you ever just love one really specific version of a particular trope?

like take sex pollen. fun trope, sometimes combined with fuck or die - it really ups the ante on what could just be a regular PWP fic with a twist, right?

but the sex pollen fics that I just can't get enough of are the ones where the people involved are really close friends who have mutual crushes that they don't want to admit because the friendship means so much to them and they don't want to make things awkward and then suddenly they get exposed to an alien plant or a magical flower or whatever the catalyst is and they just wanna bang each other into the floor - but they can't do that either because they're such good friends! but omg not doing it hurts so bad and their entire mind, body, and soul is focused on tearing each other's clothes off - but friendship!! ohno! and finally it culminates in them admitting how they actually feel about each other before having the kind of sex that doesn't exist in real life but holy fuck is it fun to read about

a whispered moment between them ; “i’m trying so hard to hate you.” “why?”

they’re trying hard to hate each other then something happens (plot) and they’re stuck together which makes it ten times harder

“be honest with me.” “but why? why would i do that?”

“stop.” “stop what?” “being so kind to me.”

remember… they hated each other a couple chapters back. what changed? why did it change? who did it start to change in first?

the moment where your character asks themselves; “when did this nuisance become so important to me?”

How do you imagine the exact moment when Bow saw Glimmer and for the first time thought "Oh, she's quite attractive"?

With them knowing each other since they were kids, I imagine it was a gradual thing. Like they were best friends and they knew they liked spending time with each other, but it's not until they were teens when they started to realize, "Oh wow, he/she is so good looking."

Especially with both of them being bisexual, puberty was probably this mess of hormones and realizations that they were surrounded by all these incredibly attractive people... followed by the OH NO realization that they person they liked most was their best friend, the person that felt the most off limits.

And that, as they say, is the good stuff.

oooh thank you for playing anon! The descendants ship environment is RIPE for multishipping, but if I had to choose one of these.....I'm a malvie lover at heart I think. It's the entire song dedicated to their relationship AND the fact that they can be friends to lovers or enemies to lovers depending on where you are/what you're taking as canon.
