Case Study: Development of a Truck Tracker and Delivery Services Software
The logistics industry is evolving rapidly, requiring advanced solutions to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. This case study explores the development of a truck tracker cum delivery services software built using React Native, RESTful APIs, and SQLite. The software caters to both drivers and management, providing features such as route mapping, delivery status updates, and real-time tracking.
Objective
The primary goal was to create a comprehensive logistics management tool that enables:
Real-time truck tracking for management.
Route optimization and navigation for drivers.
Efficient data handling and offline support using SQLite.
Seamless communication between drivers and management through APIs.
Technology Stack
Frontend: React Native for cross-platform mobile application development.
Backend: RESTful APIs built using Node.js and Express.
Database: SQLite for lightweight and offline-first data management.
Third-party Integrations: Google Maps API for route mapping and GPS tracking.
Features Implemented
Driver-side Services
Route Map The application provides an optimized route mapping feature, leveraging Google Maps API to ensure drivers follow the shortest and most efficient paths to their destinations. This reduces fuel consumption and enhances delivery times.
Pickup and Drop Points Drivers can view precise pickup and drop locations directly within the app. This eliminates confusion, improves delivery accuracy, and ensures customer satisfaction.
Nearby Branches For situations requiring assistance or coordination, the app displays a list of nearby company branches. Drivers can quickly locate the closest branch for support during deliveries or emergencies.
Nearby Drivers and Trucks Drivers can access a map showing nearby colleagues and company trucks. This fosters better communication, enables resource sharing in emergencies, and enhances team collaboration.
Management-side Services
Truck Tracking Management can track trucks in real-time using GPS data integrated into the application. This feature provides visibility into vehicle locations, improving operational oversight and delivery planning.
Route Maps Detailed route maps for each truck are available for management, allowing them to monitor adherence to planned routes and adjust plans dynamically if required.
Pickup and Drop Statuses The app provides instant updates on pickup and drop progress. Management can view completed, pending, or delayed statuses, enabling proactive issue resolution.
Delivery Statuses Comprehensive records of delivery statuses are maintained, including timestamps and proof of delivery. This helps streamline reporting, improve accountability, and enhance customer trust.
Development Process
1. Requirement Analysis
Collaborated with stakeholders to identify pain points in the current logistics workflow and prioritize features for the software.
2. Design and Prototyping
Created wireframes and user journey maps for both driver and management interfaces.
Designed a user-friendly interface leveraging React Native’s components and Material Design principles.
3. Implementation
Frontend: Developed reusable React Native components for consistent UI and faster development.
Backend: Created scalable REST APIs for data exchange between the application and the server.
Database: Utilized SQLite for storing data locally, ensuring offline functionality and faster access times.
4. Testing and Quality Assurance
Conducted rigorous testing to ensure:
Smooth performance on both iOS and Android platforms.
Accurate data synchronization between SQLite and the backend database.
Proper handling of edge cases, such as network interruptions.
5. Deployment
Deployed the application on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, following best practices for app submission.
Challenges and Solutions
Challenge: Synchronizing offline data with the central server.
Scenario: Drivers frequently travelled through areas with poor network coverage, resulting in unsynchronized delivery updates. This caused discrepancies in the central database and delayed status visibility for management.
Tactical Solution: The team implemented a conflict resolution strategy that tagged each update with a timestamp. During synchronization, the server compared timestamps to resolve conflicts, ensuring that the most recent data was retained. A background sync mechanism was also introduced, which queued updates and synchronized them automatically once the network was restored.
Challenge: Ensuring accurate GPS tracking.
Scenario: In urban areas with tall buildings or rural areas with sparse infrastructure, GPS signals were inconsistent, leading to inaccurate truck locations and delays in delivery reporting.
Tactical Solution: Advanced location APIs were integrated with a fallback mechanism that switched to cell tower triangulation when GPS signals were weak. Additionally, the team implemented data smoothing algorithms to filter out erroneous location spikes, ensuring more reliable tracking data.
Challenge: Managing large datasets on mobile devices.
Scenario: Drivers often needed to access historical delivery records, leading to performance issues as the local SQLite database grew in size.
Tactical Solution: The team optimized SQLite queries to retrieve only the necessary data and implemented pagination for long lists. To further improve performance, periodic archiving was introduced, where older records were compressed and stored on the server, while still allowing on-demand access through the app.
Outcomes
Improved Efficiency: Reduced manual tracking efforts by 60%.
Enhanced Driver Experience: Simplified navigation and communication.
Better Decision-Making: Provided real-time insights to management for strategic planning.
Scalability: The modular architecture allows easy addition of new features.
