this isn't like.. too much I'm hoping but I find it inherently funny that with our mlp fictives we have a gen 3 rainbow dash, a gen 3.5 rainbow dash, I THINK a rainbow dash from gen 3 "run away rainbow", and a gen 4 rainbow dash who stares at them in shock and horror because ALL THREE BUT HER HAVE GEN 4 RARITY'S PERSONALITY??? "HOW AM I THOSE PONYS??"

also hilarious that we have 2 gen 3 mexican pinkies(minor context: mexico's toy releases were WHACK with colors for mlp and pinkie pie's were white mane or at least MUCH lighter pinks than the other countries' releases of the toys) who are both girlfriends to eachother and our anger holder gen 3 Minty who keeps going on about "in my day EVERYONE was lesbian coded because there were no stallions!!!" in the old person "back in my day" way grandparents do without even being one.

Cal purrs, “Aw, you missed me that much?” Boba steps closer to Cal and their chests are only separated by a few inches. He still hasn’t noticed Obi-Wan and Quinlan around the corner. Obi-Wan watches with horror as the Mandalorian reaches around to grip Cal’s ass and shoves him into his armored body. Boba clicks his tongue and chides with a rough voice, “Don’t flatter yourself, tracyn’ika.” The Mandalorian slides a gloved hand up Cal’s neck and curls his fingers around the nape, pulling him closer. The look on the boy, Quinlan and Obi-Wan’s boy, doesn’t seem the slightest perturbed; in fact, his grin deepens.  Obi-Wan can’t look and whips his head away to stare intently at a rock when he sees a flash of tongue. He spares a glance to Quinlan, who is doing the same and looks like he’d actually take Greez up on the offer to pummel him with his cybernetic arm right about now.

hi! my name is risk (but i'm fine with krisp), i'm 33 and white and use any pronouns but she. this is my deltarune sideblog; my main is at @arceusbeta .

things you'll find here include my fics (check the krisp fic tag), my theories and ideas, various headcanons, and me just saying "kris dreemurr" repeatedly for some reason. i also reblog fanart i see and like, and sometimes i report on fandom news sporadically and badly.

i have a few general rules and guidelines under the cut, plus a sense of what you can expect here!

so let's get the big things out of the way. do not interact with me if:

you'll note if you stick around that my general theory slant is towards kris being the most important character in deltarune and i tend to speculate in that direction. accordingly, i tend to think kris is the primary knight, kris is the narrator, and there is no third entity. this isn't really like stopping me from reconsidering (i now have weird music-based theories on chapter 2's fountain) just "what if it's chara" usually won't get much of a reply from me

i take player theory as the default and will post about it pretty regularly

i post a fair mix of angst and humor, especially kris-focused angst. i do tag all snowgrave related stuff with #snowgrave if that bothers you any!

Hmmm what would happen if rice krisp Alejandro meet psycho!noah? Would he still try to hypnotize Noah? Fear?? Or would the two come together and be a train wreck waiting to happen?

Well, the whole point of p!Noah is for him to be pretty indiscernible from regular Noah towards the other contestants, so I Imagine rk!Alejandro would try the same song and dance just to be met with someone who's far too unstable to be hypnotised. After all, the whole concept of hypnosis stems from hypnos; the state of semi-unconsciousness that leaves a person susceptible to suggestions and/or the implantation of hypnotic triggers. For someone like p!Noah, who's eerily smart and extremely manic (underneath the façade of slothfulness), I doubt he'd be able to fall into the initial trance that snagged rk!Noah. And he'd have no reason to reveal that he's immune because he's fucking insane, so there'd be no story.

Though, if p!Noah had any idea just how messed up rk!Alejandro is in the head, they'd get on like a house on fire. Until rk!Alejandro inevitably tries to control/possess him in other ways; then p!Noah would probably bite one of his fingers off or something.

Though that's assuming p!Noah is and always has been The Noah of that universe. If rk! and p! have been swapped during the events of the fic? That's a different can of worms.

Because, from Alejandro's perspective, the person he's weaved a web of triggers and suggestions into in an effort to practically craft himself The Perfect Boyfriend Subordinate is suddenly bereft of his triggers? And the charged animosity between them is just gone? As if Noah's just forgotten what's transpired between them entirely. He'd be oddly offended.

So of course he confronts p!Noah about this, even going so far as to try his failsafe trigger to send (who he assumes is rk!)Noah into a full trance, and yet the nerd before him just strikes him with an unimpressed stare and a raised eyebrow.

