down. baela proves why she is called 'the brave.' i'm sorry i'm distracted by how pretty they made ser gwayne. i imagine he'll be a delight to watch on the screen in the coming episodes. rhaenyra's council continues to eat her every nerve aside from rhaenys. daemon in his room in harrenhal is giving when you get scammed by your airbnb with all the drippy ceilings. young rhaenyra in harrenhal just perfectly encapsulates daemon's guilt. it was also a very haunting scene. i missed milly alcock. the alys introduction was just perfect. gayle rankin looks perfect as her, though there's something about her voice that will take some getting used to (i'm neurodivergent and i have a thing with voices, don't mind it). i have to say, this episode has been, for now, the best of the season. geeta vasant patel is an amazing director and i expected nothing short of amazing of her.
i am terribly, terribly sorry for the lengthy train of thought. i truly wrote as i watched the episode. truly thought invoking.
edit 2: i was legit thinking "hm i'm kinda bummed out no one's interacting w my post" then i remembered that it's been sitting in my drafts since yesterday. o yeah, this episode has its faults, but atleast it didn't make me thoroughly confused with the writers and showrunners

A better man ~ young!Tommy Shelby & Reader (Angst & Fluff)
Tumblr media
[Celebration] [Celebration Masterlist] [Masterlist]
Notes: This was requested and written for @cillmequick back when she was @alex-in-the-wilderness and she requested by DM.
Summary: In anger, a young Tommy repeats the rhetoric he has heard at home too many times and immediately regrets it - or: the day Tommy decided to break the cycle.
Warning: Sexism, insults, Implication of domestic abuse(18/21+). I do not consent to my work being translated, copied or posted elsewhere on this platform or any other.
Words: 1604 words
“What about Harry?”, she asked, swinging her legs back and forth.
At her feet, an array of tiny wood chips had begun to form from Tommy hacking away at a piece of wood with his pocket knife.
“No.”, he said, bringing the blade down once more.
“Why not?”
“He’s an idiot.”
“Why is he an idiot?”
“Cause he is. Everyone knows that.”
She shrugged as she looked him up and down. He was tall, not too bad looking and almost seventeen, which meant he was practically a man.
“I don’t know that.”
“Now you do.”, he snarled under his breath without looking at her, his long dark hair falling into his face.
“You’re supposed to help me!”, she snapped angrily.
That was the deal. She covered for him when he had stolen that medicine for Ada and in return he had given her a favour - any favour.
And what better day to call it in than fair day?
After all, she was already fifteen and still unkissed. If it went on, she’d be an old hag before long and she couldn’t have that. Everyone knew that the older women got the less likely they were to find a fella'. That they'd turn into spinsters and that would mean she could never leave home. She’d be stuck there forever.
Her skin crawled at the thought.
“And helping you is letting you kiss an idiot? Never kiss a fool - everyone knows that. You’ll end up with all sorts of problems.”
He drove the knife in deep, loosening a rather thick chip.
She huffed and leaned back.
“Your sister says all men are fools.”
“Then never kiss a man.”, he hissed, as if it was the most natural reaction in the world.
“So much for helping.”, she mumbled, unable to stop herself from rolling her eyes.
Tommy snorted like a horse about to kick off.
“Alright, so not Harry. Not Georgie. Not John Clark, not the other John. Not Jack, not Billy Cooper. Not Freddie.”
For each of those he had a reason why kissing them would be a bad idea.
“What about him?”, she asked, pointing at yet another of his brother’s friends, a blond, not as tall as Harry, called Bertie. “He’d do.”
“Nah,”, Tommy said. “He has warts. Arthur said he caught them from snogging some tavern wench down in greet.”
Her head snapped around, her mouth dropped open.
When he felt her gaze, he looked up.
“What?”, he demanded to know.
“You said that about Billy.”, she said through clenched teeth, as a suspicion spread inside the bit of her stomach.
“They both did!”, Tommy said. “He said!”
She kicked him in the shin, making him drop both knife and wood.
“Are you mad, woman?”, he snarled under his breath, rubbing the sore spot.
“You are a wretched liar, Thomas Shelby!”, she accused, jumping up and pointing at him. “Just now you told me that Jack was the one with warts and Billy was the one with rotten teeth!”
Tommy turned pale, then bright red as his jaw muscles clenched.
“You were supposed to help me!”, she accused, his betrayal making her itch all over.
He was the only person she could share her plans with, the only one she could admit her fears of becoming stuck, the only one she could trust to help her find someone decent. Or at least decent enough.
“That was the deal!”
“Yeah well what if I don’t want to?”, he snapped, anger burning in his summer sky blue eyes as he build himself up to his full height.
“You promised me! You promised me a favour- any favour!”
How could he go back on his promise? His promise to her?
It made her eyes burn with tears.
“That was before I knew you wanted me to find you a boy to kiss! Are you mad?”
I’m mad at you.
His knife and half finished wooden carving laid long forgotten, as his hands coiled into fists at his side.