The truck tracker and delivery services software successfully transformed logistics operations by harnessing React Native's cross-platform capabilities, SQLite's robust offline handling, and RESTful APIs' flexibility. The application stands as a comprehensive solution for managing Android and iOS apps, significantly impacting operational efficiency in the logistics industry.

That post from like a month ago (I was planning to write this the day after and then immediately forgot and this has been in drafts since lol) about web devs not having some basic knowledge of the web has been stuck in my brain for a while because they are correct as I said in the notes but it's the landscape of web dev right now that's causing it and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.
I've been a professional Front End Dev for just over 7 years at this point (now a UX Dev working on a design system), and while I have a good chunk of experience under my belt, I've gotten to the point where I realize just how much shit I do not know and it's a LOOOOT.
The current landscape of web dev is that most projects and products are robust web apps that, in the absolute best case scenario, are gonna require, at minimum:
User experience research and work (UX)
User interface design (UI)
Front end with accessibility and mobile responsiveness (I am here)
Front end interactions and state management (JS engineers)
Backend database and API work
Backend infrastructure work (including setting up the dev and QA test environments)
QA testing
Developer experience to make sure devs/engineers are working efficiently with the tools they have
I'm sure I've missed some roles here, but you can see why people end up specializing when they work on bigger projects and products. The web is so unbelievably JavaScript heavy nowadays that all these specializations are Kind Of Required™, but that's absolute best case scenario. A lot of companies simply do not have the budget (or desire) to fill all these roles. So then you have a bunch of people who are kinda okay to mediocre at multiple of these things instead focusing on being good at one or two things. And then put in timeline requirements. AND THEN you have some companies who have different philosophies on how to build their core product: some are very UX focused and will put time into making sure that's present, others are not and will not care about UX in the slightest and thus those roles may not exist there at all. And...well things aren't going to be as quality as you expect when you consider all of those points.
The web is full of applications now that require a lot more expertise in different fields than just a basic static site with no data. That's not to say static sites don't exist or have no place anymore, tho. But this is where we are. It sucks.

Even though 2023 was a really good year for me personally, 2024 was quite bad... And 2025 seems to be going the same way.
And I'm not even in the US of A!
Since they say it's a good thing to celebrate the small things in life, here's one of them: today is my very first day back in University, 10 years after getting my bachelor's degree!!! 🎉
A different University, and a completely different study subject (since I'm trying to change careers and all...)!! I'm really excited!!! 🤓
So... If I'm not around much anymore, you guys know why! 💜
Please keep sending all the Mycroft and/or Mystrade fics my way. Thank you! lol

reading alison weir's new novel; she's adapted and altered the primary source material she's clearly using in a way that is...um. something?
#i mean it's a novel. and it is not called creative license for nothing#i also know im not the target audience and that#the vast majority of the people reading this book are not like me (insofar as i've#read what's available from the archives/state calendar papers from 1533-36...#probably. front to back altogether; chronologically; about a dozen times or so? taken detailed notes etc )#*so i doubt it's a bugbear for many; if any; other than myself#but i was very easily able to pick out the primary source quotes ; and her intent in#placing; for example; a quote from a chapuys report of 1536 in late 1533#and switching the identities of certain people (here; norfolk subbed in for shelton ) for certain incidents#so as to bolster certain theories she clearly has about certain people and their loyalties...#i mean again it's a novel but this is what she does in her nonfiction too; she just has had more liberty to do so here#and there is a reason training in history is important to being labeled 'a historian'#you are to develop your theories from the evidence. not vice versa.#(or more specifically...she does literally the opposite of what historians are trained to do. she molds the evidence to fit her theories. )#anyway. review forthcoming...maybe#i'll have to read her author's note once i'm done with this section to see if she admits to any of these specific alterations#evidence first; theory after! otherwise we end up with all these superficial renderings

Hello Rassilon. Apologies for the deception but I rather wanted to make sure you started reading, so I thought it best not to announce myself. I'm assuming you're alone; you always did prefer to read your Asks in private. I wouldn't try too hard to stop reading, there's every likelihood you'll just hurt yourself. So just listen.
Anon ask of Omega (Your Ex) regarding Rassilon's current partners. Ask begins.
I hope you'll forgive me the self-indulgence, but I have worked so very hard for this moment, a culmination of two centuries of work. It's rare that you get the chance to monologue through another, and you can't tell me you're not curious.
Why does an ex seek to talk about their former partner's lovers?
It's a simple enough answer: for satisfying one's curiosity. Uninspired, perhaps, but my god. The discovery, not simply of the variety of partners you take interest in, but that you would quite willingly date the teacher of one of Gallifrey's most infamous children.