...I'd continue, but I really don't want to spoil anything for the upcoming chapters of the RK fic. 😳

For the shader thing, I was curious about what you think of the fake volumetric ground fog in TotK. I couldn't find a screenshot of it, but it's very prominent in the ancestor cutscenes, I'm sure you're familiar with it

you are so right that i am familliar with them i fixated on them every time i got this cutscene aghjfbgjh

im not sure!!! i have a few guesses though but nothing is super pointing me towards them

for starters, i imagine the thing driving it is some kind of noise/cloud heightmap texture, along with something masking out areas where they should be and shouldnt be (both of these textures are moving & distorting)

but as for how theyre actually doing it.. houghh.. there is definitely a Height to it, if you look at their legs you can see that much, so its not just a really cleverly lit plane.......

mario odyssey has a kind of similar thing in cap kingdom, but im not 100% convinced these are using the same technique

talked with @krisp-xyz about this and she pointed out the mario one definitely seems more mesh-based, with the alpha being set based on how far objects in back of it are (so if the fog is right in front of a solid surface, its very transparent, but if its further away, its more solid!!)

another thing that i'm not 100% sure about, but the fog in totk seems lower resolution, compared to everything else? so my two guesses are either its just a very fancy mesh-based approach, with the general "shape" of the clouds being blocked out and pushed around by the textures, and then the textures & normal maps being used to give it convincing lighting + transparency (along with what theyre doing in mario odyssey, transparency based on the depth of the objects behind it). and then on top of that it definitely seems like it would be blurred a little bit with a post-processing effect to hide the fact that its a mesh even further, and placed onto the scene based on the depth information. this is kind of similar to what the clouds in sea of thieves do. if this explanation sounds kind of vague thats because it is it looks soo good if theyre doing it like this i cant begin to imagine the specific calculations theyre doing to get it looking so natural from different angles

which is why my second theory is from, and its that, they are doing raymarching??? it LOOKS raymarched, but i didnt jump to it because, raymarching is expensive!! essentially when you hit a mesh, you then start taking little tiny steps through it, and after a certain number of steps, you add all the values you got together, and divide it by the number of steps, and thats the average for that point ! you can also do a lighting calculation for each point but the more things you add onto a raymarched shader the performance very quickly adds up, since if say your step count is 64, every operation you do on a pixel will be done 64 times

but again i hesitate on this because, its a switch!! and raymarching is expensive!! though like i said it does look like its scaled up and possibly blurred, so if they were doing the raymarching calculations at like 4x the screen size, and only needed a few steps because it is only taking up a little bit of the ground and they can blur it, and also marking the areas where they Dont have to do raymarching by the mask texture. then maybe????? unless someone has access to the rendering frames for this though i would not be able to say for sure. but those are my two theories!!!

Watching Nimona for the 2nd time after reading tons of posts and the comic. A thread:

[SPOILERS AHEAD SO GO WATCH THE MOVIE ALREADY]

* Knowing how things play out in the end really captures just how ridiculous the title sequence mythologizes these kids and what fear really does to people

* originally when the squire comes up to Ballister I thought that he wanted a selfie with him and was nervous about it. The facial expressions show that he's confused about handing the "sword" off to him and Ballister's face in response just ahfhsjbd. Also I noticed immediately that Ballister could just /feel/ something was off.

* "Ballister, today the kingdom will see you for who you really are" was SUCH A DAMN TWOFACED COMMENT FROM THE DIRECTOR YOU EVIL EVIL SHITFUCK

* Nimona's face as they discover someone that has been shunned just as they were just MMMMMPH *chef's kiss*

* Nimona's expressions are wonderful and when they ask about Ballister keeping the arm just makes me giggle in the weirdest way. I need screenshots at some point because emotes at some point are going to become a must

* THE DRAMA AND ENERGY NIMONA BRINGS

* "This guy looks extremely punchable" "You're right. He is actually extremely punchable."

* I kinda love the transition from the comic to the movie from Blackheart to Boldheart. A villain on purpose to a villain by someone else's doing. The similarities and parallels and themes!!!!

* We just threw the murderer in jail. "Wanna get some lunch?" "Yeah! I love lunch!"

* Nimona the rat sneaking into the cell as the Director leaves Ballister

* "Wait. How did you get out?" "I know the code."

* Nimona's intro to the escape music. I love this beatboxing gremlin. And then just breaks stuff while following after Ballister who is trying to sneak out carefully. "He is a murderer!... of fun"

* "Something something something... we win!"

* The way Nimona lands in the hero pose and stands triumphantly while Ballister slides in on his face, defeated by the overwhelming everything that just happened

* "Metal"

* Nimona absolutely loves fucking with Ballister. Just messing with his head because he's just so gullible. Making the lair more evil lair-y with lights on strings and making tacos. THE HANDS AS NIMONA SAYS MEATBALL!!!

* Comic Ballister is definitely more clearly defined as a scientist, and the only reference we get to movie Ballister being scientific is just that he MAKES HIS OWN ARM. It's a little more understandable to see where he's coming from. He's a man of science. Science has reason and explanation and definition and Nimona... Does not. Not to say that any of his actions are necessarily forgivable, as he definitely hurts Nimona by being this way. Nimona gives him one question out of his million, and thankfully, he chooses the correct one. "Why are you helping me?"

* "You need the squire? Then let's go kill- Get him"

* The way Nimona Super Mario hops bouncing off the couch AND KEEPS TELEPORTING FOR COMEDIC EFFECT

* "rhinoperos"

* "Would you please unclench your mustache?"

* Nimona constantly questions all of Ballister's actions and tries to have him question things for himself. Question everything. Including the system.