“That’s not what proper girls should be doing anyways. Going around fairs wanting to kiss random boys. It’s disgusting!”
Her lip began to tremble but she bit down before he could see.
“You can’t talk to me like that!”
“I’ll talk to whomever just the way I want to!”, he snapped back. “Even thinking like that should earn you a beating to set you straight!”
She shoved him.
She shoved him hard.
It caught him off guard too and sent him crashing to the floor.
Standing over him she felt her chest rise and fall.
“You know what I just realised?”, she spat, “I don’t need your help - I’ll find someone on my own. In fact I don’t think I’d even want your help. Ever!”
She spun on her heels and ran as fast as her legs could take her, through the crowd, passed singers, dancers, drinkers, past them all, nearly knocking Arthur’s beer out of his hand, but by the time he called out “Oi, careful!”, she was out of his reach already.
She ran until she grew breathless, without any sense of direction, of purpose, trying to outrun that burning inside her.
It was like a flame licking at her stomach, at her throat, under her skin, trying but failing to break through and since she kept it all inside, it threatened to make her combust.
She’d show Tommy, she vowed to herself. She’d show him. She would go out there and kiss every single boy just to show him. She'd find someone, anyone, and he'd get her out. She'd get out thanks to him., not Tommy, since he clearly didn't want to help her.
His words rang in her ears until she wanted to tear them off.
Instead she clutched the fabric of her dress with trembling hands.
When she felt h a hand on her shoulder she spun, ready for anything but not him.
“Go away!”, she spat.
“I’m sorry!”
“I said go away!”
She tore at her wrist with all her might but he didn’t let go. On the contrary.
“I’m sorry!”, he said again.
“I don’t care!”
By now she was tearing at her wrist with both hands, which only made him grab the other too for good measure.
“Listen, -”, Tommy began but she didn’t even let him finish
“No!”, she snapped. “Leave me alone, Tom!”
“I’m sorry. Just listen, please!”
She shook her head, forcing her eyes shut as she tried and failed again to get herself free of his grip.
“I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to see you. I want you to go!”
Tommy sighed, the way only Tommy could sigh. It was strange to hear such an old sound coming from someone so young.
He planted his feet on the ground and glanced up at her with a mixture of patience and slight annoyance. She had seen that look. He wore it when either a horse acted up and it only made her angrier.
But her tugging had lead her nowhere. And her screaming hadn’t helped either.
“Why would you even be here?”, she demanded to know, getting right up in his face, knowing he never liked that. But this time he didn’t turn away.
“Why, huh? Why would you come after someone you don’t like? Why would you even touch someone you think is disgusting? Or have you come to give me my beating, Tom? Is that it? You gonna set me straight? Huh?”
Set her straight like a father would.
He flinched at her words, but didn’t release her. Instead he just stared at her, no matter what she said.
“You done?”
“Done with you!”, she hissed, seriously considering kicking him again. He deserved it. And this time she could aim for his knees.
He had mistaken her period of consideration as a sign she was calming down.
“I’m sorry.”, he said again.
“I don’t care.”, she snarled. “I don’t care about what you say. Or what you do. Not anymore. I don't ever want to see you again!”
She had thought seeing the hurt in his eyes would make her feel better, but it didn’t. It only made her feel bad.
“You don’t mean that.”, Tommy whispered, before dropping his gaze, but not his grip on her hands.
“I know what I said wasn’t right.”, he admitted. “I said ‘cause I was angry with you, not ‘cause I meant it.”
“You still said it!”
“And I’m sorry.”
“I don’t believe you.”, she mumbled. She knew better to believe things like that. So should he.
“You have to!”, Tommy insisted, almost in shock.
He was making her angry again, but he kept talking before she could argue.
“Because it’s me. I’m telling you. And I never lie to you.”
She shot him a dark glare, and he quickly took a step back.
“Not about things that are important.”
A part of her, a large part, wanted to keep her anger. It protected her, kept her on guard and away from hurt or at least made it less likely. The trouble was that she wanted to believe him. Badly.
Because it was Tommy. And if she couldn't believe him anymore, she'd have no one left.
When she neither said nor did anything, Tommy released one hand (not the other) and reached out to cup her cheek.
“I’m sorry.”, he said again. “I didn’t mean it. You know I didn’t mean it. I’d never mean something like that. You know I wouldn’t.”
She forced her eyes shut and clenched her hands into fists, all the while knowing he would notice even if she wanted to keep the storm inside her.
“I’m sorry.”, he said again, and again and again, his hand finding the back of her head and bringing her in until her face was in the crook of his neck.
He held her until she felt her inner storm ebb off, leaving just the exhaustion and deversation after, until she held him back. And he didn’t let go for a long while after, whispering apologies and promises all over again.
And with anyone else, she wouldn’t have believed them.
End.