It's a strange thing to know about an ex, but the fascination, Rassilon, the fascination of it all. I have dedicated my afterlife to handing myself knowledge of these partners, and I feel nothing but satisfaction in this choice.
I believe there are far more people in this world that would catch your eye than you would ever guess. And I have preceeded all of them.
Of course, their desires did not manifest overnight. When Tumblr first gathered your romantic intereste – Borusa, Banthony, and the rest – to discuss and hypothesize on the nature of their love for you, I felt what I believe we all felt: jealousy, and anger.
But as attention on Tumblr increased in number and discussion on the greatest partner for you emerged, I began to develop a very specific concern. Banthony was so obsessed with his ideas on you and his marriage, even as our fellows began to flirt and confess our love to you ourselves.
I began to worry that if Banthony successfully attempted to catch your gaze, then I would be as much a victim as any, trapped in the nightmare landscape of a twisted world without your love.
At first, I attempted prevention, but the cause seemed hopeless. The only way to ensure I did not suffer the tribulations of what I believed to be an inevitable confession of love was to stop my own feelings of love. So what began as an experiment soon became a race. I would make you fall in love with Banthony before professing your love to anyone else, therefore eliminating what myself or Borusa's feelings may be.
And there, I think, we are brought just about up to date. I have enjoyed our little trip down memory lane, but past here lies only a happy future for you and Banthony.
Goodbye, Rassilon
- Omega xoxo
I- I don't know what to say.
Omega, if this is really you, if you somehow, by every twist and turn of fate imaginable, survived this long in some form... My love for you has always been the greatest of any I have felt. Never have I loved another in the way I loved you.
But that is in the past. I have to stop letting you hold me back. I made my decision that fateful day; I did what I had to do to reach the top, to shape this society- our society, our dream- in the way that it must be shaped. Gallifrey could never have had two rulers. You knew this going in. And, best of all, dearest love, you knew that I would not be able to stand a threat to my power and my control. So, as much as I loved you, Omega, my sweet Ohm, my darling Peylix, I had to let you go. For us, for our home, for our people, for our dream. For Gallifrey. We would both be dead and gone by now if I had not, but now, you live on in your beautous creations, and in our shared society. Look at our children. At what we have created. This must be enough.
Oh, but my darling, you never could be so easily satisfied.
That is why I loved you. And that is why I had to let you go.
If this really were you, I would say, dearest Ohm, that I am glad you are able to let me go. I know that must be exceedingly difficult. But, I am happy with Borusa, and I do not love Banthony. If I did not have Borusa to think of, perhaps things would be different, and I would honour your wishes. Perhaps, then, you may finally find peace.
I am truly sorry that I must leave you trapped in your death, but you will never be in a world without my love. My love for you transcends the grave- and yes, I know, it must be your grave, my darling, for you cannot have survived beyond. I know, in my hearts, that you are gone and that this cannot be from you, not really, for you are lost to all but my memory.
Goodbye, my love. For whatever isn't left of you, for whatever could have been- my love for you persists even now, across regenerations and across death and across time.
#sorry it took me so long to get here#this is truly the most incredible ask I have ever received#ask#omega#of rassilon#answer#banthony#borusa#also. a little obsessed with the idea of a once-enraged ex lover returning to being obsessed with the guy who LITERALLY MURDERED HIM only t#end up wanting the best for him and trying to match make him. And instead of choosing to encourage the love of a fellow obsessive sub who#is clearly in an unhealthy relationship with Rassy (Borusa)#ergo mirroring his own lost relaitonship#he chooses to encourage the love of a FICTIONAL CHARACTER who was basically a MEME brought to life only to annoy Rassy#idk what you call it... character development?? BUt this is certainly wonderful and intriguing and hilarious#seriously. you are brilliant#also I think it's important to mention that the mian reason this took me so long to get to was because the first time I read it I opened it#at school and burst out laughing in front of everyone#and I haven't been able to answer this without laughing uproariously for so so long#and then I took the break and then I left town for a bit#but I'm back and I'm still laughing so so much and yet here we are#I did it!!!#also I hope Borusa sees this and gets mad and finally leaves this bitch (rassy)#he deserves better#find later#omega omega omega

The Comprehensive Guide to Web Development, Data Management, and More
Introduction
Everything today is technology driven in this digital world. There's a lot happening behind the scenes when you use your favorite apps, go to websites, and do other things with all of those zeroes and ones — or binary data. In this blog, I will be explaining what all these terminologies really means and other basics of web development, data management etc. We will be discussing them in the simplest way so that this becomes easy to understand for beginners or people who are even remotely interested about technology. JOIN US
What is Web Development?