* Something therapeutic for Ballister in the way Nimona portrays him.

* "He hates freestyle jazz"

* The random commercial transition with Dragon Krisps

* "Easier to be a girl? You're hilarious" Nimona is all about expressing who they are and questioning the status quo. Questioning what everyone else wants you to be. What is normal? Fuck being normal. I'm Nimona.

* The wishing well story in the movie vs the witch in the hole in the comic.

* Ballister and his constant puppy dog eyes

* The squire has such Kuzco energy. "Ohhh nooo. Let me go ahead and pass this problem on to someone else."

* Nimona's slander on pineapple pizza. How dare

* Comparisons to other memes and media are EVERYWHERE. "There's an arrow in your (butt) leg!" Also, the arrow in the leg from comic to movie makes such a defined difference. "I'm not a people." That's right sweetheart. You're a Nimona. I also love this scene because of the character growth from Ballister and the recognition of said growth from Nimona. He's got these assumptions and expectations that are constantly breaking around Nimona and they just watch him make mistakes and learn and grow. And BECAUSE Nimona can SEE this growth and change, they decide to share something a little more personal about themselves.

* "Who'd protect Todd?" Bro. I know.

* The squire dabbing in Ballister's armor. Secondhand embarrassment at an all-time high.

* "ARM-CHOPPING IS NOT A LOVE LANGUAGE" and then because of his training and his love BALLISTER PROCEEDS TO DEFEND THE GUY WHO CHOPPED OFF HIS ARM

* The parallels, the comparisons, the brainwashing, the questioning of everything!!!!

* Ambrosius watching as the future he could have had being wiped away quite literally depicted by a billboard being painted over, as he sits in the car with the person who's fears caused the incident in the first place. AND THEN THE FREAKOUT ABOUT EVERYTHING that only happens in his mind as he just simply responds with, "I'm fine, Director."

* Another person already said this, but the "devil and angel" over Ballister and Ambrosius comparison is just wonderful. "Says the miscreant, whispering in his ear." Bitch who the fuck are you!? Look in a goddamn mirror and reflect for fucking 2 seconds!!!

* They give Ambrosius a chance to do the right thing and trust the man he supposedly loves. Instead, he asks the wrong question, escalates the situation, and ends up with his hair looking like a paintbrush, getting booped on the nose by a gorilla. Also DINGING THAT KNIGHT IN THE DINGDONG WITH ARMADILLO NIMONA THEN USING THE KNIGHT'S SHIELD THAT IS STILL ATTACHED TO THE POOR GUY!?!? "Sorry not sorry" "Of horse I do" The pure elatement and joy Nimona expresses while fighting the Institution. *chef's kisses everywhere*

* The confusion over what kind of otter Nimona takes form as a callback

* This movie subverts expectations CONSTANTLY jumping rope with drama and comedy.

* THE SEVERE TRAUMA THAT NIMONA HAS over saving the little girl's life and having her in turn raise a sword at Nimona. The parallel to Gloreth just broke them.

* "I don't know what's scarier. The fact that everyone in this kingdom wants to run a sword through my heart... or they sometimes, I just wanna let 'em."

* The way Nimona lights up when Ballister says that they are together. "You changed the way you see me."

* The director bases all of her fears on a myth and old papers and nightmares. Projecting her fears in a way that only hurts the people around her.

* The DRAMA that Nimona exudes after being STABBED in the form of Ambrosius. It's also not exactly explained in the movie, but in the comic, the reason Nimona apparently heals so fast is because every time they change forms, the old body (cells) dies and the new one takes its place. Which is why Nimona just questioned what the fuck Ballister was doing when bandaging their leg and being all worried about the arrow.

* "You didn't tell me you could breathe fire." "Ohhh" "Metal" love how he just accepts Nimona at this point. The board game, Nimona shape-shifting into the Director to spook Ballister and so many other bits from the comic, either being pulled directly or inspiring new ones. It's all just so good.

* "Nachos! And hold the olives. He's allergic"

There is so much to this movie. I love the stories it speaks for and that so many people connect to it. So many other conclusions to be drawn and analysis to be made. Definitely one of my new favorites.

Mistletoe Beetle (Stephanorrhina guttata)

Distribution: Found mainly in Cameroon and Nigeria, but also throughout nearby central African countries.

Habitat: Found in humid tropical habitats.

Diet: Mainly feed on the nectar and pollen of flowering plants, but will also feed on soft fruit, such as bananas. Larvae feed on the humus within their substrate as well as on leaf mold.

Description: The mistletoe beetle is also known as the spotted flower beetle, so named due to the fact that it's often found on flowers. They are an important pollinator of certain tropical species within their distribution. Their other common name, the mistletoe beetle, stems from their Christmas-like coloration of green and red, with snow-like white specks on their elytra.

Mistletoe beetles are commonly kept as pets, as they are very easy to care for and breed, and due to their small size and non-aggressive nature, many breeding pairs can be kept together. In indoor environments, these beetles prefer mid-to-high temperatures, high humidity and lots of light.
