I have clinical anxiety, I have historically engaged in nervous system suppressing behaviors resulting in depression

so now, I'm not engaged in those behaviors and my anxiety is so severe. i am living in fear all the time. everything i do-I listen to music, i eat, i watch tv, i try to lie down and breathe in silence and my thoughts overwhelm me. no matter what, my heart is pounding, i'm fidgety, i breakdown regularly.

because of my educational background and research experience, i know why i am severely anxious all the time. i know all about attachment theory and trauma and the HPA axis and (dys)regulation.

you'd think this would help. it doesn't.

exposure therapy is purported to help people face fears by removing the negative association (X=danger) but what if the fear is just life? and what if it actually is dangerous?

i'm moving back to philadelphia in a week. a place with so many negative associations. a few good ones but mostly bad.

i am so scared. i am so scared. i am so scared.

FSC Gothic: COVID19 edition

You receive an email from the school telling you your Personalized Updated Move In Information. The words shift on the screen, your housing assignment inconsistent and forever changing. You blink. You’ve been slated for remote learning.

There is updated financial planning on the portal, they said. The portal is gone.

You are one of the ███ ones; your classes are in person. You know this. You commit their locations to heart.

Is this lucky? or have they chosen you as a sacrifice?

The portal is back. There is no information left. The tabs are gone; you click on student over and over and over and over and over. This will not bring back community living. This will not tell you your new home.

Your classes have been set to hybrid status. You do not fully know what this means. Your professors do not return your emails.

How many will fall ill this semester? You’re an honors student. The school must think you are immune to covid19, why else would they require your presence on campus this fall? You clutch your hand sanitizer a little closer.

The mascot is wearing a t-shirt as a mask. Two weeks ago, this made you laugh. Now you can barely smile.

The move in countdown ticks away. It is crawling closer and closer. You check portal. Your apartment has been deemed an On Campus Quarantine Location. You do not know yet where you will be living.

You briefly wonder what will happen to the things you left behind. You email FSCares a question about this. A reply comes. It is blank, save for a single word in a language you do not understand. You do not remember what you were worrying about.