More wildermyth/fantasy au c:
Monty this time!!!! he’s probably turned out my favorite out of the bunch so far.
Anyway monty backstory.when he was…not bones, he was a drauv (dragon person)! He was wounded near-fatally in a fight and a few of his former teammates took him to be made into an enduring but then they got scared and just sorta…ditched him there. Which, to say the least, stung.
He sort of ended up on his own for a bit before running into freddy and chica performing at a tavern one night and instantly falling in love with their craft. He worked up the grit to talk to them, found himself quick friends with them (as well as another enduring who had apparently had the same idea) and eventually they ended up teaching him how to perform.
He plays percussion in this one. He loves slapp things.
Monty may not have any particular abilities (other than. Yk. Being a huge dragon person made of bones and metal.) but that on its own and his sheer strength make him a force to be reckoned with. He’ll often swish his tail and rattle the vertebrae on it as a sort of warning/threat before striking.

Link: I don’t have a dice can I just think of a number?
Hermie: I’ve carved these dice out of hardened bits of cheese. Here’s a d20 my friend.

Taylor: Roll the cheese dice
Scary: ummm no you have to roll
Link: Okay, I got- I don’t like this number though

[laughter]
Normal: Oh man
Freddie: It is an unlucky number in Chinese uh-
Link: Oh. Well they know what they’re talking about
Anthony: Dear listener, you had an episode with lore and all that shit. The world has to re-balance itself. You don’t get to complain about this.
Link: Alright I got a four

A quick question about Depressed!Freddy, tw alcohol.
can he... Drink alcohol?? What I'm trying to ask is would he drink the pain away?
(This is research for the tavern, and yes. It does have alcohol)
Yes, he can drink and get drunk. The only reason why he hasnt gotten drunk is because the pizzeria doesn't have alcohol and he would try, but it would just make him more emotional.

