If I say I'm sorry and it's genuine you know I'll try my best not to do it again

I gave up you thinking I was saving you from this moment but you still want to try it

You asked me if I would be happier with you and the answer has become abundantly clear

I'm even more angry then where I started because you're screaming my name but no where near here

Can't lift this up in prayer because God doesn't want any part

When it comes to matters of the heart

I thought I wanted a fresh start

Now my life feel likes it's falling apart

Listening to the confused love songs that now flood my mind

Stare into space trying to find

I thought if nothing else we still had time

Or at least that's what you said

I wish you would get out of my head

Ein Film der zeigt, du hast immer eine Wahl! Und was schon damals der Hinweis auf Selbstbestimmung war, hat sich durch freedomwriters intensiver gut 10 Jahre später erfolgreich wiederholt

Es ist aber eben nur ein Film. Dort, woran deine Emotionen hängen da kann man keine rationalen Gedanken fassen. Daran hängt die Liebe, das Herz, der Verstand.

Beide Filme zeigen aber nicht nur die Chance selbst Entscheidungen treffen zu können, sie zeigen auch das Versagen von Gesellschaft und Politik.

Mit künstlicher Intelligenz haben wir endlich die Chance aus der Masse zu treten, nicht der Menge nachzugehen, sondern unsere Persönlichkeit zu entfalten. Wo früher einmal der Spiegel vorgehalten wurde, da spiegelt sich heute unser Ich in der KI, einer kaum greifbaren Intelligenz

Being a girl is fighting a battle all her life,

Fight to be born,

Fight to not be thrown away to die,

Fight to get educated,

Fight to get equal opportunity to grow,

Fight to be standing strong alone,

Fight not to be stopped from chasing her dreams,

Fight not to be stopped from making her own identity,

Fight to follow her passion,

Fight to be treated equally,

no less no more just equality

Fight not to be judged.

The battle doesn't stop here rather starts from here,

The battle to be strong on the roads,

From the random stares, random comments,

From the unending conversations teaching to be like a girl,

From the unending protection from the world.

The battle starts to prove that she is capable,

To prove she is enough,

To prove she has her own identity,

I’ve seen freedom writers about three times and every time I watch it this one scene sends shivers down my spine. It's the scene when ms. Gruwell collects a drawing passed down that mocks the African American kid in the front and Ms. Gruwell tries to confront the whole class about it relating it to the hollucaust. Ultimately this leads to an intense dialogue with some of her students including Eva.

Eva : White people wanting respect like they deserve it for free.

Ms. Gruwell : I'm a teacher, it doesn't matter what color I am.

Eva : It's all about color, it's about people deciding what you deserve, about people wanting what they don't deserve. About whites thinking they own this world no matter what, you see, I hate white people.

Ms. Gruwell : You hate me? You don't even know me.

Eva : I know what you can do. I saw white cops shoot my friend in the back for reaching into his pocket, his pocket! I saw white cops come into my house and take my father away for no REASON except they feel like it! Except because they can! And they can, because they're white. So I HATE white people on sight!

This scene makes me emotional knowing that I feel everything Eva is saying. I know the pain behind, “I HATE WHITE PEOPLE” I know deep down inside what Eva says resonates with me. Sometimes I hate white people.

As a black disabled woman I’m at the bottom, often times dealt harshly at the hands of white people. Just knowing what my ancestors went through. Seeing with my own eyes in the media today (2020) my brothers and sisters dying innocently not having a chance to live out their dream. Our community is mourning not knowing if we’ll just be another hashtag. Having white friends be so friendly until we call them out on their manipulative, racist, narcissistic shxt. No, Ms. Gruwell doesn’t need to be applauded. In fact, this story isn’t even about her!! It’s about the students having a voice. They’re the heroes in this. Just like Miep Gies says.

My blood boils when Eva says, I hate white people and Ms. Gruwell replies with, you hate me? You don’t even know me. Exactly Ms. Gruwell that’s how we feel. People hate us enough to kill us. People hate us just because of our skin color. When will this end ? How did this begin ? What are we doing to move forward? Will we always be a target?

Grace holds me in the midst of uncertainties. Love keeps me grounded when I find hate over taking me. Joy brings me to repentance and forgiveness knowing that Jesus provides me with strength. I long for reconciliation but I know sometimes reconciliation doesn’t always happen.

I’m grateful for this movie. For giving POC a voice for letting our narrative be shared. I hope when you watch this you don’t see a group just overcoming something because a white lady became their teacher, but you sit with the hard truths that come with this movie. You sit with the pain. You learn to walk beside the vulnerable and Listen!

There’s so much more I could share about the movie but this is what takes up the most space in my heart right now.