Web development refers to the work and process of developing a website or web application that can run in a web browser. From laying out individual web page designs before we ever start coding, to how the layout will be implemented through HTML/CSS. There are two major fields of web development — front-end and back-end.
Front-End Development
Front-end development, also known as client-side development, is the part of web development that deals with what users see and interact with on their screens. It involves using languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create the visual elements of a website, such as buttons, forms, and images. JOIN US
HTML (HyperText Markup Language):
HTML is the foundation of all website, it helps one to organize their content on web platform. It provides the default style to basic elements such as headings, paragraphs and links.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets):
styles and formats HTML elements. It makes an attractive and user-friendly look of webpage as it controls the colors, fonts, layout.
JavaScript :
A language for adding interactivity to a website Users interact with items, like clicking a button to send in a form or viewing images within the slideshow. JOIN US
Back-End Development
The difference while front-end development is all about what the user sees, back end involves everything that happens behind. The back-end consists of a server, database and application logic that runs on the web.
Server:
A server is a computer that holds website files and provides them to the user browser when they request it. Server-Side: These are populated by back-end developers who build and maintain servers using languages like Python, PHP or Ruby.
Database:
The place where a website keeps its data, from user details to content and settings The database is maintained with services like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB. JOIN US
Application Logic —
the code that links front-end and back-end It takes user input, gets data from the database and returns right informations to front-end area.

Why Proper Data Management is Absolutely Critical
Data management — Besides web development this is the most important a part of our Digital World. What Is Data Management? It includes practices, policies and procedures that are used to collect store secure data in controlled way.
Data Storage –
data after being collected needs to be stored securely such data can be stored in relational databases or cloud storage solutions. The most important aspect here is that the data should never be accessed by an unauthorized source or breached. JOIN US
Data processing:
Right from storing the data, with Big Data you further move on to process it in order to make sense out of hordes of raw information. This includes cleansing the data (removing errors or redundancies), finding patterns among it, and producing ideas that could be useful for decision-making.
Data Security:
Another important part of data management is the security of it. It refers to defending data against unauthorized access, breaches or other potential vulnerabilities. You can do this with some basic security methods, mostly encryption and access controls as well as regular auditing of your systems.
Other Critical Tech Landmarks
There are a lot of disciplines in the tech world that go beyond web development and data management. Here are a few of them:
Cloud Computing
Leading by example, AWS had established cloud computing as the on-demand delivery of IT resources and applications via web services/Internet over a decade considering all layers to make it easy from servers up to top most layer. This will enable organizations to consume technology resources in the form of pay-as-you-go model without having to purchase, own and feed that infrastructure. JOIN US
Cloud Computing Advantages:
Main advantages are cost savings, scalability, flexibility and disaster recovery. Resources can be scaled based on usage, which means companies only pay for what they are using and have the data backed up in case of an emergency.
Examples of Cloud Services:
Few popular cloud services are Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. These provide a plethora of services that helps to Develop and Manage App, Store Data etc.
Cybersecurity
As the world continues to rely more heavily on digital technologies, cybersecurity has never been a bigger issue. Protecting computer systems, networks and data from cyber attacks is called Cyber security.
Phishing attacks, Malware, Ransomware and Data breaches:
This is common cybersecurity threats. These threats can bear substantial ramifications, from financial damages to reputation harm for any corporation.
Cybersecurity Best Practices:
In order to safeguard against cybersecurity threats, it is necessary to follow best-practices including using strong passwords and two-factor authorization, updating software as required, training employees on security risks.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) represent the fastest-growing fields of creating systems that learn from data, identifying patterns in them. These are applied to several use-cases like self driving cars, personalization in Netflix.
AI vs ML —
AI is the broader concept of machines being able to carry out tasks in a way we would consider “smart”. Machine learning is a type of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that provides computers with the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed. JOIN US
Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: some common applications include Image recognition, Speech to text, Natural language processing, Predictive analytics Robotics.
Web Development meets Data Management etc.
We need so many things like web development, data management and cloud computing plus cybersecurity etc.. but some of them are most important aspects i.e. AI/ML yet more fascinating is where these fields converge or play off each other.
Web Development and Data Management
Web Development and Data Management goes hand in hand. The large number of websites and web-based applications in the world generate enormous amounts of data — from user interactions, to transaction records. Being able to manage this data is key in providing a fantastic user experience and enabling you to make decisions based on the right kind of information.
E.g. E-commerce Website, products data need to be saved on server also customers data should save in a database loosely coupled with orders and payments. This data is necessary for customization of the shopping experience as well as inventory management and fraud prevention.