i'm feeling like i'm in a bit of a writing slump, so if anyone would like to dm about plots or threads, lmk <3 i have a lot of muses to work with, haha sometimes i don't know what to do with them.
i don't mind angst, at all, but i will not write taboo things. i also prefer to fade-to-black in smut senarios, so if you're looking for a smut-heavy thread, i'm sorry!
i'm gonna try and work on some of the threads i have. All of my muses are like period, historical, or fantasy! Here are my muses that I currently write with, if you want to check them out:
Women <3
Athena Cunningham (Maia Mitchell fc). Plays noblewomen, princesses, etc. Good for regency or later. She's reckless and a little naive.
Henrietta Owens (Alisha Boe). Plays servants, village girls, princesses, handmaidens, noblewomen, low-key anything. Good for both medieval and regency plots! She's passionate and well-rounded.
Juliet Fairchild (Kristine Froseth). Plays any period role. She's expressive, usually wealthy, and kinda spoiled. She means well, though.
Sara Sarrarel (Poppy Drayton). Plays princesses, village girls, any medieval/fantasy role tbh. I have her as more of a medieval character. She's stubborn and annoying <3
Reyna Rusnak (Millie Brady). She plays commoners, usually in a fantasy setting. She's better for darker themes just based on vibes alone. Works well in medieval settings. Her personality is pretty verse-dependent. I have her as being loyal, scrappy, and a little mysterious
Fiona Campbell (Sophie Skelton). She plays commoners, sex-workers, down-on-her luck characters. She could also probably be a noblewoman. She's my newest character so I'm still figuring her out. I think she's kinda jaded for some reason.
Men <3
Buck Birch (Tom Blyth). He is only in Western verse threads. He's usually an outlaw, but he could work as a common man, too. He's my most verse-specific character. He's charming, sly, and dangerous.
Shi Bolin. (Dylan Wang). He is good for bodyguards/knights/protectors. He could also be a weird, angsy prince. He's not the most friendly but he'll protect your character.
Remy Longfellow (Adrain Enscoe). He's good for regency/bridgerton things. He's your basic soft boy who's a little dumb <3
Alistair Brown (Thomas Brodie-Sangster). I usually play him as a tavern-owner. He can also be in Bridgerton type threads. He's hard-working, sarcastic, and a good man.
Benjamin Isakson (Jack Wolfe). He is usually only put in vampire threads tbh. He is good for fantasy/supernatural threads. He's naive, bookish, and he likes to study the supernatural. He is my personal baby.
James Parker (Harry Gilby). Usually more medieval threads. He's good as bodyguards or a loyal soilder. He wants to prove himself to his superior. He's just a young man that has to face a lot of darkness, I feel.
Alaric Blackwell (Freddy Carter). He works well in supernatural/fantasy threads. He can play a vampire hunter. He's a con-man and cannot be trusted.
I'd like to bring a Sean Teale muse somewhere, but I'm not sure about him yet.
Anyway, thanks!

Hey guy! Remember my FNAF Skyrim AU? I'm finally working on it again! and here's more photos of character designs.
Here's Cassie and her dad(name not confirmed yet)
In my fic, Cassie's dad's name is a lore-friendly Redguard name: Afcasir. He is a scholar from Hammerfell who discovered Sun and Moon in the old dwemer ruin of  Bcharningth-zel.
He came to Skyrim to investigate the ruins of Kagrenzel and in doing so, he joined Freddy's pack of were-beasts.
Unfortunetly, due to Moon's... "problem" he was killed and his ghost stayed around to pass on info to the dragonborn. Cassie would be adopted by Roxy and Chika.
Tumblr media
Here's Gregory: A nord child left orphaned by Skyrim's civil war and fended for himself in an old fisherman's shack until Freddy and Bonnie adopted him.
After Afcasir(Cassie's dad) joined, he quickly took up the hobby of fixing up dwemer automatons and making new things out of old scraps such as Foxy's prosthetic hand. He even fixed up DJMM.
Tumblr media
DJMM: a modified dwemer spider that was repaired by Gregory and plays strange (Glamrock) music that the people of Skyrim never heard before. He performs in taverns with Freddy(a bard)

Dimension 20 fans! A lot of folks have been asking me recently where's a good place to start d20. I give them the usual (send them the wiki, talk about chronological vs connected seasons, ask them what genres they like so as to point them in a direction) but it reminded me of something I'm curious about!
I know a lot of my friends who love/started with Critical Role are big into A Crown of Candy, and Adventure Zone fans tend to gravitate more towards the likes of Fantasy High etc. So my question for you is: what dnd show is your favourite (besides d20) and which season do you think is the closest match for the tone of said dnd show?
So the list would go:
- if you like Critical Role, try A Crown of Candy for its world building and intense drama, or try Escape from the Bloodkeep where Matt is a PC
- If you like The Adventure Zone, try Fantasy High for a show that starts whacky and with the players learning 5e but transforms into a beautiful story, or try Tiny Heist for the McElroys
- If you like NADDPOD, try (fill in the blank) for (tone), or try (fill in the blank) for peak Murph and Emily
- If you like Dungeons and Daddies try (blank) or try Mentopolis where Freddie is a PC
- Friends at the Table
- Acquisitions Incorporated
- Hello From The Magic Tavern (not technically a dnd podcast but it feels like it's all the silly downtime moments with the actual game part cut out)
- Etc!
I'd love to have another metric for recommending D20 seasons to friends and this sounds like a fun one! Suggestions welcome!