Cloud Computing and Web Development
The development of the web has been revolutionized by cloud computing which gives developers a way to allocate, deploy and scale applications more or less without service friction. Developers now can host applications and data in cloud services instead of investing for physical servers.
E.g. A start-up company can use cloud services to roll out the web application globally in order for all users worldwide could browse it without waiting due unavailability of geolocation prohibited access.
The Future of Cybersecurity and Data Management
Which makes Cybersecurity a very important part of the Data management. The more data collected and stored by an organization, the greater a target it becomes for cyber threats. It is important to secure this data using robust cybersecurity measures, so that sensitive information remains intact and customer trust does not weaken. JOIN US
Ex: A healthcare provider would have to protect patient data in order to be compliant with regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) that is also responsible for ensuring a degree of confidentiality between a provider and their patients.
Conclusion
Well, in a nutshell web-developer or Data manager etc are some of the integral parts for digital world.
As a Business Owner, Tech Enthusiast or even if you are just planning to make your Career in tech — it is important that you understand these. With the progress of technology never slowing down, these intersections are perhaps only going to come together more strongly and develop into cornerstones that define how we live in a digital world tomorrow.
With the fundamental knowledge of web development, data management, automation and ML you will manage to catch up with digital movements. Whether you have a site to build, ideas data to manage or simply interested in what’s hot these days, skills and knowledge around the above will stand good for changing tech world. JOIN US

Update August 1, 2024
Hello to all 0 of you!
Welcome my journal for my coding journey currently in a course learning Full-stack development. Although I have been putting off learning to code since dropping out of college before getting the computer science degree due to self esteem, learning drive, and overall doubting my abilities. I would try and fail and try and fail without really having a goal or a destination in mind other than to finish and get a job without actually knowing what I want to accomplish at the end of it.
I've lived some life at this point, realized I was not ready at the time and my journey is indeed beginning a little delayed and I am completely fine with that now. I am ready to fail, learn, keep trying, keep failing.
As the title of the blog suggests I am learning full-stack development, looking for help in anyway I can get it from time management, organization, note taking, coding resources, study resources. I paused yesterday to learn how to learn because I felt I needed to do some research into this. I am in the part where I feel lost but things still make sense on a smaller concept to concept basis but looking at compiling it all together to one cohesive piece has me feeling like I will miss a piece or not spend enough time on something I really need to know.
My name is Nick, I am 29, married, we have a golden retriever named Sansa, and I enjoy hiking, camping, traveling, new experiences, and relaxing when possible.
Welcome to my journey friends, I do wish to talk to whomever will talk to me lets do this together!!! Throw an ask, tell me your coding/ career story, successful or struggling I find them all beneficial. I am also willing to help in any way I can.
Tell me how to practice (projects, challenges, tests) + good resources to help learn how to code.
Currently learning Form Validation, Modals in CSS in a CareerFoundry course
Until next time.
<3 big love,
Nick

first OC thought of 2024 is brought to you by HW we love to see it !
#more specifically I’m thinking about sohm al#and how half of the journey through it is just tedious amounts of climbing/walking up a mountain#important note: eyrie and alphinaud still aren’t on the best of terms#they are cordial and kind but eyrie remains distant towards him#much more of the WoL compared to eyrie#but on the trek up the mountain there’s a patch of slick rocks#eyrie tells alphinaud to go in front of them and becuase the poor lad can’t catch a break#he ends up slipping and nearly going off the edge until eyrie grabs a hold of him#and it’s not a nice grab a hold of him. it’s a hang onto the boy for dear life and hoist him back up#carry him the rest of the way up the narrow slick path and set him down in a safe spot to look him over#it’s terrifying for the both of them but it’s hugely eye opening for alphinaud#just how scared eyrie looked when they caught him. it wasn’t the hero scared to lose an innocent life#it was *eyrie* scared to lose a friend. someone they cared about deeply even if they didn’t talk about it#it was the unknowing push they both kinda needed to work on their friendship#Estinien talks to eyrie about it at the camp near the Zenith when it’s just the two of them left awake#eyrie confiding in Estinien about the loss of their father to a similiar situation around Alphinaud’s age#and how they couldn’t bear the thought of losing the boy#estinien noticing how much eyrie cares for the boy as a father does but he keeps that to himself#shdndndn AHHH#me slapping HW this expansion can fit so much eyrie and alphinaud friendship development in it#they are dear friends. eyrie is alphinaud’s father. alphinaud continues to be the spark of hope eyrie needs#without it they would have consigned themselves to loosing estinien for the greater good#oc: eyrie kisne
